Now that we know we always have the dma-noncoherent.h helpers available
if we are on an architecture with support for non-coherent devices,
we can just call them directly, and remove the calls to the dma-direct
routines, including the fact that we call the dma_direct_map_page
routines but ignore the value returned from it. Instead we now have
Xen wrappers for the arch_sync_dma_for_{device,cpu} helpers that call
the special Xen versions of those routines for foreign pages.
Note that the new helpers get the physical address passed in addition
to the dma address to avoid another translation for the local cache
maintainance. The pfn_valid checks remain on the dma address as in
the old code, even if that looks a little funny.

Scrubbing pages on initial balloon down can take some time, especially
in nested virtualization case (nested EPT is slow). When HVM/PVH guest is
started with memory= significantly lower than maxmem=, all the extra
pages will be scrubbed before returning to Xen. But since most of them
weren't used at all at that point, Xen needs to populate them first
(from populate-on-demand pool). In nested virt case (Xen inside KVM)
this slows down the guest boot by 15-30s with just 1.5GB needed to be
returned to Xen.
Add runtime parameter to enable/disable it, to allow initially disabling
scrubbing, then enable it back during boot (for example in initramfs).
Such usage relies on assumption that a) most pages ballooned out during
initial boot weren't used at all, and b) even if they were, very few
secrets are in the guest at that time (before any serious userspace
kicks in).
Convert CONFIG_XEN_SCRUB_PAGES to CONFIG_XEN_SCRUB_PAGES_DEFAULT (also
enabled by default), controlling default value for the new runtime
switch.

Extend grant table module API to allow allocating buffers that can
be used for DMA operations and mapping foreign grant references
on top of those.
The resulting buffer is similar to the one allocated by the balloon
driver in that proper memory reservation is made by

needed).
This is useful for sharing foreign buffers with HW drivers which
cannot work with scattered buffers provided by the balloon driver,

This is the sync up with the canonical definitions of the input,
sound and display protocols in Xen.
Changes to kbdif:
1. Add missing string constants for {feature|request}-raw-pointer
to align with the rest of the interface file.
2. Add new XenStore feature fields, so it is possible to individually
control set of exposed virtual devices for each guest OS:
- set feature-disable-keyboard to 1 if no keyboard device needs
to be created
- set feature-disable-pointer to 1 if no pointer device needs
to be created
3. Move multi-touch device parameters to backend nodes: these are
described as a part of frontend's XenBus configuration nodes
while they belong to backend's configuration. Fix this by moving
the parameters to the proper section.
Unique-id field:
1. Add unique-id XenBus entry for virtual input and display.
2. Change type of unique-id field to string for sndif to align with
display and input protocols.

such resources via the guest P2M.
This patch adds the necessary infrastructure to the privcmd driver and
Xen MMU code to support direct resource mapping.
NOTE: The adjustment in the MMU code is partially cosmetic. Xen will now
allow a PV tools domain to map guest pages either by GFN or MFN, thus
the term 'mfn' has been swapped for 'pfn' in the lower layers of the

2. Some of the request descriptions have "reserved" fields
missed: fixed by adding corresponding entries.
3. Extend the size of the requests and responses to 64 octets.
Bump protocol version to 2.
4. Add explicit back and front synchronization
In order to provide explicit synchronization between backend and

- add new ring buffer for sending asynchronous events from
backend to frontend to report number of bytes played by the
frontend (XENSND_EVT_CUR_POS)
- introduce trigger events for playback control: start/stop/pause/resume
- add "req-" prefix to event-channel and ring-ref to unify naming

5. Add explicit back and front parameter negotiation
In order to provide explicit stream parameter negotiation between
backend and frontend the following changes are introduced in the protocol:
add XENSND_OP_HW_PARAM_QUERY request to read/update
configuration space for the parameters given: request passes
desired parameter's intervals/masks and the response to this request
returns allowed min/max intervals/masks to be used.

