b7abc5c53e [POWERPC] Fix Kexec/Kdump for power6
On Power machines supporting VRMA, Kexec/Kdump does not work.
VRMA (virtual real-mode area) means that accesses with IR/DR = 0
(i.e. the MMU "off") actually still go through the hash table,
using entries put there by the hypervisor.

This means that when we clear out the hash table on kexec, we need to
make sure these entries are left untouched.

This also adds plpar_pte_read_raw() on the lines of
plpar_pte_remove_raw().

4cefebb1b4 [POWERPC] Fix stolen time for SMT without LPAR
For POWERPC, stolen time accounts for cycles lost to the hypervisor or
PURR cycles attributed to the other SMT thread.  Hence, when a PURR is
available, we should still calculate stolen time, irrespective of being
virtualised.

8dab5241d0 Rework ptep_set_access_flags and fix sun4c
Some changes done a while ago to avoid pounding on ptep_set_access_flags and
update_mmu_cache in some race situations break sun4c which requires
update_mmu_cache() to always be called on minor faults.

This patch reworks ptep_set_access_flags() semantics, implementations and
callers so that it's now responsible for returning whether an update is
necessary or not (basically whether the PTE actually changed).  This allow
fixing the sparc implementation to always return 1 on sun4c.

4508dc21fe [POWERPC] Merge CPU features pertaining to icache coherency
Currently the powerpc kernel has a 64-bit only feature,
COHERENT_ICACHE used for those CPUS which maintain icache/dcache
coherency in hardware (POWER5, essentially).  It also has a feature,
SPLIT_ID_CACHE, which is used on CPUs which have separate i and
d-caches, which is to say everything except 601 and Freescale E200.

In nearly all the places we check the SPLIT_ID_CACHE, what we actually
care about is whether the i and d-caches are coherent (which they will
be, trivially, if they're the same cache).

This tries to clarify the situation a little.  The COHERENT_ICACHE
feature becomes availble on 32-bit and is set for all CPUs where i and
d-cache are effectively coherent, whether this is due to special logic
(POWER5) or because they're unified.  We check this, instead of
SPLIT_ID_CACHE nearly everywhere.

The SPLIT_ID_CACHE feature itself is replaced by a UNIFIED_ID_CACHE
feature with reversed sense, set only on 601 and Freescale E200.  In
the two places (one Freescale BookE specific) where we really care
whether it's a unified cache, not whether they're coherent, we check
this feature.  The CPUs with unified cache are so few, we could
consider replacing this feature bit with explicit checks against the
PVR.

This will make unifying the 32-bit and 64-bit cache flush code a
little more straightforward.

8e561e7eda [POWERPC] Kill typedef-ed structs for hash PTEs and BATs
Using typedefs to rename structure types if frowned on by CodingStyle.
However, we do so for the hash PTE structure on both ppc32 (where it's
called "PTE") and ppc64 (where it's called "hpte_t").  On ppc32 we
also have such a typedef for the BATs ("BAT").

This removes this unhelpful use of typedefs, in the process
bringing ppc32 and ppc64 closer together, by using the name "struct
hash_pte" in both cases.

in the two cases.

f21f49ea63 [POWERPC] Remove the dregs of APUS support from arch/powerpc
APUS (the Amiga Power-Up System) is not supported under arch/powerpc
and it's unlikely it ever will be.  Therefore, this patch removes the
fragments of APUS support code from arch/powerpc which have been
copied from arch/ppc.

A few APUS references are left in asm-powerpc in .h files which are
still used from arch/ppc.

4db68bfe71 [POWERPC] Split out asm-ppc/mmu.h portions for the "classic" hash-based MMU
arch/powerpc still relies on asm-ppc/mmu.h for most 32-bit MMU types.
This is another step towards fixing this.  It takes the portions
of asm-ppc/mmu.h related to the "classic" 32-bit hash page table MMU
which are still relevant in arch/powerpc and puts them in a new
asm-powerpc/mmu-hash32.h, included when appropriate from
asm-powerpc/mmu.h.

d8c391a559 [POWERPC] Donate idle CPU cycles on dedicated partitions
A Power6 can give up CPU cycles on a dedicated CPU (as opposed to a
shared CPU) to other shared processors if the administrator asks for it
(via the HMC).

This enables that to work properly on P6.

This just involves setting a bit in the CAS structure as well as the
VPA.  To donate cycles, a CPU has to have all SMT threads idle and
have the donate bit set in the VPA.  Then call H_CEDE.

The reason why shared processors just aren't used is because dedicated
CPUs are guaranteed an actual processor, yet the system is still able to
increase the capacity of the shared CPU pool.

Also rename the VPA's cpuctls_task_attrs field to a more accurate name.

69d15f6b35 [POWERPC] Consolidate sys_sigaltstack
sys_sigaltstack is the same on 32bit and 64 and we can consolidate it
to signal.c.  The only difference is that the 32bit code uses ints
for the unused register paramaters and 64bit unsigned long.  I've
changed it to unsigned long because it's the same width on 32bit.

(I also wonder who came up with this awkward calling convention.. :))

e17666ba48 [POWERPC] ptrace updates & new, better requests
The powerpc ptrace interface is dodgy at best. We have defined our
"own" versions of GETREGS/SETREGS/GETFPREGS/SETFPREGS that strangely
take arguments in reverse order from other archs (in addition to having
different request numbers) and have subtle issue, like not accessing
all of the registers in their respective categories.

This patch moves the implementation of those to a separate function
in order to facilitate their deprecation in the future, and provides
new ptrace requests that mirror the x86 and sparc ones and use the
same numbers:

   PTRACE_GETREGS    : returns an entire pt_regs (the whole thing,
                       not only the 32 GPRs, though that doesn't
                       include the FPRs etc... There's a compat version
                       for 32 bits that returns a 32 bits compatible
                       pt_regs (44 uints)

   PTRACE_SETREGS    : sets an entire pt_regs (the whole thing,
                       not only the 32 GPRs, though that doesn't
                       include the FPRs etc... Some registers cannot be
                       written to and will just be dropped, this is the
                       same as with POKEUSR, that is anything above MQ
                       on 32 bits and CCR on 64 bits. There is a compat
                       version as well.

