GPIO_SYSFS is a common kernel functionality, not something
that a board specific Kconfig should have to worry about.
In MIOA701, we get a warning about the select when CONFIG_SYSFS
is disabled:
warning: (MACH_MIOA701) selects GPIO_SYSFS which has unmet direct dependencies (GPIOLIB && SYSFS)
This just removes the select and instead enables the symbol in
the defconfig file.

EEPROM_AT24 depends on both I2C and SYSFS. We have in the past
added I2C 'select' statements to avoid build problems with the
first, but we still get a warning because of the second:

omapfb and omapdrm were recently made independent of each other, and
this required Kconfig option changes. This patch changes the
omap2plus_defconfig to enable display similarly as before: omapfb and
panel & encoder drivers as modules.

The Armada 38x based boards use this "PHY" with their xhci usb
controller. It would be also used for Armada 39x and Armada 375 base

The Exynos SoC provides a Security SubSystem block for accelerating some
cryptographic operations. Enable the driver for it - s5p-secss to
utilize the hardware acceleration.
Currently the s5p-secss driver supports AES in CBC and ECB modes.
However on Odroid XU4 (Exynos5422) and Trats2 (Exynos4412) boards this
change introduces one booting error (because of unaligned buffers):

The cbc-aes-s5p properly registers itself and passes self-tests.

Enable the kernel NEON mode and asm/NEON accelerated crypto algorithms
which should bring performance benefits on Exynos SoCs. Enable these as
modules because they are optional, not essential anyhow for platform
booting nor related directly to Exynos Soc. All accelerated algorithms
pass booting self-tests on Odroid XU4 (Exynos5422) and Trats2 (Exynos4412).
Additionally enable cpufreq statistics as they are useful for debugging.

Do not disable branch prediction, as this has a big performance impact.
After re-enabling branch prediction, __loop_delay() runs 16 (Cortex A15)
or 11 (Cortex A9) times faster than before.

With recent omap assembly fixes for CONFIG_DEBUG_RODATA, we can
now use DEBUG_RODATA. Let's enable ARM_KERNMEM_PERMS so that
DEBUG_RODATA gets selected by default. This way we can make sure
any related issues are caught early.
And while testing things on various devices, I noticed we're
missing few loadable modules to make things more usable:
- USB Ethernet for smsc75xx, we only have smsc97xx right now
- Basic USB serial drivers for things like ftdi and pl2303 ports
- Blinking leds with pca963x

and ARMv7 platforms together such that they can all be enabled and

.dwo files. This will generate a smaller vmlinux and
smaller .ko modules, which will be easier to ship on
certain products.
CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO_DWARF4 will generate debug info in
DWARF4 format, which ends up being larger, but
improves the probability of resolving variables in
optmized code.

As the rockchip SPDIF driver landed for 4.4 and the required clock
patches to make it work properly are scheduled for the 4.5 merge window
it seems time to support for audio device found on rockchip boards in
the defconfig as well.

To make multi_v7_defconfig really "multi", let's add virtio drivers
to allow booting a default kernel as a KVM/QEMU guest.
MACH_VIRT is already defined, so we just add VIRTIO_BLK, VIRTIO_NET
and VIRTIO_CONSOLE to actually make this kernel useful in a guest.

device tree version does not support CONFIG_LEDS_VERSATILE.
Instead select CONFIG_LEDS_SYSCON and MFD_SYSCON, so we can
get LEDs support from the same generic driver that drives
most other ARM reference boards.

- parse manually all the arch/arm/mach-pxa/*c files, look for all
platform devices added, and verify they are all in pxa_defconfig
- do the same to ensure all pxa specific drivers (leds, gpio, ...) are
included

Commit 69fb4dcada ("power: Add an axp20x-usb-power driver") introduced a
new driver for the USB power supply used on various Allwinner based SBCs.
However, the driver was not added to multi_v7_defconfig which breaks USB
support for some boards (e.g. LeMaker BananaPi) as the kernel will now
turn off the USB power supply during boot by default if the driver isn't
present. (This was not the case in linux 4.3 or lower where the USB power
was always left on.)
Hence, add the driver to multi_v7_defconfig in order to keep USB support
working on those boards that require it.

