Asus TF700T tablet uses TC358768 DPI->DSI bridge that sits between Tegra's
DPI output and display panel input. Bridge requires to have stable PCLK
output before RGB encoder is enabled because it uses PCLK by itself to
clock internal logic and bridge is programmed before Tegra's encoder is
enabled. Hence the PCLK clock shifter must be programmed when CRTC is
enabled, otherwise clock is unstable and bridge hangs because of it.

Testing the stealing of guc ids is hard from user space as we have 64k
guc_ids. Add a selftest, which artificially reduces the number of guc
ids, and forces a steal.
The test creates a spinner which is used to block all subsequent
submissions until it completes. Next, a loop creates a context and a NOP
request each iteration until the guc_ids are exhausted (request creation
returns -EAGAIN). The spinner is ended, unblocking all requests created
in the loop. At this point all guc_ids are exhausted but are available
to steal. Try to create another request which should successfully steal
a guc_id. Wait on last request to complete, idle GPU, verify a guc_id
was stolen via a counter, and exit the test. Test also artificially
reduces the number of guc_ids so the test runs in a timely manner.

While attempting to debug a CT deadlock issue in various CI failures
(most easily reproduced with gem_ctx_create/basic-files), I was seeing
CPU deadlock errors being reported. This were because the context
destroy loop was blocking waiting on H2G space from inside an IRQ
spinlock. There no was deadlock as such, it's just that the H2G queue
was full of context destroy commands and GuC was taking a long time to
process them. However, the kernel was seeing the large amount of time
spent inside the IRQ lock as a dead CPU. Various Bad Things(tm) would
then happen (heartbeat failures, CT deadlock errors, outstanding H2G
WARNs, etc.).
Re-working the loop to only acquire the spinlock around the list
management (which is all it is meant to protect) rather than the
entire destroy operation seems to fix all the above issues.

Several DRM/KMS atomic commits can run in parallel if they affect
different CRTC. These commits share the global HVS state, so we have
some code to make sure we run commits in sequence. This synchronization
code is one of the first thing that runs in vc4_atomic_commit_tail().
Another constraints we have is that we need to make sure the HVS clock
gets a boost during the commit. That code relies on clk_set_min_rate and
will remove the old minimum and set a new one. We also need another,
temporary, minimum for the duration of the commit.
The algorithm is thus to set a temporary minimum, drop the previous
one, do the commit, and finally set the minimum for the current mode.
However, the part that sets the temporary minimum and drops the older
one runs before the commit synchronization code.
Thus, under the proper conditions, we can end up mixing up the minimums
and ending up with the wrong one for our current step.
To avoid it, let's move the clock setup in the protected section.

I am seeing some crash logs which imply that we are trying to use
crashdumper hw to read back GPU state when the GPU isn't initialized.
This doesn't go well (for example, GPU could be in 32b address mode
and ignoring the upper bits of buffer that it is trying to dump state
to).
I'm not *quite* sure how we get into this state in the first place,
but lets not make a bad situation worse by triggering iova fault
crashes.
While we're at it, also add the information about whether the GPU is
initialized to the devcore dump to make this easier to see in the
logs (which makes the WARN_ON() redundant and even harmful because
it fills up the small bit of dmesg we get with the crash report).

Move code using the Pipe struct to a new helper function.
Works around[0] this warning (resulting in failure to build a RHEL debug

../drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/../display/dc/dml/dcn31/display_mode_vba_31.c: In function ‘dml31_ModeSupportAndSystemConfigurationFull’:

The culprit seems to be the Pipe struct, so pull the relevant block out
into its own sub-function. (This is porting
commit a62427ef9b ("drm/amd/display: Reduce stack size for dml21_ModeSupportAndSystemConfigurationFull")
from dml31 to dml21)
[0] AFAICT this doesn't actually reduce the total amount of stack which
can be used, just moves some of it from
dml31_ModeSupportAndSystemConfigurationFull to the new helper function,
so the former happens to no longer exceed the limit for a single
function.

