This patch modifies the table based SuperH gpio implementation to
make use of direct table lookups. With this change the functions
gpio_get_value() and gpio_set_value() are O(1).
Tested on Migo-R using bitbanging mmc. Performance is improved from
11 KBytes/s to 26 Kbytes/s.

Now that all EEPROM drivers live in the same place, let's harmonize
their symbol names.

unaligned and nonexistent address causes wrong exception
handling in traps_32.c(handle_unaligned_access).
'handle_unalinged_ins' should return -EFAULT if address error
is fixed up with kernel exception table, otherwise
'handle_unaligned_access' increases already fixed program counter
and then crash.
for example
ioctl(fd, TCGETA, (struct termio *)-1)
never return and stay in TASK_UNINTERRUPTIBLE state forever
in my kernel.

ISA can go away now that the hd6446x PCMCIA drivers no longer exist
in-tree. The rationale for enabling CONFIG_ISA in the first place is
likewise no longer valid given that the subsystem has changed since
the time that assertion was valid.
While we are at it, kill off SBUS, MCA, EISA, and so on. These are
not supported and never will be.

Make VMAs per mm_struct as for MMU-mode linux. This solves two problems:
(1) In SYSV SHM where nattch for a segment does not reflect the number of
shmat's (and forks) done.
(2) In mmap() where the VMA's vm_mm is set to point to the parent mm by an
exec'ing process when VM_EXECUTABLE is specified, regardless of the fact
that a VMA might be shared and already have its vm_mm assigned to another
process or a dead process.
A new struct (vm_region) is introduced to track a mapped region and to remember
the circumstances under which it may be shared and the vm_list_struct structure
is discarded as it's no longer required.
This patch makes the following additional changes:
(1) Regions are now allocated with alloc_pages() rather than kmalloc() and
with no recourse to __GFP_COMP, so the pages are not composite. Instead,
each page has a reference on it held by the region. Anything else that is
interested in such a page will have to get a reference on it to retain it.
When the pages are released due to unmapping, each page is passed to
put_page() and will be freed when the page usage count reaches zero.
(2) Excess pages are trimmed after an allocation as the allocation must be
made as a power-of-2 quantity of pages.
(3) VMAs are added to the parent MM's R/B tree and mmap lists. As an MM may
end up with overlapping VMAs within the tree, the VMA struct address is
appended to the sort key.
(4) Non-anonymous VMAs are now added to the backing inode's prio list.
(5) Holes may be punched in anonymous VMAs with munmap(), releasing parts of
the backing region. The VMA and region structs will be split if
necessary.
(6) sys_shmdt() only releases one attachment to a SYSV IPC shared memory
segment instead of all the attachments at that addresss. Multiple
shmat()'s return the same address under NOMMU-mode instead of different
virtual addresses as under MMU-mode.
(7) Core dumping for ELF-FDPIC requires fewer exceptions for NOMMU-mode.
(8) /proc/maps is now the global list of mapped regions, and may list bits
that aren't actually mapped anywhere.
(9) /proc/meminfo gains a line (tagged "MmapCopy") that indicates the amount
of RAM currently allocated by mmap to hold mappable regions that can't be
mapped directly. These are copies of the backing device or file if not
anonymous.
These changes make NOMMU mode more similar to MMU mode. The downside is that
NOMMU mode requires some extra memory to track things over NOMMU without this
patch (VMAs are no longer shared, and there are now region structs).

While looking at reducing the amount of architecture namespace pollution
in the generic kernel, I found that asm/irq.h is included in the vast
majority of compilations on ARM (around 650 files.)
Since asm/irq.h includes a sub-architecture include file on ARM, this
causes a negative impact on the ccache's ability to re-use the build
results from other sub-architectures, so we have a desire to reduce the
dependencies on asm/irq.h.
It turns out that a major cause of this is the needless include of
linux/hardirq.h into asm-generic/local.h. The patch below removes this
include, resulting in some 250 to 300 files (around half) of the kernel
then omitting asm/irq.h.
My test builds still succeed, provided two ARM files are fixed
(arch/arm/kernel/traps.c and arch/arm/mm/fault.c) - so there may be
negative impacts for this on other architectures.
Note that x86 does not include asm/irq.h nor linux/hardirq.h in its
asm/local.h, so this patch can be viewed as bringing the generic version
into line with the x86 version.

Show node to memory section relationship with symlinks in sysfs
Add /sys/devices/system/node/nodeX/memoryY symlinks for all
the memory sections located on nodeX. For example:
/sys/devices/system/node/node1/memory135 -> ../../memory/memory135
indicates that memory section 135 resides on node1.
Also revises documentation to cover this change as well as updating
Documentation/ABI/testing/sysfs-devices-memory to include descriptions
of memory hotremove files 'phys_device', 'phys_index', and 'state'
that were previously not described there.
In addition to it always being a good policy to provide users with
the maximum possible amount of physical location information for
resources that can be hot-added and/or hot-removed, the following
are some (but likely not all) of the user benefits provided by
this change.
Immediate:
- Provides information needed to determine the specific node
on which a defective DIMM is located. This will reduce system
downtime when the node or defective DIMM is swapped out.
- Prevents unintended onlining of a memory section that was
previously offlined due to a defective DIMM. This could happen
during node hot-add when the user or node hot-add assist script
onlines _all_ offlined sections due to user or script inability
to identify the specific memory sections located on the hot-added
node. The consequences of reintroducing the defective memory
could be ugly.
- Provides information needed to vary the amount and distribution
of memory on specific nodes for testing or debugging purposes.
Future:
- Will provide information needed to identify the memory
sections that need to be offlined prior to physical removal
of a specific node.
Symlink creation during boot was tested on 2-node x86_64, 2-node
ppc64, and 2-node ia64 systems. Symlink creation during physical
memory hot-add tested on a 2-node x86_64 system.

arch_setup_additional_pages currently gets two arguments, the binary
format descripton and an indication if the process uses an executable
stack or not. The second argument is not used by anybody, it could
be removed without replacement.
What actually does make sense is to pass an indication if the process
uses the elf interpreter or not. The glibc code will not use anything
from the vdso if the process does not use the dynamic linker, so for
statically linked binaries the architecture backend can choose not
to map the vdso.

not require interrupts at this point, but changes such as one-shot SYS

This enables the same functionality that sh64 has for sh32. When running
on simulated hardware or via remote memory via the debug interface,
memory is gauranteed to be zero on boot already, and skipping the zeroing
of BSS has measurable boot time benefits.

Now that the rest of the boards that were using cf-enabler "generically"
have switched to setting up their mappings on their own, only the mach-se
boards were left using it. All of the cf-enabler using mach-se boards
use a special initialization of the MRSHPC windows rather than going
through the special PTE as other SH-4 platforms do. This consolidates
the MRSHPC setup logic, hooks it up on the boards that care, and gets rid
of any and all remaining references to cf-enabler.
This has been long overdue, as cf-enabler has been the bane of
arch/sh/kernel for the last 7 years. Good riddance.

This can use the same implementation as sh64, the generated assembly is
the same between the new and old version, so there is not much point in
leaving it open coded in inline assembly.
This is preparatory work for future consolidation of the _32/_64
variants.

With the reworked kgdb support, we always detach and reinitialize the
stub. This was mostly a feature for handoffs between sh-ipl+g and the
kgdb stub, but virtually no sh-ipl+g versions ever had this working
right in the first place.
Given that the sh-ipl+g stubs in general use today don't even support
the GDB stub, and we have already killed off the special casing in the
sh-sci serial driver, kill off this now unused symbol too.

This converts the sh64 /proc/asids entry to debugfs and enables it for
all SH parts that have debugfs enabled.
On MMU systems this can be used to determine which processes are using
which ASIDs which in turn can be used for finer grained cache tag
analysis.

These were left over from some time ago, sh64 never got around to

This kills off the special Migo-R machvec, as nothing is using it. By
default this will switch to using the generic machvec, which provides the
same functionality. This saves us a bit of space in the machvec section.

