8c3b55a299 Input: atmel_mxt_ts - fix lost interrupts
After commit 74d905d2d3 devices requiring the workaround for edge
triggered interrupts stopped working.

The hardware needs the quirk to be used before even proceeding to
check if the quirk is needed because mxt_acquire_irq() is called
before mxt_check_retrigen() is called and at this point pending IRQs
need to be checked, and if the workaround is not active, all
interrupts will be lost from this point.

Solve this by switching the calls around.

c6c7465089 Input: atmel_mxt_ts - support regulator supplies
This adds the code for the Atmel touchscreens such as mXT224 to obtain
power regulators for the supply voltages AVDD and VDD. On mobile phones
such as Samsung GT-I8190 (Golden) this is needed to explicitly bring power
online.

We just enable the regulators at probe() and disable them at remove()
or in the error path for now.

As regulators are naturally stubbed if not available, this should have no
impact on existing systems.

feedaacdad Input: atmel_mxt_ts - fix up inverted RESET handler
This driver uses GPIO descriptors to drive the touchscreen RESET line. In
the existing device trees this has in conflict with intution been flagged
as GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH and the driver then applies the reverse action by
driving the line low (setting to 0) to enter reset state and driving the
line high (setting to 1) to get out of reset state.

The correct way to handle active low GPIO lines is to provide the
GPIO_ACTIVE_LOW in the device tree (thus properly describing the hardware)
and letting the GPIO framework invert the assertion (driving high) to a
low level and vice versa.

This is considered a bug since the device trees are incorrectly
mis-specifying the line as active high.

Fix the driver and all device trees specifying a reset line.

74d905d2d3 Input: atmel_mxt_ts - only read messages in mxt_acquire_irq() when necessary
The workaround of reading all messages until an invalid is received is a
way of forcing the CHG line high, which means that when using
edge-triggered interrupts the interrupt can be acquired.

With level-triggered interrupts the workaround is unnecessary.

Also, most recent maXTouch chips have a feature called RETRIGEN which, when
enabled, reasserts the interrupt line every cycle if there are messages
waiting. This also makes the workaround unnecessary.

Note: the RETRIGEN feature is only in some firmware versions/chips, it's
not valid simply to enable the bit.

463fa44eec Input: atmel_mxt_ts - disable IRQ across suspend
Across suspend and resume, we are seeing error messages like the following:

atmel_mxt_ts i2c-PRP0001:00: __mxt_read_reg: i2c transfer failed (-121)
atmel_mxt_ts i2c-PRP0001:00: Failed to read T44 and T5 (-121)

This occurs because the driver leaves its IRQ enabled. Upon resume, there
is an IRQ pending, but the interrupt is serviced before both the driver and
the underlying I2C bus have been resumed. This causes EREMOTEIO errors.

Disable the IRQ in suspend, and re-enable it on resume. If there are cases
where the driver enters suspend with interrupts disabled, that's a bug we
should fix separately.

The driver only registers one input device, which uses the screen

those parameters.

It is incorrect to send input reports from the second instances of these

positions will be mashed together.

This also causes problems on Android if the number of slots exceeds 32.

In the future, this could be handled by looking for enabled touch object

ca1cd36cef Input: atmel_mxt_ts - fix reset-gpio for level based irqs
The current reset-gpio support triggers an interrupt storm on platforms
using the maxtouch with level based interrupt. The Motorola Droid 4,
which I used for some of the tests is not affected, since it uses a edge
based interrupt.

This change avoids the interrupt storm by enabling the device while its
interrupt is disabled. Afterwards we wait 100ms. This is important for
two reasons: The device is unresponsive for some time (~22ms for
mxt224E) and the CHG (interrupt) line is not working properly for 100ms.
We don't need to wait for any following interrupts, since the following
mxt_initialize() checks for bootloader mode anyways.

This fixes a boot issue on GE PPD (watchdog kills device due to
interrupt storm) and does not cause regression on Motorola Droid 4.

Commit af503716ac ("i2c: core: report OF style module alias for devices

devices are registered via OF.

But the atmel_mxt_ts driver only has an "atmel, maxtouch" compatible in its
OF device ID table, so if a Device Tree is using a different one, autoload
won't be working for the module (the matching works because the I2C device
ID table is used as a fallback).

So add compatible strings for each of the entries in the I2C device table.

The automatic update mechanism will trigger an update if the
info block CRCs are different between maxtouch configuration
file (maxtouch.cfg) and chip.

The driver compared the CRCs without retrieving the chip CRC,
resulting always in a failure and firmware flashing action
triggered. Fix this issue by retrieving the chip info block
CRC before the check.

Note that this solution has the benefit that by reading the
information block and the object table into a contiguous region
of memory, we can verify the checksum at probe time. This means
we make sure that we are indeed talking to a chip that supports
object protocol correctly.

Using this patch on a kevin chromebook, the touchscreen and

96a938aa21 Input: atmel_mxt_ts - remove platform data support
Now that there are no users of custom Atmel platform data, and everyone
has switched to the generic device properties, we can remove support for
the platform data.

d3f810ce08 Input: atmel_mxt_ts - switch ChromeOS ACPI devices to generic props
Move older ChromeOS devices describing Atmel controllers in ACPI, but not
providing enough details to configure the controllers properly, from
platform data over to generic device properties. This will allow us
remove support for platform data later on, leaving only generic device
properties in place.

93afb1d6e7 Input: atmel_mxt_ts - switch from OF to generic device properties
Instead of using OF-specific APIs to fecth device properties, let's switch
to generic device properties API. This will allow us to use device
properties on legacy ChromeOS devices and get rid of platform data down
the road.

d80808e1eb Input: atmel_mxt_ts - do not pass suspend mode in platform data
The way we are supposed to put controller to sleep and wake it up does not
depend on the platform, but rather on controller itself, so we want to get
rid of suspend mode in platform data (and eventually get rid of platform
data completely). Unfortunately some early chromebooks (the original Pixel,
Acer C720) were shipped with config that requires manually re-enabling
touch reporting in T9. We will sort it out, but in the meantime let's
switch to a simple DMI quirk.

We'll keep pdata->suspend_mode for now and remove it when we rework
chromeos-laptop driver.

eb43335c40 Input: atmel_mxt_ts - use mxt_acquire_irq in mxt_soft_reset
If using IRQF_TRIGGER_FALLING, then there is a race here: if the reset
completes before we enable the IRQ, then CHG is already low and touch
will be broken.

This has been seen on Chromebook Pixel 2.

A workaround is to reconfig T18 COMMSCONFIG to enable the RETRIGEN bit
using mxt-app:
    mxt-app -W -T18 44
    mxt-app --backup
