833a426cc4 ACPI: OSL: only free map once in osl.c
acpi_os_map_cleanup checks map->refcount outside of acpi_ioremap_lock
before freeing the map. This creates a race condition the can result
in the map being freed more than once.
A panic can be caused by running

for ((i=0; i<10; i++))
do
        for ((j=0; j<100000; j++))
        do
                cat /sys/firmware/acpi/tables/data/BERT >/dev/null
        done &
done

This patch makes sure that only the process that drops the reference
to 0 does the freeing.

aefcf2f4b5 Merge branch 'next-lockdown' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jmorris/linux-security
Pull kernel lockdown mode from James Morris:
 "This is the latest iteration of the kernel lockdown patchset, from
  Matthew Garrett, David Howells and others.

  From the original description:

    This patchset introduces an optional kernel lockdown feature,
    intended to strengthen the boundary between UID 0 and the kernel.
    When enabled, various pieces of kernel functionality are restricted.
    Applications that rely on low-level access to either hardware or the
    kernel may cease working as a result - therefore this should not be
    enabled without appropriate evaluation beforehand.

    The majority of mainstream distributions have been carrying variants
    of this patchset for many years now, so there's value in providing a
    doesn't meet every distribution requirement, but gets us much closer
    to not requiring external patches.

  There are two major changes since this was last proposed for mainline:

   - Separating lockdown from EFI secure boot. Background discussion is
     covered here: https://lwn.net/Articles/751061/

   - Implementation as an LSM, with a default stackable lockdown LSM
      module. This allows the lockdown feature to be policy-driven,
      rather than encoding an implicit policy within the mechanism.

  The new locked_down LSM hook is provided to allow LSMs to make a
  policy decision around whether kernel functionality that would allow
  tampering with or examining the runtime state of the kernel should be
  permitted.

  The included lockdown LSM provides an implementation with a simple
  policy intended for general purpose use. This policy provides a coarse
  level of granularity, controllable via the kernel command line:

    lockdown={integrity|confidentiality}

  Enable the kernel lockdown feature. If set to integrity, kernel features
  that allow userland to modify the running kernel are disabled. If set to
  confidentiality, kernel features that allow userland to extract
  confidential information from the kernel are also disabled.

  This may also be controlled via /sys/kernel/security/lockdown and
  overriden by kernel configuration.

  New or existing LSMs may implement finer-grained controls of the
  lockdown features. Refer to the lockdown_reason documentation in
  include/linux/security.h for details.

  The lockdown feature has had signficant design feedback and review
  across many subsystems. This code has been in linux-next for some
  weeks, with a few fixes applied along the way.

  Stephen Rothwell noted that commit 9d1f8be5cf ("bpf: Restrict bpf
  when kernel lockdown is in confidentiality mode") is missing a

41fa1ee9c6 acpi: Ignore acpi_rsdp kernel param when the kernel has been locked down
This option allows userspace to pass the RSDP address to the kernel, which
makes it possible for a user to modify the workings of hardware. Reject
the option when the kernel is locked down. This requires some reworking
of the existing RSDP command line logic, since the early boot code also
makes use of a command-line passed RSDP when locating the SRAT table
before the lockdown code has been initialised. This is achieved by
separating the command line RSDP path in the early boot code from the
generic RSDP path, and then copying the command line RSDP into boot
params in the kernel proper if lockdown is not enabled. If lockdown is
enabled and an RSDP is provided on the command line, this will only be
used when parsing SRAT (which shouldn't permit kernel code execution)
and will be ignored in the rest of the kernel.

