4a83c26a1d drm/gem: rename GEM CMA helpers to GEM DMA helpers
Rename "GEM CMA" helpers to "GEM DMA" helpers - considering the
hierarchy of APIs (mm/cma -> dma -> gem dma) calling them "GEM
DMA" seems to be more applicable.

Besides that, commit e57924d4ae ("drm/doc: Task to rename CMA helpers")
requests to rename the CMA helpers and implies that people seem to be
confused about the naming.

In order to do this renaming the following script was used:

```
	#!/bin/bash
	DIRS="drivers/gpu include/drm Documentation/gpu"
	REGEX_SYM_UPPER="[0-9A-Z_\-]"
	REGEX_SYM_LOWER="[0-9a-z_\-]"
	REGEX_GREP_UPPER="(${REGEX_SYM_UPPER}*)(GEM)_CMA_(${REGEX_SYM_UPPER}*)"
	REGEX_GREP_LOWER="(${REGEX_SYM_LOWER}*)(gem)_cma_(${REGEX_SYM_LOWER}*)"
	REGEX_SED_UPPER="s/${REGEX_GREP_UPPER}/\1\2_DMA_\3/g"
	REGEX_SED_LOWER="s/${REGEX_GREP_LOWER}/\1\2_dma_\3/g"
	# Find all upper case 'CMA' symbols and replace them with 'DMA'.
	for ff in $(grep -REHl "${REGEX_GREP_UPPER}" $DIRS)
	do
	       sed -i -E "$REGEX_SED_UPPER" $ff
	done
	# Find all lower case 'cma' symbols and replace them with 'dma'.
	for ff in $(grep -REHl "${REGEX_GREP_LOWER}" $DIRS)
	do
	       sed -i -E "$REGEX_SED_LOWER" $ff
	done
	# Replace all occurrences of 'CMA' / 'cma' in comments and
	# documentation files with 'DMA' / 'dma'.
	for ff in $(grep -RiHl " cma " $DIRS)
	do
		sed -i -E "s/ cma / dma /g" $ff
		sed -i -E "s/ CMA / DMA /g" $ff
	done
	# Rename all 'cma_obj's to 'dma_obj'.
	for ff in $(grep -RiHl "cma_obj" $DIRS)
	do
		sed -i -E "s/cma_obj/dma_obj/g" $ff
	done
```

Only a few more manual modifications were needed, e.g. reverting the
following modifications in some DRM Kconfig files

    -       select CMA if HAVE_DMA_CONTIGUOUS
    +       select DMA if HAVE_DMA_CONTIGUOUS

as well as manually picking the occurrences of 'CMA'/'cma' in comments and
documentation which relate to "GEM CMA", but not "FB CMA".

Also drivers/gpu/drm/Makefile was fixed up manually after renaming
drm_gem_cma_helper.c to drm_gem_dma_helper.c.

This patch is compile-time tested building a x86_64 kernel with
`make allyesconfig && make drivers/gpu/drm`.

f818eac130 drm/arm/hdlcd: Simplify IRQ install/uninstall
Since we no longer need to conform to the structure of the various DRM
IRQ callbacks, we can streamline the code by consolidating the piecemeal
functions and passing around our private data structure directly. We're
also a platform device so should never see IRQ_NOTCONNECTED either.

Furthermore we can also get rid of all the unnecesary read-modify-write
operations, since on install we know we cleared the whole interrupt mask
before enabling the debug IRQs, and thus on uninstall we're always
clearing everything as well.

4b760f76dd drm/arm/hdlcd: Take over EFI framebuffer properly
The Arm Juno board EDK2 port has provided an EFI GOP display via HDLCD0
for some time now, which works nicely as an early framebuffer. However,
once the HDLCD driver probes and takes over the hardware, it should
take over the logical framebuffer as well, otherwise the now-defunct GOP
device hangs about and virtual console output inevitably disappears into
the wrong place most of the time.

We'll do this after binding the HDMI encoder, since that's the most
likely thing to fail, and the EFI console is still better than nothing
when that happens. However, the two HDLCD controllers on Juno are
independent, and many users will still be using older firmware without
any display support, so we'll only bother if we find that the HDLCD
we're probing is already enabled. And if it is, then we'll also stop it,
since otherwise the display can end up shifted if it's still scanning
out while the rest of the registers are subsequently reconfigured.

71eba7bd26 drm/arm/hdlcd: Convert to Linux IRQ interfaces
Drop the DRM IRQ midlayer in favor of Linux IRQ interfaces. DRM's
IRQ helpers are mostly useful for UMS drivers. Modern KMS drivers
don't benefit from using it.

DRM IRQ callbacks are now being called directly or inlined.

Calls to platform_get_irq() can fail with a negative errno code.
Abort initialization in this case. The DRM IRQ midlayer does not

70a59dd829 drm/<drivers>: Constify struct drm_driver
Only the following drivers aren't converted:
- amdgpu, because of the driver_feature mangling due to virt support.
  Subsequent patch will address this.
- nouveau, because DRIVER_ATOMIC uapi is still not the default on the
  platforms where it's supported (i.e. again driver_feature mangling)
- vc4, again because of driver_feature mangling
- qxl, because the ioctl table is somewhere else and moving that is
  maybe a bit too much, hence the num_ioctls assignment prevents a
  const driver structure.
- arcpgu, because that is stuck behind a pending tiny-fication series
  from me.
- legacy drivers, because legacy requires non-const drm_driver.

