To open a MPTCP socket with socket(AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, IPPROTO_MPTCP),
IPPROTO_MPTCP needs a value that differs from IPPROTO_TCP. The existing
IPPROTO numbers mostly map directly to IANA-specified protocol numbers.
MPTCP does not have a protocol number allocated because MPTCP packets
use the TCP protocol number. Use private number not used OTA.

Match the 16-bit width of skbuff->protocol. Fills an 8-bit hole so
sizeof(struct sock) does not change.
Also take care of BPF field access for sk_type/sk_protocol. Both of them
are now outside the bitfield, so we can use load instructions without
further shifting/masking.
v5 -> v6:
- update eBPF accessors, too (Intel's kbuild test robot)
v2 -> v3:
- keep 'sk_type' 2 bytes aligned (Eric)
v1 -> v2:
- preserve sk_pacing_shift as bit field (Eric)

change the drivers to no longer care about the format of the

The v4l2_timeval_to_ns() function is no longer needed in the
kernel after this, but there is userspace code relying on

The original patch bringed in the "SCTP ACK tracking trace event"
feature was committed at Dec.20, 2017, it replaced jprobe usage
with trace events, and bringed in two trace events, one is
TRACE_EVENT(sctp_probe), another one is TRACE_EVENT(sctp_probe_path).
The original patch intended to trigger the trace_sctp_probe_path in
TRACE_EVENT(sctp_probe) as below code,
+TRACE_EVENT(sctp_probe,
+
+ TP_PROTO(const struct sctp_endpoint *ep,
+ const struct sctp_association *asoc,
+ struct sctp_chunk *chunk),
+
+ TP_ARGS(ep, asoc, chunk),
+
+ TP_STRUCT__entry(
+ __field(__u64, asoc)
+ __field(__u32, mark)
+ __field(__u16, bind_port)
+ __field(__u16, peer_port)
+ __field(__u32, pathmtu)
+ __field(__u32, rwnd)
+ __field(__u16, unack_data)
+ ),
+
+ TP_fast_assign(
+ struct sk_buff *skb = chunk->skb;
+
+ __entry->asoc = (unsigned long)asoc;
+ __entry->mark = skb->mark;
+ __entry->bind_port = ep->base.bind_addr.port;
+ __entry->peer_port = asoc->peer.port;
+ __entry->pathmtu = asoc->pathmtu;
+ __entry->rwnd = asoc->peer.rwnd;
+ __entry->unack_data = asoc->unack_data;
+
+ if (trace_sctp_probe_path_enabled()) {
+ struct sctp_transport *sp;
+
+ list_for_each_entry(sp, &asoc->peer.transport_addr_list,
+ transports) {
+ trace_sctp_probe_path(sp, asoc);
+ }
+ }
+ ),
But I found it did not work when I did testing, and trace_sctp_probe_path
had no output, I finally found that there is trace buffer lock
operation(trace_event_buffer_reserve) in include/trace/trace_events.h:
static notrace void \
trace_event_raw_event_##call(void *__data, proto) \
{ \
struct trace_event_file *trace_file = __data; \
struct trace_event_data_offsets_##call __maybe_unused __data_offsets;\
struct trace_event_buffer fbuffer; \
struct trace_event_raw_##call *entry; \
int __data_size; \
\
if (trace_trigger_soft_disabled(trace_file)) \
return; \
\
__data_size = trace_event_get_offsets_##call(&__data_offsets, args); \
\
entry = trace_event_buffer_reserve(&fbuffer, trace_file, \
sizeof(*entry) + __data_size); \
\
if (!entry) \
return; \
\
tstruct \
\
{ assign; } \
\
trace_event_buffer_commit(&fbuffer); \
}
The reason caused no output of trace_sctp_probe_path is that
trace_sctp_probe_path written in TP_fast_assign part of
TRACE_EVENT(sctp_probe), and it will be placed( { assign; } ) after the
trace_event_buffer_reserve() when compiler expands Macro,
entry = trace_event_buffer_reserve(&fbuffer, trace_file, \
sizeof(*entry) + __data_size); \
\
if (!entry) \
return; \
\
tstruct \
\
{ assign; } \
so trace_sctp_probe_path finally can not acquire trace_event_buffer
and return no output, that is to say the nest of tracepoint entry function
is not allowed. The function call flow is:
trace_sctp_probe()
-> trace_event_raw_event_sctp_probe()
-> lock buffer
-> trace_sctp_probe_path()
-> trace_event_raw_event_sctp_probe_path() --nested
-> buffer has been locked and return no output.
This patch is to remove trace_sctp_probe_path from the TP_fast_assign
part of TRACE_EVENT(sctp_probe) to avoid the nest of entry function,
and trigger sctp_probe_path_trace in sctp_outq_sack.
After this patch, you can enable both events individually,
# cd /sys/kernel/debug/tracing
# echo 1 > events/sctp/sctp_probe/enable
# echo 1 > events/sctp/sctp_probe_path/enable
Or, you can enable all the events under sctp.
# echo 1 > events/sctp/enable