(Modified by Matthew Garrett in order to handle the early boot RSDP
environment)

757c968c44 ACPI / SBS: Fix rare oops when removing modules
There was a small race when removing the sbshc module where
smbus_alarm() had queued acpi_smbus_callback() for deferred execution
but it hadn't been run yet, so that when it did run hc had been freed

A similar race existed when removing the sbs module with regards to

We therefore need to ensure no callbacks are pending or executing before
the cleanups are done and the modules are removed.

d2d2e3c46b acpi: Add helper for deactivating memory region
Sometimes memory resource may be overlapping with
SystemMemory Operation Region by design, for example if the
memory region is used as a mailbox for communication with a
firmware in the system. One occasion of such mailboxes is
USB Type-C Connector System Software Interface (UCSI).

With regions like that, it is important that the driver is
able to map the memory with the requirements it has. For
example, the driver should be allowed to map the memory as
non-cached memory. However, if the operation region has been
accessed before the driver has mapped the memory, the memory
has been marked as write-back by the time the driver is
loaded. That means the driver will fail to map the memory
if it expects non-cached memory.

To work around the problem, introducing helper that the
drivers can use to temporarily deactivate (unmap)
SystemMemory Operation Regions that overlap with their
IO memory.

eeb2d80d50 ACPI / LPIT: Add Low Power Idle Table (LPIT) support
Add functionality to read LPIT table, which provides:

 - Sysfs interface to read residency counters via
   /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpuidle/low_power_idle_cpu_residency_us
   /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpuidle/low_power_idle_system_residency_us

Here the count "low_power_idle_cpu_residency_us" shows the time spent
by CPU package in low power state. This is read via MSR interface,
which points to MSR for PKG C10.

Here the count "low_power_idle_system_residency_us" show the count the
system was in low power state. This is read via MMIO interface. This
is mapped to SLP_S0 residency on modern Intel systems. This residency
is achieved only when CPU is in PKG C10 and all functional blocks are
in low power state.

It is possible that none of the above counters present or anyone of the
counter present or all counters present.

For example: On my Kabylake system both of the above counters present.
After suspend to idle these counts updated and prints:

 6916179
 6998564

This counter can be read by tools like turbostat to display. Or it can
be used to debug, if modern systems are reaching desired low power state.

 - Provides an interface to read residency counter memory address

   This address can be used to get the base address of PMC memory
   mapped IO. This is utilized by intel_pmc_core driver to print
   more debug information.

In addition, to avoid code duplication to read iomem, removed the read of
iomem from acpi_os_read_memory() in osl.c and made a common function
acpi_os_read_iomem(). This new function is used for reading iomem in
in both osl.c and acpi_lpit.c.

174cc7187e ACPICA: Tables: Back port acpi_get_table_with_size() and early_acpi_os_unmap_memory() from Linux kernel
ACPICA commit cac6790954d4d752a083e6122220b8a22febcd07

This patch back ports Linux acpi_get_table_with_size() and
early_acpi_os_unmap_memory() into ACPICA upstream to reduce divergences.

The 2 APIs are used by Linux as table management APIs for long time, it
contains a hidden logic that during the early stage, the mapped tables
should be unmapped before the early stage ends.

During the early stage, tables are handled by the following sequence:
 acpi_get_table_with_size();
 parse the table
 early_acpi_os_unmap_memory();
During the late stage, tables are handled by the following sequence:
 acpi_get_table();
 parse the table
Linux uses acpi_gbl_permanent_mmap to distinguish the early stage and the
late stage.

The reasoning of introducing acpi_get_table_with_size() is: ACPICA will
remember the early mapped pointer in acpi_get_table() and Linux isn't able to
prevent ACPICA from using the wrong early mapped pointer during the late
stage as there is no API provided from ACPICA to be an inverse of
acpi_get_table() to forget the early mapped pointer.

But how ACPICA can work with the early/late stage requirement? Inside of
ACPICA, tables are ensured to be remained in "INSTALLED" state during the
early stage, and they are carefully not transitioned to "VALIDATED" state
until the late stage. So the same logic is in fact implemented inside of
ACPICA in a different way. The gap is only that the feature is not provided
to the OSPMs in an accessible external API style.

