dc976c09da [netdrvr] ibmtr: PCMCIA IBMTR is ok on 64bit
For whatever value of 'OK' can be applied to the use of token ring. Seems
the 32bit to 64bit cleanups missed re-enabling the pcmcia driver

Closes #7133 and also reviewed the code in question

113aa838ec net: Rationalise email address: Network Specific Parts
Clean up the various different email addresses of mine listed in the code
to a single current and valid address. As Dave says his network merges
for 2.6.28 are now done this seems a good point to send them in where
they won't risk disrupting real changes.

ed4cb1337b netdev: uniquify the tx_timeout name
there's several drivers that have use "tx_timeout" for the .. tx
timeout function. All fine with that, they're static, however for
doing stats on how often which driver hits the timeout it's a tad
unfortunate. The patch below gives the ones I found in the
kerneloops.org database unique names.

2f3061eb10 pcmcia: remove unused argument to pcmcia_parse_tuple()
Since we're just parsing the tuple being passed to this function, we don't
need any device-specific information.

Also, remove the call to pcmcia_validate_cis() from pcmciamtd.c, since it
is already called by the PCMCIA core.

b665982409 3c574, 3c515 bitfields abuse
wn3_config is shared by these cards; the way we deal with it is both bad C
(union abuse) and broken on big-endian. For 3c515 it's less serious (ISA
cards are quite rare outside of little-endian boxen), but 3c574 is a pcmcia
one and that'd better be endian-independent... Fix is the same in both
cases.

b1e247ad8e 3c574 and 3c589 endianness fixes (.24?)
Both store MAC address in CIS; there's no decoder for that
type (0x88) so the drivers work with raw data. It is
byteswapped, so ntohs() works for little-endian, but for
big-endian it's wrong.  ntohs(le16_to_cpu()) does the
right thing on both (and always expands to swab16()).

59faba1b31 Fix Kconfig dependency problems wrt boolean menuconfigs
If one has a dependency chain (tristate)FOO depends on (bool)BAR depends on
(tristate)BAZ, build problems will result. If BAZ=m, then BAR can be set
y, which allows FOO=y.  It's possible to have FOO=y && BAZ=m, which
wouldn't be allowed if FOO depended directly on BAZ. In effect, the bool
promotes the tristate from m to y.

This ends up causing a problem with several menuconfigs that look like:

menuconfig BAR
	bool
	depends on BAZ [tristate]
if BAR
config FOO
	tristate
endif

The solution used here is to add the dependencies of BAR to the if
statement, so that items in the if block will gain a direct
non-bool-promoted dependency on BAZ. This is how it would work if a menu
was used instead of an if block.

5bebf82fff Fix hang on IBM Token Ring PCMCIA card ejection
Ejecting a PCMCIA IBM Token Ring card that has not had its dev->open()
called will reliably trigger an uninitialized spinlock oops when
spinlock debugging is enabled. The system then hangs, occasionally
softlockup oopsing. Apparently ibmtr.c:tok_interrupt() doesn't expect
to be called before tok_open(), but tok_interrupt() gets called anyway
when the card is ejected. So, set an already-existing flag which
causes tok_interrupt() to bail out early upon card ejection. Tested by
inserting and removing the PCMCIA card several times.

7d12e780e0 IRQ: Maintain regs pointer globally rather than passing to IRQ handlers
Maintain a per-CPU global "struct pt_regs *" variable which can be used instead
of passing regs around manually through all ~1800 interrupt handlers in the
Linux kernel.

The regs pointer is used in few places, but it potentially costs both stack
space and code to pass it around. On the FRV arch, removing the regs parameter
from all the genirq function results in a 20% speed up of the IRQ exit path
(ie: from leaving timer_interrupt() to leaving do_IRQ()).

Where appropriate, an arch may override the generic storage facility and do
something different with the variable. On FRV, for instance, the address is
maintained in GR28 at all times inside the kernel as part of general exception
handling.

Having looked over the code, it appears that the parameter may be handed down
through up to twenty or so layers of functions. Consider a USB character
device attached to a USB hub, attached to a USB controller that posts its
interrupts through a cascaded auxiliary interrupt controller. A character
device driver may want to pass regs to the sysrq handler through the input
layer which adds another few layers of parameter passing.

I've build this code with allyesconfig for x86_64 and i386. I've runtested the
main part of the code on FRV and i386, though I can't test most of the drivers.
I've also done partial conversion for powerpc and MIPS - these at least compile
with minimal configurations.

This will affect all archs. Mostly the changes should be relatively easy.
Take do_IRQ(), store the regs pointer at the beginning, saving the old one:

	struct pt_regs *old_regs = set_irq_regs(regs);

And put the old one back at the end:

	set_irq_regs(old_regs);

Don't pass regs through to generic_handle_irq() or __do_IRQ().

In timer_interrupt(), this sort of change will be necessary:

	-	update_process_times(user_mode(regs));
	-	profile_tick(CPU_PROFILING, regs);
	+	update_process_times(user_mode(get_irq_regs()));
	+	profile_tick(CPU_PROFILING);

I'd like to move update_process_times()'s use of get_irq_regs() into itself,
except that i386, alone of the archs, uses something other than user_mode().

