System call table generation script must be run to gener-
ate unistd_32/64.h and syscall_table_32/64/c32/spu.h files.
This patch will have changes which will invokes the script.
This patch will generate unistd_32/64.h and syscall_table-
_32/64/c32/spu.h files by the syscall table generation
script invoked by parisc/Makefile and the generated files
against the removed files must be identical.
The generated uapi header file will be included in uapi/-
asm/unistd.h and generated system call table header file
will be included by kernel/systbl.S file.

NR_syscalls macro holds the number of system call exist
in powerpc architecture. We have to change the value of
NR_syscalls, if we add or delete a system call.
One of the patch in this patch series has a script which
will generate a uapi header based on syscall.tbl file.
The syscall.tbl file contains the number of system call
information. So we have two option to update NR_syscalls
value.
1. Update NR_syscalls in asm/unistd.h manually by count-
ing the no.of system calls. No need to update NR_sys-
calls until we either add a new system call or delete
existing system call.
2. We can keep this feature in above mentioned script,
that will count the number of syscalls and keep it in
a generated file. In this case we don't need to expli-
citly update NR_syscalls in asm/unistd.h file.
The 2nd option will be the recommended one. For that, I
added the __NR_syscalls macro in uapi/asm/unistd.h along
with NR_syscalls asm/unistd.h. The macro __NR_syscalls
also added for making the name convention same across all
architecture. While __NR_syscalls isn't strictly part of
the uapi, having it as part of the generated header to
simplifies the implementation. We also need to enclose
this macro with #ifdef __KERNEL__ to avoid side effects.

On each sample, Sample Instruction Event Register (SIER) content
is saved in pt_regs. SIER does not have a entry as-is in the pt_regs
but instead, SIER content is saved in the "dar" register of pt_regs.
Patch adds another entry to the perf_regs structure to include the "SIER"
printing which internally maps to the "dar" of pt_regs.
It also check for the SIER availability in the platform and present
value accordingly

Now that there are different variants of pt_regs for userspace and
kernel, the uapi for the BPF_PROG_TYPE_PERF_EVENT program type must be
changed by exporting the user_pt_regs structure instead of the pt_regs
structure that is in-kernel only.

Here is the big tty and serial pull request for 4.20-rc1
Lots of little things here, including a merge from the SPI tree in order
to keep things simpler for everyone to sync around for one platform.
Major stuff is:
- tty buffer clearing after use
- atmel_serial fixes and additions
- xilinx uart driver updates
and of course, lots of tiny fixes and additions to individual serial
drivers.
All of these have been in linux-next with no reported issues for a

Notable changes:
- A large series to rewrite our SLB miss handling, replacing a lot of fairly
complicated asm with much fewer lines of C.
- Following on from that, we now maintain a cache of SLB entries for each
process and preload them on context switch. Leading to a 27% speedup for our
context switch benchmark on Power9.
- Improvements to our handling of SLB multi-hit errors. We now print more debug
information when they occur, and try to continue running by flushing the SLB
and reloading, rather than treating them as fatal.
- Enable THP migration on 64-bit Book3S machines (eg. Power7/8/9).
- Add support for physical memory up to 2PB in the linear mapping on 64-bit
Book3S. We only support up to 512TB as regular system memory, otherwise the
percpu allocator runs out of vmalloc space.
- Add stack protector support for 32 and 64-bit, with a per-task canary.
- Add support for PTRACE_SYSEMU and PTRACE_SYSEMU_SINGLESTEP.
- Support recognising "big cores" on Power9, where two SMT4 cores are presented
to us as a single SMT8 core.
- A large series to cleanup some of our ioremap handling and PTE flags.
- Add a driver for the PAPR SCM (storage class memory) interface, allowing
guests to operate on SCM devices (acked by Dan).
- Changes to our ftrace code to handle very large kernels, where we need to use
a trampoline to get to ftrace_caller().
Many other smaller enhancements and cleanups.

