Reset controller fix for v5.2
This tag removes a redundant device pointer NULL check from
__reset_control_get_from_lookup to fix a static code checker

reset: remove redundant null check on pointer dev

Signed-off-by: Olof Johansson <olof@lixom.net>
Pointer dev is being dereferenced when passed to the inlined
functon dev_name, however, dev is later being null checked
so at first this seems like a potential null pointer dereference.
In fact, _reset_control_get_from_lookup is only ever called from
__reset_control_get, right after checking dev->of_node hence
dev can never be null. Clean this up by removing the redundant
null check.
Thanks to Philipp Zabel for spotting that dev can never be null.

Create a separate reset driver that uses the reset operations in
reset-simple. The reset driver for the SoCFPGA platform needs to
register early in order to be able bring online timers that needed
early in the kernel bootup.
We do not need this early reset driver for Stratix10, because on
arm64, Linux does not need the timers are that in reset. Linux is
able to run just fine with the internal armv8 timer. Thus, we use
a new binding "altr,stratix10-rst-mgr" for the Stratix10 platform.
The Stratix10 platform will continue to use the reset-simple platform
driver, while the 32-bit platforms(Cyclone5/Arria5/Arria10) will use
the early reset driver.

Currently the reset core has internal support for counting the number of
resets for a device described in DT. Generalize this to devices using
lookup resets, and export it for public use.

As for today HSDK reset driver implements only .reset() callback.
In case of driver which implements one of standard
reset controller usage pattern
(call *_deassert() in probe(), call *_assert() in remove())
that leads to inoperability of this reset driver.
Improve HSDK reset driver by calling .reset() callback inside of
.deassert() callback to avoid each reset controller
user adaptation for work with both reset methods
(reset() and {.assert() & .deassert()} pair)

The most noteworthy SoC driver changes this time include:
- The TEE subsystem gains an in-kernel interface to access the TEE
from device drivers.
- The reset controller subsystem gains a driver for the Qualcomm
Snapdragon 845 Power Domain Controller.
- The Xilinx Zynq platform now has a firmware interface for its
platform management unit. This contains a firmware "ioctl" interface
that was a little controversial at first, but the version we merged
solved that by not exposing arbitrary firmware calls to user space.
- The Amlogic Meson platform gains a "canvas" driver that is used
for video processing and shared between different high-level drivers.
The rest is more of the usual, mostly related to SoC specific power
management support and core drivers in drivers/soc:
- Several Renesas SoCs (RZ/G1N, RZ/G2M, R-Car V3M, RZ/A2M) gain new
features related to power and reset control.
- The Mediatek mt8183 and mt6765 SoC platforms gain support for
their respective power management chips.
- A new driver for NXP i.MX8, which need a firmware interface for
power management.
- The SCPI firmware interface now contains support estimating power
usage of performance states
- The NVIDIA Tegra "pmc" driver gains a few new features, in particular
a pinctrl interface for configuring the pads.
- Lots of small changes for Qualcomm, in particular the "smem"
device driver.
- Some cleanups for the TI OMAP series related to their sysc
controller.
Additional cleanups and bugfixes in SoC specific drivers include the
Meson, Keystone, NXP, AT91, Sunxi, Actions, and Tegra platforms.

Pull overflow updates from Kees Cook:
"This adds the new overflow checking helpers and adds them to the
2-factor argument allocators. And this adds the saturating size
helpers and does a treewide replacement for the struct_size() usage.
Additionally this adds the overflow testing modules to make sure
everything works.
I'm still working on the treewide replacements for allocators with
"simple" multiplied arguments:
*alloc(a * b, ...) -> *alloc_array(a, b, ...)
and
*zalloc(a * b, ...) -> *calloc(a, b, ...)
as well as the more complex cases, but that's separable from this
portion of the series. I expect to have the rest sent before -rc1
closes; there are a lot of messy cases to clean up.

