zram: introduce per-device debug_stat sysfs node
debug_stat sysfs is read-only and represents various debugging data that zram developers may need. This file is not meant to be used by anyone else: its content is not documented and will change any time w/o any notice. Therefore, the output of debug_stat file contains a version string. To avoid any confusion, we will increase the version number every time we modify the output. At the moment this file exports only one value -- the number of re-compressions, IOW, the number of times compression fast path has failed. This stat is temporary any will be useful in case if any per-cpu compression streams regressions will be reported. Merge branch 'stable/for-linus-4.7' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/konrad/ibft
Pull iscsi_ibft updates from Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk: "The pull has two features - both of them expand the SysFS entries: - 'prefix-len' - which is subnet_mask_prefix of the iBFT header. - 'acpi_header' dir with: 'iBFT', OEM-ID (whatever it extracts from the iBFT header) and OEM_TABLE_ID (also whatever it extracts from the iBFT header). This is to help NIC drivers to figure out during bootup how to deal with BIOS created iBFT tables (like by TianoCore UEFI implemenation)" * 'stable/for-linus-4.7' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/konrad/ibft: ibft: Expose iBFT acpi header via sysfs iscsi_ibft: Add prefix-len attr and display netmask |

ibft: Expose iBFT acpi header via sysfs
Some ethernet adapter vendors are supplying products which support optional (payed license) features. On some adapters this includes a hardware iscsi initiator. The same adapters in a normal (no extra licenses) mode of operation can be used as a software iscsi initiator. In addition, software iscsi boot initiators are becoming a standard part of many vendors uefi implementations. This is creating difficulties during early boot/install determining the proper configuration method for these adapters when they are used as a boot device. The attached patch creates sysfs entries to expose information from the acpi header of the ibft table. This information allows for a method to easily determining if an ibft table was created by a ethernet card's firmware or the system uefi/bios. In the case of a hardware initiator this information in combination with the pci vendor and device id can be used to ascertain any vendor specific behaviors that need to be accommodated. dmaengine: qcom_hidma: add support for object hierarchy
In order to create a relationship model between the channels and the management object, we are adding support for object hierarchy to the drivers. This patch simplifies the userspace application development. We will not have to traverse different firmware paths based on device tree or ACPI based kernels. No matter what flavor of kernel is used, objects will be represented as platform devices. The new layout is as follows: hidmam_10: hidma-mgmt@0x5A000000 { compatible = "qcom,hidma-mgmt-1.0"; ... hidma_10: hidma@0x5a010000 { compatible = "qcom,hidma-1.0"; ... } } The hidma_mgmt_init detects each instance of the hidma-mgmt-1.0 objects in device tree and calls into the channel driver to create platform devices for each child of the management object. iio: health/afe440x: Make gain settings a modifier for the stages
Currently the TIA gain settings are exported to userspace as sysfs entries that do not clearly represent their internal relation to the sampling stages. The gain settings are enabled on a per-stage basis, this can be seen in figure 24 of the current AFE4404 datasheet. These gain settings should therefore be tied to the channels that are read during these stages. Make this change here. Signed-off-by: Andrew F. iio: health/afe440x: Remove channel names
These AFEs have 4 ADC mesuring stages (called LED2, ALED2, LED1, and ALED1 in the datasheet), we map these as channels, these stages can serve different purposes depending on the application. For instance the AFE4404 has an additional LED (LED3), this LED can be timed to be active during stage 2 (or anystage, but the datasheet describes this case and the name of the stage reflects this use). This ability is used further in upcoming parts that tie the front-end gain and the LED timings together. For these reasons we remove explicit naming the channels. Without channel names it is best that the index numbers are in order to match the stage number, reorder the channel numbers. Signed-off-by: Andrew F. 2nd set of new device support, features and cleanup for IIO in the 4.7 cycle.