Currently PREEMPT_RCU and TREE_RCU are mutually exclusive Kconfig
options. But PREEMPT_RCU actually specifies a kind of TREE_RCU,
namely a preemptible TREE_RCU. This commit therefore makes PREEMPT_RCU
be a modifer to the TREE_RCU Kconfig option. This has the benefit of
simplifying several of the #if expressions that formerly needed to
check both, but now need only check one or the other.

code. Even though the unsafe usage is mostly gone from the kernel,
having the types and associated functions around means that we
can still grow new users, and that we may be missing conversions
to safe types that actually matter.
There are still a number of driver specific patches needed to
get the last users of these types removed, those have been
submitted to the respective maintainers.

When a process updates the RSS of a different process, the rss_stat
tracepoint appears in the context of the process doing the update. This
can confuse userspace that the RSS of process doing the update is
updated, while in reality a different process's RSS was updated.
This issue happens in reclaim paths such as with direct reclaim or
background reclaim.
This patch adds more information to the tracepoint about whether the mm
being updated belongs to the current process's context (curr field). We
also include a hash of the mm pointer so that the process who the mm
belongs to can be uniquely identified (mm_id field).
Also vsprintf.c is refactored a bit to allow reuse of hashing code.

Useful to track how RSS is changing per TGID to detect spikes in RSS and
memory hogs. Several Android teams have been using this patch in
various kernel trees for half a year now. Many reported to me it is
really useful so I'm posting it upstream.
Initial patch developed by Tim Murray. Changes I made from original
patch: o Prevent any additional space consumed by mm_struct.
Regarding the fact that the RSS may change too often thus flooding the
traces - note that, there is some "hysterisis" with this already. That
is - We update the counter only if we receive 64 page faults due to
SPLIT_RSS_ACCOUNTING. However, during zapping or copying of pte range,
the RSS is updated immediately which can become noisy/flooding. In a
previous discussion, we agreed that BPF or ftrace can be used to rate
limit the signal if this becomes an issue.
Also note that I added wrappers to trace_rss_stat to prevent compiler
errors where linux/mm.h is included from tracing code, causing errors
such as:

- PERAMAENT flag to ftrace_ops when attaching a callback to a function
As /proc/sys/kernel/ftrace_enabled when set to zero will disable all
attached callbacks in ftrace, this has a detrimental impact on live
kernel tracing, as it disables all that it patched. If a ftrace_ops
is registered to ftrace with the PERMANENT flag set, it will prevent
ftrace_enabled from being disabled, and if ftrace_enabled is already
disabled, it will prevent a ftrace_ops with PREMANENT flag set from
being registered.
- New register_ftrace_direct(). As eBPF would like to register its own
trampolines to be called by the ftrace nop locations directly,
without going through the ftrace trampoline, this function has been
added. This allows for eBPF trampolines to live along side of
ftrace, perf, kprobe and live patching. It also utilizes the ftrace
enabled_functions file that keeps track of functions that have been
modified in the kernel, to allow for security auditing.
- Allow for kernel internal use of ftrace instances. Subsystems in
the kernel can now create and destroy their own tracing instances
which allows them to have their own tracing buffer, and be able
to record events without worrying about other users from writing over
their data.
- New seq_buf_hex_dump() that lets users use the hex_dump() in their
seq_buf usage.
- Notifications now added to tracing_max_latency to allow user space
to know when a new max latency is hit by one of the latency tracers.
- Wider spread use of generic compare operations for use of bsearch and
friends.
- More synthetic event fields may be defined (32 up from 16)
- Use of xarray for architectures with sparse system calls, for the
system call trace events.
This along with small clean ups and fixes.