- Use overflow helpers in 2-factor allocators (Kees, Rasmus)
- Introduce overflow test module (Rasmus, Kees)
- Introduce saturating size helper functions (Matthew, Kees)

One of the more common cases of allocation size calculations is finding
the size of a structure that has a zero-sized array at the end, along
with memory for some number of elements for that array. For example:
struct foo {
int stuff;
void *entry[];
};
instance = kmalloc(sizeof(struct foo) + sizeof(void *) * count, GFP_KERNEL);
Instead of leaving these open-coded and prone to type mistakes, we can
now use the new struct_size() helper:
instance = kmalloc(struct_size(instance, entry, count), GFP_KERNEL);
This patch makes the changes for kmalloc()-family (and kvmalloc()-family)
uses. It was done via automatic conversion with manual review for the
"CHECKME" non-standard cases noted below, using the following Coccinelle
script:
// pkey_cache = kmalloc(sizeof *pkey_cache + tprops->pkey_tbl_len *
// sizeof *pkey_cache->table, GFP_KERNEL);

Commit 7af1bb19f1d7 ("reset: add support for non-DT systems")
introduced reset control lookup mechanism for boards that still use
board files.
The routine used to register lookup entries takes the corresponding
reset_controlled_dev structure as argument.
It's been determined however that for the first user of this new
interface - davinci psc driver - it will be easier to register the
lookup entries using the reset controller device name.
This patch changes the way lookup entries are added.

The reset framework only supports device-tree. There are some platforms
however, which need to use it even in legacy, board-file based mode.
An example of such architecture is the DaVinci family of SoCs which
supports both device tree and legacy boot modes and we don't want to
introduce any regressions.
We're currently working on converting the platform from its hand-crafted
clock API to using the common clock framework. Part of the overhaul will
be representing the chip's power sleep controller's reset lines using
the reset framework.
This changeset extends the core reset code with a new reset lookup
entry structure. It contains data allowing the reset core to associate
reset lines with devices by comparing the dev_id and con_id strings.
It also provides a function allowing drivers to register lookup entries
with the framework.
The new lookup function is only called as a fallback in case the
of_node field is NULL and doesn't change anything for current users.
Tested with a dummy reset driver with several lookup entries.
An example lookup table registration from a driver can be found below:
static struct reset_control_lookup foobar_reset_lookup[] = {
RESET_LOOKUP("foo.0", "foo", 15),
RESET_LOOKUP("bar.0", NULL, 5),
};
foobar_probe()
{
...
reset_controller_add_lookup(&rcdev, foobar_reset_lookup,
ARRAY_SIZE(foobar_reset_lookup));
...

Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.
By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.
Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.
How this work was done:
Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
- file had no licensing information it it.
- file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
- file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,
Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.
The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.
The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).
All documentation files were explicitly excluded.
The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.
- when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
COPYING file license applied.
For non */uapi/* files that summary was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 11139
and resulted in the first patch in this series.
If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930
and resulted in the second patch in this series.
- if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
it (per prior point). Results summary:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270
GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17
LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15
GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14
((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5
LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4
LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1
and that resulted in the third patch in this series.
- when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
the concluded license(s).
- when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.
- In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).
- When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
- If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
in time.
In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.
Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.
In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.
Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct
This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.
These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

ARC AXS10x boards support custom IP-block which allows to control
reset signals of selected peripherals. For example DW GMAC, etc...
This block is controlled via memory-mapped register (AKA CREG) which
represents up-to 32 reset lines. This regiter is self-clearing so we
don't need to deassert line after reset.
As of today only the following lines are used:
- DW GMAC - line 5

The reset controllers (on xRX200 and newer SoCs have two of them) are
provided by the RCU module. This was initially implemented as a simple
reset controller. However, the RCU module provides more functionality
(ethernet GPHYs, USB PHY, etc.), which makes it a MFD device.
The old reset controller driver implementation from
arch/mips/lantiq/xway/reset.c did not honor this fact.
For some devices the request and the status bits are different.

By now there are drivers using shared reset controls and (de)assert
calls on platforms with self-deasserting reset lines and thus reset
drivers that do not implement .assert() and .deassert().
As long as the initial state of the reset line is deasserted, there
is no reason for a reset_control_assert call to return an error for
shared reset controls, or for a reset_control_deassert call to return
an error for either shared or exclusive reset controls: after a call
to reset_control_deassert the reset line is guaranteed to be deasserted,
and after a call to reset_control_assert it is valid for the reset
line to stay deasserted for shared reset controls.