Pre-4.17 kernels ignored start_info's rsdp_paddr pointer and instead
relied on finding RSDP in standard location in BIOS RO memory. This
has worked since that's where Xen used to place it.
However, with recent Xen change (commit 4a5733771e6f ("libxl: put RSDP
for PVH guest near 4GB")) it prefers to keep RSDP at a "non-standard"
address. Even though as of commit b17d9d1df3 ("x86/xen: Add pvh
specific rsdp address retrieval function") Linux is able to find RSDP,
for back-compatibility reasons we need to indicate to Xen that we can
handle this, an we do so by setting XENFEAT_linux_rsdp_unrestricted

info page for vcpu 0 and register the page with Xen using the
VCPUOP_register_vcpu_time_memory_area hypercall. This hypercall
will also forcefully update the pvti which will set some of the
necessary flags for vdso. Afterwards we check if it supports the
PVCLOCK_TSC_STABLE_BIT flag which is mandatory for having
vdso/vsyscall support. And if so, it will set the cpu 0 pvti that
will be later on used when mapping the vdso image.
The xen headers are also updated to include the new hypercall for

For instance, steal time of each vcpu is 335 before live migration.

Since runstate times are cumulative and cleared during xen live migration
by xen hypervisor, the idea of this patch is to accumulate runstate times
to global percpu variables before live migration suspend. Once guest VM is
resumed, xen_get_runstate_snapshot_cpu() would always return the sum of new
runstate times and previously accumulated times stored in global percpu
variables.
Comment above HYPERVISOR_suspend() has been removed as it is inaccurate:
the call can return an error code (e.g., possibly -EPERM in the future).
Similar and more severe issue would impact prior linux 4.8-4.10 as
discussed by Michael Las at
https://0xstubs.org/debugging-a-flaky-cpu-steal-time-counter-on-a-paravirtualized-xen-guest,
which would overflow steal time and lead to 100% st usage in top command

Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.
By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.
Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.
How this work was done:
Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
- file had no licensing information it it.
- file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
- file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,
Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.
The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.
The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).
All documentation files were explicitly excluded.
The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.
- when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
COPYING file license applied.
For non */uapi/* files that summary was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 11139
and resulted in the first patch in this series.
If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930
and resulted in the second patch in this series.
- if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
it (per prior point). Results summary:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270
GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17
LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15
GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14
((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5
LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4
LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1
and that resulted in the third patch in this series.
- when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
the concluded license(s).
- when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.
- In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).
- When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
- If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
in time.
In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.
Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.
In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.
Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct
This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.
These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

Pull dma-mapping infrastructure from Christoph Hellwig:
"This is the first pull request for the new dma-mapping subsystem
In this new subsystem we'll try to properly maintain all the generic
code related to dma-mapping, and will further consolidate arch code
into common helpers.
This pull request contains:
- removal of the DMA_ERROR_CODE macro, replacing it with calls to
->mapping_error so that the dma_map_ops instances are more self
contained and can be shared across architectures (me)
- removal of the ->set_dma_mask method, which duplicates the
->dma_capable one in terms of functionality, but requires more
duplicate code.
- various updates for the coherent dma pool and related arm code
(Vladimir)
- various smaller cleanups (me)"

ARM and x86 had duplicated versions of the dma_ops structure, the
only difference is that x86 hasn't wired up the set_dma_mask,
mmap, and get_sgtable ops yet. On x86 all of them are identical
to the generic version, so they aren't needed but harmless.
All the symbols used only for xen_swiotlb_dma_ops can now be marked
static as well.

