It has been a while since dove_defconfig was updated to recent development.
This patch adds all currently available Dove boards, including a DT-enabled
machine.
DT support requires to allow ATAGS passed by boot loader as most of them are
not yet capable of passing DT blobs. Also OF_SERIAL is enabled to actually
see the bootlog.
Finally, sdhci driver for Dove, mv_cesa, GPIO LEDs, and highmem support is
added.

Commit 97ee9f01 (ARM: OMAP: fix the ads7846 init code) have enabled the
pendown GPIO debounce time setting by the below sequence:
gpio_request_one()
gpio_set_debounce()
gpio_free()
It also revealed a bug in the OMAP GPIO handling code which prevented
the GPIO debounce clock to be disabled and CORE transition to low power
states.
Commit c9c55d9 (gpio/omap: fix off-mode bug: clear debounce settings on
free/reset) fixes the OMAP GPIO handling code by making sure that the
GPIO debounce clock gets disabled if no GPIO is requested from current
bank.
While fixing the OMAP GPIO handling code (in the right way), the above
commit makes the gpio_request->set_debounce->free sequence invalid as
after freeing the GPIO, the debounce settings are lost.
Fix the debounce settings by moving the debounce initialization to the
actual GPIO requesting code - the ads7846 driver.

This commit converts the 'LaCie Ethernet Disk mini v2' board to the
Device Tree. All devices that have existing Device Tree bindings are
converted over to the Device Tree, the other devices remain
instantiated in the old way, until the respective drivers get the
needed Device Tree bindings.

This commit adds basic DT support for the Orion5x SoC family. It adds
an orion5x.dtsi description of the Orion5x SoC as well as the needed
DT_MACHINE structure to support boards converted to DT in the future.
So far, the Device Tree contains the interrupt controller, the GPIO
bank, the UART controllers, the SPI controller, the watchdog, the SATA
controller, the I2C controller and the cryptographic engine.

The adt7476 device itself is not at reach of device tree,
AFAIK and requires more work at there?

should address the problems and mistakes you pointed and also
some of the pointed by Jason Cooper. The nand and i2c are now
defined at DT and I also removed the pointless defines and
ARM_APPENDED_DTB. It is based against the Linus' official

This patch adds DT board setup for the LaCie NAS Network Space Mini v2
(aka SafeBox). The hardware characteristics are very close to those of
the Network Space Lite v2. The main difference are:
- A GPIO fan which is only available on the NS2 Mini.
- A single USB host port is wired on the NS2 Mini. The NS2 Lite provides
an additional dual-mode USB port (host/device).

This board is derived from the Network Space v2 and a lot of hardware

- 1 SATA LED (bi-color, blue and red)
Note that the SATA LED is not compatible with the driver leds-ns2. The
LED behaviour ("on", "off" or "SATA activity blink") is controlled via
a single MPP (21).

- The code relies on rc_pci_fixup being called, which only happens
when CONFIG_PCI_QUIRKS is enabled, so add that to Kconfig. Omitting
this causes a booting failure with a non-obvious cause.

PMU interrupts start at IRQ_DOVE_PMU_START, not IRQ_DOVE_PMU_START + 1.
Fix the condition. (It may have been less likely to occur had the code
been written "if (irq >= IRQ_DOVE_PMU_START" which imho is the easier
to understand notation, and matches the normal way of thinking about
these things.)

Fix the acknowledgement of PMU interrupts on Dove: some Dove hardware
has not been sensibly designed so that interrupts can be handled in a
race free manner. The PMU is one such instance.
The pending (aka 'cause') register is a bunch of RW bits, meaning that
these bits can be both cleared and set by software (confirmed on the
Armada-510 on the cubox.)
Hardware sets the appropriate bit when an interrupt is asserted, and
software is required to clear the bits which are to be processed. If
we write ~(1 << bit), then we end up asserting every other interrupt
except the one we're processing. So, we need to do a read-modify-write
cycle to clear the asserted bit.
However, any interrupts which occur in the middle of this cycle will
also be written back as zero, which will also clear the new interrupts.
The upshot of this is: there is _no_ way to safely clear down interrupts
in this register (and other similarly behaving interrupt pending
registers on this device.) The patch below at least stops us creating
new interrupts.