Rework event_create_dir() to use an array of static data instead of
function pointers where possible.
The problem is that it would call the function pointer on module load
before parse_args(), possibly even before jump_labels were initialized.
Luckily the generated functions don't use jump_labels but it still seems
fragile. It also gets in the way of changing when we make the module map
executable.
The generated function are basically calling trace_define_field() with a
bunch of static arguments. So instead of a function, capture these
arguments in a static array, avoiding the function call.
Now there are a number of cases where the fields are dynamic (syscall
arguments, kprobes and uprobes), in which case a static array does not
work, for these we preserve the function call. Luckily all these cases
are not related to modules and so we can retain the function call for
them.
Also fix up all broken tracepoint definitions that now generate a
compile error.

Merge tag 'for-5.5/io_uring-20191121' of git://git.kernel.dk/linux-block
Pull io_uring updates from Jens Axboe:
"A lot of stuff has been going on this cycle, with improving the
support for networked IO (and hence unbounded request completion
times) being one of the major themes. There's been a set of fixes done
this week, I'll send those out as well once we're certain we're fully
happy with them.
This contains:
- Unification of the "normal" submit path and the SQPOLL path (Pavel)
- Support for sparse (and bigger) file sets, and updating of those
file sets without needing to unregister/register again.
- Independently sized CQ ring, instead of just making it always 2x
the SQ ring size. This makes it more flexible for networked
applications.
- Support for overflowed CQ ring, never dropping events but providing
backpressure on submits.
- Add support for absolute timeouts, not just relative ones.
- Support for generic cancellations. This divorces io_uring from
workqueues as well, which additionally gets us one step closer to
generic async system call support.
- With cancellations, we can support grabbing the process file table
as well, just like we do mm context. This allows support for system
calls that create file descriptors, like accept4() support that's
built on top of that.
- Support for io_uring tracing (Dmitrii)
- Support for linked timeouts. These abort an operation if it isn't
completed by the time noted in the linke timeout.
- Speedup tracking of poll requests
- Various cleanups making the coder easier to follow (Jackie, Pavel,
Bob, YueHaibing, me)

RPC tasks on the backchannel never invoke xprt_complete_rqst(), so
there is no way to report their tk_status at completion. Also, any
RPC task that exits via rpc_exit_task() before it is replied to will
also disappear without a trace.
Introduce a trace point that is symmetrical with rpc_task_begin that
captures the termination status of each RPC task.
Sample trace output for callback requests initiated on the server:
kworker/u8:12-448 [003] 127.025240: rpc_task_end: task:50@3 flags=ASYNC|DYNAMIC|SOFT|SOFTCONN|SENT runstate=RUNNING|ACTIVE status=0 action=rpc_exit_task

Add page_pool_update_nid() to be called by page pool consumers when they
detect numa node changes.
It will update the page pool nid value to start allocating from the new
effective numa node.
This is to mitigate page pool allocating pages from a wrong numa node,
where the pool was originally allocated, and holding on to pages that
belong to a different numa node, which causes performance degradation.
For pages that are already being consumed and could be returned to the
pool by the consumer, in next patch we will add a check per page to avoid
recycling them back to the pool and return them to the page allocator.

When Jonathan change the page_pool to become responsible to its
own shutdown via deferred work queue, then the disconnect_cnt
counter was removed from xdp memory model tracepoint.
This patch change the page_pool_inflight tracepoint name to
page_pool_release, because it reflects the new responsability
better. And it reintroduces a counter that reflect the number of
times page_pool_release have been tried.
The counter is also used by the code, to only empty the alloc
cache once. With a stuck work queue running every second and
counter being 64-bit, it will overrun in approx 584 billion
years. For comparison, Earth lifetime expectancy is 7.5 billion

Commit ac0c7cf8be ("btrfs: fix crash when tracepoint arguments are
freed by wq callbacks") added a void pointer, wtag, which is passed into
trace_btrfs_all_work_done() instead of the freed work item. This is
silly for a few reasons:
1. The freed work item still has the same address.
2. work is still in scope after it's freed, so assigning wtag doesn't
stop anyone from using it.
3. The tracepoint has always taken a void * argument, so assigning wtag
doesn't actually make things any more type-safe. (Note that the
original bug in commit bc074524e1 ("btrfs: prefix fsid to all trace
events") was that the void * was implicitly casted when it was passed
to btrfs_work_owner() in the trace point itself).
Instead, let's add some clearer warnings as comments.