Note that for armada I also went ahead and made the ioctl array const.

Only cc'ing the driver people who've not been converted (everyone else
is way too much).

v2: Fix one misplaced const static, should be static const (0day)

7ce84471e3 drm: convert .debugfs_init() hook to return void.
As a result of commit 987d65d013 (drm: debugfs: make
drm_debugfs_create_files() never fail) and changes to various debugfs
functions in drm/core and across various drivers, there is no need for
the drm_driver.debugfs_init() hook to have a return value. Therefore,
declare it as void.

This also includes refactoring all users of the .debugfs_init() hook to
return void across the subsystem.

v2: include changes to the hook and drivers that use it in one patch to
prevent driver breakage and enable individual successful compilation of

fcd70cd36b drm: Split out drm_probe_helper.h
Having the probe helper stuff (which pretty much everyone needs) in
the drm_crtc_helper.h file (which atomic drivers should never need) is
confusing. Split them out.

To make sure I actually achieved the goal here I went through all
drivers. And indeed, all atomic drivers are now free of
drm_crtc_helper.h includes.

v2: Make it compile. There was so much compile fail on arm drivers
that I figured I'll better not include any of the acks on v1.

v3: Massive rebase because i915 has lost a lot of drmP.h includes, but
not all: Through drm_crtc_helper.h > drm_modeset_helper.h -> drmP.h
there was still one, which this patch largely removes. Which means
rolling out lots more includes all over.

This will also conflict with ongoing drmP.h cleanup by others I
expect.

v3: Rebase on top of atomic bochs.

v4: Review from Laurent for bridge/rcar/omap/shmob/core bits:
- (re)move some of the added includes, use the better include files in
  other places (all suggested from Laurent adopted unchanged).
- sort alphabetically

v5: Actually try to sort them, and while at it, sort all the ones I
touch.

v6: Rebase onto i915 changes.

941e97c124 drm/arm/hdlcd: Use drm_fbdev_generic_setup()
The CMA helper is already using the drm_fb_helper_generic_probe part of
the generic fbdev emulation. This patch makes full use of the generic
fbdev emulation by using its drm_client callbacks. This means that
drm_mode_config_funcs->output_poll_changed and drm_driver->lastclose are
now handled by the emulation code. Additionally fbdev unregister happens
automatically on drm_dev_unregister().

The drm_fbdev_generic_setup() call is put after drm_dev_register() in the
driver. This is done to highlight the fact that fbdev emulation is an
internal client that makes use of the driver, it is not part of the
driver as such. If fbdev setup fails, an error is printed, but the driver
succeeds probing.

86418f90a4 drm: convert drivers to use of_graph_get_remote_node
Convert drivers to use the new of_graph_get_remote_node() helper
instead of parsing the endpoint node and then getting the remote device
node. Now drivers can just specify the device node and which
port/endpoint and get back the connected remote device node. The details
of the graph binding are nicely abstracted into the core OF graph code.

This changes some error messages to debug messages (in the graph core).
Graph connections are often "no connects" depending on the particular
board, so we want to avoid spurious messages. Plus the kernel is not a
DT validator.

e4563f6ba7 drm: Rely on mode_config data for fb_helper initialization
Instead of receiving the num_crts as a parameter, we can read it
directly from the mode_config structure. I audited the drivers that
invoke this helper and I believe all of them initialize the mode_config

I used the following coccinelle hack to make this transformation, except
for the function headers and comment updates. The first and second
rules are split because I couldn't find a way to remove the unused

Fix this by moving the drm_mode_config_cleanup() much later such that it
correctly balances drm_mode_config_init().

90731c24d2 drm/i2c: tda998x: mali-dp: hdlcd: refactor connector registration
Connectors shouldn't be registered until the rest of the whole device
is set up, so that consistent state is presented to userspace.

As such, remove the calls to drm_connector_register() and
drm_connector_unregister() from tda998x, as these are now handled by
drm_dev_(un)register() itself.

To work with this change, the mali-dp and hdlcd bind and unbind
sequences have to be reordered, to ensure that the componentised
encoder/connector is bound before drm_dev_register() registers all
connectors. Similarly, the device must be unregistered before the
component is unbound.

Altogether, this allows other drivers using tda998x to be
de-midlayered, and to have less racy initialisation of their components.

Splitting this commit into three (one per driver) isn't possible without
intermediate breakage, so it is all squashed together here.

a95acec16d drm: hdlcd: Revamp runtime power management
Because the HDLCD driver acts as a component master it can end
up enabling the runtime PM functionality before the encoders
are initialised. This can cause crashes if the component slave
never probes (missing module) or if the PM operations kick in
before the probe finishes.

Move the enabling of the runtime PM after the component master
has finished collecting the slave components and use the DRM
atomic helpers to suspend and resume the device.
