63c0941726 libfdt: replace ARCH_FIXUP_FDT with ARCH_FIXUP_FDT_MEMORY
Commit e2f88dfd2d ("libfdt: Introduce new ARCH_FIXUP_FDT option")
allows us to skip memory setup of DTB, but a problem for ARM is that
spin_table_update_dt() and psci_update_dt() are skipped as well if
CONFIG_ARCH_FIXUP_FDT is disabled.

This commit allows us to skip only fdt_fixup_memory_banks() instead
of the whole of arch_fixup_fdt().  It will be useful when we want to
use a memory node from a kernel DTB as is, but need some fixups for
Spin-Table/PSCI.

4491327d59 Remove arch/${ARCH}/include/asm/errno.h
Unlike Linux, nothing about errno.h is arch-specific in U-Boot.
As you see, all of arch/${ARCH}/include/asm/errno.h is just a
wrapper of <asm-generic/errno.h>.  Actually, U-Boot does not
export headers to user-space, so we just have to care about the
consistency in the U-Boot tree.

Now all of include directives for <asm/errno.h> are gone.
Deprecate <asm/errno.h>.

65fcba1251 arc: Rename AXS101 board to more generic AXS10x
As of now we have 2 flavors of ARC SDP boards:
 1) AXS101 - with ARC770 in ASIC
 2) AXS103 - with ARC HS38 in FPGA

Both options share exactly the same base-board and only differ with
CPU-tiles in use. That means all peripherals are the same (they are
implemented in FPGA on the base-board) and so generic board could be
used for both.

While at it:
 * Recreated defconfigs with savedefconfig
 * In include/configs/axs10x.h numerical sizes replaced with
defines from linux/sizes.h for better readability.

cc8be222d1 arc: Rename ARCangel4 board to nSIM
ARCangel was one of the main development boards back in the day but
now it's gone and replaced by other boards like ARC SDP.

But we also used to have simulation platform very similar to ARCangel4
in terms of CPU settings as well as basic IO like UART. Even though
ARCangel4 is long gone now we have a replacement for simulation which is
a plain or stand-alone nSIM and Free nSIM.

Note Free nSIM is available for download here:

And while at it:
 * Finally switch hex numerical values in nsim.h to defines from
   include/linux/sizes.h
 * Add defconfigs with ARC HS38 cores

699c4e592b arc: Update exception & interrupt handling for ARCv2
Initially IVT for ARCv2 was simply copypasted from ARCompact
with some selected fixes so basic stuff works.

Now we update it with more ARCv2 specific vectors like
 * Software Interrupt
 * Division by zero
 * Data cache consistency error
 * Misaligned access

Also normal interrupts are now implemented properly and extened to
all possible 240 items.

7a54f5177a arc: Use "-mcpu=archs" instead of deprecated "-marchs" for ARC HS
Newer ARC toolchains don't support "-marchs" option any longer.
Instead "-mcpu=archs" should be used. What's also important older
toiolchains that support ARC HS cores will also happily accept
"-mcpu=archs" so that's a very safe move.

5bea2becf3 arc: Update data accessors with use of memory barriers
Memory barriers are proven to be a requirement for both compiler and
real hardware to properly serialize access to critical data.

For example if CPU or data bus it uses may do reordering of data
accesses absence of memory barriers might easily lead to very subtle and
hard to debug data corruptions.

This implementation was heavily borrowed from up to date Linux kernel.

a4a43fcf9c arc/cache: Flush & invalidate all caches right before enabling IOC
According to ARC HS databook it is required to flush and disable
caches prior programming IOC registers. Otherwise ongoing coherent
memory operations may not observe the coherency protocols as
expected.

But since in ARC HS v2.1 there's no way to disable SLC (AKA L2 cache)
we're doing our best flushing and invalidating it.

bd91508b50 arc/cache: really do invalidate_dcache_all() even if IOC exists
invalidate_dcache_all() could be used in different use-cases
and what is especially important most of those cases won't be
related to DMAed data to or from peripherals, i.e. we'll be doing
invalidation of data used purely by CPU cores.

