->sock can be set to NULL asynchronously unless ->recv_mutex is held.
So it is important to hold that mutex. Otherwise a sysfs read can
trigger an oops.
Commit 17f09d3f61 ("SUNRPC: Check if the xprt is connected before
handling sysfs reads") appears to attempt to fix this problem, but it
only narrows the race window.

If there are failures then we must not leave the non-NULL pointers with
the error value, otherwise `rpcrdma_ep_destroy` gets confused and tries
free them, resulting in an Oops.

Use the new dscp_t type to replace the fa_tos field of fib_alias. This
ensures ECN bits are ignored and makes the field compatible with the
fc_dscp field of struct fib_config.
Converting old *tos variables and fields to dscp_t allows sparse to
flag incorrect uses of DSCP and ECN bits. This patch is entirely about
type annotation and shouldn't change any existing behaviour.

Use the new dscp_t type to replace the fc_tos field of fib_config, to
ensure IPv4 routes aren't influenced by ECN bits when configured with
non-zero rtm_tos.
Before this patch, IPv4 routes specifying an rtm_tos with some of the
ECN bits set were accepted. However they wouldn't work (never match) as
IPv4 normally clears the ECN bits with IPTOS_RT_MASK before doing a FIB
lookup (although a few buggy code paths don't).
After this patch, IPv4 routes specifying an rtm_tos with any ECN bit
set is rejected.
Note: IPv6 routes ignore rtm_tos altogether, any rtm_tos is accepted,
but treated as if it were 0.

Use the new dscp_t type to replace the tos field of struct fib4_rule,
so that fib4-rules consistently ignore ECN bits.
Before this patch, fib4-rules did accept rules with the high order ECN
bit set (but not the low order one). Also, it relied on its callers
masking the ECN bits of ->flowi4_tos to prevent those from influencing
the result. This was brittle and a few call paths still do the lookup
without masking the ECN bits first.
After this patch fib4-rules only compare the DSCP bits. ECN can't
influence the result anymore, even if the caller didn't mask these
bits. Also, fib4-rules now must have both ECN bits cleared or they will
be rejected.

Define a dscp_t type and its appropriate helpers that ensure ECN bits
are not taken into account when handling DSCP.
Use this new type to replace the tclass field of struct fib6_rule, so
that fib6-rules don't get influenced by ECN bits anymore.
Before this patch, fib6-rules didn't make any distinction between the
DSCP and ECN bits. Therefore, rules specifying a DSCP (tos or dsfield
options in iproute2) stopped working as soon a packets had at least one
of its ECN bits set (as a work around one could create four rules for
each DSCP value to match, one for each possible ECN value).
After this patch fib6-rules only compare the DSCP bits. ECN doesn't
influence the result anymore. Also, fib6-rules now must have the ECN
bits cleared or they will be rejected.

While testing a patch that will follow later
("net: add netns refcount tracker to struct nsproxy")
I found that devtmpfs_init() was called before init_net
was initialized.
This is a bug, because devtmpfs_setup() calls
ksys_unshare(CLONE_NEWNS);
This has the effect of increasing init_net refcount,
which will be later overwritten to 1, as part of setup_net(&init_net)
We had too many prior patches [1] trying to work around the root cause.
Really, make sure init_net is in BSS section, and that net_ns_init()
is called earlier at boot time.
Note that another patch ("vfs: add netns refcount tracker
to struct fs_context") also will need net_ns_init() being called
before vfs_caches_init()
As a bonus, this patch saves around 4KB in .data section.

Currently, HSR manages mac addresses of known HSR nodes by using list_head.
It takes a lot of time when there are a lot of registered nodes due to
finding specific mac address nodes by using linear search. We can be
reducing the time by using hlist. Thus, this patch moves list_head to
hlist_head for mac addresses and this allows for further improvement of
network performance.

is currently an unsigned long, limiting MAX_SKB_FRAGS to 30 on 32bit arches.

We are still chasing some syzbot reports where we think a rogue dev_put()
is called with no corresponding prior dev_hold().
Unfortunately it eats a reference on dev->dev_refcnt taken by innocent
dev_hold_track(), meaning that the refcount saturation splat comes
too late to be useful.
Make sure that 'not tracked' dev_put() and dev_hold() better use
CONFIG_NET_DEV_REFCNT_TRACKER=y debug infrastructure:
Prior patch in the series allowed ref_tracker_alloc() and ref_tracker_free()
to be called with a NULL @trackerp parameter, and to use a separate refcount
only to detect too many put() even in the following case:

While inspecting some perf report, I noticed that the compiler
emits suboptimal code for the napi CB initialization, fetching
and storing multiple times the memory for flags bitfield.
This is with gcc 10.3.1, but I observed the same with older compiler
versions.
We can help the compiler to do a nicer work clearing several
fields at once using an u32 alias. The generated code is quite
smaller, with the same number of conditional.

Currently tc skb extension is used to send miss info from
tc to ovs datapath module, and driver to tc. For the tc to ovs
miss it is currently always allocated even if it will not
be used by ovs datapath (as it depends on a requested feature).
Export the static key which is used by openvswitch module to
guard this code path as well, so it will be skipped if ovs
datapath doesn't need it. Enable this code path once
ovs datapath needs it.

It's illegal to use both port and non-signal flags for adding address.
But it's legal to use both of them for setting flags, which always uses
non-signal flags, backup or fullmesh.
This patch moves this non-signal flag with port check from
mptcp_pm_parse_addr() to mptcp_nl_cmd_add_addr(). Do the check only when
adding addresses, not setting flags or deleting addresses.

Add support for the IOAM insertion frequency inside its lwtunnel output
function. This patch introduces a new (atomic) counter for packets,
based on which the algorithm will decide if IOAM should be added or not.
Default frequency is "1/1" (i.e., applied to all packets) for backward
compatibility. The iproute2 patch is ready and will be submitted as soon
as this one is accepted.

syzbot found that mixing sendpage() and sendmsg(MSG_ZEROCOPY)
calls over the same TCP socket would again trigger the
infamous warning in inet_sock_destruct()

While Talal took into account a mix of regular copied data
and MSG_ZEROCOPY one in the same skb, the sendpage() path
has been forgotten.
We want the charging to happen for sendpage(), because
pages could be coming from a pipe. What is missing is the
downgrading of pure zerocopy status to make sure
sk_forward_alloc will stay synced.
Add tcp_downgrade_zcopy_pure() helper so that we can
use it from the two callers.

My previous fix here to fix the deadlock left a race where
the exact same deadlock (see the original commit referenced
below) can still happen if cfg80211_destroy_ifaces() already
runs while nl80211_netlink_notify() is still marking some
interfaces as nl_owner_dead.
The race happens because we have two loops here - first we
dev_close() all the netdevs, and then we destroy them. If we
also have two netdevs (first one need only be a wdev though)
then we can find one during the first iteration, close it,
and go to the second iteration -- but then find two, and try
to destroy also the one we didn't close yet.
Fix this by only iterating once.