CONFIG_OMAP_32K_TIMER is kind of standing on the single zImage way.
Make OMAP2+ timer code independant from the CONFIG_OMAP_32K_TIMER
setting.
To remove the dependancy, several conversions/additions had to be done:
1) Timer initialization functions are named by the platform
name and the clock source in use.
This also makes it possible to define and use the GPTIMER as the
clock source instead of the 32K timer on platforms that do not have
the 32K timer ip block or the 32K timer is not wired on the board.
Currently, the the timer is chosen in the machine_desc structure on
per board basis. Later, DT should be used to choose the timer.
2) Settings under the CONFIG_OMAP_32K_TIMER option are used as defaults
and those under !CONFIG_OMAP_32K_TIMER are removed.
This removes the CONFIG_OMAP_32K_TIMER on OMAP2+ timer code.
3) Since we have all the timers defined inside machine_desc structure
and we no longer need the fallback to gp_timer clock source in case
32k_timer clock source is unavailable (namely on AM33xx), we no
longer need the #ifdef around omap2_sync32k_clocksource_init()
function. Remove the #ifdef CONFIG_OMAP_32K_TIMER around the
omap2_sync32k_clocksource_init() function.

CLPS711X-target CPU can have a several FIQ interrupts. With this patch
we adds handling for a one which will be used for ALSA PCM later.
Since FIQ have a separate handler we only add "mask" and "unmask" calls
which will used for enable/disable_irq functions.

Armada 370 and XP come with an unit called coherency fabric. This unit
allows to use the Armada 370/XP as a nearly coherent architecture. The
coherency mechanism uses snoop filters to ensure the coherency between
caches, DRAM and devices. This mechanism needs a synchronization
barrier which guarantees that all the memory writes initiated by the
devices have reached their target and do not reside in intermediate
write buffers. That's why the architecture is not totally coherent and
we need to provide our own functions for some DMA operations.
Beside the use of the coherency fabric, the device units will have to
set the attribute flag of the decoding address window to select the
accurate coherency process for the memory transaction. This is done
each device driver programs the DRAM address windows. The value of the
attribute set by the driver is retrieved through the
orion_addr_map_cfg struct filled during the early initialization of
the platform.

Recent SoC such as Armada 370/XP came with the possibility to deal
with the I/O coherency by hardware. In this case the transaction
attribute of the window must be flagged as "Shared transaction". Once
this flag is set, then the transactions will be forced to be sent
through the coherency block, in other case transaction is driven
directly to DRAM.

Expose another DMA operations function: arm_dma_set_mask. This
function will be added to a custom DMA ops for Armada 370/XP.
Depending of its configuration Armada 370/XP can be set as a "nearly"
coherent architecture. In this case the DMA ops is made of:
- specific functions for this architecture
- already exposed arm DMA related functions
- the arm_dma_set_mask which was not exposed yet.

This enables SMP support on the Armada XP processor. It adds the
mandatory functions to support SMP such as: the SMP initialization

PJ4B is an implementation of the ARMv7 (such as the Cortex A9 for
example) released by Marvell. This CPU is currently found in
Armada 370 and Armada XP SoCs. This patch provides a support for the

This patch modifies pin control groups of SD pins on EXYNOS4210
and EXYNOS4X12 to use drive strength 3 as a default value which
corresponds to S5P_GPIO_DRVSTR_LV4 in legacy non-DT code.
This is needed at least on Origen board for sdhci2 to work and
if any other drive strength is required on each board, we can
overide it.

This patch adds a way to specify bindings between devices and power
domains using device tree.
A device can be bound to particular power domain by adding a
power-domain property containing a phandle to the domain. The device
will be bound to the domain before binding a driver to it and unbound
after unbinding a driver from it.

