77d8443449 clocksource: samsung_pwm_timer: Let platforms select the driver
This patch modifies the way of enabling the driver to let the platforms
select it in their Kconfig instead of specifying particular platforms in
Kconfig entry of the driver.

f31c2f1c68 ARM: arch_timer: Silence debug preempt warnings
Hot-plugging with CONFIG_DEBUG_PREEMPT=y on a device with arm
architected timers causes a slew of "using smp_processor_id() in
preemptible" warnings:

BUG: using smp_processor_id() in preemptible [00000000] code: sh/111
  caller is arch_timer_cpu_notify+0x14/0xc8

This happens because sometimes the cpu notifier,
arch_timer_cpu_notify(), is called in preemptible context and
other times in non-preemptible context but we use this_cpu_ptr()
to retrieve the clockevent in all cases. We're only going to
actually use the pointer in non-preemptible context though, so
push the this_cpu_ptr() access down into the cases to force the
checks to occur only in non-preemptible contexts.

ea7113f70d clocksource: nomadik-mtu: fix up clocksource/timer

f11899894c clocksource: add samsung pwm timer driver
This adds a new clocksource driver for the PWM timer that is
present in most Samsung SoCs, based on the existing driver in
arch/arm/plat-samsung/samsung-time.c and many changes implemented by
Tomasz Figa.

Originally, the conversion of all Samsung machines to the new driver was
planned for 3.10, but that work ended up being too late and too invasive
just before the merge window.

Unfortunately, other changes in the Exynos platform resulted in some
Exynos4 setups, particularly the Universal C210 board to be broken. In
order to fix that with minimum risk, so we now leave the existing pwm
clocksource driver in place for all older platforms and use the new
driver only for device tree enabled boards. This way, we can get the
broken machines running again using DT descriptions.

All clocksource changes were implemented by Tomasz, while the DT
registration was rewritten by Arnd.

034c097ca2 clocksource: exynos_mct: remove platform header dependency
For the non-DT case, the mct_init() function requires access
to a couple of platform specific constants, but cannot include
the header files in case we are building for multiplatform.

This changes the interface to the platform so we pass all
the necessary data as arguments to mct_init.

There is currently no alternative implementation for of_irq_count
when the function is not defined, and the declaration is hidden,
so this works around calling an undeclared function. It should
really not be needed.

This has a nasty set of conflicts with the exynos MCT code, which was
moved in a separate branch, and then fixed up when merged in, but still
conflicts a bit here. It should have been sorted out by this merge though.

0583fe478a ARM: convert arm/arm64 arch timer to use CLKSRC_OF init
This converts arm and arm64 to use CLKSRC_OF DT based initialization for
the arch timer. A new function arch_timer_arch_init is added to allow for
arch specific setup.

This has a side effect of enabling sched_clock on omap5 and exynos5. There
should not be any reason not to use the arch timers for sched_clock.

119fd635e3 clocksource: sunxi: Rename sunxi to sun4i
During the introduction of the Allwinner SoC platforms, sunxi was
initially meant as a generic name for all the variants of the Allwinner
SoC.

It was ok at the time of the support of only the A10 and A13 that
looks pretty much the same, but it's beginning to be troublesome with
the future addition of the Allwinner A31 (sun6i) that is quite
different, and would introduce some weird logic, where sunxi would
actually mean in some case sun4i and sun5i but without sun6i...

Moreover, it makes the compatible strings naming scheme not consistent
with other architectures, where usually for this kind of compability, we
just use the oldest SoC name that has this IP, so let's do just this.

This adds support for the Broadcom timer, used in the following SoCs:
BCM11130, BCM11140, BCM11351, BCM28145, BCM28155

Updates from V6:
- Split DT portion into a separate patch

Updates from V5:
- Rebase to latest arm-soc/for-next

Updates from V4:
- Switch code to use CLOCKSOURCE_OF_DECLARE

Updates from V3:
- Migrate to 3.9 timer framework updates

Updates from V2:
- prepend static fns + fields with kona_

Updates from V1:
- Rename bcm_timer.c to bcm_kona_timer.c
- Pull .h into bcm_kona_timer.c
- Make timers static
- Clean up comment block
- Switched to using clockevents_config_and_register
- Added an error to the get_timer loop if it repeats too much
- Added to Documentation/devicetree/bindings/arm/bcm/bcm,kona-timer.txt
- Added missing readl to timer_disable_and_clear

Note: bcm,kona-timer was kept as the 'compatible' field to make it
specific enough for when there are multiple bcm timers (bcm, timer is
too generic).

1a32c58bb9 arm-soc: mvebu platform changes
This series contains changes for the Marvell EBU platforms (mvebu,
orion, kirkwood, dove) that were not part of the first set of pull
requests because of dependencies on the MMC tree, and being submitted
 a little late.