SMU firmware expects the driver maintains error context
and doesn't interact with SMU any more when SMU errors
occurred. That will aid in debugging SMU firmware issues.
Add SMU debug option support for this request, it can be
enabled or disabled via amdgpu_smu_debug debugfs file.
Use a 32-bit mask to indicate corresponding debug modes.
Currently, only one mode(HALT_ON_ERROR) is supported.
When enabled, it brings hardware to a kind of halt state
so that no one can touch it any more in the envent of SMU
errors.
The dirver interacts with SMU via sending messages. And
threre are three ways to sending messages to SMU in current
implementation. Handle them respectively as following:
1, smu_cmn_send_smc_msg_with_param() for normal timeout cases
Halt on any error.
2, smu_cmn_send_msg_without_waiting()/smu_cmn_wait_for_response()
for longer timeout cases
Halt on errors apart from ETIME. Otherwise this way won't work.
Let the user handle ETIME error in such a case.
3, smu_cmn_send_msg_without_waiting() for no waiting cases
Halt on errors apart from ETIME. Otherwise second way won't work.
== Command Guide ==
1, enable HALT_ON_ERROR mode

check whether applying the attributes to a particular range would
change the bitmaps.

In commit 41ca9caaae
("drm/mediatek: hdmi: Add check for CEA modes only") a check
for CEA modes was added to function mtk_hdmi_bridge_mode_valid()
in order to address possible issues on MT8167;
moreover, with commit c91026a938

another similar check was introduced.
Unfortunately though, at the time of writing, MT8173 does not provide
any mtk_hdmi_conf structure and this is crashing the kernel with NULL
pointer upon entering mtk_hdmi_bridge_mode_valid(), which happens as
soon as a HDMI cable gets plugged in.
To fix this regression, add a NULL pointer check for hdmi->conf in the

now we also zero out the other masks (although cpu_transocder_mask

only used by the display core init when HAS_DISPLAY is true, so

lockdep is only told that it is acquired but no lock has been acquired.
It appears that its purpose is just satisfy the lockdep_assert_held()
check in intel_context_mark_active(). The other problem with disabling
interrupts is that on PREEMPT_RT interrupts are also disabled which
leads to problems for instance later during memory allocation.
Add a CONTEXT_IS_PARKING bit to intel_engine_cs and set_bit/clear_bit it
instead of mutex_acquire/mutex_release. Use test_bit in the two
identified spots which relied on the lockdep annotation.

This is initial change adding support for DRIVER_GEM to vmwgfx. vmwgfx
was written before GEM and has always used TTM. Over the years the
TTM buffers started inherting from GEM objects but vmwgfx never
implemented GEM making it quite awkward. We were directly setting
variables in GEM objects to not make DRM crash.
This change brings vmwgfx inline with other DRM drivers and allows us
to use a lot of DRM helpers which have depended on drivers with GEM
support.
Due to historical reasons vmwgfx splits the idea of a buffer and surface
which makes it a littly tricky since either one can be used in most
of our ioctl's which take user space handles. For now our BO's are
GEM objects and our surfaces are opaque objects which are backed by
GEM objects. In the future I'd like to combine those into a single
BO but we don't want to break any of our existing ioctl's so it will
take time to do it in a non-destructive way.

vmwgfx shared very elaborate memory accounting with ttm. It was moved
from ttm to vmwgfx in change
f07069da6b ("drm/ttm: move memory accounting into vmwgfx v4")
but because of complexity it was hard to maintain. Some parts of the code
weren't freeing memory correctly and some were missing accounting all
together. While those would be fairly easy to fix the fundamental reason
for memory accounting in the driver was the ability to invoke shrinker
which is part of TTM code as well (with support for unified memory
hopefully coming soon).
That meant that vmwgfx had a lot of code that was either unused or
duplicating code from TTM. Removing this code also prevents excessive
calls to global swapout which were common during memory pressure
because both vmwgfx and TTM would invoke the shrinker when memory
usage reached half of RAM.

live_engine_busy_stats waits for busyness to start ticking before
sampling busyness for the test sample duration. The wait accesses an
MMIO register and the uncore call to read it takes up to 3 ms in the
worst case. This can result in the wait timing out since the MMIO read
itself consumes up the timeout of 500us. Increase the timeout to a
larger value of 10ms to account for the MMIO read time.