Given that IOC engine only snoops data that goes through DMA
we need to care ourselves about data used only by CPU cores
and so remove dependency on IOC from invalidate_dcache_all()
and always do real invalidation.

2a8382c6fe arc/cache: really do flush_dcache_all() even if IOC exists
flush_dcache_all() is used in the very end of U-Boot self relocation
to write back all copied and then patched code and data to their
new location in the very end of available memory space.

Since that has nothing to do with IO (i.e. no external DMA happens
here) IOC won't help here and we need to write back data cache contents
manually.

53637c911b arc: Add virt_to_phys() stub
Commit cf7c93cdd7 "usb: ehci: Implement V2P mapping"
introduced usage of virt_to_phys() in ehci-hcd.

Since there was no implementation of virt_to_phys() for ARC
compilation of the ehci-generic driver failed.

This change adds virt_to_phys() stub for ARC so now
USB driver for AXS101 board could be built again.

db6ce2312d arc: cache - utilize IO coherency (AKA IOC) engine
With release of ARC HS38 v2.1 new IO coherency engine could be built-in
ARC core. This hardware module ensures coherency between DMA-ed data
from peripherals and L2 cache.

With L2 and IOC enabled there's no overhead for L2 cache manual
maintenance which results in significantly improved IO bandwidth.

379b3280b3 arc: cache - accommodate different L1 cache line lengths
ARC core could be configured with different L1 and L2 (AKA SLC) cache
line lengths. At least these values are possible and were really used:
32, 64 or 128 bytes.

Current implementation requires cache line to be selected upon U-Boot
configuration and then it will only work on matching hardware. Indeed
this is quite efficient because cache line length gets hardcoded during
code compilation. But OTOH it makes binary less portable.

With this commit we allow U-Boot to determine real L1 cache line length
early in runtime and use this value later on. This extends portability
of U-Boot binary a lot.

ecc306639e Fix board init code to respect the C runtime environment
board_init_f_mem() alters the C runtime environment's
stack it is actually already using. This is not a valid
behaviour within a C runtime environment.

Split board_init_f_mem into C functions which do not alter
their own stack and always behave properly with respect to
their C runtime environment.

d0602bd467 axs103: add support of generic OHCI USB 1.1 controller
This commit adds support of USB 1.1 storage media on AXS103 board.
For some yet unknown reason USB 2.0 doesn't work on AXS103 board issuing
messages like this:

As a work-around we're falling back to USB 1.1.
Indeed it is much slower but at least USB storage devices are usable on
AXS103.

fb2dea60e8 board: axs10x switch serial port and Ethernet to driver model
With this change Synopsys DesignWare SDP board is switched to driver
model for both serial port (serial_dw) and Ethernet (Designware GMAC).

This simplifies include/configs/axs101.h and allows for reuse of Linux's
Device Tree description.

For simplicity Linux's .dts files are not blindly copied but only very
few extracts of them are really used (those that are supported in U-Boot
at the moment).

da58dec866 Various Makefiles: Add SPDX-License-Identifier tags
After consulting with some of the SPDX team, the conclusion is that
Makefiles are worth adding SPDX-License-Identifier tags too, and most of
ours have one.  This adds tags to ones that lack them and converts a few
that had full (or in one case, very partial) license blobs into the
equivalent tag.

ef639e6f70 arc: significant cache rework
[1] Align cache management functions to those in Linux kernel. I.e.:
    a) Use the same functions for all cache ops (D$ Inv/Flush)
    b) Split cache ops in 3 sub-functions: "before", "lineloop" and
"after". That way we may re-use "before" and "after" functions for
region and full cache ops.

 [2] Implement full-functional L2 (SLC) management. Before SLC was
simply disabled early on boot. It's also possible to enable or disable
L2 cache from config utility.

