The 'possible_idx' bitmap is set just after it is zeroed, so we can save the first step. The 'free_idx' bitmap is used only at the end of the function as the result of a bitmap xor operation. So there is no need to explicitly zero it before. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