   PTRACE_GETFPREGS  : returns all the FP registers -including- the FPSCR
                       that is 33 doubles (regardless of 32/64 bits)

   PTRACE_SETFPREGS  : sets all the FP registers -including- the FPSCR
                       that is 33 doubles (regardless of 32/64 bits)

And two that only exist on 64 bits kernels:

   PTRACE_GETREGS64  : Same as PTRACE_GETREGS, except there is no compat
                       function, a 32 bits process will obtain the full 64
                       bits registers

   PTRACE_SETREGS64  : Same as PTRACE_SETREGS, except there is no compat
                       function, a 32 bits process will set the full 64
                       bits registers

The two later ones makes things easier to have a 32 bits debugger on a
64 bits program (or on a 32 bits program that uses the full 64 bits of
the GPRs, which is possible though has issues that will be fixed in a
later patch).

Finally, while at it, the patch removes a whole bunch of code duplication
between ptrace32.c and ptrace.c, in large part by having the former call
into the later for all requests that don't need any special "compat"
treatment.

3d5134ee83 [POWERPC] Rewrite IO allocation & mapping on powerpc64
This rewrites pretty much from scratch the handling of MMIO and PIO
space allocations on powerpc64.  The main goals are:

 - Get rid of imalloc and use more common code where possible
 - Simplify the current mess so that PIO space is allocated and
   mapped in a single place for PCI bridges
 - Handle allocation constraints of PIO for all bridges including
   hot plugged ones within the 2GB space reserved for IO ports,
   so that devices on hotplugged busses will now work with drivers
   that assume IO ports fit in an int.
 - Cleanup and separate tracking of the ISA space in the reserved
   low 64K of IO space. No ISA -> Nothing mapped there.

I booted a cell blade with IDE on PIO and MMIO and a dual G5 so
far, that's it :-)

With this patch, all allocations are done using the code in
mm/vmalloc.c, though we use the low level __get_vm_area with
explicit start/stop constraints in order to manage separate
areas for vmalloc/vmap, ioremap, and PCI IOs.

This greatly simplifies a lot of things, as you can see in the
diffstat of that patch :-)

A new pair of functions pcibios_map/unmap_io_space() now replace
all of the previous code that used to manipulate PCI IOs space.
The allocation is done at mapping time, which is now called from
scan_phb's, just before the devices are probed (instead of after,
which is by itself a bug fix). The only other caller is the PCI
hotplug code for hot adding PCI-PCI bridges (slots).

imalloc is gone, as is the "sub-allocation" thing, but I do beleive
that hotplug should still work in the sense that the space allocation
is always done by the PHB, but if you unmap a child bus of this PHB
(which seems to be possible), then the code should properly tear
down all the HPTE mappings for that area of the PHB allocated IO space.

I now always reserve the first 64K of IO space for the bridge with
the ISA bus on it. I have moved the code for tracking ISA in a separate
file which should also make it smarter if we ever are capable of
hot unplugging or re-plugging an ISA bridge.

This should have a side effect on platforms like powermac where VGA IOs
will no longer work. This is done on purpose though as they would have
worked semi-randomly before. The idea at this point is to isolate drivers
that might need to access those and fix them by providing a proper
function to obtain an offset to the legacy IOs of a given bus.

6ad8d010b2 [POWERPC] Fix possible access to free pages
I think we have a subtle race on ppc64 with the tlb batching.  The
common code expects tlb_flush() to actually flush any pending TLB
batch.  It does that because it delays all page freeing until after
tlb_flush() is called, in order to ensure no stale reference to
those pages exist in any TLB, thus causing potential access to
the freed pages.

However, our tlb_flush only triggers the RCU for freeing page
table pages, it does not currently trigger a flush of a pending
TLB/hash batch, which is, I think, an error.  This fixes it.

e8edc6e03a Detach sched.h from mm.h
First thing mm.h does is including sched.h solely for can_do_mlock() inline
function which has "current" dereference inside. By dealing with can_do_mlock()
mm.h can be detached from sched.h which is good. See below, why.

This patch
a) removes unconditional inclusion of sched.h from mm.h
b) makes can_do_mlock() normal function in mm/mlock.c
c) exports can_do_mlock() to not break compilation
d) adds sched.h inclusions back to files that were getting it indirectly.
e) adds less bloated headers to some files (asm/signal.h, jiffies.h) that were
   getting them indirectly

Net result is:
a) mm.h users would get less code to open, read, preprocess, parse, ... if
   they don't need sched.h
b) sched.h stops being dependency for significant number of files:
   on x86_64 allmodconfig touching sched.h results in recompile of 4083 files,
   after patch it's only 3744 (-8.3%).

e3d67b663b [POWERPC] Remove fixup_bigphys_addr() for arch/powerpc to avoid link error
There are no actual implementations of fixup_bigphys_addr() in
arch/powerpc, and with a 64-bit aware ioremap() and so forth, it
should no longer be necessary.  This patch removes the last dregs of
fixup_bigphys_addr() from arch/powerpc.

In fact, the only reason this hasn't caused link errors already is
that nobody must have tried using one of the small number of drivers
using io_remap_pfn_range() on one of the small number of platforms
which are 32-bit but define CONFIG_PHYS_64BIT.  Nonetheless this fixes
a bug, and should go into 2.6.22.

e1fa2e136f powerpc: fixup hard_irq_disable semantics
This patch renames the raw hard_irq_{enable,disable} into
__hard_irq_{enable,disable} and introduces a higher level hard_irq_disable()
function that can be used by any code to enforce that IRQs are fully disabled,
not only lazy disabled.

The difference with the __ versions is that it will update some per-processor
fields so that the kernel keeps track and properly re-enables them in the next
local_irq_disable();

This prepares powerpc for my next patch that introduces hard_irq_disable()
generically.

2454c7e98c [POWERPC] Fix warning in hpte_decode(), and generalize it
This adds the necessary support to hpte_decode() to handle 1TB
segments and 16GB pages, and removes an uninitialized value
warning on avpn.

We don't have any code to generate HPTEs for 1TB segments or 16GB
pages yet, so this is mostly for completeness, and to fix the
warning.

4c35630ccd [POWERPC] Change rheap functions to use ulongs instead of pointers
The rheap allocation functions return a pointer, but the actual value is based
on how the heap was initialized, and so it can be anything, e.g. an offset
into a buffer.  A ulong is a better representation of the value returned by
the allocation functions.

This patch changes all of the relevant rheap functions to use a unsigned long
integers instead of a pointer.  In case of an error, the value returned is
a negative error code that has been cast to an unsigned long.  The caller can
use the IS_ERR_VALUE() macro to check for this.

All code which calls the rheap functions is updated accordingly.  Macros
IS_MURAM_ERR() and IS_DPERR(), have been deleted in favor of IS_ERR_VALUE().

Also added error checking to rh_attach_region().