 [3] Disable/enable corresponding caches early on boot. So if U-Boot is
configured to use caches they will be used at all times (this is useful
in partucular for speed-up of relocation).

8b2eb776b1 arc: implement slave cores kick-start for Linux kernel
With new SMP-enabled CPUs with ARC HS38 cores and corresponding support
in Linux kernel it's required to add basic SMP support in U-Boot.

Currently we assume the one and only core starts execution after
power-on. So most of things in U-Boot is handled in UP mode.

But when U-Boot is used for loading and starting Linux kernel right
before jumping to kernel's entry point U-Boot:
 [1] Sets all slave cores to jump to the same address [kernel's entry
point]
 [2] Really starts all slav cores

In ARC's implemetation of SMP in Linux kernel all cores are supposed to
run the same start-up code. But only core with ID 0 (master core)
processes further while others are looping waiting for master core to
complete some initialization.

That means it's safe to un-pause slave cores and let them execute kernel
- they will wait for master anyway.

c9bb942e2f Move default y configs out of arch/board Kconfig
Some archs/boards specify their own default by pre-defining the config
which causes the Kconfig system to mix up the order of the configs in
the defconfigs... This will cause merge pain if allowed to proliferate.

Remove the configs that behave this way from the archs.

A few configs still remain, but that is because they only exist as
defaults and do not have a proper Kconfig entry. Those appear to be:

SPIFLASH
DISPLAY_BOARDINFO

TARGET_DUMMY was introduced to resolve the same problem as commit

574bbf4f68 arc: use more universal prefix for default CROSS_COMPILE
As doc/README.ARC says, pre-build ARC toolchains are available at
the Synopsys GitHub page.

The bin files are prefixed with arc(eb)-buildroot-linux- for earlier
releases, but with arc(eb)-snps-linux- for the latest releases.

The symbolic links prefixed with arc(eb)-linux- are also available
for all the release, so those prefixes can be used as the default
CROSS_COMPILE regardless of the toolchains version/variants.

While testing "arc: make sure _start is in the beginning of .text
section" I haven't done proper clean-up of built binaries and so missed
another tiny bit that lead to the following error:

Fix is trivial: put "start.o" in "extra-y".

89576072cb arc: make sure _start is in the beginning of .text section
This is important to have entry point in the beginning of .text section
because it allows simple loading and execution of U-Boot.

For example pre-bootloader loads U-Boot in memory starting from offset
0x81000000 and then just jumps to the same address.

Otherwise pre-bootloader would need to find-out where entry-point is. In
its turn if it deals with binary image of U-Boot there's no way for
pre-bootloader to get required value.

6eb15e50f4 arc: add support for SLC (System Level Cache, AKA L2-cache)
ARCv2 cores may have built-in SLC (System Level Cache, AKA L2-cache).
This change adds functions required for controlling SLC:
 * slc_enable/disable
 * slc_flush/invalidate

For now we just disable SLC to escape DMA coherency issues until either:
 * SLC flush/invalidate is supported in DMA APIin U-Boot
 * hardware DMA coherency is implemented (that might be board specific
   so probably we'll need to have a separate Kconfig option for
   controlling SLC explicitly)

[1] Fix misspeling in ARC_CACHE_LINE_SHIFT dependency, now cache-line
lenth selection is correctly enabled if either I$ or D$ are enabled.

 [2] Add dummy entry to target list to make sure target type is always
mentioned in defconfig. Otherwise defconfig for the first target in the
list will not have target name and later on with addition of the new
target on top of the list in Kconfig will lead to corrupted
configuration expanded from defconfig.

3fb8016360 arc: clean-up init procedure
Intention behind this work was elimination of as much assembly-written
code as it is possible.

In case of ARC we already have relocation fix-up implemented in C so why
don't we use C for U-Boot copying, .bss zeroing etc.

It turned out x86 uses pretty similar approach so we re-used parts of
code in "board_f.c" initially implemented for x86.