There's currently only one driver that reports CHECKSUM_COMPLETE,
that is iwlwifi. The current hardware there calculates checksum
after the SNAP header, but only RFC 1042 (and some other cases,
but replicating the exact hardware logic for corner cases in the
driver seemed awkward.)
Newer generations of hardware will checksum _including_ the SNAP,
which makes things easier.
To handle that, simply always assume the checksum _includes_ the
SNAP header, which this patch does, requiring to first add it
for older iwlwifi hardware, and then remove it again later on
conversion.
Alternatively, we could have:
1) Always assumed the checksum starts _after_ the SNAP header;
the problem with this is that we'd have to replace the exact
"what is the SNAP" check in iwlwifi that cfg80211 has.
2) Made it configurable with some flag, but that seemed like too
much complexity.

In UHB connection we don't have any HT/VHT elemens so in order to
calculate the max RX-NSS we need also to look at HE capa element, this
causes to limit us to max rx nss in UHB to 1.

If we're limiting bandwidth for some reason such as regulatory
restrictions, then advertise that limitation just like we do
for VHT today, so the AP is aware we cannot use the higher BW
it might be using.

TLS recvmsg() passes user pages as destination for decrypt.
The decrypt operation is repeated record by record, each
record being 16kB, max. TLS allocates an sg_table and uses
iov_iter_get_pages() to populate it with enough pages to
fit the decrypted record.
Even though we decrypt a single message at a time we size
the sg_table based on the entire length of the iovec.
This leads to unnecessarily large allocations, risking
triggering OOM conditions.
Use iov_iter_truncate() / iov_iter_reexpand() to construct
a "capped" version of iov_iter_npages(). Alternatively we
could parametrize iov_iter_npages() to take the size as
arg instead of using i->count, or do something else..

This allows to replace a tcp option with nop padding to selectively disable
a particular tcp option.
Optstrip mode is chosen when userspace passes the exthdr expression with
neither a source nor a destination register attribute.
This is identical to xtables TCPOPTSTRIP extension.
The only difference is that TCPOPTSTRIP allows to pass in a bitmap
of options to remove rather than a single number.
Unlike TCPOPTSTRIP this expression can be used multiple times
in the same rule to get the same effect.
We could add a new nested attribute later on in case there is a
use case for single-expression-multi-remove.

The nat module already exposes a few functions to the conntrack core.
Move the nat extension destroy hook to it.
After this, no conntrack extension needs a destroy hook.
'struct nf_ct_ext_type' and the register/unregister api can be removed
in a followup patch.

No need to specify this in the registration modules, we already
collect all sizes for build-time checks on the maximum combined size.
After this change, all extensions except nat have no meaningful content
in their nf_ct_ext_type struct definition.
Next patch handles nat, this will then allow to remove the dynamic
register api completely.

The udp_error function verifies the checksum of incoming UDP packets if
one is set. This has the desirable side effect of setting skb->ip_summed
to CHECKSUM_COMPLETE, signalling that this verification need not be
repeated further up the stack.
Conversely, when the UDP checksum is empty, which is perfectly legal (at least
inside IPv4), udp_error previously left no trace that the checksum had been
deemed acceptable.
This was a problem in particular for nf_reject_ipv4, which verifies the
checksum in nf_send_unreach() before sending ICMP_DEST_UNREACH. It makes
no accommodation for zero UDP checksums unless they are already marked
as CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY.
This commit ensures packets with empty UDP checksum are marked as
CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY, which is explicitly recommended in skbuff.h.

When userspace, e.g. conntrackd, inserts an entry with a specified helper,
its possible that the helper is lost immediately after its added:
ctnetlink_create_conntrack
-> nf_ct_helper_ext_add + assign helper
-> ctnetlink_setup_nat
-> ctnetlink_parse_nat_setup
-> parse_nat_setup -> nfnetlink_parse_nat_setup
-> nf_nat_setup_info
-> nf_conntrack_alter_reply
-> __nf_ct_try_assign_helper
... and __nf_ct_try_assign_helper will zero the helper again.
Set IPS_HELPER bit to bypass auto-assign logic, its unwanted, just like
when helper is assigned via ruleset.
Dropped old 'not strictly necessary' comment, it referred to use of
rcu_assign_pointer() before it got replaced by RCU_INIT_POINTER().
NB: Fixes tag intentionally incorrect, this extends the referenced commit,
but this change won't build without IPS_HELPER introduced there.

TCP conntrack assumes that a syn-ack retransmit is identical to the
previous syn-ack. This isn't correct and causes stuck 3whs in some more
esoteric scenarios. tcpdump to illustrate the problem:

This syn-ack has the correct ack number, but conntrack flags it as
invalid: The internal state was created from the first syn-ack seen
so the sequence number of the syn-ack is treated as being outside of
the announced window.
Don't assume that retransmitted syn-ack is identical to previous one.
Treat it like the first syn-ack and reinit state.

Loads relative to ->thoff naturally expect that this points to the
transport header, but this is only true if pkt->fragoff == 0.
This has little effect for rulesets with connection tracking/nat because
these enable ip defra. For other rulesets this prevents false matches.

The previous commit d01ffb9eee ("ax25: add refcount in ax25_dev
to avoid UAF bugs") introduces refcount into ax25_dev, but there
are reference leak paths in ax25_ctl_ioctl(), ax25_fwd_ioctl(),
ax25_rt_add(), ax25_rt_del() and ax25_rt_opt().
This patch uses ax25_dev_put() and adjusts the position of
ax25_addr_ax25dev() to fix reference cout leaks of ax25_dev.

This change is meant to permit a driver to perform "fragmenting" of the
page from within the driver instead of the current model which requires
pre-partitioning the page. The main motivation behind this is to support
use cases where the page will be split up by the driver after DMA instead
of before.
With this change it becomes possible to start using page pool to replace
some of the existing use cases where multiple references were being used
for a single page, but the number needed was unknown as the size could be
dynamic.
For example, with this code it would be possible to do something like
the following to handle allocation:

RFC8684 doesn't seem to clearly specify which MPTCP options can be used
together.
Some options are mutually exclusive -- e.g. MP_CAPABLE and MP_JOIN --,
some can be used together -- e.g. DSS + MP_PRIO --, some can but we
prefer not to -- e.g. DSS + ADD_ADDR -- and some have to be used
together at some points -- e.g. MP_FAIL and DSS.
We need to clarify this as a base before allowing other modifications.
For example, does it make sense to send a RM_ADDR with an MPC or MPJ?
This remains open for possible future discussions.

is set -- with or without an MP_RST -- or with a DSS, see
mptcp_established_options().

The neighbor entry turned to NUD_FAILED state, where __neigh_event_send()
triggered an immediate probe as per commit cd28ca0a3d ("neigh: reduce
arp latency") via neigh_probe() given table lock was held.
One option to fix this situation is to defer the neigh_probe() back to
the neigh_timer_handler() similarly as pre cd28ca0a3d. For the case
of NTF_MANAGED, this deferral is acceptable given this only happens on
actual failure state and regular / expected state is NUD_VALID with the
entry already present.
The fix adds a parameter to __neigh_event_send() in order to communicate
whether immediate probe is allowed or disallowed. Existing call-sites
of neigh_event_send() default as-is to immediate probe. However, the
neigh_managed_work() disables it via use of neigh_event_send_probe().

tcp_shift_skb_data() might collapse three packets into a larger one.
P_A, P_B, P_C -> P_ABC
Historically, it used a single tcp_skb_can_collapse_to(P_A) call,
because it was enough.
In commit 8571248411 ("tcp: coalesce/collapse must respect MPTCP extensions"),
this call was replaced by a call to tcp_skb_can_collapse(P_A, P_B)
But the now needed test over P_C has been missed.
This probably broke MPTCP.
Then later, commit 9b65b17db7 ("net: avoid double accounting for pure zerocopy skbs")
added an extra condition to tcp_skb_can_collapse(), but the missing call
from tcp_shift_skb_data() is also breaking TCP zerocopy, because P_A and P_C
might have different skb_zcopy_pure() status.

