Way back, when the world was a simpler place and there was no war, no
evil, and no kernel bugs, there was just a single pinctrl lock. That
was how the world was when (57291ce pinctrl: core device tree mapping
table parsing support) was written. In that case, there were
instances where the pinctrl mutex was already held when
pinctrl_register_map() was called, hence a "locked" parameter was
passed to the function to indicate that the mutex was already locked
(so we shouldn't lock it again).
A few years ago in (42fed7b pinctrl: move subsystem mutex to
pinctrl_dev struct), we switched to a separate pinctrl_maps_mutex.
...but (oops) we forgot to re-think about the whole "locked" parameter
for pinctrl_register_map(). Basically the "locked" parameter appears
to still refer to whether the bigger pinctrl_dev mutex is locked, but
we're using it to skip locks of our (now separate) pinctrl_maps_mutex.
That's kind of a bad thing(TM). Probably nobody noticed because most
of the calls to pinctrl_register_map happen at boot time and we've got
synchronous device probing. ...and even cases where we're
asynchronous don't end up actually hitting the race too often. ...but
after banging my head against the wall for a bug that reproduced 1 out
of 1000 reboots and lots of looking through kgdb, I finally noticed
this.
Anyway, we can now safely remove the "locked" parameter and go back to
a war-free, evil-free, and kernel-bug-free world.

The old format to define pinctrl settings for imx in DT has two
hierarchy levels. The first level are function device nodes. The second
level are pingroups which contain a property fsl,pins. The original
intention was to define all pin functions in a single dtsi file and just
reference the correct ones in the board files.
This idea was rejected some time ago leading to the current design to
have all the pinfunctions defined in the board files. So we don't need
the function device nodes anymore.
This patch changes the pinctrl driver to accept devicetrees which do not
have the first hierarchy level, function device nodes. For example
karo-tx25 already has such a devicetree. Old devicetrees are still
parsed and supported.

Since SCLK, MISO and MOSI are the only mandatory signals at Zynq's SPI
interfaces, SS0, SS1 and SS2 have to be configured separately as they may
be used as simple GPIO lines.
This, of course, has to be considered in the devicetree, so pin controller
configuration for e.g. an SPI0 using SS0 and SS1 only might look like the
following snippet (derived from the example of chapter "17.5.3

as GPIO instead of being occupied by SPI0 SS2 function. Note the separate

codes the acknowledge for different IRQ types into the handler. It is
better to use the IRQ core as intended and let it handle the differences

0 is used in all pinfunction definitions when a config register is not
available, for example imx25-pinfunc.h. If a configuration value is used
for such a pinfunction the driver will always write it to the
configuration register if it is not -1. For a 0 configuration register
the configuration value is written to offset 0x0. This can lead to a
crashing/hanging system without any warning message.
This patch checks for 0 config register and sets the internal value to
-1. If the configuration value is not NO_PADCTL this leads to an error

ST's hardware differentiates between GPIO mode and Pinctrl alternate
functions. When a pin is in GPIO mode, there are dedicated registers
to set and obtain direction status. However, If a pin's alternate
function is in use then the direction is set and status is derived
from a bunch of syscon registers. The issue is; until now there was
a lack of parity between the two.
For example:

pin 33 (PIO4[1]):[OE:0,PU:0,OD:0]
[retime:0,invclk:0,clknotdat:0,de:0,rt-clk:0,rt-delay:0]
In this example GPIO-33 is a GPIO controlled LED, which is set for
output, as you'd expect. However, when the same information is
drafted from Pinctrl, it clearly states that OE (Output Enable) is
not set i.e. the pin is set for input. This is because OE normally
only represents alternate functions and has no bearing on how the
pin operates when in Alt-0 (GPIO mode).
This patch changes the current semantics and provides a parity link
between the two subsystems. The get_direction() call-back firstly
determines which function a pin is operating in, then uses the
appropriate helpers for that mode.

Currently all PFC registers lie in low 32-bit address space. Hence use
u32 instead of unsigned long to store PFC register addresses in pinctrl
tables. All calculations of virtual addresses use a phys_addr_t
intermediate, so we know where to add an offset if the 32-bit assumption
ever becomes false.

