7cb4150034 Fonts: Make font size unsigned in font_desc
`width` and `height` are defined as unsigned in our UAPI font descriptor
`struct console_font`. Make them unsigned in our kernel font descriptor
`struct font_desc`, too.

Also, change the corresponding printk() format identifiers from `%d` to
`%u`, in sti_select_fbfont().

Remove 6 unused extern variables to reduce confusion. It is worth
mentioning that lib/fonts/font_8x8.c and lib/fonts/font_8x16.c also

ed8780e3f2 A couple of x86 fixes which missed rc1 due to my stupidity:
- Drop lazy TLB mode before switching to the temporary address space for
text patching. text_poke() switches to the temporary mm which clears
the lazy mode and restores the original mm afterwards. Due to clearing
lazy mode this might restore a already dead mm if exit_mmap() runs in
     parallel on another CPU.

   - Document the x32 syscall design fail vs. syscall numbers 512-547
     properly.

   - Fix the ORC unwinder to handle the inactive task frame correctly. This
was unearthed due to the slightly different code generation of GCC10.

   - Use an up to date screen_info for the boot params of kexec instead of
the possibly stale and invalid version which happened to be valid when
     the kexec kernel was loaded.

e731f3146f ARM: SoC platform updates
SoC changes, a substantial part of this is cleanup of some of the older
platforms that used to have a bunch of board files. In particular:

  - Removal of non-DT i.MX platforms that haven't seen activity in years,
    it's time to remove them.
  - A bunch of cleanup and removal of platform data for TI/OMAP platforms,
moving over to genpd for power/reset control (yay!)
  - Major cleanup of Samsung S3C24xx and S3C64xx platforms, moving them
closer to multiplatform support (not quite there yet, but getting
    close).

THere are a few other changes too, smaller fixlets, etc. For new
platform support, the primary ones re:

  - New SoC: Hisilicon SD5203, ARM926EJ-S platform.
  - Cpufreq support for i.MX7ULP

cc07057c7c video: fbdev: fix divide error in fbcon_switch
This patch fixes the issue due to:

[ 89.572883] divide_error: 0000 [#1] SMP KASAN PTI
[ 89.572897] CPU: 3 PID: 16083 Comm: repro Not tainted 5.9.0-rc7.20200930.rc1.allarch-19-g3e32d0d.syzk #5
[ 89.572902] Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS 0.5.1 01/01/2011
[ 89.572934] RIP: 0010:cirrusfb_check_var+0x84/0x1260

The error happens when the pixels value is calculated before performing the sanity checks on bits_per_pixel.
A bits_per_pixel set to zero causes divide by zero error.

This patch moves the calculation after the sanity check.

7ff3f14ddc parisc/sticon: Add user font support
This is a major rework of the sticon (parisc text console) driver in
order to support user font support.

Usually one want to use the stifb (parisc framebuffer driver) which is
based on fbcon and does support fonts and colors, but some old machines
(e.g. HP 730 workstations) don't provide a supported stifb graphic card,
and for those user fonts are preferred.

This patch drops unused code for software cursor and scrollback,
enhances the debug output and adds better documentation.

The code was tested on various machines with byte-mode and word-mode
graphic cards on GSC- and PCI-busses.

3cb73bc3fa hyperv_fb: Update screen_info after removing old framebuffer
On gen2 HyperV VM, hyperv_fb will remove the old framebuffer, and the
new allocated framebuffer address could be at a differnt location,
and it might be no longer a VGA framebuffer.

Update screen_info so that after kexec the kernel won't try to reuse
the old invalid/stale framebuffer address as VGA, corrupting memory.

112c35237c Partially revert "video: fbdev: amba-clcd: Retire elder CLCD driver"
Also partially revert the follow-up change "drm: pl111: Absorb the
external register header".

This reverts the parts of commits
7e4e589db7 and
0fb8125635 that touch paths outside
of drivers/gpu/drm/pl111.

The fbdev driver is used by Android's FVP configuration. Using the
DRM driver together with DRM's fbdev emulation results in a failure
to boot Android. The root cause is that Android's generic fbdev
userspace driver relies on the ability to set the pixel format via
FBIOPUT_VSCREENINFO, which is not supported by fbdev emulation.

There have been other less critical behavioral differences identified
between the fbdev driver and the DRM driver with fbdev emulation. The
DRM driver exposes different values for the panel's width, height and
refresh rate, and the DRM driver fails a FBIOPUT_VSCREENINFO syscall
with yres_virtual greater than the maximum supported value instead
of letting the syscall succeed and setting yres_virtual based on yres.

Peilin Ye
5af0864079 fbcon: Fix global-out-of-bounds read in fbcon_get_font()
fbcon_get_font() is reading out-of-bounds. A malicious user may resize
`vc->vc_font.height` to a large value, causing fbcon_get_font() to
read out of `fontdata`.

fbcon_get_font() handles both built-in and user-provided fonts.
Fortunately, recently we have added FONT_EXTRA_WORDS support for built-in
fonts, so fix it by adding range checks using FNTSIZE().

This patch depends on patch "fbdev, newport_con: Move FONT_EXTRA_WORDS
macros into linux/font.h", and patch "Fonts: Support FONT_EXTRA_WORDS
macros for built-in fonts".

bb0890b4cd fbdev, newport_con: Move FONT_EXTRA_WORDS macros into linux/font.h
drivers/video/console/newport_con.c is borrowing FONT_EXTRA_WORDS macros
from drivers/video/fbdev/core/fbcon.h. To keep things simple, move all
definitions into <linux/font.h>.

Since newport_con now uses four extra words, initialize the fourth word in
newport_set_font() properly.

The changes made in below mentioned commit removed CONFIG_PM containers

ec0972adec fbcon: Fix user font detection test at fbcon_resize().
syzbot is reporting OOB read at fbcon_resize() [1], for
commit 39b3cffb8c ("fbcon: prevent user font height or width change
from causing potential out-of-bounds access") is by error using
registered_fb[con2fb_map[vc->vc_num]]->fbcon_par->p->userfont (which was
set to non-zero) instead of fb_display[vc->vc_num].userfont (which remains
zero for that display).

We could remove tricky userfont flag [2], for we can determine it by
comparing address of the font data and addresses of built-in font data.
But since that commit is failing to fix the original OOB read [3], this
patch keeps the change minimal in case we decide to revert altogether.

973c096f6a vgacon: remove software scrollback support
Yunhai Zhang recently fixed a VGA software scrollback bug in commit
ebfdfeeae8 ("vgacon: Fix for missing check in scrollback handling"),
but that then made people look more closely at some of this code, and
there were more problems on the vgacon side, but also the fbcon software
scrollback.

We don't really have anybody who maintains this code - probably because
nobody actually _uses_ it any more. Sure, people still use both VGA and
the framebuffer consoles, but they are no longer the main user
interfaces to the kernel, and haven't been for decades, so these kinds
of extra features end up bitrotting and not really being used.

So rather than try to maintain a likely unused set of code, I'll just
aggressively remove it, and see if anybody even notices. Maybe there
are people who haven't jumped on the whole GUI badnwagon yet, and think
it's just a fad. And maybe those people use the scrollback code.

If that turns out to be the case, we can resurrect this again, once
we've found the sucker^Wmaintainer for it who actually uses it.

50145474f6 fbcon: remove soft scrollback code
This (and the VGA soft scrollback) turns out to have various nasty small
special cases that nobody really is willing to fight. The soft
scrollback code was really useful a few decades ago when you typically
used the console interactively as the main way to interact with the
machine, but that just isn't the case any more.

So it's not worth dragging along.
