0b8f18e358 cifs: convert cifs_get_inode_info and non-posix readdir to use cifs_iget
cifs: convert cifs_get_inode_info and non-posix readdir to use cifs_iget

Rather than allocating an inode and filling it out, have
cifs_get_inode_info fill out a cifs_fattr and call cifs_iget. This means
a pretty hefty reorganization of cifs_get_inode_info.

For the readdir codepath, add a couple of new functions for filling out
cifs_fattr's from different FindFile response infolevels.

Finally, remove cifs_new_inode since there are no more callers.

cc0bad7552 cifs: add new cifs_iget function and convert unix codepath to use it
cifs: add new cifs_iget function and convert unix codepath to use it

In order to unify some codepaths, introduce a common cifs_fattr struct
for storing inode attributes. The different codepaths (unix, legacy,
normal, etc...) can fill out this struct with inode info. It can then be
passed as an arg to a common set of routines to get and update inodes.

Add a new cifs_iget function that uses iget5_locked to identify inodes.
This will compare inodes based on the uniqueid value in a cifs_fattr
struct.

Rather than filling out an already-created inode, have
cifs_get_inode_info_unix instead fill out cifs_fattr and hand that off
to cifs_iget. cifs_iget can then properly look for hardlinked inodes.

On the readdir side, add a new cifs_readdir_lookup function that spawns
populated dentries. Redefine FILE_UNIX_INFO so that it's basically a
FILE_UNIX_BASIC_INFO that has a few fields wrapped around it. This
allows us to more easily use the same function for filling out the fattr
as the non-readdir codepath.

With this, we should then have proper hardlink detection and can
eventually get rid of some nasty CIFS-specific hacks for handing them.

0f3bc09ee1 cifs: Fix incorrect return code being printed in cFYI messages
FreeXid() along with freeing Xid does add a cifsFYI debug message that
prints rc (return code) as well. In some code paths where we set/return
error code after calling FreeXid(), incorrect error code is being
printed when cifsFYI is enabled.

This could be misleading in few cases. For eg.
In cifs_open() if cifs_fill_filedata() returns a valid pointer to
cifsFileInfo, FreeXid() prints rc=-13 whereas 0 is actually being
returned. Fix this by setting rc before calling FreeXid().

Basically convert

FreeXid(xid);			rc = -ERR;
return -ERR;		=>	FreeXid(xid);
				return rc;

[Note that Christoph would like to replace the GetXid/FreeXid
calls, which are primarily used for debugging. This seems
like a good longer term goal, but although there is an
alternative tracing facility, there are no examples yet
available that I know of that we can use (yet) to
convert this cifs function entry/exit logging, and for
creating an identifier that we can use to correlate
all dmesg log entries for a particular vfs operation
(ie identify all log entries for a particular vfs
request to cifs: e.g. a particular close or read or write
or byte range lock call ... and just using the thread id
is harder). Eventually when a replacement
for this is available (e.g. when NFS switches over and various
samples to look at in other file systems) we can remove the
GetXid/FreeXid macro but in the meantime multiple people
use this run time configurable logging all the time
for debugging, and Suresh's patch fixes a problem
which made it harder to notice some low
memory problems in the log so it is worthwhile
to fix this problem until a better logging
approach is able to be used]

4ae1507f6d cifs: make overriding of ownership conditional on new mount options
We have a bit of a problem with the uid= option. The basic issue is that
it means too many things and has too many side-effects.

It's possible to allow an unprivileged user to mount a filesystem if the
user owns the mountpoint, /bin/mount is setuid root, and the mount is
set up in /etc/fstab with the "user" option.

When doing this though, /bin/mount automatically adds the "uid=" and
"gid=" options to the share. This is fortunate since the correct uid=
option is needed in order to tell the upcall what user's credcache to
use when generating the SPNEGO blob.

On a mount without unix extensions this is fine -- you generally will
want the files to be owned by the "owner" of the mount. The problem
comes in on a mount with unix extensions. With those enabled, the
uid/gid options cause the ownership of files to be overriden even though
the server is sending along the ownership info.

This means that it's not possible to have a mount by an unprivileged
user that shows the server's file ownership info. The result is also
inode permissions that have no reflection at all on the server. You
simply cannot separate ownership from the mode in this fashion.

