Extend tdc_multibatch.py with additional options required to implement the
test: common prefix for all generated batch files, first value of filter

invocation of tdc_multibatch.py helper script.

Implement test that verifies concurrent deletion of rules by executing 10
tc instances that delete flower filters in same handle range. In this case
only one tc instance succeeds in deleting a filter with particular handle.
To mitigate expected failures of all other instances, run tc with 'force'
option to continue processing batch file in case of errors and expect xargs
to return code '123' that indicates that invocation of command(s) exited
with error in range 1-125.

Implement tdc_multibatch.py helper script that is used to generate multiple

files generated by tdc_multibatch.py.

Extend tdc_batch.py with several optional CLI arguments that are used for
implementation of concurrency tests in following patches in this set:
- Add optional argument to specify range of filter handles used in batch
file [fitler_handle, filter_handle+number). This is needed for testing
filter deletion where it is necessary to know exact handles of configured
filters.
- Add optional argument to specify filter operation type (possible values
are ['add', 'del', 'replace']) instead of hardcoded "add" value. This
allows generation of batches for filter addition, deletion and
replacement.
- Add optional argument to allow user to change mac address prefix that is
used for all filters in batch. This is necessary to allow generating
multiple batches with unique flower classifier keys.

Three conflicts, one of which, for marvell10g.c is non-trivial and
requires some follow-up from Heiner or someone else.
The issue is that Heiner converted the marvell10g driver over to
use the generic c45 code as much as possible.
However, in 'net' a bug fix appeared which makes sure that a new
local mask (MDIO_AN_10GBT_CTRL_ADV_NBT_MASK) with value 0x01e0
is cleared.

Just like commit e2ba732a16 ("selftests: fib_tests: sleep after
changing carrier"), wait one second to allow linkwatch to propagate the
carrier change to the stack.
There are two sets of carrier tests. The first slept after the carrier
was set to off, and when the second set ran, it was likely that the
linkwatch would be able to run again without much delay, reducing the
likelihood of a race. However, if you run 'fib_tests.sh -t carrier' on a
loop, you will quickly notice the failures.
Sleeping on the second set of tests make the failures go away.

Add a 'path' member to 'struct perf_data'. It will keep the configured
path for the data (const char *). The path in struct perf_data_file is
now dynamically allocated (duped) from it.
This scheme is useful/used in following patches where struct
perf_data::path holds the 'configure' directory path and struct
perf_data_file::path holds the allocated path for specific files.
Also it actually makes the code little simpler.

Create new dialog data item classes to replace SQLTableDialogDataItem.
This separates out different dialog data items and makes it easier to
add new ones. SQLTableDialogDataItem is removed in a separate patch

trie_delete_elem() was deleting an entry even though it was not matching
if the prefixlen was correct. This patch adds a check on matchlen.

map_hugetlb maps 256Mbytes of memory with default hugepage size.

Force sample_type setup for slave events in group leader sessions.
We don't get sample for slave events, we make them when delivering group

At some point I'll suggest moving this to libbpf, for now I'll
experiment with ways to dump BPF maps set by events in 'perf trace',
starting with a very basic dumper for the current very limited needs
of the augmented_raw_syscalls code: dumping booleans.
Having functions that apply to the map keys and values and do table
lookup in things like syscall id to string tables should come next.

Commit 489338a717 ("perf tests evsel-tp-sched: Fix bitwise operator")
causes test case 14 "Parse sched tracepoints fields" to fail on s390.
This test succeeds on x86.
In fact this test now fails on all architectures with type char treated
as type unsigned char.
The root cause is the signed-ness of character arrays in the tracepoints
sched_switch for structure members prev_comm and next_comm.
On s390 the output of:

type char is architecture specific.
Since the character arrays in both tracepoints sched_switch and
sched_wakeup should contain ascii characters, simply omit the check for
signedness in the test case.

bpftool has support for attach types "stream_verdict" and
"stream_parser" but the documentation was referring to them as
"skb_verdict" and "skb_parse". The inconsistency comes from commit

We can't assume inlined symbols with the same name are equal, because
their address range may be different. This will cause the symbols with
different addresses be shadowed when adding to the hist entry, and lead
to ERANGE error when checking the symbol address during sample parse,
the addr should be within the range of [sym.start, sym.end].
The error message is like: "0x36aea60 [0x8]: failed to process type: 68".
The second parameter of symbol__new() is the length of the fake symbol
for the inline frame, which is the subtraction of the end and start
address of base_sym.