2f4dfe206a Remove hardcoding of hard_smp_processor_id on UP systems
With the advent of kdump, the assumption that the boot CPU when booting an UP
kernel is always the CPU with a particular hardware ID (often 0) (usually
referred to as BSP on some architectures) is not valid anymore.  The reason
being that the dump capture kernel boots on the crashed CPU (the CPU that
invoked crash_kexec), which may be or may not be that particular CPU.

Move definition of hard_smp_processor_id for the UP case to
architecture-specific code ("asm/smp.h") where it belongs, so that each
architecture can provide its own implementation.

517e22638c [POWERPC] Don't use SLAB/SLUB for PTE pages
The SLUB allocator relies on struct page fields first_page and slab,
overwritten by ptl when SPLIT_PTLOCK: so the SLUB allocator cannot then
be used for the lowest level of pagetable pages.  This was obstructing
SLUB on PowerPC, which uses kmem_caches for its pagetables.  So convert
its pte level to use normal gfp pages (whereas pmd, pud and 64k-page pgd
want partpages, so continue to use kmem_caches for pmd, pud and pgd).

f1fa74f4af [POWERPC] Spufs support for 64K LS mappings on 4K kernels
This adds an option to spufs when the kernel is configured for
4K page to give it the ability to use 64K pages for SPE local store
mappings.

Currently, we are optimistic and try order 4 allocations when creating
contexts. If that fails, the code will fallback to 4K automatically.

d0f13e3c20 [POWERPC] Introduce address space "slices"
The basic issue is to be able to do what hugetlbfs does but with
different page sizes for some other special filesystems; more
specifically, my need is:

 - Huge pages

 - SPE local store mappings using 64K pages on a 4K base page size
kernel on Cell

 - Some special 4K segments in 64K-page kernels for mapping a dodgy
type of powerpc-specific infiniband hardware that requires 4K MMU
mappings for various reasons I won't explain here.

The main issues are:

 - To maintain/keep track of the page size per "segment" (as we can
only have one page size per segment on powerpc, which are 256MB
divisions of the address space).

 - To make sure special mappings stay within their allotted
"segments" (including MAP_FIXED crap)

 - To make sure everybody else doesn't mmap/brk/grow_stack into a
"segment" that is used for a special mapping

Some of the necessary mechanisms to handle that were present in the
hugetlbfs code, but mostly in ways not suitable for anything else.

The patch relies on some changes to the generic get_unmapped_area()
that just got merged.  It still hijacks hugetlb callbacks here or
there as the generic code hasn't been entirely cleaned up yet but
that shouldn't be a problem.

So what is a slice ?  Well, I re-used the mechanism used formerly by our
hugetlbfs implementation which divides the address space in
"meta-segments" which I called "slices".  The division is done using
256MB slices below 4G, and 1T slices above.  Thus the address space is
divided currently into 16 "low" slices and 16 "high" slices.  (Special
case: high slice 0 is the area between 4G and 1T).

Doing so simplifies significantly the tracking of segments and avoids
having to keep track of all the 256MB segments in the address space.

While I used the "concepts" of hugetlbfs, I mostly re-implemented
everything in a more generic way and "ported" hugetlbfs to it.

Slices can have an associated page size, which is encoded in the mmu
context and used by the SLB miss handler to set the segment sizes.  The
hash code currently doesn't care, it has a specific check for hugepages,
though I might add a mechanism to provide per-slice hash mapping
functions in the future.

The slice code provide a pair of "generic" get_unmapped_area() (bottomup
and topdown) functions that should work with any slice size.  There is
some trickiness here so I would appreciate people to have a look at the
implementation of these and let me know if I got something wrong.

I agree (with Andi Kleen) this typeof is not needed and more error
prone. All the original atomic.h code that uses cmpxchg (which includes
the atomic_add_unless) uses defines instead of inline functions,
probably to circumvent a circular dependency between system.h and
atomic.h on powerpc (which my patch addresses). Therefore, it makes
sense to use inline functions that will provide type checking.

atomic_add_unless as inline. Remove system.h atomic.h circular dependency.
Digging into the FRV architecture shows me that it is also affected by
such a circular dependency. Here is the diff applying this against the
rest of my atomic.h patches.

It applies over the atomic.h standardization patches.

6672f76a5a kdump/kexec: calculate note size at compile time
Currently the size of the per-cpu region reserved to save crash notes is
set by the per-architecture value MAX_NOTE_BYTES.  Which in turn is
currently set to 1024 on all supported architectures.

While testing ia64 I recently discovered that this value is in fact too
small.  The particular setup I was using actually needs 1172 bytes.  This
lead to very tedious failure mode where the tail of one elf note would
overwrite the head of another if they ended up being alocated sequentially
by kmalloc, which was often the case.

It seems to me that a far better approach is to caclculate the size that
the area needs to be.  This patch does just that.

If a simpler stop-gap patch for ia64 to be squeezed into 2.6.21(.X) is
needed then this should be as easy as making MAX_NOTE_BYTES larger in
arch/asm-ia64/kexec.h.  Perhaps 2048 would be a good choice.  However, I
think that the approach in this patch is a much more robust idea.

c15a3837d2 parport->dev driver model support
Currently a parport_driver can't get a handle on the device node for the
underlying parport (PNPACPI, PCI, etc).  That prevents correct placement of
sysfs child nodes, which can affect things like power management.

This patch adds a field to "struct parport" pointing to that device node, and
updates non-legacy port drivers to initialize that device pointer.  That field
replaces the analagous PCI-only support in parport_pc.

1eeb66a1bb move die notifier handling to common code
This patch moves the die notifier handling to common code.  Previous
various architectures had exactly the same code for it.  Note that the new
code is compiled unconditionally, this should be understood as an appel to
the other architecture maintainer to implement support for it aswell (aka
sprinkling a notify_die or two in the proper place)

arm had a notifiy_die that did something totally different, I renamed it to
arm_notify_die as part of the patch and made it static to the file it's
declared and used at.  avr32 used to pass slightly less information through
this interface and I brought it into line with the other architectures.

df87ef5508 [POWERPC] PowerPC MSI infrastructure
This provides the architecture specific hooks to support MSI on
powerpc.  We implement the newly added arch_setup_msi_irqs() and
arch_teardown_msi_irqs(), and then delegate to ppc_md routines.