Many devices may want to request a bunch of resets and control them. So
it's better to manage them as an array. Add APIs to _get() an array of
reset_control, reusing the _assert(), _deassert(), and _reset() APIs for
single reset controls. Since reset controls already may control multiple
reset lines with a single hardware bit, from the user perspective, reset
control arrays are not at all different from single reset controls.
Note that these APIs don't guarantee that the reset lines managed in the
array are handled in any particular order.

Some TI Keystone family of SoCs contain a system controller (like the
Power Management Micro Controller (PMMC) on 66AK2G SoCs) that manage
the low-level device control (like clocks, resets etc) for the various
hardware modules present on the SoC. These device control operations
are provided to the host processor OS through a communication protocol
called the TI System Control Interface (TI SCI) protocol.
This patch adds a reset driver that communicates to the system
controller over the TI SCI protocol for performing reset management
of various devices present on the SoC. Various reset functionalities
are achieved by the means of different TI SCI device operations
provided by the TI SCI framework.

Rename the internal __reset_control_get/put functions to
__reset_control_get/put_internal and add an exported
__reset_control_get equivalent to __of_reset_control_get
that takes a struct device parameter.
This avoids the confusing call to __of_reset_control_get in
the non-DT case and fixes the devm_reset_control_get_optional
function to return NULL if RESET_CONTROLLER is enabled but
dev->of_node == NULL.

The Allwinner reset controller has 32-bit registers, so translating
the reset cell number into a register and bit offset should not use
any architecture dependent data size. Otherwise this breaks for 64-bit
architectures like arm64.
Fix this by making it clear that it's the hardware register width which
matters here in the calculation.

The SoC-FPGA reset controller driver defines NR_BANKS as 4 and uses that define
for two unrelated purposes. It is used
1. as an increment for reset line banks which are 32-bit registers with 4-byte
aligned addresses.
2. as the total number of reset line banks which together with the number of
resets per bank (32) limits the total number of useable resets to 128 and the
highest useable reset ID to 127.
This is clearly wrong as there are resets with higher IDs than 127 defined in
include/dt-bindings/reset/altr,rst-mgr.h and altr,rst-mgr-a10.h.
The patch introduces a new define BANK_INCREMENT for calculating the register
addresses as before and increases NR_BANKS to 8 for useable reset IDs up to 255.

For a shared reset, when the reset is successful, the triggered_count is
incremented when trying to call the reset callback, so that another device
sharing the same reset line won't trigger it again. If the reset has not
been triggered successfully, the trigger_count should be decremented.
The code does the opposite, and decrements the trigger_count on success.
As a consequence, another device sharing the reset will be able to trigger
it again.
Fixed be removing negation in from of the error code of the reset function.

Driver updates for ARM SoCs, including a couple of newly added drivers:
- A new driver for the power management controller on TI Keystone
- Support for the prerelease "SCPI" firmware protocol that ended up
being shipped by Amlogic in their GXBB SoC.
- A soc_device can now be matched using a glob from inside the
kernel, when another driver wants to know the specific chip
it is running on and cannot find out from DT, firmware or hardware.
- Renesas SoCs now support identification through the soc_device
interface, both in user space and kernel.
- Renesas r8a7743 and r8a7745 gain support for their system controller
- A new checking module for the ARM "PSCI" (not to be confused
with "SCPI" mentioned above) firmware interface.
- A new driver for the Tegra GMI memory interface
- Support for the Tegra firmware interfaces with their
power management controllers
As usual, the updates for the reset controller framework are merged
here, as they tend to touch multiple SoCs as well, including a new
driver for the Oxford (now Broadcom) OX820 chip and the Tegra
bpmp interface.

Some SoCs (for example Amlogic GXBB) implement a reset controller which
only supports a reset pulse (triggered via reset_control_reset). At the
same time multiple devices (in case of the Amlogic GXBB SoC both USB
PHYs) are sharing the same reset line.
This patch allows using reset_control_reset also for shared resets.
There are limitations though:
reset_control_reset can only be used if reset_control_assert was not
used yet.
reset_control_assert can only be used if reset_control_reset was not
used yet.
For shared resets the reset is only triggered once for the lifetime of
the reset_control instance (the reset can be triggered again if all
consumers of that specific reset_control are gone, as the reset
framework will free the reset_control instance in that case).

