The zx296718 clock driver has a creative way of assigning the register
values for each clock, by initializing an __iomem pointer to an
offset and then later adding the base (from ioremap) on top
with a cast to u64. This fail on all 32-bit architectures during
compile testing:
drivers/clk/zte/clk-zx296718.c: In function 'top_clocks_init':
drivers/clk/zte/clk-zx296718.c:554:35: error: cast from pointer to integer of different size [-Werror=pointer-to-int-cast]
zx296718_pll_clk[i].reg_base += (u64)reg_base;
drivers/clk/zte/clk-zx296718.c:579:29: error: cast from pointer to integer of different size [-Werror=pointer-to-int-cast]
drivers/clk/zte/clk-zx296718.c:592:31: error: cast from pointer to integer of different size [-Werror=pointer-to-int-cast]
It would be nice to avoid all the casts, but I decided to simply
shut up the warnings by changing the type from u64 to uintptr_t,
which does the right thing in practice.

The PLLs have a "lock" bit in their configuration registers which
indicate if the PLL has locked on to the requested clock rate. We
check this bit in the .set_rate op. The PLL cannot lock on if it's
not running, which might be a false positive (warning).
Set the CLK_SET_RATE_UNGATE flag for all PLLs so whenever clk_set_rate
is called on them, they get enabled and the "lock" check is really
checking the PLL.

This patch adds code instantiating the EPLL, which is used as the
audio subsystem's root clock.
The requirement to specify the external root clock in clocks property
is documented. Having the consumer 'clocks' property ensures proper
initialization order by explicitly specifying dependencies in DT.
It prevents situations when the SoC's clock controller driver has
initialized, the external oscillator clock is not yet registered
and setting clock frequencies through assigned-clock-rates property
doesn't work properly due to unknown external oscillator frequency.

If the firmware had set up a clock to source from PLLC, go along with
it. But if we're looking for a new parent, we don't want to switch it
to PLLC because the firmware will force PLLC (and thus the AXI bus
clock) to different frequencies during over-temp/under-voltage,
without notification to Linux.
On my system, this moves the Linux-enabled HDMI state machine and DSI1
escape clock over to plld_per from pllc_per. EMMC still ends up on
pllc_per, because the firmware had set it up to use that.

While the SDRAM is being driven by its dedicated PLL most of the time,
there is a little loop running in the firmware that periodically turns
on the CM SDRAM clock (using its pre-initialized parent) and switches
SDRAM to using the CM clock to do PVT recalibration.
This avoids system hangs if we choose SDRAM's parent for some other
clock, then disable that clock.

control. While reading that clock is done the normal way from the
registers, setting it always requires some sort of special handling
to let the system survive this addition.
As the commit message explains, there are currently 3 handling-types
known. General SRAM-based code on rk3288 and before (which is waiting
essentially for the PIE support that is currently being worked on),
SCPI-based clk setting on the rk3368 through a coprocessor, which we
might support once the support for legacy scpi-variants has matured
and now on the rk3399 (and probably later) using a dcf controller that
is controlled from the arm-trusted-firmware and gets accessed through
firmware calls from the kernel. This is the variant we currently
support, but the clock type is made to support the other variants in
the future as well.
Apart from that slightly bigger chunk, we have a mix of PLL rates,
clock-ids and flags mainly for the rk3399.
And interestingly an iomap fix for the legacy gate driver, where I
hopefully could deter the submitter from actually using that in any
new works.

Changing the rate of the DDR clock needs special care, as the DDR
is of course in use and will react badly if the rate changes under it.
Over time different approaches to handle that were used.
Past SoCs like the rk3288 and before would store some code in SRAM
while the rk3368 used a SCPI variant and let a coprocessor handle that.
New rockchip platforms like the rk3399 have a dcf controller to do ddr
frequency scaling, and support for this controller will be implemented
in the arm-trusted-firmware.
This new clock-type should over time handle all these methods for
handling DDR rate changes, but right now it will concentrate on the
SIP interface used to talk to ARM trusted firmware.
The SIP interface counterpart was merged from pull-request #684 [0]
into the upstream arm-trusted-firmware codebase.