Platforms that don't implement MSI will leave the ppc_md calls blank,
arch_msi_check_device() will detect this and return ENOSYS. Drivers
should detect this error and continue to use LSI.

d1953c8888 [POWERPC] Remove use of 4level-fixup.h for ppc32
For 32-bit systems, powerpc still relies on the 4level-fixup.h hack,
to pretend that the generic pagetable handling stuff is 3-levels
rather than 4.  This patch removes this, instead using the newer
pgtable-nopmd.h to handle the elision of both the pud and pmd
pagetable levels (ppc32 pagetables are actually 2 levels).

This removes a little extraneous code, and makes it more easily
compared to the 64-bit pagetable code.

c1b78d05b3 [POWERPC] Generalize tsi108 PHY types
Add a phy_type field to the tsi108 ethernet structures to indicate which PHY
is used on a board.  This is derived from the "compatible" property in the
ethernet-phy node of the device tree.  The default remains the MV88E PHY.

Also, convert the setup code to use of_get_mac_address instead of hard coding
a lookup for the "address" property in the ethernet node.

Implement deep-sleep on MPC52xx.
SDRAM is put into self-refresh with help of SRAM code
(alternatives would be code in FLASH, I-cache).
Interrupt code must also not be in SDRAM, so put it
in I-cache.
MPC52xx core is static, so contents will remain intact even
with clocks turned off.

32-bit powerpc uses a PTE_FMT macro to handle printk() formatting of
PTE entries (which can vary in type and size).  Apparently there was a
good reason for it once, but with current compilers it's simpler just
to workaround the variation with a cast in the printk() itself
(there's only one use).

d9333afd6a [POWERPC] powermac: Support G5 CPU hotplug
This allows "hotplugging" of CPUs on G5 machines.  CPUs that are
disabled are put into an idle loop with the decrementer frequency set
to minimum.  To wake them up again we kick them just like when bringing
them up.  To stop those CPUs from messing with any global state we stop
them from entering the timer interrupt.

d6dd61c831 [PATCH] x86: PARAVIRT: add hooks to intercept mm creation and destruction
Add hooks to allow a paravirt implementation to track the lifetime of
an mm.  Paravirtualization requires three hooks, but only two are
needed in common code.  They are:

arch_dup_mmap, which is called when a new mmap is created at fork

arch_exit_mmap, which is called when the last process reference to an
  mm is dropped, which typically happens on exit and exec.

The third hook is activate_mm, which is called from the arch-specific
activate_mm() macro/function, and so doesn't need stub versions for
other architectures.  It's called when an mm is first used.

When data symbols are not present in kernel image, user needs to add
dot(".") before function name explicitly, that he wants to probe in kprobe
module on ppc64.

be9c94dd77 [POWERPC] Fix suspend states again
In commit 0fba3a1f39 (a very long time ago,
May 2006), I fixed a bug that caused powermacs to crash when you tried
entering standby/mem suspend states.

As I'm now getting more familiar with the suspend code I notice a few
more things:
 1. we previously misunderstood what pm_ops is for, it isn't supposed to be
    for doing platform dependent suspend/resume stuff that needs to be done
    for suspend to disk (as we currently try to use it!), it is instead for
    entering platform dependent suspend states ("standby", "mem").
 2. due to the first point, we never properly save FPU and altivec states
    when suspending to disk. It probably hasn't hurt yet because the process
    that writes the "disk" to /sys/power/state uses neither and its context
    is used.

This patch addresses these points as follows:
 1. remove all pm_ops from powermac, powermac suspend to ram isn't currently
    usable via /sys/power/state but is done via the PMU instead.
 2. move the code responsible for storing FPU/altivec state into
    save_processor_state and the set_context() call to restore_processor_state.
 3. add a call to kernel_enable_spe()

It may look like there is some code removal missing but that is
actually because the new suspend.h file overrides the ppc/suspend.h
one which was previously used.

f88df14b1f [POWERPC] Remove arch/powerpc's dependence on asm-ppc/pg{alloc,table}.h
Currently, all 32-bit powerpc platforms use asm-ppc/pgtable.h and
asm-ppc/pgalloc.h, even when otherwise compiled with ARCH=powerpc.
Those asm-ppc files are a fairly nasty tangle of #ifdefs including a
bunch of things which shouldn't be necessary any more in arch/powerpc.

Cleaning up that mess is going to take a while, but this patch is a
first step.  It separates the asm-powerpc/pg{alloc,table}.h into 64
bit and 32 bit versions in asm-powerpc, which the basic .h files in
asm-powerpc select based on config.  We make a few tiny tweaks to the
innards of the files along the way, making the outermost ifdefs
(double-inclusion protection and __KERNEL__) a little cleaner, and
#including asm-generic/pgtable.h from the top-level
asm-powerpc/pgtable.h (since both the old 32-bit and 64-bit versions
ended with such an #include).

Since we don't have it active by default, the STRICT_MM_TYPECHECKS
option has bitrotted again.  This patch fixes a couple of simple build
fixes if the option is selected.  First, pud_t mustn't be defined in
page.h on 32-bit systems, because it conflicts with the version in the
generic pud-folding code.  Second, pci_32.c is missing a __pgprot()
wrapper call.  Third, a couple of PS3 files use constants of type
pgprot_t when they need the raw values, we add pgprot_val() calls to
fix this.

This patch takes the definitions for the PPC44x MMU (a software loaded
TLB) from asm-ppc/mmu.h, cleans them up of things no longer necessary
in arch/powerpc and puts them in a new asm-powerpc/mmu_44x.h file.  It
also substantially simplifies arch/powerpc/mm/44x_mmu.c and makes a
couple of small fixes necessary for the 44x MMU code to build and work
properly in arch/powerpc.

check_legacy_ioport makes only sense on PREP, CHRP and pSeries.
They may have an isa node with PS/2, parport, floppy and serial ports.

Remove the check_legacy_ioport call from ppc_md, it's not needed
anymore.  Hardware capabilities come from the device-tree.

8d2169e8d6 [POWERPC] Prepare for splitting up mmu.h by MMU type
Currently asm-powerpc/mmu.h has definitions for the 64-bit hash based
MMU.  If CONFIG_PPC64 is not set, it instead includes asm-ppc/mmu.h
which contains a particularly horrible mess of #ifdefs giving the
definitions for all the various 32-bit MMUs.

It would be nice to have the low level definitions for each MMU type
neatly in their own separate files.  It would also be good to wean
arch/powerpc off dependence on the old asm-ppc/mmu.h.

This patch makes a start on such a cleanup by moving the definitions
for the 64-bit hash MMU to their own file, asm-powerpc/mmu_hash64.h.
Definitions for the other MMUs still all come from asm-ppc/mmu.h,
however each MMU type can now be one-by-one moved over to their own
file, in the process cleaning them up stripping them of cruft no
longer necessary in arch/powerpc.

