media: imx: add support for RGB565_2X8 on parallel bus
The IPU can only capture RGB565 with two 8-bit cycles in bayer/generic mode on the parallel bus, compared to a specific mode on MIPI CSI-2. To handle this, we extend imx_media_pixfmt with a cycles per pixel field, which is used for generic formats on the parallel bus. Based on the selected format and bus, we then update the width to account for the multiple cycles per pixel. media: imx: capture: refactor enum_/try_fmt
By checking and handling the internal IPU formats (ARGB or AYUV) first, we don't need to check whether it's a bayer format, as we can default to passing the input format on in all other cases. This simplifies handling the different configurations for RGB565 between parallel and MIPI CSI-2, as we don't need to check the details of the format anymore. media: davinci_vpfe: Add video_device and vb2_queue locks
Currently, this driver does not serialize its video4linux ioctls, which is a bug, as race conditions might appear. In addition, video_device and vb2_queue locks are now both mandatory. Add them, and implement wait_prepare and wait_finish. To stay on the safe side, this commit uses a single mutex for both locks. Better latency can be obtained by separating these if needed. treewide: devm_kzalloc() -> devm_kcalloc()
The devm_kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, devm_kcalloc(). This patch replaces cases of: devm_kzalloc(handle, a * b, gfp) with: devm_kcalloc(handle, a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: devm_kzalloc(handle, a * b * c, gfp) with: devm_kzalloc(handle, array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: devm_kcalloc(handle, array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: devm_kzalloc(handle, 4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. treewide: kzalloc() -> kcalloc()
The kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kcalloc(). This patch replaces cases of: kzalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kcalloc(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kzalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kzalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kzalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kzalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. Staging/IIO patches for 4.18-rc1
Here is the big staging and IIO driver update for 4.18-rc1. It was delayed as I wanted to make sure the final driver deletions did not cause any major merge issues, and all now looks good. There are a lot of patches here, just over 1000. The diffstat summary shows the major changes here: 1007 files changed, 16828 insertions(+), 227770 deletions(-) Because of this, we might be close to shrinking the overall kernel source code size for two releases in a row. There was loads of work in this release cycle, primarily: - tons of ks7010 driver cleanups - lots of mt7621 driver fixes and cleanups - most driver cleanups - wilc1000 fixes and cleanups - lots and lots of IIO driver cleanups and new additions - debugfs cleanups for all staging drivers - lots of other staging driver cleanups and fixes, the shortlog has the full details. but the big user-visable things here are the removal of 3 chunks of code: - ncpfs and ipx were removed on schedule, no one has cared about this code since it moved to staging last year, and if it needs to come back, it can be reverted. - lustre file system is removed. I've ranted at the lustre developers about once a year for the past 5 years, with no real forward progress at all to clean things up and get the code into the "real" part of the kernel. Given that the lustre developers continue to work on an external tree and try to port those changes to the in-kernel tree every once in a while, this whole thing really really is not working out at all. So I'm deleting it so that the developers can spend the time working in their out-of-tree location and get things cleaned up properly to get merged into the tree correctly at a later date. Because of these file removals, you will have merge issues on some of these files (2 in the ipx code, 1 in the ncpfs code, and 1 in the atomisp driver). Just delete those files, it's a simple merge :) All of this has been in linux-next for a while with no reported problems. And this adds the saturating size helpers and does a treewide replacement for the struct_size() usage. Additionally this adds the overflow testing modules to make sure everything works. I'm still working on the treewide replacements for allocators with "simple" multiplied arguments: *alloc(a * b, ...) -> *alloc_array(a, b, ...) and *zalloc(a * b, ...) -> *calloc(a, b, ...) as well as the more complex cases, but that's separable from this portion of the series. treewide: Use struct_size() for kmalloc()-family