This behavior also makes MultiuserMount option less usable. Once you
pass in the uid= option for a mount, then you can't use unix ownership
info and allow someone to share the mount.

While I'm not thrilled with it, the only solution I can see is to stop
making uid=/gid= force the overriding of ownership on mounts, and to add
new mount options that turn this behavior on.

idea where the magic 35 character limit came from, but it's clearly not
enough for IPv6. Fix it by making it use the INET6_ADDRSTRLEN #define.

While we're at it, use the same #define for the address length in SPNEGO
upcalls.

f55ed1a83d cifs: tighten up default file_mode/dir_mode
The current default file mode is 02767 and dir mode is 0777. This is
extremely "loose". Given that CIFS is a single-user protocol, these
permissions allow anyone to use the mount -- in effect, giving anyone on
the machine access to the credentials used to mount the share.

Change this by making the default permissions restrict write access to
the default owner of the mount. Give read and execute permissions to
everyone else. These are the same permissions that VFAT mounts get by
default so there is some precedent here.

Note that this patch also removes the mandatory locking flags from the
default file_mode. After having looked at how these flags are used by
the kernel, I don't think that keeping them as the default offers any
real benefit. That flag combination makes it so that the kernel enforces
mandatory locking.

Since the server is going to do that for us anyway, I don't think we
want the client to enforce this by default on applications that just
want advisory locks. Anyone that does want this behavior can always
enable it by setting the file_mode appropriately.

8db14ca125 [CIFS] Avoid open on possible directories since Samba now rejects them
Small change (mostly formatting) to limit lookup based open calls to
file create only.

After discussion yesteday on samba-technical about the posix lookup
regression, and looking at a problem with cifs posix open to one
particular Samba version, Jeff and JRA realized that Samba server's
behavior changed in this area (posix open behavior on files vs.
directories). To make this behavior consistent, JRA just made a
fix to Samba server to alter how it handles open of directories (now
returning the equivalent of EISDIR instead of success). Since we don't
know at lookup time whether the inode is a directory or file (and
thus whether posix open will succeed with most current Samba server),
this change avoids the posix open code on lookup open (just issues
posix open on creates). This gets the semantic benefits we want
(atomicity, posix byte range locks, improved write semantics on newly
created files) and file create still is fast, and we avoid the problem
that Jeff noticed yesterday with "openat" (and some open directory
calls) of non-cached directories to one version of Samba server, and
will work with future Samba versions (which include the fix jra just
pushed into Samba server). I confirmed this approach with jra
yesterday and with Shirish today.

Posix open is only called (at lookup time) for file create now.
For opens (rather than creates), because we do not know if it
is a file or directory yet, and current Samba no longer allows
us to do posix open on dirs, we could end up wasting an open call
on what turns out to be a dir. For file opens, we wait to call posix
open till cifs_open. It could be added here (lookup) in the future
but the performance tradeoff of the extra network request when EISDIR
or EACCES is returned would have to be weighed against the 50%
reduction in network traffic in the other paths.

8b6427a2a8 cifs: fix pointer initialization and checks in cifs_follow_symlink (try #4)
This is the third respin of the patch posted yesterday to fix the error
handling in cifs_follow_symlink. It also includes a fix for a bogus NULL
pointer check in CIFSSMBQueryUnixSymLink that Jeff Moyer spotted.

It's possible for CIFSSMBQueryUnixSymLink to return without setting
target_path to a valid pointer. If that happens then the current value
to which we're initializing this pointer could cause an oops when it's
kfree'd.

This patch is a little more comprehensive than the last patches. It
reorganizes cifs_follow_link a bit for (hopefully) better readability.
It should also eliminate the uneeded allocation of full_path on servers
without unix extensions (assuming they can get to this point anyway, of
which I'm not convinced).

On a side note, I'm not sure I agree with the logic of enabling this
query even when unix extensions are disabled on the client. It seems
like that should disable this as well. But, changing that is outside the
scope of this fix, so I've left it alone for now.

20418acd68 [CIFS] Remove older session setup implementation
Two years ago, when the session setup code in cifs was rewritten and moved
to fs/cifs/sess.c, we were asked to keep the old code for a release or so
(which could be reenabled at runtime) since it was such a large change and
because the asn (SPNEGO) and NTLMSSP code was not rewritten and needed to
be. This was useful to avoid regressions, but is long overdue to be removed.
Now that the Kerberos (asn/spnego) code is working in fs/cifs/sess.c,
and the NTLMSSP code moved (NTLMSSP blob setup be rewritten with the
next patch in this series) quite a bit of dead code from fs/cifs/connect.c
now can be removed.

