DeviceTree update for 4.8:
- Removal of most of_platform_populate() calls in arch code. Now the DT core code calls it in the default case and platforms only need to call it if they have special needs. - Use pr_fmt on all the DT core print statements. - CoreSight binding doc improvements to block name descriptions. - Add dt_to_config script which can parse dts files and list corresponding kernel config options. - Fix memory leak hit with a PowerMac DT. - Correct a bunch of STMicro compatible strings to use the correct vendor prefix. - Fix DA9052 PMIC binding doc to match what is actually used in dts files. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iQIcBAABAgAGBQJXm9KcAAoJEPr7XbWNvGHDRT4QAIIIOSB4AWHardnMLROgGge9 aOQKZ/05O9feOcxYKe8FkQbcH+IujJjrUL+yrRD36yGQPAyBP21gtcmmfrkCcwFM kH915f/JbGvXpfwEf8dcarHhzYH6FFJiQGduPpWfwSSWynx+xq5EKPwCqYzMg8bN SExxt7vUx1MKFOExZ0K8BNCo8VMVLUWQoJ1DNeJDuL25Op4EU3i2l1HQNYV/3XDk BSA3x7Lw3GjrWEH20VWYn2Azq1OFLY+E2FC2lnG4nbkk5X8dZbUH9PR1Sk7uTQDj uxTjWe59NBpliCxKSAbMbTAU/WwSB1pJ0I+zDJBiQsdFT+nb5F4zOrs3qSKHa/A9 Rv6AC8k5gdSMrDB1dOspfF2vWvOOInXgNV4/Kza0D92mbCpwyUuF+vhE6rfcMrZU OiD7rj2/fvO7Y9fUAhrp6zrfrOfH9B1Z9vS+940AlK96YwPE2+J0SA2vBxR/wg8H 7fj4Ud5X+SFisXWQhh5Wlv0W9o6e7C7fsi8vpkQ7gufmezLFWVnJKsUfQaxGEwhG Hkhm9kuSHHMd+6dEnn2756DnNfJAtQv6rSR0/QR4Lf9y5L4dvR3kAQIci8X/nx4P sIk+IJWGZG6wziZq59hh+SO6HEqdSNuvh+5sbR0iUimdE/1HsDBdPiocXf/r8iwK NY9nGeZPRrXmFgdpoZfm =wLMr -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'devicetree-for-4.8' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/robh/linux Pull DeviceTree updates from Rob Herring: - remove most of_platform_populate() calls in arch code. The bulk of the changes are updates and fixes to existing clk provider
drivers, along with a pretty standard number of new drivers. The core recieved a small number of updates as well. Core changes of note: * Removed CLK_IS_ROOT flag New clk provider drivers: * Renesas r8a7796 Clock Pulse Generator / Module Standby and Software Reset * Allwinner sun8i H3 Clock Controller Unit * AmLogic meson8b clock controller (rewritten) * AmLogic gxbb clock controller * Support for some new ICs was added by simple changes to static data tables for chips sharing the same family Driver updates of note: * the Allwinner sunxi clock driver infrastucture was rewritten to comform to the state of the art at drivers/clk/sunxi-ng. The old implementation is still supported for backwards compatibility with the DT ABI -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQIcBAABCAAGBQJXm9LNAAoJEKI6nJvDJaTUHYcP/1oKTHA4uSPux2+5l9vApEJc eSV0oSEP/zDDwYfV4xRt1byAOtzHe3R4p5zDGShnk3+CCwXbQSLGmFJFmZDoSs5E ulftXA8uRV4ac0SEh86BOlstdJHGOVo7Q38XtdPvgKRTv58+ZqHuFcvB726bWY/I GMzVTkpugbn5U7e3MLM58gkBoqa8BS9uIdsf5q/JIxdpe+VgUtjmioH9Rz6G5U5Y T6ObeU6HNusDaz6kUJIiAEkl4UNHk+aebnY7FTbwd9JGGySp5nEknVY7tSMeC6iU hG/knzdMiasa5yv0xdW3/OxnKCQtEeuPPHnJDSXWc9yb20vNs2QhRtd8uckMGHOH X7fXq9xoLxDH81AggW188g7+xfhx7J+ASpjHmHs74itUIoqhhy61PM3I95yQ8m6s QDkInqSszFd2C7OiYsy6m5XS0K8g0jyA2tzWhxlIZNVAl7yP71+HVLJ45NNKCPkb oYbMx4ho538Tl6+c6HHJG0vC3XWSdHbvwMOKyE9k/GyrIJ7FxLZS3BLOYPm6u9t4 9n041MbtBb/UrWVi8kMSdmBjIIs6VSGjq5gwRFAqoPQt3VkPuy0IfnwIpjdE1aFz PbDJQF4ze7D3JgH2rWtivXbCTRthTANmoar299xjSwwb99TSlP2IABY3cNnJrhPr 9/PGShM3hqRpBEUnEmt+ =1dpY -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'clk-for-linus-4.8' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/clk/linux Pull clk updates from Michael Turquette: "The bulk of the changes are updates and fixes to existing clk provider drivers, along with a pretty standard number of new drivers. documentation: da9052: Update regulator bindings names to match DA9052/53 DTS expectations
