Here is the big set of USB and Thunderbolt driver changes for 6.1-rc1.
Nothing major in here, lots of little things with new devices supported
and updates for a few drivers. Highlights include:
- thunderbolt/USB4 devices supported a bit better than before,
and some new ids to enable new hardware devices
- USB gadget uvc updates for newer video formats and better v4l
integration (the v4l portions were acked by those maintainers)
- typec updates for tiny issues and more typec drivers for new
chips.
- xhci tiny updates for minor issues
- big usb-serial ftdi_sio driver update to handle new devices
better
- lots of tiny dwc3 fixes and updates for the IP block that is
showing up everywhere these days
- dts updates for new devices being supported
- other tiny janitorial and cleanups fixes for lots of different
USB drivers. Full details are in the shortlog.
All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
issues.

I would like to stop exporting OF-specific devm_gpiod_get_from_of_node()
so that gpiolib can be cleaned a bit, so let's switch to the generic
device property API.
I believe that the only reason the driver, instead of the standard
devm_gpiod_get(), used devm_gpiod_get_from_of_node() is because it
wanted to set up a pretty consumer name for the GPIO, and we now have
a special API for that.

The value returned by an i2c driver's remove function is mostly ignored.
(Only an error message is printed if the value is non-zero that the
error is ignored.)
So change the prototype of the remove function to return no value. This
way driver authors are not tempted to assume that passing an error to
the upper layer is a good idea. All drivers are adapted accordingly.
There is no intended change of behaviour, all callbacks were prepared to
return 0 before.

Here is the large set of char, misc, and other driver subsystem updates
for 5.19-rc1. The merge request for this has been delayed as I wanted
to get lots of linux-next testing due to some late arrivals of changes
for the habannalabs driver.
Highlights of this merge are:
- habanalabs driver updates for new hardware types and fixes and
other updates
- IIO driver tree merge which includes loads of new IIO drivers
and cleanups and additions
- PHY driver tree merge with new drivers and small updates to
existing ones
- interconnect driver tree merge with fixes and updates
- soundwire driver tree merge with some small fixes
- coresight driver tree merge with small fixes and updates
- mhi bus driver tree merge with lots of updates and new device
support
- firmware driver updates
- fpga driver updates
- lkdtm driver updates (with a merge conflict, more on that
below)
- extcon driver tree merge with small updates
- lots of other tiny driver updates and fixes and cleanups, full
details in the shortlog.
All of these have been in linux-next for almost 2 weeks with no reported
problems.
Note, there are 3 merge conflicts when merging this with your tree:
- MAINTAINERS, should be easy to resolve
- drivers/slimbus/qcom-ctrl.c, should be straightforward
resolution
- drivers/misc/lkdtm/stackleak.c, not an easy resolution. This
has been noted in the linux-next tree for a while, and
resolved there, here's a link to the resolution that Stephen
came up with and that Kees says is correct:
https://lore.kernel.org/r/20220509185344.3fe1a354@canb.auug.org.au

This series has been 12 years in the making, it mostly finishes the
work that was started with the founding of Linaro to clean up platform
support in the kernel.
The largest change here is a cleanup of the omap1 platform, which
is the final ARM machine type to get converted to the common-clk
subsystem. All the omap1 specific drivers are now made independent of the
mach/*.h headers to allow the platform to be part of a generic ARMv4/v5
multiplatform kernel. The last bit that enables this support is still
missing here while we wait for some last dependencies to make it into
the mainline kernel through other subsystems.
The s3c24xx, ixp4xx, iop32x, ep93xx and dove platforms were all almost
at the point of allowing multiplatform kernels, this work gets completed
here along with a few additional cleanup. At the same time, the s3c24xx
and s3c64xx are now deprecated and expected to get removed in the future.
The PXA and OMAP1 bits are in a separate branch because of dependencies.
Once both branches are merged, only the three Intel StrongARM platforms
(RiscPC, Footbridge/NetWinder and StrongARM1100) need separate kernels,
and there are no plans to include these.