This old code should have been removed last year, but the earlier krb5
patches did not move/remove the NTLMSSP code which we had asked to
be done first. Since no one else volunteered, I am doing it now.

It is extremely important that we continue to examine the documentation
for this area, to make sure our code continues to be uptodate with
changes since Windows 2003.

27b87fe52b cifs: fix unicode string area word alignment in session setup
The handling of unicode string area alignment is wrong.
decode_unicode_ssetup improperly assumes that it will always be preceded
by a pad byte. This isn't the case if the string area is already
word-aligned.

This problem, combined with the bad buffer sizing for the serverDomain
string can cause memory corruption. The bad alignment can make it so
that the alignment of the characters is off. This can make them
translate to characters that are greater than 2 bytes each. If this
happens we can overflow the allocation.

Fix this by fixing the alignment in CIFS_SessSetup instead so we can
verify it against the head of the response. Also, clean up the
workaround for improperly terminated strings by checking for a
odd-length unicode buffers and then forcibly terminating them.

Finally, resize the buffer for serverDomain. Now that we've fixed
the alignment, it's probably fine, but a malicious server could
overflow it.

A better solution for handling these strings is still needed, but
this should be a suitable bandaid.

fbec9ab952 cifs: vary timeout on writes past EOF based on offset (try #5)
This is the fourth version of this patch:

The first three generated a compiler warning asking for explicit curly
braces.

The first two didn't handle update the size correctly when writes that
didn't start at the eof were done.

The first patch also didn't update the size correctly when it explicitly
set via truncate().

This patch adds code to track the client's current understanding of the
size of the file on the server separate from the i_size, and then to use
this info to semi-intelligently set the timeout for writes past the EOF.

This helps prevent timeouts when trying to write large, sparse files on
windows servers.

Fix this by just going back to flushing all the dirty data on any

carefully to make sure that we don't cause regressions if we have

99b7623380 proc 2/2: remove struct proc_dir_entry::owner
Setting ->owner as done currently (pde->owner = THIS_MODULE) is racy
as correctly noted at bug #12454. Someone can lookup entry with NULL
->owner, thus not pinning enything, and release it later resulting
in module refcount underflow.

We can keep ->owner and supply it at registration time like ->proc_fops
and ->data.

But this leaves ->owner as easy-manipulative field (just one C assignment)
and somebody will forget to unpin previous/pin current module when
switching ->owner. ->proc_fops is declared as "const" which should give
some thoughts.

->read_proc/->write_proc were just fixed to not require ->owner for
protection.

rmmod'ed directories will be empty and return "." and ".." -- no harm.
And directories with tricky enough readdir and lookup shouldn't be modular.
We definitely don't want such modular code.

Removing ->owner will also make PDE smaller.

So, let's nuke it.

Kudos to Jeff Layton for reminding about this, let's say, oversight.

a3ec947c85 vfs: simple_set_mnt() should return void
simple_set_mnt() is defined as returning 'int' but always returns 0.
Callers assume simple_set_mnt() never fails and don't properly cleanup if
it were to _ever_ fail. For instance, get_sb_single() and get_sb_nodev()
should:

        up_write(sb->s_unmount);
        deactivate_super(sb);

if simple_set_mnt() fails.

Since simple_set_mnt() never fails, would be cleaner if it did not
return anything.

64cc2c6369 [CIFS] work around bug in Samba server handling for posix open
Samba server (version 3.3.1 and earlier, and 3.2.8 and earlier) incorrectly

be652445fd [CIFS] Add new nostrictsync cifs mount option to avoid slow SMB flush
If this mount option is set, when an application does an
fsync call then the cifs client does not send an SMB Flush
to the server (to force the server to write all dirty data
for this file immediately to disk), although cifs still sends
all dirty (cached) file data to the server and waits for the
server to respond to the write write. Since SMB Flush can be
very slow, and some servers may be reliable enough (to risk
delaying slightly flushing the data to disk on the server),
turning on this option may be useful to improve performance for
applications that fsync too much, at a small risk of server
crash. If this mount option is not set, by default cifs will
send an SMB flush request (and wait for a response) on every
fsync call.