Add the numa_topology object to return the list of numa nodes together
with their cpus. It will replace the numa code in header.c and will be
used from 'perf record' in the following patches.
Add the following interface functions to load numa details:
struct numa_topology *numa_topology__new(void);
void numa_topology__delete(struct numa_topology *tp);
And replace the current (copied) local interface, with no functional
changes.

Make struct cpu_topo global and rename it to 'struct cpu_topology', so
that it can be used from the 'perf record' command in the following
patches.
Add the following interface functions to load/free cpu topology details:
struct cpu_topology *cpu_topology__new(void);
void cpu_topology__delete(struct cpu_topology *tp);
Move it to a separate source file cputopo.c together with numa related
object in the following patches.
No functional change, the new interface will be used in upcoming changes.

While it's understandable why kernel limits number of BTF types to 65535
and size of string section to 64KB, in libbpf as user-space library it's
too restrictive. E.g., pahole converting DWARF to BTF type information
for Linux kernel generates more than 3 million BTF types and more than
3MB of strings, before deduplication. So to allow btf__dedup() to do its
work, we need to be able to load bigger BTF sections using btf__new().

For the forwarding selftests to work, we need network namespaces when
using veth/vrf otherwise ping/ping6 commands like these:
ip vrf exec vveth0 /bin/ping 192.0.2.2 -c 10 -i 0.1 -w 5
will fail because network namespaces may not be enabled.

The netfilter conflicts were rather simple overlapping
changes.
However, the cls_tcindex.c stuff was a bit more complex.
On the 'net' side, Cong is fixing several races and memory
leaks. Whilst on the 'net-next' side we have Vlad adding
the rtnl-ness support.
What I've decided to do, in order to resolve this, is revert the
conversion over to using a workqueue that Cong did, bringing us back
to pure RCU. I did it this way because I believe that either Cong's
races don't apply with have Vlad did things, or Cong will have to
implement the race fix slightly differently.

Add new accessor for bpf_object to get opaque struct btf * from it.
struct btf * is needed for all operations with BTF and it's present in
bpf_object. The only thing missing is a way to get it.
Example use-case is to get BTF key_type_id and value_type_id for a map in
bpf_object. It can be done with btf__get_map_kv_tids() but that function
requires struct btf *.
Similar API can be added for struct btf_ext but no use-case for it yet.

Add bpf_map__resize() to change max_entries for a map.
Quite often necessary map size is unknown at compile time and can be
calculated only at run time.
Currently the following approach is used to do so:
* bpf_object__open_buffer() to open Elf file from a buffer;
* bpf_object__find_map_by_name() to find relevant map;
* bpf_map__def() to get map attributes and create struct
bpf_create_map_attr from them;
* update max_entries in bpf_create_map_attr;
* bpf_create_map_xattr() to create new map with updated max_entries;
* bpf_map__reuse_fd() to replace the map in bpf_object with newly
created one.
And after all this bpf_object can finally be loaded. The map will have
new size.
It 1) is quite a lot of steps; 2) doesn't take BTF into account.
For "2)" even more steps should be made and some of them require changes
to libbpf (e.g. to get struct btf * from bpf_object).
Instead the whole problem can be solved by introducing simple
bpf_map__resize() API that checks the map and sets new max_entries if
the map is not loaded yet.
So the new steps are:
* bpf_object__open_buffer() to open Elf file from a buffer;
* bpf_object__find_map_by_name() to find relevant map;
* bpf_map__resize() to update max_entries.
That's much simpler and works with BTF.