The page pool keeps track of the number of pages in flight, and
it isn't safe to remove the pool until all pages are returned.
Disallow removing the pool until all pages are back, so the pool
is always available for page producers.
Make the page pool responsible for its own delayed destruction
instead of relying on XDP, so the page pool can be used without
the xdp memory model.
When all pages are returned, free the pool and notify xdp if the
pool is registered with the xdp memory system. Have the callback
perform a table walk since some drivers (cpsw) may share the pool
among multiple xdp_rxq_info.
Note that the increment of pages_state_release_cnt may result in
inflight == 0, resulting in the pool being released.

There is no 64-bit version of getitimer/setitimer since that is not
actually needed. However, the implementation is built around the
deprecated 'struct timeval' type.
Change the code to use timespec64 internally to reduce the dependencies
on timeval and associated helper functions.
Minor adjustments in the code are needed to make the native and compat
version work the same way, and to keep the range check working after
the conversion.

cgroup ID is currently allocated using a dedicated per-hierarchy idr
and used internally and exposed through tracepoints and bpf. This is
confusing because there are tracepoints and other interfaces which use
the cgroupfs ino as IDs.
The preceding changes made kn->id exposed as ino as 64bit ino on
supported archs or ino+gen (low 32bits as ino, high gen). There's no
reason for cgroup to use different IDs. The kernfs IDs are unique and
userland can easily discover them and map them back to paths using
standard file operations.
This patch replaces cgroup IDs with kernfs IDs.
* cgroup_id() is added and all cgroup ID users are converted to use it.
* kernfs_node creation is moved to earlier during cgroup init so that
cgroup_id() is available during init.
* While at it, s/cgroup/cgrp/ in psi helpers for consistency.
* Fallback ID value is changed to 1 to be consistent with root cgroup
ID.

kernfs_node->id is currently a union kernfs_node_id which represents
either a 32bit (ino, gen) pair or u64 value. I can't see much value
in the usage of the union - all that's needed is a 64bit ID which the
current code is already limited to. Using a union makes the code
unnecessarily complicated and prevents using 64bit ino without adding
practical benefits.
This patch drops union kernfs_node_id and makes kernfs_node->id a u64.
ino is stored in the lower 32bits and gen upper. Accessors -
kernfs[_id]_ino() and kernfs[_id]_gen() - are added to retrieve the
ino and gen. This simplifies ID handling less cumbersome and will
allow using 64bit inos on supported archs.
This patch doesn't make any functional changes.

uniformly use ino_t.

So far we have reserved only relatively high fixed amount of revoke
credits for each transaction. We over-reserved by large amount for most
cases but when freeing large directories or files with data journalling,
the fixed amount is not enough. In fact the worst case estimate is
inconveniently large (maximum extent size) for freeing of one extent.
We fix this by doing proper estimate of the amount of blocks that need
to be revoked when removing blocks from the inode due to truncate or
hole punching and otherwise reserve just a small amount of revoke
credits for each transaction to accommodate freeing of xattrs block or
so.

Drop various work-arounds we have for workqueues:
- We no longer need the async_list for tracking sequential IO.
- We don't have to maintain our own mm tracking/setting.
- We don't need a separate workqueue for buffered writes. This didn't
even work that well to begin with, as it was suboptimal for multiple
buffered writers on multiple files.
- We can properly cancel pending interruptible work. This fixes
deadlocks with particularly socket IO, where we cannot cancel them
when the io_uring is closed. Hence the ring will wait forever for
these requests to complete, which may never happen. This is different
from disk IO where we know requests will complete in a finite amount
of time.
- Due to being able to cancel work interruptible work that is already
running, we can implement file table support for work. We need that
for supporting system calls that add to a process file table.
- It gets us one step closer to adding async support for any system
call.

To trace io_uring activity one can get an information from workqueue and
io trace events, but looks like some parts could be hard to identify via
this approach. Making what happens inside io_uring more transparent is
important to be able to reason about many aspects of it, hence introduce
the set of tracing events.
All such events could be roughly divided into two categories:
* those, that are helping to understand correctness (from both kernel
and an application point of view). E.g. a ring creation, file
registration, or waiting for available CQE. Proposed approach is to
get a pointer to an original structure of interest (ring context, or
request), and then find relevant events. io_uring_queue_async_work
also exposes a pointer to work_struct, to be able to track down
corresponding workqueue events.
* those, that provide performance related information. Mostly it's about
events that change the flow of requests, e.g. whether an async work
was queued, or delayed due to some dependencies. Another important
case is how io_uring optimizations (e.g. registered files) are
utilized.

