PCI: Set ROM shadow location in arch code, not in PCI core
IORESOURCE_ROM_SHADOW means there is a copy of a device's option ROM in RAM. The existence of such a copy and its location are arch-specific. Previously the IORESOURCE_ROM_SHADOW flag was set in arch code, but the 0xC0000-0xDFFFF location was hard-coded into the PCI core. If we're using a shadow copy in RAM, disable the ROM BAR and release the address space it was consuming. Move the location information from the PCI core to the arch code that sets IORESOURCE_ROM_SHADOW. Save the location of the RAM copy in the struct resource for PCI_ROM_RESOURCE. After this change, pci_map_rom() will call pci_assign_resource() and pci_enable_rom() for these IORESOURCE_ROM_SHADOW resources, which we did not do before. This is safe because: - pci_assign_resource() will do nothing because the resource is marked IORESOURCE_PCI_FIXED, which means we can't move it, and - pci_enable_rom() will not turn on the ROM BAR's enable bit because the resource is marked IORESOURCE_ROM_SHADOW, which means it is in RAM rather than in PCI memory space. PCI: Mark shadow copy of VGA ROM as IORESOURCE_PCI_FIXED
A shadow copy of an option ROM is placed by the BIOS as a fixed address. Set IORESOURCE_PCI_FIXED to indicate that we can't move the shadow copy. This prevents warnings like the following when we assign resources: BAR 6: [??? 0x00000000 flags 0x2] has bogus alignment This warning is emitted by pdev_sort_resources(), which already ignores IORESOURCE_PCI_FIXED resources. x86/PCI: Mark Broadwell-EP Home Agent & PCU as having non-compliant BARs
The Home Agent and PCU PCI devices in Broadwell-EP have a non-BAR register where a BAR should be. We don't know what the side effects of sizing the "BAR" would be, and we don't know what address space the "BAR" might appear to describe. Mark these devices as having non-compliant BARs so the PCI core doesn't touch them. x86/PCI: Add driver for Intel Volume Management Device (VMD)
The Intel Volume Management Device (VMD) is a Root Complex Integrated Endpoint that acts as a host bridge to a secondary PCIe domain. BIOS can reassign one or more Root Ports to appear within a VMD domain instead of the primary domain. The immediate benefit is that additional PCIe domains allow more than 256 buses in a system by letting bus numbers be reused across different domains. VMD domains do not define ACPI _SEG, so to avoid domain clashing with host bridges defining this segment, VMD domains start at 0x10000, which is greater than the highest possible 16-bit ACPI defined _SEG. This driver enumerates and enables the domain using the root bus configuration interface provided by the PCI subsystem. The driver provides configuration space accessor functions (pci_ops), bus and memory resources, an MSI IRQ domain with irq_chip implementation, and DMA operations necessary to use devices through the VMD endpoint's interface. VMD routes I/O as follows: 1) Configuration Space: BAR 0 ("CFGBAR") of VMD provides the base address and size for configuration space register access to VMD-owned root ports. It works similarly to MMCONFIG for extended configuration space. Bus numbering is independent and does not conflict with the primary domain. 2) MMIO Space: BARs 2 and 4 ("MEMBAR1" and "MEMBAR2") of VMD provide the base address, size, and type for MMIO register access. These addresses are not translated by VMD hardware; they are simply reservations to be distributed to root ports' memory base/limit registers and subdivided among devices downstream. 3) DMA: To interact appropriately with an IOMMU, the source ID DMA read and write requests are translated to the bus-device-function of the VMD endpoint. Otherwise, DMA operates normally without VMD-specific address translation. 4) Interrupts: Part of VMD's BAR 4 is reserved for VMD's MSI-X Table and PBA. MSIs from VMD domain devices and ports are remapped to appear as if they were issued using one of VMD's MSI-X table entries. Each MSI and MSI-X address of VMD-owned devices and ports has a special format where the address refers to specific entries in the VMD's MSI-X table. As with DMA, the interrupt source ID is translated to VMD's bus-device-function. The driver provides its own MSI and MSI-X configuration functions specific to how MSI messages are used within the VMD domain, and provides an irq_chip for independent IRQ allocation to relay interrupts from VMD's interrupt handler to the appropriate device driver's handler. 5) Errors: PCIe error message are intercepted by the root ports normally (e.g., AER), except with VMD, system errors (i.e., firmware first) are disabled by default. AER and hotplug interrupts are translated in the same way as endpoint interrupts. 6) VMD does not support INTx interrupts or IO ports. Devices or drivers requiring these features should either not be placed below VMD-owned root ports, or VMD should be disabled by BIOS for such endpoints. x86/PCI: Allow DMA ops specific to a PCI domain
The Intel Volume Management Device (VMD) is a PCIe endpoint that acts as a host bridge to another PCI domain. When devices below the VMD perform DMA, the VMD replaces their DMA source IDs with its own source ID. Therefore, those devices require special DMA ops. Add interfaces to allow the VMD driver to set up dma_ops for the devices below it. x86/PCI: Don't alloc pcibios-irq when MSI is enabled
