98fd433aa6 powerpc/boot: Define byteswapping routines for little endian
These are not the most efficient versions of swab but the wrapper does
not do much byte swapping. On a big endian cpu, these routines are
a no-op.

b636031a7b powerpc/boot: Fix compile warning in 64bit
arch/powerpc/boot/oflib.c:211:9: warning: cast to pointer from integer of \

  return (phandle) of_call_prom("finddevice", 1, 1, name);

This is a work around. The definite solution would be to define the
phandle typedef as a u32, as in the kernel, but this would break the
device tree ops API.

Let it be for the moment.

fed23ed7eb powerpc/boot: Use a common prom_args struct in oflib
This patch fixes warnings when the wrapper is compiled in 64bit and
updates the boot wrapper code related to prom to converge with the
kernel code in prom_init. This should make the review of changes easier.

The kernel has a different number of possible arguments (10) when
entering prom. There does not seem to be any good reason to have
12 in the wrapper, so the patch changes this value to args[10] in
the prom_args struct.

65fd766b99 powerpc/powernv: Missed IOMMU table type
In function pnv_pci_ioda2_setup_dma_pe(), the IOMMU table type is
set to (TCE_PCI_SWINV_CREATE | TCE_PCI_SWINV_FREE) unconditionally.
It was just set to TCE_PCI by pnv_pci_setup_iommu_table(). So the

361f2a2a15 powrpc/powernv: Reset PHB in kdump kernel

d92a208d08 powerpc/pci: Mask linkDown on resetting PCI bus
The problem was initially reported by Wendy who tried pass through
IPR adapter, which was connected to PHB root port directly, to KVM
based guest. When doing that, pci_reset_bridge_secondary_bus() was
called by VFIO driver and linkDown was detected by the root port.
That caused all PEs to be frozen.

The patch fixes the issue by routing the reset for the secondary bus
of root port to underly firmware. For that, one more weak function
pci_reset_secondary_bus() is introduced so that the individual platforms
can override that and do specific reset for bridge's secondary bus.

26833a5029 powerpc/eeh: Make the delay for PE reset unified
Basically, we have 3 types of resets to fulfil PE reset: fundamental,

d2b0f6f77e powerpc/eeh: No hotplug on permanently removed dev
The issue was detected in a bit complicated test case where
we have multiple hierarchical PEs shown as following figure:

                +-----------------+
                | PE#3 p2p#0 |
                | p2p#1 |
                +-----------------+
                        |
                +-----------------+
                | PE#4 pdev#0 |
                | pdev#1 |
                +-----------------+

PE#4 (have 2 PCI devices) is the child of PE#3, which has 2 p2p
bridges. We accidentally had less-known scenario: PE#4 was removed
permanently from the system because of permanent failure (e.g.
exceeding the max allowd failure times in last hour), then we detects
EEH errors on PE#3 and tried to recover it. However, eeh_dev instances
for pdev#0/1 were not detached from PE#4, which was still connected to
PE#3. All of that was because of the fact that we rely on count-based
pcibios_release_device(), which isn't reliable enough. When doing
recovery for PE#3, we still apply hotplug on PE#4 and pdev#0/1, which
are not valid any more. Eventually, we run into kernel crash.

The patch fixes above issue from two aspects. For unplug, we simply
skip those permanently removed PE, whose state is (EEH_PE_STATE_ISOLATED
&& !EEH_PE_STATE_RECOVERING) and its frozen count should be greater
than EEH_MAX_ALLOWED_FREEZES. For plug, we marked all permanently
removed EEH devices with EEH_DEV_REMOVED and return 0xFF's on read
its PCI config so that PCI core will omit them.

7f52a526f6 powerpc/eeh: Allow to disable EEH
The patch introduces bootarg "eeh=off" to disable EEH functinality.
Also, it creates /sys/kerenl/debug/powerpc/eeh_enable to disable
or enable EEH functionality. By default, we have the functionality
enabled.

For PowerNV platform, we will restore to have the conventional
mechanism of clearing frozen PE during PCI config access if we're
going to disable EEH functionality. Conversely, we will rely on
EEH for error recovery.

The patch also fixes the issue that we missed to cover the case
of disabled EEH functionality in function ioda_eeh_event(). Those
events driven by interrupt should be cleared to avoid endless
reporting.

7895470063 powerpc/eeh: Avoid I/O access during PE reset
We have suffered recrusive frozen PE a lot, which was caused
by IO accesses during the PE reset. Ben came up with the good
idea to keep frozen PE until recovery (BAR restore) gets done.
With that, IO accesses during PE reset are dropped by hardware
and wouldn't incur the recrusive frozen PE any more.

The patch implements the idea. We don't clear the frozen state
until PE reset is done completely. During the period, the EEH
core expects unfrozen state from backend to keep going. So we
have to reuse EEH_PE_RESET flag, which has been set during PE
reset, to return normal state from backend. The side effect is
we have to clear frozen state for towice (PE reset and clear it
explicitly), but that's harmless.

We have some limitations on pHyp. pHyp doesn't allow to enable
IO or DMA for unfrozen PE. So we don't enable them on unfrozen PE
in eeh_pci_enable(). We have to enable IO before grabbing logs on
pHyp. Otherwise, 0xFF's is always returned from PCI config space.
Also, we had wrong return value from eeh_pci_enable() for
EEH_OPT_THAW_DMA case. The patch fixes it too.

d0914f503f powerpc/eeh: Block PCI-CFG access during PE reset
We've observed multiple PE reset failures because of PCI-CFG
access during that period. Potentially, some device drivers
can't support EEH very well and they can't put the device to
motionless state before PE reset. So those device drivers might
produce PCI-CFG accesses during PE reset. Also, we could have
PCI-CFG access from user space (e.g. "lspci"). Since access to
frozen PE should return 0xFF's, we can block PCI-CFG access
during the period of PE reset so that we won't get recrusive EEH
errors.

