E1x chips (57710, 57711(E)) have no support for encapsulation
offload. bnx2x incorrectly advertises the support as available.
Setting of those features is conditional on "!CHIP_IS_E1x(bp)", but
the bp struct is not initialized yet at this point and consequently
any chip passes the check.
The check must use the "chip_is_e1x" local variable instead to work
correctly.

There is no need to have both bcmgenet_xmit_single() and
bcmgenet_xmit_frag() perform a free_bds decrement and a prod_index
increment by one. In case one of these functions fails to map a SKB or
fragment for transmit, we will return and exit bcmgenet_xmit() with an
error.
We can therefore safely use our local copy of nr_frags to know by how
much we should decrement the number of free buffers available, and by
how much the producer count must be incremented and do this in the tail
of bcmgenet_xmit().

Currently, bcmgenet_desc_rx() calls bcmgenet_rx_refill() at the end of
Rx packet processing loop, after the current Rx packet has already been
passed to napi_gro_receive(). However, bcmgenet_rx_refill() might fail
to allocate a new Rx skb, thus leaving a hole on the Rx queue where no
valid Rx buffer exists.
To eliminate this situation:
1. Rewrite bcmgenet_rx_refill() to retain the current Rx skb on the Rx
queue if a new replacement Rx skb can't be allocated and DMA-mapped.
In this case, the data on the current Rx skb is effectively dropped.
2. Modify bcmgenet_desc_rx() to call bcmgenet_rx_refill() at the top of
Rx packet processing loop, so that the new replacement Rx skb is
already in place before the current Rx skb is processed.

This can be reproduced using the following sequence:
ethtool -s eth0 wol g
ethtool -s eth0 wol s sopass 00:11:22:33:44:55
ethtool -s eth0 wol g

GSO isn't the only offload feature with restrictions that
potentially can't be expressed with the current features mechanism.
Checksum is another although it's a general issue that could in
theory apply to anything. Even if it may be possible to
implement these restrictions in other ways, it can result in
duplicate code or inefficient per-packet behavior.
This generalizes ndo_gso_check so that drivers can remove any
features that don't make sense for a given packet, similar to
netif_skb_features(). It also converts existing driver
restrictions to the new format, completing the work that was
done to support tunnel protocols since the issues apply to
checksums as well.
By actually removing features from the set that are used to do
offloading, it solves another problem with the existing
interface. In these cases, GSO would run with the original set
of features and not do anything because it appears that
segmentation is not required.

During driver load in tg3_init_one, if the driver detects DMA activity before
intializing the chip tg3_halt is called. As part of tg3_halt interrupts are
disabled using routine tg3_disable_ints. This routine was using mailbox value
which was not initialized (default value is 0). As a result driver was writing
0x00000001 to pci config space register 0, which is the vendor id / device id.
This driver bug was exposed because of the commit a7877b17a667 (PCI: Check only
the Vendor ID to identify Configuration Request Retry). Also this issue is only
seen in older generation chipsets like 5722 because config space write to offset
0 from driver is possible. The newer generation chips ignore writes to offset 0.
Also without commit a7877b17a667, for these older chips when a GRC reset is
issued the Bootcode would reprogram the vendor id/device id, which is the reason
this bug was masked earlier.
Fixed by initializing the interrupt mailbox registers before calling tg3_halt.

Hook a ndo_set_mac_address callback, update the internal Ethernet MAC in
the netdevice structure, and finally write that address down to the
UniMAC registers. If the interface is down, and most likely clock gated,
we do not update the registers but just the local copy, such that next
ndo_open() call will effectively write down the address.

