f608e6a60f i40evf: Update feature flags to reflect newly enabled features
Recent changes should have enabled support for IPv6 based tunnels and
support for TSO with outer UDP checksums.  As such we can update the
feature flags to reflect that.

In addition we can clean-up the flags that aren't needed such as SCTP and
RXCSUM since having the bits there doesn't add any value.

I also found one spot where we were setting the same flag twice.  It looks
like it was probably a git merge error that resulted in the line being
duplicated.  As such I have dropped it in this patch.

9b9344f7ce i40evf: set adapter state on reset failure
If a reset fails to complete, the driver gets its affairs in order and
awaits the cold solace of rmmod. Unfortunately, it was not properly
setting the adapter state, which would cause a panic on rmmod, instead
of the desired surcease.

Set the adapter state to DOWN in this case, and avoid a panic.

00e5ec4bcc i40evf: support packet split receive
Support packet split receive on VFs. This is off by default but can be
enabled using ethtool private flags. Because we need to trigger a reset
from outside of i40evf_main.c, create a new function to do so, and
export it.

Also update copyright year in file headers.

509a447ae8 i40evf: enable bus master after reset
If the VF is reset via VFLR, the device will be knocked out of bus
master mode, and the driver will fail to recover from the reset. Fix
this by enabling bus mastering after every reset. In a non-VFLR case,
the bus master bit will not be disabled, and this call will have no effect.

As done per ixgbe, use a private workqueue to avoid blocking the
system workqueue.  This avoids some strange side effects when
some other entity is depending on the system work queue.

10311540fa i40evf: null out ring pointers on free
Since we check these ring pointers to make sure we don't double-allocate
or double-free the rings, we had better null them out after we free
them. In very rare cases this can cause a panic if the driver is removed
during reset recovery.

209dc4daf2 i40evf: allow channel bonding of VFs
In some modes, bonding would not enslave VF interfaces. This is due to
bonding calling change_mtu and the immediately calling open. Because of
the asynchronous nature of the admin queue mechanism, the VF returns
-EBUSY to the open call, because it knows the previous operation hasn't
finished yet. This causes bonding to fail with a less-than-useful error
message.

To fix this, remove the check for pending operations at the beginning of
open. But this introduces a new bug where the driver will panic on a
quick close/open cycle. To fix that, we add a new driver state,
__I40EVF_DOWN_PENDING, that the driver enters when down is called. The
driver finally transitions to a fully DOWN state when it receives
confirmation from the PF driver that all the queues are disabled. This
allows open to complete even if there is a pending mtu change, and
bonding is finally happy.

53692b1de4 sctp: Rename NETIF_F_SCTP_CSUM to NETIF_F_SCTP_CRC
The SCTP checksum is really a CRC and is very different from the
standards 1's complement checksum that serves as the checksum
for IP protocols. This offload interface is also very different.
Rename NETIF_F_SCTP_CSUM to NETIF_F_SCTP_CRC to highlight these
differences. The term CSUM should be reserved in the stack to refer
to the standard 1's complement IP checksum.

fdb47ae87a i40evf: check rings before freeing resources
If the driver gets unloaded during reset recovery, it's possible
that it will attempt to free resources when they're already free.

Add a check to make sure that the Tx and Rx rings actually exist
before dereferencing them to free resources.

8ddb332689 i40e/i40evf: avoid mutex re-init
If the driver were to happen to have a mutex held while
the i40e_init_adminq call was called, the init_adminq might
inadvertently call mutex_init on a lock that was held
which is a violation of the calling semantics.

Fix this by avoiding adminq.c code allocating/freeing this memory, and
then do the same work only once in probe/remove.

Testing Hints (Required if no HSD): for VF, load i40evf in bare metal
and echo 32 > sriov_numvfs; echo 0 > sriov_numvfs in a loop.  Yes this
is a horrible thing to do.

1255b7a12e i40evf: increase max number of queues
Future devices will allow for more queue pairs, so allocate a netdev
that can handle them. While we're at it, get rid of the separate
MAX_TX/MAX_RX defines. Since we always get matched queue pairs, having
these makes no sense.

