Package build environments like Fedora rpmbuild introduced hardening options (e.g. -pie -Wl,-z,now) by passing a -spec option to CFLAGS and LDFLAGS. ynl Makefiles currently override CFLAGS but not LDFLAGS, which leads to a mismatch and build failure: CC sample devlink /usr/bin/ld: devlink.o: relocation R_X86_64_32 against symbol `ynl_devlink_family' can not be used when making a PIE object; recompile with -fPIE /usr/bin/ld: failed to set dynamic section sizes: bad value collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status Extend CFLAGS to support hardening options set by build environment. Linux kernel ============ There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the reStructuredText markup notation. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
