a1ef195996 bpf: Teach verifier about kptr_get kfunc helpers
We introduce a new style of kfunc helpers, namely *_kptr_get, where they
take pointer to the map value which points to a referenced kernel
pointer contained in the map. Since this is referenced, only
bpf_kptr_xchg from BPF side and xchg from kernel side is allowed to
change the current value, and each pointer that resides in that location
would be referenced, and RCU protected (this must be kept in mind while
adding kernel types embeddable as reference kptr in BPF maps).

This means that if do the load of the pointer value in an RCU read
section, and find a live pointer, then as long as we hold RCU read lock,
it won't be freed by a parallel xchg + release operation. This allows us
to implement a safe refcount increment scheme. Hence, enforce that first
argument of all such kfunc is a proper PTR_TO_MAP_VALUE pointing at the
right offset to referenced pointer.

For the rest of the arguments, they are subjected to typical kfunc
argument checks, hence allowing some flexibility in passing more intent
into how the reference should be taken.

For instance, in case of struct nf_conn, it is not freed until RCU grace
period ends, but can still be reused for another tuple once refcount has
dropped to zero. Hence, a bpf_ct_kptr_get helper not only needs to call
refcount_inc_not_zero, but also do a tuple match after incrementing the
reference, and when it fails to match it, put the reference again and
return NULL.

This can be implemented easily if we allow passing additional parameters
to the bpf_ct_kptr_get kfunc, like a struct bpf_sock_tuple * and a
tuple__sz pair.

14a324f6a6 bpf: Wire up freeing of referenced kptr
A destructor kfunc can be defined as void func(type *), where type may
be void or any other pointer type as per convenience.

In this patch, we ensure that the type is sane and capture the function
pointer into off_desc of ptr_off_tab for the specific pointer offset,
with the invariant that the dtor pointer is always set when 'kptr_ref'
tag is applied to the pointer's pointee type, which is indicated by the
flag BPF_MAP_VALUE_OFF_F_REF.

Note that only BTF IDs whose destructor kfunc is registered, thus become
the allowed BTF IDs for embedding as referenced kptr. Hence it serves
the purpose of finding dtor kfunc BTF ID, as well acting as a check
against the whitelist of allowed BTF IDs for this purpose.

Finally, wire up the actual freeing of the referenced pointer if any at
all available offsets, so that no references are leaked after the BPF
map goes away and the BPF program previously moved the ownership a
referenced pointer into it.

The behavior is similar to BPF timers, where bpf_map_{update,delete}_elem
will free any existing referenced kptr. The same case is with LRU map's
bpf_lru_push_free/htab_lru_push_free functions, which are extended to
reset unreferenced and free referenced kptr.

Note that unlike BPF timers, kptr is not reset or freed when map uref
drops to zero.

5ce937d613 bpf: Populate pairs of btf_id and destructor kfunc in btf
To support storing referenced PTR_TO_BTF_ID in maps, we require
associating a specific BTF ID with a 'destructor' kfunc. This is because
we need to release a live referenced pointer at a certain offset in map
value from the map destruction path, otherwise we end up leaking
resources.

Hence, introduce support for passing an array of btf_id, kfunc_btf_id
pairs that denote a BTF ID and its associated release function. Then,
add an accessor 'btf_find_dtor_kfunc' which can be used to look up the
destructor kfunc of a certain BTF ID. If found, we can use it to free
the object from the map free path.

The registration of these pairs also serve as a whitelist of structures
which are allowed as referenced PTR_TO_BTF_ID in a BPF map, because
without finding the destructor kfunc, we will bail and return an error.

4d7d7f69f4 bpf: Adapt copy_map_value for multiple offset case
Since now there might be at most 10 offsets that need handling in
copy_map_value, the manual shuffling and special case is no longer going
to work. Hence, let's generalise the copy_map_value function by using
a sorted array of offsets to skip regions that must be avoided while
copying into and out of a map value.

When the map is created, we populate the offset array in struct map,
Then, copy_map_value uses this sorted offset array is used to memcpy
while skipping timer, spin lock, and kptr. The array is allocated as
in most cases none of these special fields would be present in map
value, hence we can save on space for the common case by not embedding
the entire object inside bpf_map struct.

6efe152d40 bpf: Prevent escaping of kptr loaded from maps
While we can guarantee that even for unreferenced kptr, the object
pointer points to being freed etc. can be handled by the verifier's
exception handling (normal load patching to PROBE_MEM loads), we still
cannot allow the user to pass these pointers to BPF helpers and kfunc,
because the same exception handling won't be done for accesses inside
the kernel. The same is true if a referenced pointer is loaded using
normal load instruction. Since the reference is not guaranteed to be
held while the pointer is used, it must be marked as untrusted.

Hence introduce a new type flag, PTR_UNTRUSTED, which is used to mark
all registers loading unreferenced and referenced kptr from BPF maps,
and ensure they can never escape the BPF program and into the kernel by
way of calling stable/unstable helpers.

In check_ptr_to_btf_access, the !type_may_be_null check to reject type
flags is still correct, as apart from PTR_MAYBE_NULL, only MEM_USER,
MEM_PERCPU, and PTR_UNTRUSTED may be set for PTR_TO_BTF_ID. The first
two are checked inside the function and rejected using a proper error
message, but we still want to allow dereference of untrusted case.

Also, we make sure to inherit PTR_UNTRUSTED when chain of pointers are
walked, so that this flag is never dropped once it has been set on a
PTR_TO_BTF_ID (i.e. trusted to untrusted transition can only be in one
direction).