Move the definition of DRV_PINGROUP_REG() before the definition of

Various white-space consistency fixes.
These changes aim to update existing drivers to be consistent with future

macro was removed in commit 80da8e02d2 ("sh-pfc: r8a7740: Add bias
(pull-up/down) pinconf support"), bias parameters are supposed to be
configured using the generic pinctl mechanism, which calls the
.set_bias() method.
However, the PORTCR() macro still represents the control register as
consisting of two 4-bit fields. Hence the bias configuration in the
uppermost 2 bits is always overwritten with zeroes when a pin is
configured for GPIO, disabling any previously configured bias.
Use the variable config register macro instead, to represent the
register as having 4 fields, and to make sure only the input/output
control and function fields are touched.

Instead of handling everything in the driver's first level interrupt
handler, we can take advantage of already existing flow handlers that are
provided by the IRQ core.
This changes the functionality a bit also. Previously the driver looped
over pending interrupts in a single loop, restarting the loop if some
interrupt changed state. This caused problem with Lenovo Thinkpad 10
digitizer that it was not able to deassert the interrupt before the driver
disabled the interrupt for good (looplimit was exhausted).
Rework the interrupt handling logic a bit so that we provide proper mask,
ack and unmask operations in terms of Baytrail GPIO hardware and loop over
pending interrupts only once. If the interrupt remains asserted the first
level handler will be re-triggered automatically.

The pin id for a given tuple listed in a fsl,pins property is calculated
by dividing the first entry (which is also a register offset) by 4.
As the first available register is at offset 0x8 and configures the pad
MX25_PAD_A10 the right id for this pin is 2. All other pins are off by
one, too.
This patch drops the definition MX25_PAD_RESERVE1 (together with its
only use) and decrements all following values by 1.

The Rockchip GPIO interrupt controller totally throws away all status
about an interrupt when you "disable" the interrupt. That has
unfortunate consequences in the following situation:
1. An edge-triggered interrupt is enabled and should wake the system.
2. System suspend happens: interrupt is disabled and marked for wake.
3. rockchip_irq_suspend() reenables the interrupt so we can wake.
4. Interrupt happens when asleep.
5. rockchip_irq_resume() redisables the interrupt.
6. Disabling the interrupt throws away all status about it.
7. Normal system resume happens and we enable the interrupt again,
since we threw away status about the interrupt we don't know it
fired while suspended. Even worse: if we need both edges of the
interrupt the logic to swap edges never runs.
Note: even if we somehow can post the status about wakeup interrupts
in rockchip_irq_resume() we would still have a window of losing any
edges that came in while interrupts were disabled.
If we use mask only then we don't need to worry. The GPIO Interrupt
controller keeps track of pending interrupts that are enabled and just
masked.
There was no real strong reason to support the enable/disable
functionality (other than that it seemed right), so let's go back to
just supporting mask/unmask but actually map it to the real
mask/unmask. This ends up with slightly different (and more correct)
behavior than before (f2dd028 pinctrl: rockchip: Fix

I was seeing cases where I was losing interrupts when inserting and
removing SD cards. Sometimes the card would get "stuck" in the

I believe that the problem was related to the code to handle the case
where we needed both rising and falling edges. This code would
disable the interrupt as the polarity was switched. If an interrupt
came at the wrong time it could be lost.
We'll match what the gpio-dwapb.c driver does upstream and change the

Additionally to the generic DT parameters, allow drivers to provide
driver-specific DT parameters to be used with the generic parser
infrastructure.
To achieve this 'struct pinctrl_desc' is extended to pass custom pinconf
option to the core. In order to pass this kind of information, the
related data structures - 'struct pinconf_generic_dt_params',
'pin_config_item' - are moved from pinconf internals to the
pinconf-generic header.
Additionally pinconfg-generic is refactored to not only iterate over the
generic pinconf parameters but also take the parameters into account
that are provided through the driver's 'struct pinctrl_desc'.
In particular 'pinconf_generic_parse_dt_config()' and
'pinconf_generic_dump' helpers are split into two parts each. In order
to have a more generic helper that can be used to process the generic
parameters as well as the driver-specific ones.
v2:
- fix typo
- add missing documentation for @conf_items member in struct
- rebase to pinctrl/devel: conflict in abx500
- rename _pinconf_generic_dump() to pinconf_generic_dump_one()
- removed '_' from _parse_dt_cfg()
- removed BUG_ONs, error condition is handled in if statements
- removed pinconf_generic_dump_group() & pinconf_generic_dump_pin
helpers
- fixed up corresponding call sites
- renamed pinconf_generic_dump() to pinconf_generic_dump_pins()