The INTEVT read at interrupt exception entry is uneccessary, as the read
is deferred until we are ready to enter do_IRQ(). The kgdb nmi path still
requires it, so move it there.

drivers/oprofile/ objects have proven to be problematic in this regard,
so simply disable -Werror for now.

We chan't share code for udivsi3 and udivsi3_i4, because they
have a different clobber list. Copy udivsi3 from gcc-4.1.2.
As shown in arch/sh/lib/udivsi3.S (and -Os.S),
.global __udivsi3_i4i
.global __udivsi3_i4
.global __udivsi3
__udivsi3_i4i:

Three symbols are sharing one code, which is actually udivsi3_i4i.
But, this results unwanted code with gcc 4.1.
In gcc, these three are treated as pseudo instructions that have
their own clobber list apart from the usual calling convention.
According to sh's machine description. The clobber list is as
follows:
- udivsi3_i4i : t,r1,pr,mach,macl
- udivsi3_i4 : t,r0,r1,r4,r5,pr,dr0,dr2,dr4
- udivsi3 : t,r4,pr
The caller of udivsi3 will be left with a broken r1 and mac*.
gcc-4.1.x and older(at least to 3.4) generate udivsi3.
ST's gcc-4.1.1 seems to be OK because it has _i4i.

This fixes up the __mutex_fastpath_xxx() routines to match the semantics
noted in the comment. Previously these were looping rather than doing a
single-pass, which is counter-intuitive, as the slow path takes care of
the looping for us in the event of contention.

Use struct irq_chip for the interrupt handler for the HD64461. Also
convert some in{b,w} and out{b,w} calls to the equivalent __raw_* calls.
Include <linux/io.h> and not <asm/io.h> to stop checkpatch.pl
complaining.
This change should now allow machines with HD64461 to define
GENERIC_HARDIRQS_NO__DO_IRQ.

When idle is called, interrupts are blocked, but the idle
function will still wake up on an interrupt. The problem is
that the interrupt disabled latency tracer will take this call
to idle as a latency.
This patch disables the latency tracing when going into idle.

This implements a simple show_code() that is in turn plugged in to
show_regs() to provide minimal code dumping at the end of the trace.
Built on top of a simple instruction disassembler derived from the
binutils opcode table.

This was removed in the libgcc integration, but there are still some
compilers that need this. We also relax the rules on the ISA tuning in
the cases where there are no matches for the CPU tuning and adopt the
-any default, which matches the intent of the isa-y target list. This
compensates for mismatches where binutils supports a wide array of
targets whilst the compiler is much more restricted.

This adds support for unaligned loads on SH-4A, using the SH-4A's
neutered movua.l instruction. As movua.l is r0-inspired, stores are
still handled through the packed struct.

This patch adds a pass-through case when ioremapping P4 addresses.
Addresses passed to ioremap() should be physical addresses, so the
best option is usually to convert the virtual address to a physical
address before calling ioremap. This will give you a virtual address
in P2 which matches the physical address and this works well for
most internal hardware blocks on the SuperH architecture.
However, some hardware blocks must be accessed through P4. Converting
the P4 address to a physical and then back to a P2 does not work. One
example of this is the sh7722 TMU block, it must be accessed through P4.
Without this patch P4 addresses will be mapped using PTEs which
requires the page allocator to be up and running.

Each SMP arch defines these themselves. Move them to a central
location.
Twists:
1) Some archs (m32, parisc, s390) set possible_map to all 1, so we add a
CONFIG_INIT_ALL_POSSIBLE for this rather than break them.
2) mips and sparc32 '#define cpu_possible_map phys_cpu_present_map'.
Those archs simply have phys_cpu_present_map replaced everywhere.
3) Alpha defined cpu_possible_map to cpu_present_map; this is tricky
so I just manipulate them both in sync.
4) IA64, cris and m32r have gratuitous 'extern cpumask_t cpu_possible_map'
declarations.

Under qemu there is a race between the TDxE read-and-clear and the SCxTDR
write. While on hardware it can be gauranteed that the read-and-clear
will happen prior to the character being written out, no such assumption
can be made under emulation. As this path happens with IRQs off and the
hardware itself doesn't care about the ordering, move the SCxTDR write
until after the read-and-clear.

The __copy_user function can corrupt the stack in the case of a
non-trivial length of data, and either of the first two move instructions
cause an exception. This is because the fixup for these two instructions
is mapped to the no_pop case, but these instructions execute after the
stack is pushed.
This change creates an explicit NO_POP exception mapping macro, and uses
it for the two instructions executed in the trivial case where no stack
pushes occur.

This patch fixes the TMU0 interrupt frequency on suspend/resume.
During the resume the kernel reprograms the TMU0.ClockEvent mode
but if the mode is periodic than the TMU0.TCOR is updated with
a random wrong value without taking care latest valid saved value.
There was no problem with No_HZ system where TMU0.TCOR isn't used.

With the PMB enabled, only P1SEG and up are covered by the PMB mappings,
meaning that situations where out-of-bounds physical addresses are read
from will lead to TLB reset after the PMB miss, allowing for use cases
like dd if=/dev/mem to reset the TLB.
Fix this up to make sure the reference is between __MEMORY_START (phys)
and __pa(high_memory). This is coherent across all variants of sh/sh64
with and without MMU, though the PMB bug itself is only applicable to
SH-4A parts.

There was a race in the kmap_coherent() implementation. While we
guarded against preemption, there was nothing preventing eviction of
the pre-faulted fixmap entry from the UTLB. Under certain workloads
this would result in the fixmap entries used for cache colouring being
evicted from the UTLB in the midst of a copy_page().
In addition to pre-faulting, we also make sure to preserve the PTEs
in the kernel page table and introduce a cached PTE for kmap_coherent()
usage. This follows a similar change on MIPS ("[MIPS] Fix aliasing bug
in copy_to_user_page / copy_from_user_page").

This code has been dead for many years. The last update it received
was in 2003 in order to update it for the driver model changes, though
it had already been in disarray and unused before that point. The only
boards that ever used this chip have not had users in many years either,
so it is finally safe to just kill it off and move on with life.

The ISA tuning as it is today can not cope with all of the different
variations that are possible, so all we can do is a best attempt based on
the CPU family. The DSP and FPU generation are already at odds with each
other, and the nommu tuning we weren't handling at all. Additionally,
for platforms that never had an FPU, the -nofpu variant never existed,
meaning that we would lose out on family granular tuning completely in
certain cases.
With tat out of the way, we were also using -up versions, allowing for
later instructions that branched off of a particular subset of the ISA,
but are not actually reflected on the hardware being targetted. This
leads to some confusion, and the possibility of bogus instructions on
older parts. Kill that off and lock it down to the family being built
for specifically.

Presently there is very little standing in the way of using an SH-4
toolchain for building an SH-2 kernel, and vice versa. Binutils itself
has no limitations whatsoever and supports explicit ISA hinting, which
we already use with varying degrees of success today.
This leaves GCC as the odd one out, due to a rather dubious policy
decision by the GCC folks to not include all of the CPU family variants
in the default list of multilib targets in GCC4. Despite best efforts to
the contrary, libgcc itself already contains awareness of the various CPU
types and remains generally usable, allowing it to safely be referenced
even on a mismatched target (and indeed, explicit ISA tuning by binutils
keeps us honest in terms of ensuring that we do not link incompatible
objects in).
In order to support this, a couple of changes had to be made. Firstly,
the introduction of MAYBE_DECLARE_EXPORT(), which provides a __weak
extern reference for libgcc resident routines when finer-grained
-m<cpu-family> based tuning is not supported by the toolchain. This
fixes up the __sdivsi3_i4i and __udivsi3_i4i references when dealing
with SH-2 kernels linked with an SH-4 libgcc. Secondly, in case where we
are unable to find a suitable match for CPU family tuning but still
have a toolchain that defaults to FP instruction generation, a suitable
nofpu target must be selected. This is accomplished by selecting the
first nofpu multilib target supported by the toolchain, which is
also necessary for selecting the proper libgcc to link against.