The patch adds flag EEH_PE_RESET, which is kept during PE reset.
The PowerNV/pSeries PCI-CFG accessors reuse the flag to block
PCI-CFG accordingly.

42dbfc8649 powerpc/pseries: Protect remove_memory() with device hotplug lock
While testing memory hot-remove, I found following dead lock:

Process #1141 is drmgr, trying to remove some memory, i.e. memory499.
It holds the memory_hotplug_mutex, and blocks when trying to remove file
"online" under dir memory499, in kernfs_drain(), at
        wait_event(root->deactivate_waitq,
                   atomic_read(&kn->active) == KN_DEACTIVATED_BIAS);

Process #1120 is trying to online memory499 by
   echo 1 > memory499/online

In .kernfs_fop_write, it uses kernfs_get_active() to increase
&kn->active, thus blocking process #1141. While itself is blocked later
when trying to acquire memory_hotplug_mutex, which is held by process

The backtrace of both processes are shown below:

This patch uses lock_device_hotplug() to protect remove_memory() called
in pseries_remove_memblock(), which is also stated before function
remove_memory():

 * NOTE: The caller must call lock_device_hotplug() to serialize hotplug
 * and online/offline operations before this call, as required by
 * try_offline_node().
 */
void __ref remove_memory(int nid, u64 start, u64 size)

With this lock held, the other process(#1120 above) trying to online the
memory block will retry the system call when calling
lock_device_hotplug_sysfs(), and finally find No such device error.

298b34d7d5 powerpc/powernv: Fix kexec races going back to OPAL
We have a subtle race when sending CPUs back to OPAL on kexec.

We mark them as "in real mode" right before we send them down. Once
we've booted the new kernel, it might try to call opal_reinit_cpus()
to change endianness, and that requires all CPUs to be spinning inside
OPAL.

However there is no synchronization here and we've observed cases
where the returning CPUs hadn't established their new state inside
OPAL before opal_reinit_cpus() is called, causing it to fail.

The proper fix is to actually wait for them to go down all the way
from the kexec'ing kernel.

63aecfb20a powerpc/powernv: Check sysparam size before creation
The size of the sysparam sysfs files is determined from the device tree
at boot. However the buffer is hard coded to 64 bytes. If we encounter a

buffer will overflow when reading or writing to the parameter.

Check it at discovery time, and if the parameter is too large, do not

ba9a32b176 powerpc/powernv: Fix sysparam sysfs error handling
When a sysparam query in OPAL returned a negative value (error code),
sysfs would spew out a decent chunk of memory; almost 64K more than
expected. This was traced to a sign/unsigned mix up in the OPAL sysparam
sysfs code at sys_param_show.

The return value of sys_param_show is a ssize_t, calculated using

  return ret ? ret : attr->param_size;

Alan Modra explains:

"attr->param_size" is an unsigned int, "ret" an int, so the overall
expression has type unsigned int. Result is that ret is cast to
unsigned int before being cast to ssize_t.

Instead of using the ternary operator, set ret to the param_size if an
error is not detected. The same bug exists in the sysfs write callback;
this patch fixes it in the same way.

A note on debugging this next time: on my system gcc will warn about
this if compiled with -Wsign-compare, which is not enabled by -Wall,
only -Wextra.

The reason is that the rtas_args was moved into stack space. For a box

So the patch moves rtas_args away from stack by adding static before

Commit 8f619b5429 ("powerpc/ppc64: Do not turn AIL (reloc-on
interrupts) too early") added code to set the AIL bit in the LPCR
without checking whether the kernel is running in hypervisor mode. The
result is that when the kernel is running as a guest (i.e., under
PowerKVM or PowerVM), the processor takes a privileged instruction
interrupt at that point, causing a panic. The visible result is that
the kernel hangs after printing "returning from prom_init".

This fixes it by checking for hypervisor mode being available before
setting LPCR. If we are not in hypervisor mode, we enable relocation-on
interrupts later in pSeries_setup_arch using the H_SET_MODE hcall.

"The first vfs pile, with deep apologies for being very late in this

Assorted cleanups and fixes, plus a large preparatory part of iov_iter
work. There's a lot more of that, but it'll probably go into the next
merge window - it *does* shape up nicely, removes a lot of
boilerplate, gets rid of locking inconsistencie between aio_write and
splice_write and I hope to get Kent's direct-io rewrite merged into
the same queue, but some of the stuff after this point is having
(mostly trivial) conflicts with the things already merged into
mainline and with some I want more testing.

This one passes LTP and xfstests without regressions, in addition to
usual beating. BTW, readahead02 in ltp syscalls testsuite has started
giving failures since "mm/readahead.c: fix readahead failure for
memoryless NUMA nodes and limit readahead pages" - might be a false
positive, might be a real regression..."

The rest is a bunch of LE fixes (argh, some of the new stuff was

Finally one bit that's not strictly a fix, which is the HVC OPAL

This was caused by that 'sd->groups == NULL' after building groups, which
was caused by the empty 'sd->span'.

The cpu's domain contained nothing because the cpu was assigned to a wrong
node, due to the following unfortunate sequence of events:

1. The hypervisor sent a topology update to the guest OS, to notify changes
to the cpu-node mapping. However, the update was actually redundant - i.e.,
the "new" mapping was exactly the same as the old one.