Now that the TTC driver has proper support for DT bindings, it is not
necessary for the registers to be mapped early. They will be mapped
during clock initialization using of_iomap(). Remove the early mapping.
In addition, remove the extraneous zynq_soc.h include from the timer
driver.

Let's stop spawning the pinctrl driver from the GPIO driver,
we have these two mechanisms broken apart now, and they can
each probe in isolation. If the GPIO driver cannot find its
pin controller (pinctrl-u300), the pin controller core will
tell it to defer probing.

This dts file is based on the Snow dts file in the Chromium OS kernel
tree with the following changes:
* Some details have been updated to match the exynos5250-smdk5250.dts
file from linux-next (as of c11068538994430547722dc9fb515a0ceefd5cb9).
* This file doesn't include references to hardware whose upstream
support isn't quite there yet. That includes most i2c devices.
Note that most i2c busses have been included with no devices.
The Snow dts file is mostly just an include of the "cros5250" dts file
which describes a class of similar boards. Support for other boards has
not yet been send upstream.
With this file and a change to use UART3 for serial output I can:
* Boot to a command line using either SD or EMMC as a root filesystem
* See the power button and lid switch using evtest.

The mvneta driver for the Marvell Armada 370/XP Ethernet devices has
gained proper clock framework integration, and the corresponding
Device Tree nodes now have a correct 'clocks' pointer.
The 'clock-frequency' properties in the various .dts files for Armada
370/XP boards have therefore become useless.

The mvneta driver now understands a standard 'clocks' clock pointer
property in the Device Tree nodes for the Ethernet devices, so we add
the right clock reference for the different Ethernet ports of the
Armada 370/XP SoCs.

Looks like the iommu framework does not have generic functions
exported for all the needs yet. The hardware specific functions
are defined in files like intel-iommu.h and amd-iommu.h. Follow
the same standard for omap-iommu.h.
This is needed because we are removing plat and mach includes
for ARM common zImage support. Further work should continue
in the iommu framework context as only pure platform data will
be communicated from arch/arm/*omap*/* code to the iommu
framework.

The pool_size is always PAGE_SIZE, and since it is a software
configuration paramter (and not a hardware description parameter), we
cannot make it part of the Device Tree binding, so we'd better remove
it from the platform_data as well.

mv_xor_platform_data used to be the platform_data structure associated
to the 'mv_xor' driver. This driver no longer exists, and this data
structure really contains the properties of each XOR channel part of a
given XOR engine. Therefore 'struct mv_xor_channel_data' is a more
appropriate name.

For Armada 370/XP we have the same problem that for the commit
cb01b63, so we applied the same solution: "The default 256 KiB
coherent pool may be too small for some of the Kirkwood devices, so
increase it to make sure that devices will be able to allocate their
buffers with GFP_ATOMIC flag"

For the new sun4i/Cubieboard (A10) support, lets re-strucure the
sun5i dts files to make it more generic. Those are the new
dts/dtsi files:
sunxi.dtsi - Devices common to all Allwinner sunXi SoC's
sun4i.dtsi - sun4i Devices, will include sunxi.dtsi
sun5i.dtsi - sun5i Devices, will include sunxi.dtsi
board.dts - will include either sun4i.dtsi or sun5i.dtsi
Additionally the "duart" label in the olinuxino.dts is changed to
"uart1".

With true DT clock providers available switch Kirkwood clock setup in
DT- enabled boards. While AUXDATA can be removed completely from bus
probing, some devices still don't know about DT. Therefore, some clkdev
aliases are created until these devices also move to DT.

Commit 8214513 ("ARM: EXYNOS: fix address for EXYNOS4 MDMA1")
changed EXYNOS specific setup of PL330 DMA engine to use 'non-secure'
mdma1 address instead of 'secure' one (from 0x12840000 to 0x12850000)
to fix issue with some Exynos4212 SOCs. Unfortunately it brakes
PL330 setup for revision 0 of Exynos4210 SOC (mdma1 device cannot
be found at 'non-secure' address):

savings. Program the power control registers to achieve this and

The broken voltage property has been replaced with auto detection based
on voltages available on vmmc voltage regulator, so there is no use for
it now.