Buck and LDO binding name changes. The binding names for the regulators have been changed to match the current expectation from existing device tree source files. This fix rectifies the disparity between what currently exists in some .dts[i] board files and what is listed in this binding document. This change re-aligns those differences and also brings the binding document in-line with the expectations of the product datasheet from Dialog Semiconductor. Bucks and LDOs now follow the expected notation: { buck1, buck2, buck3, buck4 } { ldo1, ldo2, ldo3, ldo4, ldo5, ldo6, ldo7, ldo8, ldo9, ldo10 } Signed-off-by: Steve Twiss <stwiss.opensource@diasemi.com> Signed-off-by: Rob Herring <robh@kernel.org> |

libnvdimm for 4.8
1/ Replace pcommit with ADR / directed-flushing: The pcommit instruction, which has not shipped on any product, is deprecated. Instead, the requirement is that platforms implement either ADR, or provide one or more flush addresses per nvdimm. ADR (Asynchronous DRAM Refresh) flushes data in posted write buffers to the memory controller on a power-fail event. Flush addresses are defined in ACPI 6.x as an NVDIMM Firmware Interface Table (NFIT) sub-structure: "Flush Hint Address Structure". A flush hint is an mmio address that when written and fenced assures that all previous posted writes targeting a given dimm have been flushed to media. 2/ On-demand ARS (address range scrub): Linux uses the results of the ACPI ARS commands to track bad blocks in pmem devices. When latent errors are detected we re-scrub the media to refresh the bad block list, userspace can also request a re-scrub at any time. 3/ Support for the Microsoft DSM (device specific method) command format. 4/ Support for EDK2/OVMF virtual disk device memory ranges. 5/ Various fixes and cleanups across the subsystem. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iQIcBAABAgAGBQJXmXBsAAoJEB7SkWpmfYgCEwwP/1IOt9ocP+iHLMDH9KE7VaTZ NmUDR+Zy6g5cRQM7SgcuU5BXUcx+OsSrSrUTVF1cW994o9Gbz1mFotkv0ZAsPcYY ZVRQxo2oqHrssyOcg+PsgKWiXn68rJOCgmpEyzaJywl5qTMst7pzsT1s1f7rSh6h trCf4VaJJwxZR8fARGtlHUnnhPe2Orp99EZRKEWprAsIv2kPuWpPHSjRjuEgN1JG KW8AYwWqFTtiLRUk86I4KBB0wcDrfctsjgN9Ogd6+aHyQBRnVSr2U+vDCFkC8KLu qiDCpYp+yyxBjclnljz7tRRT3GtzfCUWd4v2KVWqgg2IaobUc0Lbukp/rmikUXQP WLikT2OCQ994eFK5OX3Q3cIU/4j459TQnof8q14yVSpjAKrNUXVSR5puN7Hxa+V7 41wKrAsnsyY1oq+Yd/rMR8VfH7PHx3bFkrmRCGZCufLX1UQm4aYj+sWagDKiV3yA DiudghbOnhfurfGsnXUVw7y7GKs+gNWNBmB6ndAD6ZEHmKoGUhAEbJDLCc3DnANl b/2mv1MIdIcC1DlCmnbbcn6fv6bICe/r8poK3VrCK3UgOq/EOvKIWl7giP+k1JuC 6DdVYhlNYIVFXUNSLFAwz8OkLu8byx7WDm36iEqrKHtPw+8qa/2bWVgOU6OBgpjV cN3edFVIdxvZeMgM5Ubq =xCBG -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'libnvdimm-for-4.8' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/nvdimm/nvdimm Pull libnvdimm updates from Dan Williams: - Replace pcommit with ADR / directed-flushing. mm, vmscan: move lru_lock to the node
Node-based reclaim requires node-based LRUs and locking. This is a preparation patch that just moves the lru_lock to the node so later patches are easier to review. It is a mechanical change but note this patch makes contention worse because the LRU lock is hotter and direct reclaim and kswapd can contend on the same lock even when reclaiming from different zones. SCSI misc on 20160727
This update includes the usual round of driver updates (fcoe, lpfc, ufs, qla2xxx, hisi_sas). spi: Updates for v4.8
Quite a lot of cleanup and maintainence work going on this release in various drivers, and also a fix for a nasty locking issue in the core: - A fix for locking issues when external drivers explicitly locked the bus with spi_bus_lock() - we were using the same lock to both control access to the physical bus in multi-threaded I/O operations and exclude multiple callers. Confusion between these two caused us to have scenarios where we were dropping locks. This is the bulk of GPIO changes for the v4.8 kernel cycle.