With the new 'groups' property, the DT parser can infer the map type
from the fact whether 'pins' or 'groups' is used to specify the pin
group to work on.
To maintain backwards compatibitliy with current usage of the DT
binding, this is only done when PIN_MAP_TYPE_INVALID is passed to the
parsing function as type.

which can be used by drivers as generic callback for dt_node_to_map() to
leverage the new feature.

The Rockchip pinctrl driver was only implementing the "mask" and
"unmask" operations though the hardware actually has two distinct
things: enable/disable and mask/unmask. It was implementing the
"mask" operations as a hardware enable/disable and always leaving all
interrupts unmasked.
I believe that the old system had some downsides, specifically:
- (Untested) if an interrupt went off while interrupts were "masked"
it would be lost. Now it will be kept track of.
- If someone wanted to change an interrupt back into a GPIO (is such a
thing sensible?) by calling irq_disable() it wouldn't actually take
effect. That's because Linux does some extra optimizations when
there's no true "disable" function: it does a lazy mask.
Let's actually implement enable/disable/mask/unmask properly.

The rockchip pinctrl driver was using irq_gc_set_wake() as its
implementation of irq_set_wake() but was totally ignoring everything
that irq_gc_set_wake() did (which is to upkeep gc->wake_active).
Let's fix that by setting gc->wake_active as GPIO_INTEN at suspend
time and restoring GPIO_INTEN at resume time.
NOTE a few quirks when thinking about this patch:
- Rockchip pinctrl hardware supports both "disable/enable" and
"mask/unmask". Right now we only use "disable/enable" and present
those to Linux as "mask/unmask". This should be OK because
enable/disable is optional and Linux will implement it in terms of
mask/unmask. At the moment we always tell hardware all interrupts
are unmasked (the boot default).
- At suspend time Linux tries to call "disable" on all interrupts and
also enables wakeup on all wakeup interrupts. One would think that
since "disable" is implemented as "mask" when "disable" isn't
provided and that since we were ignoring gc->wake_active that
nothing would have woken us up. That's not the case since Linux
"optimizes" things and just leaves interrutps unmasked, assuming it
could mask them later when they go off. That meant that at suspend
time all interrupts were actually being left enabled.
With this patch random non-wakeup interrupts no longer wake the system
up. Wakeup interrupts still wake the system up.

"Here's the set of driver core patches for 3.19-rc1.
They are dominated by the removal of the .owner field in platform
drivers. They touch a lot of files, but they are "simple" changes,
just removing a line in a structure.
Other than that, a few minor driver core and debugfs changes. There
are some ath9k patches coming in through this tree that have been
acked by the wireless maintainers as they relied on the debugfs
changes.
Everything has been in linux-next for a while"

Currently the driver mixes constant init data with runtime data, which
is far from being elegant and can invite potential hard to track issues.
This patch intends to solve this by introducing a new
samsung_pin_bank_data structure to hold only constant data known at
compile time, which can be copied to main samsung_pin_bank struct used
at runtime.
In addition, thanks to this change, all per-bank initdata can be marked
with const and __initconst keywords and dropped after init completes.
Signed-off-by: Tomasz Figa <tomasz.figa@gmail.com>
In order to separate initialization constants from runtime data, this
patch modifies the driver to store only constant data in
samsung_pin_ctrl struct and copy data required at runtime to
samsung_pinctrl_drv_data struct. This makes it possible to mark all
existing instances of samsung_pin_ctrl struct as const and __initconst.
Signed-off-by: Tomasz Figa <tomasz.figa@gmail.com>
This structure is not intended to be modified at runtime and functions
as constant data shared between multiple pin banks. This patch makes all
instances of it constant across the driver.
Signed-off-by: Tomasz Figa <tomasz.figa@gmail.com>
There is no code using it and in fact there are pin controller variants
that do not even have this field initialized in their init data. This
patch removes it completely.