It then is possible to fix the gap by providing an inverse of
acpi_get_table() from ACPICA, so that the two Linux sequences can be
combined:
 acpi_get_table();
 parse the table
 acpi_put_table();
In order to work easier with the current Linux code, acpi_get_table() and
acpi_put_table() is implemented in a usage counting based style:
 1. When the usage count of the table is increased from 0 to 1, table is
    mapped and .Pointer is set with the mapping address (VALIDATED);
 2. When the usage count of the table is decreased from 1 to 0, .Pointer
    is unset and the mapping address is unmapped (INVALIDATED).
So that we can deploy the new APIs to Linux with minimal effort by just
invoking acpi_get_table() in acpi_get_table_with_size() and invoking
acpi_put_table() in early_acpi_os_unmap_memory(). Lv Zheng.

bd721ea73e treewide: replace obsolete _refok by __ref
There was only one use of __initdata_refok and __exit_refok

__init_refok was used 46 times against 82 for __ref.

Those definitions are obsolete since commit 312b1485fb ("Introduce new
section reference annotations tags: __ref, __refdata, __refconst")

This patch removes the following compatibility definitions and replaces
them treewide.

/* compatibility defines */
#define __init_refok     __ref
#define __initdata_refok __refdata
#define __exit_refok     __ref

I can also provide separate patches if necessary.
(One patch per tree and check in 1 month or 2 to remove old definitions)

e5f660ebef ACPI / osi: Collect _OSI handling into one single file
_OSI handling code grows giant and it's time to move them into one file.

This patch collects all _OSI handling code into one single file.
So that we only have the following functions to be used externally:

 early_acpi_osi_init(): Used by DMI detections;
 acpi_osi_init(): Used to initialize OSI command line settings and install
                  Linux specific _OSI handler;
 acpi_osi_setup(): The API that should be used by the external quirks.
 acpi_osi_is_win8(): The API is used by the external drivers to determine
                     if BIOS supports Win8.

CONFIG_DMI is not useful as stub dmi_check_system() can make everything
stub because of strip.

d5a91d74c6 ACPI / osi: Cleanup coding style issues before creating a separate OSI source file
This patch performs necessary cleanups before moving OSI support to
another file.

 1. Change printk into pr_xxx
 2. Do not initialize values to 0
 3. Do not append additional "return" at the end of the function
 4. Remove useless comments which may easily break line breaking rule

After fixing the coding style issues, rename functions to make them looking
like acpi_osi_xxx.

e10cfdc33a ACPI / osi: Fix default _OSI(Darwin) support
The following commit always reports positive value when Apple hardware
queries _OSI("Darwin"):

 Commit: 7bc5a2bad0
 Subject: ACPI: Support _OSI("Darwin") correctly

However since this implementation places the judgement in runtime, it
breaks acpi_osi=!Darwin and cannot return unsupported for _OSI("WinXXX")
invoked before invoking _OSI("Darwin").

This patch fixes the issues by reverting the wrong support and implementing
the default behavior of _OSI("Darwin")/_OSI("WinXXX") on Apple hardware via
DMI matching.

30c9bb0d76 ACPI / osi: Fix an issue that acpi_osi=!* cannot disable ACPICA internal strings
The order of the _OSI related functionalities is as follows:

  acpi_blacklisted()
    acpi_dmi_osi_linux()
      acpi_osi_setup()
    acpi_osi_setup()
      acpi_update_interfaces() if "!*"
      <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
  parse_args()
    __setup("acpi_osi=")
      acpi_osi_setup_linux()
        acpi_update_interfaces() if "!*"
        <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
  acpi_early_init()
    acpi_initialize_subsystem()
      acpi_ut_initialize_interfaces()
      ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  acpi_bus_init()
    acpi_os_initialize1()
      acpi_install_interface_handler(acpi_osi_handler)
      acpi_osi_setup_late()
        acpi_update_interfaces() for "!"
        >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
  acpi_osi_handler()

Since acpi_osi_setup_linux() can override acpi_dmi_osi_linux(), the command
line setting can override the DMI detection. That's why acpi_blacklisted()
is put before __setup("acpi_osi=").

