89a8969afa [media] tda829x: fix regression in probe functions
In commit 567aba0b79, the probe address
for tda8290_probe and tda8295_probe was hard-coded to 0x4b, which is the
default i2c address for those devices, but its possible for the device
to be at an alternate address, 0x42, which is the case for the HVR-1950.
If we probe the wrong address, probe fails and we have a non-working
device. We have the actual address passed into the function by way of
i2c_props, we just need to use it. Also fix up some copy/paste comment
issues and streamline debug spew a touch. Verified to restore my
HVR-1950 to full working order.

Special thanks to Ken Bass for reporting the issue in the first place,
and to both he and Gary Buhrmaster for aiding in debugging and analysis
of the problem.

6a108a14fa kconfig: rename CONFIG_EMBEDDED to CONFIG_EXPERT
The meaning of CONFIG_EMBEDDED has long since been obsoleted; the option
is used to configure any non-standard kernel with a much larger scope than
only small devices.

This patch renames the option to CONFIG_EXPERT in init/Kconfig and fixes
references to the option throughout the kernel. A new CONFIG_EMBEDDED
option is added that automatically selects CONFIG_EXPERT when enabled and
can be used in the future to isolate options that should only be
considered for embedded systems (RISC architectures, SLOB, etc).

Calling the option "EXPERT" more accurately represents its intention: only
expert users who understand the impact of the configuration changes they
are making should enable it.

The problem is that mb86a20s is only visible if the analog part is disabled.

However, due to a trick at mb86a20s, it will later initialize properly:

mb86a20s: mb86a20s_initfe: Initialization succeded.

This is hacky and ugly. However, I coldn't find any easy way to fix it.
A proper fix would be to have a resource locking schema, used by both
V4L and DVB parts that would block access to analog registers while
digital registers are in use, but this will probably put tda829x into
a dead lock.

This happens because some I2C callbacks actually depend on having the
driver entirely initialized. To avoid this OOPS, just clean the I2C
callbacks, as if no device were detected.

7655e59494 [media] af9015: Fix max I2C message size when used with tda18271
Changeset 1724c8fa7e added an option to change
the maximum I2C size to 8 bytes. However, it forgot to replace the previous
usage at af9015 to use the newly defined macro value
(TDA18271_16_BYTE_CHUNK_INIT).

A latter changeset (e350d44fed) extended the
possible values for .small_i2c field and, instead of using a random sequence
of numbers, it used a number that makes more sense (e. g. the actual limit,
in terms of bytes).

However, as af9015 were using .small_i2c = 1, this become undefined, and the

e350d44fed [media] tda18271: allow restricting max out to 4 bytes
By default, tda18271 tries to optimize I2C bus by updating all registers
at the same time. Unfortunately, some devices doesn't support it.

The current logic has a problem when small_i2c is equal to 8, since there
are some transfers using 11 + 1 bytes.

Fix the problem by enforcing the max size at the right place, and allows
reducing it to max = 3 + 1.

03b1930efd V4L/DVB: saa7146: fix regression of the av7110/budget-av driver
An earlier regression fix for the mxb driver (V4L/DVB: saa7146_vv: fix

regression in the av7110 driver.

Reverted the old fix and fixed the problem in the mxb driver instead.
Tested on mxb and budget-av cards.

The real problem is that the saa7146 framework has separate probe()
and attach() driver callbacks which should be rolled into one. This
is now done for the mxb driver, but others should do the same. Lack
of hardware makes this hard to do, though. I hope to get hold of some

5a0e3ad6af include cleanup: Update gfp.h and slab.h includes to prepare for breaking implicit slab.h inclusion from percpu.h
percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being
included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which
in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files
universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies.

percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for
this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those
headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion
needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is
used as the basis of conversion.

  http://userweb.kernel.org/~tj/misc/slabh-sweep.py

The script does the followings.

* Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that
  only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used,
  gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h.

* When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include
  blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms
  to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains
  core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered -
  alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there
  doesn't seem to be any matching order.

* If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly
  because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out
  an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the
  file.

The conversion was done in the following steps.

1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly
   over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h
   and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400
   files.

2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion,
   some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or
   embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added
   inclusions to around 150 files.

3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits
   from #2 to make sure no file was left behind.

4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed.
   e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab
   APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually.

5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically
   editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h
   files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h
   inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually
   wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each
   slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as
   necessary.

6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h.

7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures
   were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my
   distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few
   more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things
   build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq).

   * x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config.
   * powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig
   * sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig
   * ia64 SMP allmodconfig
   * s390 SMP allmodconfig
   * alpha SMP allmodconfig
   * um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig

8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as
   a separate patch and serve as bisection point.

Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step
6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch.
If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch
headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of
the specific arch.

7fee03e487 V4L/DVB (13540): ir-common: Cleanup get key evdev code
The same loop to seek for a key were used on different places. Also,
no spinlock were protecting it to avoid the risk of replacing a keycode
while seeking for a new code.

This cleanup does:
	- create an unique function to seek for a code;
	- adds an spinlock to protect the table lookup;
	- remove some unused code;
	- simplifies to code to make it easier to understand.

Basically no change in behavior should be noticed after this patch.

Currently, the IR table is initialized by calling ir_input_init(). However,
this function doesn't return any error code, nor has a function to be called
when de-initializing the IR's.