pull request: wireless-next 2014-12-08
Please pull this last batch of pending wireless updates for the 3.19 tree...
For the wireless bits, Johannes says:
"This time I have Felix's no-status rate control work, which will allow
drivers to work better with rate control even if they don't have perfect
status reporting. In addition to this, a small hwsim fix from Patrik,
one of the regulatory patches from Arik, and a number of cleanups and
fixes I did myself.
Of note is a patch where I disable CFG80211_WEXT so that compatibility
is no longer selectable - this is intended as a wake-up call for anyone
who's still using it, and is still easily worked around (it's a one-line
patch) before we fully remove the code as well in the future."
For the Bluetooth bits, Johan says:
"Here's one more bluetooth-next pull request for 3.19:
- Minor cleanups for ieee802154 & mac802154
- Fix for the kernel warning with !TASK_RUNNING reported by Kirill A.
Shutemov
- Support for another ath3k device
- Fix for tracking link key based security level
- Device tree bindings for btmrvl + a state update fix
- Fix for wrong ACL flags on LE links"
And...
"In addition to the previous one this contains two more cleanups to
mac802154 as well as support for some new HCI features from the
Bluetooth 4.2 specification.
From the original request:
'Here's what should be the last bluetooth-next pull request for 3.19.
It's rather large but the majority of it is the Low Energy Secure
Connections feature that's part of the Bluetooth 4.2 specification. The
specification went public only this week so we couldn't publish the
corresponding code before that. The code itself can nevertheless be
considered fairly mature as it's been in development for over 6 months
and gone through several interoperability test events.
Besides LE SC the pull request contains an important fix for command
complete events for mgmt sockets which also fixes some leaks of hci_conn
objects when powering off or unplugging Bluetooth adapters.
A smaller feature that's part of the pull request is service discovery
support. This is like normal device discovery except that devices not
matching specific UUIDs or strong enough RSSI are filtered out.
Other changes that the pull request contains are firmware dump support
to the btmrvl driver, firmware download support for Broadcom BCM20702A0
variants, as well as some coding style cleanups in 6lowpan &
ieee802154/mac802154 code.'"
For the NFC bits, Samuel says:
"With this one we get:
- NFC digital improvements for DEP support: Chaining, NACK and ATN
support added.
- NCI improvements: Support for p2p target, SE IO operand addition,
SE operands extensions to support proprietary implementations, and
a few fixes.
- NFC HCI improvements: OPEN_PIPE and NOTIFY_ALL_CLEARED support,
and SE IO operand addition.
- A bunch of minor improvements and fixes for STMicro st21nfcb and
st21nfca"
For the iwlwifi bits, Emmanuel says:
"Major works are CSA and TDLS. On top of that I have a new
firmware API for scan and a few rate control improvements.
Johannes find a few tricks to improve our CPU utilization
and adds support for a new spin of 7265 called 7265D.
Along with this a few random things that don't stand out."
And...
"I deprecate here -8.ucode since -9 has been published long ago.
Along with that I have a new activity, we have now better
a infrastructure for firmware debugging. This will allow to
have configurable probes insides the firmware.
Luca continues his work on NetDetect, this feature is now
complete. All the rest is minor fixes here and there."
For the Atheros bits, Kalle says:
"Only ath10k changes this time and no major changes. Most visible are:
o new debugfs interface for runtime firmware debugging (Yanbo)
o fix shared WEP (Sujith)
o don't rebuild whenever kernel version changes (Johannes)
o lots of refactoring to make it easier to add new hw support (Michal)
There's also smaller fixes and improvements with no point of listing
here."
In addition, there are a few last minute updates to ath5k,
ath9k, brcmfmac, brcmsmac, mwifiex, rt2x00, rtlwifi, and wil6210.
Also included is a pull of the wireless tree to pick-up the fixes
originally included in "pull request: wireless 2014-12-03"...
Please let me know if there are problems!

Our FW can support several fastpath HSI [for backward compatibility] but up
until now VFs were always configured to use latest fastpath HSI [although VF
driver might be older and use an older fastpath HSI].
For linux drivers, the differences are insignificant since driver never
utilized features that were overridden by the HSI change. But for VMs running
other operating systems this might be a problem.
In addition, eventually FW might change fastpath HSI in such a manner that
backward compatibility WILL break unless configured with proper version.
This patch fixes the issue for other operating system VMs, as well as lays
the ground work for forward compatibility in regard to the fastpath HSI.

for the new scheme and finally attempts to catch reserved values and

This patch extends the set/get_rxfh ethtool-options for getting or
setting the RSS hash function.
It modifies drivers implementation of set/get_rxfh accordingly.
This change also delegates the responsibility of checking whether a
modification to a certain RX flow hash parameter is supported to the
driver implementation of set_rxfh.
User-kernel API is done through the new hfunc bitmask field in the
ethtool_rxfh struct. A bit set in the hfunc field is corresponding to an
index in the new string-set ETH_SS_RSS_HASH_FUNCS.
Got approval from most of the relevant driver maintainers that their
driver is using Toeplitz, and for the few that didn't answered, also
assumed it is Toeplitz.

