spi: Updates for 3.6
Since Grant is even more specacularly busy than usual for the time being I've been collecting SPI patches for him for this release - probably things will revert back to Grant before the next release. There's nothing too exciting here, mostly it's simple driver specific stuff: - Add spi: to the modaliases of SPI devices to provide namespacing. - A driver for AD-FMCOMMS1-EBZ. - DT binding for Orion. - Fixes and cleanups for i.MX, PL0022, OMAP and bitbang drivers. There may be a few more fixes I've missed, people keep sending me new things. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAABAgAGBQJQD+gTAAoJEBus8iNuMP3diecP/j88CTuSVi2C9LQ6irty2q6y 62eLoR5m5J9zqqRlsFLkerxuanlwyD0WPR4B86SZMr/TQbXkLtmdVyQwSieyMfnN 4HSrFQawCnVANoBrvnKa1vHfP4ouBStXIZa5v/iSAC4tN4K/wVGUvl6Kral5+ktC 5BRwcEdcrVR4KnD74i7ombopM/hl6fRdNS+TwgfXlGwGFHPYbHOa+aJZnGUORWfw 30jrKLap8cTGLDTFQ+Lu8WPzap+RuGlMSWGhXlYrivKNepvpt/WEMhJnfJ/ADLqO ASGe3C69xGTF6YRETSoH5+1VZjRhf+S9y/nV5gkQZKtDDGez5iFmCGZtv/m87u6/ nIuTICa7QjI9bvP9novq0h6EUwURyL4dtdC4VI3IedIpgFiKGxz3J63YJLsIc7tH 5jXPJAkyU/yj23eDywftYZskK3iNYOthB2VO3JPcmGQRXeMWDvTPXXJBcOy5fvW0 aOmE+vXINiQnmddBBNIuhPGRlJUGSpHLaioz+H2+unrNPHjQnv+CSHt7YuYwjTGp IFFwVSUK6r4O+/W7ciKalVQr0bjTM6J3wO0sCqxta1qVoI89RgcM3h3XwXTCb6Ly 0Ywgn+3W71XDiY+L4VvYRTcur2kGB/rmIsIORuqS/FkhR9iuIx7u30d6KmlGR2ak i+cExj0Qo/pF4TXDw22W =I2b9 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'spi-3.6' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/broonie/misc Pull spi updates from Mark Brown: "Since Grant is even more specacularly busy than usual for the time being I've been collecting SPI patches for him for this release - probably things will revert back to Grant before the next release. Driver core merge for 3.6-rc1
Here's the big driver core pull request for 3.6-rc1. Unlike 3.5, this kernel should be a lot tamer, with the printk changes now settled down. Staging tree patches for 3.6-rc1
Here's the big staging tree merge for the 3.6-rc1 merge window. There are some patches in here outside of drivers/staging/, notibly the iio code (which is still stradeling the staging / not staging boundry), the pstore code, and the tracing code. All of these have gotten ackes from the various subsystem maintainers to be included in this tree. The pstore and tracing patches are related, and are coming here as they replace one of the android staging drivers. Otherwise, the normal staging mess. Lots of cleanups and a few new drivers (some iio drivers, and the large csr wireless driver abomination.) Note, you will get a merge issue with the following files: drivers/staging/comedi/drivers/s626.h drivers/staging/gdm72xx/netlink_k.c both of which should be trivial for you to handle. SCSI misc on 20120724
The most important feature of this patch set is the new async infrastructure that makes sure async_synchronize_full() synchronizes all domains and allows us to remove all the hacks (like having scsi_complete_async_scans() in the device base code) and means that the async infrastructure will "just work" in future. IOMMU Updates for Linux v3.6-rc1
The most important part of these updates is the IOMMU groups code enhancement written by Alex Williamson. It abstracts the problem that a given hardware IOMMU can't isolate any given device from any other device (e.g. 32 bit PCI devices can't usually be isolated). Devices that can't be isolated are grouped together. This code is required for the upcoming VFIO framework. Another IOMMU-API change written by be is the introduction of domain attributes. This makes it easier to handle GART-like IOMMUs with the IOMMU-API because now the start-address and the size of the domain address space can be queried. Besides that there are a few cleanups and fixes for the NVidia Tegra IOMMU drivers and the reworked init-code for the AMD IOMMU. The later is from my patch-set to support interrupt remapping. The rest of this patch-set requires x86 changes which are not mergabe yet. So full support for interrupt remapping with AMD IOMMUs will come in a future merge window. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAABAgAGBQJQDV/MAAoJECvwRC2XARrjSDcP+gJbtSHDMyZ71zyfQfAZcxJt rTqLbdZRtIjrjgtKSEDp8u5Bo5TK9dAYoZVuJMOZewFzwI/fSfbRsWp1PU0I88Fr ZzM+/o1N9MLvf1e3kRVOzNzUfku+jTQgUBD4txsbtQzc/IeGHe9qP1Bqzs/xg4Pk SjWu7pLNYxaER10z76nRodNn6zGjsc7GFdOW8cJu2HOAHhisIAR291jSQgd6Rz9r zWqSTsXIEzYt2CtU3G2/tFJ554Mp8v5F80gHo+0Ldw8aNxlD6nGtbqGNt+KI8qTv MUL8KJ0TNms9CZdti1CSlSNp51VgJi2GaWKCaDAkYuuER2IbC/8Yp/p2DIIA0GNp HpziIs+dauZPWfZHc6oU7lJAClGAG4MUx7CysVIOzl7ML/Bf4mjYv0faGf5YQfyE weOR+OPPIWDUwgjzHKMAboA4ijkE/v+EKjOaN/S9rEqFEMKC99fwGkf9wUcpZTne 8lzdI2JrgYNDWMVNYlomeLD4lBAbxb/QsnRUa33igjr0MclvMDkp5HaO631Z1+Zx be2z8Rl1CtMwS4qeaOXoeaoNWHU26+oJRZNtCGi/Fw4aKqYXP1dnE/m0GtqEP9Yi +CU2rKbZn3j0+ZcQjCQop8FREPrZ2/Uaji70b6G7WZ2ApcqBxzBffpbMKOmd6T1D HIzGh0fpdYNDuwn6Txit =MbAC -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'iommu-updates-v3.6-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/joro/iommu Pull IOMMU updates from Joerg Roedel: "The most important part of these updates is the IOMMU groups code enhancement written by Alex Williamson. * Performance improvement to lower the amount of traps the hypervisor has to do 32-bit guests. Mainly for setting PTE entries and updating TLS descriptors. * MCE polling driver to collect hypervisor MCE buffer and present them to /dev/mcelog. * Physical CPU online/offline support. When an privileged guest is booted it is present with virtual CPUs, which might have an 1:1 to physical CPUs but usually don't. This provides mechanism to offline/online physical CPUs. Bug-fixes for: * Coverity found fixes in the console and ACPI processor driver. * PVonHVM kexec fixes along with some cleanups. * Pages that fall within E820 gaps and non-RAM regions (and had been released to hypervisor) would be populated back, but potentially in non-RAM regions. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) iQEcBAABAgAGBQJQDWcvAAoJEFjIrFwIi8fJ6GAH/iFIkOC5wseD8qZ9nV4VI46t 0GYvBFC4F91NvC7CNfoAySr84v+ZORIZzMcdyDF8H/tLO9MaOY/Mwn0S5ZSqmYMi rhskvK3InBaVkYtceOHugNGM7mB0c3STIm7OsjW6gbVzohmTN25rbQR+X5iWAtVA cTUtDyH3AU15mwuVT3U+VC4IulHpnNJz4pHoq3Sn61/UK1LYmhLXYd5fveA0D0B8 lRZTAvNMsYDJDDmkWNrs8RczKkQ86DTSjfGawm0YG+Gf94GgD5yMHWbiHh2Gy93e u7sHK0RrKbP5BY/MV6vVJxkoV5NoWgCc0tcjBcYwdyvwzxDS75UhV6uoVHC3Ao8= =drt2 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'stable/for-linus-3.6-rc0-tag' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/konrad/xen Pull Xen update from Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk: "Features: * Performance improvement to lower the amount of traps the hypervisor has to do 32-bit guests. Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net-next
Pull networking changes from David S Miller: 1) Remove the ipv4 routing cache. Now lookups go directly into the FIB trie and use prebuilt routes cached there. No more garbage collection, no more rDOS attacks on the routing cache. Instead we now get predictable and consistent performance, no matter what the pattern of traffic we service. This has been almost 2 years in the making. Special thanks to Julian Anastasov, Eric Dumazet, Steffen Klassert, and others who have helped along the way. I'm sure that with a change of this magnitude there will be some kind of fallout, but such things ought the be simple to fix at this point. Luckily I'm not European so I'll be around all of August to fix things :-) The major stages of this work here are each fronted by a forced merge commit whose commit message contains a top-level description of the motivations and implementation issues. 2) Pre-demux of established ipv4 TCP sockets, saves a route demux on input. 3) TCP SYN/ACK performance tweaks from Eric Dumazet. 4) Add namespace support for netfilter L4 conntrack helpers, from Gao Feng. 5) Add config mechanism for Energy Efficient Ethernet to ethtool, from Yuval Mintz. 6) Remove quadratic behavior from /proc/net/unix, from Eric Dumazet. 7) Support for connection tracker helpers in userspace, from Pablo Neira Ayuso. 