This could be used to rate limit egress traffic in concert with a qdisc
which supports Earliest Departure Time, such as FQ.
Write access from cg skb progs only with CAP_SYS_ADMIN, since the value
will be used by downstream qdiscs. It might make sense to relax this.
Changes v1 -> v2:
- allow access from cg skb, write only with CAP_SYS_ADMIN

To pick up the changes in:
ad8c0eaa0a ("tty/serial_core: add ISO7816 infrastructure")
That is a change that imply a change to be made in tools/perf/trace/beauty/ioctl.c to
make 'perf trace' ioctl syscall argument beautifier to support these new
commands: TIOCGISO7816 and TIOCSISO7816.
This is not yet done automatically by a script like is done for some
other headers, for instance:
$ tools/perf/trace/beauty/drm_ioctl.sh | head
#ifndef DRM_COMMAND_BASE
#define DRM_COMMAND_BASE 0x40
#endif
static const char *drm_ioctl_cmds[] = {
[0x00] = "VERSION",
[0x01] = "GET_UNIQUE",
[0x02] = "GET_MAGIC",
[0x03] = "IRQ_BUSID",
[0x04] = "GET_MAP",
[0x05] = "GET_CLIENT",
$
So we will need to change tools/perf/trace/beauty/ioctl.c in a follow up
patch until we switch to a generator script.

Commit f6f3bac08f ("tools/bpf: bpftool: add net support")
added certain networking support to bpftool.
The implementation relies on a relatively recent uapi header file
linux/tc_act/tc_bpf.h on the host which contains the marco
definition of TCA_ACT_BPF_ID.
Unfortunately, this is not the case for all distributions.
See the email message below where rhel-7.2 does not have
an up-to-date linux/tc_act/tc_bpf.h.
https://www.mail-archive.com/linux-kernel@vger.kernel.org/msg1799211.html
Further investigation found that linux/pkt_cls.h is also needed for macro
TCA_BPF_TAG.
This patch fixed the issue by copying linux/tc_act/tc_bpf.h
and linux/pkt_cls.h from kernel include/uapi directory to
tools/include/uapi directory so building the bpftool does not depend
on host system for these files.

This is the commit that porting the perf for nds32.
1.Raw event:
The raw events start with 'r'.
Usage:
perf stat -e rXYZ ./app
X: the index of performance counter.
YZ: the index(convert to hexdecimal) of events
Example:
'perf stat -e r101 ./app' means the counter 1 will count the instruction
event.
The index of counter and events can be found in
"Andes System Privilege Architecture Version 3 Manual".
Or you can perform the 'perf list' to find the symbolic name of raw events.
2.Perf mmap2:
Fix unexpected perf mmap2() page fault
When the mmap2() called by perf application,
you will encounter such condition:"failed to write."
With return value -EFAULT
This is due to the page fault caused by "reading" buffer
from the mapped legal address region to write to the descriptor.
The page_fault handler will get a VM_FAULT_SIGBUS return value,
which should not happens here.(Due to this is a read request.)
You can refer to kernel/events/core.c:perf_mmap_fault(...)
If "(vmf->pgoff && (vmf->flags & FAULT_FLAG_WRITE))" is evaluated
as true, you will get VM_FAULT_SIGBUS as return value.
However, this is not an write request. The flags which indicated
why the page fault happens is wrong.
Furthermore, NDS32 SPAv3 is not able to detect it is read or write.
It only know either it is instruction fetch or data access.
Therefore, by removing the wrong flag assignment(actually, the hardware
is not able to show the reason), we can fix this bug.
3.Perf multiple events map to same counter.
When there are multiple events map to the same counter, the counter
counts inaccurately. This is because each counter only counts one event
in the same time.
So when there are multiple events map to same counter, they have to take
turns in each context.
There are two solution:
1. Print the error message when multiple events map to the same counter.
But print the error message would let the program hang in loop. The ltp
(linux test program) would be failed when the program hang in loop.
2. Don't print the error message, the ltp would pass. But the user need to
have the knowledge that don't count the events which map to the same
counter, or the user will get the inaccurate results.
We choose method 2 for the solution

