There's a need to verify that a single async sub-device isn't being added
multiple times, this would be an error. This takes place at the time of
adding the async sub-device to the notifier's list as well as when the
notifier is added to the global notifier's list.
Use the pointer to the sub-device for testing this instead of an index to
an array that is long gone. (There was an array of async sub-devices in
the notifier before it was converted to a linked list by commit
66beb323e4 ("media: v4l2: async: Remove notifier subdevs array").)

The function is marked as deprecated in the documentation and is actually

This change allows to make the helper function
__v4l2_async_nf_add_connection() visibility private to v4l2-async.c so
that there is no risk drivers can mistakenly use it.

In the multi-core JPEG encoder/decoder setup, the driver for the

However, in the parent driver, this is only set at the end of the probe

the probe of the cores. This causes a kernel splat in the sub-device

Commit fe8a339783 ("media: mediatek: vcodec: Read HW active status
from syscon") allowed the driver to read the VDEC_SYS io space from a
syscon instead of from the reg property when reg-names are supplied.
However as part of that change, a smatch warning was introduced:
drivers/media/platform/mediatek/vcodec/mtk_vcodec_dec_drv.c:142 mtk_vcodec_get_reg_bases() error: buffer overflow 'mtk_dec_reg_names' 11 <= 11
With a correct Devicetree, that is, one that follows the dt-binding, it
wouldn't be possible to trigger such a buffer overflow. Even so, update
the range validation of the reg property, so that the smatch warning is
fixed and if an incorrect Devicetree is ever supplied the code errors
out instead of causing memory corruption.

inside the vdec_msg_queue_deinit() function. However, if the

set the size to zero explicitly and return.

The "lat_buf->private_data" needs to be set to NULL to prevent a
double free. How this would happen is if vdec_msg_queue_init() failed
twice in a row and on the second time it failed earlier than on the
first time.
The vdec_msg_queue_init() function has a loop which does:
for (i = 0; i < NUM_BUFFER_COUNT; i++) {
Each iteration initializes one element in the msg_queue->lat_buf[] array
and then the clean up function vdec_msg_queue_deinit() frees each
element of the msg_queue->lat_buf[] array. This clean up code relies
on the assumption that every element is either initialized or zeroed.
Leaving a freed pointer which is non-zero breaks the assumption.

Commit f100ce3bbd ("media: verisilicon: Fix crash when probing

initialized from vpu_dst_fmt, which may not be initialized, when TRY_FMT
is called. It was replaced by fmt, which is found using the pixelformat.
For the encoder, this changed the fmt to contain the raw format instead
of the coded format. The format constraints as of fmt->frmsize are only
valid for the coded format and are 0 for the raw formats. Therefore, the
size of a encoder OUTPUT device is constrained to 0 and the
v4l2-compliance tests for G_FMT, TRY_FMT, and SET_FMT fail.
Bring back vpu_fmt to use the coded format on an encoder OUTPUT device,
but initialize it using the currently set pixelformat on dst_fmt, which
is the coded format on an encoder.

The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate
of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus.
As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they
"temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h
and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include
files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and
replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to
explicitly include the correct includes.

The supported ad5820 and ad5821 VCMs both use a single 16 bit register
which is written by sending 2 bytes with the data directly after sending
the i2c-client address.
The ad5823 OTOH has a more typical i2c / smbus device setup with multiple
8 bit registers where the first byte send after the i2c-client address is
the register address and the actual data only starts from the second byte
after the i2c-client address.
The ad5823 i2c_ and of_device_id-s was added at the same time as
the ad5821 ids with as rationale:
"""
Some camera modules also refer that AD5823 is a replacement of AD5820:
https://download.kamami.com/p564094-OV8865_DS.pdf
"""
The AD5823 may be an electrical and functional replacement of the AD5820,
but from a software pov it is not compatible at all and it is going to
need its own driver, drop its id from the ad5820 driver.

OV5640 will output abnormal image data when work at low resolution
(320x240, 176x144 and 160x120) after switching from high resolution,
such as 1080P, the time interval between high and low switching must
be less than 1000ms in order to OV5640 don't enter suspend state during
the time.
The reason is by 0x3824 value don't restore to initialize value when
do resolution switching. In high resolution setting array, 0x3824 is
set to 0x04, but low resolution setting array remove 0x3824 in commit
db15c1957a ("media: ov5640: Remove duplicated mode settings"). So
when do resolution switching from high to low, such as 1080P to 320x240,
and the time interval is less than auto suspend delay time which means
global initialize setting array will not be loaded, the output image
data are abnormal. Hence move 0x3824 from ov5640_init_setting[] table
to ov5640_setting_low_res[] table and also move 0x4407 0x460b, 0x460c
to avoid same issue.

The register abstraction has wrappers around both the normal writel()
and its writel_relaxed() counterpart, but this has led to a lot of users
ending up with the relaxed version.
There is sometimes a need to intentionally pick the relaxed accessor for
performance critical functions, but I noticed that each hantro_reg_write()
call also contains a non-relaxed readl(), which is typically much more
expensive than a writel, so there is little benefit here but an added
risk of missing a serialization against DMA.
To make this behave like other interfaces, use the normal accessor by
default and only provide the relaxed version as an alternative for
performance critical code. hantro_postproc.c is the only place that
used both the relaxed and normal writel, but this does not seem
cricital either, so change it all to the normal ones.