The extcon_get_extcon_dev() function returns error pointers on error,
NULL when it's a -EPROBE_DEFER defer situation, and ERR_PTR(-ENODEV)
when the CONFIG_EXTCON option is disabled. This is very complicated for
the callers to handle and a number of them had bugs that would lead to
an Oops.
In real life, there are two things which prevented crashes. First,
error pointers would only be returned if there was bug in the caller
where they passed a NULL "extcon_name" and none of them do that.
Second, only two out of the eight drivers will build when CONFIG_EXTCON
is disabled.
The normal way to write this would be to return -EPROBE_DEFER directly
when appropriate and return NULL when CONFIG_EXTCON is disabled. Then
the error handling is simple and just looks like:
dev->edev = extcon_get_extcon_dev(acpi_dev_name(adev));
if (IS_ERR(dev->edev))
return PTR_ERR(dev->edev);
For the two drivers which can build with CONFIG_EXTCON disabled, then
extcon_get_extcon_dev() will now return NULL which is not treated as an
error and the probe will continue successfully. Those two drivers are
"typec_fusb302" and "max8997-battery". In the original code, the
typec_fusb302 driver had an 800ms hang in tcpm_get_current_limit() but
now that function is a no-op. For the max8997-battery driver everything
should continue working as is.

The B_VBUS_VLD_WAKEUP_EN doesn't exist at all and B_SESS_VLD_WAKEUP_EN
needs to be in place of it. We don't utilize B-sensors in the driver,
so it never was a problem, nevertheless let's correct the definition of

Some devices need an extra delay after losing VBUS, otherwise VBUS may
be detected as active at suspend time, preventing the PHY's suspension
by the VBUS detection sensor. This problem was found on Asus Transformer
TF700T (Tegra30) tablet device, where the USB PHY wakes up immediately
from suspend because VBUS sensor continues to detect VBUS as active after
disconnection. We need to poll the PHY's VBUS wakeup status until it's

The USB charger type and status was already propagated to userspace
through kobject_uevent_env during charger notify work. Nevertheless the
uevent could be lost e.g. because it could be fired at an early kernel
boot stage, way before udev daemon or any other user-space app was able
to catch it. Registering uevent hook for introduced usb_phy_dev_type
will allow to query sysfs 'uevent' file to restore that information at
any time.

The PHY hardware needs the delay of 2ms after power up, otherwise initial
interrupt may be lost if USB controller is accessed before PHY is settled
down. Previously this issue was masked by implicit delays, but now it pops
up after squashing the older ehci-tegra driver into the ChipIdea driver.

The commit 2a6c0b82e6 ("USB: PHY: JZ4770: Add support for new
Ingenic SoCs.") introduced the initialization function for different
chips, but left the relevant code involved in the resetting process
in the original function, resulting in uninitialized variable calls.

Rationale:
Reduces attack surface on kernel devs opening the links for MITM
as HTTPS traffic is much harder to manipulate.
Deterministic algorithm:
For each file:
If not .svg:
For each line:
If doesn't contain `\bxmlns\b`:
For each link, `\bhttp://[^# \t\r\n]*(?:\w|/)`:
If neither `\bgnu\.org/license`, nor `\bmozilla\.org/MPL\b`:
If both the HTTP and HTTPS versions
return 200 OK and serve the same content:
Replace HTTP with HTTPS.

No idea why this driver is using a char device node, statically
allocated, with no dynamic allocation or hook up with devtmpfs, along
with a reserverd major number, for "special" operations, not all of
which ever were implemented.
So just rip it out, as no one must be using it because no modern system
will ever actually create the /dev/ node it needs.

This file has a HUGE debugging sysfs file that spews out a lot of
information all at once, which violates the one-value-per-file rule for
sysfs. If this is really needed, it should go into debugfs, but given
the age of this driver, I strongly doubt anyone is using it anymore.
So just remove the file entirely, it was never documented, so obviously,
no one actually needed it :)

the '@' or the ':' is omitted then kerneldoc complains that the description
is missing. Add the missing ':'s here.

In the function tegra_usb_phy_probe(), if usb_add_phy_dev() failed,
the return value will be given to err, and if usb_add_phy_dev() succeed,
the return value will be zero. Thus it is unnecessary to repeated check