The pcibios-irq and MSI both use dev->irq to store the IRQ number. While the MSI code checks for that and frees the pcibios-irq before overwriting dev->irq, the pcibios_alloc_irq() function does not. Usually this is not a problem, as the pcibios-irq is allocated before probe time of the device and the MSI IRQ is allocted from the driver's probe path. But there are PCI devices handled by the core kernel and not by a standard PCI driver, like the AMD IOMMU for example. For the AMD IOMMU a normal PCI device driver does not make sense, because a driver can be forcibly unbound from its device, which is not a good idea for an IOMMU. Nevertheless the PCI core code tries to match the PCI device implementing the AMD IOMMU against drivers, and allocates/frees a pcibios IRQ every time it tries out a new driver. This overwrites the dev->irq field set by pci_enable_msi() and sets it to 0 in the end (because the probe fails and the pcibios-irq is freed again). On suspend/resume this breaks the kernel, because the IRQ descriptor for IRQ 0 is NULL. Fix this by not allocating a pcibios-irq when MSI is already active. This also has the benefit, that a device claimed by the core kernel can not be probed by a PCI driver later. To support IOAPIC hotplug, we need to allocate PCI IRQ resources on demand and free them when not used anymore. Implement pcibios_alloc_irq() and pcibios_free_irq() to dynamically allocate and free PCI IRQs. Remove mp_should_keep_irq(), which is no longer used. x86/pci/intel_mid_pci: Work around for IRQ0 assignment
On Intel Tangier the MMC host controller is wired up to irq 0. But
several other devices have irq 0 associated as well due to a bogus PCI
configuration.
The first initialized driver will acquire irq 0 and make it
unavailable for other devices. If the sdhci driver is not the first
one it will fail to acquire the interrupt and therefor be non
functional.
Add a quirk to the pci irq enable function which denies irq 0 to
anything else than the MMC host controller driver on Tangier
platforms.

PCI: Call pci_read_bridge_bases() from core instead of arch code
When we scan a PCI bus, we read PCI-PCI bridge window registers with pci_read_bridge_bases() so we can validate the resource hierarchy. Most architectures call pci_read_bridge_bases() from pcibios_fixup_bus(), but PCI-PCI bridges are not arch-specific, so this doesn't need to be in arch-specific code. Call pci_read_bridge_bases() directly from the PCI core instead of from arch code. For alpha and mips, we now call pci_read_bridge_bases() always; previously we only called it if PCI_PROBE_ONLY was set. On older systems, we ignore _CRS and assume the whole physical address space (excluding RAM and other devices) is available for PCI devices, but on systems that support physical address spaces larger than 4GB, it's doubtful that the area above 4GB is really available for PCI. x86/mm/pat: Wrap pat_enabled into a function API
We use pat_enabled in x86-specific code to see if PAT is enabled or not but we're granting full access to it even though readers do not need to set it. If, for instance, we granted access to it to modules later they then could override the variable setting... no bueno. This renames pat_enabled to a new static variable __pat_enabled. Folks are redirected to use pat_enabled() now. Code that sets this can only be internal to pat.c. Apart from the early kernel parameter "nopat" to disable PAT, we also have a few cases that disable it later and make use of a helper pat_disable(). It is wrapped under an ifdef but since that code cannot run unless PAT was enabled its not required to wrap it with ifdefs, unwrap that. Likewise, since "nopat" doesn't really change non-PAT systems just remove that ifdef as well. Although we could add and use an early_param_off(), these helpers don't use __read_mostly but we want to keep __read_mostly for __pat_enabled as this is a hot path -- upon boot, for instance, a simple guest may see ~4k accesses to pat_enabled(). This routine has been around for over a decade, but with EISA being dead and abandoned for about twice that long, the name can be kind of confusing. PCI: Assign resources before drivers claim devices (pci_scan_root_bus())
Previously, pci_scan_root_bus() created a root PCI bus, enumerated the devices on it, and called pci_bus_add_devices(), which made the devices available for drivers to claim them. Most callers assigned resources to devices after pci_scan_root_bus() returns, which may be after drivers have claimed the devices. This is incorrect; the PCI core should not change device resources while a driver is managing the device. Remove pci_bus_add_devices() from pci_scan_root_bus() and do it after any resource assignment in the callers. PCI: Fail MSI-X mappings if there's no space assigned to MSI-X BAR
Unlike MSI, which is configured via registers in the MSI capability in Configuration Space, MSI-X is configured via tables in Memory Space. These MSI-X tables are mapped by a device BAR, and if no Memory Space has been assigned to the BAR, MSI-X cannot be used. Fail MSI-X setup if no space has been assigned for the BAR. Previously, we ioremapped the MSI-X table even if the resource hadn't been assigned. In this case, the resource address is undefined (and is often zero), which may lead to warnings or oopses in this path: pci_enable_msix msix_capability_init msix_map_region ioremap_nocache The PCI core sets resource flags to zero when it can't assign space for the resource (see reset_resource()). There are also some cases where it sets the IORESOURCE_UNSET flag, e.g., pci_reassigndev_resource_alignment(), pci_assign_resource(), etc. So we must check for both cases. ACPICA: Resources: Provide common part for struct acpi_resource_address structures.