2. Due to this, the 'updated_cpus' mask turned out to be empty after exiting
   the 'for-loop' in arch_update_cpu_topology().

3. So we ended up calling stop-machine() with an empty cpumask list, which made
   stop-machine internally elect cpumask_first(cpu_online_mask), i.e., CPU0 as
the cpu to run the payload (the update_cpu_topology() function).

4. This causes update_cpu_topology() to be run by CPU0. And since 'updates'
   is kzalloc()'ed inside arch_update_cpu_topology(), update_cpu_topology()
finds update->cpu as well as update->new_nid to be 0. In other words, we
end up assigning CPU0 (and eventually its siblings) to node 0, incorrectly.

Along with the following wrong updating, it causes the sched-domain rebuild
code to break and crash the system.

Fix this by skipping the topology update in cases where we find that
the topology has not actually changed in reality (ie., spurious updates).

d3d35d957a powerpc/le: Avoid creatng R_PPC64_TOCSAVE relocations for modules.
When building modules with a native le toolchain the linker will
generate R_PPC64_TOCSAVE relocations when it's safe to omit saving r2 on
a plt call. This isn't helpful in the conext of a kernel module and the
kernel will fail to load those modules with an error like:
	nf_conntrack: Unknown ADD relocation: 109

This patch tells the linker to avoid createing R_PPC64_TOCSAVE

6e556b4710 powerpc/book3s: Fix mc_recoverable_range buffer overrun issue.
Currently we wrongly allocate mc_recoverable_range buffer (to hold
recoverable ranges) based on size of the property "mcheck-recoverable-ranges".
This results in allocating less memory to hold available recoverable range
entries from /proc/device-tree/ibm,opal/mcheck-recoverable-ranges.

This patch fixes this issue by allocating mc_recoverable_range buffer based
on number of entries of recoverable ranges instead of device property size.
Without this change we end up allocating less memory and run into memory
corruption issue.

2aaf308b95 rapidio: rework device hierarchy and introduce mport class of devices
This patch removes an artificial RapidIO bus root device and establishes
actual device hierarchy by providing reference to real parent devices.
It also introduces device class for RapidIO controller devices (on-chip
or an eternal bridge, known as "mport").

Existing implementation was sufficient for SoC-based platforms that have
a single RapidIO controller. With introduction of devices using
multiple RapidIO controllers and PCIe-to-RapidIO bridges the old scheme
is very limiting or does not work at all. The implemented changes allow
to properly reference platform's local RapidIO mport devices and provide
device details needed for upper layers.

This change to RapidIO device hierarchy does not break any known
existing kernel or user space interfaces.

467a9e1633 CPU hotplug notifiers registration fixes for 3.15-rc1
The purpose of this single series of commits from Srivatsa S Bhat (with
a small piece from Gautham R Shenoy) touching multiple subsystems that use
CPU hotplug notifiers is to provide a way to register them that will not
lead to deadlocks with CPU online/offline operations as described in the
changelog of commit 93ae4f978c (CPU hotplug: Provide lockless versions
 of callback registration functions).

The first three commits in the series introduce the API and document it
and the rest simply goes through the users of CPU hotplug notifiers and
converts them to using the new method.

b3d627a5f2 cpufreq: powernv: cpufreq driver for powernv platform
Backend driver to dynamically set voltage and frequency on
IBM POWER non-virtualized platforms. Power management SPRs
are used to set the required PState.

This driver works in conjunction with cpufreq governors
like 'ondemand' to provide a demand based frequency and
voltage setting on IBM POWER non-virtualized platforms.

PState table is obtained from OPAL v3 firmware through device
tree.

powernv_cpufreq back-end driver would parse the relevant device-tree
nodes and initialise the cpufreq subsystem on powernv platform.

The code was originally written by svaidy@linux.vnet.ibm.com. Over
time it was modified to accomodate bug-fixes as well as updates to the
the cpu-freq core. Relevant portions of the change logs corresponding
to those modifications are noted below:

 * The policy->cpus needs to be populated in a hotplug-invariant
manner instead of using cpu_sibling_mask() which varies with
cpu-hotplug. This is because the cpufreq core code copies this
content into policy->related_cpus mask which should not vary on
   cpu-hotplug. [Authored by srivatsa.bhat@linux.vnet.ibm.com]

 * Create a helper routine that can return the cpu-frequency for the
corresponding pstate_id. Also, cache the values of the pstate_max,
   pstate_min and pstate_nominal and nr_pstates in a static structure
so that they can be reused in the future to perform any
   validations. [Authored by ego@linux.vnet.ibm.com]

 * Create a driver attribute named cpuinfo_nominal_freq which creates
a sysfs read-only file named cpuinfo_nominal_freq. Export the
frequency corresponding to the nominal_pstate through this
   interface.

Nominal frequency is the highest non-turbo frequency for the
platform. This is generally used for setting governor policies
from user space for optimal energy efficiency. [Authored by
   ego@linux.vnet.ibm.com]

 * Implement a powernv_cpufreq_get(unsigned int cpu) method which will
return the current operating frequency. Export this via the sysfs
interface cpuinfo_cur_freq by setting powernv_cpufreq_driver.get to
   powernv_cpufreq_get(). [Authored by ego@linux.vnet.ibm.com]

a944a9c40b powerpc/ppc64: Gracefully handle early interrupts
If we take an interrupt such as a trap caused by a BUG_ON before the
MMU has been setup, the interrupt handlers try to enable virutal mode
and cause a recursive crash, making the original problem very hard
to debug.

This fixes it by adjusting the "kernel_msr" value in the PACA so that
it only has MSR_IR and MSR_DR (translation for instruction and data)
set after the MMU has been initialized for the processor.