Fixing legacy symbol events parsing. We can't support single slash
separator, like 'cycles/u', because it conflicts with non empty terms,
like 'cycles/period/u'.
Keeping only '//' and ':' separator for these events:

And removing '/' separator support, which is not working
anymore. Also adding automated tests for above events.

cs_etm__setup_queues(), considered to be the common denominator for

The comment just before initialising the decoder is plane wrong since it
is part of the decoding queue setup function and the operation code
specifically mention that trace data is to be decoded rather than printed
out.
This patch simply fix the comment to prevent people from getting really
confused.

The trace parameter initialisation code is repeated in two different
places, something that bloats the file and can lead to errors. This
is fixed by introducing a helper function and calling the right
protocol initialisation code when required.

When the libcrypto feature test was added we forgot to add its
FEATURE_CHECK_LDFLAGS pointing to the library needed to link with the
test-all.bin feature test fast path binary, so even when it was
introduced we got this:

Fix it, so that we keep the fast path, which, at this point, will fail

When a test is in the FEATURE_TESTS_BASIC list in tools/build/Makefile.feature
must be added to tools/build/feature/test-all.c, because the successfull
compilation and linking of that test-all.bin file means that all the
features listed in FEATURE_TESTS_BASIC are present in the system, so we
don't have to go on feature by feature test building them.
Since reallocarray() is expected to be present in modern systems, it has
a place in FEATURE_TESTS_BASIC, so that we speed up the build process
building just that file.
For older systems, such as ubuntu:16.04 (build failure reported by Jin
Yao) debian:8, and for the current flagship RHEL distro, RHEL7, the
build will fail as test-all.bin (without test-reallocarray.c included)
passes but reallocarray() isn't present, making the build fail with:

As it is not normally available on x86_64 not being tested on test-all.c
but being in FEATURE_TESTS_BASIC ends up implying that those features
are present, which leads to trying to link with those libraries and a
build failure now that test-all.c is finally again building
successfully:

The clean target in the makefile conflicts with the generic
kselftests lib.mk, and fails to properly remove the compiled
test programs.
Remove the redundant rule, the TEST_GEN_FILES will be already
removed by the CLEAN macro in lib.mk.

When introducing the possibility for selecting if the common prefix to
options such as the waitid ones, i.e. all 'waitid' options start with
'W', so, to make it make it more compact if configured to suppress it,
'perf trace' will do so, other examples include mmap's PROT_ prefix for
its 'prot' argument, etc, which, when showing the syscall argument name
ends up producing duplicated info that clutters the screen, i.e.:

Check for that and return NULL instead.
This problem was introduced recently, the other codepaths leading to
thread_trace__files_entry() check for negative fds, like thread__fd_path(),
but we need to do it at thread_trace__files_entry() as more users are now

Since we get all the tests in a single .c file for a first test,
tools/build/feature/test-all.c, if individual tests set that define and
fail to undef it at its end, then it the test-all.c build will fail due
to defining _GNU_SOURCE multiple times, getting us to the slow path,
so undef it at the end in tests that define it.

On IBM z13 machine types 2964 and 2965 the descriptor
sizes for sampling and diagnostic sampling entries
might be missing in the trailer entry and are set to zero.
This leads to a perf report failure when processing diagnostic
sampling entries.
This patch adds missing descriptor sizes when the trailer entry
contains zero for these fields.

Clean up the transmission flow

Cleaned up the whole transmission flow. Locking of the chip is now done in
the level of tpm_try_get_ops() and tpm_put_ops() instead taking the chip
lock inside tpm_transmit(). The nested calls inside tpm_transmit(), used
with the resource manager, have been refactored out.
Should make easier to perform more complex transactions with the TPM
without making the subsystem a bigger mess (e.g. encrypted channel patches
by James Bottomley).
PPI 1.3 support
===============
TPM PPI 1.3 introduces an additional optional command parameter that may be
needed for some commands. Display the parameter if the command requires
such a parameter. Only command 23 (SetPCRBanks) needs one.