Actually, SPI channel 0 on 2443 is mapped to HS SPI controller,
and to enable s3c2410-spi controller, we should power on channel
1 in PCLKCON. There is no channel 0 SPI on s3c2443, so delete its
clock.

On resuming from suspend the i2c configuration register that is part
of system controller resets to 0xf. This sets the interrupt source to
the new high speed i2c rather than the legacy one that we are using.
Save and restore the I2C_CFG register for exynos5 to fix this.

On Exynos5 we have a new high-speed i2c controller. The interrupt
sources for the legacy and new controller are muxed and are controlled
via the SYSCON I2C_CFG register. At reset the interrupt source is
configured for the high-speed controller, to continue using the old
i2c controller we need to modify the I2C_CFG register.

In order to start upstreaming Broadcom SoC support, create
a starting hierarchy, arch and dts files.
The first support SoC family that is planned is the
BCM281XX (BCM11130/11140/11351/28145/28155) family of dual A9 mobile
SoC cores.
This code is just the skeleton code for get the machine upstreamed. It
has been made MULTIPLATFORM compatible.
Next steps
----------
Upstream a basic set of drivers - sufficient for a console boot to
ramdisk. These will includer timer, gpio, i2c drivers.
After this basic set, we will proceed with a more comprehensive set
of drivers for the 281XX SoC family.

transactions between the flash controller and the NAND chip.

The GIC interface numbering does not necessarily follow the logical
CPU numbering, especially for complex topologies such as multi-cluster
systems.
Fortunately we can easily probe the GIC to create a mapping as the
Interrupt Processor Targets Registers for the first 32 interrupts are
read-only, and each field returns a value that always corresponds to
the processor reading the register.
Initially all mappings target all CPUs in case an IPI is required to
boot secondary CPUs. It is refined as those CPUs discover what their
actual mapping is.

In ARM SMP systems the MPIDR register ([23:0] bits) is used to uniquely
identify CPUs.
In order to retrieve the logical CPU index corresponding to a given
MPIDR value and guarantee a consistent translation throughout the kernel,
this patch adds a look-up based on the MPIDR[23:0] so that kernel subsystems
can use it whenever the logical cpu index corresponding to a given MPIDR
value is needed.

As soon as the device tree is unflattened the cpu logical to physical
mapping is carried out in setup_arch to build a proper array of MPIDR and
corresponding logical indexes.
The mapping could have been carried out using the flattened DT blob and
related primitives, but since the mapping is not needed by early boot
code it can safely be executed when the device tree has been uncompressed to
its tree data structure.
This patch adds the arm_dt_init_cpu maps() function call in setup_arch().
If the kernel is not compiled with DT support the function is empty and
no logical mapping takes place through it; the mapping carried out in
smp_setup_processor_id() is left unchanged.
If DT is supported the mapping created in smp_setup_processor_id() is overriden.
The DT mapping also sets the possible cpus mask, hence platform
code need not set it again in the respective smp_init_cpus() functions.

When booting through a device tree, the kernel cpu logical id map can be
initialized using device tree data passed by FW or through an embedded blob.
This patch adds a function that parses device tree "cpu" nodes and
retrieves the corresponding CPUs hardware identifiers (MPIDR).
It sets the possible cpus and the cpu logical map values according to
the number of CPUs defined in the device tree and respective properties.
The device tree HW identifiers are considered valid if all CPU nodes contain
a "reg" property, there are no duplicate "reg" entries and the DT defines a
CPU node whose "reg" property matches the MPIDR[23:0] of the boot CPU.
The primary CPU is assigned cpu logical number 0 to keep the current convention
valid.