struct acpi_resource_address and struct acpi_resource_extended_address64 share substracts just at different offsets. To unify the parsing functions, OSPMs like Linux need a new ACPI_ADDRESS64_ATTRIBUTE as their substructs, so they can extract the shared data. This patch also synchronizes the structure changes to the Linux kernel. The usages are searched by matching the following keywords: 1. acpi_resource_address 2. acpi_resource_extended_address 3. ACPI_RESOURCE_TYPE_ADDRESS 4. Xen overrides __acpi_register_gsi and leaves __acpi_unregister_gsi as is. That means, an IRQ allocated by acpi_register_gsi_xen_hvm() or acpi_register_gsi_xen() will be freed by acpi_unregister_gsi_ioapic(), which may cause undesired effects. So override __acpi_unregister_gsi to NULL for safety. x86/xen: Treat SCI interrupt as normal GSI interrupt
Currently Xen Domain0 has special treatment for ACPI SCI interrupt, that is initialize irq for ACPI SCI at early stage in a special way as: xen_init_IRQ() ->pci_xen_initial_domain() ->xen_setup_acpi_sci() Allocate and initialize irq for ACPI SCI Function xen_setup_acpi_sci() calls acpi_gsi_to_irq() to get an irq number for ACPI SCI. But unfortunately acpi_gsi_to_irq() depends on IOAPIC irqdomains through following path acpi_gsi_to_irq() ->mp_map_gsi_to_irq() ->mp_map_pin_to_irq() ->check IOAPIC irqdomain For PV domains, it uses Xen event based interrupt manangement and doesn't make uses of native IOAPIC, so no irqdomains created for IOAPIC. This causes Xen domain0 fail to install interrupt handler for ACPI SCI and all ACPI events will be lost. Please refer to: https://lkml.org/lkml/2014/12/19/178 So the fix is to get rid of special treatment for ACPI SCI, just treat ACPI SCI as normal GSI interrupt as: acpi_gsi_to_irq() ->acpi_register_gsi() ->acpi_register_gsi_xen() ->xen_register_gsi() With above change, there's no need for xen_setup_acpi_sci() anymore. The above change also works with bare metal kernel too. because orphaned address space is unreachable from the primary side of the
upstream bridge. If we inherit invalid bridge windows that overlap an

spi: dw-pci: describe Intel MID controllers better
There are more that one SPI controller on the Intel MID boards. This patch describes the status and IDs of them. From now on we also have to care about bus number that must be unique per host. According to the specification the SPI1 has 5 bits for chip selects and SPI2 only 2 bits. The patch makes it depend to PCI ID. The first controller (SPI1) is DMA capable, meanwhile SPI2 can share same channels (via software switch) such functionality is not in the scope of this patch. x86, irq: Keep balance of IOAPIC pin reference count
To keep balance of IOAPIC pin reference count, we need to protect pirq_enable_irq(), acpi_pci_irq_enable() and intel_mid_pci_irq_enable() from reentrance. There are two cases which will cause reentrance. The first case is caused by suspend/hibernation. If pcibios_disable_irq is called during suspending/hibernating, we don't release the assigned IRQ number, otherwise it may break the suspend/hibernation. So late when pcibios_enable_irq is called during resume, we shouldn't allocate IRQ number again. The second case is that function acpi_pci_irq_enable() may be called twice for PCI devices present at boot time as below: 1) pci_acpi_init() --> acpi_pci_irq_enable() if pci_routeirq is true 2) pci_enable_device() --> pcibios_enable_device() --> acpi_pci_irq_enable() We can't kill kernel parameter pci_routeirq yet because it's still needed for debugging purpose. So flag irq_managed is introduced to track whether IRQ number is assigned by OS and to protect pirq_enable_irq(), acpi_pci_irq_enable() and intel_mid_pci_irq_enable() from reentrance. ACPI, EINJ: Enhance error injection tolerance level
