7ebf721d0d ath10k: refactor firmware images to struct ath10k_fw_components
To make it easier to share ath10k_core_fetch_board_data_api_n() with testmode.c
refactor all firmware components to struct ath10k_fw_components. This structure
will hold firmware related files, for example firmware-N.bin and board-N.bin.

For firmware-N.bin create a new struct ath10k_fw_file which contains the actual
firmware image as well as the parsed data from the image.

Modify ath10k_core_start() to take struct ath10k_fw_components() as an argument
which makes it possible in following patches to drop some ugly hacks from
testmode.c.

7e247a9e88 ath10k: add dynamic tx mode switch config support for qca4019
push-pull mode needs certain amount the host driver involvement for
managing queues in the host memory and packet delivery to firmware.
qca4019 wifi firmware has an option to stay in push mode for less
number of active traffic flow and then switch to push-pull mode when
the active traffic flow goes beyond the certain limit.

The advantage of staying in push mode for less active traffic is, the
host cpu consumption is reduced. qca4019 firmware supports this
flexibility of the mode switch. It takes the host driver interest
(LOW_PERF/HIGH_PERF) via WMI_EXT_RESOURCE_CFG_CMDID,

LOW_PERF - fw would stay in push mode and switch to push-pull
               based on demand.
HIGH_PERF - fw would stay in push-pull mode from the boot.

To make this configuration generic, new WMI services
WMI_SERVICE_TX_MODE_PUSH_ONLY, WMI_SERVICE_TX_MODE_PUSH_PULL,
WMI_SERVICE_TX_MODE_DYNAMIC are introduced to take dynamic tx mode
switch support availability in firmware.
Based on WMI_SERVICE_TX_MODE_DYNAMIC, LOW_PERF or HIGHT_PERF is
configured to the firmware.

1ce8c1484e ath10k: fix rx_channel during hw reconfigure
Upon firmware assert, restart work will be triggered so that mac80211
will reconfigure the driver. An issue is reported that after restart
work, survey dump data do not contain in-use (SURVEY_INFO_IN_USE) info
for operating channel. During reconfigure, since mac80211 already has
valid channel context for given radio, channel context iteration return
num_chanctx > 0. Hence rx_channel is always NULL. Fix this by assigning
channel context to rx_channel when driver restart is in progress.

This enum is already perfectly aliased to enum nl80211_band, and
the only reason for it is that we get IEEE80211_NUM_BANDS out of

Provide a debugfs entry to enable/ disable Peer Stats feature.
Peer Stats feature is for developers/users who are more interested
in studying in Rx/Tx stats with multiple clients connected, hence
disable this by default. Enabling this feature by default results
in unneccessary processing of Peer Stats event for every 500ms
and updating peer_stats list (allocating memory) and cleaning it up
ifexceeds the higher limit and this can be an unnecessary overhead
during long run stress testing.

cac085524c ath10k: move mgmt descriptor limit handle under mgmt_tx
Frames that are transmitted via MGMT_TX are using reserved descriptor
slots in firmware. This limitation is for the htt_mgmt_tx path itself,
not for mgmt frames per se. In 16 MBSSID scenario, these reserved slots
will be easy exhausted due to frequent probe responses. So for 10.4
based solutions, probe responses are limited by a threshold (24).

management tx path is separate for all except tlv based solutions. Since
tlv solutions (qca6174 & qca9377) do not support 16 AP interfaces, it is
safe to move management descriptor limitation check under mgmt_tx
function. Though CPU improvement is negligible, unlikely conditions or
never hit conditions in hot path can be avoided on data transmission.

426e10eaf7 ath10k: implement push-pull tx
The current/old tx path design was that host, at
its own leisure, pushed tx frames to the device.
For HTT there was ~1000-1400 msdu queue depth.

After reaching that limit the driver would request
mac80211 to stop queues. There was little control
over what packets got in there as far as
DA/RA was considered so it was rather easy to
starve per-station traffic flows.

With MU-MIMO this became a significant problem
because the queue depth was insufficient to buffer
frames from multiple clients (which could have
different signal quality and capabilities) in an
efficient fashion.

Hence the new tx path in 10.4 was introduced: a
pull-push mode.

Firmware and host can share tx queue state via
DMA. The state is logically a 2 dimensional array
addressed via peer_id+tid pair. Each entry is a
counter (either number of bytes or packets. Host
keeps it updated and firmware uses it for
scheduling Tx pull requests to host.