My recent patch to split pt_regs between user and kernel missed
the usage in struct sigcontext.
Because this is a user visible struct it should be using the user
visible definition, which when we're building for the kernel is called
struct user_pt_regs.
As far as I can see this hasn't actually caused a bug (yet), because
we don't use the sizeof() the sigcontext->regs anywhere. But we should
still fix it to avoid confusion and future bugs.
Fixes: 002af9391b ("powerpc: Split user/kernel definitions of struct pt_regs")
Reported-by: Madhavan Srinivasan <maddy@linux.vnet.ibm.com>
Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
We use a shared definition for struct pt_regs in uapi/asm/ptrace.h.
That means the layout of the structure is ABI, ie. we can't change it.
That would be fine if it was only used to describe the user-visible
register state of a process, but it's also the struct we use in the
kernel to describe the registers saved in an interrupt frame.
We'd like more flexibility in the content (and possibly layout) of the
kernel version of the struct, but currently that's not possible.
So split the definition into a user-visible definition which remains
unchanged, and a kernel internal one.
At the moment they're still identical, and we check that at build
time. That's because we have code (in ptrace etc.) that assumes that
they are the same. We will fix that code in future patches, and then
we can break the strict symmetry between the two structs.

This adds a one-reg register identifier which can be used to read and
set the virtual PTCR for the guest. This register identifies the
address and size of the virtual partition table for the guest, which
contains information about the nested guests under this guest.
Migrating this value is the only extra requirement for migrating a
guest which has nested guests (assuming of course that the destination
host supports nested virtualization in the kvm-hv module).

This is a patch that adds support for PTRACE_SYSEMU ptrace request in
PowerPC architecture.
When ptrace(PTRACE_SYSEMU, ...) request is called, it will be handled by
the arch independent function ptrace_resume(), which will tag the task with
the TIF_SYSCALL_EMU flag. This flag needs to be handled from a platform
dependent point of view, which is what this patch does.
This patch adds this task's flag as part of the _TIF_SYSCALL_DOTRACE, which
is the MACRO that is used to trace syscalls at entrance/exit.
Since TIF_SYSCALL_EMU is now part of _TIF_SYSCALL_DOTRACE, if the task has
_TIF_SYSCALL_DOTRACE set, it will hit do_syscall_trace_enter() at syscall
entrance and do_syscall_trace_leave() at syscall leave.
do_syscall_trace_enter() needs to handle the TIF_SYSCALL_EMU flag properly,
which will interrupt the syscall executing if TIF_SYSCALL_EMU is set. The
output values should not be changed, i.e. the return value (r3) should
contain the original syscall argument on exit.
With this flag set, the syscall is not executed fundamentally, because
do_syscall_trace_enter() is returning -1 which is bigger than NR_syscall,
thus, skipping the syscall execution and exiting userspace.

Using an si_code of 0 that aliases with SI_USER is clearly the wrong
thing todo, and causes problems in interesting ways.
For use in unknown_exception the recently defined TRAP_UNK
semantically is a perfect fit. For use in RunModeException it looks
like something more specific than TRAP_UNK could be used. No one has
bothered to find a better fit than the broken si_code of 0 in all of
these years and I don't see an obvious better fit so TRAP_UNK is
switching RunModeException to return TRAP_UNK is clearly an
improvement.
Recent history suggests no actually cares about crazy corner
cases of the kernel behavior like this so I don't expect any
regressions from changing this. However if something does
happen this change is easy to revert.
Though I wonder if SIGKILL might not be a better fit.

powerpc, uses a nonstandard variation of the generic sysvipc
data structures, intended to have the padding moved around
so it can deal with big-endian 32-bit user space that has
64-bit time_t.
powerpc has the same definition as parisc and sparc, but now also
supports little-endian mode, which is now wrong because the
padding is made for big-endian user space.
This takes just take the same approach here that we have for
the asm-generic headers and adds separate 32-bit fields for the
upper halves of the timestamps, to let libc deal with the mess
in user space.