__of_clk_get_hw_from_provider() is confusing because it will
return EPROBE_DEFER if there isn't a ->get() or ->get_hw()
function pointer in a provider. That's just a bug though, and we
used to NULL pointer exception when ->get() was missing anyway,
so let's make this more obvious that they're not optional. The
assumption is that most providers will implement ->get_hw() so we
only fallback to the ->get() function if necessary. This
clarifies the intent and removes any possibility of probe defer
happening if clk providers are buggy.

On sunxi we support cpufreq by changing the clock rate of PLL-CPU.
It's possible the clock output of the PLL goes out of the CPU's
operational limits when the PLL's multipliers / dividers are changed
and it hasn't stabilized yet. This would result in the CPU hanging.
To circumvent this, we temporarily switch the CPU mux clock to another
stable clock before the rate change, and switch it back after the PLL
stabilizes. This is done with clk notifiers registered on the PLL.

The Integrator/AP and Integrator/CP have special derivatives
of the ICST525 control registers, where some bits have been
hardwired but others are possible to adjust, resulting in a
control register that makes it possible to set an even,
desired megahertz value.
The Integrator/AP and Integrator/CP have slightly different
layout so we support them using different compatible
strings.
After adding these clocks, the Integrator-specific cpufreq
driver can be switched over to use the generic operating
point device tree cpufreq driver.
Instead of simply writing a value to the oscillator control
register we switch to the more elaborate method of providing
a bitmask and use regmap_update_bits() to poke the right bits
for the desired frequency, this is needed since these control
registers sometimes control more than one clock.

all just listed as critical clocks. Let's do the same for
aclk_emmc_noc.
Without this clock being marked as critical we have problems around
suspend/resume after commit 20c389e656 ("clk: rockchip: fix incorrect

presumably not actually gating any of these clocks because we were

the DIS power domain is during up-powergating process but the clamp to this
domain is not removed yet. That causes a timeout and aborts the power

Before commit 0861e5b8cf (clk: Add clk_hw OF clk providers,
2016-02-05) __of_clk_get_from_provider() would return an error
pointer of the provider's choosing if there was a provider
registered and EPROBE_DEFER otherwise. After that commit, it
would return EPROBE_DEFER regardless of whether or not the
provider returned an error. This is odd and can lead to behavior
where clk consumers keep probe deferring when they should be
seeing some other error.
Let's restore the previous behavior where we only return
EPROBE_DEFER when there isn't a provider in our of_clk_providers
list. Otherwise, return the error from the last provider we find
that matches the node.

These clocks are the ones which will be used as source for the
peripherals of the Armada 3700 SoC. On this SoC there is two blocks of
clocks: the North bridge one and the South bridge one.
Most of them are gatable. Most of the time their rate are their parent
rated divided by a ratio depending of two registers. Their parent can be
choose between the TBG clocks for most of them.
However, some of them can't choose their parent or directly depend of the
xtal clocks. Other ones do not use exactly the same pattern to find the
ratio between their parent rate and their rate.
For these reason each clock is a composite clock and the operations they
use are different depending of the clock.
According to the datasheet it would be possible to select the parent
clock and the ratio, however currently the driver does not support it.

At the same time rename the driver from "twl6040-clk" to "twl6040-pdmclk".

This fix is along the same lines as 5e33ebff7e ("clk: imx7d: do not
set parent of ethernet time/ref clocks") and the explanation from that
commit is:
"The reason for the warning is that setting the parent enables the ENET
PLL since we are using CLK_OPS_PARENT_ENABLE. Enabling the ENET PLL can
cause clk_pllv3_wait_lock to sleep. See also:
commit fc8726a2c0 ("clk: core: support clocks which requires parents
enable (part 2)")."
imx7s-warp does not even use the FEC interface, so we should not really
configure the parent of IMX7D_ENET_AXI_ROOT_SRC in the common MX7 clock
driver code.
The dts file should use the assigned-clocks/assigned-clock-parents method,
so simply remove the configuration of IMX7D_ENET_AXI_ROOT_SRC parent.

It's always nice to see families reunited, and this is equally true when
talking about parent clocks and their children. However, if the orphan
clk had a positive prepare_count or enable_count, then we would not
migrate those counts up the parent chain correctly.
This has manifested with the recent critical clocks feature, which often
enables clocks very early, before their parents have been registered.
Fixed by replacing the call to clk_core_reparent with calls to
__clk_set_parent_{before,after}.