Change the return argment to integer and make sure that each driver will
handle the error code. Also adds a function to free any resources that may
be allocating there: ir_input_free().

ef53a1159d V4L/DVB (13532): ir-common: Add infrastructure to use a dynamic keycode table
V4L drivers use an static keycode vector with 128 entries, where the scancode
indexes the keycode. While this works, it limits the scancodes to have only
7 bits, not allowing for example full RC5 codes.

Instead of implementing the same code on every V4L driver, provide a common
infrastructure to handle the bigger tables, minimizing the changes inside
each driver.

a57c1dcb93 V4L/DVB (13109): tda18271: fix signedness issue in tda18271_rf_tracking_filters_init
While having tda18271 module set with debug=17 (cal & info prints) and
cal=0 (delay calibration process until first use) - I discovered that
during the calibration process, if the frequency test for 69750000
returned a bcal of 0 (see tda18721-fe.c in tda18271_powerscan func) that
the tuner wouldn't be able to pickup any of the frequencies in the range
(all the other frequencies bands returned bcal=1). I spent some time
going over the code and the NXP's tda18271 spec (ver.4 of it i think) and
adding a lot of debug prints and walking/stepping through the calibration
process. I found that when the powerscan fails to find a frequency, the
rf calibration is not run and the default value is supposed to be used in
its place (pulled from the RF_CAL_map table) - but something was getting
goofed up there.

Now, my c coding skills are very rusty, but i think root of the problem is
a signedness issue with the math operation for calculating the rf_a1 and
rf_a2 values in tda18271_rf_tracking_filters_init func, which results in
values like 20648 for rf_a1 (when it should probably have a value like 0,
or so slightly negative that it should be zero - this bad value for rf_a1
would in turn makes the approx calc within
tda18271c2_rf_tracking_filters_correction go out of whack). The simplest
solution i found was to explicitly convert the signedness of the
denominator to avoid the implicit conversion. The values placed into the
u32 rf_freq array should never exceed about 900mhz, so i think the s32 max
value shouldn't be an issue in this case.

I've tested it out a little, and even when i get a bcal=0 with the
modified code, the default calibration value gets used, rf_a1 is zero, and
the tuner seems to lock on the stream and mythtv seems to play it fine.

715a223323 V4L/DVB (12595): common/ir: use a struct for keycode tables
Currently, V4L uses a scancode table whose index is the scancode and
the value is the keycode. While this works, it has some drawbacks:

1) It requires that the scancode to be at the range 00-7f;

2) keycodes should be masked on 7 bits in order for it to work;

3) due to the 7 bits approach, sometimes it is not possible to replace
the default keyboard to another one with a different encoding rule;

4) it is different than what is done with dvb-usb approach;

5) it requires a typedef for it to work. This is not a recommended
Linux CodingStyle.

This patch is part of a larger series of IR changes. It basically
replaces the IR_KEYTAB_TYPE tables by a structured table:
struct ir_scancode {
       u16     scancode;
       u32     keycode;
};

This is very close to what dvb does. So, a further integration with DVB
code will be easy.

While we've changed the tables, for now, the IR keycode handling is still
based on the old approach.

The only notable effect is the redution of about 35% of the ir-common
module size:

   text data bss dec hex filename
   6721   29208       4   35933    8c5d old/ir-common.ko
   5756   18040       4   23800    5cf8 new/ir-common.ko

In thesis, we could be using above u8 for scancode, reducing even more the size
of the module, but defining it as u16 is more convenient, since, on dvb, each
scancode has up to 16 bits, and we currently have a few troubles with rc5, as their
scancodes are defined with more than 8 bits.

This patch itself shouldn't be doing any functional changes.

4900877b7c V4L/DVB (11800): tuner-xc2028: show the proper module description for no_poweroff option
There was a typo in the module description for the "no_poweroff" option, where the
help was being associated with the "debug" option instead.

b6bd5eb871 V4L/DVB (11798): xc5000: add "no_poweroff" module option
Provide for the ability for a user to disable putting the tuner to sleep, in
case he doesn't want to incur the cost of reloading the firmware when starting
up his/her application. The module options are intentionally identical to
xc3028.

34a0db9202 V4L/DVB (11797): xc5000: cleanup firmware loading messages
Make it a little more obvious in the dmesg output what is going on during
firmware upload. This is more important for boards like the HVR-950q that
take nearly seven seconds to do the upload.

81c4dfe776 V4L/DVB (11796): xc5000: start using the newer "finerfreq" tuning command
Starting in firmware version 1.1.44, Xceive recommends using the FINERFREQ for
all normal tuning (the doc indicates reg 0x03 should only be used for fast
scanning for channel lock)

7f05b530be V4L/DVB (11793): xc5000: Properly support power down for newer firmware
Xceive got rid of the XREG_POWER_DOWN register in later firmware revisions.
Their technical support informed me that the correct way to put the tuner
to sleep is to pull the reset pin (but don't reload the firmware).

361d4892cd V4L/DVB (11792): xc5000: switch to new version of Xceive firmware
This switches to a new version of the xc5000 firmware, extracted from the
latest Hauppauge driver. It includes the support for the XREG_BUSY register
(a lack of which was causing tuning to take 3200ms instead of around 300ms).