Pull siginfo cleanups from Eric Biederman:
"Long ago when 2.4 was just a testing release copy_siginfo_to_user was
made to copy individual fields to userspace, possibly for efficiency
and to ensure initialized values were not copied to userspace.
Unfortunately the design was complex, it's assumptions unstated, and
humans are fallible and so while it worked much of the time that
design failed to ensure unitialized memory is not copied to userspace.
This set of changes is part of a new design to clean up siginfo and
simplify things, and hopefully make the siginfo handling robust enough
that a simple inspection of the code can be made to ensure we don't
copy any unitializied fields to userspace.
The design is to unify struct siginfo and struct compat_siginfo into a
single definition that is shared between all architectures so that
anyone adding to the set of information shared with struct siginfo can
see the whole picture. Hopefully ensuring all future si_code
assignments are arch independent.
The design is to unify copy_siginfo_to_user32 and
copy_siginfo_from_user32 so that those function are complete and cope
with all of the different cases documented in signinfo_layout. I don't
think there was a single implementation of either of those functions
that was complete and correct before my changes unified them.
The design is to introduce a series of helpers including
force_siginfo_fault that take the values that are needed in struct
siginfo and build the siginfo structure for their callers. Ensuring
struct siginfo is built correctly.
The remaining work for 4.17 (unless someone thinks it is post -rc1
material) is to push usage of those helpers down into the
architectures so that architecture specific code will not need to deal
with the fiddly work of intializing struct siginfo, and then when
struct siginfo is guaranteed to be fully initialized change copy
siginfo_to_user into a simple wrapper around copy_to_user.
Further there is work in progress on the issues that have been
documented requires arch specific knowledge to sort out.
The changes below fix or at least document all of the issues that have
been found with siginfo generation. Then proceed to unify struct
siginfo the 32 bit helpers that copy siginfo to and from userspace,
and generally clean up anything that is not arch specific with regards
to siginfo generation.
It is a lot but with the unification you can of siginfo you can
already see the code reduction in the kernel"

This adds a new ioctl, KVM_PPC_GET_CPU_CHAR, that gives userspace
information about the underlying machine's level of vulnerability
to the recently announced vulnerabilities CVE-2017-5715,
CVE-2017-5753 and CVE-2017-5754, and whether the machine provides
instructions to assist software to work around the vulnerabilities.
The ioctl returns two u64 words describing characteristics of the
CPU and required software behaviour respectively, plus two mask
words which indicate which bits have been filled in by the kernel,
for extensibility. The bit definitions are the same as for the
new H_GET_CPU_CHARACTERISTICS hypercall.
There is also a new capability, KVM_CAP_PPC_GET_CPU_CHAR, which
indicates whether the new ioctl is available.

This adds a register identifier for use with the one_reg interface
to allow the decrementer expiry time to be read and written by
userspace. The decrementer expiry time is in guest timebase units
and is equal to the sum of the decrementer and the guest timebase.
(The expiry time is used rather than the decrementer value itself
because the expiry time is not constantly changing, though the
decrementer value is, while the guest vcpu is not running.)
Without this, a guest vcpu migrated to a new host will see its
decrementer set to some random value. On POWER8 and earlier, the
decrementer is 32 bits wide and counts down at 512MHz, so the
guest vcpu will potentially see no decrementer interrupts for up
to about 4 seconds, which will lead to a stall. With POWER9, the
decrementer is now 56 bits side, so the stall can be much longer
(up to 2.23 years) and more noticeable.
To help work around the problem in cases where userspace has not been
updated to migrate the decrementer expiry time, we now set the
default decrementer expiry at vcpu creation time to the current time
rather than the maximum possible value. This should mean an
immediate decrementer interrupt when a migrated vcpu starts
running. In cases where the decrementer is 32 bits wide and more
than 4 seconds elapse between the creation of the vcpu and when it
first runs, the decrementer would have wrapped around to positive
values and there may still be a stall - but this is no worse than
the current situation. In the large-decrementer case, we are sure
to get an immediate decrementer interrupt (assuming the time from
vcpu creation to first run is less than 2.23 years) and we thus
avoid a very long stall.