pull-request: bpf-next 2019-10-27
The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net-next* tree.
We've added 52 non-merge commits during the last 11 day(s) which contain
a total of 65 files changed, 2604 insertions(+), 1100 deletions(-).
The main changes are:
1) Revolutionize BPF tracing by using in-kernel BTF to type check BPF
assembly code. The work here teaches BPF verifier to recognize
kfree_skb()'s first argument as 'struct sk_buff *' in tracepoints
such that verifier allows direct use of bpf_skb_event_output() helper
used in tc BPF et al (w/o probing memory access) that dumps skb data
into perf ring buffer. Also add direct loads to probe memory in order
to speed up/replace bpf_probe_read() calls, from Alexei Starovoitov.
2) Big batch of changes to improve libbpf and BPF kselftests. Besides
others: generalization of libbpf's CO-RE relocation support to now
also include field existence relocations, revamp the BPF kselftest
Makefile to add test runner concept allowing to exercise various
ways to build BPF programs, and teach bpf_object__open() and friends
to automatically derive BPF program type/expected attach type from
section names to ease their use, from Andrii Nakryiko.
3) Fix deadlock in stackmap's build-id lookup on rq_lock(), from Song Liu.
4) Allow to read BTF as raw data from bpftool. Most notable use case
is to dump /sys/kernel/btf/vmlinux through this, from Jiri Olsa.
5) Use bpf_redirect_map() helper in libbpf's AF_XDP helper prog which
manages to improve "rx_drop" performance by ~4%., from Björn Töpel.
6) Fix to restore the flow dissector after reattach BPF test and also
fix error handling in bpf_helper_defs.h generation, from Jakub Sitnicki.
7) Improve verifier's BTF ctx access for use outside of raw_tp, from
Martin KaFai Lau.
8) Improve documentation for AF_XDP with new sections and to reflect
latest features, from Magnus Karlsson.
9) Add back 'version' section parsing to libbpf for old kernels, from
John Fastabend.
10) Fix strncat bounds error in libbpf's libbpf_prog_type_by_name(),
from KP Singh.
11) Turn on -mattr=+alu32 in LLVM by default for BPF kselftests in order
to improve insn coverage for built BPF progs, from Yonghong Song.
12) Misc minor cleanups and fixes, from various others.

On some platforms, DMA mapping part of a page is more costly than
copying bytes. Restore the pull-up code and use that when we
think it's going to be faster. The heuristic for now is to pull-up
when the size of the RPC message body fits in the buffer underlying
the head iovec.
Indeed, not involving the I/O MMU can help the RPC/RDMA transport
scale better for tiny I/Os across more RDMA devices. This is because
interaction with the I/O MMU is eliminated, as is handling a Send
completion, for each of these small I/Os. Without the explicit
unmapping, the NIC no longer needs to do a costly internal TLB shoot
down for buffers that are just a handful of bytes.

qgroup_meta_reserve: 9c7f6acc-b342-4037-bc47-7f6e4d2232d7: refroot=5(FS_TREE) type=0x258792 diff=2
The @type can be completely garbage, as DATA type is not possible for
trace_qgroup_meta_reserve() trace event.
[CAUSE]
Ther are several problems related to qgroup trace events:
- Unassigned entry member
Member entry::type of trace_qgroup_update_reserve() and
trace_qgourp_meta_reserve() is not assigned
- Redundant entry member
Member entry::type is completely useless in
trace_qgroup_meta_convert()

For the sake of tcp_poll(), there are few places where we fetch
sk->sk_wmem_queued while this field can change from IRQ or other cpu.
We need to add READ_ONCE() annotations, and also make sure write
sides use corresponding WRITE_ONCE() to avoid store-tearing.
sk_wmem_queued_add() helper is added so that we can in
the future convert to ADD_ONCE() or equivalent if/when
available.

rxrpc_put_call() calls trace_rxrpc_call() after it has done the decrement
of the refcount - which looks at the debug_id in the call record. But
unless the refcount was reduced to zero, we no longer have the right to
look in the record and, indeed, it may be deleted by some other thread.
Fix this by getting the debug_id out before decrementing the refcount and

If a nohz_full CPU is looping in the kernel, the scheduling-clock tick
might nevertheless remain disabled. In !PREEMPT kernels, this can
prevent RCU's attempts to enlist the aid of that CPU's executions of
cond_resched(), which can in turn result in an arbitrarily delayed grace
period and thus an OOM. RCU therefore needs a way to enable a holdout
nohz_full CPU's scheduler-clock interrupt.
This commit therefore provides a new TICK_DEP_BIT_RCU value which RCU can
pass to tick_dep_set_cpu() and friends to force on the scheduler-clock
interrupt for a specified CPU or task. In some cases, rcutorture needs
to turn on the scheduler-clock tick, so this commit also exports the
relevant symbols to GPL-licensed modules.