0dd438d8ad i40evf: allocate ring structs dynamically
Instead of awkwardly keeping a fixed array of pointers in the adapter
struct and then allocating ring structs individually, just keep a single
pointer and allocate a single blob for the arrays. This simplifies code,
shrinks the adapter structure, and future-proofs the driver by not
limiting the number of rings we can handle.

7d96ba1a8b i40evf: allocate queue vectors dynamically
Change the queue_vector array from a statically-sized member of the
adapter structure to a dynamically-allocated and -sized array.

This reduces the size of the adapter structure, and allows us to support
any number of queue vectors in the future without changing the code.

e743072fd1 i40evf: quoth the VF driver, Nevermore
If, upon a midnight dreary, the PF returns ERR_PARAM when the VF is
requesting resources, that's fatal. Either the firmware or NVM is badly,
badly misconfigured, or this VF has been disabled due to a previous VF
driver sending a bunch of bogus messages.

Either way, there is no recovery from this. Don't ponder weak and weary,
just quit.

cfbe4dba0d i40evf: fix compiler warning of unused variable

ed17f7e5d7 i40evf: clean up local variable initialization
In i40evf_msix_aq(), the first two lines of rd32() are mainly to clear
the registers. If we initialize 'val' at this point, it will be
overwritten immediately. We shall simply discard the return value here.

When we initialize 'val', we might as well include the mask in one step.

Not sure how this compiles at all. Use the correct struct for
manipulating the VLAN filter list. Without this, the VLAN filter
list doesn't get processed correctly, and VLAN filters will not
be re-enabled after any kind of reset.

ee2319cf17 i40e/i40evf: adjust interrupt throttle less frequently
The adaptive ITR (interrupt throttle rate) algorithm was adjusting
the hardware's interrupt rate too frequently.  This caused a lot
of variation in the interrupt rate for fairly constant workloads.

Change the code to have a counter and adjust only once every N
number of interrupts.

When the VF driver is unable to communicate with the PF, it just gives
up and never tries again. Aside from the obvious character flaw that
this shows, it's also a lousy user experience.

When PF communications fail, wait five seconds, and try again. And
again. Don't give up, little VF driver! Your prince will come!

3f7e5c330e i40evf: relax and stagger init timing a bit
On some devices, in some systems, in some configurations, the VFs would
fail to initialize the first time you loaded the driver.

To correct this, increase the delay time for the init task slightly, and
wait longer before giving up.

If we enable VFs and load the VF driver in the same kernel as the PF
driver, we can totally overwhelm the PF driver with AQ requests because
all of the instances try to initialize at the same time.

To help alleviate this, stagger the initial scheduling of the init task
using the PCIe function as a multiplier. We mask off the function to
only three bits so no instance has to wait too long.

With these two changes, initializing 128 VFs on a single device goes
from four minutes to just a few seconds.

cc7e406cb9 i40evf: correctly populate vlan_features
The vlan_features field was correctly being set to the same value as the
netdev features field. However, this was being done before the features
were actually being set up, leaving the vlan_features empty.

Also, after a reset, vlan_features will be incorrectly assigned the
previous netdev feature flags, which can contain VLAN feature bits. This
makes the VLAN code angry and will cause a stack dump.

To fix these issues, set up the netdev features first, then mask out the
VLAN feature bits when assigning vlan_features.

5be8308b16 i40evf: speed up init
Shorten up the delays in the init task, allowing the VF driver to
initialize faster. This aids performance in load/unload tests and
mitigates DMAR errors in VF enable/disable tests with absurdly short
delays. In the real world, the VF driver will come up more quickly.

The original values were set conservatively based on what we expected
from the firmware in terms of performance. Now that the driver is in use
and we know how well firmware responds to our requests, we can shorten
these delays.

The driver was not correctly handling calls to its ndo_set_mac_address
method. It did not properly check to see if the override would be
allowed by the PF driver, and never removed the old address from its
filter list.

Add a new flag to the adapter struct which is set if the MAC address is
assigned by the PF. Check this flag and don't allow the MAC address to
be changed if it is set. Search for and properly remove the filter
for the old MAC address when the new one is set.

ee5c1e92dd i40evf: detect reset more reliably
Using VFGEN_RSTAT to detect a VF reset is an endeavor that is fraught
with peril. It's entirely too easy to miss a reset because none of the
bits are sticky. By the time the VF driver reads the register, the reset
may have been processed and cleaned up by the PF driver, leaving the
register in the same state that it was before the reset.