The mxs pinctrl driver cannot handle when functions are not grouped by
name (which IMO is a bug). This happens for example if a
imx28-somemachine.dts provides a function that has the same name as a
function defined in imx28.dtsi.
The proper way to fix that would be to check for duplicates in the loops

The Rockchip pinctrl driver was calling
rockchip_gpio_direction_output() in the pin_config_set() callback.
This was just a shortcut for:
* rockchip_gpio_set()
* pinctrl_gpio_direction_output()
Unfortunately it's not so good to call pinctrl_gpio_direction_output()
from pin_config_set(). Specifically when initting hogs you'll get an

When dumping pinconf information in debugfs, config arguments are only
printed when a unit is present and the argument is != 0. For parameters
like the slew rate, this does not work. The slew rate uses a driver
specific format for the argument, i.e. 0 can be a valid argument and a
unit is not provided for it.
For that reason, add a flag to enable printing the argument instead of
inferring it from the presence of a unit and the value of the argument.

- Increase the default ARCH_NR_GPIO from 256 to 512. This
was done to avoid having a custom <asm/gpio.h> header for
the x86 architecture - GPIO is custom and complicated
enough as it is already! We want to move to a radix to
store the descriptors going forward, and finally get rid
of this fixed array size altogether.
- Endgame patching of the gpio_remove() semantics initiated
by Abdoulaye Berthe. It is not accepted by the system that
the removal of a GPIO chip fails during e.g. reboot or
shutdown, and therefore the return value has now painfully
been refactored away. For special cases like GPIO expanders
on a hot-pluggable bus like USB, we may later add some
gpiochip_try_remove() call, but for the cases we have now,
return values are moot.
- Some incremental refactoring of the gpiolib core and ACPI
GPIO library for more descriptor usage.
- Refactor the chained IRQ handler set-up method to handle
also threaded, nested interrupts and set up the parent IRQ
correctly. Switch STMPE and TC3589x drivers to use this
registration method.
- Add a .irq_not_threaded flag to the struct gpio_chip, so
that also GPIO expanders that block but are still not

By converting to the restart_notifier mechanism for restart, we allow

Since this mechanism may be one of several mechanisms registered, change
the post-ps_hold write timeout to be a more reasonable 1 second instead
of 10 seconds.

The SAMA5 and SAM9x5 series both have drive strength
options for the PIOs. This patch adds the ability to set
one of three hardware options for drive strengths of low,
medium or high for the each pin. The actual current output
of the chip based on the setting is defined in the datasheets
and varies per pins separate from banks and with supply
voltage.
This patch adds three new dt-bindings that allow setting the
strength when configuring pins. By default, no change will
be made to the drive strength of a pin from its reset value.
Due to the difference between the register addresses of the
SAMA5 and SAM9x5 series, a new sama5d3-pinctrl id was added.

commit 2243a87d90
"pinctrl: avoid duplicated calling enable_pinmux_setting for a pin"
removed the .disable callback from the struct pinmux_ops,
making the .enable() callback the only remaining callback.
However .enable() is a bad name as it seems to imply that a
muxing can also be disabled. Rename the callback to .set_mux()
and also take this opportunity to clean out any remaining
mentions of .disable() from the documentation.

There is currently a kludge to get the Makefile to move down
to sh-pfc:s drivers: the arch definitions are used twice to
get it done. However we can very well use the Kconfig symbol
for the SH PFC pin control feature itself: it doesn't matter
that it comes from a lower leaf in the Kconfig hierarchy which

Currently after configuring a GPIO pin as an interrupt related pinmux
registers are changed, but there is no protection from calling
gpio_direction_*() in a badly written driver, which would cause the same
pinmux register to be reconfigured for regular input/output and this
disabling interrupt capability of the pin.
This patch addresses this issue by moving pinmux reconfiguration to
.irq_{request,release}_resources() callback of irq_chip and calling
gpio_lock_as_irq() helper to prevent reconfiguration of pin direction.
Setting up a GPIO interrupt on Samsung SoCs is a two-step operation -
in addition to trigger configuration in a dedicated register, the pinmux
must be also reconfigured to GPIO interrupt, which is a different function
than normal GPIO input, although I/O-wise they both behave in the same way
and gpio_get_value() can be used on a pin configured as IRQ as well.
Such design implies subtleties such as gpio_direction_input() not having
to fail if a pin is already configured as an interrupt nor change the
configuration to normal input. But the FLAG_USED_AS_IRQ set in gpiolib by
gpio_lock_as_irq() is only used to check that gpio_direction_output() is
not called, it's not used to prevent gpio_direction_input() to be called.
So this is not a complete solution for Samsung SoCs but it's definitely a
move in the right direction.