Commit 3f5a54e371 ("ftrace: dump out ftrace
buffers to console on panic") added an ftrace buffer dumper that hooks
in to the die notifier chain and dumps out data in the oops path.
Unfortunately SH supported ftrace but didn't support DIE_OOPS, so add
that in and get it building again.

o elfcorehdr_addr is used by not only the code under CONFIG_PROC_VMCORE
but also by the code which is not inside CONFIG_PROC_VMCORE. For
example, is_kdump_kernel() is used by powerpc code to determine if
kernel is booting after a panic then use previous kernel's TCE table.
So even if CONFIG_PROC_VMCORE is not set in second kernel, one should be
able to correctly determine that we are booting after a panic and setup
calgary iommu accordingly.
o So remove the assumption that elfcorehdr_addr is under
CONFIG_PROC_VMCORE.
o Move definition of elfcorehdr_addr to arch dependent crash files.

o kexec.c is not the right place as one can Have CRASH_DUMP enabled in
second kernel without KEXEC being enabled.
o I don't see sh setup code parsing the command line for
elfcorehdr_addr. I am wondering how does vmcore interface work on sh.
Anyway, I am atleast defining elfcoredhr_addr so that compilation is not
broken on sh.

This patch implements a new freezer subsystem in the control groups
framework. It provides a way to stop and resume execution of all tasks in
a cgroup by writing in the cgroup filesystem.
The freezer subsystem in the container filesystem defines a file named
freezer.state. Writing "FROZEN" to the state file will freeze all tasks
in the cgroup. Subsequently writing "RUNNING" will unfreeze the tasks in
the cgroup. Reading will return the current state.
* Examples of usage :
# mkdir /containers/freezer
# mount -t cgroup -ofreezer freezer /containers
# mkdir /containers/0
# echo $some_pid > /containers/0/tasks
to get status of the freezer subsystem :
# cat /containers/0/freezer.state
RUNNING
to freeze all tasks in the container :
# echo FROZEN > /containers/0/freezer.state
# cat /containers/0/freezer.state
FREEZING
# cat /containers/0/freezer.state
FROZEN
to unfreeze all tasks in the container :
# echo RUNNING > /containers/0/freezer.state
# cat /containers/0/freezer.state
RUNNING
This is the basic mechanism which should do the right thing for user space
task in a simple scenario.
It's important to note that freezing can be incomplete. In that case we
return EBUSY. This means that some tasks in the cgroup are busy doing
something that prevents us from completely freezing the cgroup at this
time. After EBUSY, the cgroup will remain partially frozen -- reflected
by freezer.state reporting "FREEZING" when read. The state will remain
"FREEZING" until one of these things happens:
1) Userspace cancels the freezing operation by writing "RUNNING" to
the freezer.state file
2) Userspace retries the freezing operation by writing "FROZEN" to
the freezer.state file (writing "FREEZING" is not legal
and returns EIO)
3) The tasks that blocked the cgroup from entering the "FROZEN"
state disappear from the cgroup's set of tasks.

The pinmux management is tied in to this code, while it is presently only
used by platforms that select GENERIC_GPIO. The asm/gpio.h definitions
are not referenced when GENERIC_GPIO is disabled, resulting in a build
failure for all of the platforms that don't select it.

This tidies up a lot of the PIO/MMIO split. No in-tree platforms were
making use of the MMIO overloading through the machvec (nor have any of
them been in some time), so we just kill all of that off. The ISA I/O
routine wrapping remains unaffected, which remains the only special
casing outside of the iomap API that boards need to think about.

This implements a few trace points across events that are deemed
interesting. This implements a number of trace points:
- The page fault handler / TLB miss
- IPC calls
- Kernel thread creation
The original LTTng patch had the slow-path instrumented, which
fails to account for the vast majority of events. In general
placing this in the fast-path is not a huge performance hit, as
we don't take page faults for kernel addresses.
The other bits of interest are some of the other trap handlers, as
well as the syscall entry/exit (which is better off being handled
through the tracehook API). Most of the other trap handlers are corner
cases where alternate means of notification exist, so there is little
value in placing extra trace points in these locations.
Based on top of the points provided both by the LTTng instrumentation
patch as well as the patch shipping in the ST-Linux tree, albeit in a
stripped down form.

'[POWERPC] Fix kernel stack allocation alignment'.
SH has traditionally forced the thread order to be relative to the page
size, so there were never any situations where the same bug was
triggered by slub. Regardless, the usage of > 8kB stacks for the larger
page sizes is overkill, so we switch to using slab allocations there,
as per the powerpc change.

This combination triggers a divide by zero in kernel/fork.c when
calculating the initial max_threads value:
max_threads = mempages / (8 * THREAD_SIZE / PAGE_SIZE);
Simply disable 4K stacks on 64kB PAGE_SIZE to work around this,
as it's not a terribly useful combination to begin with.

HAVE_IOREMAP_PROT enables an unconditional reference to
generic_access_phys(), which remains undefined in the nommu case.
As there's no point in supporting this there anyways, simply fix
up the dependency.

These have been using overrides for ELF_CORE_COPY_TASK_REGS and
ELF_CORE_COPY_FPREGS while the generic versions can be used instead.
Presently the pt_regs are also duplicated across elf_core_copy_regs()
and elf_core_copy_task_regs(), this switches to simply copying out
through elf_core_copy_regs() instead.

Right now, there is no notifier that is called on a new cpu, before the new
cpu begins processing interrupts/softirqs.
Various kernel function would need that notification, e.g. kvm works around
by calling smp_call_function_single(), rcu polls cpu_online_map.
The patch adds a CPU_STARTING notification. It also adds a helper function
that sends the message to all cpu_chain handlers.
Tested on x86-64.
All other archs are untested. Especially on sparc, I'm not sure if I got
it right.

All CPUs must have a sensible cpu_clk definition these days, which we can
safely use for deriving the preset loops_per_jiffy. The only odd one out
is SH-5, which hasn't been hammered in to the framework yet.

Presently this is doing a force_sig() SIGTRAP, which is already taken
care of in the generic code if no one asserts NOTIFY_STOP. Switch the
default return to NOTIFY_DONE in the case of unhandled traps, so that
the same trap may pass through to other users on the same die chain.

This fixes a problems with the set up of Linux memory:
- When reserving memory at boot time, the code previously reserved
the bottom page of memory, and then from one page up to the end of
the bootmap. This had the desired effect, but was strictly speaking
wrong, as the one page was actually whatever CONFIG_ZERO_PAGE_OFFSET
had been set to.

This fixes a problem in the code which copies the vmalloc portion of the
kernel's page table into the current user space page table. The addition
of the four level page table code breaks on folded page tables, because
the pud level is always present (although folded). This updates the code
to use the same style of updates for the pud as is used for the pgd
level.

This patch fixes a problem within the SH implementation of resume_kernel code,
that implements in assembly the bulk of preempt_schedule_irq function without
taking care of the extra code needed to handle the BKL preemptible.
The patch basically consists of removing this asm code and calling the common
C implementation (see kernel/sched.c) as other archs do.
Another change is the missing 'cli' macro invocation at the beginning of
the resume_kernel.

The crash kernel entry point is currently checked by the kexec kernel
code and only physical addresses in the reserved memory window are
accepted. This means that we can't pass P2 or P1 addresses as entry
points in the case of crash kernels. This patch makes sure we can start
crash kernels by adding support for physical address entry points.

Allow user to pass parameters on kernel command line to override
default size for physically contiguous memory buffers. The default
VPU buffer size is too small for VGA harware encoding, but instead
of just bumping up the number we allow the user to override the
default size using the command line. Supports SuperH Mobile hardware
blocks such as VEU, VPU and CEU.

Presently we oops in mm/hugetlb.c:1325, which is the order == 0 test in
hugetlb_add_hstate() called at initialization time. So, disable 64kB
huge pages when we're using a 64kB PAGE_SIZE. On most parts this will
force the default to be 1MB huge pages.

