The ixgbe driver allocates pages for its receive rings. It currently
uses 512 pages, regardless of page size. During receive handling it
adds the unused part of the page back into the rx ring, avoiding the
need for a new allocation.
On a ppc64 box with 64 threads and 64kB pages, we end up with
512 entries * 64 rx queues * 64kB = 2GB memory used. Even more of a
concern is that we use up 2GB of IOMMU space in order to map all this
memory.
The driver makes a number of decisions based on if PAGE_SIZE is less
than 8kB, so use this as the breakpoint and only allocate 128 entries
on 8kB or larger page sizes.

When using firmware assisted TSO, we use a single DMA mapping for
the linear area of a TSO skb.
We still have to segment the super-packet and insert a descriptor
containing the original headers before each segment of payload, so we
can unmap the linear area only after the last segment is completed.
The unmapping information for the linear area is therefore associated
with the last header descriptor.
We calculate the DMA address to unmap from using the map length and
the invariant that the end of the DMA mapping matches the end of
the data referenced by the last descriptor. But this invariant is
broken when there is TCP payload in the linear area.
Fix this by adding and using an explicit dma_offset field.

This change complements commits d0da7c002f7b2a93582187a9e3f73891a01d8ee4
[MIPS: DEC: Convert to new irq_chip functions] and
5359b938c0 [MIPS: DECstation I/O ASIC DMA
interrupt handling fix] and implements automatic handling of the two
classes of DMA interrupts the I/O ASIC implements, informational and
errors.
Informational DMA interrupts do not stop the transfer and use the
`handle_edge_irq' handler that clears the request right away so that
another request may be recorded while the previous is being handled.
DMA error interrupts stop the transfer and require a corrective action
before DMA can be reenabled. Therefore they use the `handle_fasteoi_irq'
handler that only clears the request on the way out. Because MIPS
processor interrupt inputs, one of which the I/O ASIC's interrupt
controller is cascaded to, are level-triggered it is recommended that
error DMA interrupt action handlers are registered with the IRQF_ONESHOT
flag set so that they are run with the interrupt line masked.
This change removes the export of clear_ioasic_dma_irq that now does not
have to be called by device drivers to clear interrupts explicitly
anymore. Originally these interrupts were cleared in the .end handler of
the `irq_chip' structure, before it was removed.

ixgbe_napi_disable_all calls napi_disable on each queue, however the busy
polling code introduced a local_bh_disable()d context around the napi_disable.
The original author did not realize that napi_disable might sleep, which would
cause a sleep while atomic BUG. In addition, on a single processor system, the
ixgbe_qv_lock_napi loop shouldn't have to mdelay. This patch adds an
ixgbe_qv_disable along with a new IXGBE_QV_STATE_DISABLED bit, which it uses to
indicate to the poll and napi routines that the q_vector has been disabled. Now

When the bnx2x driver is rmmoded, if VFs of a given PF will be assigned
to a VM then that PF will be unable to call `pci_disable_sriov()'.
If for that same PF there would also exist unassigned VFs in the hypervisor,
the result will be that after the removal there will still be virtual PCI
functions on the hypervisor.
If the bnx2x module were to be re-inserted, the result will be that the VFs
on the hypervisor will be re-probed directly following the PF's probe, even
though that in regular loading flow sriov is only enabled once PF is loaded.
The probed VF will then try to access its bar, causing a PCI error as the HW
is not in a state enabling such a request.
This patch adds a missing disablement procedure to the PF's removal, one that
sets registers viewable to the VF to indicate that the VFs have no permission
to access the bar, thus resulting in probe errors instead of PCI errors.

Buffers for FW statistics were allocated at an inappropriate time; In a machine
where the driver encounters problems allocating all of its queues, the driver
would still create FW requests for the statistics of the non-existing queues.
The wrong order of memory allocation could lead to zeroed statistics messages

2. A follow up issue, pci_enable_sriov() should only be called if no VFs were
still allocated on module unload. Otherwise pci_enable_sriov() gets called
multiple times in a row rendering the NIC unusable until reset.
3. simply calling igb_enable_sriov() in igb_probe_vfs() is not enough as the
interrupts need to be re-setup. Switching that to igb_pci_enable_sriov().

If new_mtu is very large then "new_mtu + ETH_HLEN + ETH_FCS_LEN" can
wrap and the check on the next line can underflow. This is one of those
bugs which can be triggered by the user if you have namespaces
configured.
Also since this is something the user can trigger then we don't want to

Intel Wired LAN Driver Updates
This series contains updates to i40e only.
Jesse provides 6 patches against i40e. First is a patch to reduce
CPU utilization by reducing read-flush to read in the hot path. Next
couple of patches resolve coverity issues reported by Hannes Frederic
Sowa <hannes@stressinduktion.org>. Then Jesse refactored i40e to cleanup
functions which used cpu_to_xxx(foo) which caused a lot of line wrapping.
Mitch provides 2 i40e patches. First fixes a panic when tx_rings[0]
are not allocated, his second patch corrects a math error when
assigning MSI-X vectors to VFs. The vectors-per-vf value reported
by the hardware already conveniently reports one less than the actual
value.
Shannon provides 5 patches against i40e. His first patch corrects a
number of little bugs in the error handling of irq setup, most of
which ended up panicing the kernel. Next he fixes the overactive
IRQ issue seen in testing and allows the use of the legacy interrupt.
Shannon then provides a cleanup of the arguments declared at the
beginning of each function. Then he provides a patch to make sure
that there are really rings and queues before trying to dump
information in them. Lastly he simplifies the code by using an
already existing variable.
Catherine provides an i40e patch to bump the version.