 Notable changes are:

 * More devices get moved out of board files into device tree
descriptions. The remaining devices listed in there have patches
that will get sent for 3.10, after which we can remove a lot of the
board files entirely. We are doing the pinctrl and mmc drivers here,
   ethernet and PCI still remain.

 * SMP support for mvebu is improved with support for the
   local interrupt controller.

 * The Guruplug board file gets replaced with a DT description.

Unfortunately, the dependency on the MMC tree turned out to be a much
larger problem than expected, when the MMC maintainer rebased the patches
in his tree that all of the patches in this branch are based on, which
caused merge conflicts between the new and old versions of those patches.

To work around the merge conflicts, this branch rebases all patches
on top of the respective MMC patches that did get merged into 3.9.
The patches are all identical to the versions that were part of
linux-next, but have a new commit date.

 Merge conflicts:

 * in board-nsa310.c, the gpio.h inclusion was removed prematurely and
put back as a bug fix earlier. With this series it is really not needed
   any more.

 * The patch to add rtc support was already applied by Andrew Morton,
and conflicts with a second copy that was in this series, which adds
a lot of other devices to arch/arm/boot/dts/armada-370-xp.dtsi.

other patches merged through the arm-soc tree. In combination with
patches coming through Russell's tree, this will finally add full

been awaited for some time now.

Further, we now have a separate platform for virtual machines

these from the Versatile Express reference implementation.
Obviously, this new platform is multiplatform capable so it
can be combined with existing machines in the same kernel.

b274776c54 arm-soc: cleanups
A large number of cleanups, all over the platforms. This is dominated
largely by the Samsung platforms (s3c, s5p, exynos) and a few of the
others moving code out of arch/arm into more appropriate subsystems.
The clocksource and irqchip drivers are now abstracted to the point
where platforms that are already cleaned up do not need to even specify
the driver they use, it can all get configured from the device tree
as we do for normal device drivers. The clocksource changes basically
touch every single platform in the process.

We further clean up the use of platform specific header files here,
with the goal of turning more of the platforms over to being
"multiplatform" enabled, which implies that they cannot expose
their headers to architecture independent code any more.

It is expected that no functional changes are part of the cleanup.
The overall reduction in total code lines is mostly the result of
 removing broken and obsolete code.

1aee5d7a81 arm64: move from arm_generic to arm_arch_timer
The arch_timer driver supports a superset of the functionality of the
arm_generic driver, and is not tied to a particular arch.

This patch moves arm64 to use the arch_timer driver, gaining additional
functionality in doing so, and removes the (now unused) arm_generic
driver. Timer-related hooks specific to arm64 are moved into
arch/arm64/kernel/time.c.

8a4da6e36c arm: arch_timer: move core to drivers/clocksource
The core functionality of the arch_timer driver is not directly tied to
anything under arch/arm, and can be split out.

This patch factors out the core of the arch_timer driver, so it can be
shared with other architectures. A couple of functions are added so
that architecture-specific code can interact with the driver without
needing to touch its internals.

The ARM_ARCH_TIMER config variable is moved out to
drivers/clocksource/Kconfig, existing uses in arch/arm are replaced with
HAVE_ARM_ARCH_TIMER, which selects it.

6bb27d7349 ARM: delete struct sys_timer
Now that the only field in struct sys_timer is .init, delete the struct,
and replace the machine descriptor .timer field with the initialization
function itself.

This will enable moving timer drivers into drivers/clocksource without
having to place a public prototype of each struct sys_timer object into
include/linux; the intent is to create a single of_clocksource_init()
function that determines which timer driver to initialize by scanning
the device dtree, much like the proposed irqchip_init() at:
http://www.spinics.net/lists/arm-kernel/msg203686.html

Includes mach-omap2 fixes from Igor Grinberg.

8726e96fcb ARM: ux500: convert timer suspend/resume to clock_event_device
Move ux500's timer suspend/resume functions from struct sys_timer
ux500_timer into struct clock_event_device nmdk_clkevt. This
will allow the sys_timer suspend/resume fields to be removed, and
eventually lead to a complete removal of struct sys_timer.

b8edf848e9 ARM: arm-soc: multiplatform conversion patches
Here are more patches in the progression towards multiplatform, sparse
 irq conversions in particular.

Tegra has a handful of cleanups and general groundwork, but is
not quite there yet on full enablement.

Platforms that are enabled through this branch are VT8500 and Zynq. note
that i.MX was converted in one of the earlier cleanup branches as
well (before we started a separate topic for multiplatform). And both
new platforms for this merge window, sunxi and bcm, were merged with
 multiplatform support enabled.

1f75ff0a3d arm64: generic timer: use virtual counter instead of physical at EL0
We want to use the virtual counter at EL0, as the physical counter
may not track the current clocksource for guests running under a

This patch updates the vdso and generic timer driver to use the virtual
counter. The kernel EL2 entry code is also updated to ensure that the
virtual offset is initialised to zero.