Now that network timestamps use ktime_t infrastructure, we can add a new
SOL_SOCKET sockopt  SO_TIMESTAMPNS.

This command is similar to SO_TIMESTAMP, but permits transmission of
a 'timespec struct' instead of a 'timeval struct' control message.
(nanosecond resolution instead of microsecond)

Control message is labelled SCM_TIMESTAMPNS instead of SCM_TIMESTAMP

A socket cannot mix SO_TIMESTAMP and SO_TIMESTAMPNS : the two modes are
mutually exclusive.

sock_recv_timestamp() became too big to be fully inlined so I added a
__sock_recv_timestamp() helper function.

6210230725 [POWERPC] Cleanup and fix breakage in tlbflush.h
BenH's commit a741e67969 in powerpc.git,
although (AFAICT) only intended to affect ppc64, also has side-effects
which break 44x.  I think 40x, 8xx and Freescale Book E are also
affected, though I haven't tested them.

The problem lies in unconditionally removing flush_tlb_pending() from
the versions of flush_tlb_mm(), flush_tlb_range() and
flush_tlb_kernel_range() used on ppc64 - which are also used the
embedded platforms mentioned above.

The patch below cleans up the convoluted #ifdef logic in tlbflush.h,
in the process restoring the necessary flushes for the software TLB
platforms.  There are three sets of definitions for the flushing
hooks: the software TLB versions (revised to avoid using names which
appear to related to TLB batching), the 32-bit hash based versions
(external functions) amd the 64-bit hash based versions (which
implement batching).

It also moves the declaration of update_mmu_cache() to always be in
tlbflush.h (previously it was in tlbflush.h except for PPC64, where it
was in pgtable.h).

Booted on Ebony (440GP) and compiled for 64-bit and 32-bit
multiplatform.

This patch adds a driver to arch/powerpc/sysdev for the UIC, the
on-chip interrupt controller from IBM/AMCC 4xx chips.  It uses the new
irq host mapping infrastructure.

a14c4508f4 [POWERPC] Fix PowerPC 750CL and 750GX CPU features
PowerPC 750CL has high BATs.  The patch below adds a CPU_FTRS_750CL that
includes that.  Without it, the original firmware mappings in the high BATs
aren't cleared which continue to override the linux translations.

It also adds CPU_FTR_COMMON to CPU_FTRS_750GX for completeness.

57dace2391 [POWERPC] spufs: make spu page faults not block scheduling
Until now, we have always entered the spu page fault handler
with a mutex for the spu context held. This has multiple
bad side-effects:
- it becomes impossible to suspend the context during
  page faults
- if an spu program attempts to access its own mmio
  areas through DMA, we get an immediate livelock when
  the nopage function tries to acquire the same mutex

This patch makes the page fault logic operate on a
struct spu_context instead of a struct spu, and moves it
from spu_base.c to a new file fault.c inside of spufs.

We now also need to copy the dar and dsisr contents
of the last fault into the saved context to have it
accessible in case we schedule out the context before
activating the page fault handler.

a741e67969 [POWERPC] Make tlb flush batch use lazy MMU mode
The current tlb flush code on powerpc 64 bits has a subtle race since we
lost the page table lock due to the possible faulting in of new PTEs
after a previous one has been removed but before the corresponding hash
entry has been evicted, which can leads to all sort of fatal problems.

This patch reworks the batch code completely. It doesn't use the mmu_gather
stuff anymore. Instead, we use the lazy mmu hooks that were added by the
paravirt code. They have the nice property that the enter/leave lazy mmu
mode pair is always fully contained by the PTE lock for a given range
of PTEs. Thus we can guarantee that all batches are flushed on a given
CPU before it drops that lock.

We also generalize batching for any PTE update that require a flush.

Batching is now enabled on a CPU by arch_enter_lazy_mmu_mode() and
disabled by arch_leave_lazy_mmu_mode(). The code epects that this is
always contained within a PTE lock section so no preemption can happen
and no PTE insertion in that range from another CPU. When batching
is enabled on a CPU, every PTE updates that need a hash flush will
use the batch for that flush.

721151d004 [POWERPC] Allow drivers to map individual 4k pages to userspace
Some drivers have resources that they want to be able to map into
userspace that are 4k in size.  On a kernel configured with 64k pages
we currently end up mapping the 4k we want plus another 60k of
physical address space, which could contain anything.  This can
introduce security problems, for example in the case of an infiniband
adaptor where the other 60k could contain registers that some other
program is using for its communications.

This patch adds a new function, remap_4k_pfn, which drivers can use to
map a single 4k page to userspace regardless of whether the kernel is
using a 4k or a 64k page size.  Like remap_pfn_range, it would
typically be called in a driver's mmap function.  It only maps a
single 4k page, which on a 64k page kernel appears replicated 16 times
throughout a 64k page.  On a 4k page kernel it reduces to a call to
remap_pfn_range.

The way this works on a 64k kernel is that a new bit, _PAGE_4K_PFN,
gets set on the linux PTE.  This alters the way that __hash_page_4K
computes the real address to put in the HPTE.  The RPN field of the
linux PTE becomes the 4k RPN directly rather than being interpreted as
a 64k RPN.  Since the RPN field is 32 bits, this means that physical
addresses being mapped with remap_4k_pfn have to be below 2^44,
i.e. 0x100000000000.

The patch also factors out the code in arch/powerpc/mm/hash_utils_64.c
that deals with demoting a process to use 4k pages into one function
that gets called in the various different places where we need to do
that.  There were some discrepancies between exactly what was done in
the various places, such as a call to spu_flush_all_slbs in one case
but not in others.

b4aea36b79 [POWERPC] Avoid hypervisor statistics calculation in real mode
kexec invokes plpar_hcall hypervisor call in real mode.  plpar_hcall
refers to per cpu variables for accounting hypervisor statistics.
These variables may not be in the RMO region, so accesses to them
in real mode may result in a data storage exception.

This fixes this problem by using a new plpar_hcall_raw function which
does not update the hypervisor call statistics.  Thanks to Anton for
suggesting this idea.

0e0293c898 [POWERPC] Update documentation for flat device tree format v17
This patch updates booting-without-of.txt to describe version 17 of
the flattened device tree format.  Version 17 is a small, backwards
compatible change from version 16, adding an extra field giving the
size of the device tree's structure block.  At this time, the kernel
has no use for the extra information, however its presence can make
life easier for bootloaders or other software manipulating the tree.