On rk3288, for gpio bank 0, the registers which configure pull-up,
iomux, and drive strength don't implement the enable bits in the upper
half of the register, unlike the other gpio configuration registers,
and so the kernel must perform a read-modify-write of the register to
update a particular gpio in that bank.
The current code is actually clobbering the contents of the register,
so this fixes it by using regmap_update_bits and masking out only the
bits which require updating. In the case of bank0 on rk3288 the upper
enable bits will just get ignored, and the other configurations won't
get clobbered.

* Performance counter support for the arm CCN interconnect
* OMAP mailbox driver cleanups and consolidation
* PCI and SATA PHY drivers for SPEAr 13xx platforms

better model regulators/power.

The pinctrl-sunxi driver originally used the pin number as the gpio
range offset. This resulted in large, bogus gpio numbers for the
new sun6i-a31-r pinctrl devices.
This patch makes the driver number the gpios ranges starting from an
offset of 0, by subtracting the pin_base number from the pin number.
This also makes the system-wide gpio number match the pin number.
Tested on sun8i with sysfs exported gpios.
This patch also changes the GPIO bindings for R_PIO:
gpios = <&r_pio B N flag>;
Where B originally was the pinbank label (L or M) counted from A,
with this patch it becomes (L or M) counted from its pinbank base (L).
Thus
gpios = <&r_pio 10 11 0>; /* PL11 */
becomes
gpios = <&r_pio 0 11 0>; /* PL11 */
IMO this is correct, as the binding shows the bank offset and pin offset
within the bank for the GPIO controller. But I'm worried it might be a
bit confusing.

st_gpio_irqmux_handler() reads the status register to find out
which banks inside the controller have pending IRQs.
For each banks having pending IRQs, it calls the corresponding handler.
Problem is that current code restricts the number of possible banks inside the
controller to ST_GPIO_PINS_PER_BANK. This define represents the number of pins
inside a bank, so it shouldn't be used here.
On STiH407, PIO_FRONT0 controller has 10 banks, so IRQs pending in the two
last banks (PIO18 & PIO19) aren't handled.
This patch replace ST_GPIO_PINS_PER_BANK by the number of banks inside the
controller.

One of remaining limitations of current pinctrl-samsung driver was
the inability to parse multiple pinmux/pinconf group nodes grouped
inside a single device tree node. It made defining groups of pins for
single purpose, but with different parameters very inconvenient.
This patch implements Tegra-like support for grouping multiple pinctrl
groups inside one device tree node, by completely changing the way
pin groups and functions are parsed from device tree. The code creating
pinctrl maps from DT nodes has been borrowed from pinctrl-tegra, while
the initial creation of groups and functions has been completely
rewritten with following assumptions:
- each group consists of just one pin and does not depend on data
from device tree,
- each function is represented by a device tree child node of the
pin controller, which in turn can contain multiple child nodes
for pins that need to have different configuration values.
Device Tree bindings are fully backwards compatible. New functionality
can be used by defining a new pinctrl group consisting of several child
nodes, as on following example:
sd4_bus8: sd4-bus-width8 {
part-1 {
samsung,pins = "gpk0-3", "gpk0-4",

Handling of irq_chip operations for GPIO and WKUP external interrupts
is mostly the same, with the difference being offset of registers.
However currently the driver has all the code duplicated for both EINT
types, which is undesirable, because changes in irq_chip operations have
to be done to both instances of the same code.
This patch fixes this by creating exynos_irq_chip struct that has normal
irq_chip struct embedded and contain differences between particular EINT
types, which are three register offsets. One instance of code is removed
and the new structure is used instead to fetch necessary data instead of
samsung_pin_ctrl struct used previously.
While at it, the patch removes Exynos-specific fields from
aforementioned structure to improve layering of the driver.

