This change complements commit d0da7c002f7b2a93582187a9e3f73891a01d8ee4
and brings clear_ioasic_irq back, renaming it to clear_ioasic_dma_irq at
the same time, to make I/O ASIC DMA interrupts functional.
Unlike ordinary I/O ASIC interrupts DMA interrupts need to be deasserted
by software by writing 0 to the respective bit in I/O ASIC's System
Interrupt Register (SIR), similarly to how CP0.Cause.IP0 and CP0.Cause.IP1
bits are handled in the CPU (the difference is SIR DMA interrupt bits are
R/W0C so there's no need for an RMW cycle). Otherwise the handler is
reentered over and over again.
The only current user is the DEC LANCE Ethernet driver and its extremely
uncommon DMA memory error handler that does not care when exactly the
interrupt is cleared. Anticipating the use of DMA interrupts by the Zilog
SCC driver this change however exports clear_ioasic_dma_irq for device
drivers to choose the right application-specific sequence to clear the
request explicitly rather than calling it implicitly in the .irq_eoi
handler of `struct irq_chip'. Previously these interrupts were cleared in
the .end handler of the said structure, before it was removed.

Intel Wired LAN Driver Updates
This series implements the new i40e driver for Intel's upcoming
Intel(R) Ethernet Controller XL710 Family of devices.
V7: many changes from a few comments:
use linux errno types
change I40E_SUCCESS to 0, standardize returns
change s32 return values to int
use void return values where possible
prefer use of int over i40e_status
V6: rename Kbuild to Makefile
rename i40e_mem[set|cpy] to regular memset/memcpy
V5: remove sysfs support from this set, will rearchitect
changes from community comments
V4: addresses remaining community comments, mostly trivial edits.
major sparse based cleanup of possible endian issues
removal of most of __func__ references
sizeof(*var) instead of sizeof(struct ...)
change 'NULL ==' tests to !NULL
implement xps
use kernel bitshift macros (upper_32_bits, etc)
V3: many more individual comments addressed, thanks reviewers! Many
other changes due to internal review and development.
V2: each patch has individual comments, in general, feedback from the
list was applied and addressed. Many changes due to internal review
and coding as well.
V1: initial send
Let me start by saying thanks and we appreciate any time spent by
those of you who review and comment on this new driver, and we will
attempt to address and respond to all issues brought to our attention.
I tried to break the patches up to ease review, but the series should
apply and still be bisectable, as the last patch adds the driver to
the kernel compile with CONFIG_I40E.
This driver is for a brand new bit of silicon that has a different
design than other Intel Ethernet silicon, and therefore needed a new
driver.
The hardware has quite a bit of capability and this driver is only
meant to provide basic functionality at first. Future patches will
continue to add functionality and bug fixes.
This initial release is very early in the product cycle with the intent
of getting initial support into the kernel before users have the
hardware available to purchase. A software development manual is not
ready yet but will be available when the hardware ships.
The driver development model and interaction with community submitted
patches *will not be any different* than what we are currently doing
today. We plan to continue established processes.
An associated i40evf driver has been posted for review.

During initialization bnx2x allocates significant amounts of memory
(for rx data, rx SGEs, TPA pool) using atomic allocations.
I received a report where bnx2x failed to allocate SGEs and it had
to fall back to TPA-less operation.
Let's use GFP_KERNEL allocations during initialization, which runs
in process context. Add gfp_t parameters to functions that are used
both in initialization and in the receive path.
Use an unlikely branch in bnx2x_frag_alloc() to avoid atomic allocation
by netdev_alloc_frag(). The branch is taken several thousands of times
during initialization, but then never more. Note that fp->rx_frag_size
is never greater than PAGE_SIZE, so __get_free_page() can be used here.