In addition this patch adds information on the size_dt_strings field
of the device tree header, present since version 3 of the flattened
tree format, but omitted from the documentation.  It also makes
changes to consistently refer to versions 16 and 17 as versions 16 and
17 in decimal, rather than version 0x10 which was occasionally used
for version 16 previously.

Finally, we also add the new field to the definition of the device
tree header structure in prom.h

6bccf755ff [POWERPC] ibmebus: dynamic addition/removal of adapters, some code cleanup
This adds two sysfs attributes to /sys/bus/ibmebus which can be used to
notify the ebus driver of added / removed ebus devices in the OF device
tree.

Echoing the device's location code (as found in the OFDT "ibm,loc-code"
property) into the "probe" attribute will notify ebus of addition of the
device and cause the appropriate device driver's probe function to be called
on the device.

Likewise, echoing the location code into the "remove" attribute will cause
the device to be removed from the system.

The writes will block until the respective operation has finished and return
an error code if the operation failed.

In addition, two minor tidbits are fixed:

- The fake root device used to provide a common parent for all ebus devices
  is now based on device instead of of_device - it had no associated devtree
  node. This saves several checks throughout the ebus driver.

- The sysfs attributes are now generated automagically by device_register()
  instead of by the ibmebus code, which saves a few compiler warnings about
  unused return codes.

94b2a4393c [POWERPC] Fix spu SLB invalidations
The SPU code doesn't properly invalidate SPUs SLBs when necessary,
for example when changing a segment size from the hugetlbfs code. In
addition, it saves and restores the SLB content on context switches
which makes it harder to properly handle those invalidations.

This patch removes the saving & restoring for now, something more
efficient might be found later on. It also adds a spu_flush_all_slbs(mm)
that can be used by the core mm code to flush the SLBs of all SPEs that
are running a given mm at the time of the flush.

In order to do that, it adds a spinlock to the list of all SPEs and move
some bits & pieces from spufs to spu_base.c

Remove the SMT-nice feature which idles sibling cpus on SMT cpus to
facilitiate nice working properly where cpu power is shared.  The idling of
cpus in the presence of runnable tasks is considered too fragile, easy to
break with outside code, and the complexity of managing this system if an
architecture comes along with many logical cores sharing cpu power will be
unworkable.

Remove the associated per_cpu_gain variable in sched_domains used only by
this code.

Also:

  The reason is that with dynticks enabled, this code breaks without yet
  further tweaks so dynticks brought on the rapid demise of this code.  So
  either we tweak this code or kill it off entirely.  It was Ingo's preference
  to kill it off.  Either way this needs to happen for 2.6.21 since dynticks
  has gone in.

Refactored and cleaned up ucc_fast.c and ucc_slow.c so that the two files
look more alike and are easier to read.  Removed uccf_printk() and related

29cfe6f4fb [POWERPC] add of_get_mac_address and update fsl_soc.c to use it
Add function of_get_mac_address(), which obtains the best MAC address to use
from the device tree by checking various properties in order.  The order is:
'mac-address', then 'local-mac-address', then 'address'.  It skips properties
that contain invalid MAC addresses, which were probably not initialized
by U-Boot.

Update gfar_of_init() and fs_enet_of_init() in fsl_soc.c to call
of_get_mac_address().

Getting BenH's new EMAC driver working on 440GP, I found some more
problems in the native mode paths of the new DCR code:
	- dcr_map() is supposed to return a dcr_host_t, but the native
version is a macro that doesn't expand to an expression.  With native
DCRs, dcr_host_t is an empty structure, so we just use a constructor
expression instead.
	- dcr_unmap() uses {} instead of the safer do {} while (0)
idiom to implement a no-op

Here's a fix.

719c91ccad [POWERPC] Use udbg_early_init() on ppc32
udbg_early_init() is a function used on 64 bit systems, which
initializes whichever early udbg backend is configured.  This function
is not called on 32-bit, however if btext early debug is enabled it
does have an explicit, inline, #ifdef-ed assignment performing
analagous initialization.

This patch makes things more uniform by folding the btext
initialization as an option into udbg_early_init() and calling that
from the 32-bit setup path.

7ac9a13717 [POWERPC] Fix vDSO page count calculation
The recent vDSO consolidation patches broke powerpc due to a mistake
in the definition of MAXPAGES constants. This fixes it by moving to
a dynamically allocated array of pages instead as I don't like much
hard coded size limits. Also move the vdso initialisation to an initcall
since it doesn't really need to be done -that- early.

Applogies for not catching the breakage earlier, Roland _did_ CC me on
his patches a while ago, I got busy with other things and forgot to test
them.

9ea8b7c96f [POWERPC] Virtual DMA support for floppy driver for new powerpc architecture
During ppc64+ppc merge virtual DMA code for floppy driver was not
ported.  This patch restores virtual DMA support for floppy in new
powerpc target.

It is necessary at least on Pegasos and AmigaOne machines for the
floppy drive to function.  ISA DMA controller works incorrectly there
due to its addressing limitations.

Virtual DMA mode is activated by floppy=nodma option passed to the
kernel (or module).  There's no automatic switch like on i386.

As the actual graphics hardware cannot be accessed directly by Linux, ps3fb
uses a virtual frame buffer in main memory.  The actual screen image is copied

Preallocate bootmem memory for the PS3 frame buffer device, which needs a
large block of physically-contiguous memory. The size of this memory block is
configurable:
  - The config option CONFIG_FB_PS3_DEFAULT_SIZE_M allows to specify the
    default amount of memory (in MiB) allocated to the virtual frame buffer.
  - The early boot parameter `ps3fb=xxx' allows to override the default value.
    It will be rounded up to a multiple of 1 MiB, if needed.

4564f9e5fd [PATCH] consolidate line discipline number definitions
The line discipline numbers N_* are currently defined for each architecture
individually, but (except for a seeming mistake) identically, in
asm/termios.h.  There is no obvious reason why these numbers should be
architecture specific, nor any apparent relationship with the termios
structure.  The total number of these, NR_LDISCS, is defined in linux/tty.h
anyway.  So I propose the following patch which moves the definitions of
the individual line disciplines to linux/tty.h too.

Three of these numbers (N_MASC, N_PROFIBUS_FDL, and N_SMSBLOCK) are unused
in the current kernel, but the patch still keeps the complete set in case
there are plans to use them yet.