Some notes on the interrupt handling in the drivers:

 (*) input_dev() is now gone entirely. The regs pointer is no longer stored in
     the input_dev struct.

 (*) finish_unlinks() in drivers/usb/host/ohci-q.c needs checking. It does
     something different depending on whether it's been supplied with a regs
     pointer or not.

 (*) Various IRQ handler function pointers have been moved to type
     irq_handler_t.

5b057c6b1a [NET]: Avoid allocating skb in skb_pad
First of all it is unnecessary to allocate a new skb in skb_pad since
the existing one is not shared. More importantly, our hard_start_xmit
interface does not allow a new skb to be allocated since that breaks
requeueing.

This patch uses pskb_expand_head to expand the existing skb and linearize
it if needed. Actually, someone should sift through every instance of
skb_pad on a non-linear skb as they do not fit the reasons why this was
originally created.

Incidentally, this fixes a minor bug when the skb is cloned (tcpdump,
TCP, etc.). As it is skb_pad will simply write over a cloned skb. Because
of the position of the write it is unlikely to cause problems but still
it's best if we don't do it.

9b41046cd0 [PATCH] Don't pass boot parameters to argv_init[]
The boot cmdline is parsed in parse_early_param() and
parse_args(,unknown_bootoption).

And __setup() is used in obsolete_checksetup().

	start_kernel()
		-> parse_args()
			-> unknown_bootoption()
				-> obsolete_checksetup()

If __setup()'s callback (->setup_func()) returns 1 in
obsolete_checksetup(), obsolete_checksetup() thinks a parameter was
handled.

If ->setup_func() returns 0, obsolete_checksetup() tries other
->setup_func(). If all ->setup_func() that matched a parameter returns 0,
a parameter is seted to argv_init[].

Then, when runing /sbin/init or init=app, argv_init[] is passed to the app.
If the app doesn't ignore those arguments, it will warning and exit.

This patch fixes a wrong usage of it, however fixes obvious one only.

e2d4096365 [PATCH] pcmcia: use bitfield instead of p_state and state
Instead of the two status values struct pcmcia_device->p_state and state,
use descriptive bitfields. Most value-checking in drivers was invalid, as
the core now only calls the ->remove() (a.k.a. detach) function in case the
attachement _and_ configuration was successful.

2fe22a8bba [PATCH] pcmcia: add id for AMB8110 PC Card
The axnet_cs driver can support the AMB8110 PC Card, so add the id for it.

In the old pcmcia-cs config file, this card is listed with the comment "not
specific enough". The last entry in the axnet_ids has the same comment.
They are disabled, and for good reason as it was originally identified by
the MANFID, and that is shared with several cards that use both the
pcnet_cs driver and axnet_cs driver.  I tried my AMB8110 with pcnet_cs, and
found that it works fine, and I cannot find a reason for either, except
that the old config file recommended axnet_cs.

f8cfa618dc [PATCH] pcmcia: unify attach, EVENT_CARD_INSERTION handlers into one probe callback
Unify the EVENT_CARD_INSERTION and "attach" callbacks to one unified
probe() callback. As all in-kernel drivers are changed to this new
callback, there will be no temporary backwards-compatibility. Inside a
probe() function, each driver _must_ set struct pcmcia_device
*p_dev->instance and instance->handle correctly.

With these patches, the basic driver interface for 16-bit PCMCIA drivers
now has the classic four callbacks known also from other buses:

        int (*probe)            (struct pcmcia_device *dev);
        void (*remove)          (struct pcmcia_device *dev);

        int (*suspend)          (struct pcmcia_device *dev);
        int (*resume)           (struct pcmcia_device *dev);

93ad4fb04f [PATCH] pcnet_cs.c: IRQ handler optimization
During some performance diagnostics I stumbled on this slightly wasteful
code in pcnet_cs.c which I made the patch included at the bottom for (two
minor comment fixes included).

Improvement:
instead of *always* calculating
lea    0x2c0(%edx),%ebx
and then additionally doing the
mov    %edx,0xc0(%ebx)
addition *if we need it*,

we now do the *whole* calculation of
mov    %edx,0x380(%ebx)
*only* if we need it.
This even manages to save us a whole 16-byte alignment buffer loss
in this compilation case.

Result: slightly improves IRQ handler performance in both shared and
non-shared IRQ case, which should make my rusty P3/700 a slight bit happier.

Thank you for your support,

Andreas Mohr

0e396ee43e Manual merge of rsync://rsync.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jgarzik/netdev-2.6.git
This is a fixed-up version of the broken "upstream-2.6.13" branch, where
I re-did the manual merge of drivers/net/r8169.c by hand, and made sure
the history is all good.

4638aef40b [PATCH] smc91c92_cs: Reduce stack usage in smc91c92_event()
This patch reduces the stack usage of the function smc91c92_event() in
smc91c92_cs driver from 3540 to 132. Currently this is the highest stack
user in linux-2.6.12-rc2-mm3. I used a patched version of gcc 3.4.3 on
i386 with -fno-unit-at-a-time disabled.

The patch has only been compile tested.

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history,
even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git
archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about
3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early
git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good
infrastructure for it.

Let it rip!