Conflicts:
drivers/net/ethernet/stmicro/stmmac/stmmac_platform.c
net/bridge/br_multicast.c
net/ipv6/sit.c
The conflicts were minor:
1) sit.c changes overlap with change to ip_tunnel_xmit() signature.
2) br_multicast.c had an overlap between computing max_delay using
msecs_to_jiffies and turning MLDV2_MRC() into an inline function
with a name using lowercase instead of uppercase letters.
3) stmmac had two overlapping changes, one which conditionally allocated
and hooked up a dma_cfg based upon the presence of the pbl OF property,
and another one handling store-and-forward DMA made. The latter of
which should not go into the new of_find_property() basic block.

This commit fixes a long-standing bug that has been reported by many
users: on some Armada 370 platforms, only the network interface that
has been used in U-Boot to tftp the kernel works properly in
Linux. The other network interfaces can see a 'link up', but are
unable to transmit data. The reports were generally made on the Armada
370-based Mirabox, but have also been given on the Armada 370-RD
board.
The network MAC in the Armada 370/XP (supported by the mvneta driver
in Linux) has a functionality that allows it to continuously poll the
PHY and directly update the MAC configuration accordingly (speed,
duplex, etc.). The very first versions of the driver submitted for
review were using this hardware mechanism, but due to this, the driver
was not integrated with the kernel phylib. Following reviews, the
driver was changed to use the phylib, and therefore a software based
polling. In software based polling, Linux regularly talks to the PHY
over the MDIO bus, and sees if the link status has changed. If it's
the case then the adjust_link() callback of the driver is called to
update the MAC configuration accordingly.
However, it turns out that the adjust_link() callback was not
configuring the hardware in a completely correct way: while it was
setting the speed and duplex bits correctly, it wasn't telling the
hardware to actually take into account those bits rather than what the
hardware-based PHY polling mechanism has concluded. So, in fact the
adjust_link() callback was basically a no-op.
However, the network happened to be working because on the network
interfaces used by U-Boot for tftp on Armada 370 platforms because the
hardware PHY polling was enabled by the bootloader, and left enabled
by Linux. However, the second network interface not used for tftp (or
both network interfaces if the kernel is loaded from USB, NAND or SD
card) didn't had the hardware PHY polling enabled.
This patch fixes this situation by:
(1) Making sure that the hardware PHY polling is disabled by clearing
the MVNETA_PHY_POLLING_ENABLE bit in the MVNETA_UNIT_CONTROL
register in the driver ->probe() function.
(2) Making sure that the duplex and speed selections made by the
adjust_link() callback are taken into account by clearing the
MVNETA_GMAC_AN_SPEED_EN and MVNETA_GMAC_AN_DUPLEX_EN bits in the
MVNETA_GMAC_AUTONEG_CONFIG register.
This patch has been tested on Armada 370 Mirabox, and now both network
interfaces are usable after boot.

copying large files to a NFS mounted host was taking absurdly large
time.
Turns out that TX BD reclaim had a sublte bug.
Loop starts off from @txbd_dirty cursor and stops when it hits a BD
still in use by controller. However when it stops it needs to keep the
cursor at that very BD to resume scanning in next iteration. However it
was erroneously incrementing the cursor, causing the next scan(s) to
fail too, unless the BD chain was completely drained out.

Since commit 82dc3c63 ("net: introduce NAPI_POLL_WEIGHT")
netif_napi_add() produces an error message if a NAPI poll weight
greater than 64 is requested.
qlcnic requests the weight as large as 256 for some of its rings, and
smaller values for other rings. For instance in qlcnic_82xx_napi_add()
I think the intention was to give the tx+rx ring a bigger weight than
to rx-only rings, but it's actually doing the opposite. So I'm assuming
the weights do not really matter much.
Just use the standard NAPI weights for all rings.

While implementing NAPI for the driver, I overlooked the race conditions where
interrupt handler might have called napi_schedule_prep() before napi_enable()
was called or after napi_disable() was called. If RX interrupt happens, this
would cause the endless interrupts and messages like:
sh-eth eth0: ignoring interrupt, status 0x00040000, mask 0x01ff009f.
The interrupt wouldn't even be masked by the kernel eventually since the handler
would return IRQ_HANDLED all the time.
As a fix, move napi_enable() call before request_irq() call and napi_disable()
call after free_irq() call.