This file seems had be removed to use fallback (cpu-common/cpu/addrspace.h),
but, I'd like to add sh2a specific file here, because
1. the values defined there are not suitable for sh2a.
2. I don't think there is "common" definition for these values.
Values are chosen by consideration of followings...
P1 is 0. perhaps no question.
P2 is from hardware manual, which says no-cache area starts at 20000000.
It means that P? space size=20000000.
P3 is P2+size since asm/ptrace.h uses P3 as a end of P2.
P4 is P3+size since asm/fixup.h uses P4 as a end of P3.

SH never really supported a.out, so this was all just copied over blindly
from x86 way back when. As we don't reference linux/a.out.h anywhere in
the tree, these can now safely be killed off.

Presently the NUMA node data isn't saved on kexec. This implements a
simple arch_crash_save_vmcoreinfo() for saving off the relevant data.

SH-X2 extended mode TLB allows for toggling of the exec bit, so make
sure we are using the right protection bits for module space there
also.

Presently this was always being set to AUDIT_ARCH_SH, which assumes
big endian. Fix this up so that the architecture actually reflects

tracing to be more generic. This is an incremental step to turning
on tracehook, as well as unifying more of the ptrace and signal code
across the 32/64 split.

This converts the single stepping done by sh/sh64 ptrace implementations
to use the generic user_enable/disable_single_step(), and subsequently
rips out a lot of ptrace request cases that are now handled generically.

for both is_kdump_kernel() and vmcore to function.

Presently this is protected by a CONFIG_VSYSCALL ifdef so we don't
inadvertently trigger the creation of the gate VMA on CPUs where we don't
enable the vDSO, which is obviously not visible to userspace. Fix this up
by adding in an ifndef __KERNEL__ check at the same time.

This flattens out the board directories in to individual mach groups,
we will use this for getting rid of unneeded directories, simplifying
the build system, and becoming more coherent with the refactored
arch/sh/include topology.

When I compiled Solution Engine, this become compile error
because plaform device of sh_eth device becomes enable.
When sh7710/sh7712 which could use sh_eth was chosen,
revised it so that platform device of sh_eth device became enable.

This code makes sh7343 share the sh7722 clock code. Instead of just using
the good and very old sh7343 clock implmentation, switch to the new MSTPCR
enabled clock code. SIU clocks are disabled on sh7343 for now.
With this change all SuperH Mobile devices now use the same clock code.

Handle module stop clock bits in MSTPCRn through the clock framework.
The clocks are named after the bits in the data sheet. The association
between bit number and hardware block is processor specific.

The current kernel behaviour is to reenable interrupts unconditionally
when taking a page fault. This patch changes this to only enable them
if interrupts were previously enabled.
It also fixes a problem seen with this fix in place: the kernel previously
flushed the vsyscall page when handling a signal, which is not only
unncessary, but caused a possible sleep with interrupts disabled.

In linux-2.4, mrshpc_ss socket driver used this function.

SH7763 has 3 SCIF device. Current code supports SCIF0 and 1.
SCIF0 and 1 are same register constitution, but only SCIF2 is different.

16kB is a useful size on nommu, while 64kB still tends to be too big to
be useful. Newer MMUs are likely to support this as well, so plug it
in in anticipation of those, too.

Kmem cache passed to constructor is only needed for constructors that are
themselves multiplexeres. Nobody uses this "feature", nor does anybody uses
passed kmem cache in non-trivial way, so pass only pointer to object.

This patch provides an enhancement to kexec/kdump. It implements the
following features:
- Backup/restore memory used by the original kernel before/after
kexec.
- Save/restore CPU state before/after kexec.
The features of this patch can be used as a general method to call program in
physical mode (paging turning off). This can be used to call BIOS code under
Linux.
kexec-tools needs to be patched to support kexec jump. The patches and
the precompiled kexec can be download from the following URL:

Usage example of calling some physical mode code and return:
1. Compile and install patched kernel with following options selected:
CONFIG_X86_32=y
CONFIG_KEXEC=y
CONFIG_PM=y
CONFIG_KEXEC_JUMP=y
2. Build patched kexec-tool or download the pre-built one.
3. Build some physical mode executable named such as "phy_mode"
4. Boot kernel compiled in step 1.
5. Load physical mode executable with /sbin/kexec. The shell command
line can be as follow:
/sbin/kexec --load-preserve-context --args-none phy_mode
6. Call physical mode executable with following shell command line:
/sbin/kexec -e
Implementation point:
To support jumping without reserving memory. One shadow backup page (source
page) is allocated for each page used by kexeced code image (destination
page). When do kexec_load, the image of kexeced code is loaded into source
pages, and before executing, the destination pages and the source pages are
swapped, so the contents of destination pages are backupped. Before jumping
to the kexeced code image and after jumping back to the original kernel, the
destination pages and the source pages are swapped too.
C ABI (calling convention) is used as communication protocol between
kernel and called code.
A flag named KEXEC_PRESERVE_CONTEXT for sys_kexec_load is added to
indicate that the loaded kernel image is used for jumping back.
Now, only the i386 architecture is supported.

Inflate requires some dynamic memory allocation very early in the boot
process and this is provided with a set of four functions:
malloc/free/gzip_mark/gzip_release.
The old inflate code used a mark/release strategy rather than implement
free. This new version instead keeps a count on the number of outstanding
allocations and when it hits zero, it resets the malloc arena.
This allows removing all the mark and release implementations and unifying
all the malloc/free implementations.
The architecture-dependent code must define two addresses:
- free_mem_ptr, the address of the beginning of the area in which
allocations should be made
- free_mem_end_ptr, the address of the end of the area in which
allocations should be made. If set to 0, then no check is made on
the number of allocations, it just grows as much as needed
The architecture-dependent code can also provide an arch_decomp_wdog()
function call. This function will be called several times during the
decompression process, and allow to notify the watchdog that the system is
still running. If an architecture provides such a call, then it must
define ARCH_HAS_DECOMP_WDOG so that the generic inflate code calls
arch_decomp_wdog().

This patch introduces the new syscall pipe2 which is like pipe but it also
takes an additional parameter which takes a flag value. This patch implements
the handling of O_CLOEXEC for the flag. I did not add support for the new
syscall for the architectures which have a special sys_pipe implementation. I
think the maintainers of those archs have the chance to go with the unified
implementation but that's up to them.
The implementation introduces do_pipe_flags. I did that instead of changing
all callers of do_pipe because some of the callers are written in assembler.
I would probably screw up changing the assembly code. To avoid breaking code
do_pipe is now a small wrapper around do_pipe_flags. Once all callers are
changed over to do_pipe_flags the old do_pipe function can be removed.
The following test must be adjusted for architectures other than x86 and
x86-64 and in case the syscall numbers changed.

The goal of this patchset is to support multiple hugetlb page sizes. This
is achieved by introducing a new struct hstate structure, which
encapsulates the important hugetlb state and constants (eg. huge page
size, number of huge pages currently allocated, etc).
The hstate structure is then passed around the code which requires these
fields, they will do the right thing regardless of the exact hstate they
are operating on.
This patch adds the hstate structure, with a single global instance of it
(default_hstate), and does the basic work of converting hugetlb to use the
hstate.
Future patches will add more hstate structures to allow for different
hugetlbfs mounts to have different page sizes.

Flag platforms as HAVE_CLK (or not) in Kconfig, based on whether they
support <linux/clk.h> calls, so that otherwise portable drivers which need
those calls can list that dependency.
Something like this is a prerequisite for merging the musb_hdrc driver,
currently used on platforms including Davinci, OMAP2430, OMAP3xx ... and
the discrete TUSB6010 chip, which doesn't have a natural platform
dependency. (Used with OMAP 2420 in current Nokia N8x0 tablets.)