Core changes: - The big item is of course the completion of the character device ABI. It has now replaced and surpassed the former unmaintainable sysfs ABI: we can now hammer (bitbang) individual lines or sets of lines and read individual lines or sets of lines from userspace, and we can also register to listen to GPIO events from userspace. As a tie-in we have two new tools in tools/gpio: gpio-hammer and gpio-event-mon that illustrate the proper use of the new ABI. As someone said: the wild west days of GPIO are now over. - Continued to remove the pointless ARCH_[WANT_OPTIONAL|REQUIRE]_GPIOLIB Kconfig symbols. I'm patching hexagon, openrisc, powerpc, sh, unicore, ia64 and microblaze. These are either ACKed by their maintainers or patched anyways after a grace period and no response from maintainers. Some archs (ARM) come in from their trees, and others (x86) are still not fixed, so I might send a second pull request to root it out later in this merge window, or just defer to v4.9. - The GPIO tools are moved to the tools build system. New drivers: - New driver for the MAX77620/MAX20024. - New driver for the Intel Merrifield. - Enabled PCA953x for the TI PCA9536. - Enabled PCA953x for the Intel Edison. - Enabled R8A7792 in the RCAR driver. Driver improvements: - The STMPE and F7188x now supports the .get_direction() callback. - The Xilinx driver supports setting multiple lines at once. - ACPI support for the Vulcan GPIO controller. - The MMIO GPIO driver supports device tree probing. - The Acer One 10 is supported through the _DEP ACPI attribute. Cleanups: - A major cleanup of the OF/DT support code. It is way easier to read and understand now, probably this improves performance too. - Drop a few redundant .owner assignments. - Remove CLPS711x boardfile support: we are 100% DT. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iQIcBAABAgAGBQJXlcT4AAoJEEEQszewGV1zACwQAK5SZr0F5c3QvYbJSiJBCGA7 MZKUYHnYoBpZaPKcFKoOXEM1WOvlABlh9U0y0xkL8gQ6giyKup1wYJJCuYgW29gL ny4r7Z8rs2Wm1ujL+FLAwuxIwCY3BnhUucp8YiSaHPBuKRfsHorFPvXiAgLZjNYC Qk3Q48xYW4inw9sy2BbMfsU3CZnkvgy5euooyy1ezwachRhuHdBy/MVCG012PC4s 0d6LGdByEx1uK4NeV7ssPys444M8unep2EWgy6Rvc1U+FmGA487EvL+X8nxTQTj3 uTMxA8nddmZTEeEIqhpRw/dPiFlWxPFwfWmNEre05gKLb/LUK2tgsUOnmIFgVUw/ t41IzdQNLQQZxmiXplZn6s5mAr2VNuTxkRq1CIl4SwQW+Uy4TU3q8aDPkKzsyhiR yw6o6ul0pQs8UZEggnht8ie6JiSnJ55ehI/nlRxpK/797Ff6Yp4FARs3ZtFnQDDu SWewnbRatZQ89lvy4BA7QCWeV4Scjk4k/e2HjUAFnkfMDaYqpi4vTdzwnWdVjd+F hMgu6VnkN3oSE7ZMrKJMh7b7h1uMnIwKBFWbkrlOEuhT1X0ZDsEOBv5juSBPYomN EOIJUyWqxn0ZfxeONbdbCPteYlfJF+TW/rE9LQMxS1nNwsqw2IQW6NCmrM9Nx6Fv FP++26nYMTSh82gwOYw3 =NwcK -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'gpio-v4.8-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linusw/linux-gpio Pull GPIO updates from Linus Walleij: "This is the bulk of GPIO changes for the v4.8 kernel cycle. The big news is the completion of the chardev ABI which I'm very happy about and apart from that it's an ordinary, quite busy cycle. The details are below. The patches are tested in linux-next for some time, patches to other subsystem mostly have ACKs. I got overly ambitious with configureing lines as input for IRQ lines but it turns out that some controllers have their interrupt-enable and input-enabling in orthogonal settings so the assumption that all IRQ lines are input lines does not hold. Oh well, revert and back to the drawing board with that. Core changes: - The big item is of course the completion of the character device ABI. The cpufreq changes that stand out somewhat are the governor interface rework and improvements related to the handling of frequency tables. Apart from those, there are fixes and new device/CPU IDs in drivers, cleanups and an improvement of the new schedutil governor. Next, there are some changes in the hibernation core, including a fix for a nasty problem related to the MONITOR/MWAIT usage by CPU offline during resume from hibernation, a few core improvements related to memory management during resume, a couple of additional debug features and cleanups. mm: introduce fault_env