Both msgr1 and msgr2 in crc mode are zero copy in the sense that
message data is read from the socket directly into the destination
buffer. We assume that the destination buffer is stable (i.e. remains
unchanged while it is being read to) though. Otherwise, CRC errors
ensue:

Introduce rxbounce option to enable use of a bounce buffer when
receiving message data. In particular this is needed if a mapped
image is a Windows VM disk, passed to QEMU. Windows has a system-wide
"dummy" page that may be mapped into the destination buffer (potentially
more than once into the same buffer) by the Windows Memory Manager in
an effort to generate a single large I/O [1][2]. QEMU makes a point of
preserving overlap relationships when cloning I/O vectors, so krbd gets
exposed to this behaviour.

The recv path of secure mode is intertwined with that of crc mode.
While it's slightly more efficient that way (the ciphertext is read
into the destination buffer and decrypted in place, thus avoiding
two potentially heavy memory allocations for the bounce buffer and
the corresponding sg array), it isn't really amenable to changes.
Sacrifice that edge and align with the send path which always uses
a full-sized bounce buffer (currently there is no other way -- if
the kernel crypto API ever grows support for streaming (piecewise)
en/decryption for GCM [1], we would be able to easily take advantage
of that on both sides).

The change of sizeof(struct smc_diag_linkinfo) by commit 79d39fc503
("net/smc: Add netlink net namespace support") introduced an ABI
regression: since struct smc_diag_lgrinfo contains an object of
type "struct smc_diag_linkinfo", offset of all subsequent members
of struct smc_diag_lgrinfo was changed by that change.
As result, applications compiled with the old version
of struct smc_diag_linkinfo will receive garbage in
struct smc_diag_lgrinfo.role if the kernel implements
this new version of struct smc_diag_linkinfo.
Fix this regression by reverting the part of commit 79d39fc503 that
changes struct smc_diag_linkinfo. After all, there is SMC_GEN_NETLINK
interface which is good enough, so there is probably no need to touch
the smc_diag ABI in the first place.

When setting RTO through BPF program, some SYN ACK packets were unaffected
and continued to use TCP_TIMEOUT_INIT constant. This patch adds timeout
option to struct request_sock. Option is initialized with TCP_TIMEOUT_INIT
and is reassigned through BPF using tcp_timeout_init call. SYN ACK
retransmits now use newly added timeout option.

Add all the required define to prepare support for mgmt read/write in
Ethernet packet. Any packet of this type has to be dropped as the only
use of these special packet is receive ack for an mgmt write request or
receive data for an mgmt read request.
A struct is used that emulates the Ethernet header but is used for a
different purpose.

Ethernet MDIO packets are non-standard and DSA master expects the first
6 octets to be the MAC DA. To address these kind of packet, enable
promisc_on_master flag for the tagger.

In order for switch driver to be able to make simple and reliable use of
the master tracking operations, they must also be notified of the
initial state of the DSA master, not just of the changes. This is
because they might enable certain features only during the time when
they know that the DSA master is up and running.
Therefore, this change explicitly checks the state of the DSA master
under the same rtnl_mutex as we were holding during the
dsa_master_setup() and dsa_master_teardown() call. The idea being that
if the DSA master became operational in between the moment in which it
became a DSA master (dsa_master_setup set dev->dsa_ptr) and the moment
when we checked for the master being up, there is a chance that we
would emit a ->master_state_change() call with no actual state change.
We need to avoid that by serializing the concurrent netdevice event with
us. If the netdevice event started before, we force it to finish before
we begin, because we take rtnl_lock before making netdev_uses_dsa()
return true. So we also handle that early event and do nothing on it.
Similarly, if the dev_open() attempt is concurrent with us, it will
attempt to take the rtnl_mutex, but we're holding it. We'll see that
the master flag IFF_UP isn't set, then when we release the rtnl_mutex
we'll process the NETDEV_UP notifier.

Certain drivers may need to send management traffic to the switch for
things like register access, FDB dump, etc, to accelerate what their
slow bus (SPI, I2C, MDIO) can already do.
Ethernet is faster (especially in bulk transactions) but is also more
unreliable, since the user may decide to bring the DSA master down (or
not bring it up), therefore severing the link between the host and the
attached switch.
Drivers needing Ethernet-based register access already should have
fallback logic to the slow bus if the Ethernet method fails, but that
fallback may be based on a timeout, and the I/O to the switch may slow
down to a halt if the master is down, because every Ethernet packet will
have to time out. The driver also doesn't have the option to turn off
Ethernet-based I/O momentarily, because it wouldn't know when to turn it
back on.
Which is where this change comes in. By tracking NETDEV_CHANGE,
NETDEV_UP and NETDEV_GOING_DOWN events on the DSA master, we should know
the exact interval of time during which this interface is reliably
available for traffic. Provide this information to switches so they can
use it as they wish.
An helper is added dsa_port_master_is_operational() to check if a master
port is operational.

We got reports of following warning in inet_sock_destruct()
WARN_ON(sk_forward_alloc_get(sk));
Whenever we add a non zero-copy fragment to a pure zerocopy skb,
we have to anticipate that whole skb->truesize will be uncharged
when skb is finally freed.
skb->data_len is the payload length. But the memory truesize
estimated by __zerocopy_sg_from_iter() is page aligned.

When packet_setsockopt( PACKET_FANOUT_DATA ) reads po->fanout,
no lock is held, meaning that another thread can change po->fanout.
Given that po->fanout can only be set once during the socket lifetime
(it is only cleared from fanout_release()), we can use
READ_ONCE()/WRITE_ONCE() to document the race.

Menglong Dong reports that the documentation for the dst_port field in
struct bpf_sock is inaccurate and confusing. From the BPF program PoV, the
field is a zero-padded 16-bit integer in network byte order. The value
appears to the BPF user as if laid out in memory as so:

32-, 16-, and 8-bit wide loads from the field are all allowed, but only if
the offset into the field is 0.
32-bit wide loads from dst_port are especially confusing. The loaded value,
after converting to host byte order with bpf_ntohl(dst_port), contains the
port number in the upper 16-bits.
Remove the confusion by splitting the field into two 16-bit fields. For
backward compatibility, allow 32-bit wide loads from offsetof(struct
bpf_sock, dst_port).
While at it, allow loads 8-bit loads at offset [0] and [1] from dst_port.

This introduces a new corked flag, MSG_SENDPAGE_NOTLAST, which is
involved in syscall sendfile() [1], it indicates this is not the last
page. So we can cork the data until the page is not specify this flag.
It has the same effect as MSG_MORE, but existed in sendfile() only.
This patch adds a option MSG_SENDPAGE_NOTLAST for corking data, try to
cork more data before sending when using sendfile(), which acts like
TCP's behaviour. Also, this reimplements the default sendpage to inform
that it is supported to some extent.