Extend all PCR banks in IMA
===========================
Instead of static PCR banks array, the array of available PCR banks is now
allocated dynamically. The digests sizes are determined dynamically using a
probe PCR read without relying crypto's static list of hash algorithms.
This should finally make sealing of measurements in IMA safe and secure.
TPM 2.0 selftests
=================
Added a test suite to tools/testing/selftests/tpm2 previously outside of
the kernel tree: https://github.com/jsakkine-intel/tpm2-scripts.
cpufreq driver creates sysfs file "scaling_boost_frequency" for platforms
which support boost frequency. Cpupower now prints boost frequencies
separately. For few x86 vendors who already have different way to get boost
frequency, will continue to use the existing logic. Rest of the platforms
will rely on "scaling_boost_frequency" file to display boost frequency.

The pid ns cannot be unshare()d as an unprivileged user without owning the
userns as well. Let's unshare the userns so that we can subsequently
unshare the pidns.
This also means that we don't need to set the no new privs bit as in the
other test cases, since we're unsharing the userns.

seccomp() doesn't allow users who aren't root in their userns to attach
filters unless they have the nnp bit set, so let's set it so that these
tests can pass when run as an unprivileged user.
This idea stolen from the other seccomp tests, which use this trick :)

The get_metadata() test requires real root, so let's skip it if we're not
real root.
Note that I used XFAIL here because that's what the test does later if
CONFIG_CHEKCKPOINT_RESTORE happens to not be enabled. After looking at the
code, there doesn't seem to be a nice way to skip tests defined as TEST(),
since there's no return code (I tried exit(KSFT_SKIP), but that didn't work
either...). So let's do it this way to be consistent, and easier to fix
when someone comes along and fixes it.

This this test forks a child, and then the parent waits for a write() to a
pipe signalling the child is ready to be attached to. If something in the
child ASSERTs before it does this write, the test will hang waiting for it.
Instead, let's EXPECT, so that execution continues until we do the write.
Any failure after that is fine and can ASSERT.

The livepatch selftest functions.sh library uses "$*" and an
intermediate variable to extract and then pass arguments from function
to function call. The effect of this combination is that the argument
list is flattened into a single argument. Sometimes this is benign, but
in cases like __load_mod(), the modprobe invocation will interpret all
the module parameters as a single parameter.
Drop the intermediate variable and use the "$@" special parameter as
described in the bash manual.

Sub-register mode compilation was enabled only when there are eBPF "v3"
processor supports at both compilation time inside LLVM and runtime inside
kernel.
Given separation betwen build and test server could be often, this patch
removes the runtime support criteria.

At the moment, all kernel bpf objects are listed under BPF_OBJ_FILES.
Listing them manually sometimes causing patch conflict when people are
adding new testcases simultaneously.
It is better to centre all the related source files under a subdir
"progs", then auto-generate the object file list.

At the moment, we only do extra sub-register mode compilation on bpf object
files used by "test_progs". These object files are really loaded and
executed.
This patch further extends sub-register mode compilation to all bpf object
files, even those without corresponding runtime tests. Because this could
help testing LLVM sub-register code-gen, kernel bpf selftest has much more
C testcases with reasonable size and complexity compared with LLVM
testsuite which only contains unit tests.
There were some file duplication inside BPF_OBJ_FILES_DUAL_COMPILE which
is removed now.

This patch tests accessing the skb->sk and the new helpers,
bpf_sk_fullsock and bpf_tcp_sock.
The errstr of some existing "reference tracking" tests is changed
with s/bpf_sock/sock/ and s/socket/sock/ where "sock" is from the
verifier's reg_type_str[].

Move all the TC identifiers to one place, to the same enum that defines

This patch changes struct btf_ext to retain original data in sequential
block of memory, which makes it possible to expose
btf_ext__get_raw_data() interface similar to btf__get_raw_data(), allowing

This patch exposes new API btf__get_raw_data() that allows to get a copy
of raw BTF data out of struct btf. This is useful for external programs
that need to manipulate raw data, e.g., pahole using btf__dedup() to
deduplicate BTF type info and then writing it back to file.