This patch makes the pinctrl-samsung driver configure GPIO direction on
its own, without using the pinctrl_gpio_direction_*() "helpers". The
rationale behind this change is as follows:
- pinctrl-samsung does not need translation from GPIO namespace to
pinctrl namespace to handle GPIO operations - GPIO chip and offset
therein are enough to calculate necessary offsets and bit masks in
constant time,
- the pinctrl_gpio_direction_*() functions do not do anything useful
other than translating the pin into pinctrl namespace and calling the
.gpio_set_direction() from pinmux_ops of the controller,
- the undesirable side effect of using those helpers is losing the
ability to change GPIO direction in atomic context, because they
explicitly use a mutex for synchronization,
Results of this patch are:
- fixed warnings about scheduling while atomic in code that needs to
set GPIO direction in atomic context (e.g. interrupt handler),
- reduced overhead of bitbanging drivers that use gpio_direction_*(),
e.g. i2c-gpio.

be handled by giving the bank a special compatible property. But the nature

What the patch does:
1. Call pinmux_disable_setting ahead of pinmux_enable_setting
each time pinctrl_select_state is called
2. Remove the HW disable operation in pinmux_disable_setting function.
3. Remove the disable ops in struct pinmux_ops
4. Remove all the disable ops users in current code base.
Notes:
1. Great thanks for the suggestion from Linus, Tony Lindgren and
Stephen Warren and Everyone that shared comments on this patch.
2. The patch also includes comment fixes from Stephen Warren.
The reason why we do this:
1. To avoid duplicated calling of the enable_setting operation
without disabling operation inbetween which will let the pin
descriptor desc->mux_usecount increase monotonously.
2. The HW pin disable operation is not useful for any of the
existing platforms.
And this can be used to avoid the HW glitch after using the
item #1 modification.
In the following case, the issue can be reproduced:
1. There is a driver that need to switch pin state dynamically,
e.g. between "sleep" and "default" state
2. The pin setting configuration in a DTS node may be like this:
component a {
pinctrl-names = "default", "sleep";
pinctrl-0 = <&a_grp_setting &c_grp_setting>;
pinctrl-1 = <&b_grp_setting &c_grp_setting>;
}
The "c_grp_setting" config node is totally identical, maybe like
following one:
c_grp_setting: c_grp_setting {
pinctrl-single,pins = <GPIO48 AF6>;
}
3. When switching the pin state in the following official pinctrl
sequence:
pin = pinctrl_get();
state = pinctrl_lookup_state(wanted_state);
pinctrl_select_state(state);
pinctrl_put();
Test Result:
1. The switch is completed as expected, that is: the device's
pin configuration is changed according to the description in the
"wanted_state" group setting
2. The "desc->mux_usecount" of the corresponding pins in "c_group"
is increased without being decreased, because the "desc" is for
each physical pin while the setting is for each setting node
in the DTS.
Thus, if the "c_grp_setting" in pinctrl-0 is not disabled ahead
of enabling "c_grp_setting" in pinctrl-1, the desc->mux_usecount
will keep increasing without any chance to be decreased.
According to the comments in the original code, only the setting,
in old state but not in new state, will be "disabled" (calling
pinmux_disable_setting), which is correct logic but not intact. We
still need consider case that the setting is in both old state
and new state. We can do this in the following two ways:
1. Avoid to "enable"(calling pinmux_enable_setting) the "same pin
setting" repeatedly
2. "Disable"(calling pinmux_disable_setting) the "same pin setting",
actually two setting instances, ahead of enabling them.
Analysis:
1. The solution #2 is better because it can avoid too much
iteration.
2. If we disable all of the settings in the old state and one of
the setting(s) exist in the new state, the pins mux function
change may happen when some SoC vendors defined the
"pinctrl-single,function-off"
in their DTS file.
old_setting => disabled_setting => new_setting.
3. In the pinmux framework, when a pin state is switched, the
setting in the old state should be marked as "disabled".
Conclusion:
1. To Remove the HW disabling operation to above the glitch mentioned
above.
2. Handle the issue mentioned above by disabling all of the settings
in old state and then enable the all of the settings in new state.