In convert_ctx_accesses, extend the switch case to consider untrusted
PTR_TO_BTF_ID in addition to normal PTR_TO_BTF_ID for PROBE_MEM
conversion for BPF_LDX.

c0a5a21c25 bpf: Allow storing referenced kptr in map
Extending the code in previous commits, introduce referenced kptr
support, which needs to be tagged using 'kptr_ref' tag instead. Unlike
unreferenced kptr, referenced kptr have a lot more restrictions. In
addition to the type matching, only a newly introduced bpf_kptr_xchg
helper is allowed to modify the map value at that offset. This transfers
the referenced pointer being stored into the map, releasing the
references state for the program, and returning the old value and
creating new reference state for the returned pointer.

Similar to unreferenced pointer case, return value for this case will
also be PTR_TO_BTF_ID_OR_NULL. The reference for the returned pointer
must either be eventually released by calling the corresponding release
function, otherwise it must be transferred into another map.

It is also allowed to call bpf_kptr_xchg with a NULL pointer, to clear
the value, and obtain the old value if any.

BPF_LDX, BPF_STX, and BPF_ST cannot access referenced kptr. A future
commit will permit using BPF_LDX for such pointers, but attempt at
making it safe, since the lifetime of object won't be guaranteed.

There are valid reasons to enforce the restriction of permitting only
bpf_kptr_xchg to operate on referenced kptr. The pointer value must be
consistent in face of concurrent modification, and any prior values
contained in the map must also be released before a new one is moved
into the map. To ensure proper transfer of this ownership, bpf_kptr_xchg
returns the old value, which the verifier would require the user to
either free or move into another map, and releases the reference held
for the pointer being moved in.

In the future, direct BPF_XCHG instruction may also be permitted to work
like bpf_kptr_xchg helper.

Note that process_kptr_func doesn't have to call
check_helper_mem_access, since we already disallow rdonly/wronly flags
for map, which is what check_map_access_type checks, and we already
ensure the PTR_TO_MAP_VALUE refers to kptr by obtaining its off_desc,
so check_map_access is also not required.

8f14852e89 bpf: Tag argument to be released in bpf_func_proto
Add a new type flag for bpf_arg_type that when set tells verifier that
for a release function, that argument's register will be the one for
which meta.ref_obj_id will be set, and which will then be released
using release_reference. To capture the regno, introduce a new field
release_regno in bpf_call_arg_meta.

This would be required in the next patch, where we may either pass NULL
or a refcounted pointer as an argument to the release function
bpf_kptr_xchg. Just releasing only when meta.ref_obj_id is set is not
enough, as there is a case where the type of argument needed matches,
but the ref_obj_id is set to 0. Hence, we must enforce that whenever
meta.ref_obj_id is zero, the register that is to be released can only
be NULL for a release function.

Since we now indicate whether an argument is to be released in
bpf_func_proto itself, is_release_function helper has lost its utitlity,
hence refactor code to work without it, and just rely on
meta.release_regno to know when to release state for a ref_obj_id.
Still, the restriction of one release argument and only one ref_obj_id
passed to BPF helper or kfunc remains. This may be lifted in the future.

61df10c779 bpf: Allow storing unreferenced kptr in map
This commit introduces a new pointer type 'kptr' which can be embedded
in a map value to hold a PTR_TO_BTF_ID stored by a BPF program during
its invocation. When storing such a kptr, BPF program's PTR_TO_BTF_ID
register must have the same type as in the map value's BTF, and loading
a kptr marks the destination register as PTR_TO_BTF_ID with the correct
kernel BTF and BTF ID.

Such kptr are unreferenced, i.e. by the time another invocation of the
BPF program loads this pointer, the object which the pointer points to
may not longer exist. Since PTR_TO_BTF_ID loads (using BPF_LDX) are
patched to PROBE_MEM loads by the verifier, it would safe to allow user
to still access such invalid pointer, but passing such pointers into
BPF helpers and kfuncs should not be permitted. A future patch in this
series will close this gap.

The flexibility offered by allowing programs to dereference such invalid
pointers while being safe at runtime frees the verifier from doing
complex lifetime tracking. As long as the user may ensure that the
object remains valid, it can ensure data read by it from the kernel
object is valid.

The user indicates that a certain pointer must be treated as kptr
capable of accepting stores of PTR_TO_BTF_ID of a certain type, by using
a BTF type tag 'kptr' on the pointed to type of the pointer. Then, this
information is recorded in the object BTF which will be passed into the
kernel by way of map's BTF information. The name and kind from the map
value BTF is used to look up the in-kernel type, and the actual BTF and
BTF ID is recorded in the map struct in a new kptr_off_tab member. For
now, only storing pointers to structs is permitted.

An example of this specification is shown below:

Then, in a BPF program, user may store PTR_TO_BTF_ID with the type
task_struct into the map, and then load it later.

Note that the destination register is marked PTR_TO_BTF_ID_OR_NULL, as
the verifier cannot know whether the value is NULL or not statically, it
must treat all potential loads at that map value offset as loading a
possibly NULL pointer.

Only BPF_LDX, BPF_STX, and BPF_ST (with insn->imm = 0 to denote NULL)
are allowed instructions that can access such a pointer. On BPF_LDX, the
destination register is updated to be a PTR_TO_BTF_ID, and on BPF_STX,
it is checked whether the source register type is a PTR_TO_BTF_ID with
same BTF type as specified in the map BTF. The access size must always
be BPF_DW.

