The A83T has two video pipelines in parallel that looks quite similar to
the other SoCs.
The video planes are handled through a controller called the mixer, and the
video signal is then passed to the timing controller (TCON).
And while there is two instances of the mixers and TCONs, they have a
significant number of differences. The TCONs are quite easy to deal with,
one is supposed to generate TV (in the broader term, so including things
like HDMI) signals, the other one LCD (so RGB, LVDS, DSI) signals. And
while they are called TCON0 and TCON1 in the A83t datasheet, newer SoCs
call them TCON-TV and TCON-LCD, which seems more appropriate.
However, the mixers differ mostly by their capabilities, with some features
being available only in the first one, or the number of planes they expose,
but also through their register layout. And while the capabilities could be
represented as properties, the register layout differences would need to
express all the registers offsets as properties, which is usually quite
bad. Especially since documentation on that hardware block is close to
non-existent and we don't even have the list of all those registers in the
first place.
So let's call them mixer 0 and 1 in our compatibles, even though the name
is pretty bad...
At the moment, we only have tested the code on a board that has a single
display output, so we're leaving the tcon-tv and mixer1 out.

This updates the compatible string for a no-name LCD panel to
"vot,v220hf01a-t", "ilitek,ili9225".
The original bindings [1] were the generic "ilitek,ili9225-2.2in-176x220"
because I could not find a datasheet. However, after some more research,
I finally found one, so the actual vendor and model name are now known.
This previous bindings have not made it to the mainline kernel yet, so
this is not breaking backwards compatibility.
This is also following the precedence of the ILI9322 bindings [2] by using
the pattern "vendor,specific-system-config", "vendor,ip-part";

The device tree bindings are updated to document the resets phandle, and
the example is updated to match what is expected for both the reset and
clock phandle.
Note that the bindings should have always had the reset controller, as
the hardware is unusable without it.

The CPUs on Qualcomm MSM8916-based platforms are clocked by two PLLs,
a primary (A53) CPU PLL and a secondary fixed-rate GPLL0. These sources
are connected to a mux and half-integer divider, which is feeding the
CPU cores.
This patch adds support for the primary CPU PLL which generates the
higher range of frequencies above 1GHz.

Exynos platforms have a PCI PHY driver in the PHY framework that can be
used by the PCI host bridge drivers to initialize and manage the PHY.
Remove the deprecated PHY initialization code in the Exynos PCI host
bridge driver by updating the driver to use the PHY framework API;

AT24 EEPROMs have a write-protect pin, which - when pulled high -
inhibits writes to the upper quadrant of memory (although it has been
observed that on some chips it disables writing to the entire memory
range).
On some boards, this pin is connected to a GPIO and pulled high by
default, which forces the user to manually change its state before
writing. On linux this means that we either need to hog the line all
the time, or set the GPIO value before writing from outside of the
at24 driver.
Add a new optional property to the device tree binding document, which
allows to specify the GPIO line to which the write-protect pin is
connected.

The DE2 CCU is different on A83T and H3 -- the parent of the clocks on
A83T is PLL_DE but on H3 it's the DE module clock. This is not noticed
when I develop the DE2 CCU driver.
Fix the binding by using different compatibles for A83T and H3, adding
notes for the PLL_DE usage on A83T, and change the binding example's
compatible from A83T to H3 (as it specifies the DE module clock).

In the provided example the unit address does not match the 'reg' value,
as IMX7_POWER_DOMAIN_PCIE_PHY is defined as 1.
Fix the unit address and avoid using defines in reg as per Rob
Herring's recommendation.

Devices have inter-dependencies some times. For example a device that
needs to run at 800 MHz, needs another device (e.g. Its power domain) to
be configured at a particular operating performance point.
This patch introduces a new property "required-opp" which can be present
directly in a device's node (if it doesn't need to change its OPPs), or
in device's OPP nodes. More details on the property can be seen in the
binding itself.

Power-domains can also have their active states and this patch enhances
the OPP binding to define those. The power domains can use the OPP
bindings as is, with one additional change to Allow
"operating-points-v2" property to contain multiple phandles for power
domain providers providing multiple domains.

SLIMbus (Serial Low Power Interchip Media Bus) is a specification
developed by MIPI (Mobile Industry Processor Interface) alliance.
SLIMbus is a 2-wire implementation, which is used to communicate with
peripheral components like audio-codec.

As a kernel newcomer, I got bitten by lack of examples on this front. I
had troubles figuring out where these clocks could be defined ("/clocks"
is where the generic infrastructure expects them).
One should also ensure that a unique name is used. Generic names such as
"osc" tend to be already used by some board-wide clock crystals.