Some BIOSes utilize PCI MMCFG space read/write opertion to trigger specific errors. EINJ will report errors as below when hitting such cases: APEI: Can not request [mem 0x83f990a0-0x83f990a3] for APEI EINJ Trigger registers It is because on x86 platform ACPI based PCI MMCFG logic has reserved all MMCFG spaces so that EINJ can't reserve it again. We already trust the ACPI/APEI code when using the EINJ interface so it is not a big leap to also trust it to access the right MMCFG addresses. Skip address checking to allow the access. Pull x86 mm tree changes from Ingo Molnar: "The biggest change is full PAT support from Jürgen Gross: The x86 architecture offers via the PAT (Page Attribute Table) a way to specify different caching modes in page table entries. The PAT MSR contains 8 entries each specifying one of 6 possible cache modes. A pte references one of those entries via 3 bits: _PAGE_PAT, _PAGE_PWT and _PAGE_PCD. The Linux kernel currently supports only 4 different cache modes. The PAT MSR is set up in a way that the setting of _PAGE_PAT in a pte doesn't matter: the top 4 entries in the PAT MSR are the same as the 4 lower entries. This results in the kernel not supporting e.g. write-through mode. Especially this cache mode would speed up drivers of video cards which now have to use uncached accesses. OTOH some old processors (Pentium) don't support PAT correctly and the Xen hypervisor has been using a different PAT MSR configuration for some time now and can't change that as this setting is part of the ABI. This patch set abstracts the cache mode from the pte and introduces tables to translate between cache mode and pte bits (the default cache mode "write back" is hard-wired to PAT entry 0). The tables are statically initialized with values being compatible to old processors and current usage. As soon as the PAT MSR is changed (or - in case of Xen - is read at boot time) the tables are changed accordingly. Requests of mappings with special cache modes are always possible now, in case they are not supported there will be a fallback to a compatible but slower mode. xen/pci: Defer initialization of MSI ops on HVM guests
If the hardware supports APIC virtualization we may decide not to use pirqs and instead use APIC/x2APIC directly, meaning that we don't want to set x86_msi.setup_msi_irqs and x86_msi.teardown_msi_irq to Xen-specific routines. However, x2APIC is not set up by the time pci_xen_hvm_init() is called so we need to postpone setting these ops until later, when we know which APIC mode is used. (Note that currently x2APIC is never initialized on HVM guests. MSI-X vector Mask Bits are in MSI-X Tables in PCI memory space. Xen PV
guests can't write to those tables. MSI vector Mask Bits are in PCI
configuration space. Xen PV guests can write to config space, but those
writes are ignored.

x86/PCI: Mark PCI BIOS initialization code as such
The pci_find_bios() function is only ever called from initialization code, therefore can be marked as such, too. This, in turn, allows marking other functions called only in this context as well. x86/PCI: Move __init annotation to the correct place
According to include/linux/init.h, the __init annotation should be added immediately before the function name. However, for quite a few functions in mmconfig-shared.c this is not the case. It's either before the return type or even in the middle of it. Beside gcc still getting it right, we should change them to comply to the rules of include/linux/init.h. x86: remove the Xen-specific _PAGE_IOMAP PTE flag
The _PAGE_IO_MAP PTE flag was only used by Xen PV guests to mark PTEs that were used to map I/O regions that are 1:1 in the p2m. This allowed Xen to obtain the correct PFN when converting the MFNs read from a PTE back to their PFN. Xen guests no longer use _PAGE_IOMAP for this. Instead mfn_to_pfn() returns the correct PFN by using a combination of the m2p and p2m to determine if an MFN corresponds to a 1:1 mapping in the the p2m. The DMI tables are only used in __init code, thereby can be marked as initialization data, too. The same is true for the callback functions referenced from the DMI tables. This moves ~9.6 kB of code and r/o data to the init sections, marking the memory for release after initialization.