This change splits out previous btf__new functionality of constructing
struct btf and loading it into kernel into two:
- btf__new() just creates and initializes struct btf
- btf__load() attempts to load existing struct btf into kernel
btf__free will still close BTF fd, if it was ever loaded successfully
into kernel.
This change allows users of libbpf to manipulate BTF using its API,
without the need to unnecessarily load it into kernel.
One of the intended use cases is pahole, which will do DWARF to BTF
conversion and then use libbpf to do type deduplication, while then
handling ELF sections overwriting and other concerns on its own.

The commit tried to address an issue discovered by Dan where he got
a message saying:
'usermode helper disabled so ignoring test'.
Dans's commit is forcing CONFIG_FW_LOADER_USER_HELPER_FALLBACK but just
having CONFIG_FW_LOADER_USER_HELPER suffices to emulate the_FALLBACK
functionality.
Dan's commit is trying to fix an issue which is hidden from a previous
commit. That issue will be addressed properly next.

The kernel verifier has three levels of logs:
0: no logs
1: logs mostly useful
> 1: verbose
Current libbpf API functions bpf_load_program_xattr() and
bpf_load_program() cannot specify log_level.
The bcc, however, provides an interface for user to
specify log_level 2 for verbose output.
This patch added log_level into structure
bpf_load_program_attr, so users, including bcc, can use
bpf_load_program_xattr() to change log_level. The
supported log_level is 0, 1, and 2.
The bpf selftest test_sock.c is modified to enable log_level = 2.
If the "verbose" in test_sock.c is changed to true,
the test will output logs like below:

Test that ping fails and that the routes are marked as offloaded. Use a
simple tc filter to test that packets were dropped by the ASIC and not
trapped to the CPU.

When compiling test_maps selftest with GCC-8, it warns that an array

This patch simply guarantees that the task(s) variables are unsigned,
thus, they could never be a negative number (which they are not in

Data is copied when the trace is stopped, so packets are never split
between buffers except when processing if the buffer cannot fit in the
address space which can only happen on 32-bit systems. Change the logic
to reflect that.

CYC packet timestamp calculation depends upon CBR which was being
cleared upon overflow (OVF). That can cause errors due to failing to
synchronize with sideband events. Even if a CBR change has been lost,
the old CBR is still a better estimate than zero. So remove the clearing
of CBR.

The compiler might optimize a call/ret combination by making it a jmp.
However the thread-stack does not presently cater for that, so that such
control flow is not visible in the call graph. Make it visible by
recording on the stack a branch to the start of a different symbol.
Note, that means when a ret pops the stack, all jmps must be popped off
first.

Kallsyms symbols do not have a size, so the size becomes the distance to
the next symbol.
Consequently the recently added trampoline symbols end up with large
sizes because the trampolines are some distance from one another and the
main kernel map.
However, symbols that end outside their map can disrupt the symbol tree
because, after mapping, it can appear incorrectly that they overlap
other symbols.
Add logic to truncate symbol size to the end of the corresponding map.

When return from exception, we need to distinguish if it's system call
return or for other type exceptions for setting sample flags. Due to
the exception return packet doesn't contain exception number, so we
cannot decide sample flags based on exception number.
On the other hand, the exception return packet is followed by an
instruction range packet; this range packet deliveries the start address
after exception handling, we can check if it is a SVC instruction just
before the start address. If there has one SVC instruction is found
ahead the return address, this means it's an exception return for system
call; otherwise it is an normal return for other exceptions.
This patch is to set sample flags for exception return packet, firstly
it simply set sample flags as PERF_IP_FLAG_INTERRUPT for all exception
returns since at this point it doesn't know what's exactly the exception
type. We will defer to decide if it's an exception return for system
call when the next instruction range packet comes, it checks if there
has one SVC instruction prior to the start address and if so we will
change sample flags to PERF_IP_FLAG_SYSCALLRET for system call return.