Wake On Lan was not working on laptop DELL Vostro 1500.
If WOL was turned on, BCM4401 was powered up in suspend mode. LEDs blinked.
But the laptop could not be woken up with the Magic Packet. The reason for
that was that PCIE was not enabled as a system wakeup source and
therefore the host PCI bridge was not powered up in suspend mode.
PCIE was not enabled in suspend by PM because no child devices were
registered as wakeup source during suspend process.
On laptop BCM4401 is connected through the SSB bus, that is connected to the
PCI-Express bus. SSB and B44 did not use standard PM wakeup functions
and did not forward wakeup settings to their parents.
To fix that B44 driver enables PM wakeup and registers new wakeup source
using device_set_wakeup_enable(). Wakeup is automatically reported to the parent SSB
bus via power.wakeup_path. SSB bus enables wakeup for the parent PCI bridge, if there is any
child devices with enabled wakeup functionality. All other steps are
done by PM core code.

brought up out of S3, all the initialization done during
bcmgenet_probe() by bcmgenet_mii_init() calling bcmgenet_mii_config() is
just lost since register contents are restored to their reset values.
Re-apply this configuration anytime we call bcmgenet_open() to make sure

Since we are now calling bcmgenet_mii_config() everytime bcmgenet_open()

bcm_sysport_resume() was missing an UniMAC reset which can lead to
various receive FIFO corruptions coming out of a suspend cycle. If the
RX FIFO is stuck, it will deliver corrupted/duplicate packets towards
the host CPU interface.
This could be reproduced on crowded network and when Wake-on-LAN is
enabled for this particular interface because the switch still forwards
packets towards the host CPU interface (SYSTEMPORT), and we had to leave
the UniMAC RX enable bit on to allow matching MagicPackets.
Once we re-enter the resume function, there is a small window during
which the UniMAC receive is still enabled, and we start queueing
packets, but the RDMA and RBUF engines are not ready, which leads to
having packets stuck in the UniMAC RX FIFO, ultimately delivered towards
the host CPU as corrupted.

There is currently a small window during which the SYSTEMPORT adapter
enables its RX interrupts without having enabled its NAPI handler, which
can result in packets to be discarded during interface bringup.
A similar but more serious window exists in bcm_sysport_resume() during
which we can have the RDMA engine not fully prepared to receive packets
and yet having RX interrupts enabled.
Fix this my moving the RX interrupt enable down to
bcm_sysport_netif_start() after napi_enable() for the RX path is called,

When receiving a vlan-tagged frame that still contains

We should not be manipulaging the DMA_CTRL registers directly by writing
0 to them to disable DMA. This is an operation that needs to be timed to
make sure the DMA engines have been properly stopped since their state
machine stops on a packet boundary, not immediately.
Make sure that tha bcmgenet_fini_dma() calls bcmgenet_dma_teardown() to
ensure a proper DMA engine state. As a result, we need to reorder the
function bodies to resolve the use dependency.

The GENET driver supports SKB fragments, and succeeds in transmitting
them properly, but when reclaiming these transmitted fragments, we will
only update the count of free buffer descriptors by 1, even for SKBs
with fragments. This leads to the networking stack thinking it has more
room than the hardware has when pushing new SKBs, and backing off
consequently because we return NETDEV_TX_BUSY.
Fix this by accounting for the SKB nr_frags plus one (itself) and update
ring->free_bds accordingly with that value for each iteration loop in
__bcmgenet_tx_reclaim().

2) Do not rely on HW reset values when loading driver in little endian kernel

Second, if ifdown (tg3_close) is called between tg3_io_error_detected()

a tg3_napi_enable between. Once during tg3_io_error_detected() and again

Trying to disable sriov when VFs are assigned may lead to all kinds of problems.
This patch unifies the call in the driver to pci_disable_sriov() and prevents
them if some of the PF's child VFs are marked as assigned.
[Notice this is a bad scenario either way; User should not reach a point where
the OS tries to disable SRIOV when a VF is assigned - but currently there's no
way of preventing the user from doing so, and the ill-effect for the driver is