We may still not have a console yet but at least we don't get into
a recursive fault (and early debug console or memory dump via JTAG
of the kernel buffer *will* give us the proper error).

This moves tm_recheckpoint to a C function and moves the tm_restore_sprs into
that function. It then adds IRQ disabling over the trechkpt critical section.
It also sets the TEXASR FS in the signals code to ensure this is never set now
that we explictly write the TM sprs in tm_recheckpoint.

a08a53ea4c powerpc/le: Enable RTAS events support
The current kernel code assumes big endian and parses RTAS events all
wrong. The most visible effect is that we cannot honor EPOW events,
meaning, for example, we cannot shut down a guest properly from the
hypervisor.

This new patch is largely inspired by Nathan's work: we get rid of all
the bit fields in the RTAS event structures (even the unused ones, for
consistency). We also introduce endian safe accessors for the fields used
by the kernel (trivial rtas_error_type() accessor added for consistency).

c59c015b6a powerpc: Correct emulated mtfsf instruction
The emulated (CONFIG_MATH_EMULATION_FULL)
PowerPC Floating Point instruction mtfsf
does not correctly copy bits from its source
register to the Floating Point Status and Register (FPSCR).

The error is in the preparation of the mask used to
select the bits to be copied from the source to the FPSCR.

Execution of the mtfsf instruction does not produce the same
results on a MPC8548 platform (emulated floating point)
as on MPC7410 or 440EP platforms (hardware floating point).

This error has been detected using a Freescale MPC8548
based platform and the patch below tested using that platform.

The patch is based on the patch(es) provided by
Gabriel Paubert and analysis by Gabriel, James Yang and David Laight.

68114e5eb8 Most of the changes were largely clean ups, and some documentation.
But there were a few features that were added.

Uprobes now work with event triggers and multi buffers.
Uprobes have support under ftrace and perf.

The big feature is that the function tracer can now be used within the
multi buffer instances. That is, you can now trace some functions
in one buffer, others in another buffer, all functions in a third buffer
and so on. They are basically agnostic from each other. This only
works for the function tracer and not for the function graph trace,
although you can have the function graph tracer running in the top level
buffer (or any tracer for that matter) and have different function tracing
going on in the sub buffers.

b9f2b21a32 Devicetree changes for v3.15
Updates to devicetree core code. This branch contains the following notable changes:
 * Add reserved memory binding
 * Make struct device_node a kobject and remove legacy /proc/device-tree
 * ePAPR conformance fixes
 * Update in-kernel DTC copy to version v1.4.0
 * Preparation changes for dynamic device tree overlays

235c7b9feb Merge branch 'next' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/benh/powerpc
Pull main powerpc updates from Ben Herrenschmidt:
"This time around, the powerpc merges are going to be a little bit more
  complicated than usual.

This is the main pull request with most of the work for this merge
window. I will describe it a bit more further down.

There is some additional cpuidle driver work, however I haven't
included it in this tree as it depends on some work in tip/timer-core
which Thomas accidentally forgot to put in a topic branch. Since I
didn't want to carry all of that tip timer stuff in powerpc -next, I
setup a separate branch on top of Thomas tree with just that cpuidle
driver in it, and Stephen has been carrying that in next separately
for a while now. I'll send a separate pull request for it.

Additionally, two new pieces in this tree add users for a sysfs API
that Tejun and Greg have been deprecating in drivers-core-next.
Thankfully Greg reverted the patch that removes the old API so this
merge can happen cleanly, but once merged, I will send a patch
adjusting our new code to the new API so that Greg can send you the
  removal patch.

Now as for the content of this branch, we have a lot of perf work for
power8 new counters including support for our new "nest" counters
(also called 24x7) under pHyp (not natively yet).

We have new functionality when running under the OPAL firmware
(non-virtualized or KVM host), such as access to the firmware error
logs and service processor dumps, system parameters and sensors, along
with a hwmon driver for the latter.

There's also a bunch of bug fixes accross the board, some LE fixes,
and a nice set of selftests for validating our various types of copy
  loops.

On the Freescale side, we see mostly new chip/board revisions, some
clock updates, better support for machine checks and debug exceptions,
  etc..."

4dedde7c7a ACPI and power management updates for 3.15-rc1
- Device PM QoS support for latency tolerance constraints on systems with
hardware interfaces allowing such constraints to be specified. That is
necessary to prevent hardware-driven power management from becoming
overly aggressive on some systems and to prevent power management
features leading to excessive latencies from being used in some cases.

  - Consolidation of the handling of ACPI hotplug notifications for device
objects. This causes all device hotplug notifications to go through
the root notify handler (that was executed for all of them anyway
before) that propagates them to individual subsystems, if necessary,
by executing callbacks provided by those subsystems (those callbacks
are associated with struct acpi_device objects during device
enumeration). As a result, the code in question becomes both smaller
in size and more straightforward and all of those changes should not
    affect users.

  - ACPICA update, including fixes related to the handling of _PRT in cases
when it is broken and the addition of "Windows 2013" to the list of
supported "features" for _OSI (which is necessary to support systems
that work incorrectly or don't even boot without it). Changes from
    Bob Moore and Lv Zheng.

  - Consolidation of ACPI _OST handling from Jiang Liu.

  - ACPI battery and AC fixes allowing unusual system configurations to
be handled by that code from Alexander Mezin.

  - New device IDs for the ACPI LPSS driver from Chiau Ee Chew.

  - ACPI fan and thermal optimizations related to system suspend and resume
    from Aaron Lu.