Disabling IRQ #51
On a multi-UART max310x, each UART has its own interrupt status register
which automatically de-asserts the IRQ line upon read. (There are also
top-level IRQ indicator registers which are not clear-on-read, but they
are not relevant here.) It was quite possible to receive a pending IRQ
for, e.g., UART0, enter the threaded IRQ handler, clear the ISR for
UART0 which de-asserts the IRQ line, and then race with another event on
the same chip, but a different UART channel. That resulted in another
edge on the shared-within-the-chip IRQ line which got intercepted by the
kernel.
That all led to an edge-level interrupt which was not being handled by
anybody because our threaded handler hasn't finished yet. As the chip
actually uses *level* triggered IRQs, let's convert the example DT
bindings to these.

max-memory-bandwidth can be used to specify the maximum bandwidth dispc
can use when reading display data from main memory.
In some SoC (am437x for example) we have memory bandwidth limitation
which causes underflow in the display subsystem.

Certain EEPROMS have a size that is larger than the number of address
bytes would allow, and store the MSB of the address in bit 3 of the
instruction byte.
This can be described in platform data using EE_INSTR_BIT3_IS_ADDR, or
in DT using the obsolete legacy "at25,addr-mode" property.
But currently there exists no non-deprecated way to describe this in DT.
Hence extend the existing "address-width" DT property to allow
specifying 9 address bits, and enable support for that in the driver.
This has been tested with a Microchip 25LC040A.

Message Manager's mailbox interrupts are queue based and not proxy
specific. The interrupt names are wrong in the binding, however
correctly reflected in the example provided. Remove the relation
to proxy ID in the documentation of binding. Existing device tree
descriptions follow the correct conventions already and documentation
update has been missed.

Update the device tree binding documentation for the Marvell EBU UART,
in order to allow describing the extended UART IP block, in addition to
the already supported standard UART IP. This requires adding a new
compatible string, the introduction of a clocks property, and extensions
to the interrupts property.

The ti-sysc binding does not yet describe the capabilities of the
interconnect target module. So to make the ti-sysc binding usable
for configuring the interconnect target module, we need to add few
more properties:
1. To detect between omap2 and omap4 timers, let's add compatibles
for them for "ti,sysc-omap2-timer" and,sysc-omap4-timer". This
makes it easier to pick up the already initialized system timers
later on
2. Let's add "ti,sysc-mask" for a mask of features supported by the
interconnect target module. This describes what we have available
in the various SYSCONFIG registers
3. Let's add "ti,sysc-midle" and "ti,sysc-sidle" lists for the master
and slave idle modes supported by the interconnect target module.
These describe the values available for MIDLE and SIDLE bits in
the SYSCONFIG registers
4. Some interconnect target modules need a short delay after reset
before they can be accessed, let's use "ti,sysc-delay-us" for
that
5. Let's add "ti,syss-mask" bit to describe the optional SYSSTATUS
register bits for reset done bits
6. Let's support the two existing custom quirk properties already
listed in Documentation/devicetree/bindings/arm/omap/omap.txt for
"ti,no-reset-on-init" and "ti,no-idle-on-init"
7. And finally, let's add a header for the binding for the dts
files and the driver to use

The bus + bmi-chip-id + bmi-board-id is not enough to identify the correct
board data file on QCA4019 based devices. Multiple different boards share
the same values. Only the original reference designs can currently be
identified and loaded from the board-2.bin. But these will not result in
the correct calibration data when combined with the pre-calibration data
from the device.
An additional "variant" information has to be provided (via SMBIOS or DT)
to select the correct board data for a design which was modified by an ODM.

Currently only the MSIOF_SYNC signal can be used as a native chip

MSIOF_SS1 and MSIOF_SS2 signals.

Some PHYs need a minimum time after the reset gpio was asserted and/or
deasserted. To ensure we meet these timing requirements add two new
optional devicetree parameters for the phy: reset-delay-us and
reset-post-delay-us.

Document r8a774[35] specific compatible strings. The Renesas RZ/G1[ME]
(r8a774[35]) sound modules are identical to the R-Car Gen2 family.
No driver change is needed as the fallback compatible string
"renesas,rcar_sound-gen2" activates the right code in the driver.

As opposed to earlier incarnations, the memory controller on Tegra186 no
longer implements an SMMU. Instead the SMMU is a regular ARM SMMU and in
a separate IP block.
However, the memory controller programs the SMMU stream IDs for each of
the memory clients. Add a header file with definitions for each of these
stream IDs and mark the #iommu-cells property as required on Tegra30 to
Tegra210 in the device tree bindings.