This allows MU-MIMO to become a lot more effective
with 10+ clients.

c1a43d9720 ath10k: implement updating shared htt txq state
Firmware 10.4.3 onwards can support a pull-push Tx
model where it shares a Tx queue state with the
host.

The host updates the DMA region it pointed to
during HTT setup whenever number of software
queued from (on host) changes. Based on this
information firmware issues fetch requests to the
host telling the host how many frames from a list
of given stations/tids should be submitted to the
firmware.

The code won't be called because not all
appropriate HTT events are processed yet.

6942726f7f ath10k: add fast peer_map lookup
The pull-push functionality of 10.4 will be based
on peer_id and tid. These will need to be mapped,
eventually, to ieee80211_txq to be used with
ieee80211_tx_dequeue().

Iterating over existing stations every time
peer_id needs to be mapped to a station would be
inefficient wrt CPU time.

The new firmware, which will be the only user of
the code flow-wise, will guarantee to use low
peer_ids first so despite peer_map's apparent huge
size d-cache thrashing should not be a problem.

Older firmware hot paths will effectively not use
peer_map.

The 10.4.3 firmware with congestion control

The 1:1 mapping isn't the case for older firmwares

6421969f24 ath10k: refactor tx pending management
Tx pending counter logic assumed that the sk_buff
is already known and hence was performed in HTT
functions themselves.

However, for the sake of future wake_tx_queue()
usage the driver must be able to tell whether it
can submit more frames to firmware before it
dequeues frame from ieee80211_txq (and thus long
before HTT Tx functions are called) because once a
frame is dequeued it cannot be requeud back to
mac80211.

This prepares the driver for future changes.

bb58b89c5e ath10k: apply Mesh subtype when Mesh interface created.
QCA988X firmware starting from 10.2.4.70.12-2 has capability to support
Mesh Control Field Present bit in QoS field in native Wi-Fi mode.
Hence apply Mesh subtype according to the WMI service map.

Firmware will allows unicast, broadcast, multicast, and WDS frame
(FromDS = 1 and ToDS = 1) to be received via the interface, once Mesh
subtype is used.

The firmware and this patch together make native Wi-Fi mode comply to
IEEE802.11s Mesh frame in open mode, but the firmware doesn't yet
support secured Mesh mode.

d668dbaebe ath10k: fix tx header parsing
Frames are not guaranteed to be 802.11 frames in

d39de9919a ath10k: fix peerid configuration in htt tx desc for htt version < 3.4
Of a word in struct htt_data_tx_desc htt version >= 3.4 firmware uses
LSB 16-bit for frequency configuration which is used for offchannel tx
and MSB 16-bit is for peerid. But other firmwares using version 2.X
(10.1, 10.2.2, 10.2.4 and 10.4) are using 32-bit for peerid in htt tx
desc. So far no issue is found with the existing code setting peerid and
freq for HTT version 2.X, this could be mainly because of 0 as frequecy
(home channel) is being always passed with those firmwares. There may be
issues when non-zero freq is passed with firmware using < 3.4 htt version.
To be safe use target_version_major and target_version_minor along with
htt-op-version before configuring peer id and freq in htt tx desc. This
patch extends ath10k_mac_tx_frm_has_freq() to check for htt_op_version_tlv
and uses the helper while setting peerid in htt_tx_desc.

62f77f095c ath10k: enable adaptive CCA
European Union has made it mandatory that all devices working in 2.4 GHz
has to adhere to the ETSI specification (ETSI EN 300 328 V1.9.1)
beginnig this year. The standard basically speaks about interferences
in 2.4Ghz band.
For example, when 802.11 device detects interference, TX must be stopped
as long as interference is present.

Adaptive CCA is a feature, when enabled the device learns from the
environment and configures CCA levels adaptively. This will improve
detecting interferences and the device can stop trasmissions till the
interference is present eventually leading to good performances in
varying interference conditions.

The patch includes code for enabling adaptive CCA for 10.2.4 firmware on
QCA988X.

b6c7bafa7d ath10k: implement mesh support
Add support for mesh to ath10k. We simply use an AP virtual interface
in the firmware in order to enable beaconing without TSF adoption, and
use the raw (802.11) transmit mode.

Due to firmware limitations, the firmware must operate in raw
(non-native 802.11) mode. As this is configured at firmware init time,
a new "rawmode" modparam is added, and mesh interfaces are available
only if rawmode=true.  The firmware must advertise support for rawmode;
tested successfully with firmware 10.2.4.70.6-2.