Based on the manual of TCP_CORK [1] and MSG_MORE [2], these two options
have the same effect. Applications can set these options and informs the
kernel to pend the data, and send them out only when the socket or
syscall does not specify this flag. In other words, there's no need to
send data out by a delayed work, which will queue a lot of work.
This removes corked delayed work with SMC_TX_CORK_DELAY (250ms), and the
applications control how/when to send them out. It improves the
performance for sendfile and throughput, and remove unnecessary race of
lock_sock(). This also unlocks the limitation of sndbuf, and try to fill
it up before sending.

According to the man page of TCP_CORK [1], if set, don't send out
partial frames. All queued partial frames are sent when option is
cleared again.
When applications call setsockopt to disable TCP_CORK, this call is
protected by lock_sock(), and tries to mod_delayed_work() to 0, in order
to send pending data right now. However, the delayed work smc_tx_work is
also protected by lock_sock(). There introduces lock contention for
sending data.
To fix it, send pending data directly which acts like TCP, without
lock_sock() protected in the context of setsockopt (already lock_sock()ed),
and cancel unnecessary dealyed work, which is protected by lock.

Disabling rehash behavior did not affect SYN ACK retransmits because hash
was forcefully changed bypassing the sk_rethink_hash function. This patch
adds a condition which checks for rehash mode before resetting hash.

Add the SO_TXREHASH socket option to control hash rethink behavior per socket.
When default mode is set, sockets disable rehash at initialization and use
sysctl option when entering listen state. setsockopt() overrides default
behavior.

Add a per ns sysctl that controls the txhash rethink behavior:
net.core.txrehash. When enabled, the same behavior is retained,

As the possible failure of the alloc, the ifmgd->assoc_req_ies might be
NULL pointer returned from kmemdup().
Therefore it might be better to free the skb and return error in order
to fail the association, like ieee80211_assoc_success().
Also, the caller, ieee80211_do_assoc(), needs to deal with the return
value from ieee80211_send_assoc().

When we replace TCP with SMC and a fallback occurs, there may be
some socket waitqueue entries remaining in smc socket->wq, such
as eppoll_entries inserted by userspace applications.
After the fallback, data flows over TCP/IP and only clcsocket->wq
will be woken up. Applications can't be notified by the entries
which were inserted in smc socket->wq before fallback. So we need
a mechanism to wake up smc socket->wq at the same time if some
entries remaining in it.
The current workaround is to transfer the entries from smc socket->wq
to clcsock->wq during the fallback. But this may cause a crash
like this:

The crash is caused by privately transferring waitqueue entries from
smc socket->wq to clcsock->wq. The owners of these entries, such as
epoll, have no idea that the entries have been transferred to a
different socket wait queue and still use original waitqueue spinlock
(smc socket->wq.wait.lock) to make the entries operation exclusive,
but it doesn't work. The operations to the entries, such as removing
from the waitqueue (now is clcsock->wq after fallback), may cause a
crash when clcsock waitqueue is being iterated over at the moment.
This patch tries to fix this by no longer transferring wait queue
entries privately, but introducing own implementations of clcsock's
callback functions in fallback situation. The callback functions will
forward the wakeup to smc socket->wq if clcsock->wq is actually woken
up and smc socket->wq has remaining entries.

If we dereference ax25_dev after we call kfree(ax25_dev) in
ax25_dev_device_down(), it will lead to concurrency UAF bugs.
There are eight syscall functions suffer from UAF bugs, include
ax25_bind(), ax25_release(), ax25_connect(), ax25_ioctl(),
ax25_getname(), ax25_sendmsg(), ax25_getsockopt() and
ax25_info_show().
One of the concurrency UAF can be shown as below:

The root cause of UAF bugs is that kfree(ax25_dev) in
ax25_dev_device_down() is not protected by any locks.
When ax25_dev, which there are still pointers point to,
is released, the concurrency UAF bug will happen.
This patch introduces refcount into ax25_dev in order to
guarantee that there are no pointers point to it when ax25_dev
is released.

The previous commit 1ade48d0c2 ("ax25: NPD bug when detaching
AX25 device") introduce lock_sock() into ax25_kill_by_device to
prevent NPD bug. But the concurrency NPD or UAF bug will occur,
when lock_sock() or release_sock() dereferences the ax25_cb->sock.
The NULL pointer dereference bug can be shown as below:

For applications running on a mix of platforms it's useful
to have a clear indication whether host's NIC supports the
geometry requirements of TCP zero-copy. TCP zero-copy Rx
requires data to be neatly placed into memory pages.
Most NICs can't do that.
This patch is adding GET support only, since the NICs
I work with either always have the feature enabled or
enable it whenever MTU is set to jumbo. In other words
I don't need SET. But adding set should be trivial.
(The only note on SET is that we will likely want
the setting to be "sticky" and use 0 / `unknown`
to reset it back to driver default.)

udpv6_sendmsg() doesn't need dst after calling ip6_make_skb(), so
instead of taking an additional reference inside ip6_setup_cork()
and releasing the initial one afterwards, we can hand over a reference
into ip6_make_skb() saving two atomics. The only other user of
ip6_setup_cork() is ip6_append_data() and it requires an extra
dst_hold().

udpv6_sendmsg() first initialises an on-stack 88B struct flowi6 and then
copies it into cork, which is expensive. Avoid the copy in corkless case
by initialising on-stack cork->fl directly.
The main part is a couple of lines under !corkreq check. The rest
converts fl6 variable to be a pointer.

Another preparation patch. inet_cork_full already contains a field for
iflow, so we can avoid passing a separate struct iflow6 into
__ip6_append_data() and ip6_make_skb(), and use the flow stored in
inet_cork_full. Make sure callers set cork->fl, i.e. we init it in
ip6_append_data() and before calling ip6_make_skb().

It doesn't appear there is any reason for ip6_cork_release() to zero
cork->fl, it'll be fully filled on next initialisation. This 88 bytes
memset accounts to 0.3-0.5% of total CPU cycles.
It's also needed in following patches and allows to remove an extar flow
copy in udp_v6_push_pending_frames().

ipv6_push_nfrag_opts() doesn't change passed daddr, and so
__ip6_make_skb() doesn't actually need to keep an on-stack copy of
fl6->daddr. Set initially final_dst to fl6->daddr,
ipv6_push_nfrag_opts() will override it if needed, and get rid of extra
copies.

BPF verifier supports direct memory access for BPF_PROG_TYPE_TRACING type
of bpf programs, e.g., a->b. If "a" is a pointer
pointing to kernel memory, bpf verifier will allow user to write
code in C like a->b and the verifier will translate it to a kernel
load properly. If "a" is a pointer to user memory, it is expected
that bpf developer should be bpf_probe_read_user() helper to
get the value a->b. Without utilizing BTF __user tagging information,
current verifier will assume that a->b is a kernel memory access
and this may generate incorrect result.
Now BTF contains __user information, it can check whether the
pointer points to a user memory or not. If it is, the verifier
can reject the program and force users to use bpf_probe_read_user()
helper explicitly.
In the future, we can easily extend btf_add_space for other
address space tagging, for example, rcu/percpu etc.

When using per-vlan state, if vlan snooping and stats are disabled,
untagged or priority-tagged ingress frame will go to check pvid state.
If the port state is forwarding and the pvid state is not
learning/forwarding, untagged or priority-tagged frame will be dropped
but skb memory is not freed.
Should free skb when __allowed_ingress returns false.

hci_cmd_sync_queue shall return an error if HCI_UNREGISTER flag has
been set as that means hci_unregister_dev has been called so it will
likely cause a uaf after the timeout as the hdev will be freed.