When synthesizing FORK events, we are trying to create thread objects
for the already running tasks on the machine.
Normally, for a kernel FORK event, we want to clone the parent's maps
because that is what the kernel just did.
But when synthesizing, this should not be done. If we do, we end up
with overlapping maps as we process the sythesized MMAP2 events that
get delivered shortly thereafter.
Use the FORK event misc flags in an internal way to signal this
situation, so we can elide the map clone when appropriate.

Pull XArray conversion from Matthew Wilcox:

structure, providing locking as part of the API, specifying GFP flags
at allocation time, eliminating preloading, less re-walking the tree,
more efficient iterations and not exposing RCU-protected pointers to
its users.
This patch set
1. Introduces the XArray implementation
2. Converts the pagecache to use it
3. Converts memremap to use it
The page cache is the most complex and important user of the radix
tree, so converting it was most important. Converting the memremap
code removes the only other user of the multiorder code, which allows
us to remove the radix tree code that supported it.
I have 40+ followup patches to convert many other users of the radix
tree over to the XArray, but I'd like to get this part in first. The
other conversions haven't been in linux-next and aren't suitable for
applying yet, but you can see them in the xarray-conv branch if you're

xa_store() differs from radix_tree_insert() in that it will overwrite an
existing element in the array rather than returning an error. This is
the behaviour which most users want, and those that want more complex
behaviour generally want to use the xas family of routines anyway.
For memory allocation, xa_store() will first attempt to request memory
from the slab allocator; if memory is not immediately available, it will
drop the xa_lock and allocate memory, keeping a pointer in the xa_state.
It does not use the per-CPU cache, although those will continue to exist
until all radix tree users are converted to the xarray.
This patch also includes xa_erase() and __xa_erase() for a streamlined
way to store NULL. Since there is no need to allocate memory in order
to store a NULL in the XArray, we do not need to trouble the user with
deciding what memory allocation flags to use.

XArray marks are like the radix tree tags, only slightly more strongly
typed. They are renamed in order to distinguish them from tagged
pointers. This commit adds the basic get/set/clear operations.

The xa_load function brings with it a lot of infrastructure; xa_empty(),
xa_is_err(), and large chunks of the XArray advanced API that are used
to implement xa_load.
As the test-suite demonstrates, it is possible to use the XArray functions
on a radix tree. The radix tree functions depend on the GFP flags being
stored in the root of the tree, so it's not possible to use the radix
tree functions on an XArray.