Bit of a bumper set for new drivers but plenty of other stuff here as well! New device support * ad5592R ADC/DAC - new driver supporting ad5592r and ad5593r combined ADC/DAC and gpio chips. * Aosong am2315 relative humidity - new driver with triggered buffer support in follow up patch. * bmi160 imu - new driver * bmp280 - bmp180 support - note there is support in the misc/bmp085 driver. Intent is to remove that driver long term. * invensense mpu6050 - cleanup leading to explicit support of mpu9150 with a good few cleanups along the way. * Hope RF hp03 pressure and temperature sensor. - new driver * maxim DS1803 potentiometer - new driver * maxim max44000 light and proximity sensor - new driver built in a series of steps to support pretty much everything. * ROHM BH1780 light sensor - new driver. There is an existing driver in misc that this is pretty much intended to replace. The discussion on whether to support the non standard interface of that driver is some way is continuing. * st-gyro - lsm9ds0-gyro. The accel/magn side of this will take a while longer as extensions to the st library are needed for cases where two types of sensor share a single i2c address. * ti-adc081c - support the adc101c and adc121c * Vishay VEML6070 UV sensor - new driver. New features * core - devm_ APIs for channel_get and channel_get_all. The first user of these is the generic ADC based thermal driver. As it is going through the thermal tree these will be picked up as a patch to that next cycle as that is how the author preferred to do it. - mounting matrix support. This new core support allows devices to provide to userspace (typically from the device tree) allowing compensation for how the sensor is mounted on the device. First examples are on UAVs but it has a more mundane use on typical phone where the chip may be on the front or the back of the circuit board and soldered at any angle. Includes support for this ABI in ak8975 (which has an older interface, now deprecated) and mpu6050. * tools - add a -a option to enable all available channels in generic_buffer sample. Makes it somewhat easier to use. * adis library and drivers - support manual self test flag clearing. This has technically been broken for a very long time - result is an offset on readings as the applied field is on all the time. * ak8975 - triggered buffer support * bmc150 - spi support (including splitting the driver into core and i2c parts) * bmp280 - oversampling support. * dht11 - improved logging - useful to debug timing issues on this quirky device. * st-sensors - read each channel invidivually as not all support the optimization of reading in bulk. This is technically a fix, but will need to be backported if desired. - support open drain and shared interrupts. * ti-adc081c - triggered buffer support. Cleanups * inkern - white space fix. * ad7606 - use the iio_device_claim_direct_mode call rather than open coding equiv. * ad799x - white space fix. * ad9523 - unsigned -> unsigned int * apds9660 - brace location tidying up. - silence an uninitialized variable warning. * ak8975 - else and brace on same line fix. * at91_adc - white space fixes. * bmc150 - use regmap stored copy of the device pointer rather than having an additional copy. * bmg160 - use regmap stored copy of the device pointer rather than having an additional copy. * hid-sensors - white space fixes. * mcp3422 - white space fix. * mma7455 - use regmap to retrieve the device struct rather than carrying another copy in the private data. * ms_sensors - white space fix. * mxs-lradc - move current bindings out of staging - some will be shortly deprecated but the reality is that we have device trees out there using them so they will need to be supported for some time. They accidentally got left behind when the driver graduated from staging. - white space cleanup. - set INPUT_PROP_DIRECT. - move ts config into a better function. - move the STMP reset out of the ADC init. * vf610_adc - case label indenting fix. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2 iQIcBAABCAAGBQJXHnw8AAoJEFSFNJnE9BaIDsIP/jbvOSDgOyvh4iNqV3ppAfvL yw/CWfKB5oMiqq/ENBNyMcD7kpGoh6ad/2JV1eXRnZsKArTwX6iN0Nu3yPxa+ySn xYc/BoGFwnNei+FqnFEqvK9RFZ3okQEkTW+OJg6eDMGDdL9HojZnALX4BE66QF3E W699vd3nA9SXqQ1UkQ+ozWdybBh2ksOfXknyN/S0sioIeG4MopCIyLMZzBGcDOCN EjdBudZla8VGTWcrp1ofOap6gJ7wKpbtlTPXuAEXtAypnDvuRdH7loTxtzSovNYd u6r9bujc1KUE4ilkYqODd5de4HvKm7aCR2ojlXeKlj+BNaF/uxQoYV/Al5e9CwR8 nnz7c0rVAWIGc2tCiejJOMXB0t4TjVdzXZG9G/maKk1PNFOdUPb9Ul9BsjM28q5s yUneBuKlGFj2K/+E1AmTDRMhStMCMgrXZgyh0GSI07UZsVRnJR7ikUw7tly+J4ki 21qKvTgXMKU+Fzh1HeqVcocq2AHsjlnKWuaB4/YiQzG5V0oGM4rvt78ewSMkmVkR IcIF9yI5XUfDAFdQUtvRlLP6p+qHylMH72aYq8pkMZ43Dq6hukyfx4vkc0Ztw7yS A655/frXiGeU2MFVSM2PYVloLQ5sftL5jDSBiDunzXHAl2WoXppu5Rjc7QvLnzLr vxvvN7MyGvi1GnKxcnYw =zzV9 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'iio-for-4.7b' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jic23/iio into staging-testing Jonathan writes: 2nd set of new device support, features and cleanup for IIO in the 4.7 cycle. iio:imu:mpu6050: enhance mounting matrix support
Add a new rotation matrix sysfs attribute compliant with IIO core mounting matrix API. Matrix is retrieved from "in_anglvel_mount_matrix" and "in_accel_mount_matrix" sysfs attributes. It is declared into mpu6050 DTS entry as a "mount-matrix" property. Old interface is kept for backward userspace compatibility and may be retrieved from legacy platform_data mechanism only. iio:core: mounting matrix support
Expose a rotation matrix to indicate userspace the chip placement with respect to the overall hardware system. This is needed to adjust coordinates sampled from a sensor chip when its position deviates from the main hardware system. Final coordinates computation is delegated to userspace since: * computation may involve floating point arithmetics ; * it allows an application to combine adjustments with arbitrary transformations. This 3 dimentional space rotation matrix is expressed as 3x3 array of strings to support floating point numbers. It may be retrieved from a "[<dir>_][<type>_]mount_matrix" sysfs attribute file. It is declared into a device / driver specific DTS property or platform data. Signed-off-by: Gregor Boirie <gregor.boirie@parrot.com> Signed-off-by: Jonathan Cameron <jic23@kernel.org> |

cxl: Allow initialization on timebase sync failures
Failure to synchronize the PSL timebase currently prevents the initialization of the cxl card, thus rendering the card useless. This is too extreme for a feature which is rarely used, if at all. No hardware AFUs or software is currently using PSL timebase. This patch still tries to synchronize the PSL timebase when the card is initialized, but ignores the error if it can't. Instead, it reports a status via /sys. Signed-off-by: Frederic Barrat <fbarrat@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Acked-by: Ian Munsie <imunsie@au1.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au> |

Drivers * staging wide - convert bare unsigned usage to unsigned int to comply with coding style. * non staging wide: - since boiler plate gpio handling of interrupts has been moved into the ACPI core we don't need to include gpio/consumer.h in a load of drivers so drop it. * ad7606 - fix an endian casting sparse warning. * ak8975 - fix a possible unitialized warning from gcc. - drop and unused field left over from earlier cleanups - fix a missing regulator_disable on exit. * at91-sama5d2 - typo and indentation - missing IOMEM dependency. - cleanup mode register usage by avoidling erasing whole thing when changing the sampling frequency. * bmc150 - use the core demux and available_scan_masks to simplify buffer handling - optimize the transfers in the trigger handler now we have a magic function to emulate bulk reads (under circumstances met here). This matters with some rather dumb i2c adapters in particular. - use a single regmap_conf for all bus types as they were all the same. * bmg160 - use the core demux and available_scan_masks to simplify the buffer handling - optimize the transfers in the trigger handler now we have a magic funciton to emulate bulk rads (under circumstances met here). - drop gpio interrupt probing from the driver (ACPI) as now handled by the ACPI core. * ina2xx-adc - update the CALIB register when RShunt changes. - fix scale for VShunt - in reality this error canceled out when used. * isl29028 - use regmap to retrieve the struct device instead of carrying a second copy of it around. * kxcjk-1013 - use core demux - optimize i2c transfers in the trigger handler. * mcp4531 - refactor to use a pointer to access model parameters instead of indexing into the array each time. * mma8452 - style fixes - avoid swtiching to active whenever the config changes - add missin i2c_device_id for mma8451 * mpu6050 - fix possible NULL dereference. - fix the name / chip_id used when ACPI used (otherwise reports as NULL). * ms5611 - fix a missing regulator_disable that left the regulator on during removal. * mxc4005 - drop gpio interrupt handling for ACPI case from driver as the core now handles this case. * st-sensors - note that there are only ever a maximum of 3 axis on current st-sensors so just allocate a fixed sized buffer big enough for that. * tpl0102 - change the i2c_check_functionality condition to bring it inline with other IIO users as EOPNOTSUPP. * tsl2563 - replace deprecated flush_scheduled_work -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2 iQIcBAABCAAGBQJXAYogAAoJEFSFNJnE9BaIhtsQAK9hsojCFC4EmcE0LdlC7A6r h/Any+ehurHSQIZmAZ1mn8QDBedf6Afpj+jl/qt/DADQk3e3u+TO1TbVHHUDB8Na ynvt1eibnUPAKxjbetUnPfOTaksp2GN8oScjPqk/3xmP1ip/uP3l2DM+jBOspW2K 44UDpKE/aeulyCeG8wBHLY0ySuipQ8ZJyebETM3E94UrNdMHiuMyRA+SEbhcG+0T GyHYrlmPScFlk3xlhuYk7kS6gJQG0xg6u/qyuaBlQMKY1KXMGknU8sxSmqxRmCNn pJ3MeHZY6hFe3PNTgd30z+xbXN4JAifyUBHT2foRF86+f0BJSNIZJo/ynfCPli4z Rl+4M9NziYxw4V6osjKtPBquvk8UV6G/1tcgrr5pNFJor4dk6xRg/xCotYsqZuMX ypWOMuvkPQq+mqf68uJYlE++/A3xHP7aHdOlsXMgM8605KH1aSecbUP2dhRbHdRs u8XTt8Xj6uumQnxUnKjDZGIsDaxyw5JwarjhiNdJaCRgAgFw2qmNiFWYNkBaxxOt BheQBceoHLHDk/qTDsi0b5KDLqvArrbY8L6WBR+gW21isFpho5VDMgBSfNfdObGB nYaYTBcdx6sXm1SC1bMwVcgMnd3Bs4eWJRw79VFz/pFtTOc5Xpj4uVvnNCzuomqb MygKzQb48Gx23saBy4Za =SgQo -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'iio-for-4.7a' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jic23/iio into staging-next Jonathan writes: First round of IIO new device support, features and cleanups for the 4.7 cycle. From the documentation file: "OrangeFS is an LGPL userspace scale-out parallel storage system. It is ideal for large storage problems faced by HPC, BigData, Streaming Video, Genomics, Bioinformatics. Orangefs, originally called PVFS, was first developed in 1993 by Walt Ligon and Eric Blumer as a parallel file system for Parallel Virtual Machine (PVM) as part of a NASA grant to study the I/O patterns of parallel programs. Orangefs features include: - Distributes file data among multiple file servers - Supports simultaneous access by multiple clients - Stores file data and metadata on servers using local file system and access methods - Userspace implementation is easy to install and maintain - Direct MPI support - Stateless" see Documentation/filesystems/orangefs.txt for more in-depth details. * tag 'ofs-pull-tag-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/hubcap/linux: (174 commits) orangefs: fix orangefs_superblock locking orangefs: fix do_readv_writev() handling of error halfway through orangefs: have ->kill_sb() evict the VFS side of things first orangefs: sanitize ->llseek() orangefs-bufmap.h: trim unused junk orangefs: saner calling conventions for getting a slot orangefs_copy_{to,from}_bufmap(): don't pass bufmap pointer orangefs: get rid of readdir_handle_s ornagefs: ensure that truncate has an up to date inode size orangefs: move code which sets i_link to orangefs_inode_getattr orangefs: remove needless wrapper around GFP_KERNEL orangefs: remove wrapper around mutex_lock(&inode->i_mutex) orangefs: refactor inode type or link_target change detection orangefs: use new getattr for revalidate and remove old getattr orangefs: use new getattr in inode getattr and permission orangefs: use new orangefs_inode_getattr to get size in write and llseek orangefs: use new orangefs_inode_getattr to create new inodes orangefs: rename orangefs_inode_getattr to orangefs_inode_old_getattr orangefs: remove inode->i_lock wrapper orangefs: put register_chrdev immediately before register_filesystem ... |

Pull i2c updates from Wolfram Sang: "Mostly usual driver updates and improvements. The changelog should give an idea. Standing out is the i2c-qup driver with lots of new capabilities and we also have now an i2c-demuxer. I'd especially like to welcome Peter Rosin as the i2c-mux maintainer. He has an interesting series for muxes in the queue and agreed to look after this part of the subsystem. Thank you, Peter, and welcome again! The octeon changes were applied pretty recently before the merge window. I am aware. They are the first (and relatively simple) patches of a larger overhaul to this driver. In case something goes wrong with them, they are easy to fix (or revert). The advantage I see is that they are out of the way, and I can concentrate on the next block of patches. I really would like to apply the overhaul in smaller batches to avoid regressions. Pull networking updates from David Miller: "Highlights: 1) Support more Realtek wireless chips, from Jes Sorenson. 