For the map in map support, the kptr_off_tab for outer map is copied
from the inner map's kptr_off_tab. It was chosen to do a deep copy
instead of introducing a refcount to kptr_off_tab, because the copy only
needs to be done when paramterizing using inner_map_fd in the map in map
case, hence would be unnecessary for all other users.

It is not permitted to use MAP_FREEZE command and mmap for BPF map
having kptrs, similar to the bpf_timer case. A kptr also requires that
BPF program has both read and write access to the map (hence both
BPF_F_RDONLY_PROG and BPF_F_WRONLY_PROG are disallowed).

Note that check_map_access must be called from both
check_helper_mem_access and for the BPF instructions, hence the kptr
check must distinguish between ACCESS_DIRECT and ACCESS_HELPER, and
reject ACCESS_HELPER cases. We rename stack_access_src to bpf_access_src
and reuse it for this purpose.

d9d31cf887 bpf: Use bpf_prog_run_array_cg_flags everywhere
Rename bpf_prog_run_array_cg_flags to bpf_prog_run_array_cg and
use it everywhere. check_return_code already enforces sane
return ranges for all cgroup types. (only egress and bind hooks have
uncanonical return ranges, the rest is using [0, 1])

No functional changes.

df86ca0d2f bpf: Allow attach TRACING programs through LINK_CREATE command
Allow attaching BTF-aware TRACING programs, previously attachable only
through BPF_RAW_TRACEPOINT_OPEN command, through LINK_CREATE command:

  - BTF-aware raw tracepoints (tp_btf in libbpf lingo);
  - fentry/fexit/fmod_ret programs;
  - BPF LSM programs.

This change converges all bpf_link-based attachments under LINK_CREATE
command allowing to further extend the API with features like BPF cookie
under "multiplexed" link_create section of bpf_attr.

Non-BTF-aware raw tracepoints are left under BPF_RAW_TRACEPOINT_OPEN,
but there is nothing preventing opening them up to LINK_CREATE as well.

42ba130807 bpf: Make btf_find_field more generic
Next commit introduces field type 'kptr' whose kind will not be struct,
but pointer, and it will not be limited to one offset, but multiple
ones. Make existing btf_find_struct_field and btf_find_datasec_var
functions amenable to use for finding kptrs in map value, by moving
spin_lock and timer specific checks into their own function.

The alignment, and name are checked before the function is called, so it
is the last point where we can skip field or return an error before the
next loop iteration happens. Size of the field and type is meant to be
checked inside the function.

835f14ed53 rcu: Make the TASKS_RCU Kconfig option be selected
Currently, any kernel built with CONFIG_PREEMPTION=y also gets
CONFIG_TASKS_RCU=y, which is not helpful to people trying to build
preemptible kernels of minimal size.

Because CONFIG_TASKS_RCU=y is needed only in kernels doing tracing of
one form or another, this commit moves from TASKS_RCU deciding when it
should be enabled to the tracing Kconfig options explicitly selecting it.
This allows building preemptible kernels without TASKS_RCU, if desired.

This commit also updates the SRCU-N and TREE09 rcutorture scenarios
in order to avoid Kconfig errors that would otherwise result from
CONFIG_TASKS_RCU being selected without its CONFIG_RCU_EXPERT dependency
being met.

dcf456c9a0 bpf: Fix usage of trace RCU in local storage.
bpf_{sk,task,inode}_storage_free() do not need to use
call_rcu_tasks_trace as no BPF program should be accessing the owner
as it's being destroyed. The only other reader at this point is
bpf_local_storage_map_free() which uses normal RCU.

The only path that needs trace RCU are:

* bpf_local_storage_{delete,update} helpers
* map_{delete,update}_elem() syscalls

eb596b0905 bpf: Ensure type tags precede modifiers in BTF
It is guaranteed that for modifiers, clang always places type tags
before other modifiers, and then the base type. We would like to rely on
this guarantee inside the kernel to make it simple to parse type tags
from BTF.

However, a user would be allowed to construct a BTF without such
guarantees. Hence, add a pass to check that in modifier chains, type
tags only occur at the head of the chain, and then don't occur later in
the chain.

If we see a type tag, we can have one or more type tags preceding other
modifiers that then never have another type tag. If we see other
modifiers, all modifiers following them should never be a type tag.

Instead of having to walk chains we verified previously, we can remember
the last good modifier type ID which headed a good chain. At that point,
we must have verified all other chains headed by type IDs less than it.
This makes the verification process less costly, and it becomes a simple
O(n) pass.

055eb95533 bpf: Move rcu lock management out of BPF_PROG_RUN routines
Commit 7d08c2c911 ("bpf: Refactor BPF_PROG_RUN_ARRAY family of macros
into functions") switched a bunch of BPF_PROG_RUN macros to inline
routines. This changed the semantic a bit. Due to arguments expansion
of macros, it used to be:

	rcu_read_lock();
	array = rcu_dereference(cgrp->bpf.effective[atype]);
	...

Now, with with inline routines, we have:
	array_rcu = rcu_dereference(cgrp->bpf.effective[atype]);
	/* array_rcu can be kfree'd here */
	rcu_read_lock();
	array = rcu_dereference(array_rcu);

I'm assuming in practice rcu subsystem isn't fast enough to trigger
this but let's use rcu API properly.

Also, rename to lower caps to not confuse with macros. Additionally,
drop and expand BPF_PROG_CGROUP_INET_EGRESS_RUN_ARRAY.