Currently, on x86-64, perf uses LFENCE and MFENCE (rmb() and mb(),
respectively) when processing events from the perf ring buffer which
is unnecessarily expensive as we can do more lightweight in particular
given this is critical fast-path in perf.
According to Peter rmb()/mb() were added back then via a94d342b9c
("tools/perf: Add required memory barriers") at a time where kernel
still supported chips that needed it, but nowadays support for these
has been ditched completely, therefore we can fix them up as well.
While for x86-64, replacing rmb() and mb() with smp_*() variants would
result in just a compiler barrier for the former and LOCK + ADD for
the latter (__sync_synchronize() uses slower MFENCE by the way), Peter
suggested we can use smp_{load_acquire,store_release}() instead for
architectures where its implementation doesn't resolve in slower smp_mb().
Thus, e.g. in x86-64 we would be able to avoid CPU barrier entirely due
to TSO. For architectures where the latter needs to use smp_mb() e.g.
on arm, we stick to cheaper smp_rmb() variant for fetching the head.
This work adds helpers ring_buffer_read_head() and ring_buffer_write_tail()
for tools infrastructure that either switches to smp_load_acquire() for
architectures where it is cheaper or uses READ_ONCE() + smp_rmb() barrier
for those where it's not in order to fetch the data_head from the perf
control page, and it uses smp_store_release() to write the data_tail.
Latter is smp_mb() + WRITE_ONCE() combination or a cheaper variant if
architecture allows for it. Those that rely on smp_rmb() and smp_mb() can
further improve performance in a follow up step by implementing the two
under tools/arch/*/include/asm/barrier.h such that they don't have to
fallback to rmb() and mb() in tools/include/asm/barrier.h.
Switch perf to use ring_buffer_read_head() and ring_buffer_write_tail()
so it can make use of the optimizations. Later, we convert libbpf as
well to use the same helpers.
Side note [0]: the topic has been raised of whether one could simply use
the C11 gcc builtins [1] for the smp_load_acquire() and smp_store_release()
instead:
__atomic_load_n(ptr, __ATOMIC_ACQUIRE);
__atomic_store_n(ptr, val, __ATOMIC_RELEASE);
Kernel and (presumably) tooling shipped along with the kernel has a
minimum requirement of being able to build with gcc-4.6 and the latter
does not have C11 builtins. While generally the C11 memory models don't
align with the kernel's, the C11 load-acquire and store-release alone
/could/ suffice, however. Issue is that this is implementation dependent
on how the load-acquire and store-release is done by the compiler and
the mapping of supported compilers must align to be compatible with the
kernel's implementation, and thus needs to be verified/tracked on a
case by case basis whether they match (unless an architecture uses them
also from kernel side). The implementations for smp_load_acquire() and
smp_store_release() in this patch have been adapted from the kernel side
ones to have a concrete and compatible mapping in place.

So that we reduce the difference of tools/include/linux/bitops.h to the
original kernel file, include/linux/bitops.h, trying to remove the need
to define BITS_PER_LONG, to avoid clashes with asm/bitsperlong.h.
And the things removed from tools/include/linux/bitops.h are really in
linux/bits.h, so that we can have a copy and then
tools/perf/check_headers.sh will tell us when new stuff gets added to
linux/bits.h so that we can check if it is useful and if any adjustment
needs to be done to the tools/{include,arch}/ copies.

This patch adds new BPF helper functions, bpf_sk_lookup_tcp() and
bpf_sk_lookup_udp() which allows BPF programs to find out if there is a
socket listening on this host, and returns a socket pointer which the
BPF program can then access to determine, for instance, whether to
forward or drop traffic. bpf_sk_lookup_xxx() may take a reference on the
socket, so when a BPF program makes use of this function, it must
subsequently pass the returned pointer into the newly added sk_release()
to return the reference.
By way of example, the following pseudocode would filter inbound
connections at XDP if there is no corresponding service listening for
the traffic:
struct bpf_sock_tuple tuple;
struct bpf_sock_ops *sk;
populate_tuple(ctx, &tuple); // Extract the 5tuple from the packet
sk = bpf_sk_lookup_tcp(ctx, &tuple, sizeof tuple, netns, 0);
if (!sk) {
// Couldn't find a socket listening for this traffic. Drop.
return TC_ACT_SHOT;
}
bpf_sk_release(sk, 0);
return TC_ACT_OK;

pull-request: bpf-next 2018-09-25
The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net-next* tree.
The main changes are:
1) Allow for RX stack hardening by implementing the kernel's flow
dissector in BPF. Idea was originally presented at netconf 2017 [0].
Quote from merge commit:
[...] Because of the rigorous checks of the BPF verifier, this
provides significant security guarantees. In particular, the BPF
flow dissector cannot get inside of an infinite loop, as with
CVE-2013-4348, because BPF programs are guaranteed to terminate.
It cannot read outside of packet bounds, because all memory accesses
are checked. Also, with BPF the administrator can decide which
protocols to support, reducing potential attack surface. Rarely
encountered protocols can be excluded from dissection and the
program can be updated without kernel recompile or reboot if a
bug is discovered. [...]
Also, a sample flow dissector has been implemented in BPF as part
of this work, from Petar and Willem.

