6d4257284a drm/i915: Make RING_PDP relative to engine->mmio_base
The PDP registers are an oddity inside the set of context saved
registers in that they take the engine as a parameter to the macro and
not the mmio_base as the others do. Make it accept the engine->mmio_base
for consistency in programming the context registers.

bac24f59f4 drm/i915/execlists: Enable coarse preemption boundaries for gen8
When we introduced preemption, we chose to keep it disabled for gen8 as
supporting preemption inside GPGPU user batches required various w/a in
userspace. Since then, the desire to preempt long queues of requests
between batches (e.g. within busywaiting semaphores) has grown. So allow
arbitration within the busywaits and between requests, but disable
arbitration within user batches so that we can preempt between requests
and not risk breaking GPGPU.

However, since this preemption is much coarser and doesn't interfere
with userspace, we decline to include it amongst the scheduler
capabilities. (This is also required for us to skip over the preemption
selftests that expect to be able to preempt user batches.)

Michal suggested that we could perhaps allow preemption inside gen8
userspace batches if we can satisfy ourselves that the default
preemption settings are viable with existing userspace (principally
OpenCL which already should carry any known workaround). We could then
merge the two code paths back into one, even dropping the artifical
has-preemption device feature flag.

3a891a6267 drm/i915: Move intel_engine_mask_t around for use by i915_request_types.h
We want to use intel_engine_mask_t inside i915_request.h, which means

ea593dbba4 drm/i915: Allow contexts to share a single timeline across all engines
Previously, our view has been always to run the engines independently
within a context. (Multiple engines happened before we had contexts and
timelines, so they always operated independently and that behaviour
persisted into contexts.) However, at the user level the context often
represents a single timeline (e.g. GL contexts) and userspace must
ensure that the individual engines are serialised to present that
ordering to the client (or forgot about this detail entirely and hope no
one notices - a fair ploy if the client can only directly control one
engine themselves ;)

In the next patch, we will want to construct a set of engines that
operate as one, that have a single timeline interwoven between them, to
present a single virtual engine to the user. (They submit to the virtual
engine, then we decide which engine to execute on based.)

To that end, we want to be able to create contexts which have a single
timeline (fence context) shared between all engines, rather than multiple
timelines.

v2: Move the specialised timeline ordering to its own function.

0881954965 drm/i915: Introduce intel_context.pin_mutex for pin management
Introduce a mutex to start locking the HW contexts independently of
struct_mutex, with a view to reducing the coarse struct_mutex. The
intel_context.pin_mutex is used to guard the transition to and from being
pinned on the gpu, and so is required before starting to build any
request. The intel_context will then remain pinned until the request
completes, but the mutex can be released immediately unpin completion of
pinning the context.

A slight variant of the above is used by per-context sseu that wants to
inspect the pinned status of the context, and requires that it remains
stable (either !pinned or pinned) across its operation. By using the
pin_mutex to serialise operations while pin_count==0, we can take that
pin_mutex for stabilise the boolean pin status.

This came up in considering how to handle context recovery from

order to rebuild the mesa context from scratch. In doing so, if the
device was wedged and not the context banned, we would fall into a loop
of permanently trying to recreate the context and never making forward
progress. This patch would inform the client that we are no longer able
to create a context, and the client would have no choice but to abort
(or at least inform its callers about the lost device for anv).

7f4127c483 drm/i915: Use time based guilty context banning
Currently, we accumulate each time a context hangs the GPU, offset
against the number of requests it submits, and if that score exceeds a
certain threshold, we ban that context from submitting any more requests
(cancelling any work in flight). In contrast, we use a simple timer on
the file, that if we see more than a 9 hangs faster than 60s apart in
total across all of its contexts, we will ban the client from creating
any more contexts. This leads to a confusing situation where the file
may be banned before the context, so lets use a simple timer scheme for
each.

If the context submits 3 hanging requests within a 120s period, declare
it forbidden to ever send more requests.

This has the advantage of not being easy to repair by simply sending
empty requests, but has the disadvantage that if the context is idle
then it is forgiven. However, if the context is idle, it is not
disrupting the system, but a hog can evade the request counting and
cause much more severe disruption to the system.

Updating ban_score from request retirement is dubious as the retirement
is purposely not in sync with request submission (i.e. we try and batch
retirement to reduce overhead and avoid latency on submission), which
leads to surprising situations where we can forgive a hang immediately
due to a backlog of requests from before the hang being retired
afterwards.

ba4fda620a drm/i915: Optionally disable automatic recovery after a GPU reset
Some clients, such as mesa, may only emit minimal incremental batches
that rely on the logical context state from previous batches. They know
that recovery is impossible after a hang as their required GPU state is
lost, and that each in flight and subsequent batch will hang (resetting
the context image back to default perpetuating the problem).