  - Cleanups related to ACPI video from Jean Delvare.

  - Assorted ACPI fixes and cleanups from Al Stone, Hanjun Guo, Lan Tianyu,
    Paul Bolle, Tomasz Nowicki.

  - Intel RAPL (Running Average Power Limits) driver cleanups from Jacob Pan.

  - intel_pstate fixes and cleanups from Dirk Brandewie.

  - cpufreq core fixes and cleanups from Viresh Kumar, Stratos Karafotis,

  - cpufreq drivers updates from Viresh Kumar, Zhuoyu Zhang, Rob Herring.

  - cpuidle fixes related to the menu governor from Tuukka Tikkanen.

  - cpuidle fix related to coupled CPUs handling from Paul Burton.

  - Asynchronous execution of all device suspend and resume callbacks,
except for ->prepare and ->complete, during system suspend and resume
    from Chuansheng Liu.

  - Delayed resuming of runtime-suspended devices during system suspend for
the PCI bus type and ACPI PM domain.

  - New set of PM helper routines to allow device runtime PM callbacks to
be used during system suspend and resume more easily from Ulf Hansson.

  - Assorted fixes and cleanups in the PM core from Geert Uytterhoeven,
Prabhakar Lad, Philipp Zabel, Rashika Kheria, Sebastian Capella.

  - devfreq fix from Saravana Kannan.

Merge tag 'pm+acpi-3.15-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/rafael/linux-pm

Pull ACPI and power management updates from Rafael Wysocki:
"The majority of this material spent some time in linux-next, some of
it even several weeks. There are a few relatively fresh commits in
it, but they are mostly fixes and simple cleanups.

ACPI took the lead this time, both in terms of the number of commits
and the number of modified lines of code, cpufreq follows and there
are a few changes in the PM core and in cpuidle too.

A new feature that already got some LWN.net's attention is the device
PM QoS extension allowing latency tolerance requirements to be
propagated from leaf devices to their ancestors with hardware
interfaces for specifying latency tolerance. That should help systems
with hardware-driven power management to avoid going too far with it
in cases when there are latency tolerance constraints.

There also are some significant changes in the ACPI core related to
the way in which hotplug notifications are handled. They affect PCI
hotplug (ACPIPHP) and the ACPI dock station code too. The bottom line
is that all those notification now go through the root notify handler
and are propagated to the interested subsystems by means of callbacks
instead of having to install a notify handler for each device object
that we can potentially get hotplug notifications for.

In addition to that ACPICA will now advertise "Windows 2013"
compatibility for _OSI, because some systems out there don't work
correctly if that is not done (some of them don't even boot).

On the system suspend side of things, all of the device suspend and
resume callbacks, except for ->prepare() and ->complete(), are now
going to be executed asynchronously as that turns out to speed up
system suspend and resume on some platforms quite significantly and we
have a few more optimizations in that area.

Apart from that, there are some new device IDs and fixes and cleanups
all over. In particular, the system suspend and resume handling by
cpufreq should be improved and the cpuidle menu governor should be a
  bit more robust now.

  Specifics:

   - Device PM QoS support for latency tolerance constraints on systems
with hardware interfaces allowing such constraints to be specified.
That is necessary to prevent hardware-driven power management from
becoming overly aggressive on some systems and to prevent power
management features leading to excessive latencies from being used
     in some cases.

   - Consolidation of the handling of ACPI hotplug notifications for
device objects. This causes all device hotplug notifications to go
through the root notify handler (that was executed for all of them
anyway before) that propagates them to individual subsystems, if
necessary, by executing callbacks provided by those subsystems
(those callbacks are associated with struct acpi_device objects
during device enumeration). As a result, the code in question
becomes both smaller in size and more straightforward and all of
those changes should not affect users.

   - ACPICA update, including fixes related to the handling of _PRT in
cases when it is broken and the addition of "Windows 2013" to the
list of supported "features" for _OSI (which is necessary to
support systems that work incorrectly or don't even boot without
it). Changes from Bob Moore and Lv Zheng.

   - Tree wide update of irq_set_affinity() callbacks which miss a cpu

   - Tree wide consolidation of interrupt statistics.

   - Updates to the threaded interrupt infrastructure to allow explicit
wakeup of the interrupt thread and a variant of synchronize_irq()
which synchronizes only the hard interrupt handler. Both are
needed to replace the homebrewn thread handling in the mmc/sdhci

   - New irq chip callbacks to allow proper support for GPIO based irqs.
The GPIO based interrupts need to request/release GPIO resources

f8bbbfc3b9 net: filter: add jited flag to indicate jit compiled filters
This patch adds a jited flag into sk_filter struct in order to indicate
whether a filter is currently jited or not. The size of sk_filter is
not being expanded as the 32 bit 'len' member allows upper bits to be
reused since a filter can currently only grow as large as BPF_MAXINSNS.

Therefore, there's enough room also for other in future needed flags to
reuse 'len' field if necessary. The jited flag also allows for having
alternative interpreter functions running as currently, we can only
detect jit compiled filters by testing fp->bpf_func to not equal the
address of sk_run_filter().

72cde5a88d KVM: PPC: Book3S HV: Save/restore host PMU registers that are new in POWER8
Currently we save the host PMU configuration, counter values, etc.,
when entering a guest, and restore it on return from the guest.
(We have to do this because the guest has control of the PMU while
it is executing.) However, we missed saving/restoring the SIAR and
SDAR registers, as well as the registers which are new on POWER8,
namely SIER and MMCR2.