This allow to dynamically generate attributes and share show/store
functions between attributes. Right now most attributes are generated
by special macros and lots of duplicated code. With the attribute
passed it's instead possible to attach some data to the attribute
and then use that in shared low level functions to do different things.
I need this for the dynamically generated bank attributes in the x86
machine check code, but it'll allow some further cleanups.
I converted all users in tree to the new show/store prototype. It's a single
huge patch to avoid unbisectable sections.
Runtime tested: x86-32, x86-64
Compiled only: ia64, powerpc
Not compile tested/only grep converted: sh, arm, avr32

Jack Ren and Eric Miao tracked down the following long standing
problem in the NOHZ code:
scheduler switch to idle task
enable interrupts
Window starts here
----> interrupt happens (does not set NEED_RESCHED)
irq_exit() stops the tick
----> interrupt happens (does set NEED_RESCHED)
return from schedule()
cpu_idle(): preempt_disable();
Window ends here
The interrupts can happen at any point inside the race window. The
first interrupt stops the tick, the second one causes the scheduler to
rerun and switch away from idle again and we end up with the tick
disabled.
The fact that it needs two interrupts where the first one does not set
NEED_RESCHED and the second one does made the bug obscure and extremly
hard to reproduce and analyse. Kudos to Jack and Eric.
Solution: Limit the NOHZ functionality to the idle loop to make sure
that we can not run into such a situation ever again.

IRQ trigger type can be specified in the IRQ resource definition by
IORESOURCE_IRQ_*, we need only one way to specify this.
This also fixes the following small issue:
To allow dynamic support for multiple platforms, when those relevant
macros are not defined for one specific platform, the default case
will be:
- SMC_DYNAMIC_BUS_CONFIG defined
- and SMC_IRQ_FLAGS = IRQF_TRIGGER_RISING
While if "irq_flags" is missing when defining the smc91x_platdata,
usually as follows:

The lp->cfg.irq_flags will always be overriden by the above structure

make the only user of smc91x_platdata.irq_flags (renesas/migor) to

Kill pcibios_update_resource(), replacing it with pci_update_resource().
pci_update_resource() uses pcibios_resource_to_bus() to convert a
resource to a device BAR - the transformation should be exactly the
same as the transformation used for the PCI bridges.
pci_update_resource "knows" about 64-bit BARs, but doesn't attempt to
set the high 32-bits to anything non-zero - currently no architecture
attempts to do something different. If anyone cares, please fix; I'm
going to reflect current behaviour for the time being.
Ivan pointed out the following architectures need to examine their
pcibios_update_resource() implementation - they should make sure that
this new implementation does the right thing. #warning's have been
added where appropriate.

Presently the --fdpic specifier and the --isa matching clash when
building with FDPIC toolchains. As we have no interest in building the
kernel with --fdpic in the first place, always try to add in -mno-fdpic
to the default flags.

4k stacks on nommu ends up blowing up with all sorts of interesting

The USBF function on sh7722 is currently not working with the m66592_udc
driver. The driver is using platform_get_resource_byname() so my commit
a0d29798e5 broke sh7722 support.
The long term fix is to replace platform_get_resource_byname() in the
driver with platform_get_resource(), but this helps until that happens.

There are a few different types of debug trap exceptions, though now
that they are all going through a special jump table, the restorer needs
to be unified as well.
Presently this is falling through the ret_from_fork path, which more or
less does the right thing on SH-3/4 whilst being completely unsuitable on
MMU-less targets.
Ultimately what we want here is a branch through the platform's
restore_all directly, without worrying about the retval being clobbered.
We can accomplish that through a branch to __restore_all directly, so
switch it so we come back from the jump table and branch to the restorer.
This fixes up a recursion in the nommu WARN_ON() path, as well as some
other userspace nastiness where said recursion caused serious stack
corruption.

Currently is_valid_bugaddr() is true for anything >= PAGE_OFFSET, which
happens to be 0 on nommu configurations. Make this a bit smarter by just
reading in the opcode and comparing it against the trap type that we
already know. Follows the logic from avr32.

which happens in all paths except for syscall_badsys, where r8 was

When using initramfs on systems that don't explicitly clear LOADER_TYPE,
unpack_to_rootfs() tramples tramples the range with the defaults taken
out of .empty_zero_page. This causes kernels with valid initramfs images
to bail out with crc or gzip magic mismatch errors after the second
unpack takes place on certain platform configurations.

Add a common hex array in hexdump.c so everyone can use it.
Add a common hi/lo helper to avoid the shifting masking that is
done to get the upper and lower nibbles of a byte value.
Pull the pack_hex_byte helper from kgdb as it is opencoded many
places in the tree that will be consolidated.

Clean up the intc tables by removing unneeded #ifdefs. The vector
list is what selects which interrupt sources that should be added,
having unsupported bitfields listed is ok as long as the vector
is excluded from the list.

sources on sh3 processors. Only really required for edge triggered
interrupts, but we ack regardless of sense configuration.

This replaces the duplicated arch-specific versions of "sys_pipe()" with
one unified implementation. This removes almost 250 lines of duplicated
code.
It's marked __weak, so that *if* an architecture wants to override the
default implementation it can do so by simply having its own replacement
version, since many architectures use alternate calling conventions for
the 'pipe()' system call for legacy reasons (ie traditional UNIX
implementations often return the two file descriptors in registers)
I still haven't changed the cris version even though Linus says the BKL
isn't needed. The arch maintainer can easily do it if there are really
no obstacles.

Update most new-style i2c drivers to use standard module aliasing
instead of the old driver_name/type driver matching scheme. I've
left the video drivers apart (except for SoC camera drivers) as
they're a bit more diffcult to deal with, they'll have their own
patch later.

Almost all implementations of pci_iomap() in the kernel, including the generic
lib/iomap.c one, copies the content of a struct resource into unsigned long's
which will break on 32 bits platforms with 64 bits resources.
This fixes all definitions of pci_iomap() to use resource_size_t. I also
"fixed" the 64bits arch for consistency.

All architectures use an effectively identical definition of online_page(), so
just make it common code. x86-64, ia64, powerpc and sh are actually
identical; x86-32 is slightly different.
x86-32's differences arise because it puts its hotplug pages in the highmem
zone. We can handle this in the generic code by inspecting the page to see if
its in highmem, and update the totalhigh_pages count appropriately. This
leaves init_32.c:free_new_highpage with a single caller, so I folded it into
add_one_highpage_init.
I also removed an incorrect comment referring to the NUMA case; any NUMA
details have already been dealt with by the time online_page() is called.

We currently keep 2 lists of PCI devices in the system, one in the
driver core, and one all on its own. This second list is sorted at boot
time, in "BIOS" order, to try to remain compatible with older kernels
(2.2 and earlier days). There was also a "nosort" option to turn this
sorting off, to remain compatible with even older kernel versions, but
that just ends up being what we have been doing from 2.5 days...
Unfortunately, the second list of devices is not really ever used to
determine the probing order of PCI devices or drivers[1]. That is done
using the driver core list instead. This change happened back in the
early 2.5 days.
Relying on BIOS ording for the binding of drivers to specific device
names is problematic for many reasons, and userspace tools like udev
exist to properly name devices in a persistant manner if that is needed,
no reliance on the BIOS is needed.
Matt Domsch and others at Dell noticed this back in 2006, and added a
boot option to sort the PCI device lists (both of them) in a
breadth-first manner to help remain compatible with the 2.4 order, if
needed for any reason. This option is not going away, as some systems
rely on them.
This patch removes the sorting of the internal PCI device list in "BIOS"
mode, as it's not needed at all anymore, and hasn't for many years.
I've also removed the PCI flags for this from some other arches that for
some reason defined them, but never used them.
This should not change the ordering of any drivers or device probing.
[1] The old-style pci_get_device and pci_find_device() still used this
sorting order, but there are very few drivers that use these functions,
as they are deprecated for use in this manner. If for some reason, a
driver rely on the order and uses these functions, the breadth-first
boot option will resolve any problem.

SH7723 is the first hard silicon to implement the L2, and unsurprisingly,
does the precise inverse of what the specification alleges. XOR the
URAM/L2 size bits to get back in line with the existing parsing logic.

The SH-4A series probe we were relying on doesn't work any more on the
newer parts, bump this up to use CVR.CHIP instead so we have consistent
behaviour across all of the parts, which is what this should have been
testing in the first place.

Presently with preempt enabled there's the possibility to be preempted
after the TIF_USEDFPU test and the register save, leading to bogus
state post-__switch_to(). Use an explicit preempt_disable()/enable()
pair around unlazy_fpu()/clear_fpu() to avoid this. Follows the x86
change.