When the module is loaded with (newly implemented) modparam rawmode=1, it
will enable operating an open mesh STA via something like the following:

    ip link set wlan0 down
iw dev wlan0 set type mp
    ip link set wlan0 up
    iw dev wlan0 set freq 5745 80 5775

6d2d51ecff ath10k: wake up queue upon vif creation
Vif's vdev_id is used as queue number. However due
to the tx pausing design in ath10k it was possible
for a new interface to be created with its tx
queue stopped (via ieee80211_stop_queues). This
could in turn leave the interface inoperable until
ath10k_mac_tx_unlock() was called.

This problem only affected multi-vif scenarios when
new interfaces were created some time later after
other interfaces have been running for some time
and had Tx queue full at some point prior.

Possible manifestation of the bug was
authentication timeout for a client vif.

92092fe528 ath10k: reject 11b tx fragmentation configuration
Even though there's a WMI enum for fragmentation
threshold no known firmware actually implements
it. Moreover it is not possible to rely frame
fragmentation to mac80211 because firmware clears
the "more fragments" bit in frame control making
it impossible for remote devices to reassemble
frames.

Hence implement a dummy callback just to say
fragmentation isn't supported. This effectively
prevents mac80211 from doing frame fragmentation
in software.

This fixes Tx becoming broken after setting
fragmentation threshold.

ccec9038c7 ath10k: enable raw encap mode and software crypto engine
This patch enables raw Rx/Tx encap mode to support software based
crypto engine. This patch introduces a new module param 'cryptmode'.

 cryptmode:

0: Use hardware crypto engine globally with native Wi-Fi mode TX/RX
encapsulation to the firmware. This is the default mode.
1: Use sofware crypto engine globally with raw mode TX/RX

Known limitation:

This introduces a number of helper functions/macros to set and to
test the bits, along with new debugfs code.

The occurrences of an explicit __clear_bit() are intentional, the
drivers were never supposed to change their supported bits on the
fly. We should investigate changing this to be a per-frame flag.

0e6eb417fc ath10k: fix channel switching
In the midst of chanctx patch review channel
switching became broken which I failed to notice
until now.

Function ath10k_mac_vif_chan() reports current
chandef which isn't updated until after
switch_vif_chanctx() is returned from.
Consequently the driver just restarted operation
on channels it was residing already instead of
switching to the new ones.

089ab7a5af ath10k: remove ath10k_chanctx struct
In practice there's no point in having a copy of
chanctx_conf.

Most of the time the channel pointer (and band
along with it) is accessed and this can't change
after a chanctx is created because switching is
done using explicit chanctx swapping via
switch_vif_chanctx().

The only thing that can change within a
chanctx_conf and is used by the driver is
radar_enabled and channel width. These are however
always accessed in adequate mac80211 callback
context which guarantees safe access to the
chanctx data.

45c9abc059 ath10k: implement more versatile set_bitrate_mask
Until now only a single fixed tx rate or nss was
allowed to be set.

The patch attempts to improve this by allowing
most bitrate masks. The limitation is VHT MCS
rates cannot be expressed separately using
existing firmware interfaces and only the
following VHT MCS ranges are supported: none, 0-7,
0-8, and 0-9.

This keeps the old behaviour when requesting
single tx rate or single nss. The new bitrate mask
logic is only applied to other cases that would
return -EINVAL until now.

Depending on firmware revisions some combinations
may crash firmware so use with care, please.

This depends on "ath10k: don't use reassoc flag".
Without it key cache would effectively be
invalidated upon bitrate change leading to
communication being no longer possible.

These work:

  iw wlan0 set bitrates legacy-5 6 12 ht-mcs-5 1 2 3
  iw wlan0 set bitrates legacy-5 ht-mcs-5 7 8 9
  iw wlan0 set bitrates legacy-5 24 ht-mcs-5 vht-mcs-5 1:0-9

These won't work:

  iw wlan0 set bitrates legacy-5 ht-mcs-5 vht-mcs-5 1:0-5
  iw wlan0 set bitrates vht-mcs-5 2:7-9

(note the invalid VHT MCS ranges)

0cd9bc147f ath10k: enable ibss-rsn
With latest additions to the driver it seems
viable to enable support for IBSS-RSN.

It seems to work on QCA988X and 999.999.0.636 but
is a bit slow to exchange RSN keys for some
reason. This may be a firmware quirk or ath10k is
missing something. Nevertheless it makes sense to
finally enable IBSS-RSN in ath10k even if somewhat
handicapped.