8) Allow userspace driven TX load balancing functions in TEAM driver, from Jiri Pirko. 9) Kill off NLMSG_PUT and RTA_PUT macros, more gross stuff with embedded gotos. 10) TCP Small Queues, essentially minimize the amount of TCP data queued up in the packet scheduler layer. Whereas the existing BQL (Byte Queue Limits) limits the pkt_sched --> netdevice queuing levels, this controls the TCP --> pkt_sched queueing levels. From Eric Dumazet. 11) Reduce the number of get_page/put_page ops done on SKB fragments, from Alexander Duyck. 12) Implement protection against blind resets in TCP (RFC 5961), from Eric Dumazet. 13) Support the client side of TCP Fast Open, basically the ability to send data in the SYN exchange, from Yuchung Cheng. Basically, the sender queues up data with a sendmsg() call using MSG_FASTOPEN, then they do the connect() which emits the queued up fastopen data. 14) Avoid all the problems we get into in TCP when timers or PMTU events hit a locked socket. The TCP Small Queues changes added a tcp_release_cb() that allows us to queue work up to the release_sock() caller, and that's what we use here too. From Eric Dumazet. 15) Zero copy on TX support for TUN driver, from Michael S. Tsirkin. * git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net-next: (1870 commits) genetlink: define lockdep_genl_is_held() when CONFIG_LOCKDEP r8169: revert "add byte queue limit support". ipv4: Change rt->rt_iif encoding. net: Make skb->skb_iif always track skb->dev ipv4: Prepare for change of rt->rt_iif encoding. ipv4: Remove all RTCF_DIRECTSRC handliing. ipv4: Really ignore ICMP address requests/replies. decnet: Don't set RTCF_DIRECTSRC. net/ipv4/ip_vti.c: Fix __rcu warnings detected by sparse. ipv4: Remove redundant assignment rds: set correct msg_namelen openvswitch: potential NULL deref in sample() tcp: dont drop MTU reduction indications bnx2x: Add new 57840 device IDs tcp: avoid oops in tcp_metrics and reset tcpm_stamp niu: Change niu_rbr_fill() to use unlikely() to check niu_rbr_add_page() return value niu: Fix to check for dma mapping errors. net: Fix references to out-of-scope variables in put_cmsg_compat() net: ethernet: davinci_emac: add pm_runtime support net: ethernet: davinci_emac: Remove unnecessary #include ... |

i2c-i801: Enable IRQ for SMBus transactions
Add a new 'feature' to i2c-i801 to enable using PCI interrupts. When the feature is enabled, then an isr is installed for the device's PCI IRQ. An I2C/SMBus transaction is always terminated by one of the following interrupt sources: FAILED, BUS_ERR, DEV_ERR, or on success: INTR. When the isr fires for one of these cases, it sets the ->status variable and wakes up the waitq. The waitq then saves off the status code, and clears ->status (in preparation for some future transaction). The SMBus controller generates an INTR irq at the end of each transaction where INTREN was set in the HST_CNT register. No locking is needed around accesses to priv->status since all writes to it are serialized: it is only ever set once in the isr at the end of a transaction, and cleared while no interrupts can occur. In addition, the I2C adapter lock guarantees that entire I2C transactions for a single adapter are always serialized. For this patch, the INTREN bit is set only for SMBus block, byte and word transactions, but not for I2C reads or writes. The use of the DS (BYTE_DONE) interrupt with byte-by-byte I2C transactions is implemented in a subsequent patch. The interrupt feature has only been enabled for COUGARPOINT hardware. In addition, it is disabled if SMBus is using the SMI# interrupt. Signed-off-by: Daniel Kurtz <djkurtz@chromium.org> Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org> |

arm-soc: new SoC support