NSIGTRAP is 4 in the generic siginfo and powerpc just undefines
NSGTRAP and redefine it as 4. That accomplishes nothing so remove

Setting si_code to 0 results in a userspace seeing an si_code of 0.
This is the same si_code as SI_USER. Posix and common sense requires
that SI_USER not be a signal specific si_code. As such this use of 0
for the si_code is a pretty horribly broken ABI.
Further use of si_code == 0 guaranteed that copy_siginfo_to_user saw a
value of __SI_KILL and now sees a value of SIL_KILL with the result
that uid and pid fields are copied and which might copying the si_addr
field by accident but certainly not by design. Making this a very
flakey implementation.
Utilizing FPE_FIXME and TRAP_FIXME, siginfo_layout() will now return
SIL_FAULT and the appropriate fields will be reliably copied.
Possible ABI fixes includee:
- Send the signal without siginfo
- Don't generate a signal
- Possibly assign and use an appropriate si_code
- Don't handle cases which can't happen

Commit 0515e5999a ("bpf: introduce BPF_PROG_TYPE_PERF_EVENT
program type") introduced the bpf_perf_event_data structure which
exports the pt_regs structure. This is OK for multiple architectures
but fail for s390 and arm64 which do not export pt_regs. Programs
using them, for example, the bpf selftest fail to compile on these
architectures.
For s390, exporting the pt_regs is not an option because s390 wants
to allow changes to it. For arm64, there is a user_pt_regs structure
that covers parts of the pt_regs structure for use by user space.
To solve the broken uapi for s390 and arm64, introduce an abstract
type for pt_regs and add an asm/bpf_perf_event.h file that concretes
the type. An asm-generic header file covers the architectures that
export pt_regs today.
The arch-specific enablement for s390 and arm64 follows in separate
commits.

Merge tag 'powerpc-4.15-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/powerpc/linux
Pull powerpc updates from Michael Ellerman:
"A bit of a small release, I suspect in part due to me travelling for
KS. But my backlog of patches to review is smaller than usual, so I
think in part folks just didn't send as much this cycle.
Non-highlights:
- Five fixes for the >128T address space handling, both to fix bugs
in our implementation and to bring the semantics exactly into line
with x86.
Highlights:
- Support for a new OPAL call on bare metal machines which gives us a
true NMI (ie. is not masked by MSR[EE]=0) for debugging etc.
- Support for Power9 DD2 in the CXL driver.
- Improvements to machine check handling so that uncorrectable errors
can be reported into the generic memory_failure() machinery.
- Some fixes and improvements for VPHN, which is used under PowerVM
to notify the Linux partition of topology changes.
- Plumbing to enable TM (transactional memory) without suspend on
some Power9 processors (PPC_FEATURE2_HTM_NO_SUSPEND).
- Support for emulating vector loads form cache-inhibited memory, on
some Power9 revisions.
- Disable the fast-endian switch "syscall" by default (behind a
CONFIG), we believe it has never had any users.
- A major rework of the API drivers use when initiating and waiting
for long running operations performed by OPAL firmware, and changes
to the powernv_flash driver to use the new API.
- Several fixes for the handling of FP/VMX/VSX while processes are
using transactional memory.
- Optimisations of TLB range flushes when using the radix MMU on
Power9.
- Improvements to the VAS facility used to access coprocessors on
Power9, and related improvements to the way the NX crypto driver
handles requests.
- Implementation of PMEM_API and UACCESS_FLUSHCACHE for 64-bit.

Many user space API headers have licensing information, which is either
incomplete, badly formatted or just a shorthand for referring to the
license under which the file is supposed to be. This makes it hard for
compliance tools to determine the correct license.
Update these files with an SPDX license identifier. The identifier was
chosen based on the license information in the file.
GPL/LGPL licensed headers get the matching GPL/LGPL SPDX license
identifier with the added 'WITH Linux-syscall-note' exception, which is
the officially assigned exception identifier for the kernel syscall
exception:
NOTE! This copyright does *not* cover user programs that use kernel
services by normal system calls - this is merely considered normal use
of the kernel, and does *not* fall under the heading of "derived work".
This exception makes it possible to include GPL headers into non GPL
code, without confusing license compliance tools.
Headers which have either explicit dual licensing or are just licensed
under a non GPL license are updated with the corresponding SPDX
identifier and the GPLv2 with syscall exception identifier. The format
is:
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR SPDX-ID-OF-OTHER-LICENSE)
SPDX license identifiers are a legally binding shorthand, which can be
used instead of the full boiler plate text. The update does not remove
existing license information as this has to be done on a case by case
basis and the copyright holders might have to be consulted. This will
happen in a separate step.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne. See the previous patch in this series for the
methodology of how this patch was researched.