b298f22355 [CIFS] Send SMB flush in cifs_fsync
In contrast to the now-obsolete smbfs, cifs does not send SMB_COM_FLUSH
in response to an explicit fsync(2) to guarantee that all volatile data
is written to stable storage on the server side, provided the server
honors the request (which, to my knowledge, is true for Windows and
Samba with 'strict sync' enabled).
This patch modifies the cifs_fsync implementation to restore the
fsync-behavior of smbfs by triggering SMB_COM_FLUSH after sending
outstanding data on the client side to the server.

eca6acf915 [CIFS] Fix multiuser mounts so server does not invalidate earlier security contexts
When two different users mount the same Windows 2003 Server share using CIFS,
the first session mounted can be invalidated. Some servers invalidate the first
smb session when a second similar user (e.g. two users who get mapped by server to "guest")
authenticates an smb session from the same client.

By making sure that we set the 2nd and subsequent vc numbers to nonzero values,
this ensures that we will not have this problem.

Fixes Samba bug 6004, problem description follows:
How to reproduce:

- configure an "open share" (full permissions to Guest user) on Windows 2003
Server (I couldn't reproduce the problem with Samba server or Windows older
than 2003)
- mount the share twice with different users who will be authenticated as guest.

c3b2a0c640 [CIFS] improve posix semantics of file create
Samba server added support for a new posix open/create/mkdir operation
a year or so ago, and we added support to cifs for mkdir to use it,
but had not added the corresponding code to file create.

The following patch helps improve the performance of the cifs create
path (to Samba and servers which support the cifs posix protocol
extensions). Using Connectathon basic test1, with 2000 files, the
performance improved about 15%, and also helped reduce network traffic
(17% fewer SMBs sent over the wire) due to saving a network round trip
for the SetPathInfo on every file create.

It should also help the semantics (and probably the performance) of
write (e.g. when posix byte range locks are on the file) on file
handles opened with posix create, and adds support for a few flags
which would have to be ignored otherwise.

0496e02d87 cifs: turn smb_send into a wrapper around smb_sendv
cifs: turn smb_send into a wrapper around smb_sendv

Rename smb_send2 to smb_sendv to make it consistent with kernel naming
conventions for functions that take a vector.

There's no need to have 2 functions to handle sending SMB calls. Turn
smb_send into a wrapper around smb_sendv. This also allows us to
properly mark the socket as needing to be reconnected when there's a
partial send from smb_send.

Also, in practice we always use the address and noblocksnd flag
that's attached to the TCP_Server_Info. There's no need to pass
them in as separate args to smb_sendv.

We used to have rather schizophrenic set of checks for NULL ->i_op even
though it had been eliminated years ago. You'd need to go out of your
way to set it to NULL explicitly _and_ a bunch of code would die on
such inodes anyway. After killing two remaining places that still

54566b2c15 fs: symlink write_begin allocation context fix
With the write_begin/write_end aops, page_symlink was broken because it
could no longer pass a GFP_NOFS type mask into the point where the
allocations happened. They are done in write_begin, which would always
assume that the filesystem can be entered from reclaim. This bug could
cause filesystem deadlocks.

The funny thing with having a gfp_t mask there is that it doesn't really
allow the caller to arbitrarily tinker with the context in which it can be
called. It couldn't ever be GFP_ATOMIC, for example, because it needs to
take the page lock. The only thing any callers care about is __GFP_FS
anyway, so turn that into a single flag.

Add a new flag for write_begin, AOP_FLAG_NOFS. Filesystems can now act on
this flag in their write_begin function. Change __grab_cache_page to
accept a nofs argument as well, to honour that flag (while we're there,
change the name to grab_cache_page_write_begin which is more instructive
and does away with random leading underscores).

This is really a more flexible way to go in the end anyway -- if a
filesystem happens to want any extra allocations aside from the pagecache
ones in ints write_begin function, it may now use GFP_KERNEL (rather than
GFP_NOFS) for common case allocations (eg. ocfs2_alloc_write_ctxt, for a
random example).

double backslash prefix in a couple of places when it tries to use the
path returned by build_path_from_dentry. Fix compose_mount_options to
expect properly formed DFS paths (single backslash at front).