This adds support for three new SoC types: * The mvebu platform includes Marvell's Armada XP and Armada 370 chips, made by the mvebu business unit inside of Marvell. Since the same group also made the older but similar platforms we call "orion5x", "kirkwood", "mv78xx0" and "dove", we plan to move all of them into the mach-mvebu directory in the future. * socfpga is Altera's platform based on Cortex-A9 cores and a lot of FPGA space. This is similar to the Xilinx zynq platform we already support. The code is particularly clean, which is helped by the fact that the hardware doesn't do much besides the parts that are expected to get added in the FPGA. * The OMAP subarchitecture gains support for the latest generation, the OMAP5 based on the new Cortex-A15 core. Support is rather rudimentary for now, but will be extended in the future. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) iQIVAwUAUA2deGCrR//JCVInAQJLxg/8DHL6usaciRX0rDzxAkv2h0cezjgR/ect OfHdxhge7R50NEbf4Jayyly8fIvADJB5nIgk1jhYzAOroVAGxiZQxhyGn3p+Cpbm 4weu78Uk5habgGA3DmV/R8rKhd1iFtr1DSHbogU43UjPj9Zz5WOREGNJehvxOr/2 hUfymdqxNg4ivCWyA3w4IKhxA/Hrs351n3J3sY3wjLRPn/uZIlvyx4Q8InteAJZp 96u5F9y34CxB9SkXAX0P+Bdb0L1fWhZ1J6E8wjOMp/t3LaSXvvWVgCl6MxTcERpf jeeABKPTQx99zkH3MdPRQfgBMwsez4L4dXh3qcJaEoqF//UXpE9cTTdjqYu6NRsJ znO8Ns8a2X4zX6KF4ySQf2jtLzH4aF21nq6NTJyYyfDWZixqRSKawbSsYqc1vtmi ReQ00feJrO60/A4Ks25asUfubqm/SXZ6BfHSgS/ZaOjgJaW9X42CUKnuIywXPTrY cAGDh4v1ZrWdXiQIu7oKgESSQNi4GrAEDYqVYs/PmSk2UiuzHcSuPMYxsCmLk8mH By7CLByXGOjzD9678LX2VHvKhK2l7Wd+Vkp/pGk4N4fK581JBfyBWfE0T5rpOU28 +fIFVAV6U0I1OW879b5LmC/kjtmHPxePP6XUcHE152ef1CiT6zm5IE+C2Ukso71V +WKxBRBOxII= =MwdJ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'newsoc' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc Pull support for three new arm SoC types from Arnd Bergmann: - The mvebu platform includes Marvell's Armada XP and Armada 370 chips, made by the mvebu business unit inside of Marvell. arm-soc: device tree description updates
This branch contains two kinds of updates: Some platforms in the process of getting converted to device tree based booting, and the platform specific patches necessary for that are included here. Other platforms are already converted, so we just need to update the actual device tree source files and the binding documents to add support for new board and new drivers. In the future we will probably separate those into two branches, and in the long run, the plan is to move the device tree source files out of the kernel repository, but that has to wait until we have completed a much larger portion of the binding documents. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) iQIVAwUAUA2dbmCrR//JCVInAQJl0hAA3U3AnfBBXbKEJhUi47z6QU2kRPVfyjAj ct+FsZMWFihEHC5/YkB/bQ/i7Hf/AKBZRG6eAUfsyevuhQ0Li+wsRM4eU3FaF6kw HNqqB6GQWM+2rR8//Y6AAZymTLfe5nbuWFhRXiIggIlQne5jJ1kSidmSzG+OJEuN sAKXX7Ud5goVsby9Uwp4Gc0fpDsjFmIarhHfMDizFozNZIFzZIhKKdl1VOf+Kv+o PFRfCGB2KQrrDy0oB62y3iNUiK84LA0xWX4KkI9rD4OHWeiDQpbUITchf//Wa20X vgZdI8T16sxbmAHi1zerIl8y/CLgLyerp1L3KSMGTwirC+92vZg+jOGYGgNqu973 NOl0IBQFpbAlNzmf52naNgcQ2OxxFQ3ogrlpvE2bItLL7J3vpmn1JwWMTtSrcs3Z xgbovAq2ivNOiKpzXexvMsWDCU3PxzXaP+2hEUhglJcdXkx5Iwiwi6un2FuF2qWT l5rSAWkg2kT/OkgYHLBI5JW7e7ugWhUAuCsrIH9eW7xstm4hIlN950vefs2FrZkP FeE7pn6s6mr98+j9isJKusETXIoEXDLX61vxA8PQP7GYN+/O/g2qB0qztBwarMBL wAdHCjavOYNwPkxYaGLjv9qKt3X575O/6aFa/NoKGhIECanjLl02Tqg02BdHecST 8HENXCvwQns= =K3WL -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'dt' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc Pull arm-soc device tree description updates from Arnd Bergmann: "This branch contains two kinds of updates: Some platforms in the process of getting converted to device tree based booting, and the platform specific patches necessary for that are included here. x86, doc: Assign a bootloader ID for "Minimal Linux Bootloader"
Assign a bootloader ID for Sebastian Plotz' "Minimal Linux Bootloader" (http://sebastian-plotz.blogspot.de). Sebastian has agreed to make this the pilot for the use of extended boot loader IDs, so this is assigned version ID 0x11 (avoid assigning 0x10 for now to catch bugs with people putting E in the primary ID but leaving the extended ID as zero.) Merge branch 'for-linus-2' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/viro/vfs
