ASoC: mchp-spdiftx: Do not set Validity bit(s)
The Validity bits (bit 28) must not be set in order to have the samples
valid. Some controllers look for this bit and ignore the samples if it
is set.

ASoC: atmel-i2s: do not warn if muxclk is missing
Besides the fact that muxclk is optional, muxclk can be set using
assigned-clocks, removing the need to set it in driver. The warning is
thus unneeded, so we can transform it in a debug print, eventually to just
reflect that muxclk was not set by the driver.

ASoC: atmel-pdmic: remove codec component
The CPU and the codec both are represented now as components, so for
PDMIC we are registering two componenets with the same name. Since
there is no actual codec, we will merge the codec component into the
CPU one and use a dummy codec instead, for the DAI link.
As a bonus, debugfs will no longer report an error when will try to
create entries for both componenets with the same name.

ASoC: atmel: atmel_ssc_dai: move .suspend/.resume to component
There is no big difference at implementation for .suspend/.resume
between DAI driver and Component driver.
But because some driver is using DAI version, thus ALSA SoC needs
to keep supporting it, hence, framework becoming verbose.
If we can switch all DAI driver .suspend/.resume to Component driver,
we can remove verbose code from ALSA SoC.

Driver is getting its private data via dai->dev.
But dai->dev and component->dev are same dev, thus, we can convert
these. For same reason, we can convert dai->active to
component->active if necessary.

This patch moves DAI driver .suspend/.resume to Component driver

ASoC: atmel_ssc_dai: Remove wrong spinlock usage
A potential bug was reported in the email "[BUG] atmel_ssc_dai: a
possible sleep-in-atomic bug in atmel_ssc_shutdown"[1]

Indeed in the function atmel_ssc_shutdown() free_irq() was called in a
critical section protected by spinlock.

However this spinlock is only used in atmel_ssc_shutdown() and
atmel_ssc_startup() functions. After further analysis, it occurred that
the call to these function are already protected by mutex used on the
calling functions.

Then we can remove the spinlock which will fix this bug as a side
effect. Thanks to this patch the following message disappears:

ASoC: mchp-i2s-mcc: Fix simultaneous capture and playback in master mode
This controller supports capture and playback running at the same time,
with the limitation that both capture and playback must be configured the
same way (sample rate, sample format, number of channels, etc). For this,
we have to assure that the configuration registers look the same when
capture and playback are initiated.
This patch fixes a bug in which the controller is in master mode and the
hw_params() callback fails for the second audio stream. The fail occurs
because the divisors are calculated after comparing the configuration
registers for capture and playback. The fix consists in calculating the
divisors before comparing the configuration registers. BCLK and LRC are
then configured and started only if the controller is not already running.

But, some CPU driver is using generic DMAEngine, in such case, both
CPU component and Platform component will have same of_node/name.
In other words, there are some components which are different but
have same of_node/name.

In such case, Card driver definitely need to select Platform even
though it is same as CPU.
It is depends on CPU driver, but is difficult to know it from Card driver.

synchronous, digital audio link to external audio devices: I2SMCC_DIN,
I2SMCC_DOUT, I2SMCC_WS, I2SMCC_CK, and I2SMCC_MCK pins.
The I2SMCC complies with the Inter-IC Sound (I2S) bus specification and
supports a Time Division Multiplexed (TDM) interface with external
multi-channel audio codecs.
The I2SMCC consists of a receiver, a transmitter and a common clock
generator that can be enabled separately to provide Master, Slave or
Controller modes with receiver and/or transmitter active.
DMA Controller channels, separate for the receiver and for the transmitter,
allow a continuous high bit rate data transfer without processor
intervention to the following:
 - Audio CODECs in Master, Slave, or Controller mode
 - Stereo DAC or ADC through a dedicated I2S serial interface
 - Multi-channel or multiple stereo DACs or ADCs, using the TDM format

b24413180f License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.

By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.

Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.

This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.

How this work was done:

Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
 - file had no licensing information it it.
 - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
 - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,

Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.

The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.