2) New BPF types for per-cpu hash and arrap maps, from Alexei Starovoitov. 3) Make several TCP sysctls per-namespace, from Nikolay Borisov. 4) Allow the use of SO_REUSEPORT in order to do per-thread processing of incoming TCP/UDP connections. The muxing can be done using a BPF program which hashes the incoming packet. From Craig Gallek. 5) Add a multiplexer for TCP streams, to provide a messaged based interface. BPF programs can be used to determine the message boundaries. From Tom Herbert. 6) Add 802.1AE MACSEC support, from Sabrina Dubroca. 7) Avoid factorial complexity when taking down an inetdev interface with lots of configured addresses. We were doing things like traversing the entire address less for each address removed, and flushing the entire netfilter conntrack table for every address as well. 8) Add and use SKB bulk free infrastructure, from Jesper Brouer. 9) Allow offloading u32 classifiers to hardware, and implement for ixgbe, from John Fastabend. 10) Allow configuring IRQ coalescing parameters on a per-queue basis, from Kan Liang. 11) Extend ethtool so that larger link mode masks can be supported. From David Decotigny. 12) Introduce devlink, which can be used to configure port link types (ethernet vs Infiniband, etc.), port splitting, and switch device level attributes as a whole. From Jiri Pirko. 13) Hardware offload support for flower classifiers, from Amir Vadai. 14) Add "Local Checksum Offload". Staging driver patches for 4.6-rc1
Here is the big staging driver pull request for 4.6-rc1. Lots of little things here, over 1600 patches or so. Notible is all of the good Lustre work happening, those developers have finally woken up and are cleaning up their code greatly. The Outreachy intern application process is also happening, which brought in another 400 or so patches. Full details are in the very long shortlog. This is the bulk of GPIO changes for kernel v4.6:
Core changes: - The gpio_chip is now a *real device*. Until now the gpio chips were just piggybacking the parent device or (gasp) floating in space outside of the device model. We now finally make GPIO chips devices. The gpio_chip will create a gpio_device which contains a struct device, and this gpio_device struct is kept private. Anything that needs to be kept private from the rest of the kernel will gradually be moved over to the gpio_device. - As a result of making the gpio_device a real device, we have added resource management, so devm_gpiochip_add_data() will cut down on overhead and reduce code lines. A huge slew of patches convert almost all drivers in the subsystem to use this. - Building on making the GPIO a real device, we add the first step of a new userspace ABI: the GPIO character device. We take small steps here, so we first add a pure *information* ABI and the tool "lsgpio" that will list all GPIO devices on the system and all lines on these devices. We can now discover GPIOs properly from userspace. We still have not come up with a way to actually *use* GPIOs from userspace. - To encourage people to use the character device for the future, we have it always-enabled when using GPIO. The old sysfs ABI is still opt-in (and can be used in parallel), but is marked as deprecated. We will keep it around for the foreseeable future, but it will not be extended to cover ever more use cases. Cleanup: - Bjorn Helgaas removed a whole slew of per-architecture <asm/gpio.h> includes. This dates back to when GPIO was an opt-in feature and no shared library even existed: just a header file with proper prototypes was provided and all semantics were up to the arch to implement. These patches make the GPIO chip even more a proper device and cleans out leftovers of the old in-kernel API here and there. Still some cruft is left but it's very little now. - There is still some clamping of return values for .get() going on, but we now return sane values in the vast majority of drivers and the errorpath is sanitized. Some patches for powerpc, blackfin and unicore still drop in. - We continue to switch the ARM, MIPS, blackfin, m68k local GPIO implementations to use gpiochip_add_data() and cut