2900005ea2 bpf: Move BPF sysctls from kernel/sysctl.c to BPF core
We're moving sysctls out of kernel/sysctl.c as it is a mess. We
already moved all filesystem sysctls out. And with time the goal
is to move all sysctls out to their own subsystem/actual user.

kernel/sysctl.c has grown to an insane mess and its easy to run
into conflicts with it. The effort to move them out into various
subsystems is part of this.

b45043192b bpf: Fix excessive memory allocation in stack_map_alloc()
The 'n_buckets * (value_size + sizeof(struct stack_map_bucket))' part of the
allocated memory for 'smap' is never used after the memlock accounting was
removed, thus get rid of it.

Commit b936ca643a ("bpf: rework memlock-based memory accounting for maps")
moved `cost += n_buckets * (value_size + sizeof(struct stack_map_bucket))`
up and therefore before the bpf_map_area_alloc() allocation, sigh. In a later
step commit c85d69135a ("bpf: move memory size checks to bpf_map_charge_init()"),
and the overflow checks of `cost >= U32_MAX - PAGE_SIZE` moved into
bpf_map_charge_init(). And then 370868107b ("bpf: Eliminate rlimit-based
memory accounting for stackmap maps") finally removed the bpf_map_charge_init().
Anyway, the original code did the allocation same way as /after/ this fix. ]

97e6d7dab1 bpf: Check PTR_TO_MEM | MEM_RDONLY in check_helper_mem_access
The commit being fixed was aiming to disallow users from incorrectly
obtaining writable pointer to memory that is only meant to be read. This
is enforced now using a MEM_RDONLY flag.

For instance, in case of global percpu variables, when the BTF type is
not struct (e.g. bpf_prog_active), the verifier marks register type as
PTR_TO_MEM | MEM_RDONLY from bpf_this_cpu_ptr or bpf_per_cpu_ptr
helpers. However, when passing such pointer to kfunc, global funcs, or
BPF helpers, in check_helper_mem_access, there is no expectation
MEM_RDONLY flag will be set, hence it is checked as pointer to writable
memory. Later, verifier sets up argument type of global func as
PTR_TO_MEM | PTR_MAYBE_NULL, so user can use a global func to get around
the limitations imposed by this flag.

This check will also cover global non-percpu variables that may be
introduced in kernel BTF in future.

Also, we update the log message for PTR_TO_BUF case to be similar to
PTR_TO_MEM case, so that the reason for error is clear to user.

be77354a3d bpf: Do write access check for kfunc and global func
When passing pointer to some map value to kfunc or global func, in
verifier we are passing meta as NULL to various functions, which uses
meta->raw_mode to check whether memory is being written to. Since some
kfunc or global funcs may also write to memory pointers they receive as
arguments, we must check for write access to memory. E.g. in some case
map may be read only and this will be missed by current checks.

However meta->raw_mode allows for uninitialized memory (e.g. on stack),
since there is not enough info available through BTF, we must perform
one call for read access (raw_mode = false), and one for write access
(raw_mode = true).

185da3da93 bpf: Replace usage of supported with dedicated list iterator variable
To move the list iterator variable into the list_for_each_entry_*()
macro in the future it should be avoided to use the list iterator
variable after the loop body.

To *never* use the list iterator variable after the loop it was
concluded to use a separate iterator variable instead of a
found boolean [1].

This removes the need to use the found variable (existed & supported)
and simply checking if the variable was set, can determine if the
break/goto was hit.

module_alloc requires num_online_nodes * PMD_SIZE to allocate huge pages.
bpf_prog_pack uses pack of size num_online_nodes * PMD_SIZE.
OTOH, module_alloc returns addresses that are PMD_SIZE aligned (instead of
num_online_nodes * PMD_SIZE aligned). Therefore, PMD_MASK should be used
to calculate pack_ptr in bpf_prog_pack_free().

ee2a098851 bpf: Adjust BPF stack helper functions to accommodate skip > 0
Let's say that the caller has storage for num_elem stack frames.  Then,
the BPF stack helper functions walk the stack for only num_elem frames.
This means that if skip > 0, one keeps only 'num_elem - skip' frames.

This is because it sets init_nr in the perf_callchain_entry to the end
of the buffer to save num_elem entries only.  I believe it was because
the perf callchain code unwound the stack frames until it reached the
global max size (sysctl_perf_event_max_stack).

However it now has perf_callchain_entry_ctx.max_stack to limit the
iteration locally.  This simplifies the code to handle init_nr in the
BPF callstack entries and removes the confusion with the perf_event's
__PERF_SAMPLE_CALLCHAIN_EARLY which sets init_nr to 0.

Also change the comment on bpf_get_stack() in the header file to be
more explicit what the return value means.

ef078600ee bpf: Select proper size for bpf_prog_pack
Using HPAGE_PMD_SIZE as the size for bpf_prog_pack is not ideal in some
cases. Specifically, for NUMA systems, __vmalloc_node_range requires
PMD_SIZE * num_online_nodes() to allocate huge pages. Also, if the system
does not support huge pages (i.e., with cmdline option nohugevmalloc), it
is better to use PAGE_SIZE packs.

Add logic to select proper size for bpf_prog_pack. This solution is not
ideal, as it makes assumption about the behavior of module_alloc and
__vmalloc_node_range. However, it appears to be the easiest solution as
it doesn't require changes in module_alloc and vmalloc code.

b00fa38a9c bpf: Enable non-atomic allocations in local storage
Currently, local storage memory can only be allocated atomically
(GFP_ATOMIC). This restriction is too strict for sleepable bpf
programs.