The idea borrowed from Peter's patch from patchset on speculative page faults[1]: Instead of passing around the endless list of function arguments, replace the lot with a single structure so we can change context without endless function signature changes. The changes are mostly mechanical with exception of faultaround code: filemap_map_pages() got reworked a bit. This patch is preparation for the next one. mm: migrate: support non-lru movable page migration
We have allowed migration for only LRU pages until now and it was enough to make high-order pages. But recently, embedded system(e.g., webOS, android) uses lots of non-movable pages(e.g., zram, GPU memory) so we have seen several reports about troubles of small high-order allocation. For fixing the problem, there were several efforts (e,g,. enhance compaction algorithm, SLUB fallback to 0-order page, reserved memory, vmalloc and so on) but if there are lots of non-movable pages in system, their solutions are void in the long run. So, this patch is to support facility to change non-movable pages with movable. For the feature, this patch introduces functions related to migration to address_space_operations as well as some page flags. If a driver want to make own pages movable, it should define three functions which are function pointers of struct address_space_operations. 1. bool (*isolate_page) (struct page *page, isolate_mode_t mode); What VM expects on isolate_page function of driver is to return *true* if driver isolates page successfully. On returing true, VM marks the page as PG_isolated so concurrent isolation in several CPUs skip the page for isolation. If a driver cannot isolate the page, it should return *false*. Once page is successfully isolated, VM uses page.lru fields so driver shouldn't expect to preserve values in that fields. 2. int (*migratepage) (struct address_space *mapping, struct page *newpage, struct page *oldpage, enum migrate_mode); After isolation, VM calls migratepage of driver with isolated page. The function of migratepage is to move content of the old page to new page and set up fields of struct page newpage. Keep in mind that you should indicate to the VM the oldpage is no longer movable via __ClearPageMovable() under page_lock if you migrated the oldpage successfully and returns 0. If driver cannot migrate the page at the moment, driver can return -EAGAIN. On -EAGAIN, VM will retry page migration in a short time because VM interprets -EAGAIN as "temporal migration failure". On returning any error except -EAGAIN, VM will give up the page migration without retrying in this time. Driver shouldn't touch page.lru field VM using in the functions. 3. void (*putback_page)(struct page *); If migration fails on isolated page, VM should return the isolated page to the driver so VM calls driver's putback_page with migration failed page. In this function, driver should put the isolated page back to the own data structure. 