Here is the big staging/iio driver update for 5.4-rc1.
Lots of churn here, with a few driver/filesystems moving out of staging
finally:
- erofs moved out of staging
- greybus core code moved out of staging
Along with that, a new filesytem has been added:
- extfat
to provide support for those devices requiring that filesystem (i.e.
transfer devices to/from windows systems or printers.)
Other than that, there a number of new IIO drivers, and lots and lots
and lots of staging driver cleanups and minor fixes as people continue
to dig into those for easy changes.
All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
issues.

the cost of all others. In many use cases including stacking multiple
workload containers in a single system, it's necessary to distribute
IO capacity with better granularity.
One challenge of controlling IO resources is the lack of trivially
observable cost metric. The most common metrics - bandwidth and iops
- can be off by orders of magnitude depending on the device type and
IO pattern. However, the cost isn't a complete mystery. Given
several key attributes, we can make fairly reliable predictions on how
expensive a given stream of IOs would be, at least compared to other
IO patterns.
The function which determines the cost of a given IO is the IO cost
model for the device. This controller distributes IO capacity based
on the costs estimated by such model. The more accurate the cost
model the better but the controller adapts based on IO completion
latency and as long as the relative costs across differents IO
patterns are consistent and sensible, it'll adapt to the actual
performance of the device.
Currently, the only implemented cost model is a simple linear one with
a few sets of default parameters for different classes of device.
This covers most common devices reasonably well. All the
infrastructure to tune and add different cost models is already in
place and a later patch will also allow using bpf progs for cost
models.
Please see the top comment in blk-iocost.c and documentation for
more details.

That makes me very confused since most original EROFS tracepoint code
was taken from f2fs, and finally I found
commit 43c78d8803 ("kbuild: compile-test kernel headers to ensure they are self-contained")
It seems these warnings are generated from KERNEL_HEADER_TEST feature and
ext4/f2fs tracepoint files were in blacklist.
Anyway, let's fix these issues for KERNEL_HEADER_TEST feature instead
of adding to blacklist...

The in-place decryption routines in AF_RXRPC's rxkad security module
currently call skb_cow_data() to make sure the data isn't shared and that
the skb can be written over. This has a problem, however, as the softirq
handler may be still holding a ref or the Rx ring may be holding multiple
refs when skb_cow_data() is called in rxkad_verify_packet() - and so
skb_shared() returns true and __pskb_pull_tail() dislikes that. If this

Use the previously-added transmit-phase skbuff private flag to simplify the
socket buffer tracing a bit. Which phase the skbuff comes from can now be
divined from the skb rather than having to be guessed from the call state.
We can also reduce the number of rxrpc_skb_trace values by eliminating the
difference between Tx and Rx in the symbols.

EROFS filesystem has been merged into linux-staging for a year.
EROFS is designed to be a better solution of saving extra storage
space with guaranteed end-to-end performance for read-only files
with the help of reduced metadata, fixed-sized output compression
and decompression inplace technologies.
In the past year, EROFS was greatly improved by many people as
a staging driver, self-tested, betaed by a large number of our
internal users, successfully applied to almost all in-service
HUAWEI smartphones as the part of EMUI 9.1 and proven to be stable
enough to be moved out of staging.
EROFS is a self-contained filesystem driver. Although there are
still some TODOs to be more generic, we have a dedicated team
actively keeping on working on EROFS in order to make it better
with the evolution of Linux kernel as the other in-kernel filesystems.
As Pavel suggested, it's better to do as one commit since git
can do moves and all histories will be saved in this way.
Let's promote it from staging and enhance it more actively as
a "real" part of kernel for more wider scenarios!