Now assembly usage during init is limited to stack- and frame-pointer
setup before and after relocation.

8ee28251d9 arc: move low-level interrupt and exception handlers in a separate file
This separation makes maintenance of code easier because those low-level
interrupt- or exception handling routines are pretty static and usually
require not much care while start-up code is a subject of modifications
and enhancements.

ae4a351ad9 arc: cache - build invalidate_icache_all() and invalidate_dcache_all()
always

Make both invalidate_icache_all() and invalidate_dcache_all() available
even if U-Boot is configured with CONFIG_SYS_DCACHE_OFF and/or
CONFIG_SYS_ICACHE_OFF.

This is useful because configuration of U-Boot may not match actual
hardware features. Real board may have cache(s) but for some reason we
may want to run U-Boot with cache(s) disabled (for example if some
peripherals work improperly with existing drivers if data cache is
enabled). So board may start with cache(s) enabled (that's the case for
ARC cores with built-in caches) but early in U-Boot we disable cache(s)
and make sure all contents of data cache gets flushed in RAM.

950cb9bbc7 use ASM_NL instead of '; ' for assembler new line character in the macro
For some assemblers, they use another character as newline in a macro
(e.g. arc uses '`'), so for generic assembly code, need use ASM_NL (a
macro) instead of ';' for it.

Basically this is the same patch as applied to Linux kernel -

f13606b77d arc: introduce U-Boot port for ARCv2 ISA
ARC HS and ARC EM are new cores based on ARCv2 ISA which is binary
incompatible with ISAv1 (AKA ARCompact).

Significant difference between ISAv2 and v1 is implementation of
interrupt vector table.

In v1 it is implemented in the same way as on many other architectures -
as a special location where user may put whether code executed in place
(if machine word of space is enough) or jump to a full-scale interrupt
handler.

In v2 interrupt table is just an array of adresses of real interrupt
handlers. That requires a separate section for IVT that is not encoded
as code by assembler.

This change adds support for following cores:
 * ARC EM6 (simple 32-bit microcontroller without MMU)
 * ARC HS36 (advanced 32-bit microcontroller without MMU)
 * ARC HS38 (advanced 32-bit microcontroller with MMU)

As a part of ARC HS38 new version of MMU (v4) was introduced.

Also this change adds AXS131 board which is the same DW ARC SDP base board but
with ARC HS38 CPU tile.

a67ef280f4 arc: build libgcc in U-Boot
This way we may have very limited set of functions implemented so we
save some space.

Also it allows us to build U-Boot for any ARC core with the same one
toolchain because we don't rely on pre-built libgcc.

For example:
 * we may use little-endian toolchain but build U-Boot for ether
endianess
 * we may use non-multilibbed uClibc toolchain but build U-Boot for
whatever ARC CPU flavour that current GCC supports

Private libgcc built from generic C implementation contributes only 144
bytes to .text section so we don't see significant degradation of size:

812980bdd6 arc: add more flavours of ARC700 series CPU
Now we may select a particular version of ARC700:
 * ARC750D or
 * ARC770D

It allows more flexible (or more fine tuned) configuration of U-Boot.
Before that change we relied on minimal configuration but now we may
use specific features of each CPU.

Moreover allows us to escape manual selection of options that
exist in both CPUs but may have say different version like MMUv2 in
ARC750D vs MMUv3 in ARC770D.

As a preparation to ARCv2 port submission we rename "arc700" folder to
"arcv1" which stands for ARCv1 ISA also known as ARCompact.

This will allow us to add more flavours of binary-compatible ARCv1 CPUs
like ARC600 if needed later on and all required ARCv2 CPUs (which are
binary incompatible with ARCv1) in "arcv2" folder in subsequent commits.

660d5f0d49 arc: move common sources in library
"reset.c" and "cpu.c" have no architecture-specific code at all.
Others are applicable to either ARC CPU.

This change is a preparation to submission of ARCv2 architecture port.