QCA6174 firmware doesn't seem to be able to Tx
EAPOL frames at all now (they get stuck in hw
queues for some reason) so it never gets to set
the keys in driver. It's fairly safe to assume that
once this is fixed IBSS-RSN will work with QCA6174
firmware without any additional changes. Hence no
special handling for advertising

ce90b27128 ath10k: fix multiple key static wep with ibss
Apparently firmware requires both pairwise and
groupwise keys to be installed per-peer for static
WEP in IBSS. This wasn't necessary for AP mode
(and installing both doesn't seem to break AP
mode thus there's no special handling).

Also there seems to be some kind of issue with
mapping tx/rx keys in firmware properly which
resulted in wrong keys being used and broken
communication between devices.

It can be argued the vdev param part is more of a
workaround than a real fix. However I couldn't
figure out how to fix this differently. It works

29a100065e ath10k: change static wep key handling for client mode

Without scan burst it was possible for firmware to

====================
Lots of updates for net-next; along with the usual flurry
of small fixes, cleanups and internal features we have:
 * VHT support for TDLS and IBSS (conditional on drivers though)
 * first TX performance improvements (the biggest will come later)
 * many suspend/resume (race) fixes
 * name_assign_type support from Tom Gundersen

8bad8dcd0c ath10k: strip qos data bit always
NativeWifi tx mode expects QoS Data frames to be
delivered as Data frames with QoS part (e.g. tid)
being delievered out-of-band in fw tx command.

The QoS bit wasn't stripped before submitting to
firmware.

Stripping fixes two known problems:

 * qca6174 IOT with some APs, e.g.
Cisco AIR-AP 1252 (which would crash after
ath10k association). Some ath9k APs would
   crash as well.

 * sniffing own tx frames via radiotap because,
e.g. wireshark was seeing QoS bit set but
since QoS Control was stripped in ath10k it
   would parse beginning of LLC/SNAP

>From debugability point of view this removes the
ability to distinguish QoS from non-QoS frames
when sniffing own tx via radiotap. On the other
hand frames can be now parsed correctly without
special software modification.

548462133d ath10k: fix interrupt storm
Promiscuous mode is enabled when wlan interface is added to
bridge. ath10k creates a monitor mode when promiscuous mode
is enabled. When monitor vdev is running along with other
vdev(s) there is a huge number of interrupts generated
especially in noisy condition. Fix this by not enabling
promiscuous(monitor) mode when already a vdev is running.
As disabling promiscuous mode may have issues with 4-address
bridging in STA mode, the change is done specific to non-sta/ibss
mode types. This does not change the support of virtual interface of
type monitor along with other vdevs of any type.

This could fix management frame drop in fw due to unavailable
buffers because in monitor mode device receives everything seen
on the air. In noisy condition, disabling monitor mode helps assoc
go through without any issue.

0a987fb006 ath10k: workaround qca6174 sta powersave issue
qca6184 WLAN.RM.2.0-00073 has a bug in sta
powersave state machine and requires peer param to
be poked to enable the powersave.

Calling this unconditionally should be safe for
other chips/firmwares.

6eb1813764 cfg80211: add bss_type and privacy arguments in cfg80211_get_bss()
802.11ad adds new a network type (PBSS) and changes the capability
field interpretation for the DMG (60G) band.
The same 2 bits that were interpreted as "ESS" and "IBSS" before are
re-used as a 2-bit field with 3 valid values (and 1 reserved). Valid
values are: "IBSS", "PBSS" (new) and "AP".

In order to get the BSS struct for the new PBSS networks, change the
cfg80211_get_bss() function to take a new enum ieee80211_bss_type
argument with the valid network types, as "capa_mask" and "capa_val"
no longer work correctly (the search must be band-aware now.)

The remaining bits in "capa_mask" and "capa_val" are used only for
privacy matching so replace those two with a privacy enum as well.

If firmware advertises support for TxBF then the

627613f8f0 ath10k: prevent setting wrong key idx for station
Ath10k driver sets wrong default key idx that results in
sending unicast frames with multicast key.

The reason for this behavior is that cached broadcast key
is installed for station MAC address on association. After
dot1x completes, unicast key is installed for station
MAC address. Default key idx is set to broadcast key id when
driver tries to send broadcast frame. This causes firmware
to use broadcast key id to transmit unicast frames to stations.

Used TX_USAGE flag to set default key for stations.

Added callback for setting unicast default idx which will be
invoked on every default key idx configuration.