On some platforms the hw has dropped support for 4K GTT pages when
dealing with LMEM, and due to the design of 64K GTT pages in the hw, we
can only mark the *entire* page-table as operating in 64K GTT mode,
since the enable bit is still on the pde, and not the pte. And since we
we still need to allow 4K GTT pages for SMEM objects, we can't have a
"normal" 4K page-table with scratch pointing to LMEM, since that's
undefined from the hw pov. The simplest solution is to just move the 64K

This reverts commit b3484d2b03.
That change attempted to improve the DRM drivers fbdev emulation device
names to avoid having confusing names like "simpledrmdrmfb" in /proc/fb.
But unfortunately, there are user-space programs such as pm-utils that
match against the fbdev names and so broke after the mentioned commit.
Since the names in /proc/fb are used by tools that consider it an uAPI,
let's restore the old names even when this lead to silly names like the
one mentioned above.

Add display/intel_display_trace.[ch] for defining display
tracepoints. The main goal is to reduce cross-includes between gem and
display. It would be possible split up tracing even further, but that
would lead to more boilerplate.
We end up having to include intel_crtc.h in a few places because it was
pulled in implicitly via intel_de.h -> i915_trace.h -> intel_crtc.h, and
that's no longer the case.
There should be no changes to tracepoints.

Commit 739b4e7756 ("drm/msm/dsi: Fix an error code in

error code in case msm_dsi_manager_validate_current_config() returns
false. However this is not an error case, but a slave DSI of the bonded
DSI link. In this case msm_dsi_modeset_init() should return 0, but just
skip connector and bridge initialization.
To reduce possible confusion, drop the
msm_dsi_manager_validate_current_config() function, and specif 'bonded

dma_fence_chain_find_seqno only ever returns the top fence in the
chain or an unsignalled fence. Hence if we request a seqno that
is already signalled it returns a NULL fence. Some callers are
not prepared to handle this, like the syncobj transfer functions
for example.
This behavior is "new" with timeline syncobj and it looks like
not all callers were updated. To fix this behavior make sure
that a successful drm_sync_find_fence always returns a non-NULL
fence.

If the drm_plane has a source width that's greater than the max width
supported by a single hw overlay, then we assign a 'r_overlay' to it in
omap_plane_atomic_check().
Both overlays should have the capabilities required to handle the source
framebuffer. The only parameters that vary between the left and right
hwoverlays are the src_w, crtc_w, src_x and crtc_x as we just even chop
the fb into left and right halves.
We also take care of not creating odd width size when dealing with YUV
formats.
Since both halves need to be 'appear' side by side the zpos is
recalculated when dealing with dual overlay cases so that the other
planes zpos is consistent.
Depending on user space usage it is possible that on occasion the number
of requested planes exceeds the numbers of overlays required to display
them. In that case a failure would be returned for the plane that cannot
be handled at that time. It is up to user space to make sure the H/W
resource are not over-subscribed.

(re)assign the hw overlays to planes based on required caps, and to
handle situations where we could not modify an in-use plane.
This means all planes advertise the superset of formats and properties.
Userspace must (as always) use atomic TEST_ONLY step for atomic updates,
as not all planes may be available for use on every frame.
The mapping of hwoverlays to plane is stored in omap_global_state, so
that state updates are atomically committed in the same way that
plane/etc state updates are managed. This is needed because the
omap_plane_state keeps a pointer to the hwoverlay, and we don't want
global state to become out of sync with the plane state if an atomic
update fails, we hit deadlock/ backoff scenario, etc. The use of
global_state_lock keeps multiple parallel updates which both re-assign
hwoverlays properly serialized.

funcs omap_get_global_state() and omap_get_existing_global_state() are
the two variants that will be used to access omap_global_state.
drm_mode_config_init() needs to be called earlier because it
creates/initializes the private_obj link list maintained by the atomic
framework. The private_obj link list has to exist prior to calling
drm_atomic_private_obj_init(). Similarly the cleanup handler are
reordered appropriately.

In preparation to add omap plane state specific extensions we need to
subclass drm_plane_state and add the relevant helpers.
The addition of specific extension will be done separately.

Split out the hardware overlay specifics from omap_plane.
To start, the hw overlays are statically assigned to planes.
The goal is to eventually assign hw overlays dynamically to planes
during plane->atomic_check() based on requested caps (scaling, YUV,
etc). And then perform hw overlay re-assignment if required.