Even though ARCv1 and ARCv2 ISAs are not binary compatible most of
built-in modules still have the same programming model - AUX registers
are mapped in the same addresses and hold the same data (new featues
extend existing ones).

So only low-level assembly code (start-up, interrupt handlers) is left
as CPU(actually ISA)-specific. This significantyl simplifies maintenance
of multiple CPUs/ISAs.

20a58ac0d8 arc: introduce separate section for interrupt vector table
Even though existing implementation works fine in preparation to
submission of ARCv2 architecture we need this change.

In case of ARCv2 interrupt vector table consists of just addresses
of corresponding handlers. And if those addresses will be in .text
section then assembler will encode them as everything in .text section
as middle-endian and then on real execution CPU will read swapped
addresses and will jump into the wild.

Once introduced new section is situated so .text section remains the
first which allows us to use common linker option for linking everything
to a specified CONFIG_SYS_TEXT_BASE.

f8cf3d1ebd arc: check caches existence before use
Some cache operations ({i|d}cache_{enable|disable|status} or
flush_dcache_all) are built and used even if CONFIG_SYS_{I|D}CACHE_OFF
is set.

This is required for force disable of caches on early boot.
What if something was executed before U-boot and enabled caches
(low-level bootloaders, previously run kernel etc.)?

But if CPU doesn't really have caches any attempt to access
cache-related AUX registers triggers instruction error exception.

So for convenience we'll try to avoid exceptions by checking if CPU
actually has caches (we check separately data and instruction cache
existence) at all.

4c8c485ad9 arc: introduce "mdbtrick" target
MetaWare debugger (MDB) is still used as a primary tool for interaction
with target via JTAG. Moreover some very advanced features are not yet
implemented in GDB for ARC (and not sure if they will be implemnted
sometime soon given complexity and rare need for those features for
common user).

So if we're talking about development process when U-Boot is loaded in
target memory not by low-level boot-loader but manually through JTAG
chances are high developer uses MDB for it.

But MDB doesn't support PIE (position-independent executable) - it will
refuse to even start - that means no chance to load elf contents on
target.
Then the only way to load U-Boot in MDB is to fake it by:
  1. Reset PIE flag in ELF header
     This is simpe - on attempt to open elf MDB checks header and if it
doesn't match its expectation refuces to use provided elf.
  2. Strip all debug information from elf
     If (1) is done then MDB will open elf but on parsing of elf's debug
info it will refuse to process due to debug info it cannot understand
(symbols with PIE relocation).

Even though it could be done manually (I got it documented quite a while
ago here http://www.denx.de/wiki/U-Boot/ARCNotes) having this automated
way is very convenient. User may build U-Boot that will be loaded on
target via MDB saying "make mdbtrick".

Then if we now apply the manipulation MDB will happily start and will
load all required sections into the target.

Indeed there will be no source-level debug info available. But still MDB
will do its work on showing disassembly, global symbols, registers,
accessing low-level debug facilities etc.

As a summary - this is a pretty dirty hack but it simplifies life a lot
for us ARc developers.

deprecating arch/$ARCH/config.mk.

In contrary to Linux kernel, U-Boot defines the ARCH variable by
Kconfig, thus the arch Makefile can only included conditionally
after the top config.mk.

In Linux Kernel, defconfig files are located under
arch/${ARCH}/configs/ directory.
It works in Linux Kernel since ARCH is always given from the
command line for cross compile.

But in U-Boot, ARCH is not given from the command line.
Which means we cannot know ARCH until the board configuration is done.
That is why all the "*_defconfig" files should be gathered into a
single directory ./configs/.

36ae5cd2a8 arc: fix relocation for big-endian target
In case of little-endian ARC700 instructions (which may include target
address) are encoded as middle-endian. That's why it's required to swap
bytes after read and ten right before write back.

But in case of big-endian ARC700 instructions are encoded as a plain
big-endian. Thus no need for byte swapping.
