3498d13b80 TTY merge for 3.7-rc1
As we skipped the merge window for 3.6-rc1 for the tty tree, everything
is now settled down and working properly, so we are ready for 3.7-rc1.
Here's the patchset, it's big, but the large changes are removing a
firmware file and adding a staging tty driver (it depended on the tty
core changes, so it's going through this tree instead of the staging
 tree.)

All of these patches have been in the linux-next tree for a while.

def7cb8cd4 Staging tree update for 3.7-rc1
Here is the big staging tree update for the 3.7-rc1 merge window.

There are a few patches in here that are outside of the staging area,
namely HID and IIO patches, but all of them have been acked by the
relevant subsystem maintainers. The IIO stuff is still coming in
through this tree as it hasn't entirely moved out of the staging tree,
 but is almost there.

Other than that, there wa a ton of work on the comedi drivers to make
them more readable and the correct style. Doing that removed a lot of
code, but we added a new driver to the staging tree, so we didn't end up
with a net reduction this time around:
  662 files changed, 51649 insertions(+), 26582 deletions(-)

All of these patches have been in the linux-next tree already.

cbac1a8b89 drivers/misc/lis3lv02d: add generic DT matching code
Adds logic to parse lis3 properties from a device tree node and store them
in a freshly allocated lis3lv02d_platform_data.

Note that the actual match tables are left out here. This part should
happen in the drivers that bind to the individual busses (SPI/I2C/PCI).

Also adds some DT bindinds documentation.

13511def87 regulator: deprecate regulator-compatible DT property
When the bindings for the TPS6586x regulator were being proposed, I
asserted that DT node naming rules for bus child nodes should also be
applied to nodes inside the TPS6586x regulator node itself. In other
words, that each node providing regulator init data should be named
after the type of object it represented ("regulator") and hence that
some other property was required to indicate which regulator the node
described ("regulator-compatible"). In turn this led to multiple nodes
having the same name, thus requiring node names to use a unit address
to make them unique, thus requiring reg properties within the nodes and

However, subsequent discussion indicates that the rules I was asserting
only applies to standardized bus nodes, and within a device's own node,
the binding can basically do anything sane that it wants.

Hence, this change deprecates the register-compatible property, and
instead uses node names to replace this functionality. This greatly
simplifies the device tree content, making them smaller and more legible.

The code is changed such that old device trees continue to work.

d6ae0d578d misc/at25, dt: Improve at25 SPI eeprom device tree bindings.
Commit 002176db (misc: at25: Parse dt settings) added device tree
bindings the differ significantly in style from the I2C EEPROM
bindings and don't seem well vetted. Here I deprecate (but still
support) the "at25,*" properties, and add what I hope is a better
alternative. These new bindings also happen to be deployed in the
field and were previously submitted for consideration here:

https://lists.ozlabs.org/pipermail/devicetree-discuss/2012-May/015556.html

The advantages of the new bindings are that they are similar to the
I2C EEPROMs and they don't conflate read-only and the address width
modes in a binary encoded blob.

Fix up mostly trivial conflicts, with the exception of
drivers/usb/host/ehci-omap.c in particular, which had some
re-organization of the reset sequence (commit 1a49e2ac96: "EHCI:
centralize controller initialization") that clashed with commit
2761a63945 ("mfd: USB: Fix the omap-usb EHCI ULPI PHY reset fix
issues").

In particular, commit 2761a63945 moved the usb_add_hcd() to the
*middle* of the reset sequence, which clashes fairly badly with the
reset sequence re-organization (although it could have been done inside
the new omap_ehci_init() function).

I left that part of commit 2761a63945 just undone.

The subsystem has been in development for over half a year now and
many drivers have already been converted. It has been in linux-next
for a couple of weeks and there have been no major issues so I think
it is ready for inclusion in your tree."

Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>:
"Very much Ack on the new subsystem. It uses the interface
declarations as the previously separate pwm drivers, so nothing
changes for now in the drivers using it, although it enables us to
change those more easily in the future if we want to.

This work is also one of the missing pieces that are required to
eventually build ARM kernels for multiple platforms, which is
currently prohibited (amongs other things) by the fact that you cannot
have more than one driver exporting the pwm functions."

4297103560 spi: Updates for 3.6
Since Grant is even more specacularly busy than usual for the time being
I've been collecting SPI patches for him for this release - probably
things will revert back to Grant before the next release. There's
nothing too exciting here, mostly it's simple driver specific stuff:

 - Add spi: to the modaliases of SPI devices to provide namespacing.
 - A driver for AD-FMCOMMS1-EBZ.
 - DT binding for Orion.
 - Fixes and cleanups for i.MX, PL0022, OMAP and bitbang drivers.

There may be a few more fixes I've missed, people keep sending me new

spi: Updates for 3.6

Since Grant is even more specacularly busy than usual for the time being
I've been collecting SPI patches for him for this release - probably
things will revert back to Grant before the next release. There's
nothing too exciting here, mostly it's simple driver specific stuff:

- Add spi: to the modaliases of SPI devices to provide namespacing.
- A driver for AD-FMCOMMS1-EBZ.
- DT binding for Orion.
- Fixes and cleanups for i.MX, PL0022, OMAP and bitbang drivers.

There may be a few more fixes I've missed, people keep sending me new
things.

The most important part of these updates is the IOMMU groups code
enhancement written by Alex Williamson. It abstracts the problem that a
given hardware IOMMU can't isolate any given device from any other
device (e.g. 32 bit PCI devices can't usually be isolated). Devices that
can't be isolated are grouped together. This code is required for the
 upcoming VFIO framework.

Another IOMMU-API change written by be is the introduction of domain
attributes. This makes it easier to handle GART-like IOMMUs with the
IOMMU-API because now the start-address and the size of the domain
 address space can be queried.

Besides that there are a few cleanups and fixes for the NVidia Tegra
IOMMU drivers and the reworked init-code for the AMD IOMMU. The later is
from my patch-set to support interrupt remapping. The rest of this
patch-set requires x86 changes which are not mergabe yet. So full
support for interrupt remapping with AMD IOMMUs will come in a future
 merge window.