This updates the Versatile defconfig to:
- Use NO_HZ_IDLE and HIGH_RES_TIMERS
- Enable the I2C driver
- Enable the SPI driver
- Enable the RTC driver for DS1338 as found on the Versatile
boards
- Compile in the MMCI MMC driver, which is good if you
want to mount a root FS on the MMC card without having
to first load this module from an initramfs
Patch tested on the Versatile AB, QEMU for Versatile AB
and QEMU for Versatile PB.

make savedefconfig", and enable manually the following features:

The rk808 supplies two clock outputs with one going back into the soc as
32kHz supply, supplying some core soc clocks with it. The system can boot
without it being present, but it is needed for example as source clock
for the thermal driver.

The io-domain driver is necessary to notify the soc about voltages changes
happening on supplying regulators. Probably the most important user right
now is the mmc tuning code, where the soc needs to get notified when the
voltage is dropped to the 1.8V point.
As this option is necessary to sucessfully tune UHS cards etc, it should
get built in.

The debug-ll infrastructure can be configured in two ways, either
by selecting a platform specific debug option, or by picking one
of the generic options (8250 or pl01x typically). For compatibility
with multiplatform kernels, we have changed a couple of platforms
to use the former method now when they used to use the latter.
Unfortunately, this broke the defconfigs because now they still
enable CONFIG_DEBUG_LL_UART_PL01X or CONFIG_DEBUG_LL_UART_8250,
and we no longer configure the correct register addresses
automatically.
Embarrassingly, this was only found in linux-next when the
defconfig builds turned up errors for multiple people, and I
had not caught those in my own tests, which were done using
the randconfig fixes patchset on top, and that has a workaround
to avoid a build error when the addresses are not configured.
The error was something like:
.config:2010:warning: symbol value '' invalid for DEBUG_UART_PHYS
.config:2011:warning: symbol value '' invalid for DEBUG_UART_VIRT
This patch avoids the problem by removing the respective
statements from the defconfig files. Any out of tree defconfig
files on the platforms I have changed will have to do the same
change or run into the build error above. Any users that have
a full .config already set the correct DEBUG_UART_PHYS/VIRT
addresses and do not need to change anything.

these platform features are now merged. It enables gpio-keys as this is
used by most boards and enables fhandle and cgroups, so we can boot
systemd.

Arnd lit a fire under me to dust this off and get it merged. So here it
is. The main change from prior version is I merged all the code to a
single file. It's a bigger patch than I'd like, but I don't think trying
to do it in multiple steps is worth it.
This is dependent on some solution for the default platform choice on
!MMU builds (allnoconfig) as it can't be Versatile after this series.
Arnd has some ideas on how to address that.
This is tested under QEMU. Linus previously tested this on actual h/w
and had a problem with the display identification which needs
investigation or agreement to worry about it if and when someone
actually cares.

Enable timestamps for kernel log output to improve debugging.
You can always use "dmesg -t" to strip the timestamps.
Don't specify CONFIG_LOG_BUF_SHIFT=16 while we're at it. There's a
reason the default in Kconfig is higher ;-)

The Honami device does not boot due to the lack of pinctrl support
compiled in with the multi_v7_defconfig. This patch correct this and
enables coincell, sdhci, smsm, smp2p and wcnss_ctrl as well, all found
on a variety of Qualcomm boards.

After all preparation work is done, we can finally move the Kconfig
option for s3c64xx into ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM. This implies allowing
SAMSUNG_ATAGS for multiplatform again, but now disallowing the
ADC driver below it, as that still has dependencies on header files.

NFS client is already enabled (NFS_FS) and by default it enables clients
for version 2 and 3. Enable explicitly the version 4 client to utilize
the newer protocol.
The NFS client is especially useful for testing kernel in automated
environments (network boot with network file system).

Commit be8becb81b ("ARM: sunxi_defconfig: Enable LRADC keys
(KEYBOARD_SUN4I_LRADC)") added CONFIG_KEYBOARD_SUN4I_LRADC=y to
sunxi_defconfig. However, it depends on CONFIG_KEYBOARD which is
explicitly disabled in sunxi_defconfig. Hence, the LRADC keys were
never actually enabled. Remove the line disabling CONFIG_KEYBOARD in
order to really enable KEYBOARD_SUN4I_LRADC.