Pull the big VFS changes from Al Viro: "This one is *big* and changes quite a few things around VFS. What's in there: - the first of two really major architecture changes - death to open intents. The former is finally there; it was very long in making, but with Miklos getting through really hard and messy final push in fs/namei.c, we finally have it. Unlike his variant, this one doesn't introduce struct opendata; what we have instead is ->atomic_open() taking preallocated struct file * and passing everything via its fields. Instead of returning struct file *, it returns -E... on error, 0 on success and 1 in "deal with it yourself" case (e.g. symlink found on server, etc.). See comments before fs/namei.c:atomic_open(). That made a lot of goodies finally possible and quite a few are in that pile: ->lookup(), ->d_revalidate() and ->create() do not get struct nameidata * anymore; ->lookup() and ->d_revalidate() get lookup flags instead, ->create() gets "do we want it exclusive" flag. With the introduction of new helper (kern_path_locked()) we are rid of all struct nameidata instances outside of fs/namei.c; it's still visible in namei.h, but not for long. Come the next cycle, declaration will move either to fs/internal.h or to fs/namei.c itself. [me, miklos, hch] - The second major change: behaviour of final fput(). Now we have __fput() done without any locks held by caller *and* not from deep in call stack. That obviously lifts a lot of constraints on the locking in there. Moreover, it's legal now to call fput() from atomic contexts (which has immediately simplified life for aio.c). We also don't need anti-recursion logics in __scm_destroy() anymore. There is a price, though - the damn thing has become partially asynchronous. For fput() from normal process we are guaranteed that pending __fput() will be done before the caller returns to userland, exits or gets stopped for ptrace. For kernel threads and atomic contexts it's done via schedule_work(), so theoretically we might need a way to make sure it's finished; so far only one such place had been found, but there might be more. There's flush_delayed_fput() (do all pending __fput()) and there's __fput_sync() (fput() analog doing __fput() immediately). I hope we won't need them often; see warnings in fs/file_table.c for details. [me, based on task_work series from Oleg merged last cycle] - sync series from Jan - large part of "death to sync_supers()" work from Artem; the only bits missing here are exofs and ext4 ones. As far as I understand, those are going via the exofs and ext4 trees resp.; once they are in, we can put ->write_super() to the rest, along with the thread calling it. - preparatory bits from unionmount series (from dhowells). - assorted cleanups and fixes all over the place, as usual. This is not the last pile for this cycle; there's at least jlayton's ESTALE work and fsfreeze series (the latter - in dire need of fixes, so I'm not sure it'll make the cut this cycle). I'll probably throw symlink/hardlink restrictions stuff from Kees into the next pile, too. Plus there's a lot of misc patches I hadn't thrown into that one - it's large enough as it is..." * 'for-linus-2' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/viro/vfs: (127 commits) ext4: switch EXT4_IOC_RESIZE_FS to mnt_want_write_file() btrfs: switch btrfs_ioctl_balance() to mnt_want_write_file() switch dentry_open() to struct path, make it grab references itself spufs: shift dget/mntget towards dentry_open() zoran: don't bother with struct file * in zoran_map ecryptfs: don't reinvent the wheels, please - use struct completion don't expose I_NEW inodes via dentry->d_inode tidy up namei.c a bit unobfuscate follow_up() a bit ext3: pass custom EOF to generic_file_llseek_size() ext4: use core vfs llseek code for dir seeks vfs: allow custom EOF in generic_file_llseek code vfs: Avoid unnecessary WB_SYNC_NONE writeback during sys_sync and reorder sync passes vfs: Remove unnecessary flushing of block devices vfs: Make sys_sync writeout also block device inodes vfs: Create function for iterating over block devices vfs: Reorder operations during sys_sync quota: Move quota syncing to ->sync_fs method quota: Split dquot_quota_sync() to writeback and cache flushing part vfs: Move noop_backing_dev_info check from sync into writeback ... |