To avoid getting into the state in the first place, we can allow clients
to opt out of automatic recovery and elect to ban any guilty context
following a hang. This prevents the continual stream of hangs and allows
the client to recreate their context and rebuild the state from scratch.

v2: Prefer calling it recoverable rather than unrecoverable.

21950ee7cc drm/i915: Pull i915_gem_active into the i915_active family
Looking forward, we need to break the struct_mutex dependency on
i915_gem_active. In the meantime, external use of i915_gem_active is
quite beguiling, little do new users suspect that it implies a barrier
as each request it tracks must be ordered wrt the previous one. As one
of many, it can be used to track activity across multiple timelines, a
shared fence, which fits our unordered request submission much better. We
need to steer external users away from the singular, exclusive fence
imposed by i915_gem_active to i915_active instead. As part of that
process, we move i915_gem_active out of i915_request.c into
i915_active.c to start separating the two concepts, and rename it to
i915_active_request (both to tie it to the concept of tracking just one
request, and to give it a longer, less appealing name).

e46c2e99f6 drm/i915: Expose RPCS (SSEU) configuration to userspace (Gen11 only)
We want to allow userspace to reconfigure the subslice configuration on a
per context basis.

This is required for the functional requirement of shutting down non-VME
enabled sub-slices on Gen11 parts.

To do so, we expose a context parameter to allow adjustment of the RPCS
register stored within the context image (and currently not accessible via
LRI).

If the context is adjusted before first use or whilst idle, the adjustment
is for "free"; otherwise if the context is active we queue a request to do
so (using the kernel context), following all other activity by that
context, which is also marked as barrier for all following submission
against the same context.

Since the overhead of device re-configuration during context switching can
be significant, especially in multi-context workloads, we limit this new
uAPI to only support the Gen11 VME use case. In this use case either the
device is fully enabled, and exactly one slice and half of the subslices
are enabled.

Example usage:

	struct drm_i915_gem_context_param_sseu sseu = { };
	struct drm_i915_gem_context_param arg = {
		.param = I915_CONTEXT_PARAM_SSEU,
		.ctx_id = gem_context_create(fd),
		.size = sizeof(sseu),
		.value = to_user_pointer(&sseu)
	};

	/* Query device defaults. */
	gem_context_get_param(fd, &arg);

	/* Set VME configuration on a 1x6x8 part. */

52c0fdb25c drm/i915: Replace global breadcrumbs with per-context interrupt tracking
A few years ago, see commit 688e6c7258 ("drm/i915: Slaughter the
thundering i915_wait_request herd"), the issue of handling multiple
clients waiting in parallel was brought to our attention. The
requirement was that every client should be woken immediately upon its
request being signaled, without incurring any cpu overhead.

To handle certain fragility of our hw meant that we could not do a
simple check inside the irq handler (some generations required almost
unbounded delays before we could be sure of seqno coherency) and so
request completion checking required delegation.

Before commit 688e6c7258, the solution was simple. Every client
waiting on a request would be woken on every interrupt and each would do
a heavyweight check to see if their request was complete. Commit
688e6c7258 introduced an rbtree so that only the earliest waiter on
the global timeline would woken, and would wake the next and so on.
(Along with various complications to handle requests being reordered
along the global timeline, and also a requirement for kthread to provide
a delegate for fence signaling that had no process context.)

The global rbtree depends on knowing the execution timeline (and global
seqno). Without knowing that order, we must instead check all contexts
queued to the HW to see which may have advanced. We trim that list by
only checking queued contexts that are being waited on, but still we
keep a list of all active contexts and their active signalers that we
inspect from inside the irq handler. By moving the waiters onto the fence
signal list, we can combine the client wakeup with the dma_fence
signaling (a dramatic reduction in complexity, but does require the HW
being coherent, the seqno must be visible from the cpu before the
interrupt is raised - we keep a timer backup just in case).

Having previously fixed all the issues with irq-seqno serialisation (by
inserting delays onto the GPU after each request instead of random delays
on the CPU after each interrupt), we can rely on the seqno state to
perfom direct wakeups from the interrupt handler. This allows us to
preserve our single context switch behaviour of the current routine,
with the only downside that we lose the RT priority sorting of wakeups.
In general, direct wakeup latency of multiple clients is about the same
(about 10% better in most cases) with a reduction in total CPU time spent
in the waiter (about 20-50% depending on gen). Average herd behaviour is
improved, but at the cost of not delegating wakeups on task_prio.

v2: Capture fence signaling state for error state and add comments to
warm even the most cold of hearts.
v3: Check if the request is still active before busywaiting
v4: Reduce the amount of pointer misdirection with list_for_each_safe
and using a local i915_request variable inside the loops
v5: Add a missing pluralisation to a purely informative selftest message.