Commit 3d0b16a66c ("nvmem: sunxi: Move the SID driver to the nvmem
framework") moved the the sunxi SID driver to a new framework, but left
sunxi_defconfig with the deprecated config symbol EEPROM_SUNXI_SID
instead of the new symbol NVMEM_SUNXI_SID. Hence, re-enable the driver
in sunxi_defconfig.

axp20x support has been split into 2 parts, I2C and RSB interface
variants.
Update the MFD_AXP20X symbol for I2C support. Also enable SUNXI_RSB
MFD_AXP20X_RSB to support RSB variants. Build these drivers as
modules.
Keep MFD_AXP20X enabled for now, to ease migration for automated
boot farms while the patches are being merged. This should be
removed in the next release.

The purpose of this patch is to start the process of replacing both
ARCH_SHMOBILE and ARCH_SHMOBILE_MULTI with ARCH_RENESAS.
RENESAS seems to be a more appropriate name than SHMOBILE for the majority
of Renesas 32-bit ARM based SoCs. The name is conveniently also (newer)
ARM64 based SoCs.
This patches only addresses 32-bit ARM based SoCs. Proposed support for
the ARM64 based r8a7795 SoC already uses ARCH_RENESAS which selects
ARCH_SHMOBILE.

A lot of this again is scattered across the various hardware platforms.
multi_v7_defconfig, our "generic" config for most 32-bit platforms has

they need to run on their hardware. Broadcom NSP is also added there,
and the new Atmel SAMA5D2 (added last release). Rockchip also has display
and other devices supported in that config.
In addition to that, the usual small churn of new options being added

Mixer driver is selected by CONFIG_DRM_EXYNOS_HDMI option. Since Exynos5433
HDMI does not require Mixer. There will be separate options to select Mixer
and HDMI. Adding new option to defconfig before Kconfig will allow to keep

The Marvell WiFi-Ex driver tries to load a firmware on probe. So if the
driver is built-in and probed before a firmware is available, this is
not loaded and the chip does not work.
This happens for example if an initramfs isn't used since the driver is
probed before the root filesystem is mounted.
Change the default config since the driver isn't needed for machines to
boot and is more convenient to have it enabled as a module to avoid
requiring an initramfs or to have the firmware built into the kernel.

The simplefb driver allows the kernel to render on a pre-allocated
buffer that's been initialized by firmware before the kernel boots.
This option was enabled to have display working on the Exynos5250
Snow Chromebook by commit da9d0fbf5e ("ARM: exynos: defconfig
update") since proper DRM/KMS support did not exist at that time.
But now that the Exynos DRM driver has support for this hardware,
there is no need to have simplefb enabled. In fact, if a user has
a u-boot that injects the simplefb dev node to the FDT before pass
it to the kernel, display won't be properly initialized and only a
blank screen will be shown since there isn't a proper handoff from
the simplefb driver to the Exynos DRM driver.

Some drivers used on a Marvell Berlin kernel were missing from

Similar to the power management situation on Rockchip boards, there are
two common RTC setups. For boards using the RK808 chip as a PMIC that
chip also serves as the RTC, while boards using the ACT8846 typically use
the Haoyu Microelectronics HYM8563 chip as their RTC.

Rockchip boards seem to have two common regulator setups. Various board
used the Active Semi act8846 often in combination with Silergy syr82x
regulators (e.g. Radxa Rock Pro/Rock 2, Firefly, and Netxeon R89 etc),
while others use regulator part of the Rockchip RK808 chip (e.g. the
various Veyron based chromebooks, Chipspark Popmetal etc)
Enable all these regulators.

CONFIG_VMSPLIT_2G was added to mx5_defconfig by commit 06965c39b4
("ARM i.MX5: update defconfig") to fix an issue where mx53 was not
detecting the full 1GiB memory range.
However, as explained by Russell King [1] the correct fix is to select
CONFIG_HIGHMEM.
imx_v6_v7_deconfig inherited such option from mx5_defconfig.
As imx_v6_v7_deconfig has CONFIG_HIGHMEM=y, we should no longer
select such non-standard CONFIG_VMSPLIT_2G option.

