2fa365974c hwmon: Drop explicit initialization of struct i2c_device_id::driver_data to 0 (part 2)
These drivers don't use the driver_data member of struct i2c_device_id,
so don't explicitly initialize this member.

This prepares putting driver_data in an anonymous union which requires
either no initialization or named designators. But it's also a nice
cleanup on its own.

This is a follow up to commit d8a66f3621 ("hwmon: Drop explicit
initialization of struct i2c_device_id::driver_data to 0") which I
created before identifying a few corner cases in my conversion script.

1975d16786 hwmon: Switch i2c drivers back to use .probe()
After commit b8a1a4cd5a ("i2c: Provide a temporary .probe_new()

952a11ca32 hwmon: cleanup non-bool "valid" data fields
We have bool so use it consistently in all the drivers.

The following Coccinelle script was used:

@@
identifier T;
type t = { char, int };
@@
struct T {
...
-	t valid;
+	bool valid;
...
}

@@
identifier v;
@@
(
- v->valid = 0
+ v->valid = false
|
- v->valid = 1
+ v->valid = true
)

followed by sed to fixup the comments:
sed '/bool valid;/{s/!=0/true/;s/zero/false/}'

Few whitespace changes were fixed manually. All modified drivers were
compile-tested.

673afe4661 hwmon: use simple i2c probe function (take 2)
Many hwmon drivers don't use the id information provided by the old
i2c probe function, and the remainder can easily be adapted to the new
form ("probe_new") by calling i2c_match_id explicitly.

This avoids scanning the identifier tables during probes.

Drivers which didn't use the id are converted as-is; drivers which did
are modified to call i2c_match_id() with the same level of
error-handling (if any) as before.

This patch wraps up the transition for hwmon, with four stragglers not
included in the previous large patch.

ad736c1a4d hwmon: Replace HTTP links with HTTPS ones

a02c24a321 hwmon: (lm87) Add OF device ID table
The driver doesn't have a struct of_device_id table but supported devices
are registered via Device Trees. This is working on the assumption that a
I2C device registered via OF will always match a legacy I2C device ID and
that the MODALIAS reported will always be of the form i2c:<device>.

But this could change in the future so the correct approach is to have an
OF device ID table if the devices are registered via OF.

8a665a0552 hwmon: Only call vid_which_vrm() when needed
Some hardware monitoring drivers create the VID/VRM interface files
conditionally depending on the chip model or configuration. We should
only call vid_which_vrm() when we are actually going to create the
files. Not only it is more logical and efficient that way, but it also
prevents printing unnecessary warnings such as the one reported here:

9a61bf6300 [PATCH] hwmon: Semaphore to mutex conversions
convert drivers/hwmon/*.c semaphore use to mutexes.

the conversion was generated via scripts, and the result was validated
automatically via a script as well.

all affected hwmon drivers were build-tested.

2b48716d1d [PATCH] I2C: Remove .owner setting from i2c_driver as it's no longer needed
Now that i2c_add_driver() doesn't need the module owner to be set by
hand, we can delete it from the drivers. This patch catches all of the
drivers that I found in the current tree (if a driver sets the .owner by
hand, it's not a problem, just not needed.)

cdaf79349c [PATCH] i2c: Drop i2c_driver.{owner,name}, 3 of 11
We should use the i2c_driver.driver's .name and .owner fields
instead of the i2c_driver's ones.

This patch updates the hwmon drivers.

8a9947552d [PATCH] i2c: Drop i2c_driver.flags, 2 of 3
Just about every i2c chip driver sets the I2C_DF_NOTIFY flag, so we
can simply make it the default and drop the flag. If any driver really
doesn't want to be notified when i2c adapters are added, that driver
can simply omit to set .attach_adapter. This approach is also more
robust as it prevents accidental NULL pointer dereferences.