This adds a compatible string for the Texas Instruments CC2560 Bluetooth
chip to the existing TI WiLink shared transport bindings. These chips are
similar enough that the same bindings work for both. The file is renamed
to ti-bluetooth.txt to make it more generic.

This reverts commit b07815d4ea.
The reverted commit was merged into v4-15-rc1 by mistake: it was taken
from the IMX tree but the patch has never been sent to linux-mtd nor
reviewed by any spi-nor maintainers.
Actually, it would have been rejected since we add new values for the
'compatible' DT property only for SPI NOR memories that don't support
the JEDEC READ ID op code (0x9F).
Both en25s64 and sst25wf040b support the JEDEC READ ID op code, hence
should use the "jedec,spi-nor" string alone as 'compatible' value.

The TI TAS5722 digital amplifier is very similar to the TAS5720 from an
overall and register map perspective. Therefore the existing driver can be
extended easily to support this additional device. This commit allows
TAS5722 devices to be used in a "subset" type of fashion, without exposing
any of the additional features they offer.

The I2S controller in the A83T is mostly compatible with the one found
in earlier SoCs such as the A20 and A31. While the documents publicly
available for the A83T do not cover this hardware, the officially
released BSP kernel does have register definitions for it. These were
matched against the A20 user manual. The only difference is the TX FIFO
and interrupt status registers have been swapped around, like what we
have seen with the SPDIF controller.
This patch adds support for this hardware.

The GPIO polarity passed to phy-reset-gpio is ignored by the FEC
driver and it is assumed to be active low.
It can be active high only when the 'phy-reset-active-high' property
is present.
The current examples pass active high polarity and work fine, but
in order to improve the documentation make it explicit what the real
polarity is.

Some platforms (e.g. TI's DRA7 USB2 instance) have more trouble
with the metastability workaround as it supports only
a High-Speed PHY and the PHY can enter into an Erratic state [1]
when the controller is set in SuperSpeed mode as part of
the metastability workaround.
This causes upto 2 seconds delay in enumeration on DRA7's USB2
instance in gadget mode.
If these platforms can be better off without the workaround,
provide a device tree property to suggest that so the workaround
is avoided.

This adds basic support for BQ27521 battery monitor, used in Nokia N9
and N950. In particular, battery voltage is important to be able to
tell when the battery is almost empty. Emptying battery on N950 is
pretty painful, as flasher needs to be used to recover phone in such case.

The xHCI driver currently has the IMOD set to 160, which
translates to an IMOD interval of 40,000ns (160 * 250)ns
Commit 0cbd4b34cd ("xhci: mediatek: support MTK xHCI host controller")
introduced a QUIRK for the MTK platform to adjust this interval to 20,
which translates to an IMOD interval of 5,000ns (20 * 250)ns. This is
due to the fact that the MTK controller IMOD interval is 8 times
as much as defined in xHCI spec.
Instead of adding more quirk bits for additional platforms, this patch
introduces the ability for vendors to set the IMOD_INTERVAL as is
optimal for their platform. By using device_property_read_u32() on
"imod-interval-ns", the IMOD INTERVAL can be specified in nano seconds.
If no interval is specified, the default of 40,000ns (IMOD=160) will be
used.
No bounds checking has been implemented due to the fact that a vendor
may have violated the spec and would need to specify a value outside of
the max 8,000 IRQs/second limit specified in the xHCI spec.

The AXP813 has only two GPIOs. GPIO0 can either be used as a GPIO, an
LDO regulator or an ADC. GPIO1 can be used either as a GPIO or an LDO
regulator.
Moreover, the status bit of the GPIOs when in input mode is not offset
by 4 unlike the AXP209.

The X-Powers AXP209 has 3 GPIOs. GPIO0/1 can each act either as a GPIO,
an ADC or a LDO regulator. GPIO2 can only act as a GPIO.
This adds the pinctrl features to the driver so GPIO0/1 can be used as
ADC or LDO regulator.

The PHY devices sometimes do have their reset signal (maybe even power
supply?) tied to some GPIO and sometimes it also does happen that a boot
loader does not leave it deasserted. So far this issue has been attacked
from (as I believe) a wrong angle: by teaching the MAC driver to manipulate
the GPIO in question; that solution, when applied to the device trees, led
to adding the PHY reset GPIO properties to the MAC device node, with one
exception: Cadence MACB driver which could handle the "reset-gpios" prop
in a PHY device subnode. I believe that the correct approach is to teach
the 'phylib' to get the MDIO device reset GPIO from the device tree node
corresponding to this device -- which this patch is doing...
Note that I had to modify the AT803x PHY driver as it would stop working
otherwise -- it made use of the reset GPIO for its own purposes...