GVT GEM context is created by i915_gem_context_create_gvt() which
doesn't allocate ppgtt. So GVT GEM context structure doesn't have
a valid i915_hw_ppgtt.

This patch create ppgtt table at GVT GEM context creation, then assign
shadow ppgtt's root table address to this ppgtt when shadow ppgtt will
be used on GPU. So GVT GEM context has valid ppgtt address. But note
that this ppgtt only contain valid ppgtt root table address, the table
entry in this ppgtt structure are invalid.

7651a4452d drm/i915: Reserve some priority bits for internal use
In the next few patches, we will want to give a small priority boost to
some requests/queues but not so much that we perturb the user controlled
order. As such we will shift the user priority bits higher leaving
ourselves a few low priority bits for our internal bumping.

4bdafb9ddf drm/i915: Remove i915.enable_ppgtt override
Now that we are confident in providing full-ppgtt where supported,
remove the ability to override the context isolation.

v2: Remove faked aliasing-ppgtt for testing as it no longer is accepted.
v3: s/USES/HAS/ to match usage and reject attempts to load the module on
old GVT-g setups that do not provide support for full-ppgtt.
v4: Insulate ABI ppGTT values from our internal enum (later plans
involve moving ppGTT depth out of the enum, thus potentially breaking
ABI unless we document the current values).

d3f3e5e438 drm/i915: Nuke struct_mutex from context_setparam
Userspace should be free to race against itself and shoot itself in
the foot if it so desires to adjust a parameter at the same time as
submitting a batch to that context. As such, the struct_mutex in context
setparam is only being used to serialise userspace against itself and
not for any protection of internal structs and so is superfluous.

v2: Separate user_flags from internal flags to reduce chance of
interference; and use locked bit ops for user updates.

288f1ced5e drm/i915: Reduce context HW ID lifetime
Future gen reduce the number of bits we will have available to
differentiate between contexts, so reduce the lifetime of the ID
assignment from that of the context to its current active cycle (i.e.
only while it is pinned for use by the HW, will it have a constant ID).
This means that instead of a max of 2k allocated contexts (worst case
before fun with bit twiddling), we instead have a limit of 2k in flight
contexts (minus a few that have been pinned by the kernel or by perf).

To reduce the number of contexts id we require, we allocate a context id
on first and mark it as pinned for as long as the GEM context itself is,
that is we keep it pinned it while active on each engine. If we exhaust
our context id space, then we try to reclaim an id from an idle context.
In the extreme case where all context ids are pinned by active contexts,
we force the system to idle in order to recover ids.

We cannot reduce the scope of an HW-ID to an engine (allowing the same
gem_context to have different ids on each engine) as in the future we
will need to preassign an id before we know which engine the
context is being executed on.

496bcce3c9 drm/i915: Remove unnecessary ggtt_offset_bias from i915_gem_context
Since ggtt_offset_bias is now stored in ggtt.pin_bias, it is duplicated
inside i915_gem_context, and can instead be accessed directly from ggtt.

v3:
Added a helper function to retrieve the ggtt.pin_bias from the vma.

v4:
Moved the helper function to the previous patch in the series.
Dropped the bias from intel_ring_pin. This introduces a slight functional
change since we are always pinning the ring a bit higher if GuC is present
even though we don't really need to.

v8:
Fixed patch not applying on the most recent upstream.

dd18cedfa3 drm/i915/guc: Move the pin bias value from GuC to GGTT
Removing the pin bias from GuC allows us to not check for GuC every time
we pin a context, which fixes the assertion error on unresolved GuC
platform default in mock contexts selftest.

It also seems that we were using uninitialized WOPCM variables when
setting the GuC pin bias. The pin bias has to be set after the WOPCM,
but before the call to i915_gem_contexts_init where the first contexts
are pinned.

v2:
This also makes it so that there's no need to set GuC variables from
within the WOPCM init function or to move the WOPCM init, while keeping
the correct initialization order. Also for mock tests the pin bias is
left at 0 and we make sure that the pin bias with GuC will not be
smaller than without GuC.

v3:
Avoid unused i915 in intel_guc_ggtt_offset if debug is disabled.

v4:
Squash with WOPCM init reordering.
Moved the i915_ggtt_pin_bias helper to this patch, and made some
functions use it instead of directly dereferencing i915->ggtt.

v5:
Since we now don't use wopcm.guc.base for the pin bias there's no need to
validate it. It also has already been verified in WOPCM init.

v6:
Deleted the now unnecessarily introduced includes from previous versions.
Dropped naming changes from dev_priv to i915 for better patch readability.

v7:
Changed some comments to make more sense in the context they're in.

v8:
Moved and renamed the function which now returns the wopcm.guc.size to
intel_guc.c:intel_guc_reserved_gtt_size to avoid any possible confusion
with the pin_bias in ggtt, which should be used for pinning.
Fixed patch not applying or the most recent upstream.