4. non-lru movable page flags There are two page flags for supporting non-lru movable page. * PG_movable Driver should use the below function to make page movable under page_lock. void __SetPageMovable(struct page *page, struct address_space *mapping) It needs argument of address_space for registering migration family functions which will be called by VM. Exactly speaking, PG_movable is not a real flag of struct page. Rather than, VM reuses page->mapping's lower bits to represent it. #define PAGE_MAPPING_MOVABLE 0x2 page->mapping = page->mapping | PAGE_MAPPING_MOVABLE; so driver shouldn't access page->mapping directly. Instead, driver should use page_mapping which mask off the low two bits of page->mapping so it can get right struct address_space. For testing of non-lru movable page, VM supports __PageMovable function. However, it doesn't guarantee to identify non-lru movable page because page->mapping field is unified with other variables in struct page. As well, if driver releases the page after isolation by VM, page->mapping doesn't have stable value although it has PAGE_MAPPING_MOVABLE (Look at __ClearPageMovable). But __PageMovable is cheap to catch whether page is LRU or non-lru movable once the page has been isolated. Because LRU pages never can have PAGE_MAPPING_MOVABLE in page->mapping. It is also good for just peeking to test non-lru movable pages before more expensive checking with lock_page in pfn scanning to select victim. For guaranteeing non-lru movable page, VM provides PageMovable function. Unlike __PageMovable, PageMovable functions validates page->mapping and mapping->a_ops->isolate_page under lock_page. The lock_page prevents sudden destroying of page->mapping. Driver using __SetPageMovable should clear the flag via __ClearMovablePage under page_lock before the releasing the page. * PG_isolated To prevent concurrent isolation among several CPUs, VM marks isolated page as PG_isolated under lock_page. So if a CPU encounters PG_isolated non-lru movable page, it can skip it. Driver doesn't need to manipulate the flag because VM will set/clear it automatically. Keep in mind that if driver sees PG_isolated page, it means the page have been isolated by VM so it shouldn't touch page.lru field. PG_isolated is alias with PG_reclaim flag so driver shouldn't use the flag for own purpose. zram: use crypto api to check alg availability
There is no way to get a string with all the crypto comp algorithms supported by the crypto comp engine, so we need to maintain our own backends list. At the same time we additionally need to use crypto_has_comp() to make sure that the user has requested a compression algorithm that is recognized by the crypto comp engine. Relying on /proc/crypto is not an options here, because it does not show not-yet-inserted compression modules. Example: modprobe zram cat /proc/crypto | grep -i lz4 modprobe lz4 cat /proc/crypto | grep -i lz4 name : lz4 driver : lz4-generic module : lz4 So the user can't tell exactly if the lz4 is really supported from /proc/crypto output, unless someone or something has loaded it. This patch also adds crypto_has_comp() to zcomp_available_show(). We store all the compression algorithms names in zcomp's `backends' array, regardless the CONFIG_CRYPTO_FOO configuration, but show only those that are also supported by crypto engine. This helps user to know the exact list of compression algorithms that can be used. Example: module lz4 is not loaded yet, but is supported by the crypto engine. /proc/crypto has no information on this module, while zram's `comp_algorithm' lists it: cat /proc/crypto | grep -i lz4 cat /sys/block/zram0/comp_algorithm [lzo] lz4 deflate lz4hc 842 We still use the `backends' array to determine if the requested compression backend is known to crypto api. This array, however, may not contain some entries, therefore as the last step we call crypto_has_comp() function which attempts to insmod the requested compression algorithm to determine if crypto api supports it. The advantage of this method is that now we permit the usage of out-of-tree crypto compression modules (implementing S/W or H/W compression). Merge branch 'for-4.8/drivers' of git://git.kernel.dk/linux-block