Instead, detect a reset with the VF_ARQLEN register. When the VF is
reset, the enable bit in this register is cleared, and it stays cleared
until the VF driver processes the reset and re-enables the admin queue.

Because we now deal with multiple registers in the reset and watchdog
tasks, rename the rstat_val variable to reg_val.

Lower level functions are properly reporting errors, and higher-level
functions are correctly responding to errors, but the errors aren't
actually getting through. Typically, the middle-manager function seems
to want to shield its boss from any bad news.

This change fixes a panic if the driver is unable to enable MSI-X or is
unable to acquire enough vectors.

2f41f33586 i40e/i40evf: fix unicast mac address add
When using something like "ip maddr add ..." to add another unicast mac
address to the netdev, the mac address comes into the set_rx_mode handler
in the multicast list whether it is a unicast or multicast address.
This was confusing the code when it was trying to search for addresses
that needed to be deleted from the VSI, because it was looking for the
VSI unicast address in the netdev unicast list.  The result was that a
new unicast address would get added to the VSI list and then immediately
removed, and would never actually make it down into the hardware.

This patch removes the separation from unicast and multicast in the search
for filters to be deleted.  It also simplifies the logic a little with a
jump to the bottom of the loop when an address is found.  Now it doesn't
matter which netdev list the address is hiding in, we'll check them all.

9b32b0b5dd i40evf: tweak init timing
This patch tweaks the init timing of the driver just a little bit to
increase stability on load/unload and SR-IOV enable/disable cycles.

First, run the init_task loop a little quicker in order to reduce
overall init time.

Second, stagger the start of the init task based on the device's
PCIe function ID. This lessens the impact on the firmware when a
whole bunch of VFs are initialized simultaneously, e.g. enabling
SR-IOV without the VF driver blacklisted. For single VFs assigned
to VMs this will have no effect as the function ID will always be 0.

e6d038de13 i40evf: handle big resets
The most common type of reset that the VF will encounter is a PF reset
that cascades down into a VF reset for each VF. In this case, the VF
will always be assigned the same VSI and recovery is fairly simple.

However, in the case of 'bigger' resets, such as a Core or EMP reset,
when the device is reinitialized, it's probable that the VF will NOT get
the same VSI. When this happens, the VF will not be able to recover, as
it will continue to request resources for its original VSI.

Add an extra state to the admin queue state machine so that the driver
can re-request its configuration information at runtime. During reset
recovery, set this bit in the aq_required field, and fetch the (possibly
new) configuration information before attempting to bring the driver
back up. Since the driver doesn't know what kind of reset it has
encountered, this step is done even for a PF reset, but it doesn't hurt
anything - it just gets the same VSI back.

Due to an inverted conditional, the driver was marking all of its MAC
filters for deletion every time set_rx_mode was called. Depending upon
the timing of the calls to set_rx_mode and the processing of the admin
queue, the driver would (accidentally) end up with a varying number of
functional filters.

Correct this logic so that MAC filters are added and removed correctly.
Add a check for the driver's "hardware" MAC address so that this filter
doesn't get removed incorrectly.

973371da4d i40evf: Allow for an abundance of vectors
The driver currently only maps TX and RX queues to a single MSI-X vector
per queue pair if there are exactly enough vectors for this.
Unfortunately, if we have too many vectors it will fail and allocate
queues to vectors in a suboptimal manner. Change the condition check to
allow for excess vectors. In this case, the extras just won't be used.

The driver will only configure as many queues as there are available
CPUs, up the maximum number of queues. However, it always configures
RSS as though it is using the maximum number of queues. This can cause
the device to drop a lot of RX traffic, as the packets get assigned to
nonfunctional queues.

Fix this by only configuring RSS with the number of active queues.

67c818a1d5 i40evf: fix panic during MTU change
Down was requesting queue disables, but then exited immediately
without waiting for the queues to actually disable.  This could
allow any function called after i40evf_down to run immediately,
including i40evf_up, and causes a memory leak.

Removing the whole reinit_locked function is the best way
to go about this, and allows for the driver to handle the
state changes by requesting reset from the periodic timer.