Bug: error to get the previous BD entry. When the current BD
is the first BD, the previous BD entry must be the last BD,
not "bdp - 1" in current logic.
V4:
* Optimize fec_enet_get_nextdesc() for code clean.
Replace "ex_new_bd - ring_size" with "ex_base".
Replace "new_bd - ring_size" with "base".
V3:
* Restore the API name because David suggest to use fec_enet_
prefix for all function in fec driver.
So, change next_bd() -> fec_enet_get_nextdesc()
change pre_bd() -> fec_enet_get_prevdesc()
* Reduce the two APIs parameters for easy to call.
V2:
* Add tx_ring_size and rx_ring_size to struct fec_enet_private.
* Replace api fec_enet_get_nextdesc() with next_bd().
Replace api fec_enet_get_prevdesc() with pre_bd().
* Move all ring size check logic to next_bd() and pre_bd(), which
simplifies the code redundancy.
V1:
* Add BD ring size check to get the previous BD entry in correctly.

Turning off led on port 0 of the 5719 serdes causes all other ports to
lose power and stop functioning. Add tg3_phy_led_bug() function to check
for this condition. We use a switch() in tg3_phy_led_bug() for
consistency with the tg3_phy_power_bug() function.

On a DMA mapping error in xgmac_xmit, we should simply free the skb and

Fix the mismatch in the DMA mapping and unmapping sizes for receive. The
unmap size must be equal to the map size and should not be the actual
received frame length. The map size should also be adjusted by the
NET_IP_ALIGN size since the h/w buffer size (dma_buf_sz) includes this
offset.
Also, add a missing dma_mapping_error check in xgmac_rx_refill.

Fix xgmac_set_rx_mode to handle several conditions that were not handled
correctly as Lennert Buytenhek describes:
If we have, say, 100 unicast addresses, and 5 multicast addresses, the
unicast address count check will evaluate to true, and set use_hash to
true. The multicast address check will however evaluate to false, and
use_hash won't be set to true again, and XGMAC_FRAME_FILTER_HMC won't
be OR'd into XGMAC_FRAME_FILTER, but since use_hash was still true
from the unicast check, netdev_for_each_mc_addr() will program the
multicast addresses into the hash table instead of using the MAC
address registers, but since the HMC bit wasn't set, the hash table
won't be checked for multicast addresses on receive, and we'll stop
receiving multicast packets entirely.
Also, there is no code that zeroes out MAC address registers reg..31
at the end of this function, meaning that under the right conditions,
unicast/multicast addresses that were previously in the filter but
were then deleted won't be cleared out.

Since the xgmac transmit start and completion work locklessly, it is
possible for xgmac_xmit to stop the tx queue after the xgmac_tx_complete

ensuring that ring buffer index updates are visible and recheck the ring
space after stopping the queue. Also fix an off-by-one bug where we need
to stop the queue when the ring buffer space is equal to MAX_SKB_FRAGS.

The TX completion code may have freed an skb before the entire sg list
was transmitted. The DMA unmap calls for the fragments could also get
skipped. Now set the skb pointer on every entry in the ring, not just
the head of the sg list. We then use the FS (first segment) bit in the
descriptors to determine skb head vs. fragment.
This also fixes similar bug in xgmac_free_tx_skbufs where clean-up of

Fix the amount of sent bytes reported to BQL by reporting the
number of bytes on wire in the xmit routine, and recording that
value for each skb in order to be correctly confirmed on Tx
confirmation cleanup.
Reporting skb->len to BQL just before exiting xmit is not correct
due to possible insertions of TOE block and alignment bytes in the
skb->data, which are being stripped off by the controller before
transmission on wire. This led to mismatch of (incorrectly)
reported bytes to BQL b/w xmit and Tx confirmation, resulting in
Tx timeout firing, for the h/w tx timestamping acceleration case.
There's no easy way to obtain the number of bytes on wire in the Tx
confirmation routine, so skb->cb is used to convey that information
from xmit to Tx confirmation, for now (as proposed by Eric). Revived
the currently unused GFAR_CB() construct for that purpose.