In this patch, the verifier detects whether the program is sleepable,
and passes the corresponding GFP_KERNEL or GFP_ATOMIC flag as a
5th argument to bpf_task/sk/inode_storage_get. This flag will propagate
down to the local storage functions that allocate memory.

Please note that bpf_task/sk/inode_storage_update_elem functions are
invoked by userspace applications through syscalls. Preemption is
disabled before bpf_task/sk/inode_storage_update_elem is called, which
means they will always have to allocate memory atomically.

edc3ec09ab bpf: Factor out fd returning from bpf_btf_find_by_name_kind
In next few patches, we need a helper that searches all kernel BTFs
(vmlinux and module BTFs), and finds the type denoted by 'name' and
'kind'. Turns out bpf_btf_find_by_name_kind already does the same thing,
but it instead returns a BTF ID and optionally fd (if module BTF). This
is used for relocating ksyms in BPF loader code (bpftool gen skel -L).

We extract the core code out into a new helper bpf_find_btf_id, which
returns the BTF ID in the return value, and BTF pointer in an out
parameter. The reference for the returned BTF pointer is always raised,
hence user must either transfer it (e.g. to a fd), or release it after
use.

Adding support to call bpf_get_attach_cookie helper from
kprobe programs attached with kprobe multi link.

The cookie is provided by array of u64 values, where each
value is paired with provided function address or symbol
with the same array index.

When cookie array is provided it's sorted together with
addresses (check bpf_kprobe_multi_cookie_swap). This way
we can find cookie based on the address in
bpf_get_attach_cookie helper.

Adding new link type BPF_LINK_TYPE_KPROBE_MULTI that attaches kprobe
program through fprobe API.

The fprobe API allows to attach probe on multiple functions at once
very fast, because it works on top of ftrace. On the other hand this
limits the probe point to the function entry or return.

The kprobe program gets the same pt_regs input ctx as when it's attached
through the perf API.

Adding new attach type BPF_TRACE_KPROBE_MULTI that allows attachment
kprobe to multiple function with new link.

User provides array of addresses or symbols with count to attach the
kprobe program to. The new link_create uapi interface looks like:

d2a3b7c5be bpf: Fix net.core.bpf_jit_harden race
It is the bpf_jit_harden counterpart to commit 60b58afc96 ("bpf: fix
net.core.bpf_jit_enable race"). bpf_jit_harden will be tested twice
for each subprog if there are subprogs in bpf program and constant
blinding may increase the length of program, so when running
"./test_progs -t subprogs" and toggling bpf_jit_harden between 0 and 2,
jit_subprogs may fail because constant blinding increases the length
of subprog instructions during extra passs.

So cache the value of bpf_jit_blinding_enabled() during program
allocation, and use the cached value during constant blinding, subprog
JITing and args tracking of tail call.

aebfd12521 x86/ibt,ftrace: Search for __fentry__ location
Currently a lot of ftrace code assumes __fentry__ is at sym+0. However
with Intel IBT enabled the first instruction of a function will most
likely be ENDBR.

Change ftrace_location() to not only return the __fentry__ location
when called for the __fentry__ location, but also when called for the
sym+0 location.

Then audit/update all callsites of this function to consistently use
these new semantics.

ima_file_hash() has been modified to calculate the measurement of a file on
demand, if it has not been already performed by IMA or the measurement is
not fresh. For compatibility reasons, ima_inode_hash() remains unchanged.

Keep the same approach in eBPF and introduce the new helper
bpf_ima_file_hash() to take advantage of the modified behavior of
ima_file_hash().

b530e9e106 bpf: Add "live packet" mode for XDP in BPF_PROG_RUN
This adds support for running XDP programs through BPF_PROG_RUN in a mode
that enables live packet processing of the resulting frames. Previous uses
of BPF_PROG_RUN for XDP returned the XDP program return code and the
modified packet data to userspace, which is useful for unit testing of XDP
programs.

The existing BPF_PROG_RUN for XDP allows userspace to set the ingress
ifindex and RXQ number as part of the context object being passed to the
kernel. This patch reuses that code, but adds a new mode with different
semantics, which can be selected with the new BPF_F_TEST_XDP_LIVE_FRAMES
flag.

When running BPF_PROG_RUN in this mode, the XDP program return codes will
be honoured: returning XDP_PASS will result in the frame being injected
into the networking stack as if it came from the selected networking
interface, while returning XDP_TX and XDP_REDIRECT will result in the frame
being transmitted out that interface. XDP_TX is translated into an
XDP_REDIRECT operation to the same interface, since the real XDP_TX action
is only possible from within the network drivers themselves, not from the
process context where BPF_PROG_RUN is executed.

Internally, this new mode of operation creates a page pool instance while
setting up the test run, and feeds pages from that into the XDP program.
The setup cost of this is amortised over the number of repetitions
specified by userspace.

To support the performance testing use case, we further optimise the setup
step so that all pages in the pool are pre-initialised with the packet
data, and pre-computed context and xdp_frame objects stored at the start of
each page. This makes it possible to entirely avoid touching the page
content on each XDP program invocation, and enables sending up to 9
Mpps/core on my test box.

Because the data pages are recycled by the page pool, and the test runner
doesn't re-initialise them for each run, subsequent invocations of the XDP
program will see the packet data in the state it was after the last time it
ran on that particular page. This means that an XDP program that modifies
the packet before redirecting it has to be careful about which assumptions
it makes about the packet content, but that is only an issue for the most
naively written programs.