The exception taken and returning are typical flow for instruction jump
but it needs to be handled with exception packets. This patch is to set
sample flags for exception packet.
Since the exception packet contains the exception number, according to
the exception number this patch makes decision for belonging to which
exception types.
The decoder have defined different exception number for ETMv3 and ETMv4
separately, hence this patch needs firstly decide the ETM version by
using the metadata magic number, and this patch adds helper function
cs_etm__get_magic() for easily getting magic number.
Based on different ETM version, the exception packet contains the
exception number, according to the exception number this patch makes
decision for the exception belonging to which exception types.
In this patch, it introduces helper function cs_etm__is_svc_instr(); for
ETMv4 CS_ETMV4_EXC_CALL covers SVC, SMC and HVC cases in the single
exception number, thus need to use cs_etm__is_svc_instr() to decide an
exception taken for system call.

If packet processing wants to know the packet is bound with which ETM
version, it needs to access metadata to decide that based on metadata
magic number; but we cannot simply to use CPU logic ID number as index
to access metadata sequential array, especially when system have
hotplugged off CPUs, the metadata array are only allocated for online
CPUs but not offline CPUs, so the CPU logic number doesn't match with
its index in the array.
This patch is to change tuple from traceID-CPU# to traceID-metadata,
thus it can use the tuple to retrieve metadata pointer according to
traceID.
For safe accessing metadata fields, this patch provides helper function
cs_etm__get_cpu() which is used to return CPU number according to
traceID; cs_etm_decoder__buffer_packet() is the first consumer for this
helper function.

When an exception packet comes, it contains the information for
exception number; the exception number indicates the exception types, so
from it we can know if the exception is taken for interrupt, system call
or other traps, etc.
This patch simply adds a field in cs_etm_packet struct, it records
exception number for exception packet that will then be used to properly
identify exception types to the perf synthesize mechanic.

In the middle of trace stream, it might be interrupted thus the trace
data is not continuous, the trace stream firstly is ended for previous
trace block and restarted for next block.
To display related information for showing trace is restarted, this
patch set sample flags for trace discontinuity:
- If one discontinuity packet is coming, append flag
PERF_IP_FLAG_TRACE_END to the previous packet to indicate the trace
has been ended;
- If one instruction packet is following discontinuity packet, this
instruction packet is the first one packet to restarting trace. So
set flag PERF_IP_FLAG_TRACE_START to discontinuity packet, this flag
will be used to generate sample when connect with the sequential
instruction packet.

The perf sample data contains flags to indicate the hardware trace data
is belonging to which type branch instruction, thus this can be used to
print out the human readable string. Arm CoreSight ETM sample data is
missed to set flags and it is always set to zeros, this results in perf
tool skips to print string for instruction types.
This patch is to set branch instruction flags for instruction range
packet.

Decoder provides last instruction related information, these information
can be used for trace analysis; specifically we can get to know what
kind of branch instruction has been executed, mainly the information are
contained in three element fields:
last_i_type: this is significant type for waypoint calculation, it
indicates the last instruction is one of immediate branch instruction,
indirect branch instruction, instruction barrier (ISB), or data
barrier (DSB/DMB).
last_i_subtype: this is used for instruction sub type, it can be
branch with link, ARMv8 return instruction, ARMv8 eret instruction
(return from exception), or ARMv7 instruction which could imply
return (e.g. MOV PC, LR; POP { ,PC}).
last_instr_cond: it indicates if the last instruction was conditional.
But these three fields are not saved into cs_etm_packet struct, thus
cs-etm layer don't know related information and cannot generate sample
flags for branch instructions.
This patch add corresponding three new fields in cs_etm_packet struct
and save related value into the packet structure, it is preparation for
supporting sample flags.

Currently we make the annotation for the IPC column during the entry
display, already outside of the progress bar scope, so it appears like
'perf report' is stuck.
Move the annotation retrieval to the resort phase, so that all the data

The communication of sink information for a trace session doesn't work
when more than on CPU is involved in the scenario due to the static
nature of sysfs. As such communicate the sink information to each event
by using the perf_event::attr:config2 attribute. The information sent
to the kernel is an hash of the sink's name, which is unique in a
system.