Pull block driver updates from Jens Axboe: "This branch also contains core changes. I've come to the conclusion that from 4.9 and forward, I'll be doing just a single branch. We often have dependencies between core and drivers, and it's hard to always split them up appropriately without pulling core into drivers when that happens. That said, this contains: - separate secure erase type for the core block layer, from Christoph. - set of discard fixes, from Christoph. - bio shrinking fixes from Christoph, as a followup up to the op/flags change in the core branch. - map and append request fixes from Christoph. - NVMeF (NVMe over Fabrics) code from Christoph. This is pretty exciting! - nvme-loop fixes from Arnd. - removal of ->driverfs_dev from Dan, after providing a device_add_disk() helper. - bcache fixes from Bhaktipriya and Yijing. - cdrom subchannel read fix from Vchannaiah. - set of lightnvm updates from Wenwei, Matias, Johannes, and Javier. - set of drbd updates and fixes from Fabian, Lars, and Philipp. - mg_disk error path fix from Bart. - user notification for failed device add for loop, from Minfei. - NVMe in general: + NVMe delay quirk from Guilherme. + SR-IOV support and command retry limits from Keith. + fix for memory-less NUMA node from Masayoshi. + use UINT_MAX for discard sectors, from Minfei. + cancel IO fixes from Ming. + don't allocate unused major, from Neil. + error code fixup from Dan. + use constants for PSDT/FUSE from James. + variable init fix from Jay. + fabrics fixes from Ming, Sagi, and Wei. + various fixes" * 'for-4.8/drivers' of git://git.kernel.dk/linux-block: (115 commits) nvme/pci: Provide SR-IOV support nvme: initialize variable before logical OR'ing it block: unexport various bio mapping helpers scsi/osd: open code blk_make_request target: stop using blk_make_request block: simplify and export blk_rq_append_bio block: ensure bios return from blk_get_request are properly initialized virtio_blk: use blk_rq_map_kern memstick: don't allow REQ_TYPE_BLOCK_PC requests block: shrink bio size again block: simplify and cleanup bvec pool handling block: get rid of bio_rw and READA block: don't ignore -EOPNOTSUPP blkdev_issue_write_same block: introduce BLKDEV_DISCARD_ZERO to fix zeroout NVMe: don't allocate unused nvme_major nvme: avoid crashes when node 0 is memoryless node. nvme: Limit command retries loop: Make user notify for adding loop device failed nvme-loop: fix nvme-loop Kconfig dependencies nvmet: fix return value check in nvmet_subsys_alloc() ... |

Merge branch 'for-4.8/core' of git://git.kernel.dk/linux-block
Pull core block updates from Jens Axboe: - the big change is the cleanup from Mike Christie, cleaning up our uses of command types and modified flags. This is what will throw some merge conflicts - regression fix for the above for btrfs, from Vincent - following up to the above, better packing of struct request from Christoph - a 2038 fix for blktrace from Arnd - a few trivial/spelling fixes from Bart Van Assche - a front merge check fix from Damien, which could cause issues on SMR drives - Atari partition fix from Gabriel - convert cfq to highres timers, since jiffies isn't granular enough for some devices these days. From Jan and Jeff - CFQ priority boost fix idle classes, from me - cleanup series from Ming, improving our bio/bvec iteration - a direct issue fix for blk-mq from Omar - fix for plug merging not involving the IO scheduler, like we do for other types of merges. From Tahsin - expose DAX type internally and through sysfs. Some big changes this month, headlined by the addition of a new formatted