One of the more common cases of allocation size calculations is finding the size of a structure that has a zero-sized array at the end, along with memory for some number of elements for that array. For example: struct foo { int stuff; void *entry[]; }; instance = kmalloc(sizeof(struct foo) + sizeof(void *) * count, GFP_KERNEL); Instead of leaving these open-coded and prone to type mistakes, we can now use the new struct_size() helper: instance = kmalloc(struct_size(instance, entry, count), GFP_KERNEL); This patch makes the changes for kmalloc()-family (and kvmalloc()-family) uses. It was done via automatic conversion with manual review for the "CHECKME" non-standard cases noted below, using the following Coccinelle script: // pkey_cache = kmalloc(sizeof *pkey_cache + tprops->pkey_tbl_len * // sizeof *pkey_cache->table, GFP_KERNEL); @@ identifier alloc =~ "kmalloc|kzalloc|kvmalloc|kvzalloc"; expression GFP; identifier VAR, ELEMENT; expression COUNT; @@ - alloc(sizeof(*VAR) + COUNT * sizeof(*VAR->ELEMENT), GFP) + alloc(struct_size(VAR, ELEMENT, COUNT), GFP) // mr = kzalloc(sizeof(*mr) + m * sizeof(mr->map[0]), GFP_KERNEL); @@ identifier alloc =~ "kmalloc|kzalloc|kvmalloc|kvzalloc"; expression GFP; identifier VAR, ELEMENT; expression COUNT; @@ - alloc(sizeof(*VAR) + COUNT * sizeof(VAR->ELEMENT[0]), GFP) + alloc(struct_size(VAR, ELEMENT, COUNT), GFP) // Same pattern, but can't trivially locate the trailing element name, // or variable name. @@ identifier alloc =~ "kmalloc|kzalloc|kvmalloc|kvzalloc"; expression GFP; expression SOMETHING, COUNT, ELEMENT; @@ - alloc(sizeof(SOMETHING) + COUNT * sizeof(ELEMENT), GFP) + alloc(CHECKME_struct_size(&SOMETHING, ELEMENT, COUNT), GFP) Signed-off-by: Kees Cook <keescook@chromium.org> |

staging: ipx: delete it from the tree
The ipx code moved into the staging tree back in November 2017 and no one has complained or even noticed it was gone. Because of that, let's just delete it. Note, the ipx header files are not removed here, that will come later through the networking tree, as that takes a bit more work to unwind. staging: lustre: delete the filesystem from the tree.
The Lustre filesystem has been in the kernel tree for over 5 years now. While it has been an endless source of enjoyment for new kernel developers learning how to do basic codingstyle cleanups, as well as an semi-entertaining source of bewilderment from the vfs developers any time they have looked into the codebase to try to figure out how to port their latest api changes to this filesystem, it has not really moved forward into the "this is in shape to get out of staging" despite many half-completed attempts. And getting code out of staging is the main goal of that portion of the kernel tree. Code should not stagnate and it feels like having this code in staging is only causing the development cycle of the filesystem to take longer than it should. There is a whole separate out-of-tree copy of this codebase where the developers work on it, and then random changes are thrown over the wall at staging at some later point in time. This dual-tree development model has never worked, and the state of this codebase is proof of that. So, let's just delete the whole mess. Now the lustre developers can go off and work in their out-of-tree codebase and not have to worry about providing valid changelog entries and breaking their patches up into logical pieces. They can take the time they have spend doing those types of housekeeping chores and get the codebase into a much better shape, and it can be submitted for inclusion into the real part of the kernel tree when ready. staging: vc04_services: no need to save the log debufs dentries

Remove the pointer from struct vchiq_debugfs_log_entry as it is not needed anymore and get rid of the separate vchiq_debugfs_create_log_entries() function as it is only used in one place. staging: vc04_services: remove odd vchiq_debugfs_top() wrapper
vchiq_debugfs_top() is only a wrapper around a pointer to a dentry, so just use the dentry directly instead, making it a static variable instead of part of a static structure. This also removes the pointless BUG_ON() when checking that dentry as no one should ever care if debugfs is working or not, and the kernel should really not panic over something as trivial as that. staging: vc04_services: no need to check debugfs return values
When calling debugfs functions, there is no need to ever check the return value. The function can work or not, but the code logic should never do something different based on this. Clean up the vchiq_arm code by not caring about the value of debugfs calls. This ends up removing a number of lines of code that are not needed. Most gpio chips have two cells for interrupts and this should be also. Set this property in the device tree accordly fixing this up. In order to make this working properly the xlate function for the irq_domain must be updated to use the 'irq_domain_xlate_twocell' one in the driver. staging: mt7621-gpio: fix masks for gpio pin
BIT macro is being used to get mask for gpio's pin which is retrieved using 'hwirq' from struct irq_data. The problem here is that 'hwirq' can be as large as 95, and 1UL << 95 is unlikely to work well. Instead of using BIT macro use a new PIN_MASK macro which takes into account pin and WIDTH of the bank in order to make a proper mask for the gpio pin. Also 'd->hwirq' has been replaced by 'pin' in some places because there was a 'pin' variable in changed functions with the proper value. This improves readability. staging: mt7621-gpio: use module_platform_driver() instead subsys initcall
The driver's init function don't do anything besides registering the platform driver, and the exit function which is not included in the driver should only do driver unregister. Because of this module_platform_driver() macro could just be used instead of having separate functions. Currently the macro is not being used because the driver is initialized at subsys init call level but this isn't necessary since platform devices are defined in the DT as dependencies so there's no need for init calls order.