This patch applies some basic changes to the smp_setup_processor_id()
ARM implementation to make the code that builds cpu_logical_map more
uniform across the kernel.
The function now prints the full extent of the boot CPU MPIDR[23:0] and
initializes the cpu_logical_map for CPUs up to nr_cpu_ids.

mask definitions to access the MPIDR without relying on hardcoded
masks. This patch moves the MPIDR register masks definition to
a header file and defines a macro to simplify access to MPIDR bit fields

Currently, reading /proc/cpuinfo provides userspace with CPU ID of
the CPU carrying out the read from the file. This is fine as long as all
CPUs in the system are the same. With the advent of big.LITTLE and
heterogenous ARM systems this approach provides user space with incorrect
bits of information since CPU ids in the system might differ from the one
provided by the CPU reading the file.
This patch updates the cpuinfo show function so that a read from
/proc/cpuinfo prints HW information for all online CPUs at once, mirroring
x86 behaviour.

The advent of big.LITTLE ARM platforms requires the kernel to be able
to identify the MIDRs of all online CPUs upon request. MIDRs are stashed
at boot time so that kernel subsystems can detect the MIDR of online CPUs
by simply retrieving per-CPU data updated by all booted CPUs.

On tracehook-friendly platforms, a system call number of -1 falls
through without running much code or taking much action.
ARM is different. This adds a short-circuit check in the trace path to
avoid any additional work, as suggested by Russell King, to make sure
that ARM behaves the same way as other platforms.

There is very little difference in the TIF_SECCOMP and TIF_SYSCALL_WORK
path in entry-common.S, so merge TIF_SECCOMP into TIF_SYSCALL_WORK and
move seccomp into the syscall_trace_enter() handler.
Expanded some of the tracehook logic into the callers to make this code
more readable. Since tracehook needs to do register changing, this portion
is best left in its own function instead of copy/pasting into the callers.
Additionally, the return value for secure_computing() is now checked
and a -1 value will result in the system call being skipped.

Fix the video clock setting when custom timings are used with
pclock <= 27MHz. Existing video clock selection uses PLL2 mode
which results in a 54MHz clock whereas using the MXI mode results
in a 27MHz clock (which is the one actually desired).
This bug affects the Enhanced Definition (ED) support on DM644x.
Without this patch, out-range signals errors are were observed on
the TV when viewing ED. An out-of-range signal is often caused when
the field rate is above the rate that the television will handle.

SPEAr platform provides a provision to control chipselects of ARM PL022
Prime Cell spi controller through its system registers, which otherwise
remains under PL022 control which some protocols do not want.
This commit intends to provide the spi chipselect control in software over
gpiolib interface. spi chip drivers can use the exported gpiolib interface to
define their chipselect through DT or platform data.

This pushes the dependencies on the Integrator/AP system
controller (SC) down into the PCI V3 driver and the
AP-specific board file.
First, the platform data for the PL010 UART is moved into
the integrator_ap.c board file, and the Integrator/CP is
assigned with NULL pdata. This way the callback functions
can reference the dynamically remapped AP syscon address
in both the ATAG and DT boot path, and this remapping
is localized to the board file.
Second the PCIv3 driver is making its own dynamic remapping
of the SC for the few registers it is using. When we
convert the PCIv3 driver over to using device tree having a
dynamically assigned base address will be useful, but we
will have to use the definition from <mach/platform.h> for
now, the only improvement is that it's done dynamically.

device tree, by mapping the AP controller registers first,
then registering the SoC device, and then populating the device
tree with the SoC device as parent.
Introduce some helpers in the core to provide sysfs files
detailing the use of the SoC ID which will later be reused by
the Integrator/CP patch for the same bus grouping.

Move Tegra's debug-macro.S over to the common debug macro directory.
Move Tegra's debug UART selection menu into ARM's Kconfig.debug, so that
all related options are selected in the same place.
Tegra's uncompress.h is left in mach-tegra/include/mach; it will be
removed whenever Tegra is converted to multi-platform.

In order to move Tegra's debug-macro.S to a common location for single
zImage, it must not rely on any machine-specific header files such as
<mach/iomap.h>. Duplicate the few physical address definitions that
debug-macro.S relies upon directly into the file.
To avoid tegra_io_desc[] requiring shared knowledge of the UART
mapping's virtual address, use a virtual address outside the ranges
in tegra_io_desc[]. Call debug_ll_io_init() to propagate the mapping
beyond the early pages tables.