Recent update of asm-powerpc/io.h caused cpm-related stuff to break in the
current kernel. Current patch fixes it, as well as other inconsistencies
expressed, that do not permit targets from working properly:

- Updated dts with a chosen node with interrupt controller,
- fixed messed device IDs among CPM2 SoC devices,
- corrected odd header name and fixed type in defines,
- Added 82xx subdir to the powerpc/platforms Makefile, missed during
  initial commit,
- new solely-powerpc header file for 8260 family (was using one from
  arch/ppc, this one cleaned up from the extra stuff), in fact for now
  a placeholder to get the board-specific includes for stuff not yet
  capable to live with devicetree peeks only
- Fixed couple of misprints in reference mpc8272 dts.

This contains important fixes for the CPM2 PIC code. Eliminated
CPM_IRQ_OFFSET, pulling the respective interrupt numbers from the interrupt
mapping. Updated devicetree files to reflect that. Changed direct
IC-related IO accesses to the IO accessors. Fixed all the sense values to
keep coherency with ipic. In the current code, CPM2 stuff will have no IRQs
and hence could be hardly usable.

Allow more than the default 256 MPIC sources. Allocates a new flag
(MPIC_LARGE_VECTORS) to be used by platform code when instantiating

8cdf92a98f Fix Maple PATA IRQ assignment.
On the Maple board, the AMD8111 IDE is in legacy mode... except that it
appears on IRQ 20 instead of IRQ 15. For drivers/ide this was handled by
the architecture's "pci_get_legacy_ide_irq()" function, but in libata we
just hard-code the numbers 14 and 15.

This patch provides asm-powerpc/libata-portmap.h which maps the IRQ as
appropriate, having added a pci_dev argument to the
ATA_{PRIM,SECOND}ARY_IRQ macros.

There's probably a better way to do this -- especially if we observe
that the _only_ case in which this seemingly-generic
"pci_get_legacy_ide_irq()" function returns anything other than 14 and
15 for primary and secondary respectively is the case of the AMD8111 on
the Maple board -- couldn't we handle that with a special case in the
pata_amd driver, or perhaps with a PCI quirk for Maple to switch it into
native mode during early boot and assign resources properly?

It's useful to have access to struct ipic handle that just got created
in ipic_init().

For example, if we want to setup an external IRQ with out
a device node we need access ipic->irqhost to create the virtual to HW
IRQ mapping and to set the IRQ sense.  With this we can mimic the old
sense array concept that existed in arch/ppc.

I often test new versions of glibc by doing:

434f98c48f [POWERPC] atomic_dec_if_positive sign extension fix
On 64-bit machines, if an atomic counter is explicitly set to a
negative value, the atomic_dec_if_positive function will decrement and
store the next smallest value in the atomic counter, contrary to its
intended operation.

The comparison to determine if the decrement will make the result
negative was done by the "addic." instruction, which operates on a
64-bit value, namely the zero-extended word loaded from the atomic
variable.  This patch uses an explicit word compare (cmpwi) and
changes the addic. to an addi (also changing "=&r" to "=&b" so that r0
isn't used, and addi doesn't become li).

This also fixes a bug for both 32-bit and 64-bit in that previously
0x80000000 was considered positive, since the result after
decrementing is positive.  Now it is considered negative.

Also, I clarify the return value in the comments just to make it clear
that the value returned is always the decremented value, even if that
value is not stored back to the atomic counter.

dc40127ca5 [POWERPC] Fix bugs in the hypervisor call stats code
There were a few issues with the HCALL_STATS code:

- PURR cpu feature checks were backwards
- We iterated one entry off the end of the hcall_stats array
- Remove dead update_hcall_stats() function prototype

I noticed one thing while debugging, and that is we call H_ENTER (to set
up the MMU hashtable in early init) before we have done the cpu fixups.
This means we will execute the PURR SPR reads even on a CPU that isnt
capable of it. I wonder if we can move the CPU feature fixups earlier.

5c334eed6e [POWERPC] 52xx: Don't use device_initcall to probe of_platform_bus
Using device_initcall makes it happen for every platform that
compiles this file in. This is really bad, for obvious reasons.

Instead, we use the .init field of the machine description. If
the platform needs the hook to do something specific it can provides
its own function and call mpc52xx_declare_of_platform_devices from
there. If not, the mpc52xx_declare_of_platform_devices function can
directly be used as the init hook.

007d88d042 [POWERPC] Fix manual assembly WARN_ON() in enter_rtas().
When we switched over to the generic BUG mechanism we forgot to change
the assembly code which open-codes a WARN_ON() in enter_rtas(), so the
bug table got corrupted.

This patch provides an EMIT_BUG_ENTRY macro for use in assembly code,
and uses it in entry_64.S. Tested with CONFIG_DEBUG_BUGVERBOSE on ppc64
but not without -- I tried to turn it off but it wouldn't go away; I
suspect Aunt Tillie probably needed it.

This version gets __FILE__ and __LINE__ right in the assembly version --
rather than saying include/asm-powerpc/bug.h line 21 every time which is
a little suboptimal.

8a102eed9c [PATCH] PM: Fix SMP races in the freezer
Currently, to tell a task that it should go to the refrigerator, we set the
PF_FREEZE flag for it and send a fake signal to it.  Unfortunately there
are two SMP-related problems with this approach.  First, a task running on
another CPU may be updating its flags while the freezer attempts to set
PF_FREEZE for it and this may leave the task's flags in an inconsistent
state.  Second, there is a potential race between freeze_process() and
refrigerator() in which freeze_process() running on one CPU is reading a
task's PF_FREEZE flag while refrigerator() running on another CPU has just
set PF_FROZEN for the same task and attempts to reset PF_FREEZE for it.  If
the refrigerator wins the race, freeze_process() will state that PF_FREEZE
hasn't been set for the task and will set it unnecessarily, so the task
will go to the refrigerator once again after it's been thawed.

To solve first of these problems we need to stop using PF_FREEZE to tell
tasks that they should go to the refrigerator.  Instead, we can introduce a
special TIF_*** flag and use it for this purpose, since it is allowed to
change the other tasks' TIF_*** flags and there are special calls for it.

To avoid the freeze_process()-refrigerator() race we can make
freeze_process() to always check the task's PF_FROZEN flag after it's read
its "freeze" flag.  We should also make sure that refrigerator() will
always reset the task's "freeze" flag after it's set PF_FROZEN for it.

73c9ceab40 [POWERPC] Generic BUG for powerpc
This makes powerpc use the generic BUG machinery.  The biggest reports the
function name, since it is redundant with kallsyms, and not needed in general.

There is an overall reduction of code, since module_32/64 duplicated several
functions.