Many user space API headers are missing licensing information, which
makes it hard for compliance tools to determine the correct license.
By default are files without license information under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPLV2. Marking them GPLV2 would exclude
them from being included in non GPLV2 code, which is obviously not
intended. The user space API headers fall under the syscall exception
which is in the kernels COPYING file:
NOTE! This copyright does *not* cover user programs that use kernel
services by normal system calls - this is merely considered normal use
of the kernel, and does *not* fall under the heading of "derived work".
otherwise syscall usage would not be possible.
Update the files which contain no license information with an SPDX
license identifier. The chosen identifier is 'GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note' which is the officially assigned identifier for the
Linux syscall exception. SPDX license identifiers are a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.

Some CPUs can operate in a mode where TM (Transactional Memory) is
enabled but the suspended state of TM is disabled. In this mode
tsuspend does not enter suspended state, instead the transaction is
aborted. Similarly any other event that would lead to suspended state
instead aborts the transaction.
There is also an ABI change, in that in this mode processes are not
allowed to sigreturn with an MSR that would lead to suspended state,
Linux will instead return an error to the sigreturn syscall.

A non-default huge page size can be encoded in the flags argument of the
mmap system call. The definitions for these encodings are in arch
specific header files. However, all architectures use the same values.
Consolidate all the definitions in the primary user header file
(uapi/linux/mman.h). Include definitions for all known huge page sizes.
Use the generic encoding definitions in hugetlb_encode.h as the basis
for these definitions.

Enhance KVM to cause a guest exit with KVM_EXIT_NMI
exit reason upon a machine check exception (MCE) in
the guest address space if the KVM_CAP_PPC_FWNMI
capability is enabled (instead of delivering a 0x200
interrupt to guest). This enables QEMU to build error
log and deliver machine check exception to guest via
guest registered machine check handler.
This approach simplifies the delivery of machine
check exception to guest OS compared to the earlier
approach of KVM directly invoking 0x200 guest interrupt
vector.
This design/approach is based on the feedback for the
QEMU patches to handle machine check exception. Details
of earlier approach of handling machine check exception
in QEMU and related discussions can be found at:
https://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2014-11/msg00813.html
Note:
This patch now directly invokes machine_check_print_event_info()
from kvmppc_handle_exit_hv() to print the event to host console
at the time of guest exit before the exception is passed on to the
guest. Hence, the host-side handling which was performed earlier
via machine_check_fwnmi is removed.
The reasons for this approach is (i) it is not possible
to distinguish whether the exception occurred in the
guest or the host from the pt_regs passed on the
machine_check_exception(). Hence machine_check_exception()
calls panic, instead of passing on the exception to
the guest, if the machine check exception is not
recoverable. (ii) the approach introduced in this
patch gives opportunity to the host kernel to perform
actions in virtual mode before passing on the exception
to the guest. This approach does not require complex
tweaks to machine_check_fwnmi and friends.

When opening the slave end of a PTY, it is not possible for userspace to
safely ensure that /dev/pts/$num is actually a slave (in cases where the
mount namespace in which devpts was mounted is controlled by an
untrusted process). In addition, there are several unresolvable
race conditions if userspace were to attempt to detect attacks through
stat(2) and other similar methods [in addition it is not clear how
userspace could detect attacks involving FUSE].
Resolve this by providing an interface for userpace to safely open the
"peer" end of a PTY file descriptor by using the dentry cached by
devpts. Since it is not possible to have an open master PTY without
having its slave exposed in /dev/pts this interface is safe. This
interface currently does not provide a way to get the master pty (since
it is not clear whether such an interface is safe or even useful).

These are completely obvious as all they do is include the asm-generic
versions.

Providing "scv" support to userspace requires kernel support, so it
must be advertised as independently to the base ISA 3 instruction set.
The darn instruction relies on firmware enablement, so it has been
decided to split this out from the core ISA 3 feature as well.