Prior to this change, Tegra's debug-macro.S relied on uncompress.h having
determined which UART to use, and whether it was safe to use the UART
(i.e. is it not in reset, and is clocked). This determination was
communicated from uncompress.h to debug-macro.S using a few bytes of
Tegra's IRAM (an on-SoC RAM). This had the disadvantage that uncompress.h
was a required part of the kernel boot process; booting a non-compressed
kernel would not allow earlyprintk to operate.
This change duplicates the UART selection and validation logic into
debug-macro.S so that the reliance on uncompress.h is removed.
This also helps out with single-zImage work, since there is currently no
support for using any uncompress.h with single-zImage.

Delete CONFIG_TEGRA_DEBUG_UART_AUTO_SCRATCH; it's not useful any more:
* No upstream bootloader currently or will ever support this option.
* CONFIG_TEGRA_DEBUG_UART_AUTO_ODMDATA is a much more direct alternative.
Merge the fixed and automatic UART selection menus into a single choice
for simplicity; now you either pick AUTO_ODMDATA or a single fixed UART,
rather than potentially having an AUTO option override whatever fixed
option was chosen.
Remove TEGRA_DEBUG_UART_NONE; if you don't want a Tegra DEBUG_LL UART,
simply don't turn on DEBUG_LL. NONE used to be the default option, so
pick AUTO_ODMDATA as the new default.

SPARSE_IRQ is required for single zImage support.
With this enabled, we can delete <mach/irqs.h>. This requires removing
one unnecessary include of that file, and hard-coding the PCIe IRQ into
the PCIe driver. This is a hack that will be dealt with as part of
converting the PCIe driver into a true DT-supporting driver.

The Tegra RTC maintains seconds and milliseconds counters, and five alarm
registers. The alarms and other interrupts may wake the system from
low-power state.
Define a DT binding for this HW module, and add the module into the Tegra

The Tegra timer provides a number of 29-bit timer channels, a single
32-bit free running counter, and in the Tegra30 variant, 5 watchdog modules.
The first two channels may also trigger a legacy watchdog reset.
Define a DT binding for this HW module, and add the module into the Tegra
device tree files.

Commit "ARM: OMAP2+: Add device-tree support for 32kHz counter"
added structure omap_counter_match to the OMAP2 timer code. When
CONFIG_OMAP_32K_TIMER is not defined this structure generates the
following as it is not used.

The OMAP2+ system timer code stores the physical address of the timer
but never uses it. Remove this and clean-up the code by removing the
local variable "size" and changing the names of the local variables
mem_rsrc and irq_rsrc to mem and irq, respectively.

The omap_dm_timer_prepare function is a local function only used in the
dmtimer.c file. Therefore, make this a static function and remove its
declaration from the dmtimer.h file.

Only OMAP1 devices use the omap_dm_timer_reset() and so require the
omap_dm_timer_wait_for_reset() and __omap_dm_timer_reset() functions.
Therefore combine these into a single function called omap_dm_timer_reset()
and simplify the code.
The omap_dm_timer_reset() function is now the only place that is using the
omap_dm_timer structure member "sys_stat". Therefore, remove this member and
just use the register offset definition to simplify and clean-up the code. The
TISTAT register is only present on revision 1 timers and so check for this in
the omap_dm_timer_reset() function.
Please note that for OMAP1 devices, the TIOCP_CFG register does not have the
clock-activity field and so when we reset the timer for an OMAP1 device we
only need to configure the idle-mode field in the TIOCP_CFG register.

Hook up the required regulators, I2C DDC adapter and hotplug detect GPIO
to the Tamonten HDMI output. Carrier boards still need to explicitly
enable the output to use it.

enabled yet, due to potential issues with having multiple outputs enabled.
Correct DDC I2C frequency to 100KHz.