In commit 431280eebe ("ipv4: tcp: send zero IPID for RST and
ACK sent in SYN-RECV and TIME-WAIT state") we took care of some
ctl packets sent by TCP.
It turns out we need to use a similar strategy for SYNACK packets.
By default, they carry IP_DF and IPID==0, but there are ways
to ask them to use the hashed IP ident generator and thus
be used to build off-path attacks.

One of this way is to force (before listener is started)
echo 1 >/proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_no_pmtu_disc
Another way is using forged ICMP ICMP_FRAG_NEEDED
with a very small MTU (like 68) to force a false return from
ip_dont_fragment()
In this patch, ip_build_and_send_pkt() uses the following
heuristics.
1) Most SYNACK packets are smaller than IPV4_MIN_MTU and therefore
can use IP_DF regardless of the listener or route pmtu setting.
2) In case the SYNACK packet is bigger than IPV4_MIN_MTU,
we use prandom_u32() generator instead of the IPv4 hashed ident one.

Move desc_array from the driver to the pool. The reason behind this is
that we can then reuse this array as a temporary storage for descriptors
in all zero-copy drivers that use the batched interface. This will make
it easier to add batching to more drivers.
i40e is the only driver that has a batched Tx zero-copy
implementation, so no need to touch any other driver.

When dumping vlan options for a single net device we send the same
entries infinitely because user-space expects a 0 return at the end but
we keep returning skb->len and restarting the dump on retry. Fix it by
returning the value from br_vlan_dump_dev() if it completed or there was
an error. The only case that must return skb->len is when the dump was
incomplete and needs to continue (-EMSGSIZE).

This commit breaks Linux compatibility with USGv6 tests. The RFC this
commit was based on is actually an expired draft: no published RFC
currently allows the new behaviour it introduced.
Without full IETF endorsement, the flash renumbering scenario this
patch was supposed to enable is never going to work, as other IPv6
equipements on the same LAN will keep the 2 hours limit.

Prior to commit fa538f7cf0 ("netfilter: nf_reject: add reject skbuff
creation helpers"), nft_reject_bridge did not assign to nskb->dev before
passing nskb on to br_forward(). The shared skbuff creation helpers
introduced in above commit do which seems to confuse br_forward() as
reject statements in prerouting hook won't emit a packet anymore.
Fix this by simply passing NULL instead of 'dev' to the helpers - they
use the pointer for just that assignment, nothing else.

The conversion erroneously removed the refcount increment.
In case we can use the percpu template, we need to increment
the refcount, else it will be released when the skb gets freed.
In case the slowpath is taken, the new template already has a
refcount of 1.

The current implementation of HTB offload doesn't support some
parameters. Instead of ignoring them, actively return the EINVAL error
when they are set to non-defaults.
As this patch goes to stable, the driver API is not changed here. If
future drivers support more offload parameters, the checks can be moved
to the driver side.
Note that the buffer and cbuffer parameters are also not supported, but
the tc userspace tool assigns some default values derived from rate and
ceil, and identifying these defaults in sch_htb would be unreliable, so
they are still ignored.

sk_gso_max_size is set based on the dst dev. Both users of it
adjust the value by the same offset - (MAX_TCP_HEADER + 1). Rather
than compute the same adjusted value on each call do the adjustment
once when set.

HCI_EV_VENDOR is in fact variable length since it acts as metaevent
where a vendor can implement their own event sets.
In addition to it this makes use of bt_dev_warn_ratelimited to supress
the amount of logging in case the event has more data than expected.

The invalid SCO handle error is normally caused by a race in the USB
transport where the data and event happen to be 2 different endpoints
so the event carrying the SCO handle is processed after its data.
Note: This can probably be resolved with use of force_poll_sync
debugfs.

IPv6 GRO considers packets to belong to different flows when their
hop_limit is different. This seems counter-intuitive, the flow is
the same. hop_limit may vary because of various bugs or hacks but
that doesn't mean it's okay for GRO to reorder packets.
Practical impact of this problem on overall TCP performance
is unclear, but TCP itself detects this reordering and bumps
TCPSACKReorder resulting in user complaints.
Eric warns that there may be performance regressions in setups
which do packet spraying across links with similar RTT but different
hop count. To be safe let's target -next and not treat this
as a fix. If the packet spraying is using flow label there should
be no difference in behavior as flow label is checked first.
Note that the code plays an easy to miss trick by upcasting next_hdr
to a u16 pointer and compares next_hdr and hop_limit in one go.

TCP ipv4 uses per-cpu/per-netns ctl sockets in order to send
RST and some ACK packets (on behalf of TIMEWAIT sockets).
This adds memory and cpu costs, which do not seem needed.
Now typical servers have 256 or more cores, this adds considerable
tax to netns users.
tcp sockets are used from BH context, are not receiving packets,
and do not store any persistent state but the 'struct net' pointer
in order to be able to use IPv4 output functions.
Note that I attempted a related change in the past, that had
to be hot-fixed in commit bdbbb8527b ("ipv4: tcp: get rid of ugly unicast_sock")
This patch could very well surface old bugs, on layers not
taking care of sk->sk_kern_sock properly.

we added private per-cpu/per-netns ipv6 icmp sockets.
This adds memory and cpu costs, which do not seem needed.
Now typical servers have 256 or more cores, this adds considerable
tax to netns users.
icmp sockets are used from BH context, are not receiving packets,
and do not store any persistent state but the 'struct net' pointer.
icmpv6_xmit_lock() already makes sure to lock the chosen per-cpu
socket.
This patch has a considerable impact on the number of netns
that the worker thread in cleanup_net() can dismantle per second,
because ip6mr_sk_done() is no longer called, meaning we no longer
acquire the rtnl mutex, competing with other threads adding new netns.

We will soon get rid of inet_twsk_purge().
This means that tw_timer_handler() might fire after
a netns has been dismantled/freed.
Instead of adding a function (and data structure) to find a netns
from tw->tw_net_cookie, just update the SNMP counters
a bit earlier, when the netns is known to be alive.

When one of the three connection complete events is received multiple
times for the same handle, the device is registered multiple times which
leads to memory corruptions. Therefore, consequent events for a single
connection are ignored.
The conn->state can hold different values, therefore HCI_CONN_HANDLE_UNSET
is introduced to identify new connections. To make sure the events do not
contain this or another invalid handle HCI_CONN_HANDLE_MAX and checks
are introduced.

Commit 49246466a9 ("fsnotify: move fsnotify_nameremove() hook out of
d_delete()") moved the fsnotify delete hook before d_delete() so fsnotify
will have access to a positive dentry.
This allowed a race where opening the deleted file via cached dentry
is now possible after receiving the IN_DELETE event.
To fix the regression in pseudo filesystems, convert d_delete() calls
to d_drop() (see commit 46c46f8df9 ("devpts_pty_kill(): don't bother
with d_delete()") and move the fsnotify hook after d_drop().
Add a missing fsnotify_unlink() hook in nfsdfs that was found during
the audit of fsnotify hooks in pseudo filesystems.
Note that the fsnotify hooks in simple_recursive_removal() follow
d_invalidate(), so they require no change.