When building the kernel without passing the O= command line parameter
there's no point to use absolute paths for them.
Usually relative paths are preferred because they survive directory
moves, work across networked file systems and chrooted environments.
Absolute paths are still used if an output directory is given.

Presently the SH-2/SH-2A address error exception dispatch copies off the
register state from the stack and skips over the first register, skewing
the rest. Fix up the math here so that the proper register state is
handed down to the exception handler itself.

The only board-specific bits that existed here were for setting up the
IRQs, which are now handled by the SH7710 CPU support code instead. As
there's nothing else to do for setup, kill off the board support code
and have the defconfig use the generic machvec instead.

This header is needed on other architectures as well (namely h8300),
which currently fails to build without this in place. Rather than
duplicating the port definition completely there, just move this to a
common location instead.
This should get h8300 working again for 2.6.25, in addition to the
changes already pushed by Sato-san in -rc2.

Use generic_io_base to point out the pci io window, and make sure the
highest port address used is SH7751_PCI_IO_SIZE - 1.
This patch fixes pci io port access for the r2d boards - CONFIG_8139TOO_PIO
now works as expected. So does the alsa driver for CMI8738.

This patch makes sure ctrl_inN/outN are used instead of inN/outN for on chip
pci registers. Without this patch addresses may be adjusted using the value
in generic_io_base. This patch makes it possible to set generic_io_base and
have pci without reading and writing all over the place.

The idea is that we want to get rid of the in/out/readb/writeb callbacks from
the machvec and replace that with simple inline read and write operations to
memory. Fast and simple for most hardware devices (think pci).
Some devices require special treatment though - like 16-bit only CF devices -
so we need to have some method to hook in callbacks.
This patch makes it possible to add a per-device trap generating filter. This
way we can get maximum performance of sane hardware - which doesn't need this
filter - and crappy hardware works but gets punished by a performance hit.
V2 changes things around a bit and replaces io access callbacks with a
simple minimum_bus_width value. In the future we can add stride as well.

This patch adds byte support to the sign extension code. Unaligned access
traps should never be generated on 8-bit io operations, but we will use this
code for trapped io and we do need byte support there.

This patch adds basic support for the Migo-R board.
Only simple stuff provided by the cpu specific sh7722 code is in place now,
like serial console port, timers and usb gadget. There is also partial support
for the smc91c111 ethernet controller - unfortunately some driver header file
also needs patching (not included here) to make the driver get IRQ sense
information from the platform data.

This patch fixes the recently introduced declared coherent memory support.
Without this fix a cached memory area is returned by dma_alloc_coherent() -
unless dma_declare_coherent_memory() has setup a separate area.
This patch makes sure an uncached memory area is returned. With this patch
it is now possible to ping through an rtl8139 interface on r2d-plus.

Commit d3d74453c3 ("hrtimer: fixup the
HRTIMER_CB_IRQSAFE_NO_SOFTIRQ fallback") broke several archs, and since
only Russell bothered to merge the fix, and Greg to ACK his arch, I'm
sending this for merger.
I have confirmation that the Alpha bit results in a booting kernel.
That leaves: blackfin, frv, sh and sparc untested.
The deadlock in question was found by Russell:
IRQ handle
-> timer_tick() - xtime seqlock held for write
-> update_process_times()
-> run_local_timers()
-> hrtimer_run_queues()
-> hrtimer_get_softirq_time() - tries to get a read lock
Now, Thomas assures me the fix is trivial, only do_timer() needs to be
done under the xtime_lock, and update_process_times() can savely be
removed from under it.

To allow flexible configuration of IDE introduce HAVE_IDE.
All archs except arm, um and s390 unconditionally select it.
For arm the actual configuration determine if IDE is supported.
This is a step towards introducing drivers/Kconfig for arm.

Mark arches that support A.OUT format by including the following in their
master Kconfig files:
config ARCH_SUPPORTS_AOUT
def_bool y
This should also be set if the arch provides compatibility A.OUT support for
an older arch, for instance x86_64 for i386 or sparc64 for sparc.
I've guessed at which arches don't, based on comments in the code, however I'm
sure that some of the ones I've marked as 'yes' actually should be 'no'.

This patchset adds a flags variable to reserve_bootmem() and uses the
BOOTMEM_EXCLUSIVE flag in crashkernel reservation code to detect collisions
between crashkernel area and already used memory.
This patch:
Change the reserve_bootmem() function to accept a new flag BOOTMEM_EXCLUSIVE.
If that flag is set, the function returns with -EBUSY if the memory already
has been reserved in the past. This is to avoid conflicts.
Because that code runs before SMP initialisation, there's no race condition
inside reserve_bootmem_core().

On the per-architecture side, I do think it would be better to *not* have
internal architecture knowledge in a generic file, and as such a line like
depends on X86_32 || IA64 || PPC || S390 || SPARC64 || X86_64 || AVR32
really shouldn't exist in a file like kernel/Kconfig.instrumentation.
It would be much better to do
depends on ARCH_SUPPORTS_KPROBES
in that generic file, and then architectures that do support it would just
have a
bool ARCH_SUPPORTS_KPROBES
default y
in *their* architecture files. That would seem to be much more logical,
and is readable both for arch maintainers *and* for people who have no
clue - and don't care - about which architecture is supposed to support
which interface...

This patch adds the header file asm/spi.h and board specific code for the
r2d board. The header file contains a structure that should be used to
point out a single spi bus. The board specific code for r2d is updated with
such a structure for the new spi_sh_sci driver. The structure contains a
chip select callback plus information about the R9701 rtc chip which is
attached to the spi bus.

This patch updates the board specific irq code for r7780rp. The new code is
very similar to the other highlander implementations, with the exception that
the r7780rp handles pci interrupts using IRL. To simplify the pci code and
use the same interrupt numbers as r7780mp and r7785rp we hook in to the
cpu specific pci vectors.
The pci interrupts and the push switch all work well with and without this
patch. CF and AX88796 are not ok though and the source of the problem is
unknown at this point. The AX88796 does for not detect it's proper mac
address (IPL gets it right) and the kernel hangs on CF access. As a workaround
this patch removes the CF and the AX88796 from the platform datain case of
r7780rp.

Apart from cleaning up, this gives the dreamcast a proper memory allocator

This patch adds declared coherent memory support to the sh architecture. All
functions are based on the x86 implementation. Header files are adjusted to
use the new functions instead of the former consistent_alloc() code.

Some of Sam's new work in the kbuild queue depend on ## concatenation
within the linker script, which doesn't work when -traditional is
enabled. -traditional is a legacy remnant anyways, and we no longer
require it for anything, so kill it off completely.

This patch adds timings to drive a Sharp LQ104V1DG21 lcd panel that can
be hooked up to R2D-1 or R2D-PLUS. The sm501fb driver should leave the
pins FPEN and VBIASEN alone, and this patch instructs the driver to do
so by not setting flags flags for these pins.
This patch works best together with the patch posted to the
linux-fbdev-devel list "sm501fb: control panel pin usage with platform
data flags", but this patch can be merged independently.

This patch removes interrupt priority tables from the intc code.
Optimal priority assignment varies with embedded application anyway,
so keeping the interrupt priority tables together with cpu-specific
code doesn't make sense.
The function intc_set_priority() should be used instead to set the
desired interrupt priority level.

This patch provides a correct value for CONFIG_SH_PCLK_FREQ for the
SH7712 solution engine when used with the board's default factory
settings. This results in the board running at its maximum CPU clock
rate (200 MHz).

entries in the ELF auxvt, based on the Alpha implementation. We use
this on the userspace libc side for calculating a tightly packed
SHMLBA amongst other things.

This patch changes the uImage target so that it generates a wrapped
compressed vmlinux, rather than a wrapped zImage. The previous version
matched the ARM, this version matches the PPC. However I would question
how useful a self decompressing image is with a boot loader which does
decompression, so I think this is more useful. I also feel it matches
the descrition in the help text ("Compressed kernel image") better.