When Xen restores a PVHVM or PVH guest, its shared_info only holds
up to 32 CPUs. The hypercall VCPUOP_register_vcpu_info allows
us to setup per-page areas for VCPUs. This means we can boot
PVH* guests with more than 32 VCPUs. During restore the per-cpu
structure is allocated freshly by the hypervisor (vcpu_info_mfn is
set to INVALID_MFN) so that the newly restored guest can make a
VCPUOP_register_vcpu_info hypercall.
However, we end up triggering this condition in Xen:
/* Run this command on yourself or on other offline VCPUS. */
if ( (v != current) && !test_bit(_VPF_down, &v->pause_flags) )
which means we are unable to setup the per-cpu VCPU structures
for running VCPUS. The Linux PV code paths makes this work by
iterating over cpu_possible in xen_vcpu_restore() with:
1) is target CPU up (VCPUOP_is_up hypercall?)
2) if yes, then VCPUOP_down to pause it
3) VCPUOP_register_vcpu_info
4) if it was down, then VCPUOP_up to bring it back up
With Xen commit 192df6f9122d ("xen/x86: allow HVM guests to use
hypercalls to bring up vCPUs") this is available for non-PV guests.
As such first check if VCPUOP_is_up is actually possible before
trying this dance.
As most of this dance code is done already in xen_vcpu_restore()
let's make it callable on PV, PVH and PVHVM.

A HVM domian booting generates around 200K (evtchn:qemu-dm xen-dyn)
interrupts,in a short period of time. All these evtchn:qemu-dm are bound
to VCPU 0, until irqbalance sees these IRQ and moves it to a different VCPU.
In one configuration, irqbalance runs every 10 seconds, which means
irqbalance doesn't get to see these burst of interrupts and doesn't
re-balance interrupts most of the time, making all evtchn:qemu-dm to be
processed by VCPU0. This cause VCPU0 to spend most of time processing
hardirq and very little time on softirq. Moreover, if dom0 kernel PREEMPTION
is disabled, VCPU0 never runs watchdog (process context), triggering a
softlockup detection code to panic.
Binding evtchn:qemu-dm to next online VCPU, will spread hardirq
processing evenly across different CPU. Later, irqbalance will try to balance
evtchn:qemu-dm, if required.

commit 815dd18788
Author: Bart Van Assche <bart.vanassche@sandisk.com>
Date: Fri Jan 20 13:04:04 2017 -0800
treewide: Consolidate get_dma_ops() implementations
rearranges get_dma_ops in a way that xen_dma_ops are not returned when
running on Xen anymore, dev->dma_ops is returned instead (see
arch/arm/include/asm/dma-mapping.h:get_arch_dma_ops and
include/linux/dma-mapping.h:get_dma_ops).
Fix the problem by storing dev->dma_ops in dev_archdata, and setting
dev->dma_ops to xen_dma_ops. This way, xen_dma_ops is returned naturally
by get_dma_ops. The Xen code can retrieve the original dev->dma_ops from
dev_archdata when needed. It also allows us to remove __generic_dma_ops
from common headers.

This is the ABI for the two halves of a para-virtualized
display driver.
This protocol aims to provide a unified protocol which fits more
sophisticated use-cases than a framebuffer device can handle. At the
moment basic functionality is supported with the intention to extend:
o multiple dynamically allocated/destroyed framebuffers
o buffers of arbitrary sizes
o better configuration options including multiple display support
Note: existing fbif can be used together with displif running at the
same time, e.g. on Linux one provides framebuffer and another DRM/KMS
Future extensions to the existing protocol may include:
o allow display/connector cloning
o allow allocating objects other than display buffers
o add planes/overlays support
o support scaling
o support rotation
Note, that this protocol doesn't use ring macros for
bi-directional exchange (PV calls/9pfs) bacause:
o it statically defines the use of a single page
for the ring buffer
o it uses direct memory access to ring's contents
w/o memory copying
o re-uses the same idea that kbdif/fbif use
which for this use-case seems to be appropriate
==================================================
Rationale for introducing this protocol instead of
using the existing fbif:
==================================================
1. In/out event sizes
o fbif - 40 octets
o displif - 40 octets
This is only the initial version of the displif protocol
which means that there could be requests which will not fit
(WRT introducing some GPU related functionality
later on). In that case we cannot alter fbif sizes as we need to
be backward compatible an will be forced to handle those
apart of fbif.
2. Shared page
Displif doesn't use anything like struct xenfb_page, but
DEFINE_RING_TYPES(xen_displif, struct xendispl_req, struct
xendispl_resp) which is a better and more common way.
Output events use a shared page which only has in_cons and in_prod
and all the rest is used for incoming events. Here struct xenfb_page
could probably be used as is despite the fact that it only has a half
of a page for incoming events which is only 50 events. (consider
something like 60Hz display)
3. Amount of changes.
fbif only provides XENFB_TYPE_UPDATE and XENFB_TYPE_RESIZE
events, so it looks like it is easier to get fb support into displif
than vice versa. displif at the moment has 6 requests and 1 event,
multiple connector support, etc.