The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
 - Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
 - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
   lines of source
 - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
   lines).

All documentation files were explicitly excluded.

The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.

 - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
   COPYING file license applied.

For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0 11139

and resulted in the first patch in this series.

If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930

and resulted in the second patch in this series.

 - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
it (per prior point). Results summary:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270
   GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17
   LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15
   GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14
   ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5
   LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4
   LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1

and that resulted in the third patch in this series.

 - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
   the concluded license(s).

 - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.

 - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).

 - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

 - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
   in time.

In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.

Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.

In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.

Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
 - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
   license ids and scores
 - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
 - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
   SPDX license was correct

This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.

These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

4ab6cf11e7 ASoC: atmel-classd: remove aclk clock
Since gclk (generated-clk) is now able to determine the rate of the
audio_pll, there is no need for classd to have a direct phandle to the
audio_pll while already having a phandle to gclk.

Thus, remove all mentions to aclk in classd driver and update macros and
variable names.

ca8c7f233f ASoC: atmel: tse850: rely on the ssc to register as a cpu dai by itself
This breaks devicetree compatibility, but in this case that is ok. All
affected units are either on my desk, or running an even older version
of the driver that is not compatible with the upstreamed version anyway
(and when these other units are eventually updated, they will get a
fresh dtb as well, so that is not a significant problem either).

All of that is of course assuming that noone else has managed to build

061981ff8c ASoC: atmel: properly select dma driver state
It is currently possible to have CONFIG_SND_ATMEL_SOC_SSC=y with either
CONFIG_SND_ATMEL_SOC_PDC=m or CONFIG_SND_ATMEL_SOC_DMA=m. This results in a
driver that compiles but does not link with this kind of error:

sound/built-in.o: In function `atmel_ssc_set_audio':

sound/built-in.o: In function `atmel_ssc_put_audio':

Introduce new config options SND_ATMEL_SOC_SSC_PDC and
SND_ATMEL_SOC_SSC_DMA which should be used by the board drivers and the
correct logic to properly select the SND_ATMEL_SOC_PDC and
SND_ATMEL_SOC_DMA states.

acde50a7bf ASoC: dmaengine_pcm: Make FLAG_NO_RESIDUE internal
Whether residue can be reported or not is not a property of the audio
controller but of the DMA controller. The FLAG_NO_RESIDUE was initially
added when the DMAengine framework had no support for describing the residue
reporting capabilities of the controller. Support for this was added quite a
while ago and recently the DMAengine framework started to complain if a
driver does not describe its capabilities and a lot of patches have been
merged that add support for this where it was missing. So it should be safe
to assume that driver on actively used platforms properly implement the DMA
capabilities API.

This patch makes the FLAG_NO_RESIDUE internal and no longer allows audio
controller drivers to manually set the flag. If a DMA driver against
expectations does not support reporting its capabilities for now the generic
DMAengine PCM driver will now emit a warning and simply assume that residue
reporting is not supported. In the future this might be changed to aborting
with an error.

b6d6c6e95f ASoC: atmel_ssc_dai: Allow more rates
When the SSC acts as BCK master, use a ratnum rule to limit
the rate instead of only doing the standard rates. When the SSC
acts as BCK slave, allow any BCK frequency up to the SSC master
clock, divided by either of 2, 3 or 6.

Put a cap at 384kHz. Who's /ever/ going to need more than that?

The divider of 2, 3 or 6 is selected based on the Serial Clock Ratio
Considerations section from the SSC documentation:

The Transmitter and the Receiver can be programmed to operate
with the clock signals provided on either the TK or RK pins.
This allows the SSC to support many slave-mode data transfers.
In this case, the maximum clock speed allowed on the RK pin is:
    - Peripheral clock divided by 2 if Receiver Frame Synchro is input
    - Peripheral clock divided by 3 if Receiver Frame Synchro is output
In addition, the maximum clock speed allowed on the TK pin is:
    - Peripheral clock divided by 6 if Transmit Frame Synchro is input
    - Peripheral clock divided by 2 if Transmit Frame Synchro is output