Presently most of the 29-bit physical parts do P1/P2 segmentation
with a 1:1 cached/uncached mapping, jumping between the two to
control the caching behaviour. This provides the basic infrastructure
to maintain this behaviour on 32-bit physical parts that don't map
P1/P2 at all, using a shiny new linker section and corresponding
fixmap entry.

This implements kernel-level atomic rollback built on top of gUSA,
as an alternative non-IRQ based atomicity method. This is generally
a faster method for platforms that are lacking the LL/SC pairs that
SH-4A and later use, and is only supportable on legacy cores.

Shoves a magic word in to the empty_zero_page section for the
bootloader to work out whether to start the kernel in 29-bit
or 32-bit mode.
[ Renesas CPUs already take care of the initial PMB mappings entirely
in hardware and decide on 29-bit/32-bit physical depending on which
pin powered up the CPU, so this is mostly for ST parts. -- PFM ].

This adds support for the SH7263 (SH-2A) CPU.
This particular CPU is a superset of SH7203, adding some additional
peripheral blocks and hooking up additional (reserved on SH7203)
vectors in the INTC block.
No visibly nasty surprises, yet..

This is trivial, in that they're both effectively the same for the base
relocations anyways. SH-5 doesn't need the unaligned bits, and has a

All kobjects require a dynamically allocated name now. We no longer
need to keep track if the name is statically assigned, we can just
unconditionally free() all kobject names on cleanup.

The IO access of PCI is not supported in R7780RP and the MS7780SE
board now. The support of the IO access mode of e100 and a lot of IDE
chips becomes possible by fixing the code.

This patch fixes CF support for R2D-1 boards. Both R2D-1 and
R2D-PLUS are equipped with CF IRQs, but the R2D-1 FPGA version
seem to deliver IRQ spikes with certain CF cards during libata
probing. This patch enables polling for R2D-1 as a workaround
for this broken FGPA logic.
R2D-1 CF support was recently introduced by commit:

With the refactored update_mmu_cache() introduced in older kernels,
there's no longer any need to take the page_table_lock in this path,
so simply drop it completely.
Without this, performance degradation is seen on SMP on heavily
threaded workloads that don't use the split ptlock, and ultimately
we have no reason to contend for the lock in the first place.

The __do_page_fault() fast-path contains a UTLB flush in order to
force an ITLB reload, this isn't needed in practice as the ITLB is
auto-reloaded from the UTLB anyways, which is already displaced by
the manual 'ldtlb' in the update_mmu_cache() path.
This provides a measurable speed up in the TLB miss fast-path.

This will force the snapgear boards to use the on-chip SH RTC instead,
until the rtc-ds1302 driver is merged. The current code is broken
and hasn't built in some time, so just kill it off and get the board
working again.

Now that copy_to_user_page()/copy_from_user_page() are wired up, we
can drop the old __copy_xxx() implementations. Now that the page
colouring scheme has changed via kmap_coherent(), we can avoid the
flush in these specific helpers.

The ST40 stuff in-tree hasn't built for some time, and hasn't been
updated for over 3 years. ST maintains their own out-of-tree changes
and rebases occasionally, and that's ultimately where all of the ST40
users go anyways.
In order for the ST40 code to be brought up to date most of the stuff
removed in this changeset would have to be rewritten anyways, so there's
very little benefit in keeping the remnants around either.

Currently these are only being exported for CONFIG_CPU_SH4. This
invariably breaks when building for an SH-3 that includes multiple
targets in multilib.

This was all reworked some time ago, the old debug_enter was ripped
out with everything going through a debug trap jump table instead.
Kill off the debug_enter target and reference kgdb_handle_exception
directly.

SH-4A parts generally don't have any use for this, and it requires an
alternate implementation anyways. Leave this as an SH-4 only option,
as that's the only place this has been needed in the past.

When uImage is made by using 'make uImage', zImage is used.
If zImage is used, the compression method need not be set.
However, it is set for "gzip" for a compression method.
I corrected to set "none".

R7780RP can't do byte-sized accesses to CF, so needs to do word
sized access with low-byte masking. This same problem exists
on older versions of the R2D, with the same workaround having
been implemented in 43f4b8c757
there. Follow that change for the highlander boards.
This does not impact R7780MP or SH7785 based Highlander modules.
If you're unfortunate enough to be stuck with an R7780RP, this
patch is for you!

It's assumed that .eh_frame is terminated with 4-byte 0 in shared
libraries and executable. It seems to be the case for VDSOs too.
Without this terminator, I saw failures when unwinding from VDSO,
though I don't know how other architectures handle this issue.
For the normal libs, crtendS.o gives this terminator. We can use
such terminating objects. Or we can add a 4-byte 0 with modifying
the linker script like as the patch below.

While using separate IRQ stacks can cut down on stack consumption,
many users can also use 4k stacks directly without the additional
need of separate stacks for soft and hardirqs.
With this split, we support the same rationale for 4KSTACKS as
m68knommu, with the IRQSTACKS abstraction as per ppc64.

movca.l is restricted to SH-4 and up only, though compilers that
are unable to support ISA tuning (especially older versions of
binutils) will happily compile in the bogus opcode on older parts.
Conditionalize it to fix SH-3 regressions noted by Kristoffer.

CPU_HAS_SR_RB is selected by both CPU_SH3 and CPU_SH4, so having a
dependency and default y on those additionally doesn't make much sense.
The select also has to be special cased for CPUs that don't support
this.
This is also something that has been abused too much as a result
of being user-visible, hence the addition of the select in the first
place. So just kill the user-visibility entirely while we're at it.

When the SH kernel used to support embedding a ramdisk in the
pre-initramfs days it was placed in a special section and made to
look like a regular initrd. Since that was removed ages ago, kill
off the remaining cruft that was missed.

memory_end was being clobbered by whatever the kernel config had
specified, rather than obeying the setup option. Fix this up so
that memory_end is only initialized if nothing has been set on
the command line.

Starting with binutils somewhere around 2.17.50.14 the vmlinux file
contains a ".note.gnu.build-id" section which doesn't get removed when
the zImage is built; resulting in a 2GB intermediate file and a broken
zImage.

This patch removes the crashkernel parsing from arch/sh/kernel/machine_kexec.c
and calls the generic function, introduced in the generic patch, in
setup_bootmem_allocator().
This is necessary because the amount of System RAM must be known in this
function now because of the new syntax.

One of the easiest things to isolate is the pid printed in kernel log.
There was a patch, that made this for arch-independent code, this one makes
so for arch/xxx files.
It took some time to cross-compile it, but hopefully these are all the
printks in arch code.

is_init() is an ambiguous name for the pid==1 check. Split it into
is_global_init() and is_container_init().
A cgroup init has it's tsk->pid == 1.
A global init also has it's tsk->pid == 1 and it's active pid namespace
is the init_pid_ns. But rather than check the active pid namespace,
compare the task structure with 'init_pid_ns.child_reaper', which is
initialized during boot to the /sbin/init process and never changes.

global init (/sbin/init) process. This would improve performance
and remove dependence on the task_pid().

The name of 'struct pm_ops' suggests that it is related to the power
management in general, but in fact it is only related to suspend. Moreover,
its name should indicate what this structure is used for, so it seems
reasonable to change it to 'struct platform_suspend_ops'. In that case, the
name of the global variable of this type used by the PM core and the names of
related functions should be changed accordingly.

dma_cache_(wback|inv|wback_inv) were the earliest attempt on a generalized
cache managment API for I/O purposes. Originally it was basically the raw
MIPS low level cache API exported to the entire world. The API has
suffered from a lack of documentation, was not very widely used unlike it's
more modern brothers and can easily be replaced by dma_cache_sync. So
remove it rsp. turn the surviving bits back into an arch private API, as
discussed on linux-arch.

Slab constructors currently have a flags parameter that is never used. And
the order of the arguments is opposite to other slab functions. The object
pointer is placed before the kmem_cache pointer.