In some SoCs some hw-blocks share a reset control. Add support for this
setup by adding new:
reset_control_get_shared()
devm_reset_control_get_shared()
devm_reset_control_get_shared_by_index()
methods to get a reset_control. Note that this patch omits adding of_
variants, if these are needed later they can be easily added.
This patch also changes the behavior of the existing exclusive
reset_control_get() variants, if these are now called more then once
for the same reset_control they will return -EBUSY. To catch existing
drivers triggering this error (there should not be any) a WARN_ON(1)
is added in this path.
When a reset_control is shared, the behavior of reset_control_assert /
deassert is changed, for shared reset_controls these will work like the
clock-enable/disable and regulator-on/off functions. They will keep a
deassert_count, and only (re-)assert the reset after reset_control_assert
has been called as many times as reset_control_deassert was called.
Calling reset_control_assert without first calling reset_control_deassert
is not allowed on a shared reset control. Calling reset_control_reset is
also not allowed on a shared reset control.

-ENOENT when the 'resets' property doesn't exists or is an empty entry.
However when a connection ID is given it returns -EINVAL when the 'resets'

because the error code returned by of_property_match_string() is just

returns -EINVAL.

device tree entry. The 'altr,modrst-offset' property is the first register
into the reset manager that is used for bringing peripherals out of reset.
The driver assumes a modrst-offset of 0x10 in order to support legacy
Cyclone5/Arria5 hardware.

Add reset driver for the Reset Generation Unit (RGU) found on NXP
LPC18xx and LPC43xx devies. This reset controller features up to 64
reset lines connected to different blocks and peripheral in the SoC.
Most reset lines on the controller are self clearing except for
those dealing with the Cortex-M0 cores on LPC43xx devices.
This driver also registers a restart handler that can be used to
reset the entire device.

Call spin_lock_init() before the spinlocks are used, both in early init

I have been observing lockdep complaining [1] during boot on my a80 optimus [2]

and has been tested on a few other sunxi platforms without issue.

They are dominated by the removal of the .owner field in platform

removing a line in a structure.
Other than that, a few minor driver core and debugfs changes. There are
some ath9k patches coming in through this tree that have been acked by

This tag adds support to STiH407 reset controllers:

2. st,stih407-softreset
3. st,stih407-picophyreset
This patch adds softreset, powerdown and picophy reset controllers for
the STiH407 SoC.
With this patch three new devices are registered: -
1. st,stih407-powerdown
2. st,stih407-softreset
3. st,stih407-picophyreset
All three devices use system configuration registers mapped via regmap to
perform the reset or powerdown. The powerdown controller also has
an acknowledgement.
A separate picophy reset controller manages the different reset channels within
the picophy, which have a different polarity to the other system softresets.
Managing these different picophy softreset channels is necessary to correctly
handle resuming from suspend when USB2 devices are plugged into the USB3 port.

SoC-near driver changes that we're merging through our tree. Mostly
because they depend on other changes we have staged, but in some cases
because the driver maintainers preferred that we did it this way.
This contains a largeish cleanup series of the omap_l3_noc bus driver,
cpuidle rework for Exynos, some reset driver conversions and a long
branch of TI EDMA fixes and cleanups, with more to come next release.
The TI EDMA cleanups is a shared branch with the dmaengine tree, with
a handful of Davinci-specific fixes on top.
After discussion at last year's KS (and some more on the mailing lists),
we are here adding a drivers/soc directory. The purpose of this is
to keep per-vendor shared code that's needed by different drivers but
that doesn't fit into the MFD (nor drivers/platform) model. We expect
to keep merging contents for this hierarchy through arm-soc so we can
keep an eye on what the vendors keep adding here and not making it a
free-for-all to shove in crazy stuff.

This patch adds a reset controller implementation for STMicroelectronics
STi family SoCs; it allows a group of related reset like controls found
in multiple system configuration registers to be represented by a single
controller device. System configuration registers are accessed through
the regmap framework and the mfd/syscon driver.
The implementation optionally supports waiting for the reset action to
be acknowledged in a separate status register and supports both
active high and active low reset lines. These properties are common across
all the reset channels in a specific reset controller instance, hence
all channels in a paritcular controller are expected to behave in the
same way.