Instead of a globally-contended MR free list, cache MRs in each
rpcrdma_req as they are released. This means acquiring and releasing
an MR will be lock-free in the common case, even outside the
transport send lock.
The original idea of per-rpcrdma_req MR free lists was suggested by
Shirley Ma <shirley.ma@oracle.com> several years ago. I just now
figured out how to make that idea work with on-demand MR allocation.

rxrpc_queue_local() attempts to queue the local endpoint it is given and
then, if successful, prints a trace line. The trace line includes the
current usage count - but we're not allowed to look at the local endpoint
at this point as we passed our ref on it to the workqueue.
Fix this by reading the usage count before queuing the work item.
Also fix the reading of local->debug_id for trace lines, which must be done
with the same consideration as reading the usage count.

The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net-next* tree.
There is a small merge conflict in libbpf (Cc Andrii so he's in the loop
as well):
for (i = 1; i <= btf__get_nr_types(btf); i++) {
t = (struct btf_type *)btf__type_by_id(btf, i);
if (!has_datasec && btf_is_var(t)) {

/*

* big and cause kernel BTF validation failure if
* original variable took less than 4 bytes

t->size = 1;
*(int *)(t+1) = BTF_INT_ENC(0, 0, 8);
} else if (!has_datasec && kind == BTF_KIND_DATASEC) {
=======

/* replace DATASEC with STRUCT */
Conflict is between the two commits 1d4126c4e1 ("libbpf: sanitize VAR to
conservative 1-byte INT") and b03bc6853c ("libbpf: convert libbpf code to
use new btf helpers"), so we need to pick the sanitation fixup as well as
use the new btf_is_datasec() helper and the whitespace cleanup. Looks like
the following:
[...]
if (!has_datasec && btf_is_var(t)) {
/* replace VAR with INT */
t->info = BTF_INFO_ENC(BTF_KIND_INT, 0, 0);
/*
* using size = 1 is the safest choice, 4 will be too
* big and cause kernel BTF validation failure if
* original variable took less than 4 bytes
*/
t->size = 1;
*(int *)(t + 1) = BTF_INT_ENC(0, 0, 8);
} else if (!has_datasec && btf_is_datasec(t)) {
/* replace DATASEC with STRUCT */
[...]

Currently the RCU callbacks for no-CBs CPUs are queued on a series of
ad-hoc linked lists, which means that these callbacks cannot benefit
from "drive-by" grace periods, thus suffering needless delays prior
to invocation. In addition, the no-CBs grace-period kthreads first
wait for callbacks to appear and later wait for a new grace period,
which means that callbacks appearing during a grace-period wait can
be delayed. These delays increase memory footprint, and could even
result in an out-of-memory condition.
This commit therefore enqueues RCU callbacks from no-CBs CPUs on the
rcu_segcblist structure that is already used by non-no-CBs CPUs. It also
restructures the no-CBs grace-period kthread to be checking for incoming
callbacks while waiting for grace periods. Also, instead of waiting
for a new grace period, it waits for the closest grace period that will
cause some of the callbacks to be safe to invoke. All of these changes
reduce callback latency and thus the number of outstanding callbacks,
in turn reducing the probability of an out-of-memory condition.

A common pattern when using xdp_redirect_map() is to create a device map
where the lookup key is simply ifindex. Because device maps are arrays,
this leaves holes in the map, and the map has to be sized to fit the
largest ifindex, regardless of how many devices actually are actually
needed in the map.
This patch adds a second type of device map where the key is looked up
using a hashmap, instead of being used as an array index. This allows maps
to be densely packed, so they can be smaller.

- use hw assissed crc32c on more arches, speedups if native
instructions or optimized implementation is available
- the RAID56 incompat bit is automatically removed when the last
block group of that type is removed
Fixes:
- fsync fix for reflink on NODATACOW files that could lead to ENOSPC
- fix data loss after inode eviction, renaming it, and fsync it
- fix fsync not persisting dentry deletions due to inode evictions
- update ctime/mtime/iversion after hole punching
- fix compression type validation (reported by KASAN)
- send won't be allowed to start when relocation is in progress, this
can cause spurious errors or produce incorrect send stream
Core:
- new tracepoints for space update
- tree-checker: better check for end of extents for some tree items
- preparatory work for more checksum algorithms
- run delayed iput at unlink time and don't push the work to cleaner
thread where it's not properly throttled
- wrap block mapping to structures and helpers, base for further
refactoring
- split large files, part 1:
- space info handling
- block group reservations
- delayed refs
- delayed allocation
- other cleanups and refactoring"