This adds code to save the values of these registers when entering
the guest and restore them on exit. This also works around the bug
in POWER8 where setting PMAE with a counter already negative doesn't
generate an interrupt.

c5fb80d3b2 KVM: PPC: Book3S HV: Fix decrementer timeouts with non-zero TB offset
Commit c7699822bc21 ("KVM: PPC: Book3S HV: Make physical thread 0 do
the MMU switching") reordered the guest entry/exit code so that most
of the guest register save/restore code happened in guest MMU context.
A side effect of that is that the timebase still contains the guest
timebase value at the point where we compute and use vcpu->arch.dec_expires,
and therefore that is now a guest timebase value rather than a host
timebase value. That in turn means that the timeouts computed in
kvmppc_set_timer() are wrong if the timebase offset for the guest is
non-zero. The consequence of that is things such as "sleep 1" in a
guest after migration may sleep for much longer than they should.

This fixes the problem by converting between guest and host timebase
values as necessary, by adding or subtracting the timebase offset.
This also fixes an incorrect comment.

797f9c07eb KVM: PPC: Book3S HV: Don't use kvm_memslots() in real mode
With HV KVM, some high-frequency hypercalls such as H_ENTER are handled
in real mode, and need to access the memslots array for the guest.
Accessing the memslots array is safe, because we hold the SRCU read
lock for the whole time that a guest vcpu is running. However, the
checks that kvm_memslots() does when lockdep is enabled are potentially
unsafe in real mode, when only the linear mapping is available.
Furthermore, kvm_memslots() can be called from a secondary CPU thread,
which is an offline CPU from the point of view of the host kernel,
and is not running the task which holds the SRCU read lock.

To avoid false positives in the checks in kvm_memslots(), and to avoid
possible side effects from doing the checks in real mode, this replaces
kvm_memslots() with kvm_memslots_raw() in all the places that execute
in real mode. kvm_memslots_raw() is a new function that is like
kvm_memslots() but uses rcu_dereference_raw_notrace() instead of
kvm_dereference_check().

b24f36f33e KVM: PPC: Book3S: Trim top 4 bits of physical address in RTAS code
The in-kernel emulation of RTAS functions needs to read the argument
buffer from guest memory in order to find out what function is being
requested. The guest supplies the guest physical address of the buffer,
and on a real system the code that reads that buffer would run in guest
real mode. In guest real mode, the processor ignores the top 4 bits
of the address specified in load and store instructions. In order to
emulate that behaviour correctly, we need to mask off those bits
before calling kvm_read_guest() or kvm_write_guest(). This adds that
masking.

e59d24e612 KVM: PPC: Book3S HV: Fix incorrect userspace exit on ioeventfd write
When the guest does an MMIO write which is handled successfully by an
ioeventfd, ioeventfd_write() returns 0 (success) and
kvmppc_handle_store() returns EMULATE_DONE.  Then
kvmppc_emulate_mmio() converts EMULATE_DONE to RESUME_GUEST_NV and
this causes an exit from the loop in kvmppc_vcpu_run_hv(), causing an
exit back to userspace with a bogus exit reason code, typically
causing userspace (e.g. qemu) to crash with a message about an unknown
exit code.

This adds handling of RESUME_GUEST_NV in kvmppc_vcpu_run_hv() in order
to fix that. For generality, we define a helper to check for either
of the return-to-guest codes we use, RESUME_GUEST and RESUME_GUEST_NV,
to make it easy to check for either and provide one place to update if
any other return-to-guest code gets defined in future.

Since it only affects Book3S HV for now, the helper is added to
the kvm_book3s.h header file.

We use the helper in two places in kvmppc_run_core() as well for
future-proofing, though we don't see RESUME_GUEST_NV in either place
at present.

599d287042 powerpc/le: Big endian arguments for ppc_rtas()
The ppc_rtas() syscall allows userspace to interact directly with RTAS.
For the moment, it assumes every thing is big endian and returns either
EINVAL or EFAULT when called in a little endian environment.

As suggested by Benjamin, to avoid bugs when userspace wants to pass
a non 32 bit value to RTAS, it is far better to stick with a simple
rationale: ppc_rtas() should be called with a big endian rtas_args
structure.

With this patch, it is now up to userspace to forge big endian arguments,

e9aaac1ac3 powerpc/perf: Fix handling of L3 events with bank == 1
Currently we reject events which have the L3 bank == 1, such as
0x000084918F, because the cache field is non-zero.

However that is incorrect, because although the bank is non-zero, the
value we would write into MMCRC is zero, and so we can count the event.

So fix the check to ignore the bank selector when checking whether the
cache selector is non-zero.

a8b2c43671 powerpc/perf: Add 24x7 interface headers
24x7 (also called hv_24x7 or H_24X7) is an interface to obtain
performance counters from the hypervisor. These counters do not have a
fixed format/possition and are instead documented in a "24x7 Catalog",
which is provided by the hypervisor (that interface is also documented
paritialy in the included hv-24x7-catalog.h and fully in at
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/jmesmon/catalog-24x7/master/hv-24x7-catalog.h ).

The 24x7 data access is simply a copy operation into a 4 dimentional
array of 64bit counters (from hypervisor to kernel memory). There is no
interupt triggered on overflow, these are completely disjoint from the
typical power pmu.

This method of obtaining performance counters from the hypervisor is
intended to paritialy replace the gpci interface.

ba969237cf powerpc/perf: Add BHRB constraint and IFM MMCRA handling for EBB
We want a way for users of EBB (Event Based Branches) to also access the
BHRB (Branch History Rolling Buffer). EBB does not interoperate with our
existing BHRB support, which is wired into the generic Linux branch
stack sampling support.