2) Add support for bpftool to list currently active attachment
points of BPF networking programs providing a quick overview
similar to bpftool's perf subcommand, from Yonghong.
3) Fix a verifier pruning instability bug where a union member
from the register state was not cleared properly leading to
branches not being pruned despite them being valid candidates,
from Alexei.
4) Various smaller fast-path optimizations in XDP's map redirect
code, from Jesper.
5) Enable to recognize BPF_MAP_TYPE_REUSEPORT_SOCKARRAY maps
in bpftool, from Roman.
6) Remove a duplicate check in libbpf that probes for function
storage, from Taeung.
7) Fix an issue in test_progs by avoid checking for errno since
on success its value should not be checked, from Mauricio.
8) Fix unused variable warning in bpf_getsockopt() helper when
CONFIG_INET is not configured, from Anders.
9) Fix a compilation failure in the BPF sample code's use of
bpf_flow_keys, from Prashant.
10) Minor cleanups in BPF code, from Yue and Zhong.

pull-request: bpf-next 2018-08-07
The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net-next* tree.
The main changes are:
1) Add cgroup local storage for BPF programs, which provides a fast
accessible memory for storing various per-cgroup data like number
of transmitted packets, etc, from Roman.
2) Support bpf_get_socket_cookie() BPF helper in several more program
types that have a full socket available, from Andrey.
3) Significantly improve the performance of perf events which are
reported from BPF offload. Also convert a couple of BPF AF_XDP
samples overto use libbpf, both from Jakub.
4) seg6local LWT provides the End.DT6 action, which allows to
decapsulate an outer IPv6 header containing a Segment Routing Header.
Adds this action now to the seg6local BPF interface, from Mathieu.
5) Do not mark dst register as unbounded in MOV64 instruction when
both src and dst register are the same, from Arthur.
6) Define u_smp_rmb() and u_smp_wmb() to their respective barrier
instructions on arm64 for the AF_XDP sample code, from Brian.
7) Convert the tcp_client.py and tcp_server.py BPF selftest scripts
over from Python 2 to Python 3, from Jeremy.
8) Enable BTF build flags to the BPF sample code Makefile, from Taeung.
9) Remove an unnecessary rcu_read_lock() in run_lwt_bpf(), from Taehee.
10) Several improvements to the README.rst from the BPF documentation
to make it more consistent with RST format, from Tobin.
11) Replace all occurrences of strerror() by calls to strerror_r()
in libbpf and fix a FORTIFY_SOURCE build error along with it,
from Thomas.
12) Fix a bug in bpftool's get_btf() function to correctly propagate
an error via PTR_ERR(), from Yue.