Enabling the new flag is only allowed when not setting ctx_out and data_out
in the test specification, since using it means frames will be redirected
somewhere else, so they can't be returned.

03b9c7fa3f bpf: Replace strncpy() with strscpy()
Using strncpy() on NUL-terminated strings is considered deprecated[1].
Moreover, if the length of 'task->comm' is less than the destination buffer
size, strncpy() will NUL-pad the destination buffer, which is a needless
performance penalty.

Replacing strncpy() with strscpy() fixes all these issues.

5844101a1b bpf: Reject programs that try to load __percpu memory.
With the introduction of the btf_type_tag "percpu", we can add a
MEM_PERCPU to identify those pointers that point to percpu memory.
The ability of differetiating percpu pointers from regular memory
pointers have two benefits:

 1. It forbids unexpected use of percpu pointers, such as direct loads.
    In kernel, there are special functions used for accessing percpu
    memory. Directly loading percpu memory is meaningless. We already
    have BPF helpers like bpf_per_cpu_ptr() and bpf_this_cpu_ptr() that
    wrap the kernel percpu functions. So we can now convert percpu
    pointers into regular pointers in a safe way.

 2. Previously, bpf_per_cpu_ptr() and bpf_this_cpu_ptr() only work on
    PTR_TO_PERCPU_BTF_ID, a special reg_type which describes static
    percpu variables in kernel (we rely on pahole to encode them into
    vmlinux BTF). Now, since we can identify __percpu tagged pointers,
    we can also identify dynamically allocated percpu memory as well.
    It means we can use bpf_xxx_cpu_ptr() on dynamic percpu memory.
    This would be very convenient when accessing fields like
    "cgroup->rstat_cpu".

bff61f6fae bpf: Fix checking PTR_TO_BTF_ID in check_mem_access
With the introduction of MEM_USER in

 commit c6f1bfe89a ("bpf: reject program if a __user tagged memory accessed in kernel way")

PTR_TO_BTF_ID can be combined with a MEM_USER tag. Therefore, most
likely, when we compare reg_type against PTR_TO_BTF_ID, we want to use
the reg's base_type. Previously the check in check_mem_access() wants
to say: if the reg is BTF_ID but not NULL, the execution flow falls
into the 'then' branch. But now a reg of (BTF_ID | MEM_USER), which
should go into the 'then' branch, goes into the 'else'.

The end results before and after this patch are the same: regs tagged
with MEM_USER get rejected, but not in a way we intended. So fix the
condition, the error message now is correct.

24d5bb806c bpf: Harden register offset checks for release helpers and kfuncs
Let's ensure that the PTR_TO_BTF_ID reg being passed in to release BPF
helpers and kfuncs always has its offset set to 0. While not a real
problem now, there's a very real possibility this will become a problem
when more and more kfuncs are exposed, and more BPF helpers are added
which can release PTR_TO_BTF_ID.

Previous commits already protected against non-zero var_off. One of the
case we are concerned about now is when we have a type that can be
returned by e.g. an acquire kfunc:

... and struct bar is also a type that can be returned by another
acquire kfunc.

Then, doing the following sequence:

... would work with the current code, since the btf_struct_ids_match
takes reg->off into account for matching pointer type with release kfunc
argument type, but would obviously be incorrect, and most likely lead to
a kernel crash. A test has been included later to prevent regressions in
this area.

e1fad0ff46 bpf: Disallow negative offset in check_ptr_off_reg
check_ptr_off_reg only allows fixed offset to be set for PTR_TO_BTF_ID,
where reg->off < 0 doesn't make sense. This would shift the pointer
backwards, and fails later in btf_struct_ids_match or btf_struct_walk
due to out of bounds access (since offset is interpreted as unsigned).

Improve the verifier by rejecting this case by using a better error
message for BPF helpers and kfunc, by putting a check inside the
check_func_arg_reg_off function.

Also, update existing verifier selftests to work with new error string.

655efe5089 bpf: Fix PTR_TO_BTF_ID var_off check
When kfunc support was added, check_ctx_reg was called for PTR_TO_CTX
register, but no offset checks were made for PTR_TO_BTF_ID. Only
reg->off was taken into account by btf_struct_ids_match, which protected
against type mismatch due to non-zero reg->off, but when reg->off was
zero, a user could set the variable offset of the register and allow it
to be passed to kfunc, leading to bad pointer being passed into the
kernel.

Fix this by reusing the extracted helper check_func_arg_reg_off from
previous commit, and make one call before checking all supported
register types. Since the list is maintained, any future changes will be
taken into account by updating check_func_arg_reg_off. This function
prevents non-zero var_off to be set for PTR_TO_BTF_ID, but still allows
a fixed non-zero reg->off, which is needed for type matching to work
correctly when using pointer arithmetic.

ARG_DONTCARE is passed as arg_type, since kfunc doesn't support
accepting a ARG_PTR_TO_ALLOC_MEM without relying on size of parameter
type from BTF (in case of pointer), or using a mem, len pair. The
forcing of offset check for ARG_PTR_TO_ALLOC_MEM is done because ringbuf
helpers obtain the size from the header located at the beginning of the
memory region, hence any changes to the original pointer shouldn't be
allowed. In case of kfunc, size is always known, either at verification
time, or using the length parameter, hence this forcing is not required.

Since this check will happen once already for PTR_TO_CTX, remove the
check_ptr_off_reg call inside its block.

ceac059ed4 bpf: Cache the last valid build_id
For binaries that are statically linked, consecutive stack frames are
likely to be in the same VMA and therefore have the same build id.