Also clean up error handling in that function. There was a possible
NULL pointer dereference and situations where a partially built option
string would be returned.

Tested against Samba 3.0.28-ish server and Samba 3.3 and Win2k8.

8570552425 cifs: fix wait_for_response to time out sleeping processes correctly
cifs: fix wait_for_response to time out sleeping processes correctly

The current scheme that CIFS uses to sleep and wait for a response is
not quite what we want. After sending a request, wait_for_response puts
the task to sleep with wait_event(). One of the conditions for
wait_event is a timeout (using time_after()).

The problem with this is that there is no guarantee that the process
will ever be woken back up. If the server stops sending data, then
cifs_demultiplex_thread will leave its response queue sleeping.

I think the only thing that saves us here is the fact that
cifs_dnotify_thread periodically (every 15s) wakes up sleeping processes
on all response_q's that have calls in flight. This makes for
unnecessary wakeups of some processes. It also means large variability
in the timeouts since they're all woken up at once.

Instead of this, put the tasks to sleep with wait_event_timeout. This
makes them wake up on their own if they time out. With this change,
cifs_dnotify_thread should no longer be needed.

I've been testing this in conjunction with some other patches that I'm
working on. It doesn't seem to affect performance at all with with heavy
I/O. Identical iozone -ac runs complete in almost exactly the same time
(<1% difference in times).

Thanks to Wasrshi Nimara for initially pointing this out. Wasrshi, it
would be nice to know whether this patch also helps your testcase.

8be0ed44c2 [CIFS] Can not mount with prefixpath if root directory of share is inaccessible
Windows allows you to deny access to the top of a share, but permit access to

(ie mounting \\server\share\directory\subdirectory\etc.) this should have
worked if the user specified a prefixpath which put the root of the mount
at a directory to which he had access, but we still were doing a lookup

the prefixpath subdirectory.

13a6e42af8 [CIFS] add mount option to send mandatory rather than advisory locks
Some applications/subsystems require mandatory byte range locks
(as is used for Windows/DOS/OS2 etc). Sending advisory (posix style)
byte range lock requests (instead of mandatory byte range locks) can
lead to problems for these applications (which expect that other
clients be prevented from writing to portions of the file which
they have locked and are updating). This mount option allows
mounting cifs with the new mount option "forcemand" (or
"forcemandatorylock") in order to have the cifs client use mandatory
byte range locks (ie SMB/CIFS/Windows/NTFS style locks) rather than
posix byte range lock requests, even if the server would support
posix byte range lock requests. This has no effect if the server
does not support the CIFS Unix Extensions (since posix style locks
require support for the CIFS Unix Extensions), but for mounts
to Samba servers this can be helpful for Wine and applications
that require mandatory byte range locks.

a98ee8c1c7 [CIFS] fix regression in cifs_write_begin/cifs_write_end
The conversion to write_begin/write_end interfaces had a bug where we
were passing a bad parameter to cifs_readpage_worker. Rather than
passing the page offset of the start of the write, we needed to pass the
offset of the beginning of the page. This was reliably showing up as
data corruption in the fsx-linux test from LTP.

It also became evident that this code was occasionally doing unnecessary
read calls. Optimize those away by using the PG_checked flag to indicate

b066a48c95 prevent cifs_writepages() from skipping unwritten pages
Fixes a data corruption under heavy stress in which pages could be left
dirty after all open instances of a inode have been closed.

In order to write contiguous pages whenever possible, cifs_writepages()
asks pagevec_lookup_tag() for more pages than it may write at one time.
Normally, it then resets index just past the last page written before calling
pagevec_lookup_tag() again.

If cifs_writepages() can't write the first page returned, it wasn't resetting
index, and the next call to pagevec_lookup_tag() resulted in skipping all of
the pages it previously returned, even though cifs_writepages() did nothing
with them. This can result in data loss when the file descriptor is about
to be closed.

This patch ensures that index gets set back to the next returned page so
that none get skipped.

3ec332ef7a [CIFS] clean up server protocol handling
We're currently declaring both a sockaddr_in and sockaddr6_in on the

we have a sa_family field in the sockaddr anyway.

We may need to revisit this if SCTP is ever implemented, but for now
this will simplify the code.

CIFS over IPv6 also has a number of problems currently. This fixes all
of them that I found. Eventually, it would be nice to move more of the
code to be protocol independent, but this is a start.