When 'ping' changes to use PING socket instead of RAW socket by:
# sysctl -w net.ipv4.ping_group_range="0 100"
the selftests 'router_broadcast.sh' will fail, as such command
# ip vrf exec vrf-h1 ping -I veth0 198.51.100.255 -b
can't receive the response skb by the PING socket. It's caused by mismatch
of sk_bound_dev_if and dif in ping_rcv() when looking up the PING socket,
as dif is vrf-h1 if dif's master was set to vrf-h1.
This patch is to fix this regression by also checking the sk_bound_dev_if
against sdif so that the packets can stil be received even if the socket
is not bound to the vrf device but to the real iif.

This patch tries to fix it by holding clcsock_release_lock and
checking whether clcsock has already been released before access.
In case that a crash of the same reason happens in smc_getsockopt()
or smc_switch_to_fallback(), this patch also checkes smc->clcsock
in them too. And the caller of smc_switch_to_fallback() will identify
whether fallback succeeds according to the return value.

During IP fragmentation we sanitize IP options. This means overwriting
options which should not be copied with NOPs. Only the first fragment
has the original, full options.
ip_fraglist_prepare() copies the IP header and options from previous
fragment to the next one. Commit 19c3401a91 ("net: ipv4: place control
buffer handling away from fragmentation iterators") moved sanitizing
options before ip_fraglist_prepare() which means options are sanitized
and then overwritten again with the old values.
Fixing this is not enough, however, nor did the sanitization work
prior to aforementioned commit.
ip_options_fragment() (which does the sanitization) uses ipcb->opt.optlen
for the length of the options. ipcb->opt of fragments is not populated
(it's 0), only the head skb has the state properly built. So even when
called at the right time ip_options_fragment() does nothing. This seems
to date back all the way to v2.5.44 when the fast path for pre-fragmented
skbs had been introduced. Prior to that ip_options_build() would have been
called for every fragment (in fact ever since v2.5.44 the fragmentation
handing in ip_options_build() has been dead code, I'll clean it up in
-next).
In the original patch (see Link) caixf mentions fixing the handling
for fragments other than the second one, but I'm not sure how _any_
fragment could have had their options sanitized with the code
as it stood.
Tested with python (MTU on lo lowered to 1000 to force fragmentation):

In preparation for FORTIFY_SOURCE performing compile-time and run-time
field bounds checking for memcpy(), memmove(), and memset(), avoid
intentionally writing across neighboring fields.
Use struct_group() to capture the fields to be reset, so that memset()
can be appropriately bounds-checked by the compiler.

Improve retransmission backoff by only backing off when we retransmit data
packets rather than when we set the lost ack timer.
To this end:
(1) In rxrpc_resend(), use rxrpc_get_rto_backoff() when setting the
retransmission timer and only tell it that we are retransmitting if we
actually have things to retransmit.
Note that it's possible for the retransmission algorithm to race with
the processing of a received ACK, so we may see no packets needing
retransmission.
(2) In rxrpc_send_data_packet(), don't bump the backoff when setting the
ack_lost_at timer, as it may then get bumped twice.
With this, when looking at one particular packet, the retransmission
intervals were seen to be 1.5ms, 2ms, 3ms, 5ms, 9ms, 17ms, 33ms, 71ms,
136ms, 264ms, 544ms, 1.088s, 2.1s, 4.2s and 8.3s.

XDP_REDIRECT is not fully supported yet for xdp frags since not
all XDP capable drivers can map non-linear xdp_frame in ndo_xdp_xmit
so disable it for the moment.

Similar to skb_header_pointer, introduce bpf_xdp_pointer utility routine
to return a pointer to a given position in the xdp_buff if the requested
area (offset + len) is contained in a contiguous memory area otherwise it
will be copied in a bounce buffer provided by the caller.
Similar to the tc counterpart, introduce the two following xdp helpers:
- bpf_xdp_load_bytes
- bpf_xdp_store_bytes

This change adds support for tail growing and shrinking for XDP frags.
When called on a non-linear packet with a grow request, it will work
on the last fragment of the packet. So the maximum grow size is the
last fragments tailroom, i.e. no new buffer will be allocated.
A XDP frags capable driver is expected to set frag_size in xdp_rxq_info
data structure to notify the XDP core the fragment size.
frag_size set to 0 is interpreted by the XDP core as tail growing is
not allowed.
Introduce __xdp_rxq_info_reg utility routine to initialize frag_size field.
When shrinking, it will work from the last fragment, all the way down to
the base buffer depending on the shrinking size. It's important to mention
that once you shrink down the fragment(s) are freed, so you can not grow
again to the original size.

Introduce xdp_update_skb_shared_info routine to update frags array
metadata in skb_shared_info data structure converting to a skb from
a xdp_buff or xdp_frame.
According to the current skb_shared_info architecture in
xdp_frame/xdp_buff and to the xdp frags support, there is
no need to run skb_add_rx_frag() and reset frags array converting the buffer
to a skb since the frag array will be in the same position for xdp_buff/xdp_frame
and for the skb, we just need to update memory metadata.
Introduce XDP_FLAGS_PF_MEMALLOC flag in xdp_buff_flags in order to mark
the xdp_buff or xdp_frame as under memory-pressure if pages of the frags array
are under memory pressure. Doing so we can avoid looping over all fragments in
xdp_update_skb_shared_info routine. The driver is expected to set the
flag constructing the xdp_buffer using xdp_buff_set_frag_pfmemalloc
utility routine.
Rely on xdp_update_skb_shared_info in __xdp_build_skb_from_frame routine
converting the non-linear xdp_frame to a skb after performing a XDP_REDIRECT.

Right now there is no way to query whether BPF programs are
attached to a sockmap or not.
we can use the standard interface in libbpf to query, such as:
bpf_prog_query(mapFd, BPF_SK_SKB_STREAM_PARSER, 0, NULL, ...);
the mapFd is the fd of sockmap.

In mptcp_pm_nl_rm_addr_or_subflow(), the bit of rm_list->ids[i] in the
id_avail_bitmap should be set, not rm_list->ids[1]. This patch fixed it.

The MPTCP endpoint list is under RCU protection, guarded by the
pernet spinlock. mptcp_nl_cmd_set_flags() traverses the list
without acquiring the spin-lock nor under the RCU critical section.
This change addresses the issue performing the lookup and the endpoint
update under the pernet spinlock.

transmitted through an ip6gre netdev, leading to high CPU utilization.

When adding a tc rule with a qdisc kind that is not supported or not
compiled into the kernel, the kernel emits the following error: "Error:
Specified qdisc not found.". Found via tdc testing when ETS qdisc was not
compiled in and it was not obvious right away what the message meant
without looking at the kernel code.
Change the error message to be more explicit and say the qdisc kind is
unknown.

