406b0b6ae3 powerpc/64: Move 64-bit probe_machine() to later in the boot process
We no long need the machine type that early, so we can move probe_machine()
to after the device-tree has been expanded. This will allow further

c40785ad30 powerpc/dart: Use a cachable DART
Instead of punching a hole in the linear mapping, just use normal
cachable memory, and apply the flush sequence documented in the
CPC625 (aka U3) user manual.

This allows us to remove quite a bit of code related to the early
allocation of the DART and the hole in the linear mapping. We can
also get rid of the copy of the DART for suspend/resume as the
original memory can just be saved/restored now, as long as we
properly sync the caches.

95ec77c06e powerpc: Make ppc_md.{halt, restart} __noreturn
powernv marks it's halt and restart calls as __noreturn. However,
ppc_md does not have this annotation. Add the annotation to ppc_md,
and then to every halt/restart function that is missing it.

Additionally, I have verified that all of these functions do not
return. Occasionally I have added a spin loop to be sure.

8cc7581cdb powerpc/pci: Delay populating pdn
The pdn (struct pci_dn) instances are allocated from memblock or
bootmem when creating PCI controller (hoses) in setup_arch(). PCI
hotplug, which will be supported by proceeding patches, releases
PCI device nodes and their corresponding pdn on unplugging event.
The memory chunks for pdn instances allocated from memblock or
bootmem are hard to reused after being released.

This delays creating pdn by pci_devs_phb_init() from setup_arch()
to core_initcall() so that they are allocated from slab. The memory
consumed by pdn can be released to system without problem during
PCI unplugging time. It indicates that pci_dn is unavailable in
setup_arch() and the the fixup on pdn (like AGP's) can't be carried
out that time. We have to do that in pcibios_root_bridge_prepare()
on maple/pasemi/powermac platforms where/when the pdn is available.
pcibios_root_bridge_prepare is called from subsys_initcall() which
is executed after core_initcall() so the code flow does not change.

At the mean while, the EEH device is created when pdn is populated,
meaning pdn and EEH device have same life cycle. In turn, we needn't
call eeh_dev_init() to create EEH device explicitly.

00b912b0c8 powerpc: Remove broken GregorianDay()
GregorianDay() is supposed to calculate the day of the week
(tm->tm_wday) for a given day/month/year. In that calcuation it
indexed into an array called MonthOffset using tm->tm_mon-1. However
tm_mon is zero-based, not one-based, so this is off-by-one. It also
means that every January, GregoiranDay() will access element -1 of
the MonthOffset array.

It also doesn't appear to be a correct algorithm either: see in
contrast kernel/time/timeconv.c's time_to_tm function.

It's been broken forever, which suggests no-one in userland uses
this. It looks like no-one in the kernel uses tm->tm_wday either
(see e.g. drivers/rtc/rtc-ds1305.c:319).

tm->tm_wday is conventionally set to -1 when not available in
hardware so we can simply set it to -1 and drop the function.
(There are over a dozen other drivers in drivers/rtc that do
this.)

e5e16d8f3e powerpc: Kconfig: remove BE-only platforms from LE kernel build
Currently, little endian is only supported on powernv and pseries,
however, Kconfigs still allow us to include other platforms in a LE
kernel, this may result in space wasting or even build error if some
BE-only platforms always assume they are built for a BE kernel. So just
modify the Kconfigs of BE-only platforms to remove them from being built
for a LE kernel.

For 32bit only platforms, nothing needs to be done, because
CPU_LITTLE_ENDIAN depends on PPC64. For 64bit supported platforms, add
CPU_BIG_ENDIAN to dependencies explicitly, so that these platforms will
be disabled for LE [Suggested-by: Cédric Le Goater <clg@fr.ibm.com>].

798248a3c0 powerpc: dart_iommu: optionally populate controller_ops on init
If a pci_controller_ops struct is provided to iommu_init_early_dart,
populate that with the DMA setup ops, rather than ppc_md. If NULL is
provided, populate ppc_md as before.

This also patches the call sites for Maple and Power Mac to pass
NULL, so existing behaviour is preserved.

The benefit of making this optional is that it means we don't have
to change dart, Maple and Power Mac over to the controller_ops
system in one fell swoop.

9178ba294b powerpc: Convert power off logic to pm_power_off
The generic Linux framework to power off the machine is a function pointer
called pm_power_off. The trick about this pointer is that device drivers can
potentially implement it rather than board files.

Today on powerpc we set pm_power_off to invoke our generic full machine power
off logic which then calls ppc_md.power_off to invoke machine specific power
off.

However, when we want to add a power off GPIO via the "gpio-poweroff" driver,
this card house falls apart. That driver only registers itself if pm_power_off
is NULL to ensure it doesn't override board specific logic. However, since we
always set pm_power_off to the generic power off logic (which will just not
power off the machine if no ppc_md.power_off call is implemented), we can't
implement power off via the generic GPIO power off driver.