Fix up conflicts in arch/um/sys-{x86_64,i386}/Makefile manually.
This cleans up the formatting in the vDSO linker script, mostly just the
use of whitespace. It's intended to approximate the kernel standard
conventions for indenting C, treating elements of the linker script about
like initialized variable definitions.

Now, arch dependent code around CONFIG_MEMORY_HOTREMOVE is a mess.
This patch cleans up them. This is against 2.6.23-rc6-mm1.
- fix compile failure on ia64/ CONFIG_MEMORY_HOTPLUG && !CONFIG_MEMORY_HOTREMOVE case.
- For !CONFIG_MEMORY_HOTREMOVE, add generic no-op remove_memory(),
which returns -EINVAL.
- removed remove_pages() only used in powerpc.
- removed no-op remove_memory() in i386, sh, sparc64, x86_64.
- only powerpc returns -ENOSYS at memory hot remove(no-op). changes it
to return -EINVAL.
Note:
Currently, only ia64 supports CONFIG_MEMORY_HOTREMOVE. I welcome other
archs if there are requirements and testers.

We have had complaints where a threaded application is left in a bad state
after one of it's threads is killed when we hit a VM: out_of_memory
condition.
Killing just one of the process threads can leave the application in a bad
state, whereas killing the entire process group would allow for the
application to restart, or be otherwise handled, and makes it very obvious
that something has gone wrong.
This change allows the entire process group to be taken down, rather
than just the one thread.

The variable AFLAGS is a wellknown variable and the usage by
kbuild may result in unexpected behaviour.
On top of that several people over time has asked for a way to
pass in additional flags to gcc.
This patch replace use of AFLAGS with KBUILD_AFLAGS all over
the tree.
Patch was tested on following architectures:
alpha, arm, i386, x86_64, mips, sparc, sparc64, ia64, m68k, s390

The variable CFLAGS is a wellknown variable and the usage by
kbuild may result in unexpected behaviour.
On top of that several people over time has asked for a way to
pass in additional flags to gcc.
This patch replace use of CFLAGS with KBUILD_CFLAGS all over the
tree and enabling one to use:
make CFLAGS=...
to specify additional gcc commandline options.
One usecase is when trying to find gcc bugs but other
use cases has been requested too.
Patch was tested on following architectures:
alpha, arm, i386, x86_64, mips, sparc, sparc64, ia64, m68k
Test was simple to do a defconfig build, apply the patch and check
that nothing got rebuild.

With the PERCPU() macro introduction .data.cacheline_aligned was
inhereting PAGE_SIZE alignment, fix that up for L1_CACHE_BYTES
again. Likewise, the initramfs section wants PAGE_SIZE alignment.

At some point way back when (2.5 or so) quite a few syscalls hadn't
yet been wired up as cond_syscalls(), so we opted to just do direct
sys_ni_syscall wrapping in the assembly code instead. That's all
been fixed up since then, so we can drop the wrapping.

kgdb had its own ranged I-cache flushing routine that attempted to
duplicate the flush_icache_range() functionality, but managed to do
an explicit D-cache writeback & invalidate twice on SH-4. This is
a no-op for SH-3, and the flush_icache_range() semantics already do
what kgdb was feebly attempting to do already, so just move over to
that and kill off the wrapper.

The kgdb console setup was callable from a left-over deferred
initialization path, which in turn depends on __init symbols. Since
the deferred initialization was removed some time ago, kill off the
rest of those remnants and move kgdb_init() and friends to __init.

setup_early_printk() can be static, and with that, we can kill off
the early initialization variable and move the CON_BOOT check in
to the function body.

This conditionalizes gUSA support. gUSA is not supported on
SMP configurations, and it's not necessary there anyways due
to having other atomicity options (ie, movli.l/movco.l).
Anything implementing the LL/SC semantics (all SH-4A CPUs)
can switch to userspace atomicity implementations without
requiring gUSA. This is left default-enabled on all UP so
that glibc doesn't break.
Those that know what they are doing can disable this explicitly.

Currently gUSA toggles hardirqs to disable preemption in the signal
handler. Make the preemption toggling explicit, and kill off some
CONFIG_PREEMPT ifdefs in the process.

This implements a fast-path for small (less than 12 bytes) copies,
with the existing path treated as the slow-path and left as the default
behaviour for all other copy sizes.

Not all of the SH-X2 URAM blocks are mapped in the same place,
SH7785 happens to map it on the opposite end of the address space
from SH7722, correct the addresses.

This moves off of smp_processor_id() and only sets the probe
information for the boot CPU directly. This will be copied out
for the secondaries, so there's no reason to do this each time.
This also allows for some header tidying.

When using URAM in NUMA mode another active region is needed.
Bump this up so we don't trigger the region truncation in
add_active_range().

4kB pages are unstable on extended mode TLB, it's recommended
that TLB compat mode be used when using a 4kB PAGE_SIZE. Set
the default for extended mode to 8kB.
This should have negligible impact, as other than the extra swap
cache entry bits, there's no reason to use the extended mode TLB
with 4kB pages.

The probing logic works for both URAM and L2, with no way to
distinguish between the two. Disable the probing for now and
let the CPU subtypes that have this in a real L2 configuration
explicitly say so.

Calculate the number of cache aliases on probed L2 caches, and while
we're at it, print out the detected statistics at boot time for these
also.

We stopped referencing these functions unconditionally when the
old entry.S code was refactored, so this is just dead code at
present. Kill it off.

There was an off-by-1 on the cache alias detection logic on SH-4,
which caused n_aliases to always be 1 even when the page size
precluded the existence of aliases.
With this corrected, 64KB pages happily reports n_aliases == 0, and
hits the appropriate fast paths in the flushing routines.

This adds basic support for SH-X3 SMP (4 CPUs).
More IPI and cache debugging is necessary, mostly interfacing the
d-cache coherency and the I-cache broadcast invalidates. Only for
testing at present!

There was a very preliminary bunch of SMP code scattered around for the
SH7604 microcontrollers from way back when, and it has mostly suffered
bitrot since then. With the tree already having been slowly getting
prepped for SMP, this plugs in most of the remaining platform-independent
bits.

This implements initial support for the SMP INTC (particularly
INTC2) controllers.
These are largely implemented as conventional blocks, with
register sets grouped together at fixed strides relative to
the CPU id.

current_cpu_data uses smp_processor_id() in order to find the
corresponding cpu_data. As the cache descs are all currently
identical, just have this look at probed results from the boot
CPU.

This consolidates the cpu_data definitions and gets rid of the special
boot_cpu_data. It's made a wrapper to the boot CPU, in order to keep
the existing in-tree users happy.

The Maple bus is SEGA's proprietary serial bus for peripherals
(keyboard, mouse, controller etc). The bus is capable of some
(limited) hotplugging and operates at up to 2 M/bits.
Drivers of one sort or another existed/exist for 2.4 and a rudimentary
port, which didn't support the 2.6 device driver model was also in
existence.
This driver - for the bus logic itself and for the keyboard (other
drivers will follow) are based on the code and concepts of those old
drivers but have lots of completely rewritten parts.
I have the maple bus code as a built in now as that seems the sane and
rational way to handle something like that - you either want the bus
or you don't.

The extended mode TLB requires both 64-bit PTEs and a 64-bit pgprot,
correspondingly, the PGD also has to be 64-bits, so fix that up.
The kernel and user permission bits really are decoupled in early
cuts of the silicon, which means that we also have to set corresponding
kernel permissions on user pages or we end up with user pages that the
kernel simply can't touch (!).
Finally, with those things corrected, really enable MMUCR.ME and
correct the PTEA value (this simply needs to be the upper 32-bits
of the PTE, with the size and protection bit encoding).

This fixes up the port calculation logic for non-SuperIO accesses,
before these were always matching the MRSHPC base, now just make
sure the original port is handed back if it's not in the I/O port
range.

Most boards use 8 or 16-bit access for the LED bank, se7206
needs 32. There's only 8 individual LEDs however, each with
a 'special' value in terms of logical ordering. Go FPGA, go!

The port routines were logically inverted, and the MRSHPC range had
no upper bound, causing 8 and 16-bit port I/O to get mangled.