In one net namespace, after creating a packet socket without binding
it to a device, users in other net namespaces can observe the new
`packet_type` added by this packet socket by reading `/proc/net/ptype`
file. This is minor information leakage as packet socket is
namespace aware.
Add a net pointer in `packet_type` to keep the net namespace of
of corresponding packet socket. In `ptype_seq_show`, this net pointer
must be checked when it is not NULL.

net/ipv4/fib_semantics.c uses a hash table (fib_info_laddrhash)
in which fib_sync_down_addr() can locate fib_info
based on IPv4 local address.
This hash table is resized based on total number of
hashed fib_info, but the hash function is only
using the local address.
For hosts having many active network namespaces,
all fib_info for loopback devices (IPv4 address 127.0.0.1)
are hashed into a single bucket, making netns dismantles
very slow.

net/ipv4/fib_semantics.c uses an hash table of 256 slots,
keyed by device ifindexes: fib_info_devhash[DEVINDEX_HASHSIZE]
Problem is that with network namespaces, devices tend
to use the same ifindex.
lo device for instance has a fixed ifindex of one,
for all network namespaces.
This means that hosts with thousands of netns spend
a lot of time looking at some hash buckets with thousands
of elements, notably at netns dismantle.
Simply add a per netns perturbation (net_hash_mix())
to spread elements more uniformely.
Also change fib_devindex_hashfn() to use more entropy.

The issue was visible only with multiple simultaneous calls to bind() and
sendmsg(), which resulted in most of the bind() calls to fail. The
bind() was failing on checking if there is available WKS/SDP/SAP
(respective bit in 'struct nfc_llcp_local' fields). When there was no
available WKS/SDP/SAP, the bind returned error but the sendmsg() to such
socket was able to trigger mentioned NULL pointer dereference of
nfc_llcp_sock->dev.
The code looks simply racy and currently it protects several paths
against race with checks for (!nfc_llcp_sock->local) which is NULL-ified
in error paths of bind(). The llcp_sock_sendmsg() did not have such
check but called function nfc_llcp_send_ui_frame() had, although not
protected with lock_sock().

The nfc_llcp_send_ui_frame() checked llcp_sock->local outside of the

Currently, unix_next_socket() is overloaded depending on the 2nd argument.
If it is NULL, unix_next_socket() returns the first socket in the hash. If
not NULL, it returns the next socket in the same hash list or the first
socket in the next non-empty hash list.
This patch refactors unix_next_socket() into two functions unix_get_first()
and unix_get_next(). unix_get_first() newly acquires a lock and returns
the first socket in the list. unix_get_next() returns the next socket in a
list or releases a lock and falls back to unix_get_first().
In the following patch, bpf iter holds entire sockets in a list and always
releases the lock before .show(). It always calls unix_get_first() to
acquire a lock in each iteration. So, this patch makes the change easier
to follow.

This change adds conntrack lookup helpers using the unstable kfunc call
interface for the XDP and TC-BPF hooks. The primary usecase is
implementing a synproxy in XDP, see Maxim's patchset [0].
Export get_net_ns_by_id as nf_conntrack_bpf.c needs to call it.
This object is only built when CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO_BTF_MODULES is enabled.

Completely remove the old code for check_kfunc_call to help it work
with modules, and also the callback itself.
The previous commit adds infrastructure to register all sets and put
them in vmlinux or module BTF, and concatenates all related sets
organized by the hook and the type. Once populated, these sets remain
immutable for the lifetime of the struct btf.
Also, since we don't need the 'owner' module anywhere when doing
check_kfunc_call, drop the 'btf_modp' module parameter from
find_kfunc_desc_btf.

When under stress, cleanup_net() can have to dismantle
netns in big numbers. ops_exit_list() currently calls
many helpers [1] that have no schedule point, and we can
end up with soft lockups, particularly on hosts
with many cpus.
Even for moderate amount of netns processed by cleanup_net()
this patch avoids latency spikes.
[1] Some of these helpers like fib_sync_up() and fib_sync_down_dev()
are very slow because net/ipv4/fib_semantics.c uses host-wide hash tables,
and ifindex is used as the only input of two hash functions.
ifindexes tend to be the same for all netns (lo.ifindex==1 per instance)
This will be fixed in a separate patch.

The cited Fixes patch moved to a deferred skb approach where the skbs
are not freed immediately under the socket lock. Add a WARN_ON_ONCE()
to verify the deferred list is empty on socket destroy, and empty it to
prevent potential memory leaks.

Pull signal/exit/ptrace updates from Eric Biederman:
"This set of changes deletes some dead code, makes a lot of cleanups
which hopefully make the code easier to follow, and fixes bugs found
along the way.
The end-game which I have not yet reached yet is for fatal signals
that generate coredumps to be short-circuit deliverable from
complete_signal, for force_siginfo_to_task not to require changing
userspace configured signal delivery state, and for the ptrace stops
to always happen in locations where we can guarantee on all
architectures that the all of the registers are saved and available on
the stack.
Removal of profile_task_ext, profile_munmap, and profile_handoff_task
are the big successes for dead code removal this round.
A bunch of small bug fixes are included, as most of the issues
reported were small enough that they would not affect bisection so I
simply added the fixes and did not fold the fixes into the changes
they were fixing.
There was a bug that broke coredumps piped to systemd-coredump. I
dropped the change that caused that bug and replaced it entirely with
something much more restrained. Unfortunately that required some
rebasing.
Some successes after this set of changes: There are few enough calls
to do_exit to audit in a reasonable amount of time. The lifetime of
struct kthread now matches the lifetime of struct task, and the
pointer to struct kthread is no longer stored in set_child_tid. The
flag SIGNAL_GROUP_COREDUMP is removed. The field group_exit_task is
removed. Issues where task->exit_code was examined with
signal->group_exit_code should been examined were fixed.
There are several loosely related changes included because I am
cleaning up and if I don't include them they will probably get lost.

A hung_task is observed when removing SMC-R devices. Suppose that
a link group has two active links(lnk_A, lnk_B) associated with two
different SMC-R devices(dev_A, dev_B). When dev_A is removed, the
link group will be removed from smc_lgr_list and added into
lgr_linkdown_list. lnk_A will be cleared and smcibdev(A)->lnk_cnt
will reach to zero. However, when dev_B is removed then, the link
group can't be found in smc_lgr_list and lnk_B won't be cleared,
making smcibdev->lnk_cnt never reaches zero, which causes a hung_task.
This patch fixes this issue by restoring the implementation of
smc_smcr_terminate_all() to what it was before commit 349d43127d
("net/smc: fix kernel panic caused by race of smc_sock"). The original
implementation also satisfies the intention that make sure QP destroy
earlier than CQ destroy because we will always wait for smcibdev->lnk_cnt
reaches zero, which guarantees QP has been destroyed.

In the past, free_fib_info() was supposed to be called
under RTNL protection.
This eventually was no longer the case.
Instead of enforcing RTNL it seems we simply can
move fib_info_cnt changes to occur when fib_info_lock
is held.
v2: David Laight suggested to update fib_info_cnt
only when an entry is added/deleted to/from the hash table,
as fib_info_cnt is used to make sure hash table size
is optimal.

The packet isn't invalid, REPEAT means we're trying again after cleaning
out a stale connection, e.g. via tcp tracker.
This caused increases of invalid stat counter in a test case involving
frequent connection reuse, even though no packet is actually invalid.