Unfortunately there's no way to tell gcc that BUG won't return, so the BUG
macro includes a goto loop.  This will generate a real jmp instruction, which
is never used.

This is the grungy swap all the occurrences in the right places patch that
goes with the updates.  At this point we have the same functionality as
before (except that sgttyb() returns speeds not zero) and are ready to
begin turning new stuff on providing nobody reports lots of bugs

If you are a tty driver author converting an out of tree driver the only
impact should be termios->ktermios name changes for the speed/property
setting functions from your upper layers.

If you are implementing your own TCGETS function before then your driver
was broken already and its about to get a whole lot more painful for you so
please fix it 8)

Also fill in c_ispeed/ospeed on init for most devices, although the current
code will do this for you anyway but I'd like eventually to lose that extra
paranoia

be90038a24 [PATCH] tty: preparatory structures for termios revamp
In order to sort out our struct termios and add proper speed control we need
to separate the kernel and user termios structures.  Glibc is fine but the
other libraries rely on the kernel exported struct termios and we need to
extend this without breaking the ABI/API

To do so we add a struct ktermios which is the kernel view of a termios
structure and overlaps the struct termios with extra fields on the end for
now.  (That limitation will go away in later patches).  Some platforms (eg
alpha) planned ahead and thus use the same struct for both, others did not.

This just adds the structures but does not use them, it seems a sensible
splitting point for bisect if there are compile failures (not that I expect
them)

aa42c69c67 [POWERPC] Add support for FP emulation for the e300c2 core
The e300c2 has no FPU.  Its MSR[FP] is grounded to zero.  If an attempt
is made to execute a floating point instruction (including floating-point
load, store, or move instructions), the e300c2 takes a floating-point
unavailable interrupt.

This patch adds support for FP emulation on the e300c2 by declaring a
new CPU_FTR_FP_TAKES_FPUNAVAIL, where FP unavail interrupts are
intercepted and redirected to the ProgramCheck exception path for
correct emulation handling.

(If we run out of CPU_FTR bits we could look to reclaim this bit by adding
support to test the cpu_user_features for PPC_FEATURE_HAS_FPU instead)

It adds a nop to the exception path for 32-bit processors with a FPU.

396a1a5832 [POWERPC] Fix mmap of PCI resource with hack for X
The powerpc version of pci_resource_to_user() and associated hooks
used by /proc/bus/pci and /sys/bus/pci mmap have been broken for some
time on machines that don't have a 1:1 mapping of devices (basically
on non-PowerMacs) and have PCI devices above 32 bits.

This attempts to fix it as well as possible.

The rule is supposed to be that pci_resource_to_user() always converts
the resources back into a BAR values since that's what the /proc
interface was supposed to deal with. However, for X to work on
platforms where PCI MMIO is not mapped 1:1, it became a habit of
platforms like powerpc to pass "fixed up" values there since X expects
to be able to use values from /proc/bus/pci/devices as offsets to mmap
of /dev/mem...

So we keep that contraption here, causing also /sys/*/resource to
expose fully absolute MMIO addresses instead of BAR values, which is
ugly, but should still work as long as those are only used to calculate
alignment within a page.

X is still broken when built 32 bits on machines where PCI MMIO can be
above 32-bit space unfortunately.

Add a rtas_service_present method, which provides a more conventional
boolean interface for testing the existence of an RTAS method.

1d4454e7ce [POWERPC] Define pci_unmap_addr() et al. when CONFIG_NOT_COHERENT_CACHE=y
The current PowerPC code makes pci_unmap_addr(), pci_unmap_addr_set(),
and friends trivial for all 32-bit kernels.  This is reasonable, since
for those kernels it is true that pci_unmap_single() does not need the
DMA address from the original DMA mapping -- in fact, it is a NOP.

However, I recently tried the tg3 driver on a PowerPC 440SPe machine,
which runs a 32-bit kernel and has non-cache-coherent PCI DMA.  I
found that the tg3 driver crashed in pci_dma_sync_single_for_cpu(),
since for non-coherent systems, that function must invalidate the
cache for the DMA address range requested, and therefore it does use
the address passed in.  tg3 uses a DMA address it stashes away with
pci_unmap_addr_set() and retrieves with pci_unmap_addr().  Of course,
since pci_unmap_addr() is defined to (0) right now, this doesn't work.

It seems to me that the tg3 driver is using pci_unmap_addr() in a
legitimate way -- I wouldn't want to have to teach all drivers that
they should use pci_unmap_addr() if they only need the address for
unmapping functions, but if they want the pci_dma_sync functions, then
they have to store the DMA address without the helper macros.
The right fix therefore seems to be in the definition of the macros in
<asm/pci.h> -- we should use the trivial versions only for 32-bit
kernels for coherent systems, and the real versions for both 64-bit
kernels and non-coherent systems.

being callable, so there should be no change in behaviour.

Introduce pagefault_{disable,enable}() and use these where previously we did
manual preempt increments/decrements to make the pagefault handler do the
atomic thing.

Currently they still rely on the increased preempt count, but do not rely on
the disabled preemption, this might go away in the future.

(NOTE: the extra barrier() in pagefault_disable might fix some holes on
       machines which have too many registers for their own good)

e62438630c [PATCH] Centralise definitions of sector_t and blkcnt_t
CONFIG_LBD and CONFIG_LSF are spread into asm/types.h for no particularly
good reason.

Centralising the definition in linux/types.h means that arch maintainers
don't need to bother adding it, as well as fixing the problem with
x86-64 users being asked to make a decision that has absolutely no
effect.

The H8/300 porters seem particularly confused since I'm not aware of any
microcontrollers that need to support 2TB filesystems.

143db67af0 [POWERPC] Provide dummy hard_irq_enable/disable() for PPC32
To allow arch/powerpc/kernel/crash.c to build on 32-bit we need a
definition of hard_irq_disable(). 32-bit doesn't support the lazy
interrupt disabling mechanism, so on 32-bit hard_irq_disable() is
simply local_irq_disable(). Add a definition for hard_irq_enable()
just for completeness.

This allows (KEXEC=y && PPC32=y) to build again. Broken since
d04c56f73c.

4cfbdfff70 [POWERPC] include/asm-powerpc/: "extern inline" -> "static inline"
"extern inline" generates a warning with -Wmissing-prototypes and I'm
currently working on getting the kernel cleaned up for adding this to
the CFLAGS since it will help us to avoid a nasty class of runtime
errors.

If there are places that really need a forced inline, __always_inline
would be the correct solution.