Recently a new dm_op[1] hypercall was added to Xen to provide a mechanism
for restricting device emulators (such as QEMU) to a limited set of
hypervisor operations, and being able to audit those operations in the
kernel of the domain in which they run.
This patch adds IOCTL_PRIVCMD_DM_OP as gateway for __HYPERVISOR_dm_op.
NOTE: There is no requirement for user-space code to bounce data through
locked memory buffers (as with IOCTL_PRIVCMD_HYPERCALL) since
privcmd has enough information to lock the original buffers
directly.

ARM and arm64 Xen ports share a number of headers, leading to
packaging issues when these headers needs to be exported, as it
breaks the reasonable requirement that an architecture port

Fix the issue by moving the 5 header files to include/xen/arm,
and keep local placeholders to include the relevant files.

The mapping function should always return DMA_ERROR_CODE when a mapping has
failed as this is what the DMA API expects when a DMA error has occurred.
The current function for mapping a page in Xen was returning either
DMA_ERROR_CODE or 0 depending on where it failed.
On x86 DMA_ERROR_CODE is 0, but on other architectures such as ARM it is
~0. We need to make sure we return the same error value if either the
mapping failed or the device is not capable of accessing the mapping.
If we are returning DMA_ERROR_CODE as our error value we can drop the
function for checking the error code as the default is to compare the
return value against DMA_ERROR_CODE if no function is defined.

Ever since commit 254d1a3f02 ("xen/pv-on-hvm kexec: shutdown watches
from old kernel") using the INTx interrupt from Xen PCI platform
device for event channel notification would just lockup the guest
during bootup. postcore_initcall now calls xs_reset_watches which
will eventually try to read a value from XenStore and will get stuck
on read_reply at XenBus forever since the platform driver is not
probed yet and its INTx interrupt handler is not registered yet. That
means that the guest can not be notified at this moment of any pending
event channels and none of the per-event handlers will ever be invoked
(including the XenStore one) and the reply will never be picked up by
the kernel.
The exact stack where things get stuck during xenbus_init:
-xenbus_init
-xs_init
-xs_reset_watches
-xenbus_scanf
-xenbus_read
-xs_single
-xs_single
-xs_talkv
Vector callbacks have always been the favourite event notification
mechanism since their introduction in commit 38e20b07ef ("x86/xen:
event channels delivery on HVM.") and the vector callback feature has
always been advertised for quite some time by Xen that's why INTx was
broken for several years now without impacting anyone.
Luckily this also means that event channel notification through INTx
is basically dead-code which can be safely removed without impacting
anybody since it has been effectively disabled for more than 4 years
with nobody complaining about it (at least as far as I'm aware of).
This commit removes event channel notification through Xen PCI
platform device.

The dma-mapping core and the implementations do not change the DMA
attributes passed by pointer. Thus the pointer can point to const data.
However the attributes do not have to be a bitfield. Instead unsigned
long will do fine:
1. This is just simpler. Both in terms of reading the code and setting
attributes. Instead of initializing local attributes on the stack
and passing pointer to it to dma_set_attr(), just set the bits.
2. It brings safeness and checking for const correctness because the
attributes are passed by value.