3b79521093 [CIFS] Fix cifs reconnection flags
In preparation for Jeff's big umount/mount fixes to remove the possibility of
various races in cifs mount and linked list handling of sessions, sockets and
tree connections, this patch cleans up some repetitive code in cifs_mount,
and addresses a problem with ses->status and tcon->tidStatus in which we
were overloading the "need_reconnect" state with other status in that
field. So the "need_reconnect" flag has been broken out from those
two state fields (need reconnect was not mutually exclusive from some of the
other possible tid and ses states). In addition, a few exit cases in
cifs_mount were cleaned up, and a problem with a tcon flag (for lease support)
was not being set consistently for the 2nd mount of the same share

edf1ae4038 [CIFS] Reduce number of socket retries in large write path
CIFS in some heavy stress conditions cifs could get EAGAIN
repeatedly in smb_send2 which led to repeated retries and eventually
failure of large writes which could lead to data corruption.

There are three changes that were suggested by various network
developers:

1) convert cifs from non-blocking to blocking tcp sendmsg
(we left in the retry on failure)
2) change cifs to not set sendbuf and rcvbuf size for the socket
(let tcp autotune the buffer sizes since that works much better
in the TCP stack now)
3) if we have a partial frame sent in smb_send2, mark the tcp
session as invalid (close the socket and reconnect) so we do
not corrupt the remaining part of the SMB with the beginning
of the next SMB.

This does not appear to hurt performance measurably and has
been run in various scenarios, but it definately removes
a corruption that we were seeing in some high stress
test cases.

f696a3659f [PATCH] move executable checking into ->permission()
For execute permission on a regular files we need to check if file has
any execute bits at all, regardless of capabilites.

This check is normally performed by generic_permission() but was also
added to the case when the filesystem defines its own ->permission()
method. In the latter case the filesystem should be responsible for
performing this check.

Move the check from inode_permission() inside filesystems which are
not calling generic_permission().

Create a helper function execute_ok() that returns true if the inode
is a directory or if any execute bits are present in i_mode.

Also fix up the following code:

 - coda control file is never executable
 - sysctl files are never executable
 - hfs_permission seems broken on MAY_EXEC, remove
 - hfsplus_permission is eqivalent to generic_permission(), remove

4f98a2fee8 vmscan: split LRU lists into anon & file sets
Split the LRU lists in two, one set for pages that are backed by real file
systems ("file") and one for pages that are backed by memory and swap
("anon"). The latter includes tmpfs.

The advantage of doing this is that the VM will not have to scan over lots
of anonymous pages (which we generally do not want to swap out), just to
find the page cache pages that it should evict.

This patch has the infrastructure and a basic policy to balance how much
we scan the anon lists and how much we scan the file lists. The big
policy changes are in separate patches.

469ee614aa [CIFS] eliminate usage of kthread_stop for cifsd
When cifs_demultiplex_thread was converted to a kthread based kernel
thread, great pains were taken to make it so that kthread_stop would be
used to bring it down. This just added unnecessary complexity since we
needed to use a signal anyway to break out of kernel_recvmsg.

Also, cifs_demultiplex_thread does a bit of cleanup as it's exiting, and
we need to be certain that this gets done. It's possible for a kthread
to exit before its main function is ever run if kthread_stop is called
soon after its creation. While I'm not sure that this is a real problem
with cifsd now, it could be at some point in the future if cifs_mount is
ever changed to bring down the thread quickly.

The upshot here is that using kthread_stop to bring down the thread just
adds extra complexity with no real benefit. This patch changes the code
to use the original method to bring down the thread, but still leaves it
so that the thread is actually started with kthread_run.

This seems to fix the deadlock caused by the reproducer in this bug
report:

0752f1522a [CIFS] make sure we have the right resume info before calling CIFSFindNext
When we do a seekdir() or equivalent, we usually end up doing a
FindFirst call and then call FindNext until we get to the offset that we
want. The problem is that when we call FindNext, the code usually
doesn't have the proper info (mostly, the filename of the entry from the
last search) to resume the search.

Add a "last_entry" field to the cifs_search_info that points to the last
entry in the search. We calculate this pointer by using the
LastNameOffset field from the search parms that are returned. We then
use that info to do a cifs_save_resume_key before we call CIFSFindNext.