To fix this up, let's get rid of the ppc_md.power_off logic and just always use
pm_power_off as was intended. Then individual drivers such as the GPIO power off
driver can implement power off logic via that function pointer.

With this patch set applied and a few patches on top of QEMU that implement a
power off GPIO on the virt e500 machine, I can successfully turn off my virtual
machine after halt.

cad5cef62a POWERPC: drivers: remove __dev* attributes.
CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option.  As a result, the __dev*
markings need to be removed.

This change removes the use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata,
__devinitconst, and __devexit from these drivers.

Based on patches originally written by Bill Pemberton, but redone by me
in order to handle some of the coding style issues better, by hand.

Pull "Disintegrate and delete asm/system.h" from David Howells:

  I've built all the working defconfigs from all the arches that I can

  The reason for these patches is that I recently encountered a circular
  dependency problem that came about when I produced some patches to
  optimise get_order() by rewriting it to use ilog2().

  This uses bitops - and on the SH arch asm/bitops.h drags in
  asm-generic/get_order.h by a circuituous route involving asm/system.h.

  The main difficulty seems to be asm/system.h.  It holds a number of
  low level bits with no/few dependencies that are commonly used (eg.
  memory barriers) and a number of bits with more dependencies that
  aren't used in many places (eg.  switch_to()).

  These patches break asm/system.h up into the following core pieces:

    (1) asm/barrier.h

        Move memory barriers here.  This already done for MIPS and Alpha.

    (2) asm/switch_to.h

        Move switch_to() and related stuff here.

    (3) asm/exec.h

        Move arch_align_stack() here.  Other process execution related bits
        could perhaps go here from asm/processor.h.

    (4) asm/cmpxchg.h

        Move xchg() and cmpxchg() here as they're full word atomic ops and
        frequently used by atomic_xchg() and atomic_cmpxchg().

    (5) asm/bug.h

        Move die() and related bits.

    (6) asm/auxvec.h

        Move AT_VECTOR_SIZE_ARCH here.

  Other arch headers are created as needed on a per-arch basis."

Fixed up some conflicts from other header file cleanups and moving code
around that has happened in the meantime, so David's testing is somewhat

We already use pci_flags, so this just sets pci_flags directly and removes
the intermediate step of figuring out pci_probe_only, then using it to set
pci_flags.

The PCI core provides a pci_flags definition (currently __weak), so drop
the powerpc definitions in favor of that.

e55d7f737d powerpc/mpic: Remove duplicate MPIC_WANTS_RESET flag
There are two separate flags controlling whether or not the MPIC is
reset during initialization, which is completely unnecessary, and only
one of them can be specified in the device tree.

Also, most platforms in-tree right now do actually want to reset the
MPIC during initialization anyways, which means lots of duplicate code
passing the MPIC_WANTS_RESET flag.

Fix all of the callers which currently do not pass the MPIC_WANTS_RESET
flag to pass the MPIC_NO_RESET flag, then remove the MPIC_WANTS_RESET
flag and make the code reset the MPIC by default.

be8bec56df powerpc/mpic: Invert the meaning of MPIC_PRIMARY
It turns out that there are only 2 in-tree platforms which use MPICs
which are not "primary":  IBM Cell and PowerMac.  To reduce the
complexity of the typical board setup code, invert the MPIC_PRIMARY bit
into MPIC_SECONDARY.

5a0e3ad6af include cleanup: Update gfp.h and slab.h includes to prepare for breaking implicit slab.h inclusion from percpu.h
percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being
included when building most .c files.  percpu.h includes slab.h which
in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files
universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies.

percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed.  Prepare for
this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those
headers directly instead of assuming availability.  As this conversion
needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is
used as the basis of conversion.

The script does the followings.

* Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that
  only the necessary includes are there.  ie. if only gfp is used,
  gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h.

* When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include
  blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms
  to its surrounding.  It's put in the include block which contains
  core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered -
  alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there
  doesn't seem to be any matching order.

* If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly
  because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out
  an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the
  file.

The conversion was done in the following steps.

1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly
   over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h
   and ~3000 slab.h inclusions.  The script emitted errors for ~400
   files.

2. Each error was manually checked.  Some didn't need the inclusion,
   some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or
   embedding .c file was more appropriate for others.  This step added
   inclusions to around 150 files.

3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits
   from #2 to make sure no file was left behind.

4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed.
   e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab
   APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually.

5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically
   editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h
   files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell.  Most gfp.h
   inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually
   wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros.  Each
   slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as
   necessary.

6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h.

7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures
   were fixed.  CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my
   distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few
   more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things
   build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq).

   * x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config.
   * powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig
   * sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig
   * ia64 SMP allmodconfig
   * s390 SMP allmodconfig
   * alpha SMP allmodconfig
   * um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig

8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as
   a separate patch and serve as bisection point.

Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step
6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch.
If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch
headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of
the specific arch.

28794d34ec powerpc/kconfig: Kill PPC_MULTIPLATFORM
CONFIG_PPC_MULTIPLATFORM is a remain of the pre-powerpc days and isn't
really meaningful anymore. It was basically equivalent to PPC64 || 6xx.

This removes it along with the following changes:

 - 32-bit platforms that relied on PPC32 && PPC_MULTIPLATFORM now rely
   on 6xx which is what they want anyway.

 - A new symbol, PPC_BOOK3S, is defined that represent compliance with
   the "Server" variant of the architecture. This is set when either 6xx
   or PPC64 is set and open the door for future BOOK3E 64-bit.

 - 64-bit platforms that relied on PPC64 && PPC_MULTIPLATFORM now use
   PPC64 && PPC_BOOK3S

 - A separate and selectable CONFIG_PPC_OF_BOOT_TRAMPOLINE option is now
   used to control the use of prom_init.c

53378c2845 [POWERPC] maple: Use platform name in define_machine()
Prevailing practice for define_machine() in powerpc is to use the
platform name when the platform has only one define_machine()
statement, but maple uses "maple_md".  This caused me some
head-scratching when writing some new code that uses
machine_is(maple).

Use "maple" instead of "maple_md".  There should not be any behavioral
change -- fixup_maple_ide() calls machine_is(maple) but the body of
the function is ifdef'd out.

373a6da165 [POWERPC] Make non-PCI build work again
Maple and pasemi both require PCI as does CONFIG_OF_PLATFORM_PCI.
The default setting of CONFIG_ISA_DMA_API is set to match the protection
around the relevant routines in asm/dma.h.

I also had to remove the PMAC platform from the combined build.  The
precis is that to build a 64 bit kernel with no PCI, you can only include
pSeries and iSeries.

1bdb2867e5 [POWERPC] Remove gratuitous reads from maple PCI config space methods
The maple PCI configuration space write methods read the written
location immediately after the write is performed, presumably in order
to flush the write.  However, configuration space writes are not
allowed to be posted, making these reads gratuitous.  Furthermore,
this behavior potentially causes us to violate the PCI PM spec when
changing between e.g. D0 and D3 states, because a delay of up to 10ms
may be required before the OS accesses configuration space after the
write which initiates the transition.  It definitely causes a system
hang for me with a Broadcom 5721 PCIE network adapter, which is fixed
by this change.

Therefore this removes the gratuitous reads from u3_agp_write_config,
u3_ht_write_config, and u4_pcie_write_config.

3d5134ee83 [POWERPC] Rewrite IO allocation & mapping on powerpc64
This rewrites pretty much from scratch the handling of MMIO and PIO
space allocations on powerpc64.  The main goals are:

 - Get rid of imalloc and use more common code where possible
 - Simplify the current mess so that PIO space is allocated and
   mapped in a single place for PCI bridges
 - Handle allocation constraints of PIO for all bridges including
   hot plugged ones within the 2GB space reserved for IO ports,
   so that devices on hotplugged busses will now work with drivers
   that assume IO ports fit in an int.
 - Cleanup and separate tracking of the ISA space in the reserved
   low 64K of IO space. No ISA -> Nothing mapped there.

I booted a cell blade with IDE on PIO and MMIO and a dual G5 so
far, that's it :-)

With this patch, all allocations are done using the code in
mm/vmalloc.c, though we use the low level __get_vm_area with
explicit start/stop constraints in order to manage separate
areas for vmalloc/vmap, ioremap, and PCI IOs.

This greatly simplifies a lot of things, as you can see in the
diffstat of that patch :-)

A new pair of functions pcibios_map/unmap_io_space() now replace
all of the previous code that used to manipulate PCI IOs space.
The allocation is done at mapping time, which is now called from
scan_phb's, just before the devices are probed (instead of after,
which is by itself a bug fix). The only other caller is the PCI
hotplug code for hot adding PCI-PCI bridges (slots).

imalloc is gone, as is the "sub-allocation" thing, but I do beleive
that hotplug should still work in the sense that the space allocation
is always done by the PHB, but if you unmap a child bus of this PHB
(which seems to be possible), then the code should properly tear
down all the HPTE mappings for that area of the PHB allocated IO space.

I now always reserve the first 64K of IO space for the bridge with
the ISA bus on it. I have moved the code for tracking ISA in a separate
file which should also make it smarter if we ever are capable of
hot unplugging or re-plugging an ISA bridge.

This should have a side effect on platforms like powermac where VGA IOs
will no longer work. This is done on purpose though as they would have
worked semi-randomly before. The idea at this point is to isolate drivers
that might need to access those and fix them by providing a proper
function to obtain an offset to the legacy IOs of a given bus.