It may happen that Xen's and Linux's ideas of vCPU id diverge. In
particular, when we crash on a secondary vCPU we may want to do kdump
and unlike plain kexec where we do migrate_to_reboot_cpu() we try
booting on the vCPU which crashed. This doesn't work very well for
PVHVM guests as we have a number of hypercalls where we pass vCPU id
as a parameter. These hypercalls either fail or do something
unexpected.
To solve the issue introduce percpu xen_vcpu_id mapping. ARM and PV
guests get direct mapping for now. Boot CPU for PVHVM guest gets its
id from CPUID. With secondary CPUs it is a bit more
trickier. Currently, we initialize IPI vectors before these CPUs boot
so we can't use CPUID. Use ACPI ids from MADT instead.

Commit 1084b1988d (xen: Add Xen specific
page definition) caused a regression in 4.4.
The xen functions to convert between pages and pfns fail due to an
overflow on systems where a physical address may not fit in an
unsigned long (e.g. x86 32 bit PAE systems). Rework the conversion to
avoid overflow. This should also result in simpler object code.

Provide a RING_COPY_REQUEST() macro to use instead of

Currently there is a number of issues preventing PVHVM Xen guests from
doing successful kexec/kdump:
- Bound event channels.
- Registered vcpu_info.
- PIRQ/emuirq mappings.
- shared_info frame after XENMAPSPACE_shared_info operation.
- Active grant mappings.
Basically, newly booted kernel stumbles upon already set up Xen
interfaces and there is no way to reestablish them. In Xen-4.7 a new
feature called 'soft reset' is coming. A guest performing kexec/kdump
operation is supposed to call SCHEDOP_shutdown hypercall with
SHUTDOWN_soft_reset reason before jumping to new kernel. Hypervisor
(with some help from toolstack) will do full domain cleanup (but
keeping its memory and vCPU contexts intact) returning the guest to
the state it had when it was first booted and thus allowing it to
start over.
Doing SHUTDOWN_soft_reset on Xen hypervisors which don't support it is
probably OK as by default all unknown shutdown reasons cause domain
destroy with a message in toolstack log: 'Unknown shutdown reason code
5. Destroying domain.' which gives a clue to what the problem is and
eliminates false expectations.

Based on include/xen/mm.h [1], Linux is mistakenly using MFN when GFN
is meant, I suspect this is because the first support for Xen was for
PV. This resulted in some misimplementation of helpers on ARM and
confused developers about the expected behavior.
For instance, with pfn_to_mfn, we expect to get an MFN based on the name.
Although, if we look at the implementation on x86, it's returning a GFN.
For clarity and avoid new confusion, replace any reference to mfn with
gfn in any helpers used by PV drivers. The x86 code will still keep some
reference of pfn_to_mfn which may be used by all kind of guests
No changes as been made in the hypercall field, even
though they may be invalid, in order to keep the same as the defintion
in xen repo.
Note that page_to_mfn has been renamed to xen_page_to_gfn to avoid a
name to close to the KVM function gfn_to_page.
Take also the opportunity to simplify simple construction such
as pfn_to_mfn(page_to_pfn(page)) into xen_page_to_gfn. More complex clean up
will come in follow-up patches.

Xen's PV network protocol includes messages to add/remove ethernet
multicast addresses to/from a filter list in the backend. This allows
the frontend to request the backend only forward multicast packets
which are of interest thus preventing unnecessary noise on the shared
ring.
The canonical netif header in git://xenbits.xen.org/xen.git specifies
the message format (two more XEN_NETIF_EXTRA_TYPEs) so the minimal
necessary changes have been pulled into include/xen/interface/io/netif.h.
To prevent the frontend from extending the multicast filter list
arbitrarily a limit (XEN_NETBK_MCAST_MAX) has been set to 64 entries.
This limit is not specified by the protocol and so may change in future.
If the limit is reached then the next XEN_NETIF_EXTRA_TYPE_MCAST_ADD
sent by the frontend will be failed with NETIF_RSP_ERROR.