Despite commit 55020c8056 ("of: Add vendor prefix for ON Semiconductor
Corp.") was made long ago, the latter commit 9f49f6dd04 ("gpio: pca953x:
add onsemi,pca9654 id") made use of another, undocumented vendor prefix.
Since such prefix doesn't seem to be used in any device trees, I think we
can just fix the "compatible" string in the driver and the bindings and be
done with that...

The ASPEED SoC must deassert a reset in order to use the ADC peripheral.
The device tree bindings are updated to document the resets phandle, and
the example is updated to match what is expected for both the reset and
clock phandle. Note that the bindings should have always had the reset
controller, as the hardware is unusable without it.

This adds a new binding for display panels that use an Ilitek ILI9225
controller.
The "ilitek,ili9225-2.2in-176x220" device listed has no identification
markings whatsoever and an hour of googling turned up nothing, hence the use
of the size and resolution in the name instead of a model name.

The FlexCAN controller can be modelled as little or big endian depending
on SOC design. This device tree property identifies the controller
endianness and the driver reads/writes controller registers based on
that.
This is optional property. i.e. if this property is not present in
device tree node then controller is assumed to be little endian. if this
property is present then controller is assumed to be big endian.

With a nxp,se97 chip on an atmel sama5d31 board, the I2C adapter driver
is not always capable of avoiding the 25-35 ms timeout as specified by
the SMBUS protocol. This may cause silent corruption of the last bit of
any transfer, e.g. a one is read instead of a zero if the sensor chip
times out. This also affects the eeprom half of the nxp-se97 chip, where
this silent corruption was originally noticed. Other I2C adapters probably
suffer similar issues, e.g. bit-banging comes to mind as risky...
The SMBUS register in the nxp chip is not a standard Jedec register, but
it is not special to the nxp chips either, at least the atmel chips
have the same mechanism. Therefore, do not special case this on the
manufacturer, it is opt-in via the device property anyway.

but this binding uses "gpio-reset". It is not compatible with newer
methods used to fetch GPIO pins and to prevent the spread of this error
to other bindings let's rename to be more standard.
We also standardize the pin as active-low, different device trees have
marked the GPIO different ways, luckily the driver currently uses the
low-level GPIO set function which does not respect the active-low flag,
but future changes may change this. This is an active-low reset, mark
it as such.
Lastly, add an example of use for this property.

The driver makes the crosstalk funciton disabled by default
which can simplify the codec function. The platform may not
need this funciton and reduce the potential risk. Therefore,
We change the property "nuvoton,crosstalk-bypass" to
"nuvoton,crosstalk-enable". The crosstalk measurement is enabled
if the property is set. Otherwise, it is disabled. Besides,
add more condition in the entry point of the crosstalk sequence
to disable the function completely.

rs485 allows for robust half-duplex serial communication. It is often
implemented by attaching an rs485 transceiver to a UART. The UART's
RTS line is wired to the transceiver's Transmit Enable pin and
determines whether the transceiver is sending or receiving.

In the devicetree, the transceiver itself is not represented, only the
UART is. A few rs485-specific dt-bindings already exist and these go
into the UART's device node.
This commit adds a binding to set the RTS polarity. Most (if not all)
transceivers require the Transmit Enable pin be driven high for sending,
but in some cases boards may negate the pin and RTS must then be driven
low. Consequently the polarity defaults to active high but can be
inverted with the newly added "rs485-rts-active-low" binding.
Document this binding in rs485.txt and in the two drivers fsl-imx-uart
and fsl-lpuart that are about to be amended with support for it.
Curiously, the omap_serial driver defaults to active low and already
supports an "rs485-rts-active-high" binding to invert the polarity.
This is left unchanged to retain compatibility, but the binding is
herewith documented.

Add a new binding for USB interface nodes, which are child nodes of
USB device nodes and addressed by interface number and configuration
value tuples.
Also add a new binding for USB combined nodes, which are special case
nodes for simple USB devices for which they replace the device and
interface nodes.
For completeness, define the already used terms "host-controller node",
"device node" and "hub node".

The property "post-power-on-delay-ms" allows a platform to specify
the delay needed after power-on, but only via device trees currently.
Use device_property_* instead of of_* reads to allow ACPI systems to
also provide the same information. This is useful for Wacom hardware
on ACPI systems.