Commit 91ebb929b6 ("bnx2x: Add support for Multi-Function UNDI") [which was
later supposedly fixed by de682941ee ("bnx2x: Fix UNDI driver unload")]
introduced a bug in which in some [yet-to-be-determined] scenarios the
alternative flushing mechanism which was to guarantee the Rx buffers are
empty before resetting them during device probe will fail.
If this happens, when device will be loaded once more a fatal attention will
occur; Since this most likely happens in boot from SAN scenarios, the machine
will fail to load.
Notice this may occur not only in the 'Multi-Function' scenario but in the
regular scenario as well, i.e., this introduced a regression in the driver's
ability to perform boot from SAN.
The patch reverts the mechanism and applies the old scheme to multi-function
devices as well as to single-function devices.

bcmgenet_set_hw_params() will read the hardware version and compare it
with the one we are getting from Device Tree. Due to the clock being
enabled too late, bcmgenet_set_hw_params() will cause bus errors since
the GENET hardware block is still gated off by the time
bcmgenet_set_hw_params() is called, this will also make us fail the
version check since we will read the value 0 from the hardware.
Fix this by requesting the clock before the first piece of code that
needs to access hardware register.

drivers/net/Makefile
net/ipv6/sysctl_net_ipv6.c
Two ipv6_table_template[] additions overlap, so the index
of the ipv6_table[x] assignments needed to be adjusted.
In the drivers/net/Makefile case, we've gotten rid of the
garbage whereby we had to list every single USB networking
driver in the top-level Makefile, there is just one
"USB_NETWORKING" that guards everything.

d3f6f3a1d8 ("tg3: Prevent page allocation failure

HW TX rings that are enabled. This patch fixes the regression by modifying

bcmgenet_wol_resume() will create an unbalanced clock state for the
wol_clk clock pointer since everywhere else in the code, we always call
clk_prepare_enable() and clk_disable_unprepare(). This function also
calls init_umac() which is neither correct nor necessary since
bcmgenet_resume() and bcmgenet_open() already does that.
Finally calling bcmgenet_wol_resume() in bcmgenet_open() is not correct,
since the interface would not have been able to put us in Wake-on-LAN
mode if it was not UP before.

Support for Wake-on-LAN using Magic Packet with or without SecureOn
password is implemented doing the following:
- setting the password to the relevant UniMAC registers
- flagging the device as a wakeup source for the system, as well as
its Wake-on-LAN interrupt
- prepare the hardware for entering WoL mode
- enabling the MPD interrupt to wake us

third optional Wake-on-LAN interrupt line.

As soon as register_netdev() is called, the network device notifiers are
running which means that other parts of the kernel, or user-space
programs can call the network device ndo_open() callback and use the

Disable the Ethernet device clock before we register the network device
such that we do not create the following situation:
CPU0 CPU1
register_netdev()
bcmgenet_open()
clk_prepare_enable()
clk_disable_unprepare()
and leave the hardware block gated off, while we think it should be

The UniMAC CMD_SW_RESET bit is not a self-clearing bit, so we need to
assert it, wait a bit and clear it manually. As a result, umac_reset()
is updated not to return any value. The previous version of the code
simply wrote 0 to the CMD register, which would make the busy-waiting
loop exit immediately, having zero effect.
By writing 0 to the CMD register, we were clearing all bits in the CMD
register, and not using the hardware reset default values which are
set on purpose.

The SYSTEMPORT Ethernet MAC supports multicast just fine, it just lacks
any sort of Unicast/Broadcast/Multicasting filtering at the Ethernet MAC
level since that is handled by the front end Ethernet switch, but that
is properly handled by bcm_sysport_set_rx_mode().
Some user-space applications might be relying on the presence of this
flag to prevent using multicast sockets, this also prevents that
interface from joining the IPv6 all-router mcast group.

There are linux distributions where the inbox bnx2x driver contains SRIOV
support but doesn't contain the changes introduced in b9871bcf
"bnx2x: VF RSS support - PF side".
A VF in a VM running that distribution over a new hypervisor will access
incorrect addresses when trying to transmit packets, causing an attention
in the hypervisor and making that VF inactive until FLRed.
The driver in the VM has to ne upgraded [no real way to overcome this], but
due to the HW attention currently arising upgrading the driver in the VM
would not suffice [since the VF needs also be FLRed if the previous driver
was already loaded].
This patch causes the PF to fail the acquire message from a VF running an
old problematic driver; The VF will then gracefully fail it's probe preventing
the HW attention [and allow clean upgrade of driver in VM].