This patch allows CIFS to reliably pass the "telldir" connectathon test.

aren't handling other errors appropriately though.

Another client could have deleted the file in the meantime and
we get back -ENOENT, for instance. In that case we wouldn't do a
d_drop. Instead of retrying in a separate call, simply goto the
original call and use the error handling from that.

Also, we weren't properly undoing any attribute changes that

Samba seems to return STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND when we try to set

Samba does however seem to respect the CREATE_DELETE_ON_CLOSE bit

so adding it to the open flags should be harmless.

ee2fd967fb [CIFS] fix busy-file renames and refactor cifs_rename logic
Break out the code that does the actual renaming into a separate
function and have cifs_rename call that. That function will attempt a
path based rename first and then do a filehandle based one if it looks
like the source is busy.

The existing logic tried a path based rename first, but if we needed to
remove the destination then it only attempted a filehandle based rename
afterward. Not all servers support renaming by filehandle, so we need to
always attempt path rename first and fall back to filehandle rename if
it doesn't work.

This also fixes renames of open files on windows servers (at least when
the source and destination directories are the same).

a12a1ac7a4 cifs: move rename and delete-on-close logic into helper function
cifs: move rename and delete-on-close logic into helper function

When a file is still open on the server, we attempt to set the
DELETE_ON_CLOSE bit and rename it to a new filename. When the
last opener closes the file, the server should delete it.

This patch moves this mechanism into a helper function and has
the two places in cifs_unlink that do this procedure call it. It
also fixes the open flags to be correct.

2846d38647 cifs: have find_writeable_file prefer filehandles opened by same task
When the CIFS client goes to write out pages, it needs to pick a
filehandle to write to. find_writeable_file however just picks the
first filehandle that it finds. This can cause problems when a lock
is issued against a particular filehandle and we pick a different
filehandle to write to.

This patch tries to avert this situation by having find_writable_file
prefer filehandles that have a pid that matches the current task.
This seems to fix lock test 11 from the connectathon test suite when
run against a windows server.

838726c475 cifs: fix O_APPEND on directio mounts
The direct I/O write codepath for CIFS is done through
cifs_user_write(). That function does not currently call
generic_write_checks() so the file position isn't being properly set
when the file is opened with O_APPEND. It's also not doing the other
"normal" checks that should be done for a write call.

The problem is currently that when you open a file with O_APPEND on a
mount with the directio mount option, the file position is set to the
beginning of the file. This makes any subsequent writes clobber the data
in the file starting at the beginning.

This seems to fix the problem in cursory testing. It is, however
important to note that NFS disallows the combination of
(O_DIRECT|O_APPEND). If my understanding is correct, the concern is
races with multiple clients appending to a file clobbering each others'
data. Since the write model for CIFS and NFS is pretty similar in this
regard, CIFS is probably subject to the same sort of races. What's
unclear to me is why this is a particular problem with O_DIRECT and not
with buffered writes...

Regardless, disallowing O_APPEND on an entire mount is probably not
reasonable, so we'll probably just have to deal with it and reevaluate
this flag combination when we get proper support for O_DIRECT. In the
meantime this patch at least fixes the existing problem.

bcc55c6664 [CIFS] Fix plaintext authentication
The last eight bytes of the password field were not cleared when doing lanman plaintext password authentication. This patch fixes that.

I tested it with Samba by setting password
encryption to no in the server's smb.conf. Other servers also can be
configured to force plaintext authentication. Note that plaintexti
authentication requires setting /proc/fs/cifs/SecurityFlags to 0x30030
on the client (enabling both LANMAN and also plaintext password support).
Also note that LANMAN support (and thus plaintext password support) requires
CONFIG_CIFS_WEAK_PW_HASH to be enabled in menuconfig.

9508991093 [CIFS] cifs_mkdir and cifs_create should respect the setgid bit on parent dir
If a server supports unix extensions but does not support POSIX create
routines, then the client will create a new inode with a standard SMB
mkdir or create/open call and then will set the mode. When it does this,
it does not take the setgid bit on the parent directory into account.

This patch has CIFS flip on the setgid bit when the parent directory has
it. If the share is mounted with "setuids" then also change the group
owner to the gid of the parent.

This patch should apply cleanly on top of the setattr cleanup patches
that I sent a few weeks ago.