To support EBB & BHRB we add three new bits to the event code. The first
bit indicates that the event wants access to the BHRB, and the other two
bits indicate the desired IFM (Instruction Filtering Mode).

We allow multiple events to request access to the BHRB, but they must
agree on the IFM value. Events which are not interested in the BHRB can
also interoperate with events which do.

Finally we program the desired IFM value into MMCRA. Although we do this
for every event, we know that the value will be identical for all events
that request BHRB access.

d1a5511390 powerpc, sysfs: Fix CPU hotplug callback registration
Subsystems that want to register CPU hotplug callbacks, as well as perform
initialization for the CPUs that are already online, often do it as shown
below:

	get_online_cpus();

	for_each_online_cpu(cpu)
		init_cpu(cpu);

	register_cpu_notifier(&foobar_cpu_notifier);

	put_online_cpus();

This is wrong, since it is prone to ABBA deadlocks involving the
cpu_add_remove_lock and the cpu_hotplug.lock (when running concurrently
with CPU hotplug operations).

Instead, the correct and race-free way of performing the callback
registration is:

	cpu_notifier_register_begin();

	for_each_online_cpu(cpu)
		init_cpu(cpu);

/* Note the use of the double underscored version of the API */
	__register_cpu_notifier(&foobar_cpu_notifier);

	cpu_notifier_register_done();

Fix the sysfs code in powerpc by using this latter form of callback
registration.

48b16180d0 fsl/pci: The new pci suspend/resume implementation
If we do nothing in suspend/resume, some platform PCIe ip-block
can't guarantee the link back to L0 state from sleep, then, when
we read the EP device will hang. Only we send pme turnoff message

link state will be normal.

When we send pme turnoff message in pci controller suspend, the
links will into l2/l3 ready, then, host cannot communicate with
ep device, but pci-driver will call back EP device to save them
state. So we need to change platform_driver->suspend/resume to
syscore->suspend/resume.

So the new suspend/resume implementation, send pme turnoff message
in suspend, and send pme exit message in resume. And add a PME handler,
to response PME & message interrupt.

Change platform_driver->suspend/resume to syscore->suspend/resume.
pci-driver will call back EP device, to save EP state in

d20f78d252 x86, random: Enable the RDSEED instruction
Upcoming Intel silicon adds a new RDSEED instruction, which is similar
to RDRAND but provides a stronger guarantee: unlike RDRAND, RDSEED
will always reseed the PRNG from the true random number source between
each read. Thus, the output of RDSEED is guaranteed to be 100%
entropic, unlike RDRAND which is only architecturally guaranteed to be
1/512 entropic (although in practice is much more.)

The RDSEED instruction takes the same time to execute as RDRAND, but
RDSEED unlike RDRAND can legitimately return failure (CF=0) due to
entropy exhaustion if too many threads on too many cores are hammering
the RDSEED instruction at the same time. Therefore, we have to be
more conservative and only use it in places where we can tolerate
failures.

This patch introduces the primitives arch_get_random_seed_{int,long}()
but does not use it yet.

28a3ded1d6 powerpc/booke64: Remove ints from EXCEPTION_COMMON
The ints parameter was used to optionally insert RECONCILE_IRQ_STATE

opposed to being called separately by the caller of EXCEPTION_COMMON.

The ints parameter was causing some hassle when trying to add an extra
macro layer. Besides avoiding that, moving "ints" to the caller makes
the code simpler by:
 - avoiding the asymmetry where INTS_RESTORE_HARD is called separately
by the individual exception, but INTS_DISABLE was not
 - removing the no-op INTS_KEEP
 - not having an unnecessary macro parameter

It also turned out to be necessary to delay the INTS_DISABLE
in the case of special level exceptions until after we saved the
old value of PACAIRQHAPPENED.

9d378dfac8 powerpc/booke64: Use SPRG7 for VDSO

In commit 8b64a9dfb0 ("powerpc/booke64:
Use SPRG0/3 scratch for bolted TLB miss & crit int"), Mihai Caraman
made an attempt to resolve this conflict by restoring the VDSO value
early in the critical interrupt, but this has some issues:

 - It's incompatible with EXCEPTION_COMMON which restores r13 from the
by-then-overwritten scratch (this cost me some debugging time).
 - It forces critical exceptions to be a special case handled
differently from even machine check and debug level exceptions.
 - It didn't occur to me that it was possible to make this work at all
(by doing a final "ld r13, PACA_EXCRIT+EX_R13(r13)") until after
I made (most of) this patch. :-)

It might be worth investigating using a load rather than SPRG on return
from all exceptions (except TLB misses where the scratch never leaves
the SPRG) -- it could save a few cycles. Until then, let's stick with
SPRG for all exceptions.

Since we cannot use SPRG4-7 for scratch without corrupting the state of
a KVM guest, move VDSO to SPRG7 on book3e. Since neither SPRG4-7 nor
critical interrupts exist on book3s, SPRG3 is still used for VDSO
there.

c4787d1ecf powerpc/booke64: Fix exception numbers
altivec_unavailable was commented as 0xf20 but the code uses 0x200.
Note that 0xf20 is also used by ap_unavailable.

altivec_assist was commented as 0x1700 but the code uses 0x220.

critical_input was commented as 0x580 but the code uses 0x100.

machine_check was commented and implemented as 0x200, which conflicts
with altivec_assist (it only builds because MC_EXCEPTION_PROLOG is
commented out). Changed to the fixed IVOR value of 0x000.