Also, add a couple WARN_ONs in slow path to help us recognize
if we re-introduce this issue or missed any cases.

13acb54683 i40evf: protect VLAN filter list
The MAC filter list is protected by a critical task bit, and the VLAN
list should be protected as well. This prevents list corruption if the
watchdog happens to run at the same time as a VLAN filter is being added
or deleted.

63e18c2520 i40evf: resequence close operations
Call the netdev carrier off and TX disable functions first, before other
shutdown operations. This stops the stack from hitting us with
transmits while we're shutting down. Additionally, disable NAPI before
disabling interrupts, or the interrupt might get re-enabled
inappropriately. Finally, remove the call to netif_tx_stop_all_queues,
as it is redundant - the call to netif_tx_disable already did the same
thing.

e284fc88df i40evf: delay releasing rings
When the VF interface is closed, we cannot immediately free our rings
and RX buffers, because the hardware hasn't yet stopped accessing this
memory. This shows up as a panic or memory corruption when the device is
brought down while under heavy stress.

To fix this, delay releasing resources until we receive acknowledgment
from the PF driver that the rings have indeed been stopped. Because of
this delay, we also need to check to make sure that all of our admin
queue requests have been handled before allowing the device to be
opened.

97bf75f169 i40e/i40evf: fix accidental write to ITR registers
Fix a bug introduced in the force writeback code, where the interrupt
rate was set to 0 (maximum) by accident.

The driver must correctly set the NOITR fields to avoid ITR update
as a side effect of triggering the software interrupt.

3c8e0b989a i40vf: don't stop me now
If a reset occurs when the netdev is closed, the reset task will hang in
napi_disable, causing deadlocks and general grumpiness.

Check to make sure the device is actually running before stopping
everything. This allows the reset task to complete and have a real good
time.

54e16f64f0 i40evf: don't wait forever
Under rare circumstances, after a reset, set_rx_mode might get called
while the watchdog is running, which will cause a deadlock on the
critical section lock. To correct this, add a counter and give up trying
to get the lock after fifty tries. Log a message if this happens but
don't take any other action. Because this happens after a reset, all of
the Rx filters are still in place and the device won't lose
connectivity.

We can also get stuck during shutdown, if the PF has stopped communicating
with us, or if a reset is occurring. If we can't get the lock after a reasonable
amount of time, just error out. Something else bad is happening anyway, so
adding this filter is the least of our concern right now.

ac833bbf79 i40evf: refactor reset
A recent change to the shutdown flow messed up the reset flow. Since
i40evf_down now holds the critical section lock, we cannot call it from
the reset handler, which also holds the lock. To do so causes a deadlock
accompanied by wailing and gnashing of teeth. This is easily triggered
by running an ethtool self-test on the PF device.

Instead, we move the relevant portions of i40evf_down into the reset
handler and bend them to our will. Additionally, we can optimize the
reinit path by not deleting the MAC and VLAN filters and then adding
them back again. Instead, we just set the 'add' flag and let the
watchdog resynchronize the filter list with the PF driver. We also
reword a few messages to make them more consistent with the rest of the
driver.

a132af24e8 i40e/i40evf: Refactor the receive routines
Split the receive hot path code into two, one for packet split and one
for single buffer. This improves receive performance since we only need
to check if the ring is in packet split mode once per NAPI poll time,
not several times per packet. The single buffer code is further improved
by the removal of a bunch of code and several variables that are not
needed. On a receive-oriented test this can improve single-threaded
throughput.

Also refactor the packet split receive path to use a fixed buffer for
headers, like ixgbe does. This vastly reduces the number of DMA mappings
and unmappings we need to do, allowing for much better performance in
the presence of an IOMMU.

Lastly, correct packet split descriptor types now that we are actually
using them.

f4a718810c i40evf: reset on module unload
When the module is being unloaded, don't wait for the PF to politely
handle all of our admin queue requests, as that might take forever with
a lot of VFs enabled. Instead, just stop everything and request a VF
reset.

When the original shutdown code was written, VF resets were unreliable,
so we avoided them. But with production hardware and firmware, and the
1.x PF driver, this is no longer the case.

This fixes a potential multi-minute delay on driver unload, VF disable,
or system shutdown.