sctp: Implement quick failover draft from tsvwg
I've seen several attempts recently made to do quick failover of sctp transports by reducing various retransmit timers and counters. While its possible to implement a faster failover on multihomed sctp associations, its not particularly robust, in that it can lead to unneeded retransmits, as well as false connection failures due to intermittent latency on a network. Instead, lets implement the new ietf quick failover draft found here: http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-nishida-tsvwg-sctp-failover-05 This will let the sctp stack identify transports that have had a small number of errors, and avoid using them quickly until their reliability can be re-established. I've tested this out on two virt guests connected via multiple isolated virt networks and believe its in compliance with the above draft and works well. Merge branch 'core-rcu-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip
Pull RCU changes from Ingo Molnar: "Quoting from Paul, the major features of this series are: 1. Preventing latency spikes of more than 200 microseconds for kernels built with NR_CPUS=4096, which is reportedly becoming the default for some distros. This is a first step, as it does not help with systems that actually -have- 4096 CPUs (work on this case is in progress, but is not yet ready for mainline). This category also includes improving concurrency of rcu_barrier(), placed here due to conflicts. Posted to LKML at: https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/6/22/381 Note that patches 18-22 of that series have been defered to 3.7, as they have not yet proven themselves to be mainline-ready (and yes, these are the ones intended to get rid of RCU's latency spikes for systems that actually have 4096 CPUs). 2. Updates to documentation and rcutorture fixes, the latter category including improvements to rcu_barrier() testing. Posted to LKML at http://lkml.indiana.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/1206.1/04094.html. 3. Miscellaneous fixes posted to LKML at: https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/6/22/500 with the exception of the last commit, which was posted here: http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/linux/kernel/1561830 4. hwmon: Honeywell Humidicon HIH-6130/HIH-6131 humidity and temperature sensor driver
This is a new driver for the Honeywell Humidicon HIH-6130/HIH-6131 humidity sensor. The driver is based on the existing Sensiron sht21 driver with the necessary changes to the probe, update_measurements and conversion functions necessary to use the Honeywell sensors. There's no difference between the 6130 & 6131 other than the 6131 having an external condensation filter attached. x86, efi: Handover Protocol
As things currently stand, traditional EFI boot loaders and the EFI boot stub are carrying essentially the same initialisation code required to setup an EFI machine for booting a kernel. There's really no need to have this code in two places and the hope is that, with this new protocol, initialisation and booting of the kernel can be left solely to the kernel's EFI boot stub. The responsibilities of the boot loader then become, o Loading the kernel image from boot media File system code still needs to be carried by boot loaders for the scenario where the kernel and initrd files reside on a file system that the EFI firmware doesn't natively understand, such as ext4, etc. o Providing a user interface Boot loaders still need to display any menus/interfaces, for example to allow the user to select from a list of kernels. Bump the boot protocol number because we added the 'handover_offset' field to indicate the location of the handover protocol entry point. Cc: H.