down on code lines. - MPC8xxx is converted to use the generic GPIO helpers. - ATH79 is converted to use the generic GPIO helpers. New drivers: - WinSystems WS16C48 - Acces 104-DIO-48E - F81866 (a F7188x variant) - Qoric (a MPC8xxx variant) - TS-4800 - SPI serializers (pisosr): simple 74xx shift registers connected to SPI to obtain a dirt-cheap output-only GPIO expander. - Texas Instruments TPIC2810 - Texas Instruments TPS65218 - Texas Instruments TPS65912 - X-Gene (ARM64) standby GPIO controller -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iQIcBAABAgAGBQJW6m24AAoJEEEQszewGV1zUasP/RpTrjRcNI5QFHjudd2oioDx R/IljC06Q072ZqVy/MR7QxwhoU8jUnCgKgv4rgMa1OcfHblxC2R1+YBKOUSij831 E+SYmYDYmoMhN7j5Aslr66MXg1rLdFSdCZWemuyNruAK8bx6cTE1AWS8AELQzzTn Re/CPpCDbujLy0ZK2wJHgr9ZkdcBGICtDRCrOR3Kyjpwk/DSZcruK1PDN+VQMI3k bJlwgtGenOHINgCq/16edpwj/hzmoJXhTOZXJHI5XVR6czTwb3SvCYACvCkauI/a /N7b3quG88b5y0OPQPVxp5+VVl9GyVcv5oGzIfTNat/g5QinShZIT4kVV9r0xu6/ TQHh1HlXleh+QI3yX0oRv9ztHreMf+vdpw1dhIwLqHqfJ7AWdOGk7BbKjwCrsOoq t/qUVFnyvooLpyr53Z5JY8+LqyynHF68G+jUQyHLgTZ0GCE+z+1jqNl1T501n3kv 3CSlNYxSN/YUBN3cnroAIU/ZWcV4YRdxmOtEWP+7xgcdzTE6s/JHb2fuEfVHzWPf mHWtJGy8U0IR4VSSEln5RtjhRr0PAjTHeTOGAmivUnaIGDziTowyUVF+X5hwC77E DGTuLVx/Kniv173DK7xNAsUZNAETBa3fQZTgu+RfOpMiM1FZc7tI1rd7K7PjbyCc d2M0gcq+d11ITJTxC7OM =9AJ4 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'gpio-v4.6-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linusw/linux-gpio Pull GPIO updates from Linus Walleij: "This is the bulk of GPIO changes for kernel v4.6. firewire: ABI documentation: libhinawa uses firewire-cdev
Hinawa [https://github.com/takaswie/libhinawa/] is a library for access to IEEE 1394 devices. As a gobject introspection library, it facilitates writing applications in high-level programming languages. Besides generic I/O via /dev/fw* (firewire-cdev ABI), it also supports control of IEEE 1394 audio hardware via ALSA hwdep ABIs which are provided by sound/firewire drivers. dmaengine: add Qualcomm Technologies HIDMA management driver
The Qualcomm Technologies HIDMA device has been designed to support virtualization technology. The driver has been divided into two to follow the hardware design. 1. HIDMA Management driver 2. HIDMA Channel driver Each HIDMA HW consists of multiple channels. These channels share some set of common parameters. These parameters are initialized by the management driver during power up. Same management driver is used for monitoring the execution of the channels. Management driver can change the performance behavior dynamically such as bandwidth allocation and prioritization. The management driver is executed in host context and is the main management entity for all channels provided by the device. Switch attribute wakeup_data from binary to a text attribute. This makes it easier to handle in userspace and allows to use the output of tools like mode2 almost as is to set a wakeup sequence. Changing to a text format and values in microseconds also makes the userspace interface independent of the setting of SAMPLE_PERIOD in the driver. Third set of IIO new device support, features and cleanups for the 4.6 cycle.
Good to see several new contributors in this set - and more generally a number of new 'faces' over this whole cycle. Staging movements * hmc5843 - out of staging. * periodic RTC trigger - driver dropped. This is an ancient driver (brings back some memories ;) that was always somewhat of a bodge. Originally there was a driver that never went into mainline that supported large numbers of periodict timers on the PXA270 via this route. Discussions to have a generic periodic timer subsystem never went anywhere. At the time RTC periodic interrupts were real - now they are emulated using high resolution timers so with the HRT driver this has become pointless. New device support * mpu6050 driver - Add support for the mpu6500. * TI tpl0102 potentiometer - new driver. * Vybrid SoC DAC - new driver. The ADC on this SoC has been supported for a while, this adds a separate driver for the DAC. New Features * hmc5844 - Attributes to configure the bias current (typically part of a self test) This could be done before via a somewhat obscure custom interface. This at least makes it easy to tell what is going on. - Document all custom attributes. * mpu6050 - Add support for calibration offset control and readback. * ms5611 - power regulator support. This is always one that gets added the first time someone has a board that needs it. Here it was needed, hence it was added. Cleanups / minor fixes * tree wide - clean up all the myriad different return values in response to a failure of i2c_check_functionality. After discussions everyone seemed happy wiht -EOPNOTSUPP which seems to describe the situation well. I encouraged a tree wide cleanup to set a good example in future for this. * core - Typos in the iio_event_spec documentation in iio.h * afe4403 - select REGMAP_SPI to avoid dependency issues - mark suspend/resume as __maybe_unused to avoid warnings * |