Currently, the event channel rebind code is gated with the presence of
the vector callback.
The virtual interrupt controller on ARM has the concept of per-CPU
interrupt (PPI) which allow us to support per-VCPU event channel.
Therefore there is no need of vector callback for ARM.
Xen is already using a free PPI to notify the guest VCPU of an event.
Furthermore, the xen code initialization in Linux (see
arch/arm/xen/enlighten.c) is requesting correctly a per-CPU IRQ.
Introduce new helper xen_support_evtchn_rebind to allow architecture

Commit 77e32c89a7 ("clockevents: Manage device's state separately for
the core") decouples clockevent device's modes from states. With this
change when a Xen guest tries to resume, it won't be calling its
set_mode op which needs to be done on each VCPU in order to make the
hypervisor aware that we are in oneshot mode.
This happens because clockevents_tick_resume() (which is an intermediate
step of resuming ticks on a processor) doesn't call clockevents_set_state()
anymore and because during suspend clockevent devices on all VCPUs (except
for the one doing the suspend) are left in ONESHOT state. As result, during
resume the clockevents state machine will assume that device is already
where it should be and doesn't need to be updated.
To avoid this problem we should suspend ticks on all VCPUs during
suspend.

Make the IOCTL_PRIVCMD_MMAPBATCH_V2 (and older V1 version) map
multiple frames at a time rather than one at a time, despite the pages
being non-consecutive GFNs.
xen_remap_foreign_mfn_array() is added which maps an array of GFNs

Since per-frame errors are returned in an array, privcmd must set the

Hypercalls submitted by user space tools via the privcmd driver can
take a long time (potentially many 10s of seconds) if the hypercall
has many sub-operations.
A fully preemptible kernel may deschedule such as task in any upcall
called from a hypercall continuation.
However, in a kernel with voluntary or no preemption, hypercall
continuations in Xen allow event handlers to be run but the task
issuing the hypercall will not be descheduled until the hypercall is
complete and the ioctl returns to user space. These long running
tasks may also trigger the kernel's soft lockup detection.
Add xen_preemptible_hcall_begin() and xen_preemptible_hcall_end() to
bracket hypercalls that may be preempted. Use these in the privcmd
driver.
When returning from an upcall, call xen_maybe_preempt_hcall() which
adds a schedule point if if the current task was within a preemptible
hypercall.
Since _cond_resched() can move the task to a different CPU, clear and
set xen_in_preemptible_hcall around the call.

In an x86 PV guest, get_user_pages_fast() on a userspace address range

Force get_user_pages_fast() to fail on such addresses by marking the PTEs

If Xen has XENFEAT_gnttab_map_avail_bits (available since at least

it needs to be done afterwards. This is both inefficient and racy
(the mapping is visible to the task before we fixup the PTEs), but
will be fine for well-behaved applications that do not use the mapping
until after the mmap() system call returns.
Guests with XENFEAT_auto_translated_physmap (ARM and x86 HVM or PVH)

Introduce gnttab_unmap_refs_async() that can be used to safely unmap
pages that may be in use (ref count > 1). If the pages are in use the
unmap is deferred and retried later. This polling is not very clever
but it should be good enough if the cases where the delay is necessary
are rare.
The initial delay is 5 ms and is increased linearly on each subsequent
retry (to reduce load if the page is in use for a long time).
This is needed to allow block backends using grant mapping to safely
use network storage (block or filesystem based such as iSCSI or NFS).
The network storage driver may complete a block request whilst there
is a queued network packet retry (because the ack from the remote end
races with deciding to queue the retry). The pages for the retried
packet would be grant unmapped and the network driver (or hardware)
would access the unmapped page.
