7bcfdf0f70 [media] tvaudio: rename getmode and setmode
This is basically s/getmode/getrxsubchans/ and s/setmode/setaudmode/
with some whitespace adjustment in affected lines to please the eye.
The rename is done to point out their relation to the rxsubchans and
audmode fields of struct v4l2_tuner.

I also corrected a commented out call to v4l_dbg in one of the lines.

1884e298c1 [media] tvaudio: don't report mono when stereo is received
The V4L2 spec says reporting mono and stereo at the same time means
the hardware can not distinguish between the two. So when we can,
we should report only one of them.

9e019e075e [media] tvaudio: support V4L2_TUNER_MODE_LANG1_LANG2
Many of the audio decoders handled by the driver support this mode,
so the driver should support it as well.

Coding style errors are done to blend into the surrounding code.

e21adca897 [media] tvaudio: obey V4L2 tuner audio matrix
V4L2 specifies the audio mode to use for combinations of possible
(rxsubchans) and requested (audmode) audio modes. Up to now tvaudio
has made these decisions automatically based on the possible audio
modes from setting of the frequency until VIDIOC_S_TUNER was called.
It then forced the hardware to use the mode requested by the user.
With this patch it continues to adjust the audio mode while taking
the requested mode into account.

92d474bd29 V4L/DVB: tvaudio: remove obsolete tda8425 initialization
The tda8425 initialization function sets up the inputmap for riva boards.
After some digging I discovered that this was for the V4L rivatv driver
that is found on sourceforge. This driver hasn't been maintained since the
last 5 years and will no longer work with the current v4l framework.

So we can safely remove this.

acebc70d4a V4L/DVB (11372): v4l2: use old-style i2c API for kernels < 2.6.26 instead of < 2.6.22
Originally the intention was to switch to the new style i2c API starting with
the introduction of the API in 2.6.22. However, the i2c_new_probed_device()
function has a lethal bug that wasn't fixed until 2.6.25. Or more accurately,
it was only fixed in the stable series of 2.6.25 and 2.6.26.

Given the fact that the new i2c API also changed starting with 2.6.26 (the
addition of i2c_device_id), it is easiest to switch APIs starting with
2.6.26.

This patch updates all the legacy code accordingly.

This change allows bttv to use tvaudio for this device. Since this device
has the same i2c address as the tda9874 we need to support both in the same

used. Originally the tda9875 was only available in the dedicated tda9875
driver, but that makes life very hard for bttv since loading tvaudio might
misdetect a tda9875 as a tda9874.

01a1a3cc1e V4L/DVB (9624): CVE-2008-5033: fix OOPS on tvaudio when controlling bass/treble
This bug were supposed to be fixed by 5ba2f67afb,
where a call to NULL happens.

Not all tvaudio chips allow controlling bass/treble. So, the driver
has a table with a flag to indicate if the chip does support it.

Unfortunately, the handling of this logic were broken for a very long
time (probably since the first module version). Due to that, an OOPS
were generated for devices that don't support bass/treble.

This were the resulting OOPS message before the patch, with debug messages
enabled:

dd03e970a1 V4L/DVB (9617): tvtime: remove generic_checkmode callback
generic_checkmode() were called, via a callback, for some tvaudio chips.
There's just one callback code used on all those boards. So, it makes no
sense on keeping this as a callback.

Since there were some OOPS reported on tvaudio on kerneloops.org, this
patch removes this callback, adding the code at the only place were it
is called: inside chip_tread. A flag were added to indicate the need for
a kernel thread to set stereo mode on cards that needs it.

Using this more direct approach simplifies the code, making it more
robust against human errors.

5ba2f67afb security: avoid calling a NULL function pointer in drivers/video/tvaudio.c
NULL function pointers are very bad security wise. This one got caught by
kerneloops.org quite a few times, so it's happening in the field....

Fix is simple, check the function pointer for NULL, like 6 other places
in the same function are already doing.

5a367dfb73 V4L/DVB (8246): tvaudio: Stop I2C driver ID abuse
The tvaudio driver is using "official" I2C device IDs for internal
purpose. There must be some historical reason behind this but anyway,
it shouldn't do that. As the stored values are never used, the easiest
way to fix the problem is simply to remove them altogether.

ae429083ef i2c: Convert some more new-style drivers to use module aliasing
Update 3 more new-style i2c drivers to use standard module aliasing
instead of the old driver_name/type driver matching scheme. These
video drivers aren't used yet so converting them is trivial.

d2653e9273 i2c: Add support for device alias names
Based on earlier work by Jon Smirl and Jochen Friedrich.

This patch allows new-style i2c chip drivers to have alias names using
the official kernel aliasing system and MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE(). At this
point, the old i2c driver binding scheme (driver_name/type) is still
supported.

8314418629 Freezer: make kernel threads nonfreezable by default
Currently, the freezer treats all tasks as freezable, except for the kernel
threads that explicitly set the PF_NOFREEZE flag for themselves. This
approach is problematic, since it requires every kernel thread to either
set PF_NOFREEZE explicitly, or call try_to_freeze(), even if it doesn't
care for the freezing of tasks at all.

It seems better to only require the kernel threads that want to or need to
be frozen to use some freezer-related code and to remove any
freezer-related code from the other (nonfreezable) kernel threads, which is
done in this patch.

The patch causes all kernel threads to be nonfreezable by default (ie. to
have PF_NOFREEZE set by default) and introduces the set_freezable()
function that should be called by the freezable kernel threads in order to
unset PF_NOFREEZE. It also makes all of the currently freezable kernel
threads call set_freezable(), so it shouldn't cause any (intentional)
change of behaviour to appear. Additionally, it updates documentation to
describe the freezing of tasks more accurately.