In this round, we've introduced native swap file support which can exploit DIO,
enhanced existing checkpoint=disable feature with additional mount option to
tune the triggering condition, and allowed user to preallocate physical blocks
in a pinned file which will be useful to avoid f2fs fragmentation in append-only
workloads. In addition, we've fixed subtle quota corruption issue.
Enhancement:
- add swap file support which uses DIO
- allocate blocks for pinned file
- allow SSR and mount option to enhance checkpoint=disable
- enhance IPU IOs
- add more sanity checks such as memory boundary access
Bug fix:
- quota corruption in very corner case of error-injected SPO case
- fix root_reserved on remount and some wrong counts
- add missing fsck flag
Some patches were also introduced to clean up ambiguous i_flags and debugging
messages codes.

these changes:
Commit 7196dbb02e ("SUNRPC: Allow changing of the TCP timeout parameters on the fly")
Commit 3851f1cdb2 ("SUNRPC: Limit the reconnect backoff timer to the max RPC message timeout")
Commit 02910177ae ("SUNRPC: Fix reconnection timeouts")
Some common transport code is moved to xprt.c to satisfy the code

Since commit ba69cd122e ("xprtrdma: Remove support for FMR memory
registration"), FRWR is the only supported memory registration mode.
We can take advantage of the asynchronous nature of FRWR's LOCAL_INV
Work Requests to get rid of the completion wait by having the
LOCAL_INV completion handler take care of DMA unmapping MRs and
waking the upper layer RPC waiter.
This eliminates two context switches when local invalidation is
necessary. As a side benefit, we will no longer need the per-xprt
deferred completion work queue.

Now that both the Send and Receive completions are handled in
process context, it is safe to DMA unmap and return MRs to the
free or recycle lists directly in the completion handlers.
Doing this means rpcrdma_frwr no longer needs to track the state of
each MR, meaning that a VALID or FLUSHED MR can no longer appear on
an xprt's MR free list. Thus there is no longer a need to track the
MR's registration state in rpcrdma_frwr.

Under high I/O workloads, I've noticed that an RPC/RDMA transport
occasionally deadlocks (IOPS goes to zero, and doesn't recover).
Diagnosis shows that the sendctx queue is empty, but when sendctxs
are returned to the queue, the xprt_write_space wake-up never
occurs. The wake-up logic in rpcrdma_sendctx_put_locked is racy.
I noticed that both EMPTY_SCQ and XPRT_WRITE_SPACE are implemented
via an atomic bit. Just one of those is sufficient. Removing
EMPTY_SCQ in favor of the generic bit mechanism makes the deadlock
un-reproducible.
Without EMPTY_SCQ, rpcrdma_buffer::rb_flags is no longer used and
is therefore removed.
Unfortunately this patch does not apply cleanly to stable. If
needed, someone will have to port it and test it.

This is a latent bug. xdr_stream_pos works by subtracting
xdr_stream::nwords from xdr_buf::len. But xdr_stream::nwords is not
initialized by xdr_init_encode().
It works today only because all fields in rpcrdma_req::rl_stream
are initialized to zero by rpcrdma_req_create, making the
subtraction in xdr_stream_pos always a no-op.
I found this issue via code inspection. It was introduced by commit
39f4cd9e99 ("xprtrdma: Harden chunk list encoding against send
buffer overflow"), but the code has changed enough since then that
this fix can't be automatically applied to stable.

If the rxrpc_eproto tracepoint is enabled, an oops will be cause by the
trace line that rxrpc_extract_header() tries to emit when a protocol error
occurs (typically because the packet is short) because the call argument is
NULL.
Fix this by using ?: to assume 0 as the debug_id if call is NULL.
This can then be induced by:
echo -e '\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0' | ncat -4u --send-only <addr> 20001
where addr has the following program running on it:
#include <stdio.h>

The bpf_redirect_map() helper used by XDP programs doesn't return any
indication of whether it can successfully redirect to the map index it was
given. Instead, BPF programs have to track this themselves, leading to
programs using duplicate maps to track which entries are populated in the
devmap.
This patch fixes this by moving the map lookup into the bpf_redirect_map()
helper, which makes it possible to return failure to the eBPF program. The
lower bits of the flags argument is used as the return code, which means
that existing users who pass a '0' flag argument will get XDP_ABORTED.
With this, a BPF program can check the return code from the helper call and
react by, for instance, substituting a different redirect. This works for
any type of map used for redirect.