This series contains updates to ixgbe.
Jacob provides a fix for 82599 devices where it can potentially keep link
lights up when the adapter has gone down.
Mark provides a fix to resolve the possible use of uninitialized memory
by checking the return value on EEPROM reads.
Don provides 2 patches, one to fix a issue where we were traversing the
Tx ring with the value of IXGBE_NUM_RX_QUEUES which currently happens
to have the correct value but this is misleading. A change later, could
easily make this no longer correct so when traversing the Tx ring, use
netdev->num_tx_queues. His second patch does some minor clean ups of log
messages.
Emil provides the remaining ixgbe patches. First he fixes the link test
where forcing the laser before the link check can lead to inconsistent
results because it does not guarantee that the link will be negotiated
correctly. Then he initializes the message buffer array to 0 in order
to avoid using random numbers from the memory as a MAC address for the
VF. Emil also fixes the read loop for the I2C data to account for the
offset for SFP+ modules. Lastly, Emil provides several patches to add
support for QSFP modules where 1Gbps support is added as well as support
for older QSFP active direct attach cables which pre-date SFF-8436 v3.6.

This adds support for the EF10 network controller architecture and the
SFC9100 family, starting with SFC9120 'Farmingdale', and bumps the
driver version to 4.0.
New features in the SFC9100 family include:
- Flexible allocation of internal resources to PCIe physical and virtual
functions under firmware control
- RX event merging to reduce DMA writes at high packet rates
- Integrated RX timestamping
- PIO buffers for lower TX latency
- Firmware-driven data path that supports additional offload features
and filter types
- Delivery of packets between functions and to multiple recipients,
allowing firmware to implement a vswitch
- Multiple RX flow hash (RSS) contexts with their own hash keys and
indirection tables
- 40G MAC (single port only)
...not all of which are enabled in this initial driver or the initial
firmware release.
Much of the new code is by Jon Cooper.

queues and move the storage queue to its correct place (i.e., the last
queue among the newly supported number).
When changing the pointers of the new location of the FCoE queue, we need
to pay special attention to the aggregations pointer - that memory is allocated
during probe and released upon driver removal. Current implementation has 2

The Huntington MC will reject all MCDI requests after an MC reboot until it sees
one with the NOT_EPOCH flag clear. This flag is set by default for all requests,
and then cleared on the first request after we detect that an MC reboot has
occurred.
The old MCDI_STATUS_DELAY_COUNT gave a timeout of 10ms, which was not long enough
for the driver to detect that a reboot had occurred based on the warm boot count
while calling efx_mcdi_poll_reboot() from the loop in efx_mcdi_ev_death().

Various hardware statistics that are available for Siena are
unavailable or meaningless for Falcon. Huntington adds further to the
NIC-type-specific statistics, as it has different MAC blocks from
Falcon/Siena.
All NIC types still provide most statistics by DMA, and use
little-endian byte order.
Therefore:
1. Add some general utility functions for reporting hardware statistics,
efx_nic_describe_stats() and efx_nic_update_stats().
2. Add an efx_nic_type::describe_stats operation to get the number and
names of statistics, implemented using efx_nic_describe_stats()
3. Change efx_nic_type::update_stats to store the core statistics
(struct rtnl_link_stats64) or full statistics (array of u64) in a
caller-provided buffer. Use efx_nic_update_stats() to aid in the
implementation.
4. Rename struct efx_ethtool_stat to struct efx_sw_stat_desc and
EFX_ETHTOOL_NUM_STATS to EFX_ETHTOOL_SW_STAT_COUNT.
5. Remove efx_nic::mac_stats and struct efx_mac_stats.

