This contains the new HTE subsystem that has been in the works for a couple of months now. The infrastructure provided allows for drivers to register as hardware timestamp providers, while consumers will be able to request events that they are interested in (such as GPIOs and IRQs) to be timestamped by the hardware providers. Note that this currently supports only one provider, but there seems to be enough interest in this functionality and we expect to see more drivers added once this is merged. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQJHBAABCAAxFiEEiOrDCAFJzPfAjcif3SOs138+s6EFAmKZ77ATHHRyZWRpbmdA bnZpZGlhLmNvbQAKCRDdI6zXfz6zoTgVD/4tdJptbwblr8CCP5jklb81quuKBFu4 2VaUpyGo4TDD4g0jchmAkmB0JsjO7mauURZ/vwWUfDx+uvsOJyf79smY/4OvL0v6 MdYFeXb1rqDX8SiZSnpa+PKNI96l9/l1sbkbj1PPIod8hJSgXsASRP4lF21U97ZY QTI7u3kMJsUEvZhbEs9E2TXPAUO4+M8HfogJuEoaVRyHdwVHY1+Z+jlUsVXRd1qU XpIaKKMWF07FWrs2QUAbdqIUc8cITlcP+ExCc35PMwZnemWHnVwvk0mVyC0XD39P PHGlQOR2zTwJmijCwFkKTwuhGufE6bbvKvdns6gyTUlbzpQ4vcjPfVubt9ehX3dp acEJp5WdJFUhFU4dhjsLGVVzwE/L7vsZ3RPPh1j/Hjt0wYPg/EYPLr/wz+0wbIxt z4AtQZBLwrXSxXUuGkzl139kx0lTEtQZvfiziwi8BWrl6aqeBcGSNYHFLs2rDUTh sap+aEYRQ4cGWYfLMhv3yRLkkTlGxDMmEPM9VWGJb96osBcfidvgT+SE5qwoz6yg yJyMWwCrjYvYl+ZHwfKE3pEE4z9mrs7VLgcW9yWOF4UwFLuH0DyIEtCx/I4Uk+QG 7F1HuV3mYZNlOwgJMZooSJ5Z9uzrn+eGzivhw4klJibFZBXqICCQjL5KvQ8wyuY7 60Ns9+912HV/tQ== =sOJn -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'hte/for-5.19-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tegra/linux Pull hardware timestamping subsystem from Thierry Reding: "This contains the new HTE (hardware timestamping engine) subsystem that has been in the works for a couple of months now. The Linux Kernel documentation
==============================
This is the top level of the kernel's documentation tree. Kernel
documentation, like the kernel itself, is very much a work in progress;
that is especially true as we work to integrate our many scattered
documents into a coherent whole. Please note that improvements to the
documentation are welcome; join the linux-doc list at vger.kernel.org if
you want to help out.

Licensing documentation
-----------------------
The following describes the license of the Linux kernel source code
(GPLv2), how to properly mark the license of individual files in the source
tree, as well as links to the full license text.

User-oriented documentation
---------------------------
The following manuals are written for *users* of the kernel — those who are
trying to get it to work optimally on a given system.

Firmware-related documentation
------------------------------
The following holds information on the kernel's expectations regarding the
platform firmwares.

Application-developer documentation
-----------------------------------
The user-space API manual gathers together documents describing aspects of
the kernel interface as seen by application developers.

Introduction to kernel development
----------------------------------
These manuals contain overall information about how to develop the kernel.
The kernel community is quite large, with thousands of developers
contributing over the course of a year. As with any large community,
knowing how things are done will make the process of getting your changes
merged much easier.

Kernel API documentation
------------------------
These books get into the details of how specific kernel subsystems work
from the point of view of a kernel developer. Much of the information here
is taken directly from the kernel source, with supplemental material added
as needed (or at least as we managed to add it — probably *not* all that is
needed).

There are several unsorted documents that don't seem to fit on other parts

of the documentation body, or may require some adjustments and/or conversion

to ReStructured Text format, or are simply too old.