According to the datasheet, SDn clocks are from the SDSRC clock. And
the SDSRC has a 1/2 divider. So, we should have ".sdsrc" as an internal
core clock. Otherwise, since the sdhi driver will calculate clock for
a sd card using the wrong parent clock rate, and then performance will
be not good.

This reverts commit e16fb2e635.
Updated documentation from the chip vendor reveals that this clock is
not required for correct operation of the MMC controller. As such, do
not expose it to DT.

All device trees currently in mainline specify the time clock parent
using the assigned-clocks/assigned-clock-parents method, there is no
need to statically assign the parent in the core clock driver.
Also all current boards provide an Ethernet reference clock for the
PHY externally, hence configuring the internal PHY reference clock.
Furthermore, and the actual driver of this patch, specify ethernet
related parents at that early point in boot leads to a warning:
bad: scheduling from the idle thread!
The reason for the warning is that setting the parent enables the ENET
PLL since we are using CLK_OPS_PARENT_ENABLE. Enabling the ENET PLL can
cause clk_pllv3_wait_lock to sleep. See also:
commit fc8726a2c0 ("clk: core: support clocks which requires parents
enable (part 2)").
Note that setting the ENET AXI root clock parent also requires ENET
PLL to be enabled. However, U-Boot typically leaves the ENET PLL on,
hence when the framework sets the parent of the first clock, it does
not need to wait for the PLL to come up. But because there is currently
no user of that clock, the PLL gets disabled after setting the parent.
Therefore, subsequent reparenting calls of any clock which somehow rely
on the ENET PLL, need to reenable the ENET PLL which leads to a sleep.
Removing those subsequent reparenting calls works around this issue.
Also remove comments. The code is really verbose enough.

In order to allow wake support in STOP sleep mode, clocks are needed. Use
imx_clk_gate2_cgr to disable automatic clock gating in low power mode STOP.
This allows to enable wake by UART using:

However, if wake is not enabled, the driver should disable the clocks explicitly

Hence none of these are being built as a module by anyone.
Lets remove the modular code that is essentially orphaned, so that
when reading the drivers there is no doubt they are builtin-only. All
drivers get mostly the same changes, so they are handled in batch.
Changes are (1) convert to builtin_platform_register, (2) use the
init.h header, (3) delete the MODULE_LICENCE/MODULE_AUTHOR and
associated tags, and (4) delete any ".remove" functions.
There was a stray module.h in a file not using any init.h or
module.h stuff, so we simply removed that one.
In two cases, we explicitly disallow a driver unbind, since that
doesn't have a sensible use case anyway, and it allows us to drop
the ".remove" code for non-modular drivers.
Since module_platform_driver() uses the same init level priority as
builtin_platform_driver() the init ordering remains unchanged with
this commit.
We delete the MODULE_LICENSE etc. tags since all that information
is already contained at the top of each file in the comments.

This adds the EBI2 2X and EBI2 clocks to the MSM8660/APQ8060
GCC. This is necessary to enable clocking of the external bus
interface so that peripherals on it can be mounted. These two
clocks are simple gated branch clocks.
In the vendor tree clock-8x60, these clocks have some kind of
dependency, the EBI2 clock has .depends = &ebi2_2x_clk.c,
what this means is undocumented, it doesn't seem like there
is a parent/child relationship, so the solution I chose was to
just have the EBI2 driver get and enable both clocks.

Formerly clk core does not support imx7d clock type well that all
its clock operations requires the parent clock on.
Therefore we enabled all clocks by default in clock driver
initialization for other module clocks operate well.
After patch 'clk: imx7d: using api with flag CLK_OPS_PARENT_ENABLE',
clk core can handle such clock type well, so we don't have to enable
them all by default anymore. Instead, we only enable a minimum required
set of clocks.

i.MX7D requires all clocks operations including enable/disable,
rate change and re-parent with its parent clock on.
Changing to the correct APIs to tell clk core such requirement.

On Freescale i.MX7D platform, all clocks operations, including
enable/disable, rate change and re-parent, requires its parent clock on.
Current clock core can not support it well.
This patch adding flag CLK_OPS_PARENT_ENABLE to handle this special case in
clock core that enable its parent clock firstly for each operation and
disable it later after operation complete.
The patch part 2 fixes set clock rate and set parent while its parent
is off. The most special case is for set_parent() operation which requires
all parents including both old and new one to be enabled at the same time
during the operation.