Then we can notice the following wrong invocation order. There are
acpi_update_interfaces() (marked by <<<<) calls invoked before
acpi_ut_initialize_interfaces() (marked by ^^^^). This makes it impossible
to use acpi_osi=!* correctly from OSI DMI table or from the command line.
The use of acpi_osi=!* is meant to disable both ACPICA
(acpi_gbl_supported_interfaces) and Linux specific strings
(osi_setup_entries) while the ACPICA part should have stopped working
because of the order issue.

This patch fixes this issue by moving acpi_update_interfaces() to where
it is invoked for acpi_osi=! (marked by >>>>) as this is ensured to be
invoked after acpi_ut_initialize_interfaces() (marked by ^^^^). Linux
specific strings are still handled in the original place in order to make
the following command line working: acpi_osi=!* acpi_osi="Module Device".

Note that since acpi_osi=!* is meant to further disable linux specific
string comparing to the acpi_osi=!, there is no such use case in our bug
fixing work and hence there is no one using acpi_osi=!* either from the
command line or from the DMI quirks, this issue is just a theoretical
issue.

4d946f7970 ACPI: Enable build of AML interpreter debugger
This patch enables ACPICA debugger files using a configurable
CONFIG_ACPI_DEBUGGER configuration item. Those debugger related code that
was originally masked as ACPI_FUTURE_USAGE now gets unmasked.

Necessary OSL stubs are also added in this patch:
1. acpi_os_readable(): This should be arch specific in Linux, while this
    patch doesn't introduce real implementation and a complex mechanism to
    allow architecture specific acpi_os_readable() to be implemented to
    validate the address. It may be done by future commits.
2. acpi_os_get_line(): This is used to obtain debugger command input. This
    patch only introduces a simple KDB concept example in it and the
    example should be co-working with the code implemented in
    acpi_os_printf(). Since this KDB example won't be compiled unless
    ENABLE_DEBUGGER is defined and it seems Linux has already stopped to
    use ENABLE_DEBUGGER, thus do not expect it can work properly.

This patch also cleans up all other ACPI_FUTURE_USAGE surroundings
accordingly.
1. Since linkage error can be automatically detected, declaration in the
   headers needn't be surrounded by ACPI_FUTURE_USAGE.
   So only the following separate exported fuction bodies are masked by
   this macro (other exported fucntions may have already been masked at
   entire module level via drivers/acpi/acpica/Makefile):
     acpi_install_exception_handler()
     acpi_subsystem_status()
     acpi_get_system_info()
     acpi_get_statistics()
     acpi_install_initialization_handler()
2. Since strip can automatically zap the no-user functions, functions that
   are not marked with ACPI_EXPORT_SYMBOL() needn't get surrounded by
   ACPI_FUTURE_USAGE.
   So the following function which is not used by Linux kernel now won't
   get surrounded by this macro:
     acpi_ps_get_name()

This patch updates the method tracing facility as the acpi_debug_trace()
API has been updated to allow it to trace AML interpreter execution, the
meanings and the usages of the API parameters are changed due to the
updates.

The new API:
1. Uses ACPI_TRACE_ENABLED flag to indicate the enabling of the tracer;
2. Allows tracer still can be enabled when method name is not specified so
   that the AML interpreter execution can be traced without knowing the
   method name, which is useful for kernel boot tracing;
3. Supports arbitrary full path name, it doesn't need to be a name related
   to an entrance of acpi_evaluate_object().

Note that the sysfs parameters are also updated so that when reading the
attribute files, ACPICA internal settings are returned.

In order to make the sysfs parameters (acpi.trace_state) available during
boot, this patch adds code to bypass ACPICA semaphore/mutex invocations
when acpi mutex utilities haven't been initialized.

This patch doesn't update documentation of method tracing facility, it will
be updated by further patches.