With this patchset we finally introduce our new routing protocol:
B.A.T.M.A.N. V. Its implementation started quite some years ago, but due to the big changes being introduced it took a while to be discussed, designed, worked, re-worked, tested and debugged (well, we're never done with the latest). The entire operation has basically been a team work involving all the core contributors together with other people interested in the project. The new protocol is divided into two main subcomponents, called respectively ELP and OGMv2. The former is in charge of dealing with the neighbour discovery and link quality estimation, while the latter implements the algorithm that spreads the metrics around the network and computes optimal paths. The biggest change introduced with B.A.T.M.A.N. V is the new metric: the protocol won't rely on packet loss anymore, but it will use the estimated throughput extracted directly from the wifi driver (when available) by querying cfg80211. Batman-adv will also send some unicast probing packets when an interface is not used for payload traffic to make sure that such values are current. The new protocol can be compiled-in or not like other features we have and when selected will pull in CFG80211 as dependency for the reason described above. Thanks to the big work brought up in the past by Marek Lindner, batman-adv can easily deal several protocol implementations, therefore compiling in this new version does not exclude the older. This means that the user is offered the option to choose the protocol when creating the mesh interface (default is the old one to keep backward compatibility). Along with the protocol there are some sysfs knobs that are introduced to fine tune some of its behaviours, but users are recommended to keep the default values unless they know what they are doing. The last patch is about advertising our own patchwork platform (thanks to Sven Eckelmann for having set that up!) in the MAINTAINERS file. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2 iQIcBAABCAAGBQJW1AvOAAoJENpFlCjNi1MRKxsP/1BR8Wh3MrtNhX7MMe7PnZEQ p00kArkjtnZCbBVFbG3JduqYaOPnGyzCLgBgF3DnOxx8gAGUEu6fu4AQNNr9jiUM 4lPnPbe5NuvjzQW27fJDZMuy4Y1FLaJ5DeoYjDH48/YDNS38nzlPPtNwg0pJA2TG C22dM6CX9kzxiy5RETmjgIjK2fgIybudWtCv7BGZxNyiqMaq+bYD+ZJJ6/wbj/FV uKbWB28puJZ3U3qTJ6ygbhAq8moeubp/nbZeh2RGkhpmnS7LKgdLWyPxJLAEza7Z jbdhyAE2xDYaU2xxVdOH9GecSYeUlQ+mrBdEblo2cfKMgShwZBrNjQxCaJIHN3G9 ta44yUpjGFl6/HIQnzfNZD4bTRNnb/DeRTG5qWxdrGAbxZESsMPf1Ph/hZ+KvSZ5 7eSZPmVGRYl8hJaLc25bG8pCOLQRsx/54hXNqYRqmImiPQi4IRvKUQkEDXBpHrT+ EwChfIQvCJSzZQAljrhYP/ytg/CiZxNKgW1u8cJRlHRs3jbBxJUJ67gvf2yWdQdj Luc76uLA1++8QLqhny6AtLeRrr7mYDFnJuNjkwbqWFSyBK6r/lKS1L3ereTfeVIM 5VWMuEDlbWuPscufDJ6WDgWwTqypybjvYbnDlQV7xHap7OegyS/ukQVz2W5lXvS1 gGERfC8WeW1JnFb5TSAY =qd6p -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'batman-adv-for-davem' of git://git.open-mesh.org/linux-merge Antonio Quartulli says: ==================== batman-adv 20160229 this is our (hopefully) latest batch of patches intended for net-next. ima: support for kexec image and initramfs
Add IMA policy support for measuring/appraising the kexec image and initramfs. Two new IMA policy identifiers KEXEC_KERNEL_CHECK and KEXEC_INITRAMFS_CHECK are defined. Example policy rules: measure func=KEXEC_KERNEL_CHECK appraise func=KEXEC_KERNEL_CHECK appraise_type=imasig measure func=KEXEC_INITRAMFS_CHECK appraise func=KEXEC_INITRAMFS_CHECK appraise_type=imasig Moving the enumeration to the vfs layer simplified the patches, allowing the IMA changes, for the most part, to be separated from the other changes. Unfortunately, passing either a kernel_read_file_id or a ima_hooks enumeration within IMA is messy. Option 1: duplicate kernel_read_file enumeration in ima_hooks enum kernel_read_file_id { ... READING_KEXEC_IMAGE, READING_KEXEC_INITRAMFS, READING_MAX_ID enum ima_hooks { ... KEXEC_KERNEL_CHECK KEXEC_INITRAMFS_CHECK Option 2: define ima_hooks as extension of kernel_read_file eg: enum ima_hooks { FILE_CHECK = READING_MAX_ID, MMAP_CHECK, In order to pass both kernel_read_file_id and ima_hooks values, we would need to specify a struct containing a union. struct caller_id { union { enum ima_hooks func_id; enum kernel_read_file_id read_id; }; }; Option 3: incorportate the ima_hooks enumeration into kernel_read_file_id, perhaps changing the enumeration name. For now, duplicate the new READING_KEXEC_IMAGE/INITRAMFS in the ima_hooks. Changelog v4: - replaced switch statement with a kernel_read_file_id to an ima_hooks id mapping array - Dmitry - renamed ima_hook tokens KEXEC_CHECK and INITRAMFS_CHECK to KEXEC_KERNEL_CHECK and KEXEC_INITRAMFS_CHECK respectively - Dave Young Signed-off-by: Mimi Zohar <zohar@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Acked-by: Petko Manolov <petkan@mip-labs.com> Acked-by: Dmitry Kasatkin <dmitry.kasatkin@huawei.com> Cc: Dave Young <dyoung@redhat.com> |

firmware: create directory hierarchy for sysfs fw_cfg entries
Each fw_cfg entry of type "file" has an associated 56-char, nul-terminated ASCII string which represents its name. While the fw_cfg device doesn't itself impose any specific naming convention, QEMU developers have traditionally used path name semantics (i.e. "etc/acpi/rsdp") to descriptively name the various fw_cfg "blobs" passed into the guest. This patch attempts, on a best effort basis, to create a directory hierarchy representing the content of fw_cfg file names, under /sys/firmware/qemu_fw_cfg/by_name. Upon successful creation of all directories representing the "dirname" portion of a fw_cfg file, a symlink will be created to represent the "basename", pointing at the appropriate /sys/firmware/qemu_fw_cfg/by_key entry. If a file name is not suitable for this procedure (e.g., if its basename or dirname components collide with an already existing dirname component or basename, respectively) the corresponding fw_cfg blob is skipped and will remain available in sysfs only by its selector key value. IB/cma: Add configfs for rdma_cm
Users would like to control the behaviour of rdma_cm. For example, old applications which don't set the required RoCE gid type could be executed on RoCE V2 network types. In order to support this configuration, we implement a configfs for rdma_cm. In order to use the configfs, one needs to mount it and mkdir <IB device name> inside rdma_cm directory. The patch adds support for a single configuration file, default_roce_mode. The mode can either be "IB/RoCE v1" or "RoCE v2". IB/core: Add gid attributes to sysfs
This patch set adds attributes of net device and gid type to each GID in the GID table. Users that use verbs directly need to specify the GID index. Since the same GID could have different types or associated net devices, users should have the ability to query the associated GID attributes. Adding these attributes to sysfs. net: cdc_ncm: add "ndp_to_end" sysfs attribute
Adding a writable sysfs attribute for the "NDP to end" quirk flag. This makes it easier for end users to test new devices for this firmware bug. livepatch: function, sympos scheme in livepatch sysfs directory
The following directory structure will allow for cases when the same function name exists in a single object. /sys/kernel/livepatch/<patch>/<object>/<function,sympos> The sympos number corresponds to the nth occurrence of the symbol name in kallsyms for the patched object. usb: core: lpm: add sysfs node for usb3 lpm permit
USB3 LPM is default on in Linux kernel if both xHCI host controller and the USB devices declare to be LPM-capable. Unfortunately, some devices are known to work well with LPM disabled, but to be broken if LPM is enabled, although it declares the LPM capability. Users won't be able to use this kind of devices, until someone puts them in the kernel blacklist and gets the kernel upgraded. This patch adds a sysfs node to permit or forbit USB3 LPM U1 or U2 entry for a port. The settings apply to both before and after device enumeration. Supported values are "0" - neither u1 nor u2 permitted, "u1" - only u1 is permitted, "u2" - only u2 is permitted, "u1_u2" - both u1 and u2 are permitted. With this interface, users can use an LPM-unfriendly USB device on a released Linux kernel.
