dd9c46408f iwl4965: workaround connection regression on passive channel
Jake reported that since commit 1672c0e319
"mac80211: start auth/assoc timeout on frame status", he is unable to
connect to his AP, which is configured to use passive channel.

After switch to passive channel 4965 firmware drops any TX packet until
it receives beacon. Before commit 1672c0e3 we waited on channel and
retransmit packet after 200ms, that makes we receive beacon on the
meantime and association process succeed. New mac80211 behaviour cause
that any ASSOC frame fail immediately on iwl4965 and we can not
associate.

This patch restore old mac80211 behaviour for iwl4965, by removing
IEEE80211_HW_REPORTS_TX_ACK_STATUS feature. This feature will be
added again to iwl4965 driver, when different, more complex
workaround for this firmware issue, will be added to the driver.

85220d71bf mac80211: support secondary channel offset in CSA
Add support for the secondary channel offset IE in channel
switch announcements. This is necessary for proper handling
of CSA on HT access points.

For this to work it is also necessary to convert everything
here to use chandef structs instead of just channels. The
driver updates aren't really correct though. In particular,
the TI wl18xx driver update can't possibly be right since
it just ignores the new channel width for lack of firmware
API.

39ecc01d1b mac80211: pass queue bitmap to flush operation
There are a number of situations in which mac80211 only

other virtual interfaces. Calculate and pass a queue

c65dd1477b mac80211: inform the driver about update of dtim_period
Currently, when the driver requires the DTIM period,
mac80211 will wait to hear a beacon before association.
This behavior is suboptimal since some drivers may be
able to deal with knowing the DTIM period after the
association, if they get it at all.

To address this, notify the drivers with bss_info_changed
with the new BSS_CHANGED_DTIM_PERIOD flag when the DTIM
becomes known. This might be when changing to associated,
or later when the entire association was done with only
probe response information.

Rename the hardware flag for the current behaviour to
IEEE80211_HW_NEED_DTIM_BEFORE_ASSOC to more accurately
reflect its behaviour. IEEE80211_HW_NEED_DTIM_PERIOD is
no longer accurate as all drivers get the DTIM period
now, just not before association.

18b559d5db mac80211: split TX aggregation stop action
When TX aggregation is stopped, there are a few
different cases:
 - connection with the peer was dropped
 - session stop was requested locally
 - session stop was requested by the peer
 - connection was dropped while a session is stopping

The behaviour in these cases should be different, if
the connection is dropped then the driver should drop
all frames, otherwise the frames may continue to be
transmitted, aggregated in the case of a locally
requested session stop or unaggregated in the case of
the peer requesting session stop.

Split these different cases so that the driver can
act accordingly; however, treat local and remote stop
the same way and ask the driver to not send frames as
aggregated packets any more.

In the case of connection drop, the stop callback the
driver is otherwise supposed to call is no longer
required.

 9) Use a per-task rather than per-socket page fragment allocator for

10) Use up to 32K for page fragment allocations, with fallbacks to

8c358bcd09 mac80211: add time synchronisation with BSS for assoc
Some drivers (iwlegacy, iwlwifi and rt2x00) today use the
bss_conf.last_tsf value. By itself though that value is
completely worthless since it may be ancient. What really
is needed is synchronisation between some device time and
the TSF.

To clarify this, rename bss_conf.last_tsf to sync_tsf and
add sync_device_ts which is obtained from rx_status which
gets a new field device_timestamp for this purpose. This
is intentionally not using the mactime field since that
is used for other things and in IBSS is expected to sync
with the IBSS's TSF which isn't necessarily true for the
device timestamp.

Also, since we have the information and it's useful even
before the connection has been established, give all the
timing details to the driver before authenticating.

b48d966526 iwlegacy: don't mess up the SCD when removing a key
When we remove a key, we put a key index which was supposed
to tell the fw that we are actually removing the key. But
instead the fw took that index as a valid index and messed

This memory corruption on the device mangled the data of
the SCD. The impact on the user is that SCD queue 2 got
stuck after having removed keys.

c2ca7d92ed iwlegacy: always monitor for stuck queues
This is iwlegacy version of:

commit 342bbf3fee
Author: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
Date: Sun Mar 4 08:50:46 2012 -0800

iwlwifi: always monitor for stuck queues

If we only monitor while associated, the following
    can happen:
     - we're associated, and the queue stuck check
runs, setting the queue "touch" time to X
     - we disassociate, stopping the monitoring,
which leaves the time set to X
     - almost 2s later, we associate, and enqueue
       a frame
     - before the frame is transmitted, we monitor
for stuck queues, and find the time set to
X, although it is now later than X + 2000ms,
so we decide that the queue is stuck and
       erroneously restart the device

I have no idea what causes these errors. But the code currently uses
wd_timeout in the first error. wd_timeout will generally be set at

d748b4642a mac80211: remove antenna_sel_tx TX info field
This field is never set to anything non-zero in
mac80211, so we should be able to remove it.
Unfortunately though, the iwlwifi and iwlegacy
drivers use it for their internal TX status
processing (which shouldn't be using the rate
control API to start with), so add a new field
"status.antenna" for them, at least for now.

In the future, I plan to use the new field to
hold the hardware queue, while the SKB's queue
mapping holds the AC.

234e340582 simple_open: automatically convert to simple_open()
Many users of debugfs copy the implementation of default_open() when
they want to support a custom read/write function op. This leads to a
proliferation of the default_open() implementation across the entire

Now that the common implementation has been consolidated into libfs we
can replace all the users of this function with simple_open().

This replacement was done with the following semantic patch:

rename it to "last_tsf" to indicate the meaning
and add a note that it may be really old.

I suspect the value may become useful combined
with the rx_status->mactime, but we don't (yet)
store that value and pass it to the driver.

210787e82a iwl3945: fix possible il->txq NULL pointer dereference in delayed works
On il3945_down procedure we free tx queue data and nullify il->txq
pointer. After that we drop mutex and then cancel delayed works. There
is possibility, that after drooping mutex and before the cancel, some
delayed work will start and crash while trying to send commands to
the device. For example, here is reported crash in
il3945_bg_reg_txpower_periodic():
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42766#c10

Patch fix problem by adding il->txq check on works that send commands,
hence utilize tx queue.

Remove the enum il_calib. It defined one identifier: IL_CALIB_MAX.
Remove the function il4965_calib_free_results. It was doing nothing
because IL_CALIB_MAX is zero. Next, remove calib_results from the
il_priv structure and also remove the associated return
type/struct il_calib_result.

02f2f1a951 mac80211: handle non-bufferable MMPDUs correctly
This renames the IEEE80211_TX_CTL_POLL_RESPONSE
TX flag to IEEE80211_TX_CTL_NO_PS_BUFFER and also
uses it for non-bufferable MMPDUs (all MMPDUs but
deauth, disassoc and action frames.)

Previously, mac80211 would let the MMPDU through
but not set the flag so drivers supporting some
hardware aids for avoiding the PS races would
then reject the frame.