Merge the per-NIC-type MTD probe selection and struct efx_mtd_ops into
struct efx_nic_type. Move the implementations into the appropriate

are now implemented in the same file (falcon.c or mcdi.c). There is no
need for them to be extern, or to be defined at all if CONFIG_SFC_MTD

in those files.
Most of the SPI-related definitions are also only used in falcon.c,

Currently we use struct efx_mtd to represent a physical NVRAM device
and struct efx_mtd_partition to represent a partition on that device.
But this only really makes sense for Falcon, as we don't know or care
whether MC-managed NVRAM partitions are on one or more physical
devices. It complicates iteration and provides little benefit.
Therefore:
- Replace the pointer to efx_mtd in mtd_info::priv with a pointer to efx_nic
- Move the falcon_spi_device pointer into the union in struct efx_mtd_partition
- Move the device name to efx_mtd_partition::dev_type_name
- Move the efx_mtd_ops pointer to efx_nic::mtd_ops
- Make efx_nic::mtd_list a list of partitions

On Falcon we implement MAC filtering requested by the stack using the
MAC wrapper's single unicast filter and multicast hash filter. Siena
is very similar, though MAC configuration is mediated by the MC.
Since MCDI operations may sleep, reconfiguration is deferred from
ndo_set_rx_mode to a work item. However, it still updates the private
variables describing the filter state synchronously. Contrary to
comments, the later use of these variables is not protected using the
address lock, resulting in race conditions.
Move the state update to a new function
efx_farch_filter_sync_rx_mode() and make the Falcon-arch MAC
configuration functions call that, so that its use is consistently
serialised by the mac_lock.
Invert and rename the promiscuous flag to the more accurate
unicast_filter, and comment that both this and multicast_hash are
not used on EF10.
Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <bhutchings@solarflare.com>
MAC filters inserted on request from the stack (ndo_set_rx_mode)
should allow manual steering but not removal. Currently we have a
special case for Siena's all-multicast and all-unicast MAC filters,
but on EF10 we need to allow for steering of precise MAC filters as
well.
The EFX_FILTER_FLAG_RX_STACK flag changes the behaviour of replacement
and removal requests:
- Replacement *of* a filter with this flag never clears the flag but
does change steering and saved priority
- Replacement *by* a filter with this flag only sets the flag but does
not change steering
- Removal with priority < EFX_FILTER_PRI_REQUIRED really resets RX
steering and saved priority
This could support precise MAC filtering on Siena in future.
As a side-benefit, the default MAC filters are hidden from ethtool
until they are steered.

Ditch the filter decoding functions as it is now easier to pick apart
the abstract structure.
Rewrite ethtool NFC rule functions to set/get filter match flags and
values directly.

The filter table(s) on EF10 are managed by firmware and will need
almost entirely separate code. Rename the types and functions used
within the existing implementation. The current definition of struct
efx_filter_spec is really implementation-specific, so we need to keep
it. For now, define a separate structure for the internal
representation but leave them identical.

Gotta love a macro that doesn't reduce the typing you have to do.
Also, only the driver core, and one network driver uses this. The
driver core functions will be going away soon, and I'll convert the
network driver soon to not need this as well, so delete it for now
before anyone else gets some bright ideas and wants to use it.

While doing shutdown on the PCI device, the corresponding callback
function e1000e_shutdown() is trying to clear those correctable
errors on the upstream P2P bridge. Unfortunately, we don't have
the upstream P2P bridge under some cases (e.g. PCI-passthrou for
KVM on Power). That leads to kernel crash eventually.
The patch adds one more check on that to avoid kernel crash.

This patch attempts to work around a problem found with some systems where
the call to pci_diable_link_state_locked() fails. As a result, ASPM is not,
in fact, disabled. Changing disable ASPM code to check if state actually
is disabled after the call and, if not, try another way to disable it.