pull-request: bpf-next 2018-06-05
The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net-next* tree.
The main changes are:
1) Add a new BPF hook for sendmsg similar to existing hooks for bind and
connect: "This allows to override source IP (including the case when it's
set via cmsg(3)) and destination IP:port for unconnected UDP (slow path).
TCP and connected UDP (fast path) are not affected. This makes UDP support
complete, that is, connected UDP is handled by connect hooks, unconnected
by sendmsg ones.", from Andrey.
2) Rework of the AF_XDP API to allow extending it in future for type writer
model if necessary. In this mode a memory window is passed to hardware
and multiple frames might be filled into that window instead of just one
that is the case in the current fixed frame-size model. With the new
changes made this can be supported without having to add a new descriptor
format. Also, core bits for the zero-copy support for AF_XDP have been
merged as agreed upon, where i40e bits will be routed via Jeff later on.
Various improvements to documentation and sample programs included as
well, all from Björn and Magnus.
3) Given BPF's flexibility, a new program type has been added to implement
infrared decoders. Quote: "The kernel IR decoders support the most
widely used IR protocols, but there are many protocols which are not
supported. [...] There is a 'long tail' of unsupported IR protocols,
for which lircd is need to decode the IR. IR encoding is done in such
a way that some simple circuit can decode it; therefore, BPF is ideal.
[...] user-space can define a decoder in BPF, attach it to the rc
device through the lirc chardev.", from Sean.
4) Several improvements and fixes to BPF core, among others, dumping map
and prog IDs into fdinfo which is a straight forward way to correlate
BPF objects used by applications, removing an indirect call and therefore
retpoline in all map lookup/update/delete calls by invoking the callback
directly for 64 bit archs, adding a new bpf_skb_cgroup_id() BPF helper
for tc BPF programs to have an efficient way of looking up cgroup v2 id
for policy or other use cases. Fixes to make sure we zero tunnel/xfrm
state that hasn't been filled, to allow context access wrt pt_regs in
32 bit archs for tracing, and last but not least various test cases
for fixes that landed in bpf earlier, from Daniel.
5) Get rid of the ndo_xdp_flush API and extend the ndo_xdp_xmit with
a XDP_XMIT_FLUSH flag instead which allows to avoid one indirect
call as flushing is now merged directly into ndo_xdp_xmit(), from Jesper.
6) Add a new bpf_get_current_cgroup_id() helper that can be used in
tracing to retrieve the cgroup id from the current process in order
to allow for e.g. aggregation of container-level events, from Yonghong.
7) Two follow-up fixes for BTF to reject invalid input values and
related to that also two test cases for BPF kselftests, from Martin.
8) Various API improvements to the bpf_fib_lookup() helper, that is,
dropping MPLS bits which are not fully hashed out yet, rejecting
invalid helper flags, returning error for unsupported address
families as well as renaming flowlabel to flowinfo, from David.
9) Various fixes and improvements to sockmap BPF kselftests in particular
in proper error detection and data verification, from Prashant.
10) Two arm32 BPF JIT improvements. One is to fix imm range check with
regards to whether immediate fits into 24 bits, and a naming cleanup
to get functions related to rsh handling consistent to those handling
lsh, from Wang.
11) Two compile warning fixes in BPF, one for BTF and a false positive
to silent gcc in stack_map_get_build_id_offset(), from Arnd.
12) Add missing seg6.h header into tools include infrastructure in order
to fix compilation of BPF kselftests, from Mathieu.
13) Several formatting cleanups in the BPF UAPI helper description that
also fix an error during rst2man compilation, from Quentin.
14) Hide an unused variable in sk_msg_convert_ctx_access() when IPv6 is
not built into the kernel, from Yue.
15) Remove a useless double assignment in dev_map_enqueue(), from Colin.

These are minor edits for the eBPF helpers documentation in
include/uapi/linux/bpf.h.
The main fix consists in removing "BPF_FIB_LOOKUP_", because it ends
with a non-escaped underscore that gets interpreted by rst2man and
produces the following message in the resulting manual page:
DOCUTILS SYSTEM MESSAGES
System Message: ERROR/3 (/tmp/bpf-helpers.rst:, line 1514)
Unknown target name: "bpf_fib_lookup".
Other edits consist in:
- Improving formatting for flag values for "bpf_fib_lookup()" helper.
- Emphasising a parameter name in description of the return value for
"bpf_get_stack()" helper.
- Removing unnecessary blank lines between "Description" and "Return"
sections for the few helpers that would use it, for consistency.

to edit/grow/shrink a SRH and apply on a packet generic SRv6 actions.
7) Sandipan Das adds support for bpf2bpf function calls in ppc64 JIT.

Add a new test for the seg6local End.BPF action. The following helpers
are also tested:
- bpf_lwt_push_encap within the LWT BPF IN hook
- bpf_lwt_seg6_action
- bpf_lwt_seg6_adjust_srh
- bpf_lwt_seg6_store_bytes
A chain of End.BPF actions is built. The SRH is injected through a LWT
BPF IN hook before entering this chain. Each End.BPF action validates
the previous one, otherwise the packet is dropped. The test succeeds
if the last node in the chain receives the packet and the UDP datagram
contained can be retrieved from userspace.

