a7d7a143d0 Merge branch 'drm-next' of git://people.freedesktop.org/~airlied/linux
Pull DRM updates from Dave Airlie:
"Like all good pull reqs this ends with a revert, so it must mean we
  tested it,

[ Ed. That's _one_ way of looking at it ]

This pull is missing nouveau, Ben has been stuck trying to track down
a very longstanding bug that revealed itself due to some other
changes. I've asked him to send you a direct pull request for nouveau
once he cleans things up. I'm away until Monday so don't want to
delay things, you can make a decision on that when he sends it, I have
my phone so I can ack things just not really merge much.

It has one trivial conflict with your tree in armada_drv.c, and also
the pull request contains some component changes that are already in
your tree, the base tree from Russell went via Greg's tree already,
but some stuff still shows up in here that doesn't when I merge my
  tree into yours.

Otherwise all pretty standard graphics fare, one new driver and
  changes all over the place.

  New drivers:
   - sti kms driver for STMicroelectronics chipsets stih416 and stih407.

  core:
   - lots of cleanups to the drm core
   - DP MST helper code merged

ef7ce055a9 drm/exynos: g2d: let exynos_g2d_get_ver_ioctl fail
Currently the DRM_IOCTL_EXYNOS_G2D_GET_VER ioctl always succeeds, even
if no G2D support is available. Let the ioctl fail when this is the
case, so that userspace can accurately probe for G2D support.

This also fixes the exynos tests in libdrm. There 'g2d_init' doesn't
fail when G2D is absent, leading to a segfault later.

Both exynos_g2d_set_cmdlist_ioctl and exynos_g2d_exec_ioctl don't check

9a3204156b drm/exynos: dsi: add driver data to support Exynos5410/5420/5440 SoCs
The offset of register DSIM_PLLTMR_REG in Exynos5410 / 5420 / 5440

In case of Exynos5410 / 5420 / 5440 SoCs, there is no frequency

e17ddecc3a drm/exynos: dsi: add TE interrupt handler to support LCD I80 interface
This is a temporary solution and should be made by more
generic way.

To support LCD I80 interface, the DSI host should register
TE interrupt handler from the TE GPIO of attached panel.
So the panel generates a tearing effect synchronization signal
then the DSI host calls the CRTC device manager to trigger
to transfer video image.

d50a1907a3 drm/exynos: Fix NULL pointer exception when suspending without components
Fix a NULL pointer exception when main exynos drm driver was probed
successfully but no components were added (e.g. by incomplete DTS). In
such case the exynos_drm_load() is never called and drvdata is NULL.

The NULL pointer exception may theoretically also happen as a effect of race between
adding components and main driver: if suspend of the driver happens
before adding components.

10a2310265 drm: Introduce drm_fb_helper_prepare()
To implement hotplug detection in a race-free manner, drivers must call
drm_kms_helper_poll_init() before hotplug events can be triggered. Such
events can be triggered right after any of the encoders or connectors
are initialized. At the same time, if the drm_fb_helper_hotplug_event()
helper is used by a driver, then the poll helper requires some parts of
the FB helper to be initialized to prevent a crash.

At the same time, drm_fb_helper_init() requires information that is not
necessarily available at such an early stage (number of CRTCs and
connectors), so it cannot be used yet.

Add a new helper, drm_fb_helper_prepare(), that initializes the bare
minimum needed to allow drm_kms_helper_poll_init() to execute and any
subsequent hotplug events to be processed properly.

Drivers really have no business touching these. Noticed because

Note that this reduces the timeout on exynos from 50s to 5s.

df5225bc9a drm/exynos: consider deferred probe case
This patch makes sure that exynos drm framework handles deferred
probe case correctly.

Sub drivers could be probed before resources, clock, regulator,
phy or panel, are ready for them so we should make sure that exynos
drm core waits until all resources are ready and sub drivers are
probed correctly.

Chagelog v2:
- Make sure that exynos drm core tries to bind sub drivers only in case that
they have a pair: crtc and encoder/connector components should be a pair.
- Remove unnecessary patch:
  drm/exynos: mipi-dsi: consider panel driver-deferred probe

b26c04f47c drm/exynos: Fix PTN3460 dependency
The following configuration options combination:

CONFIG_DRM_EXYNOS_DP=y
CONFIG_DRM_PTN3460=m

currently leads to the following linker failure:

drivers/built-in.o: In function `exynos_drm_attach_lcd_bridge':
.../drivers/gpu/drm/exynos/exynos_dp_core.c:1004:
undefined reference to `ptn3460_init'

This is because ptn3460_init can't be implemented in a module while
its caller is built into the kernel. So add the proper dependency in
Kconfig so that the above can't happen.

I moved DRM_PTN3460 earlier in Kconfig, next to the I2C helper module
section, so that the user has a chance to select it before moving to
the Exynos-specific section.

IMHO the proper way to solve the problem would be to turn ptn3460 into
a clean I2C driver, similar to the other I2C helper chip drivers. It's
the only way to not sink into impossible-to-guess dependencies. Then
ptn3460 could even be moved together with the other I2C helper chip
drivers.

66367461e5 drm/exynos: use 4WORD dma burst length for small fbs
In case of exynos, setting dma-burst to 16Word causes permanent
tearing for very small buffers, e.g. cursor buffer. Burst Mode
switching, which is based on overlay size is not recommended as
overlay size varies a lot towards the end of the screen. This
causes unstable DMA which results into tearing again.

Rendering small buffers with lower burst size doesn't
cause any noticable performance overhead. 128 pixel width is
selected based on mulitple experiments with exynos5 SoCs.