In some configurations, gcc decides not to inline the register accessor
functions, which in turn leads to lots of temporary hantro_reg structures
on the stack that cannot be eliminated because they escape into an
uninlined function:
drivers/media/platform/verisilicon/rockchip_vpu981_hw_av1_dec.c:1022:1: warning: the frame size of 1112 bytes is larger than 1024 bytes [-Wframe-larger-than=]
Mark all of these as __always_inline so the compiler is able to completely
eliminate the temporary structures instead, which brings the stack usage
back down to just the normal local variables.

The mtk8195_jpegenc_drvdata object was added outside of an #ifdef causing
a harmless build warning.
drivers/media/platform/mediatek/jpeg/mtk_jpeg_core.c:1879:32: error: 'mtk8195_jpegenc_drvdata' defined but not used [-Werror=unused-variable]
1879 | static struct mtk_jpeg_variant mtk8195_jpegenc_drvdata = {
| ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A follow-up patch moved it inside of an #ifdef, which caused more
warnings, and a third patch ended up adding even more #ifdefs. These
were all bogus, since the actual problem here is the incorrect use
of of_ptr(). Since the driver (like any other modern platform driver)
only works in combination with CONFIG_OF, there is no point in hiding
the reference, so just remove that along with all the pointless #ifdef
checks in the driver.
This improves build coverage and avoids running into the same problem
again when another part of the driver gets changed that relies on
the #ifdef blocks to be completely matched.

Address these compiler warnings by initialising the m_best and p_best

The warnings may well be a false positive but it is difficult for a
compiler to find out whether that truly is the case.

The tc358746 driver selects CONFIG_GENERIC_PHY_MIPI_DPHY and links to
that, but this fails when CONFIG_GENERIC_PHY is disabled, because Kbuild
then never enters the drivers/phy directory for building object files:
ERROR: modpost: "phy_mipi_dphy_get_default_config_for_hsclk" [drivers/media/i2c/tc358746.ko] undefined!
Add an explicit 'select GENERIC_PHY' here to ensure that the directory
is entered, and add another dependency on that symbol so make it
more obvious what is going on if another driver has the same problem,
as this will produce a Kconfig warning.

For historical reasons, unbound workqueues with max concurrency limit of 1
are considered ordered, even though the concurrency limit hasn't been
system-wide for a long time. This creates ambiguity around whether ordered
execution is actually required for correctness, which was actually confusing
for e.g. btrfs (btrfs updates are being routed through the btrfs tree).
There aren't that many users in the tree which use the combination and there
are pending improvements to unbound workqueue affinity handling which will
make inadvertent use of ordered workqueue a bigger loss. This pull request
clarifies the situation for most of them by updating the ones which require
ordered execution to use alloc_ordered_workqueue().
There are some conversions being routed through subsystem-specific trees and
likely a few stragglers. Once they're all converted, workqueue can trigger a
warning on unbound + @max_active==1 usages and eventually drop the implicit
ordered behavior.

Don't assert held dma-buf reservation lock on memory mapping of exported
buffer.
We're going to change dma-buf mmap() locking policy such that exporters
will have to handle the lock. The previous locking policy caused deadlock
problem for DRM drivers in a case of self-imported dma-bufs once these
drivers are moved to use reservation lock universally. The problem is
solved by moving the lock down to exporters. This patch prepares videobuf2
for the locking policy update.

Fraction bytes-per-pixel exist for some packed format. You will find
notably on Rockhip platform that 10bit data is stored fully packed,
meaning that there is 1.25 pixels per bytes. This can be represented
with the fraction 5/4 and can be used to scale the width into a
bytesperline.

ALIGN() expects its second argument to be a power of 2, otherwise
incorrect results are produced for some inputs. The output can be
both larger or smaller than what is expected.
For example, ALIGN(304, 192) equals 320 instead of 384, and
ALIGN(65, 192) equals 256 instead of 192.
However, nestling two ALIGN() as is done in this case seem to only
produce results equal to or bigger than the expected result if ALIGN()
had handled non powers of two, and that in turn results in framesizes
that are either the correct size or too large.
Fortunately, since 192 * 4 / 3 equals 256, it turns out that one ALIGN()
is sufficient.

the fcc field set to 0. Since commit 50459f103e ("media: uvcvideo:

provide the format description string, which the V4L2 core can't do
without a valid 4CC. This triggers a WARN_ON.
As a format with a zero 4CC can't be selected, it is unusable for
applications. Ignore the format completely without creating a uvc_format
instance, which fixes the warning.

that use the CEC pin framework this is needed to properly stop the
hrtimer. Without this a crash would happen when such a driver is
unloaded with rmmod.

In an earlier commit, setting the which field of the subdev format struct
in video_get_subdev_format was moved to a designated initializer that also
zeroes all other fields. However, the memset call that was zeroing the
fields earlier was left in place, causing the which field to be cleared
after being set in the initializer.
Remove the memset call from video_get_subdev_format to avoid clearing the
initialized which field.

pm_runtime_get_if_in_use() does not only return nonzero values when

The ov5640_update_pixel_rate() function handles the parallel and MIPI
CSI-2 cases separately.
When running on a parallel setup the V4L2_CID_PIXEL_RATE value is
calculated at the beginning of the function using the values configured
with the frame_interval operations, and then the function immediately
returns.
The remaining of the function handles the MIPI CSI-2 configuration and
should not use the 'current_fr' and 'def_fps' fields as those are only
relevant for parallel mode.