S390 bpf_jit.S is removed in net-next and had changes in 'net',
since that code isn't used any more take the removal.
TLS data structures split the TX and RX components in 'net-next',
put the new struct members from the bug fix in 'net' into the RX
part.
The 'net-next' tree had some reworking of how the ERSPAN code works in
the GRE tunneling code, overlapping with a one-line headroom
calculation fix in 'net'.

for SOCKHASH and one for SOCKMAP.
We then run the entire test suite with each type.

pull-request: bpf-next 2018-04-27
The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net-next* tree.
The main changes are:
1) Add extensive BPF helper description into include/uapi/linux/bpf.h
and a new script bpf_helpers_doc.py which allows for generating a
man page out of it. Thus, every helper in BPF now comes with proper
function signature, detailed description and return code explanation,
from Quentin.
2) Migrate the BPF collect metadata tunnel tests from BPF samples over
to the BPF selftests and further extend them with v6 vxlan, geneve
and ipip tests, simplify the ipip tests, improve documentation and
convert to bpf_ntoh*() / bpf_hton*() api, from William.
3) Currently, helpers that expect ARG_PTR_TO_MAP_{KEY,VALUE} can only
access stack and packet memory. Extend this to allow such helpers
to also use map values, which enabled use cases where value from
a first lookup can be directly used as a key for a second lookup,
from Paul.
4) Add a new helper bpf_skb_get_xfrm_state() for tc BPF programs in
order to retrieve XFRM state information containing SPI, peer
address and reqid values, from Eyal.
5) Various optimizations in nfp driver's BPF JIT in order to turn ADD
and SUB instructions with negative immediate into the opposite
operation with a positive immediate such that nfp can better fit
small immediates into instructions. Savings in instruction count
up to 4% have been observed, from Jakub.
6) Add the BPF prog's gpl_compatible flag to struct bpf_prog_info
and add support for dumping this through bpftool, from Jiri.
7) Move the BPF sockmap samples over into BPF selftests instead since
sockmap was rather a series of tests than sample anyway and this way
this can be run from automated bots, from John.
8) Follow-up fix for bpf_adjust_tail() helper in order to make it work
with generic XDP, from Nikita.
9) Some follow-up cleanups to BTF, namely, removing unused defines from
BTF uapi header and renaming 'name' struct btf_* members into name_off
to make it more clear they are offsets into string section, from Martin.
10) Remove test_sock_addr from TEST_GEN_PROGS in BPF selftests since
not run directly but invoked from test_sock_addr.sh, from Yonghong.
11) Remove redundant ret assignment in sample BPF loader, from Wang.
12) Add couple of missing files to BPF selftest's gitignore, from Anders.
There are two trivial merge conflicts while pulling:
1) Remove samples/sockmap/Makefile since all sockmap tests have been
moved to selftests.
2) Add both hunks from tools/testing/selftests/bpf/.gitignore to the
file since git should ignore all of them.

This adds a new test program test_sockmap which is the old sample
sockmap program. By moving the sample program here we can now run it
as part of the self tests suite. To support this a populate_progs()
routine is added to load programs and maps which was previously done
with load_bpf_file(). This is needed because self test libs do not
provide a similar routine. Also we now use the cgroup_helpers
routines to manage cgroup use instead of manually creating one and
supplying it to the CLI.
Notice we keep the CLI around though because it is useful for dbg
and specialized testing.
To run use ./test_sockmap and the result should be,

PERF_RECORD_SWITCH[_CPU_WIDE] record.
Percentage of preempting and non-preempting context switches help
understanding the nature of workloads (CPU or IO bound) that are running

The event is treated as preemption one when task->state value of the

Our userspace <linux/compiler.h> defines READ_ONCE() in a way that clang
doesn't like, as we have an anonymous union in which neither field is
initialized.
WRITE_ONCE() is fine since it initializes the __val field. For
READ_ONCE() we can keep clang and GCC happy with a dummy initialization
of the __c field, so let's do that.
At the same time, let's split READ_ONCE() and WRITE_ONCE() over several
lines for legibility, as we do in the in-kernel <linux/compiler.h>.

