b558dfd56a Merge tag 'drm-misc-next-2017-03-06' of git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/drm-misc into drm-next
First slice of drm-misc-next for 4.12:

Core/subsystem-wide:
- link status core patch from Manasi, for signalling link train fail
to userspace. I also had the i915 patch in here, but that had a
small buglet in our CI, so reverted.
- more debugfs_remove removal from Noralf, almost there now (Noralf
said he'll try to follow up with the stragglers).
- drm todo moved into kerneldoc, for better visibility (see
Documentation/gpu/todo.rst), lots of starter tasks in there.
- devm_ of helpers + use it in sti (from Ben Gaignard, acked by Rob
  Herring)
- extended framebuffer fbdev support (for fbdev flipping), and vblank
wait ioctl fbdev support (Maxime Ripard)
- misc small things all over, as usual
- add vblank callbacks to drm_crtc_funcs, plus make lots of good use
of this to simplify drivers (Shawn Guo)
- new atomic iterator macros to unconfuse old vs. new state

Small drivers:
- vc4 improvements from Eric
- vc4 kerneldocs (Eric)!
- tons of improvements for dw-mipi-dsi in rockchip from John Keeping
  and Chris Zhong.
- MAINTAINERS entries for drivers managed in drm-misc. It's not yet
official, still an experiment, but definitely not complete fail and
better to avoid confusion. We kinda screwed that up with drm-misc a
bit when we started committers last year.
- qxl atomic conversion (Gabriel Krisman)
- bunch of virtual driver polish (qxl, virgl, ...)
- misc tiny patches all over

This is the first time we've done the same merge-window blackout for
drm-misc as we've done for drm-intel for ages, hence why we have a
_lot_ of stuff queued already. But it's still only half of drm-intel
(room to grow!), and the drivers in drm-misc experiment seems to work
at least insofar as that you also get lots of driver updates here
alredy.

64b0e1d6c6 drm: exynos: use vblank hooks in struct drm_crtc_funcs
The vblank hooks in struct drm_driver are deprecated and only meant for
legacy drivers. For modern drivers with DRIVER_MODESET flag, the hooks
in struct drm_crtc_funcs should be used instead.

As the result, exynos_drm_crtc_enable[disable]_vblank() become static
functions. They are moved around a bit to save forward declaration
though. Also while at it, we move one step further to kill
exynos_drm_crtc_from_pipe() completely by updating hdmi_bind() a bit.

967dd48417 drm: remove drm_vblank_no_hw_counter assignment from driver code
Core code already makes drm_driver.get_vblank_counter hook optional by
letting drm_vblank_no_hw_counter be the default implementation for the
function hook. So the drm_vblank_no_hw_counter assignment in the driver
code becomes redundant and can be removed now.

e4563f6ba7 drm: Rely on mode_config data for fb_helper initialization
Instead of receiving the num_crts as a parameter, we can read it
directly from the mode_config structure. I audited the drivers that

I used the following coccinelle hack to make this transformation, except
for the function headers and comment updates. The first and second
rules are split because I couldn't find a way to remove the unused
temporary variables at the same time I removed the parameter.

e41456bfc8 drm/exynos: g2d: prevent integer overflow in
The size computations done in the ioctl function use an integer.
If userspace submits a request with req->cmd_nr or req->cmd_buf_nr
set to INT_MAX, the integer computations overflow later, leading
to potential (kernel) memory corruption.

Prevent this issue by enforcing a limit on the number of submitted
commands, so that we have enough headroom later for the size
computations.

Note that this change has no impact on the currently available
users in userspace, like e.g. libdrm/exynos.

While at it, also make a comment about the size computation more
detailed.

41cbf0fdaa drm/exynos: use atomic helper commit
This patch replaces specific atomic commit function
with atomic helper commit one.

For this, it removes existing atomic commit function
and relevant code specific to Exynos DRM and makes
atomic helper commit to be used instead.

Below are changes for the use of atomic helper commit:
- add atomic_commit_tail callback specific to Exynos DRM
. default implemention of atomic helper doesn't mesh well
with runtime PM so the device driver which supports runtime
    PM should call drm_atomic_helper_commit_modeset_enables function
    prior to drm_atomic_helper_commit_planes function call.
atomic_commit_tail callback implements this call ordering.
- allow plane commit only in case that CRTC device is enabled.
. for this, it calls atomic_helper_commit_planes function
with DRM_PLANE_COMMIT_ACTIVE_ONLY flag in atomic_commit_tail callback.

3806a271bf Merge tag 'drm-misc-next-2016-12-30' of git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/drm-misc into drm-next
First -misc pull for 4.11:
- drm_mm rework + lots of selftests (Chris Wilson)
- new connector_list locking+iterators
- plenty of kerneldoc updates
- format handling rework from Ville
- atomic helper changes from Maarten for better plane corner-case handling
in drivers, plus the i915 legacy cursor patch that needs this
- bridge cleanup from Laurent
- plus plenty of small stuff all over
- also contains a merge of the 4.10 docs tree so that we could apply the
  dma-buf kerneldoc patches

It's a lot more than usual, but due to the merge window blackout it also
covers about 4 weeks, so all in line again on a per-week basis. The more
annoying part with no pull request for 4 weeks is managing cross-tree
work. The -intel pull request I'll follow up with does conflict quite a
bit with -misc here. Longer-term (if drm-misc keeps growing) a
drm-next-queued to accept pull request for the next merge window during
this time might be useful.

I'd also like to backmerge -rc2+this into drm-intel next week, we have
quite a pile of patches waiting for the stuff in here.

272725c7db drm: Nuke fb->bits_per_pixel
Replace uses of fb->bits_per_pixel with fb->format->cpp[0]*8.
Less duplicated information is a good thing.

Note that I didn't put parens around the cpp*8 in the below cocci script,
on account of not wanting spurious parens all over the place. Instead I
did the unsafe way, and tried to look over the entire diff to spot if
any dangerous expressions were produced. I didn't see any.

There are some cases where previously the code did X*bpp/8, so the
division happened after the multiplication. Those are now just X*cpp
so the division effectively happens before the multiplication,
but that is perfectly fine since bpp is always a multiple of 8.

1a29d85eb0 mm: use vmf->address instead of of vmf->virtual_address
Every single user of vmf->virtual_address typed that entry to unsigned
long before doing anything with it so the type of virtual_address does
not really provide us any additional safety. Just use masked
vmf->address which already has the appropriate type.

4e77524926 drm/exynos: Use VIDEO_SAMSUNG_EXYNOS_GSC=n as GSC Kconfig dependency
Commit aeefb36832 ("drm/exynos: gsc: add device tree support and remove
usage of static mappings") made the DRM_EXYNOS_GSC Kconfig symbol to only
be selectable if the exynos-gsc V4L2 driver isn't enabled, since both use
the same HW IP block.

But added the dependency as depends on !VIDEO_SAMSUNG_EXYNOS_GSC which is
not correct since Kconfig expressions are not boolean but tristate. So it
will only evaluate to 'n' if VIDEO_SAMSUNG_EXYNOS_GSC=y but will evaluate
to 'm' if VIDEO_SAMSUNG_EXYNOS_GSC=m.

This means that both the V4L2 and DRM drivers can be enabled if the former
is enabled as a module, which isn't what we want since otherwise 2 drivers
could attempt to use the hardware at the same time.