Commit 595e4f7e69 ("KVM: PPC: Book3S HV: Use load/store_fp_state
functions in HV guest entry/exit") changed the register usage in
kvmppc_save_fp() and kvmppc_load_fp() but omitted changing the
instructions that load and save VRSAVE. The result is that the
VRSAVE value was loaded from a constant address, and saved to a
location past the end of the vcpu struct, causing host kernel
memory corruption and various kinds of host kernel crashes.

This fixes the problem by using register r31, which contains the
vcpu pointer, instead of r3 and r4.

75b57ecf9d of: Make device nodes kobjects so they show up in sysfs
Device tree nodes are already treated as objects, and we already want to
expose them to userspace which is done using the /proc filesystem today.
Right now the kernel has to do a lot of work to keep the /proc view in
sync with the in-kernel representation. If device_nodes are switched to
be kobjects then the device tree code can be a whole lot simpler. It
also turns out that switching to using /sysfs from /proc results in
smaller code and data size, and the userspace ABI won't change if
/proc/device-tree symlinks to /sys/firmware/devicetree/base.

e97ca8e5b8 mm: fix GFP_THISNODE callers and clarify
GFP_THISNODE is for callers that implement their own clever fallback to
remote nodes. It restricts the allocation to the specified node and
does not invoke reclaim, assuming that the caller will take care of it
when the fallback fails, e.g. through a subsequent allocation request
without GFP_THISNODE set.

However, many current GFP_THISNODE users only want the node exclusive
aspect of the flag, without actually implementing their own fallback or
triggering reclaim if necessary. This results in things like page
migration failing prematurely even when there is easily reclaimable
memory available, unless kswapd happens to be running already or a
concurrent allocation attempt triggers the necessary reclaim.

Convert all callsites that don't implement their own fallback strategy
to __GFP_THISNODE. This restricts the allocation a single node too, but
at the same time allows the allocator to enter the slowpath, wake
kswapd, and invoke direct reclaim if necessary, to make the allocation
happen when memory is full.

No architecture uses the "data" parameter in ftrace_dyn_arch_init() in any

Note there is also "return 0" in every ftrace_dyn_arch_init. So it is
enough to check the retval and remove all the indirect sets of data on

c7e64b9ce0 powerpc/powernv Platform dump interface
This enables support for userspace to fetch and initiate FSP and
Platform dumps from the service processor (via firmware) through sysfs.

Based on original patch from Vasant Hegde <hegdevasant@linux.vnet.ibm.com>

Flow:
  - We register for OPAL notification events.
  - OPAL sends new dump available notification.
  - We make information on dump available via sysfs
  - Userspace requests dump contents
  - We retrieve the dump via OPAL interface
  - User copies the dump data
  - userspace sends ack for dump
  - We send ACK to OPAL.

sysfs files:
  - We add the /sys/firmware/opal/dump directory
  - echoing 1 (well, anything, but in future we may support
    different dump types) to /sys/firmware/opal/dump/initiate_dump
    will initiate a dump.
  - Each dump that we've been notified of gets a directory
in /sys/firmware/opal/dump/ with a name of the dump type and ID (in hex,
as this is what's used elsewhere to identify the dump).
  - Each dump has files: id, type, dump and acknowledge
dump is binary and is the dump itself.
echoing 'ack' to acknowledge (currently any string will do) will
acknowledge the dump and it will soon after disappear from sysfs.

OPAL APIs:
  - opal_dump_init()
  - opal_dump_info()
  - opal_dump_read()
  - opal_dump_ack()
  - opal_dump_resend_notification()

Currently we are only ever notified for one dump at a time (until
the user explicitly acks the current dump, then we get a notification
of the next dump), but this kernel code should "just work" when OPAL
starts notifying us of all the dumps present.

774fea1a38 powerpc/powernv: Read OPAL error log and export it through sysfs
Based on a patch by: Mahesh Salgaonkar <mahesh@linux.vnet.ibm.com>

This patch adds support to read error logs from OPAL and export
them to userspace through a sysfs interface.

We export each log entry as a directory in /sys/firmware/opal/elog/

Currently, OPAL will buffer up to 128 error log records, we don't
need to have any knowledge of this limit on the Linux side as that
is actually largely transparent to us.

Each error log entry has the following files: id, type, acknowledge, raw.
Currently we just export the raw binary error log in the 'raw' attribute.
In a future patch, we may parse more of the error log to make it a bit
easier for userspace (e.g. to be able to display a brief summary in
petitboot without having to have a full parser).

If we have >128 logs from OPAL, we'll only be notified of 128 until
userspace starts acknowledging them. This limitation may be lifted in
the future and with this patch, that should "just work" from the linux side.

A userspace daemon should:
- wait for error log entries using normal mechanisms (we announce creation)
- read error log entry
- save error log entry safely to disk
- acknowledge the error log entry
- rinse, repeat.

On the Linux side, we read the error log when we're notified of it. This
possibly isn't ideal as it would be better to only read them on-demand.
However, this doesn't really work with current OPAL interface, so we
read the error log immediately when notified at the moment.

I've tested this pretty extensively and am rather confident that the
linux side of things works rather well. There is currently an issue with
the service processor side of things for >128 error logs though.

9da3489210 powerpc/pseries: Expose in kernel device tree update to drmgr
Traditionally it has been drmgr's responsibilty to update the device tree
through the /proc/ppc64/ofdt interface after a suspend/resume operation.
This patchset however has modified suspend/resume ops to preform an update
entirely in the kernel during the resume. Therefore, a mechanism is required
to expose that information to drmgr.

This patch adds a show function to the "hibernate" attribute that returns 1
if the kernel performs a device tree update after the resume and 0 otherwise.
This allows newer versions of drmgr to avoid doing a second unnecessary
device tree update.