This results in no change in structure size on 64-bit machines as it
fits in the padding between the gfp_t and the void *. 32-bit machines
will grow the structure from 8 to 12 bytes. Almost all radix trees are
protected with (at least) a spinlock, so as they are converted from
radix trees to xarrays, the data structures will shrink again.
Initialising the spinlock requires a name for the benefit of lockdep, so
RADIX_TREE_INIT() now needs to know the name of the radix tree it's
initialising, and so do IDR_INIT() and IDA_INIT().
Also add the xa_lock() and xa_unlock() family of wrappers to make it
easier to use the lock. If we could rely on -fplan9-extensions in the
compiler, we could avoid all of this syntactic sugar, but that wasn't
added until gcc 4.6.

This removes the entire architecture code for blackfin, cris, frv, m32r,
metag, mn10300, score, and tile, including the associated device drivers.
I have been working with the (former) maintainers for each one to ensure
that my interpretation was right and the code is definitely unused in
mainline kernels. Many had fond memories of working on the respective
ports to start with and getting them included in upstream, but also saw
no point in keeping the port alive without any users.
In the end, it seems that while the eight architectures are extremely
different, they all suffered the same fate: There was one company
in charge of an SoC line, a CPU microarchitecture and a software
ecosystem, which was more costly than licensing newer off-the-shelf
CPU cores from a third party (typically ARM, MIPS, or RISC-V). It seems
that all the SoC product lines are still around, but have not used the
custom CPU architectures for several years at this point. In contrast,
CPU instruction sets that remain popular and have actively maintained
kernel ports tend to all be used across multiple licensees.
The removal came out of a discussion that is now documented at
https://lwn.net/Articles/748074/. Unlike the original plans, I'm not
marking any ports as deprecated but remove them all at once after I made
sure that they are all unused. Some architectures (notably tile, mn10300,
and blackfin) are still being shipped in products with old kernels,
but those products will never be updated to newer kernel releases.
After this series, we still have a few architectures without mainline
gcc support:
- unicore32 and hexagon both have very outdated gcc releases, but the
maintainers promised to work on providing something newer. At least
in case of hexagon, this will only be llvm, not gcc.
- openrisc, risc-v and nds32 are still in the process of finishing their
support or getting it added to mainline gcc in the first place.
They all have patched gcc-7.3 ports that work to some degree, but
complete upstream support won't happen before gcc-8.1. Csky posted
their first kernel patch set last week, their situation will be similar.

Add selftest for attach types `BPF_CGROUP_INET4_POST_BIND` and
`BPF_CGROUP_INET6_POST_BIND`.
The main things tested are:
* prog load behaves as expected (valid/invalid accesses in prog);
* prog attach behaves as expected (load- vs attach-time attach types);
* `BPF_CGROUP_INET_SOCK_CREATE` can be attached in a backward compatible
way;
* post-hooks return expected result and errno.
Example:
# ./test_sock