On a real-world workload, we observed that 66% of CPU cycles in
__bpf_get_stackid() were spent on build_id_parse() and find_vma().

As an optimization for this case, we can cache the previous frame's
VMA, if the new frame has the same VMA as the previous one, reuse the
previous one's build id.

We are holding the MM locks as reader across the entire loop, so we
don't need to worry about VMA going away.

Tested through "stacktrace_build_id" and "stacktrace_build_id_nmi" in
test_progs.

5e214f2e43 bpf: Add config to allow loading modules with BTF mismatches
BTF mismatch can occur for a separately-built module even when the ABI is
otherwise compatible and nothing else would prevent successfully loading.

Add a new Kconfig to control how mismatches are handled. By default, preserve
the current behavior of refusing to load the module. If MODULE_ALLOW_BTF_MISMATCH
is enabled, load the module but ignore its BTF information.

In cb80ddc671 ("bpf: Convert bpf_preload.ko to use light skeleton.")
BPF preload was switched from user mode process to use in-kernel light
skeleton instead. However, in the kernel context, early in the boot
sequence, the first available FD can start from 0, instead of normally
3 for user mode process. So FDs 0 and 1 are then used for loaded BPF
programs and prevent init process from setting up stdin/stdout/stderr on
FD 0, 1, and 2 as expected.

d24d2a2b0a bpf: bpf_prog_pack: Set proper size before freeing ro_header
bpf_prog_pack_free() uses header->size to decide whether the header
should be freed with module_memfree() or the bpf_prog_pack logic.
However, in kvmalloc() failure path of bpf_jit_binary_pack_alloc(),
header->size is not set yet. As a result, bpf_prog_pack_free() may treat
a slice of a pack as a standalone kvmalloc'd header and call
module_memfree() on the whole pack. This in turn causes use-after-free by
other users of the pack.

Fix this by setting ro_header->size before freeing ro_header.

75134f16e7 bpf: Add schedule points in batch ops
syzbot reported various soft lockups caused by bpf batch operations.

 INFO: task kworker/1:1:27 blocked for more than 140 seconds.
 INFO: task hung in rcu_barrier

Nothing prevents batch ops to process huge amount of data,
we need to add schedule points in them.

Note that maybe_wait_bpf_programs(map) calls from
generic_map_delete_batch() can be factorized by moving
the call after the loop.

This will be done later in -next tree once we get this fix merged,
unless there is strong opinion doing this optimization sooner.

45ce4b4f90 bpf: Fix crash due to out of bounds access into reg2btf_ids.
When commit e6ac2450d6 ("bpf: Support bpf program calling kernel function") added
kfunc support, it defined reg2btf_ids as a cheap way to translate the verifier
reg type to the appropriate btf_vmlinux BTF ID, however
commit c25b2ae136 ("bpf: Replace PTR_TO_XXX_OR_NULL with PTR_TO_XXX | PTR_MAYBE_NULL")
moved the __BPF_REG_TYPE_MAX from the last member of bpf_reg_type enum to after
the base register types, and defined other variants using type flag
composition. However, now, the direct usage of reg->type to index into
reg2btf_ids may no longer fall into __BPF_REG_TYPE_MAX range, and hence lead to
out of bounds access and kernel crash on dereference of bad pointer.

adb8fa195e libbpf: Split bpf_core_apply_relo()
BTFGen needs to run the core relocation logic in order to understand
what are the types involved in a given relocation.

Currently bpf_core_apply_relo() calculates and **applies** a relocation
to an instruction. Having both operations in the same function makes it
difficult to only calculate the relocation without patching the
instruction. This commit splits that logic in two different phases: (1)
calculate the relocation and (2) patch the instruction.

For the first phase bpf_core_apply_relo() is renamed to
bpf_core_calc_relo_insn() who is now only on charge of calculating the
relocation, the second phase uses the already existing
bpf_core_patch_insn(). bpf_object__relocate_core() uses both of them and
the BTFGen will use only bpf_core_calc_relo_insn().

8cbf062a25 bpf: Reject kfunc calls that overflow insn->imm
Now kfunc call uses s32 to represent the offset between the address of
kfunc and __bpf_call_base, but it doesn't check whether or not s32 will
be overflowed. The overflow is possible when kfunc is in module and the
offset between module and kernel is greater than 2GB. Take arm64 as an
example, before commit b2eed9b588 ("arm64/kernel: kaslr: reduce module
randomization range to 2 GB"), the offset between module symbol and
__bpf_call_base will in 4GB range due to KASLR and may overflow s32.

So add an extra checking to reject these invalid kfunc calls.

3bd916ee0e bpf: Emit bpf_timer in vmlinux BTF
Currently the following code in check_and_init_map_value()
  *(struct bpf_timer *)(dst + map->timer_off) =
      (struct bpf_timer){};
can help generate bpf_timer definition in vmlinuxBTF.
But the code above may not zero the whole structure
due to anonymour members and that code will be replaced
by memset in the subsequent patch and
bpf_timer definition will disappear from vmlinuxBTF.
Let us emit the type explicitly so bpf program can continue
to use it from vmlinux.h.