documentation mechanism based on the Sphinx system. The objectives here are to make it easier to create better-integrated (and more attractive) documents while (eventually) dumping our one-of-a-kind, cobbled-together system for something that is widely used and maintained by others. There's a fair amount of information what's being done, why, and how to use it in: https://lwn.net/Articles/692704/ https://lwn.net/Articles/692705/ Closer to home, Documentation/kernel-documentation.rst describes how it works. For now, the new system exists alongside the old one; you should soon see the GPU documentation converted over in the DRM pull and some significant media conversion work as well. Once all the docs have been moved over and we're convinced that the rough edges (of which are are a few) have been smoothed over, the DocBook-based stuff should go away. Primary credit is to Jani Nikula for doing the heavy lifting to make this stuff actually work; there has also been notable effort from Markus Heiser, Daniel Vetter, and Mauro Carvalho Chehab. Expect a couple of conflicts on the new index.rst file over the course of the merge window; they are trivially resolvable. That file may be a bit of a conflict magnet in the short term, but I don't expect that situation to last for any real length of time. Beyond that, of course, we have the usual collection of tweaks, updates, and typo fixes. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iQIcBAABAgAGBQJXlT8bAAoJEI3ONVYwIuV6IF0QAM7qpEgAveXgwzGr18ReftjB ryyPXdLNX8R7fQkUAu85Znlw93k4+7QxHseBgZ1I3t9IhjvzemidOKfj96SJ0DVE zco5FUTO1TPfO2uG8asNzlXSrwktrEZoFTraRIYpCjAAimg/UEQAM4xgNOJfmW39 8eLg6dhnzqnfCH6M+Q7AZPLmqNSOfA2qNFqHNs7VCbwjLQC0l4yw4PHOsdX0QhCL NtlukHOhB4CwaELDl6lZOQgnz79e4pDljFd/wA/vVpdq7ev8NnOgVVt93M2fUvLX Bdfzo2OtZg7LJnWtpQl2LJq2MJJdOmgIw+ls6cB5gvxV3+CCIndE/6IIbimC/lZi DiaaqVU/EV3AemBDbqErO4k3ZvMT2ZTaSx1OQoLpIwNAsAkEOkb+t2hcwrTqhxg1 kEIXEEboXwStBtH3iar2YiGHQWUhia4mxfv5n4Dvamaca4tGWXHWxSRjbRcaJ1ef v1kt6ymjwr2sd9116EUxngfYONwlrhk5F87D/dC2eQzEyS0z7+F8wWb/h2gsAaU1 6oVCoQjTe2KAc/7dHINMSIjg2TfVfHS5XIhWu5z6wyxRb8ey9QuKLQYlOTV/L3Ms aR4O6qvDIsIbOvEd+hHSIbeG7JOPd0LdSI4tdo4d9kquW2OJ6TmmOr/ihbJt430v s/Qxqwgme/8DJd3KcV6j =4fDK -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'docs-for-linus' of git://git.lwn.net/linux Pull documentation updates from Jonathan Corbet: "Some big changes this month, headlined by the addition of a new formatted documentation mechanism based on the Sphinx system. Merge branch 'for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/s390/linux
Pull s390 updates from Martin Schwidefsky: "There are a couple of new things for s390 with this merge request: - a new scheduling domain "drawer" is added to reflect the unusual topology found on z13 machines. Performance tests showed up to 8 percent gain with the additional domain. - the new crc-32 checksum crypto module uses the vector-galois-field multiply and sum SIMD instruction to speed up crc-32 and crc-32c. - proper __ro_after_init support, this requires RO_AFTER_INIT_DATA in the generic vmlinux.lds linker script definitions. - kcov instrumentation support. A prerequisite for that is the inline assembly basic block cleanup, which is the reason for the net/iucv/iucv.c change. - support for 2GB pages is added to the hugetlbfs backend. Then there are two removals: - the oprofile hardware sampling support is dead code and is removed. The oprofile user space uses the perf interface nowadays. - the ETR clock synchronization is removed, this has been superseeded be the STP clock synchronization. And it always has been "interesting" code..