Add selftest to work with bpf_sock_addr context from
`BPF_PROG_TYPE_CGROUP_SOCK_ADDR` programs.
Try to bind(2) on IP:port and apply:
* loads to make sure context can be read correctly, including narrow
loads (byte, half) for IP and full-size loads (word) for all fields;
* stores to those fields allowed by verifier.
All combination from IPv4/IPv6 and TCP/UDP are tested.
Both scenarios are tested:
* valid programs can be loaded and attached;
* invalid programs can be neither loaded nor attached.
Test passes when expected data can be read from context in the
BPF-program, and after the call to bind(2) socket is bound to IP:port
pair that was written by BPF-program to the context.
Example:
# ./test_sock_addr
Attached bind4 program.
Test case #1 (IPv4/TCP):
Requested: bind(192.168.1.254, 4040) ..
Actual: bind(127.0.0.1, 4444)
Test case #2 (IPv4/UDP):
Requested: bind(192.168.1.254, 4040) ..
Actual: bind(127.0.0.1, 4444)
Attached bind6 program.
Test case #3 (IPv6/TCP):
Requested: bind(face:b00c:1234:5678::abcd, 6060) ..
Actual: bind(::1, 6666)
Test case #4 (IPv6/UDP):
Requested: bind(face:b00c:1234:5678::abcd, 6060) ..
Actual: bind(::1, 6666)

Support setting `expected_attach_type` at prog load time in both
`bpf/bpf.h` and `bpf/libbpf.h`.
Since both headers already have API to load programs, new functions are
added not to break backward compatibility for existing ones:
* `bpf_load_program_xattr()` is added to `bpf/bpf.h`;
* `bpf_prog_load_xattr()` is added to `bpf/libbpf.h`.
Both new functions accept structures, `struct bpf_load_program_attr` and
`struct bpf_prog_load_attr` correspondingly, where new fields can be
added in the future w/o changing the API.
Standard `_xattr` suffix is used to name the new API functions.
Since `bpf_load_program_name()` is not used as heavily as
`bpf_load_program()`, it was removed in favor of more generic
`bpf_load_program_xattr()`.

Fun set of conflict resolutions here...
For the mac80211 stuff, these were fortunately just parallel
adds. Trivially resolved.
In drivers/net/phy/phy.c we had a bug fix in 'net' that moved the
function phy_disable_interrupts() earlier in the file, whilst in
'net-next' the phy_error() call from this function was removed.
In net/ipv4/xfrm4_policy.c, David Ahern's changes to remove the
'rt_table_id' member of rtable collided with a bug fix in 'net' that
added a new struct member "rt_mtu_locked" which needs to be copied
over here.
The mlxsw driver conflict consisted of net-next separating
the span code and definitions into separate files, whilst
a 'net' bug fix made some changes to that moved code.
The mlx5 infiniband conflict resolution was quite non-trivial,
the RDMA tree's merge commit was used as a guide here, and
here are their notes:

Due to bug fixes found by the syzkaller bot and taken into the for-rc
branch after development for the 4.17 merge window had already started
being taken into the for-next branch, there were fairly non-trivial
merge issues that would need to be resolved between the for-rc branch
and the for-next branch. This merge resolves those conflicts and
provides a unified base upon which ongoing development for 4.17 can
be based.
Conflicts:
drivers/infiniband/hw/mlx5/main.c - Commit 42cea83f95
(IB/mlx5: Fix cleanup order on unload) added to for-rc and
commit b5ca15ad7e (IB/mlx5: Add proper representors support)
add as part of the devel cycle both needed to modify the
init/de-init functions used by mlx5. To support the new
representors, the new functions added by the cleanup patch
needed to be made non-static, and the init/de-init list
added by the representors patch needed to be modified to
match the init/de-init list changes made by the cleanup
patch.
Updates:
drivers/infiniband/hw/mlx5/mlx5_ib.h - Update function
prototypes added by representors patch to reflect new function
names as changed by cleanup patch
drivers/infiniband/hw/mlx5/ib_rep.c - Update init/de-init
stage list to match new order from cleanup patch

This adds an option to test the msg_pull_data helper. This
uses two options txmsg_start and txmsg_end to let the user
specify start and end bytes to pull.
The options can be used with txmsg_apply, txmsg_cork options
as well as with any of the basic tests, txmsg, txmsg_redir and
txmsg_drop (plus noisy variants) to run pull_data inline with
those tests. By giving user direct control over the variables
we can easily do negative testing as well as positive tests.