Fix it by turning bitmap into a 0-length array.

cb80ddc671 bpf: Convert bpf_preload.ko to use light skeleton.
The main change is a move of the single line
  #include "iterators.lskel.h"
from iterators/iterators.c to bpf_preload_kern.c.
Which means that generated light skeleton can be used from user space or
user mode driver like iterators.c or from the kernel module or the kernel itself.
The direct use of light skeleton from the kernel module simplifies the code,
since UMD is no longer necessary. The libbpf.a required user space and UMD. The
CO-RE in the kernel and generated "loader bpf program" used by the light
skeleton are capable to perform complex loading operations traditionally
provided by libbpf. In addition UMD approach was launching UMD process
every time bpffs has to be mounted. With light skeleton in the kernel
the bpf_preload kernel module loads bpf iterators once and pins them
multiple times into different bpffs mounts.

33c9805860 bpf: Introduce bpf_jit_binary_pack_[alloc|finalize|free]
This is the jit binary allocator built on top of bpf_prog_pack.

bpf_prog_pack allocates RO memory, which cannot be used directly by the
JIT engine. Therefore, a temporary rw buffer is allocated for the JIT
engine. Once JIT is done, bpf_jit_binary_pack_finalize is used to copy
the program to the RO memory.

bpf_jit_binary_pack_alloc reserves 16 bytes of extra space for illegal
instructions, which is small than the 128 bytes space reserved by
bpf_jit_binary_alloc. This change is necessary for bpf_jit_binary_hdr
to find the correct header. Also, flag use_bpf_prog_pack is added to
differentiate a program allocated by bpf_jit_binary_pack_alloc.

57631054fa bpf: Introduce bpf_prog_pack allocator
Most BPF programs are small, but they consume a page each. For systems
with busy traffic and many BPF programs, this could add significant
pressure to instruction TLB. High iTLB pressure usually causes slow down
for the whole system, which includes visible performance degradation for
production workloads.

Introduce bpf_prog_pack allocator to pack multiple BPF programs in a huge
page. The memory is then allocated in 64 byte chunks.

Memory allocated by bpf_prog_pack allocator is RO protected after initial
allocation. To write to it, the user (jit engine) need to use text poke
API.

Adopt libbpf's bpf_core_types_are_compat() for kernel duty by adding

The kasan error is triggered with an illegal BTF like below:
   type 0: void
   type 1: int
   type 2: decl_tag to func type 3
   type 3: func to func_proto type 8
The total number of types is 4 and the type 3 is illegal
since its func_proto type is out of range.

Currently, the target type of decl_tag can be struct/union, var or func.
Both struct/union and var implemented their own 'resolve' callback functions
and hence handled properly in kernel.
But func type doesn't have 'resolve' callback function. When
btf_decl_tag_resolve() tries to check func type, it tries to get
vlen of its func_proto type, which triggered the above kasan error.

To fix the issue, btf_decl_tag_resolve() needs to do btf_func_check()
before trying to accessing func_proto type.
In the current implementation, func type is checked with
btf_func_check() in the main checking function btf_check_all_types().
To fix the above kasan issue, let us implement 'resolve' callback
func type properly. The 'resolve' callback will be also called
in btf_check_all_types() for func types.

b293dcc473 bpf: Use VM_MAP instead of VM_ALLOC for ringbuf
After commit 2fd3fb0be1d1 ("kasan, vmalloc: unpoison VM_ALLOC pages
after mapping"), non-VM_ALLOC mappings will be marked as accessible
in __get_vm_area_node() when KASAN is enabled. But now the flag for
ringbuf area is VM_ALLOC, so KASAN will complain out-of-bound access
after vmap() returns. Because the ringbuf area is created by mapping
allocated pages, so use VM_MAP instead.

After the change, info in /proc/vmallocinfo also changes from
  [start]-[end]   24576 ringbuf_map_alloc+0x171/0x290 vmalloc user
to
  [start]-[end]   24576 ringbuf_map_alloc+0x171/0x290 vmap user

c6f1bfe89a bpf: reject program if a __user tagged memory accessed in kernel way
BPF verifier supports direct memory access for BPF_PROG_TYPE_TRACING type
of bpf programs, e.g., a->b. If "a" is a pointer
pointing to kernel memory, bpf verifier will allow user to write
code in C like a->b and the verifier will translate it to a kernel
load properly. If "a" is a pointer to user memory, it is expected
that bpf developer should be bpf_probe_read_user() helper to
get the value a->b. Without utilizing BTF __user tagging information,
current verifier will assume that a->b is a kernel memory access
and this may generate incorrect result.

Now BTF contains __user information, it can check whether the
pointer points to a user memory or not. If it is, the verifier
can reject the program and force users to use bpf_probe_read_user()
helper explicitly.

In the future, we can easily extend btf_add_space for other
address space tagging, for example, rcu/percpu etc.

46531a3036 cgroup/bpf: fast path skb BPF filtering
Even though there is a static key protecting from overhead from
cgroup-bpf skb filtering when there is nothing attached, in many cases
it's not enough as registering a filter for one type will ruin the fast
path for all others. It's observed in production servers I've looked
at but also in laptops, where registration is done during init by
systemd or something else.

Add a per-socket fast path check guarding from such overhead. This
affects both receive and transmit paths of TCP, UDP and other
protocols. It showed ~1% tx/s improvement in small payload UDP
send benchmarks using a real NIC and in a server environment and the
number jumps to 2-3% for preemtible kernels.

Commit dee872e124 ("bpf: Populate kfunc BTF ID sets in struct btf")
breaks loading of some modules when CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO_BTF is not set.
register_btf_kfunc_id_set returns -ENOENT to the callers when
there is no module btf. Let's return 0 (success) instead to let
those modules work in !CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO_BTF cases.