When mapping the interrupts, the gpio_to_irq function did not consider
the bank number of the gpio pin in question, only the offset or the

Some drivers use disable_irq / enable_irq and do the work
clearing the source in another thread instead of using a threaded
interrupt handler.
The irqchip used not having irq_disable and irq_enable
callbacks in this case, will lead to unnecessary spurious
interrupts:
On a disable_irq in a chip without a handler for this, the irq
core will remember the disable, but not actually call into the
irqchip. With a level triggered interrupt (where the source has
not been cleared) this will lead to an immediate retrigger, at
which point the irq-core will mask the irq. So having an
irq_disable callback in the irqchip will save us the interrupt
firing a 2nd time for nothing.
Drivers using disable / enable_irq like this, will call
enable_irq when they finally have cleared the interrupt source,
without an enable_irq callback, this will turn into an unmask,
at which point the irq will trigger immediately because when it
was originally acked the level was still high, so the ack was
a nop.

As part of this effort, also get rid of the strange irq_base

The A23 and A31 support multiple interrupt banks. Support it by adding a linear
domain covering all the banks. It's trickier than it should because there's an
interrupt per bank, so we have multiple interrupts using the same domain.

This rewrites the SIRF pinctrl driver to allocate a state container
for the GPIO chip, just as is done for the pin controller, and
use the gpiochip_add_pin_range() to add the range from the gpiochip
side rather than adding the range from the pinctrl side.
All resulting changes are done in order to pass around a state
container rather than refer to a static global object.

The irq/pin mapping is used to lookup the pin to mux to the irq
function when the irq is enabled. It is created when gpio_to_irq
is called. Creating the mapping during init allows us to map the
interrupts directly from the device tree.
Originally the IRQ to pin mapping was created when gpio_to_irq
was called with a GPIO handle. The mapping in turn is used to mux
the pin into EINT mode.
If the mapping is created during gpio_to_irq, we can't use the
interrupts directly, i.e. through the DT with "interrupts = <&pio A 4>".
Instead we'd have to use "gpios = <&pio A B>", then pass the gpio
through to gpio_to_irq.

With commit 80cc3732 (pinctrl/at91: convert driver to use gpiolib irqchip)
gpiochip_set_chained_irqchip is called for PIOC, PIOD and PIOE. The
associated GPIO chip for the IRQ chip is overwritten each time, because
they share the same hard IRQ line.
Thus if an IRQ occurs on PIOC or PIOD, gpio_irq_handler will only check on
PIOE (the assigned GPIO chip) where no event occured. Thus the IRQ will
not be cleared, retriggering the ISR.
Fix that (like done before) by only set the PIOC GPIO chip to the IRQ chip
and walk the list in the irq handler.

When the support for the PRCM muxer on the A31 has been added, the global
static pinctl_desc definition has been left as is. Unfortunately, this
structure is used to register the pinctrl device, and prior to this
registration, we set the name and pins field.
Since this structure is shared across instances, that means that the latest
registered pinctrl device wins in setting the name, pins and pins numbers,
which is not really a good thing.

We still need to keep PINCTRL_SUNXI at the moment in order to preserve
bisectability. Indeed, during that merge window, we also introduced the

the fact that the options will be there, while ARCH_SUNXI still select
PINCTRL_SUNXI.

The Marvell Berlin boards have a group based pinmuxing mechanism. This
adds the core driver support. We actually do not need any information
about the pins here and only have the definition of the groups.
Let's take the example of the uart0 pinmuxing on the BG2Q. Balls BK4 and
BH6 are muxed to respectively UART0 RX and TX if the group GSM12 is set
to mode 0:
Group Modes Offset Base Offset LSB Bit Width
GSM12 3 sm_base 0x40 0x10 0x2
Ball Group Mode 0 Mode 1 Mode 2
BK4 GSM12 UART0_RX IrDA0_RX GPIO9
BH6 GSM12 UART0_TX IrDA0_TX GPIO10
So in order to configure BK4 -> UART0_TX and BH6 -> UART0_RX, we need
to set (sm_base + 0x40 + 0x10) &= ff3fffff.
As pin control registers are part of either chip control or system
control registers, that deal with a bunch of other functions we rely
on a regmap instead of exclusively remapping any resources.