Various places in the kernel - largely in filesystems - respond to a
memory allocation failure by looping around and re-trying. Some of
these cannot conveniently use __GFP_NOFAIL, for reasons such as:
- a GFP_ATOMIC allocation, which __GFP_NOFAIL doesn't work on
- a need to check for the process being signalled between failures
- the possibility that other recovery actions could be performed
- the allocation is quite deep in support code, and passing down an
extra flag to say if __GFP_NOFAIL is wanted would be clumsy.
Many of these currently use congestion_wait() which (in almost all
cases) simply waits the given timeout - congestion isn't tracked for
most devices.
It isn't clear what the best delay is for loops, but it is clear that
the various filesystems shouldn't be responsible for choosing a timeout.
This patch introduces memalloc_retry_wait() with takes on that
responsibility. Code that wants to retry a memory allocation can call
this function passing the GFP flags that were used. It will wait
however is appropriate.
For now, it only considers __GFP_NORETRY and whatever
gfpflags_allow_blocking() tests. If blocking is allowed without
__GFP_NORETRY, then alloc_page either made some reclaim progress, or
waited for a while, before failing. So there is no need for much
further waiting. memalloc_retry_wait() will wait until the current
jiffie ends. If this condition is not met, then alloc_page() won't have
waited much if at all. In that case memalloc_retry_wait() waits about
200ms. This is the delay that most current loops uses.
linux/sched/mm.h needs to be included in some files now,
but linux/backing-dev.h does not.

Support for GFP_NO{FS,IO} and __GFP_NOFAIL has been implemented by
previous patches so we can allow the support for kvmalloc. This will
allow some external users to simplify or completely remove their
helpers.
GFP_NOWAIT semantic hasn't been supported so far but it hasn't been
explicitly documented so let's add a note about that.
ceph_kvmalloc is the first helper to be dropped and changed to kvmalloc.

On the reception of a HCI_Synchronous_Connection_Complete for a BDADDR
of an existing LE connection, LE link type and a status that triggers the
second case of the packet processing a NULL pointer dereference happens,

commit 56b765b79e ("htb: improved accuracy at high rates") broke
"overhead X", "linklayer atm" and "mpu X" attributes.
"overhead X" and "linklayer atm" have already been fixed. This restores
the "mpu X" handling, as might be used by DOCSIS or Ethernet shaping:
tc class add ... htb rate X overhead 4 mpu 64
The code being fixed is used by htb, tbf and act_police. Cake has its
own mpu handling. qdisc_calculate_pkt_len still uses the size table
containing values adjusted for mpu by user space.
iproute2 tc has always passed mpu into the kernel via a tc_ratespec
structure, but the kernel never directly acted on it, merely stored it
so that it could be read back by `tc class show`.
Rather, tc would generate length-to-time tables that included the mpu
(and linklayer) in their construction, and the kernel used those tables.
Since v3.7, the tables were no longer used. Along with "mpu", this also
broke "overhead" and "linklayer" which were fixed in 01cb71d2d4
("net_sched: restore "overhead xxx" handling", v3.10) and 8a8e3d84b1
("net_sched: restore "linklayer atm" handling", v3.11).
"overhead" was fixed by simply restoring use of tc_ratespec::overhead -
this had originally been used by the kernel but was initially omitted
from the new non-table-based calculations.
"linklayer" had been handled in the table like "mpu", but the mode was
not originally passed in tc_ratespec. The new implementation was made to
handle it by getting new versions of tc to pass the mode in an extended
tc_ratespec, and for older versions of tc the table contents were analysed
at load time to deduce linklayer.
As "mpu" has always been given to the kernel in tc_ratespec,
accompanying the mpu-based table, we can restore system functionality
with no userspace change by making the kernel act on the tc_ratespec
value.

The refcount leak issues take place in an error handling path. When the
3rd argument buf doesn't match with "offline", "online" or "remove", the
function simply returns -EINVAL and forgets to decrease the reference
count of a rpc_xprt object and a rpc_xprt_switch object increased by
rpc_sysfs_xprt_kobj_get_xprt() and
rpc_sysfs_xprt_kobj_get_xprt_switch(), causing reference count leaks of
both unused objects.
Fix this issue by jumping to the error handling path labelled with
out_put when buf matches none of "offline", "online" or "remove".

These crashes are similarly caused by clearing SMC-R link
resources when some functions is still accessing to them.
This patch tries to fix the issue by introducing reference
count of SMC-R links and ensuring that the sensitive resources
of links won't be cleared until reference count reaches zero.
The operation to the SMC-R link reference count can be concluded
as follows:

It is no longer suitable to identify whether a smc connection
is registered in a link group through checking if conn->lgr
is NULL, because conn->lgr won't be reset even the connection
is unregistered from a link group.
So this patch introduces a new helper smc_conn_lgr_valid() and
replaces all the check of conn->lgr in original implementation
with the new helper to judge if conn->lgr is valid to use.

There are some other panic places and they are caused by the
similar reason as described above, which is accessing link
group after termination, thus getting a NULL pointer or invalid
resource.
Currently, there seems to be no synchronization between the
link group access and a sudden termination of it. This patch
tries to fix this by introducing reference count of link group
and not freeing link group until reference count is zero.
Link group might be referred to by links or smc connections. So
the operation to the link group reference count can be concluded
as follows:

Througth this way, we extend the life cycle of link group and

The attach callback of struct Qdisc_ops is used by only a few qdiscs:
mq, mqprio and htb. qdisc_graft() contains the following logic
(pseudocode):

As we see, the attach callback is not called if the qdisc is being
attached to ingress (TC_H_INGRESS). That wasn't a problem for mq and
mqprio, since they contain a check that they are attached to TC_H_ROOT,
and they can't be attached to TC_H_INGRESS anyway.
However, the commit cited below added the attach callback to htb. It is
needed for the hardware offload, but in the non-offload mode it
simulates the "do egress stuff" part of the pseudocode above. The
problem is that when htb is attached to ingress, neither "do ingress
stuff" nor attach() is called. It results in an inconsistency, and the
following message is printed to dmesg:
unregister_netdevice: waiting for lo to become free. Usage count = 2
This commit addresses the issue by running "do ingress stuff" in the
ingress flow even in the attach callback is present, which is fine,
because attach isn't going to be called afterwards.
The bug was found by syzbot and reported by Eric.

While experimenting with FOU encapsulation Amir noticed that encapsulated IPv6
traffic fails to be delivered, if the peer IP address is configured locally.
It can be easily verified by creating a sit interface like below:
$ sudo ip link add name fou_test type sit remote 127.0.0.1 encap fou encap-sport auto encap-dport 1111
$ sudo ip link set fou_test up
and sending some IPv4 and IPv6 traffic to it
$ ping -I fou_test -c 1 1.1.1.1
$ ping6 -I fou_test -c 1 fe80::d0b0:dfff:fe4c:fcbc
"tcpdump -i any udp dst port 1111" will confirm that only the first IPv4 ping
was encapsulated and attempted to be delivered.
This seems like a limitation: for example, in a cloud environment the "peer"
service may be arbitrarily scheduled on any server within the cluster, where all
nodes are trying to send encapsulated traffic. And the unlucky node will not be
able to. Moreover, delivering encapsulated IPv4 traffic locally is allowed.
But I may not have all the context about this restriction and this code predates
the observable git history.

Here is the big set of tty/serial driver updates for 5.17-rc1.
Nothing major in here, just lots of good updates and fixes, including:
- more tty core cleanups from Jiri as well as mxser driver
cleanups. This is the majority of the core diffstat
- tty documentation updates from Jiri
- platform_get_irq() updates
- various serial driver updates for new features and hardware
- fifo usage for 8250 console, reducing cpu load a lot
- LED fix for keyboards, long-time bugfix that went through many
revisions
- minor cleanups
All have been in linux-next for a while with no reported problems.