Sergei Shtylyov <sergei.shtylyov@cogentembedded.com>

When IFF_ALLMULTI flag is set on interface and IFF_PROMISC isn't,
emac_dev_mcast_set should only enable RX of multicasts and reset
MACHASH registers.
It does this, but afterwards it either sets up multicast MACs
filtering or disables RX of multicasts and resets MACHASH registers
again, rendering IFF_ALLMULTI flag useless.
This patch fixes emac_dev_mcast_set, so that multicast MACs filtering and
disabling of RX of multicasts are skipped when IFF_ALLMULTI flag is set.

As part of a register dump, the interface pretends to have the identity
of other interfaces of the same physical device in order to perform
HW configuration for them - specifically, it needs to prevent attentions
from generating on those functions as the register dump accesses registers
in common blocks which whose reading might generate an attention.
However, such pretension is unsafe - unlike other flows in which the driver
uses pretend, during register dump there is no guarantee no other HW access
will take place (by other flows). If such access will take place, the HW will
be accessed by the wrong interface, and leave both functions in an incorrect
state.
This patch removes all pretensions from the register dump flow. Instead, it
changes initial configuration of attentions such that no fatal attention will
be generated for other functions as a result of the register dump
(notice however, a debug print claiming an attention from other functions IS
possible during the register dump)

bnx2x has several clients to its DMAE machines - all of them with the exception
of the statistics flow used the same locking mechanisms to synchronize the DMAE
machines' usage.
Since statistics (which are periodically entered) use DMAE without taking the
locks, they may erase the commands which were previously set -
e.g., it may cause a VF to timeout while waiting for a PF answer on the VF-PF
channel as that command header would have been overwritten by the statistics'
header.
This patch makes certain that all flows utilizing DMAE will use the same
API, assuring that the locking scheme will be kept by all said flows.

During a panic, the driver tries to print the Management FW buffer of recent
commands. To do so, the driver reads the address of that buffer from a known
address. If the buffer is unavailable (e.g., PCI reads don't work, MCP is
failing, etc.), the driver will try to access the address it has read, possibly
causing a kernel panic.
This check 'sanitizes' the access, validating the read value is indeed a valid
address inside the management FW's buffers.
The patch also removes a read outside the scope of the buffer, which resulted
in some unrelated chraracters appearing in the log.

get proper rx queue information. This triggers reorders, as it seems
bnx2x like to generate a non LRO packet for segment including TCP PUSH

seen involve segments with a PUSH)

SMC_outw invokes an endian-aware I/O accessor, which may change the data
endianness before writing to the device. This is not suitable for data
transfers where the memory buffer is simply a string of bytes that does
not require any byte-swapping.
This patches fixes the smc91x SMC_PUSH_DATA macro so that it uses the
string I/O accessor for outputting the leading or trailing halfwords on
halfword-aligned buffers.

Nguyen Hong Ky posted a patch to correct RX packet errors on R8A7740 which
was applied as 2c6221e4a5 ("net: sh_eth: Fix RX packets errors on
R8A7740"). Unfortunately sh_eth.c contains many similar instances
of struct sh_eth_cpu_data and the patch was miss-applied, updating
sh7734_data instead of r8a7740_data.
This patch corrects this problem by.
1. Reverting the change to sh7734_data and;
2. Applying the change to r8a7740_data.

This change brings support for 64 bit netstats to the driver. Previously
the stats were 64 bit but highly racy due to the fact that 64 bit
transactions are not atomic on 32 bit systems. This change makes is so
that the 64 bit byte and packet stats are reliable on all architectures.

Allocate the queue pairs individually instead of as a group. This
allows for much easier queue management as it is possible to dynamically
resize the queues without having to free and allocate the entire block.
Ease statistic collection by treating Tx/Rx queue pairs as a single
unit. Each pair is allocated together and starts with a Tx queue and
ends with an Rx queue. By ordering them this way it is possible to know
the Rx offset based on a pointer to the Tx queue.

This makes it so that the Tx and Rx byte and packet counts are
separated from the rest of the statistics. This allows for better
isolation of these stats when we move them into the 64 bit statistics.
Simplify things by re-ordering how the stats display in ethtool.
Instead of displaying all of the Tx queues as a block, followed by all
the Rx queues, the new order is Tx[0], Rx[0], Tx[1], Rx[1], ..., Tx[n],
Rx[n]. This reduces the loops and cleans up the display for testing
purposes since it is very easy to verify if flow director is doing the
right thing as the Tx and Rx queue pair are shown in pairs.

Drop Tx flag and TXSW which is tested but never set.
As a result of this change we can drop a complicated check that always
resulted in the final result of i40e_tx_csum being equal to the
CHECKSUM_PARTIAL value. As such we can replace the entire function call
with just a check for skb->summed == CHECKSUM_PARTIAL.

Avoid directly incrementing next_to_use for multiple reasons. The main
reason being that if we directly increment it then it can attain a state
where it is equal to the ring count. Technically this is a state it
should not be able to reach but the way this is written it now can.
This patch pulls the value off into a register and then increments it
and writes back either the value or 0 depending on if the value is equal
to the ring count.

The Tx "completed" stat was part of the original rewrite for detecting
Tx hangs. However some time ago in ixgbe I determined that we could
just use the packets stat instead. Since then this stat was
removed from ixgbe and it serves no purpose in i40e so it can be
dropped.