This enables tca6424a GPIO expander driver that in turn enables
TPD12S015 HDMI ESD protection and level shifter on OMAP5 uevm.

As a result of rebuilding the configuration the following symbols are
removed:
- EXT4_FS: ext3 has finally been removed from the kernel. ext4
provides feature parity and can be used to mount ext3 filesystems.
EXT3_FS selects EXT4_FS.
- EXT3_DEFAULTS_TO_ORDERED: Removed as part of the ext3 filesystem
removal.
- IPV6: IPv6 is now built-in by default

One of the lines from PCF857x is connected to the vdd line of MMC1
in DRA74x and DRA72x EVMs and is modelled as a regulator. If PCF857x
is not made as built-in, the regulator_get in omap_hsmmc fails making
it difficult to use MMC1 as rootfs.

With the SA1100 and PXA RTC drivers be mutually exclusive and no
longer sharing hardware, PXA27x/PXA3xx platforms must use the PXA RTC
driver as the SA1100 platform device is no longer registered.
This change should be almost transparent to userspace. Former users of
pxa-rtc should be aware that 2 RTCs will be available on their kernels,
rtc0 being sa1100-rtc and rtc1 being pxa-rtc. Any userspace relying on
the fact that rtc0 was pxa-rtc should be fixed.
As a consequence:
- the first reboot after the switch will have the wrong time,
- on dual boot platform where the other OS programs some logic into the
sa1100 rtc IP, a lack of fix in userspace, ie. a kernel changing
sa1100-rtc thinking it is pxa-rtc could have dire consequence, such
as wiping the other OS data partition.

The likelihood of getting a large number of panel drivers from different
vendors is quite high. Add a prefix to the two existing Samsung panel
drivers to set a guideline for future patch submissions. Using vendor
prefixes consistently should allow a cleaner organization of the tree.

With the latest patches the cpufreq-dt can be used on multiple
Exynos SoCs: 3250, 4210, 4212, 4412 and 5250.
Enable it along with default ondemand governor to conserve the energy,
reduce temperature while maintaining acceptable performance.

The Exynos5420 based Peach Pit and Exynos5800 based Peach Pi Chromebooks
use the Maxim max77802 Power Management IC (PMIC). This PMIC has besides
other devices, a set of regulators that can be controller over I2C.
Commit f3caa529c6 ("ARM: multi_v7_defconfig: Enable max77802 regulator,
rtc and clock drivers") was supposed to enable the config option for the
regulator driver as a module but the final version that landed did not
include this. The commit was modified and the REGULATOR_MAX77802 removed
since it was thought to be useless.
Unfortunately that's not the case for the mentioned reason above so this
patch enables the needed Kconfig option.

Enable sun6i DMA engine, sun6i P2WI, PWM, and crypto engine (Security
System) drivers by default. EXTCON is needed by the updated sun4i USB
PHY driver.
While at it, enable FHANDLE, which is needed by systemd and newer
versions of udev. Also enable CGROUPS for systemd.
And get rid of POWER_RESET, as the sun6i power reset driver has been
removed in favor of proper sun6i watchdog support.

The SIM.ONE has a MMC card connected to the SPI host. This card
usually hosts an EXT4 root file system. Enable these options in
the defconfig so the default ompiled kernel will work
out-of-the-box.

With PATCH_PHYS_TO_VIRT we can support all EP93xx variants
in a single image, so enable all board variants in the defconfig
for simplicity and build coverage.

Now when the Marzen legacy board code is removed also
get rid of the marzen_defconfig file. Existing users
shall move over to shmobile_defconfig.

M25P80 driver provides support for most common SPI NOR devices.
These devices are commonly found on TI EVMs for AM437x and DRA7x
SoCs.
Enable support for this driver in defconfig for omap2plus devices.

More and more boards are moving to have audio support via simple-card.
At the same time enable options needed for most am335x and am43xx board for
audio support: McASP and TLV320AIC3X codecs.
The later two has been selected by the CONFIG_SND_AM33XX_SOC_EVM option, but
the aim is to convert all boards to use simple card.
